AFO not only takes out Mt Lady, he takes out MACHIA. He aims a kill shot at his own loyal servant now that the servant dares speak back to the master. Immediately after, AFO wonders if his “other self” (aka TomurAFO) is influencing him because his insides/his core has started to produce a “dark thing” that AFO cannot fully control, especially as he rewinds. Then he says that, by surrendering to it (the “dark thing”), he can get “even more” from a quirk.
Meaning at some point soon, AFO could be overtaken by the “darkness” and his quirk(s) will go beyond their full power. A rewound AFO IS the quirk singularity. All impulse, all quirk power; no heart or soul. His body will move entirely on its own with no heart driving the movement. It’s no coincidence that this happens in the same chapter as Hawks loses his quirk (but keeps hope alive) AND as Death Arms gets his heroic “moved without thinking” redemption to save a kid who’s consistently shown doubt in heroes.

Interesting titbit about chapters 323–324 that are about to be adapted into the episode ‘A Young Woman’s Declaration’.
The title of the episode and ch324, 未成年の主張 (Miseinen no Shuchō— lit. Young Person’s Claim), was actually the name of a popular segment of a Japanese tv show. They would live broadcast from a real school, and a student would climb onto the roof to shout a confession or something important to them. Apparently it was typically love confessions, but also sometimes apologies or thanks. It was so popular it’s often emulated in manga and anime as a trope, and spawned derivative segments in other series over the last 20 years.
Tumblr media
The image of a young person stood on the roof, in the exact posture Ochako adopts in these chapters, would be extremely familiar to most Japanese readers. They would read it expecting that they were about to hear something deeply personal and heartfelt—maybe even a young girl confessing her crush on a fellow student!
Tumblr media
In fact, Ochako’s speech is her being a Hero, setting aside any personal feelings and trying her best to get the crowd to see Izuku as just a normal kid. Her declaration is essentially that “there are no special people, he’s just an ordinary person so please see how tired he is and let him stay here.”
In typical Horikoshi fashion, he set up the reader’s expectations and subverted them. This isn’t something that we would notice as westerners, but I thought it was interesting.

Okay, I've been thinking about the next upcoming episode and Uraraka's speech and whatnot. Went back and reread those chapters and well...
I really don't know how to explain it so I'm just gonna ramble here.
I do understand why the civilians got antsy about Midoriya staying at Yuuei. Everything is chaotic, the villains are after him, everyone is suffering from trauma, all that.
So why couldn't he stay somewhere else that's safe for him?
Then I thought about it.
This is Midoriya we're talking about.
If he stayed anywhere else he would not get the rest he needed. Uraraka was right to point out that it is Yuuei is his academy, his place. It's where he met real friends, where he starts to build that confidence within himself, where he learns, Yuuei has became his hero origin place.
If Midoriya, who is a stubborn kid mind you, was sheltered somewhere else he wouldn't even stay there for a whole day. Maybe two days at the most!
The one thing he does needs the most is to be surrounded by the people who cares for him. He needed to be at a place of comfort with the people who also provide him that support. The only way he would have stayed at a shelter that isn't Yuuei is everyone he needs goes with him. But how fair would that be for the class? His mom even?
Look, scared as the civilians are, these are also the same people who can't seem to recognize that they're all in this circle of gray and that despite what they may think, they're just in fault as the heroes and villains. They're not saints.
They worship heroes and bash villains, forgetting they're human just like them and the moment a hero or a villain show that they are capable of having feelings, make a mistake or being vulnerable, the civilians get an attitude and critical.
So if Class A wants their classmate, A CHILD TOO, to be at Yuuei, they can open their eyes and realize that the kid is suffering, too and move aside.
Like he wasn't out there risking himself.
Also, I considered this.
It is evident that Midoriya is a big piece to defeating the villains.
He was out there (Dark Deku Arc) protecting people and during that time Shigaraki and AFO didn't come out of hiding, right?
Worse case scenario, what if Midoriya was still out there and they attacked Yuuei?
Those who are caught up with the manga know that Midoriya not being where he's supposed to be is B-A-D.
Could you imagine how even more disastrous that would have been if the villains attacked at this time? (Pre-Final War)
It would be a domino effect so catastrophic...!
Midoriya would definitely be A LOT WORSE. He's already tired, depressed, angry, dirty, hungry... The last thing he would need is more guilt to pile up on him.
Imagine though if Midoriya actually needing to rest at Yuuei was foreshadowing later that he was going to get separated during the Final War... ha... yeah... unintentionally or not... I know that feeling...
Now, I doubt anyone would ask, but if you want my opinion on how Uraraka's speech is written... I don't have one. Not bad, not good. It's just one of those moments in this storyline that makes me think more on "what if situations" and not on criticizing how a storyline is written. Especially when it's still ongoing.

