Eijun ducked a neon green glob as it flew toward his face. On immediate contact with the ground, the acid hissed as fumes rose from the slow-spreading puddle. While he may have avoided one, Eijun still had to jump over another spot of toxic ooze. This wasn't anything new, however, as a good portion of the floor now had a rancid layer of acid. The toxic puddles themselves had quickly grown to be a problem with how frequently they were shot out from all orifices of the toads.   The battle initially began nice and organized, per usual. They divided into teams to focus on each toad. Miyuki and Yui made first contact with their designated boss as the whole team began the assault to whittle the damned things down. The melee struggled quite a bit, what with the natural poisonous slime that coated the toad's bumpy flesh, causing any who made direct contact to suffer from their toxin. Eijun spent a good portion of time bouncing around from melee to melee, in an attempt to cleanse them all repeatedly.

Fics That Have Changed My Life
(AKA all my absolute fav fics across all my fandoms)
Akeshu
L’appel du vide by Xov
Akechi Goro is alive – one of his biggest regrets is alive and standing in front of him looking like he’s ready for some highbrow sports photo shoot when what he really needs is five years intensive therapy and at least five more steps away from Akira. No, no, no – the universe is not allowed to shove this on him so soon after it just flung him three fucking years into the past.
and i felt the fever coming. [oh the wreckage follows] by shenyanigan
Kurusu Akira has survived a lot over the past eighteen years of existence. A false assault charge. A police-sanctioned scopolamine overdose. Bringing a butter knife and twelve penis demons to a fight with god. Learning that yellow was definitely not a color that suited him, no matter what Ann and Yusuke tried to tell him (and no matter how much that gutted him, because damn, those dungarees were cute). He is, in Futaba’s words, “if the ‘I lived, bitch’ meme were a person.” So it comes as a bit of a shock that the last straw is a cold, of all things.
And even more on my separate list of fav Akeshu/Shuake fics!!!
Joshneku
Fate and Other Impossibilities by Lelek
Neku's never wanted to be special. He just wants to be. After three years in Shinjuku, that may no longer be possible.
Unreal Cities by Lelek
Three years is a long time to be dead, trapped in an endless loop of a city's final days and trying to understand what happened to it. No one told Neku that going back to his own life would be the hard part.
1000 Wishes Between Me and You by astersatdawn
He thinks if his life were to be viewed by an outsider they would liken him to a post-apocalyptic movie protagonist: quiet, wandering a ghost town, entering homes and stores and taking the things of use and leaving the carnage behind, and maybe they wouldn’t be wrong; the only difference Neku can think of is he still can’t bring himself to consider Shinjuku completely gone.
long spring rains by lostsunsets
“It must have— really sucked, right?” Shiki says cautiously, delicately, as if she’s wary that Neku may shatter at any given moment. “Being trapped like that, alone.” Neku returns her gaze with a sheepish kind of smile. He isn’t supposed to talk about his time in Shinjuku, his three year time lapse, all of it— but he figures that Joshua owes him just a little.
now i’ve found some clarity by jesstiel (jseca)
Neku's been waiting for Josh to reappear for two years now, since he won the Game and helped save Shibuya. Despite returning to the RG, a part of him is still tied to the UG, a tenuous connection that he can’t quite bring himself to cut. When Josh finally does deign to make an reappearance, Neku realises that sooner or later he's going to have to choose: the RG, or the UG? Set in a world where Another Day didn't happen, exactly, but still contains major NEO TWEWY plot spoilers
Miyusawa
Situation Normal by Sapphylicious
Miyuki turns into a catboy overnight and some changes are easier to deal with than others.
The path we walk by WindsOfTime
Eijun goggles at the magazine she just shoved into his hands. "W-Wakana!" "I know!" she says, beaming. "That's my soulmate!!" "I know!!" "My soulmate plays baseball!!"
Phantasm by sunbaemint
When humans assassinate their own kinds, they call it a massacre. When humans slaughter otherworldly beings, they name it an exorcism. Sawamura Eijun, however, stands in between.
Flower Marks by bakamura-eijunn (fairietailed)
“You’re a puzzle. A beautiful mosaic of flowers and sunshine and you." -- In which everyone on Earth is born with a flower on their skin, and Sawamura Eijun wears his heart on his sleeve.
Jackpot by Vixenfur
"You know, I'm almost convinced that it was Miyuki Kazuya's bright idea to put a goddamn sex shop right inside of a perfectly normal cafe!" Sawamura threw up his hands. "If it weren't for that place, I wouldn't be as worked up as I am right now!" Haruichi tapped his chin as he nodded along to his roommate's rant. "That does seem like something he'd do... but I don't think that's the only reason you're so worked up over this, Eijun." A college, coffee shop & sex shop AU all in one!
Appeal by Franks22
Eijun’s heat comes three years early, and despite the attention he’s suddenly inundated with, the one Alpha he truly wants to spend it with still feels woefully out of reach.
Ruined Plans by Reyschien
Eijun hasn’t seen Miyuki since he graduated. Sure, they’ve talked plenty since then but it pales in comparison to seeing him in person and getting a glimpse at what months of separation have done to his old partner. They say that distance makes the heart grow fonder and while Eijun has found that to be true, his affections for Miyuki swelling until his heart is fit to burst, he finds that that’s not the only thing that’s grown.
Hall of Fame by Alia_Varrin
Sawamura Eijun has always aspired to be the strongest ranged class that the world has ever seen, however, growing up in a small town, in an even smaller guild didn't amount to a lot of opportunities to really test his abilities. Though, when he is given the chance to join one of the strongest guilds, Seido, he is reluctant. After circumstances befall his guild and with the persistence of his friends, Eijun ventures out to a much larger world of facing the most deadly of beasts with a new guild to help him grow and advance in ways he would not have been able previously. AKA, the one in which baseball teams are guilds and they fight through dungeons and raids with swords and magic for sport.

Morse Code by Miss Emotion
Kudo Shinichi had a bad habit, he tapped his thoughts in Morse code. Bad because if Kuroba Kaito just happened to catch his musings about how he was entertaining the different positions the thief could bend him into... Well it wouldn't be good.
Endless Chase by Desperatembrace
With the Organization on the move for unknown reasons, Shinichi's back to singing his old tune and devoting his entire being—despite coming down with an oddly persistent illness—to taking them down once and for all. Oh, and KID gets involved, too.
Scion by Cleflink
In a world where everyone has an Inheritance, Shinichi hates having to hide the fact that he's a Fire Scion almost as much as he hates being a Fire Scion in the first place. When a KID heist gets complicated by the appearance of an underground smuggling ring, Shinichi's going to have to use every advantage he's got - including his own unwanted Inheritance and a certain irritating Moon Scion phantom thief - to get out of things alive.

cinders by 730kc (94k)
"That still doesn't explain what happened back there." The guard just smiled, mysterious, as he snapped his fingers. After the poof of smoke cleared, a rose flourished from his hand. "As expected of the Royal Inspector. Always wanting to know the truth and pick apart the wonders of magic." Conan stared at him as Kaito laughed, light and playful. He tucked the rose into Conan's hand. "Why don't you try dreaming a little?"[Kaishin medieval fantasy AU with a kick of black magic; Shinichi has shrunk, and Kaito is assigned to be his guard.]
The Trust in the Mistrust by cleflink

Let’s Go Get Lost by speckled_dragon
Shinichi always knew he’d leave when no one needed him anymore. He just hadn’t expected anyone to chase after him.
Where the Sky Touches the Sea by cleflink
Personally, Kaito would rather not get into his tragic backstory with his favourite detective, but involuntary physical transformations had an unfortunate way of forcing one's hand.
The Snowy Mountain Bus Crash Case by cleflink
A road trip to meet Sleeping Kogoro's newest client gets derailed when a fatal bus crash nearly takes Shinichi, Ran and Kogoro out along with it. Trapped on an isolated mountain road with the other survivors, Shinichi begins to wonder how much of an accident it really was - and how he's going to stop the person responsible from finishing the job.

Welcome to the Cultys by duplicity
Harry had two main regrets in his life: 1. Asking the question “What if I set up a mock awards show to get cult leaders to show up for my thesis study?” and 2. Responding with “That is hilarious” when Ron had suggested they call the awards show 'The Cultys'.
Kisses Cursed by The_Fictionist
Fairytale AU. Loosely inspired by Beauty and the Beast. Some said he was once a man, cursed, and some that he sold his soul to demons and became one in turn. Others said that such evil as he could never have been human. That he was instead a nightmare, left lingering upon the earth a very long time ago. Harry just knew it wasn't safe to walk near the Riddle House after dark.
You’re Quite the Problem by wulcanbiology
One comment in a fit of anger costs Harry his reputation, safety, and sanity. What will Harry have to do to earn it all back?
draw me after you (let us run) by ToAStranger
“Harry Potter,” comes the soft, sibilant hiss of a voice he has heard in his dreams, in his nightmares, in his waking hours for years.  Slowly, carefully, Harry twists over and pushes up onto his hands and knees.  He stays there, short breath fogging in front of his face, and his pursuer lets him.  Harry has no doubt of that; he’s being allowed this respite. This small moment to catch his bearings, heart pounding in his ears, blood singing. “It seems I have finally caught you.”
The Weight of Gravity by Skylanian_Writer
In May 1995, Harry Potter disappears from a graveyard. In August 1996, Harry Potter is found in muggle London. In September 1996, 16 year old Tom Riddle appears at Hogwarts searching for the boy he had spent the last year with. It only gets more complicated from there.