Chapter 348's "Shitty Nerd" Narrator Isn't Omniscient (And It's Not Bakugou Katsuki)
So, for a good bit there we were all theorizing about what was up with the narrator of chapter 348 calling Izuku a "shitty nerd" for not recognizing Toga's feelings for him, right?
Now, in a previous post I explained the different expectations Japanese audiences tend to have for frame narratives in weekly serialized manga. I posited that this may mean that the identity of 348's third-person narrator isn't necessarily of direct importance and, as a result, may never be explicitly revealed. I maintain the validity of this observation in general, however I no longer think it is relevant to understanding Horikoshi's approach to writing.
Because I am confident I have figured out who the narrator is: Best Jeanist.
To be clear, I do not believe that Best Jeanist is the source of every third-person narration in the series so far—I have yet to go back and research earlier chapters enough to theorize about that. I believe he is specifically the frame narrator who is explaining the critical moments of the Heroes’ final battle against AFO/Shigaraki, most notably in chapters 348 and 377.
Let’s go over the supporting evidence for this reading.
Best Jeanist's speech patterns match the idiosyncrasies found in 348
Back in February, pikahlua pointed out that 348's narrator uses "de aru” (である, also conjugated as であり, de ari) and I have been thinking about this detail ever since. Early on I described 348’s narration to a friend as sounding almost like a textbook, and it is “de aru” which contributes most to that tone. It functions as a connecting verb meaning "be" or "is," but it feels uniquely literary, even a bit archaic. Due to this, I pretty readily imagined that 348 was narrated by an omniscient figure who was telling the story to us as a historical event, like it was a passage from a book on “the great Hero Deku” or something like that.
But I kept wondering if, among all the fanciful characters in MHA, there was anyone who fit the bill for this type of language. Lo and behold:
Tumblr media
On top of Shigaraki escaping, we sustained tremendous damage. But… nevertheless, we Heroes must continue the fight with the threads of our faith utterly unrent! This is the hope of our scattered comrades, and it will be spun into a new era… Plus Ultra!
The back cover of the Japanese volumes all have in-character narration blurbs that match the speech patterns and personality of the character featured on the spine of the book. This is not replicated in the English releases, so the above translation is my own. Here, Best Jeanist uses “de aru” (highlighted in blue) for that same literary effect 348 uses. I looked through other volume covers and a few dozen chapters, and I found only a couple other uses of “de aru” in total--by Iida and a member of Spinner’s army shown in 370, neither of whom are likely candidates for 348’s narrator.
Best Jeanist in general speaks in a deliberately refined, elegant way. He uses polite speech at times and, even when talking casually, his word choices are rather serious and poetic. Notice the top orange text highlighted: 一糸の綻び (isshi no hokorobi) meaning the tear of a single thread, an evocative metaphor. Keep this and the bottom orange text in mind (散って, chitte, describing the “scattered comrades”).
Side note: Best Jeanist has used “kare” (彼, meaning "he") in canon to refer to Izuku, seen here in chapter 323:
Tumblr media
This is less of a smoking gun than “de aru,” but the politeness of 348’s narration and the word “kare” specifically rule out Katsuki as a potential narrator, so it is worth mentioning.
Volume 31 covers chapters 296-306, with the last chapter entitled, “The Final Act Begins.” I think it is significant that Best Jeanist is the narrator on this volume cover; it may be foreshadowing for his role as the narrator for the Final Battle itself, which leads us to...
Best Jeanist's Threads of Hope
Best Jeanist's Quirk and his entire schtick are about fibers and threads. He makes this a direct metaphor for the Heroes’ struggle against the League of Villains in 292 where he says that they will stop the League by weaving "threads of hope" (一縷の希望, ichiru no kibou). He develops this metaphor further in 294, describing their victory over Gigantomachia.
Tumblr media
He also used this kind of language in 311 and 317.
Tumblr media
And don’t forget, he sutured Katsuki’s damaged heart back together in hopes of reviving him.
Tumblr media
Then, we got this sequence in 377:
Tumblr media
A faceless, elderly individual speaking about the Final Battle in the past tense. This person directly references that thin thread to describe the Heroes’ chances and their gambit against the villains.
The blue text in the top panel, which is curiously absent from the English release, says:
「舞い散る桜のように・・・」
maichiru sakura no you ni…
Like falling cherry blossoms…
The verb for “falling” here is actually two verbs joined together meaning “to fall as if dancing.” Literally, maichiru means dance-scatter. The Heroes’ gambit relies on dividing the villains, and in their efforts, they themselves are being scattered, like cherry blossoms. Remember how Best Jeanist described his comrades as scattered? The second verb here is that very same one.
The thread and snap (or cut) wording even gets brought up six chapters later by Tsukauchi:
Tumblr media
The “hope” part is technically not present in the Japanese here, but I think official translator Caleb Cook caught on to the thematic parallel. And in my opinion, it is a pretty significant parallel.
So, with all this in mind: My bet is that Best Jeanist is the primary narrator for the final arc of the series.
This is a very interesting choice; it definitely raises questions about whether All Might survives. Best Jeanist is currently in his late 30s, so for him to be the elderly narrator seen in 377, he would have to be relaying these events from 30-40 years in the future, which might mean All Might survives the final battle but dies of old age later.
Whatever happens in the battle against AFO/Shigaraki, I think both Best Jeanist and Katsuki survive. Sometime post-battle, everyone gets the explanation for what happened when Izuku was warped away by Toga, and Katsuki—hearing that Izuku didn’t recognize Toga’s feelings for him—utters some iteration of 348’s infamous line about how, no matter what he does, he is still "a shitty nerd.”
Best Jeanist quotes him in 348’s narration, because... well, even though it is vulgar, it is a pretty accurate and even affectionate description of Izuku’s oblivious nature from his childhood friend, who knows him quite well. I think Best Jeanist, having mentored and watched over Katsuki all this time, deferred to him on the subject of Izuku’s personal life.
But he also did it because it’s funny as hell, and we should never forget that MHA is a comedy.