the space between words by Lea

more than a spell or a chant by Lea

Frenrey
Human Resources Violation by KogoDogo
Spiritual Successor to "It Came From the Vents." Gordon Freeman has spent three years trying to stabilize the AIs he befriended after a disastrous end to a military project. He's stolen company property, ignored his family, and neglected himself in hopes of success. Now that he's made progress, it's becoming increasingly apparent that one of the AIs in question may not be a program at all. No one can say for certain what this revelation will lead to, but one thing's for sure: HR is going to have a field day with this one.
In Which Gordon And Benrey Are Trapped In A Room Together by bennybonny
Freeman turns to the eldritch abomination and sighs. "Okay. Okay. So - if we're stuck in here together - we might as well play something to pass the time. A game." "nice," Benrey says. "I love   playing games." (alternatively: The One In Which Benrey And Gordon Get Stuck In A Room And Need To Work Together In Order To Escape!)
run away (into my arms) by scriptdoctors
It was then that he realized just how unnaturally silent the forest was. The only sound to be heard was Gordon’s own heavy breathing as he turned from side to side. It was as if every animal was collectively frozen, holding their breath as they hid out of sight. The air hung heavy in the air, thrumming with a nervous energy as not a single breeze went by. It felt as though time had stopped and Gordon was caught in a loop, unknowing until just then. A twig snapped in the distance. Gordon spun around and faced the noise. In the distance among the tree line was a tall and dark shadow, unnaturally still.
Ommatophilia by CookiesVersusCream
What starts out as Gordon taking a moment for himself turns into so much more.
Speechless by Antilocapra
It took a ridiculously long time for the rest of the Science Team to realize that Gordon had lost the ability to talk. In their defense, though, it took him quite a while to notice himself.
DIY your Freeman series by Cazp
Gordon Freeman was supposed to die. Gordon Freeman didn’t die. Benry was supposed to be alone. Instead he picked up a pretty little pet.
Succ Au series by NiamhofTirnanOg
Gordon needed grant money and he needed it quick. What else was there to try but to summon a demon? What could go wrong?
Microwave by StupidSexySlimeGod
Sometimes, you just need to go out into the middle of a national forest, run deep into the night, and get railed by a giant space god. You know. For sport.
The Bet by spectralHarpy
Benrey and Gordon are having a couple friendly rounds of Mario Kart... until Benrey brings up an idea to make things a little more interesting.
Buzz Buzz Am I rite by MtMoon
Hlvrai happened and now Benry exists on Gordon's computer as a fucked up desktop buddy [ think Bonzi Buddy]. He can also take over phones, game systems, and anything that connects to wifi and/or bluetooth
Get To The Good Part by crowbar_sfx
“I need to stop thinking,” Gordon interrupts, climbing across the couch and straddling their thighs. He rides that spike of bravery and shoves his face into their neck, breath puffing over Benrey’s ear, confidence peaking when they shudder helplessly. “Make me stop thinking, Benrey. Please.”
Cracking Open A Cold One by BullRun
“you seen this before?” The man was talking at a normal volume in a rumbly monotone. “What?” Gordon startled and glanced over at the creep sitting next to him. He tried to keep his voice down, like you were supposed to in a movie theater. “It’s– No. I haven’t.” The man hummed. It somehow sounded both disbelieving and dismissive. He fiddled with his trucker cap in the dark. Gordon turned back to the movie. Some dudes were standing around for some reason. Plot was happening, maybe. He couldn’t focus on the dialogue. Who the fuck was this guy to judge him? The annoyance prickled under his skin as he fumed in silence. The guy clicked his tongue.Gordon’s self control snapped. “First of all, its still in fucking theaters. Why would I be paying to see it if I’ve seen it before? And second, I heard this movie is terrible.”

Taste Test by iguana8llama
Rubbing the dark circles under his eyes with a wet hand, Vincent sighed out the smoke. He needs new menu ideas, the bistro has cycled through a few of the same combinations too many times as of late. Flicking the ash off into the water, Vincent brings the cigarette to his lips and sucks in another lung full. Wonder what Lamoree’s favorite food is?
Giramy
But there's only one throne (and other such excuses to stick together) by 3x3

Sneak peek of Thief’s Carnival, aka something I’ve been working on for a while
Tumblr media
It smelled like lust. It smelled like decadence. Tonight it was all about forgetting the past and escaping behind the masks, codling the muse of pleasure and transforming the self. This was a night to shed inhibitions, of partial truths and half lies. It was the night that marked the beginning of the Carnival.
The Carnival turned Venice into a stage and made everyone a performer. Foreigners became locals, men became women, and the commoners became nobles.
“I don’t know why we have to attend these balls. The mask is uncomfortable,” Kuramochi huffed behind him.
“Learn to enjoy yourself, Kuramochi. It’s a lovely night, the food is good and the wine sweet.” Kazuya filled a glass and handed it to Kuramochi. “Quit complaining, mind you?”
“You only say that because you love the attention they’re giving you.”
“Maybe,” Kazuya conceded. “I long for beauty, yet mediocrity seems keen on following me around.” Kazuya glimpsed Kuramochi rolling his eyes.

Even though Miyuki doesn’t really have to bother since he’s got his own things to do, he always keeps watch over Sawamura - whether it’s from a distance or up close and personal (like in this instance). And as usual - Miyuki antagonises, Sawamura reacts and we love every moment!