What is a story beat ? You said that Hawks sill has a storybeat left probably about Toga / Twice's death?
Sorry if I ask too many questions!… but you wrote this (I really doubt there would be any point in him dying for the narrativ) do you talk about Hawks or Twice ?
I'll take this two together. Story beat is a shift in the narrative. It can be emotional turns, incidents or events, actions, and reactions, or realizations. They can even be small shifts in narrative tone or a character’s emotional arc.
Hawks' character arc has several different threads, but one important one is his relationship with Twice as a reflection of the tension between a true hero ideal (heroes save / don't kill) and the kind of pragmatic compromises hero society / HPSC taught him as well as Keigo's own perception of Jin being a "good person" and his evaluation of him as the biggest threat.
Basically Keigo's arc goes something like this: idealistic young boy -> groomed by HPSC for efficiency and following of orders -> infiltrates villain organization as a spy -> gets to know a sympathetic villain (Twice) on a personal level -> tries to save Twice in isolation and within the limits of hero society -> fails because he doesn't understand the human bonds Twice values -> he makes the choice to kill Twice as per his training -> aftermath as he's revealed to the public as a child of a villain / a hero who killed someone and his own struggle with the revelations about Endeavor and his own conscience about Twice -> decides to pour his energy into "fixing Endeavor" and avoids facing his own actions re: Twice -> he meets his reckoning on the battlefield when the threat posed by Twice messes up the entire plan via Toga's grief -> Hawks once again wants to deal with it by killing -> he loses his quirk and fails to stop AFO -> with nothing left to protect, he's ready to accept the consequences and stops fighting back against Toga's revenge.
Tumblr media
This story-beat parallels Endeavor's decision to finally face Toya (and die with him)
Tumblr media
They are both saved by the new gen - Endeavor by Shoto, Hawks by Uraraka. The old generation was ready to succumb to the hopelessness, even Hawks who is a self-proclaimed optimist and someone very much on the borderline between the old gen and the new gen.
So I think the storybeat missing here is some kind of resolution. MHA is an optimistic story and has set up the need for all of society to change so future Twices, Togas and Dabis don't fall through its cracks and so that it can offer villains a credible prospect of re-inclusion into society. Reformative justice if you will.
I don't really think there is a good narrative reason to kill Hawks (or anyone else from the old gen) now in the endgame. Many of them tried to sacrifice themselves - Endeavor, All Might, Edgeshot, Aizawa - but they have all been saved so far. I think that their role in the final part of the story is to get on board with the hopeful direction of the kids.
Since Hawks is the closest in age to the kids and spirit (he is the first one who really tries to save a villain) and since he's also a link between the world of villains and hero society (as the child of a villain and as a spy who infiltrated them), I think it would be natural for him to be spearheading this change. We saw in Ch 323-324 that the public won't necessarily listen to school kids, but Hawks is in a position of authority and if he gets on board with saving the villains, that can be a big push for change (basically it's the same reason the PLF wanted him for - a celebrity for their cause). So this is where the Hawks will save Toga theory comes in. He has the same blood type. There are news helicopters around. The stage is set for him to make some kind of stand that will help change the heart of the public (which was probably already moved by Ochako trying to reach out to Toga and by Toga's self-sacrifice).
I may be wrong of course, but from all the set-up, I'd find it weird if Gunga finished the way things have been left and we'd just skip to the epilogue.