Alright so far this MiyuSawa fic is...
51 pages
23311 words
8 chapters
3 months in the making
I have no idea how I have written so much and I don't think I'm close to the halfway point at all. I am still setting up some things, but the story is moving forward at least!!
I want to get a good chunk of the story written before I go back and edit things. Once edits are done, I'll post the story on AO3, but I think that's still a VERY long way off (damn you grad school)
Even if no one reads it, that's fine because I'm really writing this for myself 😂 I love MiyuSawa, I had a idea that wouldn't leave my head. I will feel immense self satisfaction once I finish it 😌

do you have any dna fic recommendations?
BOY DO I..... there’s two other asks i’ll get to soon but i jumped on this one bc BOY i do.. these will be mostly miyusawa, with some chrisawa and chrismiyu sprinkled in... also majority will be long fics so sorry
in honor of me binging atla on netflix ... and reading the atla miyusawa au again bc of it .... and the inevitable ideas for an au of my own that i get ... crown medallion by followingthesky.. SUCH a good story.. it twists characterizations a little bit (appropriately, given the context n environment) and its so fitting it’s one of my favorite dna fics of ALL time
only fools rush in by drunkonwriting... another msw fic but so so so good.. interesting observations of miyuki’s character but also eijun?? also some mild doses of second hand embarrassment and awkwardness but it works. it’s cute.
sleep is for the weak by stonehill .... ANYTHING by them is so good but this fic esp bc it has?? a gradual build of miyuki n eijun’s relationship but it also touches on actual conflicts and problems that go on in canon (yips, ace conflict, bias, chris’ attitude towards eijun initially... minor spoiler but miyuki APOLOGIZES for it... Please read this one)
messages from the sun ALSO by stonehill a sweet soulmate au where everything u write on ur skin is also written on ur soulmates and it’s considered “taboo” to write to ur soulmate but sawamura eijun does not care ;’) ... also an interesting take in general bc there’s a little twist to it (nothing bad). definitely sets it apart from the usual soulmate fic.
in between the lines by i_will_think_about_it_later... not a slow burn.. steady development... the conflicts aren’t super duper heartbreaking or angsty either :’) there’s actually a particular level of maturity that i REALLY like and also tons of pop culture references that really grounds everything (some i didn’t understand but it’s still a Good Read)
we’re two in a row by oaktooat ... really Everything by her. this is a chrismiyu fic, an au if chris n miyuki grew up together. it changes canon!! changes things up for chris’ injury, the first string roster (changes that are justified with totally appropriate reasons that i wholeheartedly agree with and can understand). oaktooat takes on an impossibly wonderful characterization of miyuki and chris that i Really like just cause i think it makes miyuki a little more human and dimensional (not saying other authors don’t but.. there’s an authenticity i like). like i said any of her fics r solid tens but this one esp.
sleepwalker by 4seasons.... does not have a happy ending, more hurt and no comfort, and major character death so tread carefully!!! but if u r down for a heartbreaking, then this fic is for u. it’s a zombie apocalypse au and there’s no REAL pairing but it’s kinda hinted (it’s eijun/tetsu .. side pining from masashi too). it’s SO GOOD it’s also one of my favorites it never fails to make me cry like a baby
hardest fever by littlemachines.. this is a chrisawa fic and it’s so lovely and cute... basically pining eijun?? and they get together in the end it’s a sweet and quick read, i also rlly like their characterization in this fic i dunno why but it rlly does it for me..
once a hero by emmykay.... goodnight this is my all time favorite fic EVER ... a chrisawa pacific rim au.. as someone who LOVED the pacific rim movies and LOVES chrisawa even more ... this really does it for me. it’s three chapters but it’s a slowish development kind and there’s No Real Romance (there’s a oneshot as part 2 to it that does touch on it more directly) but it’s heavily implied and there’s something so satisfying abt the growth in their relationship that makes it rlly intimate
that is all.. i have more but they’re mostly chrismiyu or chrisawa and also this is a really long post OOPS.. thank u for the ask anon :* it was much appreciated

31- “You haven’t lost me.” 55- ”I’m not going anywhere.” [part one]
The ride to the hospital was stifling and tense. Sawamura hadn’t spoken much until they arrived, and even then it was only when absolutely needed. Miyuki stayed by his side as much as he was allowed to, until the police showed with Kataoka to ask him about what had happened. Miyuki’s ears were full of white noise as Sawamura stumbled through the events that had brought them up to this point, and he wished he could just rewind the day and hold Sawamura’s hand all the way to the bathroom like a child. His fingernails dug into the soft bits left on his palms until he felt a warmth across his shoulders and at his side. Looking up, he saw Sawamura pressed against him, his arm pulling him in close.
“I’m not going anywhere,” He told the pitcher, leaning forward to get a closer look at his tense expression. “You don’t wave to pin me down.”
Sawamura shook his head, pulling tight enough that Miyuki nearly flinched.
“Oy, Sawamura...” He turned, sliding his own arm around Sawamura and pulling him in. “What happened today is never going to happen again, do you understand me?”
Sawamura shuddered, leaning into Miyuki. It always hurt to hear silence when he was around the normally boisterous pitcher, and Miyuki couldn’t help but wonder just how shaken up he was beneath it all.
“I’m okay,” he finally said, startling the catcher.
“Hah?”
Sawamura looked up, the look on his face not one he was expecting. He looked much calmer than Miyuki had assumed he’d be. Sawamura’s free hand came up and Miyuki jumped as there were suddenly fingers treading through his hair.
“You look like a mess,” Sawamura mumbled. “Were you that worried?”
Miyuki looked down at him, gaping in shock. “Was I worried?”
Sawamura met his eye, and didn’t backtrack. “Miyuki Kazuya.”
Miyuki held his gaze for as long as he could before letting out a haggard sigh and leaning forward, clenching his eyes shut as his forehead hit Sawamura’s shoulder.
“You haven’t lost me, Miyuki-senpai,” Sawamura said. “So please don’t look so upset.”
“I’m going to be very upset for a while, Sawamura,” Miyuki said. “And nothing you can say will stop that.”
“Then… want to catch for me?”
Miyuki tilted his head slightly to send him an ‘are you serious?’ glare. Of course he was.
“You seemed pretty worried about my arm, and there’s no better way to make sure I’m in top shape!”
Miyuki flinched at the sudden volume, but it was also a relief to have an eardrum burst once more.
“I think maybe asking the doctor might just be a good way, too.”
Sawamura’s expression faltered as he scrambled for recovery. “What would they know! They’re doctors!”
Miyuki snickered, holding Sawamura tight for just a moment longer before pulling away from him. “Oy, you might not want them to hear you saying that...”
“Then, let’s go! Catch for me, Miyuki Kazuya!” Sawamura grabbed Miyuki’s jacket, hauling him up from the chair.
“Were you cleared by the doctor, Sawamura?” A startling voice asked from behind him.
Sawamura nearly left the ground as he spun around. “Coach!”
Kataoka motioned towards the door. “Let’s go back to campus. It’s getting late.”
Miyuki slid in beside Sawamura, an arm around his shoulders guiding him to follow the coach. “Looks like you’re going to have babysitters for a while, Sawamura.”
Sawamura blanched for a moment, stumbling on his feet.
“We can’t even trust you can go to the bathroom on your own, how can we ever let you be by yourself again?” He was only partially teasing, feeling like he really wouldn’t be able to leave him alone; especially if the police hadn’t dealt with his assailants just yet.
“We’ll hold a meeting tomorrow before breakfast to set up a schedule.” Kataoka decided.
“C-Coach! Wait, not you, too!”
Miyuki’s arm slipped from Sawamura’s shoulders as they reached the door, Rei waiting outside by a cab.
“We can get ‘if lost please return to Seidou’s baseball team’ shirts and everything,” Miyuki cackled, opening the backseat for Sawamura.
“Miyuki Kazuya! When did you start being such a bastard again! I knew your being nice was too good to be true!”
Miyuki snickered, ruffling Sawamura’s hair as he got in the car to make sure he didn’t hit his head on the roof. “Didn’t you know, Sawamura? I’m mean, very mean. I’ve never been nice.”
He slid in after Sawamura, making sure the boy had his seat-belt on right as he wailed about how mean he was.
“You can repay my earlier kindness by getting me a drink when we get back.”
“Miyuki, please stop agitating him until we get out of the car at least.” Rei pleaded.
Miyuki snickered, leaning back in his seat and watching the pouting boy next to him. A loud Sawamura was much more honest about his feelings, so a loud Sawamura he would make until he heard every thought he had swimming around in that head of his.

MiyuSawa on Omegaverse

Miyuki: Ah~ got it! I'll leave now, sorry for hogging the public vending machine!
S: THAT'S NOT IT! I just got surprised!.... But-
M: mhmm?
S:...you should hurry up and leave or...just move a few feet away.
M: ah... Right, your heat is coming, right? According to that schedule you gave me.
S: That's it! So just hurry up and keep distance!
M: *starts walking away* so? Are you going on another break or will you pull through with meds and your so called will power? Not that the latter worked last time.
S: Ugh! Who's fault do you think it was?! Ah-
M:....
S: sorry...
M: I... You already know this but I've no intention of touching you...
S:...
M: this whole fated thing is such a bother... We just want to focus on koushien...

M: ah... That's not- ugh
S:....
M:...
S: *starts using the vending machine* well- the bother sawamura eijun will be leaving now!
M: ugh... That's not what I-
S: ALSO! Since last time my will power didn't work, rei-san and the boss asked me to take care of it properly rather than using medication, too much might make it not work after all... So I'll be out of the dorm for the day and see if I can go back the next.
M: out of the dorm? Take care of your heat? Huh? Don't tell me you-
S: they booked a room at a hotel nearby.
M: *internal scream* .....wait, just wait... That's ... You're gonna be alone right? *DESPERATE*
S: of course! It's be embarrassing taking care of my heat with rei-san supervising. What are you thinking about?
M: *I wasn't thinking it was with rei-chan!* Go-got it...
S: Then, I'll be leaving now!
M: Wait!
S: Annoying! What is it now?!
M: .... you're-
S: mhm?
M: ..you're not a bother
S: huh?
M: no way near one.... For me and the rest of the team.
S:....
M: also...
S: also?
M: for now...
S: you've been whispering the whole time you know that? I can barely hear-
M: FOR NOW! I want to focus on koushien! It's also your dream right? So even if I wanted to hurry up and touch you and make you mine, I'll endure it!
S: Heh?
M: I'll endure even if it kills me! *Gah it's killing me*
S:....
M:....
S:...
M:....after... I made a decision to wait until you graduate.
S: ....
M:....well? *Please give me a reply!*
S:... *Walking away*
M: Eh?! Sa-sawamura? *Was it too early? No, with what happened last time, I had to say it clearly and quickly before more misunderstandings happens*
S: ....used shirt
M: huh?
S: can you lend me one? One of your used shirt...
M: ugh?!
S: please allow me to use it...for tomorrow..or maybe tonight, I'll call rei-chan..if I can go now
M: ...
S: you can smell it right?
M: *more internal screaming*
S: just saying...this is your fault, so lend me a shirt
M:....got it.
S: I promise I'll wash it after.
M: no, please don't wash it
S: ugh! *Bluuuuuush*
M: also, I'll call rei-chan, you just stay here, I'll call kuramochi to turn alphas away from here too, I'll come back with rei-chan and a shirt!
S:...eh? Yeah
M: then- *starts leaving hurriedly*
S:.....graduation, two more years huh...