“Princess… Princess, we can’t do that here…”
The luxury car heated, the increasing body heat only allowed steam to cover the windows.
“Princess… princess, f-fuck…”
Your tongue slid down his shaft, eyelids lowered as you stared up at him. The way his usually happy-go-lucky expression shifted and twisted into one of immense pressure. He covered his mouth, his abdomen heaving up and down. Sweat dripped down the front of his body, face flushed with red. His usual wild golden and crimson-tipped hair was bunched up against the back of the car seat.
“You taste so good, Kyojuro…” your voice was so breathy, the hot air only causing him to gasp and throw his head back.
Your tongue moved from the bottom back up, slowly wrapping it around the fat swollen red tip. Your dress rode up as you wiggled your hips, revealing the soft baby pink thong you were wearing under the dress. His hand came up behind you, caressing your bottom, fingers grazing and caressing your lace panties.
“So… so fucking good,” you whispered against him, “and you make me feel so fucking good too.”
Slowly you lifted your whole body up, the two of you moving in sync. His large hands came up behind you, with an extra tight grip, lifting you slightly above him. The top of your head grazed the ceiling of the car as he pulled you, shuffling his body to sit up a bit. He reached underneath you, groaning as he could feel your lips press against his own. You could feel him grab his cock, angling it perfectly. His other hand moved down towards your side, his rough fingers pulling away at your thong. Kyojuro moved it to the side, revealing your wet, dripping pussy.
You pulled away from his lips, taking this time to look him in his blazing eyes. Weaving your fingers through his wild hair,
“Kyojuroooo, fuuuuck,” you hissed, grounding your head into his shoulders as he slowly eased himself in.
He himself groaned, his sounds muffled by his lips in your hair. Slowly, you lifted and grounded your hips into him, the overwhelming feeling overtaking both your body and senses.
“Princess,” he groaned, “princess, your father is expecting us at lunch in thirty minutes we cant… fuck you feel so good… we can’t be late.”
You rode him faster and faster, tongue out licking up all the sweat dripping down his neck. The salty taste stung your tongue slightly, but it didn’t stop you from your plans. You laid small sweet kisses along his neck, before beginning to leave small love bites wherever they land.
“I’m gonna be… honest Kyo… I r-really don’t give a fuck.”
That was the last coherent thing you said before you could feel Kyojuro grab underneath your ass, before slamming his hips into you. Your screams echoed in the car, coupled with Kyojuro’s bursts and grunts. Luckily the two of you were parked in an alley, with little to no foot traffic. You were willing to bet one of your expensive necklaces that if someone was to walk by, they'd be able to hear the both of you. Imagine what they’d see,
“You should be quieter Princess, imagine what someone would say if they… if they saw you like this.”
“Or maybe you don’t care… god just look at you.”
“So debauched… and so beautiful… and all for me.”
He reached up, and pulled your head down, looking straight into your glossed-over eyes, filled with intensity and emotions. All too many at once.
“Your mine… ain’t that right Princess?”
You jumped, your knee slightly hitting the table as your name was called. You shook your head, breaking yourself away from the memory that happened a while before you arrived here. You looked around, finding your father staring at you, along with his two advisors. Behind you, you could feel Kyojuro’s warm presence come up behind you.