November shopping - last part
I know it’s already December, but these arrived during November and today was the first day I could actually take pictures of them.
So no manga and dj in this batch, but I have the first calendar of 2020 (HQ!! and I am in love with it: its 13 pages + cover! Old and new anime style and even manga style - less slice of life, more professional, focusing on the teams and each arch). I also got 2 more nendos - Todoroki (to join Midoriya and Bakugou finally) and Lan Wangji (Wei Wuxian is thrilled XD).
I got a few merch of Given, including the CD of the single, Fuyu no Hanashi. Since I ordered on time, I also got a clearfile with it (it was random of two and I preferred this one so yaaaay! XD). The standees are enourmous, the biggest I got so far. A MiyuSawa chibi keychain set - I like this type of chibi.
I got my first official T-shirt and it’s MOB! Black with red 99% printed on it, so it’s cool. I bought a few second hand figures and charms: HQ!!, YOI, T&B, SnK, Free!, Gintama and EVA ones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I already made a separate post about it but the thing I bought at Hachi sales got here as well. Took nicer pictures of the rubber straps/charms with my most favorite characters and a few newcomers.

Last but not least, my two latest baka sons from Enen no Shouboutai:

"Okumura Koushuu?" Yuuki stated though his eyes remained locked onto the piece of parchment in front of him.
"Yes."
"Class?"
"Berserker."
"Main role?"
"Tank."
EIjun's eyes darted between Yuuki and Okumura as the interview progressed. Though the conversation itself wasn't very riveting.
It just so happened that Eijun had been with Miyuki and Haruichi when Yuuki hunted Miyuki down to sit in for the interview. Out of boredom and curiosity, Eijun tagged along and no one said anything about it; maybe except for Okumura, though he hadn't vocally spoken his inquiries, instead, sent Eijun the occasional side-eye. It didn't help that Yuuki introduced himself as the captain and Miyuki as the main tank, yet here Eijun sat, currently nameless.
They were settled in one of the smaller, unused conference rooms in Seido, with he, Yuuki, and Miyuki sitting on one side of the sole wooden table, while Okumura was on the other. Okumura was rigid in his chair, yet his eyes were narrowed into a glare; whether from anger, nerves or that was simply how his face was, Eijun couldn't be sure.
Being witness to the interview brought Eijun back to when he first arrived at Seido, which was a vastly different experience than what Okumura had to sit through. Befuddled, Eijun leaned closer to Miyuki, and with a hand shielding his mouth he whispered, "Why is this so different than when I joined?"
So far, Miyuki had been leaned back in his chair, arms folded across his chest the entire duration of the interview. Even now, his gaze was hyper-focused on Okumura, almost as if he were searching him for something. However, because of that, Miyuki didn't respond right away. In fact, he took so long that Eijun had to wonder if he even heard the question at all. Yet, just when Eijun began to debate asking again or waiting until after, Miyuki tilted his head toward Eijun, eyes still trained on Okumura, and mumbled, "You were recruited. He applied."

Toward That Summer Sky a Diamond no Ace fanfiction
Rating: T
Pairing: Sawamura/Narumiya (Established Relationship)
Words: 6,864
Plot: Sawamura meets up with Narumiya after the Seidou and Ichidai Sankou semifinal game. While he isn’t initially pleased to meet up with him, he realizes something after meeting up with him.
Set during the spring tournament of Sawamura’s second year. It starts after Seidou’s game with Ichidai Sankou, and it finishes after Inashiro’s game with Teitou.
Spoilers for Act II chapters 43-49.
A.N.: So while I will always love Miyusawa, I recently fell in love with Meisawa. My brain refused to stop thinking about plot bunnies for them.
So y’all get a story about them.
(This is my first time writing Meisawa, and I’m a little nervous about how I wrote them. Hopefully, they aren’t too out of character.
This was meant to be 1000-2000 words. I failed.
This was supposed to be a one shot, but I might continue if plot bunnies help me with the other chapters.)
I couldn’t fit it in the story itself, but Sawamura still met Amahisa in the hallway with Amahisa bugging him about his pitches. And they still exchanged LINE contact information.
I hope y’all enjoy it!
They lost.
Despite Sawamura performing well not only in pitching but also batting (much to the surprise of his teammates) …
Seidou lost.
As much as he tried to help his team, he couldn’t do anything to help them win.
Sure, his pitching was the reason why Ichidai Sankou stopped at five runs in the fifth inning, effectively putting a stop to Ichidai Sankou’s momentum and not allowing even a hit in the later innings.
And he even managed to hit a double off Amahisa Kousei, Ichidai Sankou’s ace.
While most people would feel satisfied with their performance, he didn’t feel any satisfaction.
At all.
It would’ve been better if he managed to hit a home run.
Maybe that would’ve helped his team win.
And while he still felt irritated, frustrated, and disappointed about Furuya Satoru’s performance; he knew most of those emotions were directed toward himself.
If he had been more reliable as a pitcher, that pitcher substitution would’ve come earlier.
So it was his fault they lost.
Not Ace-sama’s.
His.
ZZZ
Sawamura thanked Kominato Haruichi for helping him with his cooldown in a quiet voice, already heading in the direction of the dugout to grab his bag and an ice pack for his shoulder, oblivious to his closest friend’s concerned look.
It wasn’t until after he put on the ice pack and buttoned his jersey that he registered that they had company.
He looked away from his bag, noticing Inashiro players already making their way through the door and setting their bags down.
Some of them noticed him, catching his eye and bowing their heads politely.
Judging by how polite they were, maybe they were Inashiro’s reserve players?
They probably didn’t even know who he was, only recognizing his Seidou uniform.
And while that thought made his blood boil, he knew he couldn’t do anything about that now.
He bowed his head, exchanging the polite greeting.
Not in the mood to be scolded for lingering too long, he quickly picked up his bag and headed in the direction of the exit.
But if Inashiro was playing, then that meant…
He paused by the exit, eyes already looking around the dugout for a familiar blond.
His eyes widened as blue eyes immediately locked onto his from the field.
Narumiya Mei had a frown on his face, but upon noticing that he managed to lock eyes with him, jerked his head in the direction of the dugout door.
He did it quickly, making Sawamura blink.
He continued to watch as Narumiya held up two fingers, causing him to squint and wonder if his eyes were working properly.
Was that… a victory sign?
At first, he thought Narumiya was telling him to leave and that Inashiro would win, unable to stop the irritation at the blond’s arrogance.
But it quickly died as Narumiya pointed to himself and jerked his head once more.
Was he… Was he telling him that he wanted him to wait for him?
Oh.
His heart couldn’t help but race at the thought, mind already remembering the last time he saw him.
It had been a while since they could meet.
Narumiya narrowed his eyes, making him belatedly realize he was probably taking too long to reply.
Sawamura flashed a small sheepish smile, nodding.
As soon as Narumiya had his reply, he smirked as he shooed him away with one hand, already turning back to his warmup without a second glance in his direction.
Sawamura huffed, tempted to yell at Inashiro’s ace.
He wasn’t a dog!
But as much as he felt tempted, he really wasn’t in the mood to start yelling.
Which was odd behavior for him.
But he was allowed to feel upset about the loss, and anyone who thought differently clearly didn’t know him that well (or had never lost before).
Grumbling about the ace’s behavior, he promptly turned around and exited the dugout.
ZZZ
Sawamura tapped his foot, impatiently waiting for Narumiya.
He had decided to wait in the room behind the bench, not wanting the other pitcher to walk too far away from his team.
The longer he waited, the more irritated he felt, though.
Of course, he understood that the other pitcher was in the middle of his warmup.
And normally, he wouldn’t mind waiting.
If it were under different circumstances.
His teammates were probably looking for him, and while he really wanted to see Narumiya, this wasn’t the time or place to do it.
For a few moments, he entertained the idea of leaving.
The other pitcher didn’t tell him to wait a specific amount of time. He just held up two fingers, somehow expecting him to understand.
What did that even mean?
Was he supposed to wait two minutes?
Two hours?
Or maybe he meant that he would meet him after the game was over?
But despite entertaining the idea of leaving, he stayed put.
He wasn’t staying put because Narumiya told him to, though.
He was waiting for Narumiya because he wanted to.
There was a difference.
But still…
That didn’t mean he was alright with waiting an unknown amount of time for him.
Especially when he wasn’t in the mood to deal with his boyfriend’s antics.
His boyfriend could be very childish at times. Other times, he was, to put it bluntly, a jerk.
But at the same time, it had been months since they had last seen each other.
And while he enjoyed texting him and hearing his voice over the phone, it wasn’t the same.
He definitely preferred meeting in person rather than having to rely on his phone to speak to him.
But both were always busy with baseball practice and could never find time to meet up. He couldn’t remember the last time he and his boyfriend had the same day off.
Which was why they had to make the most of small moments like these.
If he was honest, they were never enough.
He wanted to see his boyfriend more.
… Not that he would ever tell him that.
That would only boost his boyfriend’s already huge ego.