Deku and The Duality of Danger Sense
WARNING: PLENTY OF BNHA MANGA SPOILERS. SKIP IF ANIME ONLY!
As we know, Izuku is able to use past OFA holders' quirks as his own. 4th holder's quirk is called Danger Sense, and it activates as a strong headache to warn Izuku whenever he is in danger.
Example 1: War Arc.
Tumblr media
The first activation of Danger Sense happened when Shigaraki was attacking Deku and the other heroes. Deku is saying "my head is killing me" meaning, the more danger he is in, the more severe his headaches will be. And he may become unable to move around if he is facing too much danger.
Example 2: Deku vs Muscular 2.0
Tumblr media
The second time happened when Muscular was going on a rampage in a city. He enjoys destroying and killing, so it puts Deku in danger too.
Example 3: Deku vs Lady Nagant
Lady Nagant is an assasin and she wanted to immobilize Deku. So the quirk activated once again.
But there are a some moments when danger sense doesn't activate at all. Such as:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AFO blowing Lady Nagant up. Now I don't know about you, but I'd think someone this close to me being blown to pieces would be extremely dangerous for my own wellbeing. I'd expect losing some limbs or breaking bones. But not only Deku survived without any fatal injuries, his supposedly "danger sense" didn't bother to warn him about this at all.
Anyway moving on-
Tumblr media
Here we have another explosion by AFO done inside the empty mansion. Deku knew it was a trap, so why didn't his danger sense activate to warn him???
Tumblr media
Deku vs 1-A answers this question:
Danger sense does not activate if there isn't a real danger or malice.
So basically... despite killing past OFA holders, nuking entire cities and calling himself a "Demon Lord" AFO isn't a threat to Izuku's wellbeing.
Tumblr media
I mean look at this part, it has "Hey son! How was your day at school" kinda vibe lol 🤣 I don't remember him being this chatty with anyone else, especially with an "enemy".
I think it's really interesting how AFO doesn't trigger the danger sense but a bunch of angry civilians do. Somehow.
Tumblr media
The society is really messed up if they put a kid in danger while the big bad evil avoids hurting him lol.
Now all we need is the DFO reveal. Izuku will be safer with his long lost evil dad 🥺

Like Ik Manga and anime are two different ways of conveying the same story but shouldn't the anime have much more feels since it adds motion and sound?
Like this ep was fine, the voice acting was one of the most impressive ones that I've ever heard....but it felt very underwhelming.

Especially, when you compare it to it's manga counterpart.

Tumblr media
her best moment yet im so proud of her she said everything and more of what I wanted to say minus the cursing it's really nice to see how she traded places with katsuki this chapter ochako is screaming at people to open their damn eyes while katsuki is comforting izuku
Tumblr media
she's going up against her own parents and the general public the two reasons she wants to become a hero she wanted to make her parents money and to see people smile when they were saved and im not saying she's forgotten that sentiment but right now there's something more important that what civilians think it's saving a hero because no one else will
Tumblr media
this is ochako's best moment by far she stood up against a lot of things she would have never been ok with she's changed so much before she was scared of saving katsuki and now she's like no. fuck you. idc about the backlash I get from the public idc if deku doesn't want to be saved I will save him because he is not ok
Tumblr media
this is uraraka ochako at her finest. I refuse to accept any slander on her because this right here more than the toga fight more than her thoughts of letting deku go THIS is her raw power. she's done with society's bullshit of not seeing heroes as human. she's done staying silent
also I have a meta on the civilians in bnha coming up today (would write it rn but my mom is screeching my ears off lmao) so stay tuned for that