Which was the last thing Sawamura wanted.
When a few more moments passed, his eye twitched, tempted to leave and try to catch up with his boyfriend later.
Who did his boyfriend think he was?
If he said that in his boyfriend’s presence, his boyfriend would probably reply that he was the best southpaw of the Kanto region, winking cheekily at him for good measure.
… This was ridiculous.
He was ridiculous for waiting this long.
Just as he was about to start heading out, someone opened the door, making him blink at the light that entered the dark room.
A familiar blond stepped into the room, looking around for his boyfriend and frowning at how dark it was.
Upon spotting him, he let the door close behind him and walked over.
Sawamura watched as the other pitcher stopped a few feet away, unable to stop himself from narrowing his eyes.
And he probably would’ve scolded him for keeping him waiting if Narumiya didn’t beat him to it.
“Are you alright?”
Out of everything he could’ve asked or even said, he chose to ask that?
Tempted to laugh humorlessly, he shook his head. “Do I look okay? We lost!”
He would’ve continued speaking if it wasn’t for Narumiya stepping into his personal space and nodding.
“I know. I was looking forward to playing against Seidou again,” Narumiya said, giving him a pointed look, as if letting him know exactly who he had wanted to face off against. A smirk quickly formed, causing Sawamura to look at him suspiciously. “Not that you’re ready for a duel with me.”
And while the thought of his boyfriend wanting to have a pitching duel with him made him feel warm inside and… recognized, his mind immediately latched onto the latter half of what he said.
“Hah?! I’ve improved a lot since the last time we played each other, you know?” He stepped closer, jabbing his boyfriend’s chest with a finger.
Narumiya’s smirk remained on his face, unaffected by his response. If anything, he looked amused, annoying him even further. “It didn’t look that way at Koshien.” He held back the urge to laugh as the younger boy’s cheeks flushed red.
Sawamura wanted to hate the way that smirk made Narumiya more attractive than he already was. “That isn’t true! My pitching was great at Koshien!”
… For the most part.
“Who said anything about your pitching?” Narumiya couldn’t stop the laugh at his confused look. “I was talking about how you fell flat on your face.” He watched, amused as Sawamura’s whole face turned red.
“I suppose that’s one way to get your name out there. I would’ve done it with my pitching, though.” He paused deliberately. “But you already know that I did do that.”
Sawamura’s eye twitched, hands twitching at his sides, reminding himself that it wasn’t right to punch his boyfriend.
No matter how irritating and cocky he was.
He would be the more mature of the two.
Like always.
“How could I forget? You kept texting me updates.” He looked away, scowling. “Bet you enjoyed the attention, Prince of the Capital-sama.”
Narumiya grinned, looking pleased. “You were probably paying attention to any news with my name in it anyway.” His grin widened as the other pitcher looked back at him and glowered. “It was nice to receive all that attention from my fans.”
An impish gleam entered his eyes, causing Sawamura to give him a suspicious look. “It’s no surprise that I received a lot of attention from my female fans, but I also received a lot of attention from my male fans.”
Sawamura’s hands formed fists and visibly shook, reminding himself for the second time that it wasn’t right or mature if he punched the older boy.
… No matter how good it would make him feel.
He was trying to be the mature one here.
“Oh? Well, good for you. It’s too bad you’re too busy to interact with them,” he spat.
Narumiya reached out and placed his hand on the other’s shoulder, laughing as Sawamura immediately shrugged him off. “Someone’s jealous.” He barely stopped himself from snickering as the other pitcher squawked a protest.
He didn’t need to voice out loud that Sawamura had nothing to worry about.
He liked Sawamura. Not any of his fans.
But he couldn’t help but tease him, enjoying how easy it was to rile him up. “Speaking of that ‘Prince of the Capital’ title… I’m not a prince anymore. I’m the king.”
… He didn’t care about being the mature one.
Sawamura was going to punch that cocky smirk off his rival’s face.
Belatedly remembering at the last minute to use his nondominant hand, he raised his fist.
But Narumiya effortlessly thwarted his plan by leaning in and kissing him on the lips.
He froze, eyes widening at the contact.
It certainly wasn’t his first kiss, or his first time being kissed by his rival.
But he couldn’t help but be surprised, his reaction time slow due to being thrown off guard.
And while a part of him wasn’t in the mood to deal with a smug Narumiya, which he knew would happen if he kissed back, a larger part of him didn’t care, only registering that his boyfriend was kissing him.
He placed his hands on his shoulders and responded to the kiss.
… Or he would’ve if Narumiya hadn’t pulled away, an impish gleam in his eyes.
The impish gleam immediately made Sawamura suspicious, wondering if it was still possible to pretend that he didn’t enjoy the kiss.
To his embarrassment, he couldn’t stop the surprised noise from escaping as his rival pulled him an inch closer, belatedly realizing that Narumiya’s arms were around his waist now.
When did that happen?
As if he could read his mind, Narumiya snickered. “Enjoy that, did you?”
Sawamura narrowed his eyes at the smug smirk on his rival’s face, wanting to hate the way his body reacted to Narumiya and his smirks. “Jerk. I hate you.”
To his annoyance, Narumiya only laughed. “Not what you said this morning.” His grin grew as Sawamura’s cheeks flushed red.
Sawamura was beginning to think that meeting his boyfriend was a mistake.
He should’ve left when he had the chance.
His hands moved from his rival’s shoulders to his chest, attempting to push him away. “S-Shut up! Let go!”
Narumiya shook his head, tightening his grip. “I don’t want to.”
Sawamura growled, about to try and punch his boyfriend again.
But dark blue eyes caught his attention, making him freeze.
He recognized those eyes.
Whenever his rival stood on the mound, he had those eyes. Those eyes could easily inflict fear into weaker pitchers. Those eyes always made goosebumps form, knowing that he was about to witness his boyfriend’s pitching.
And those eyes were the same ones that challenged him to catch up to him.
It didn’t matter if the sun was out or not.
Those eyes tended to glow a dark blue color, and while he could remember a few times where those eyes resembled mini storm clouds, those glowing eyes tended to demand only one thing.
His attention.
(He didn’t know whether Narumiya did that knowingly or not.
But if he had to guess, he would say that Narumiya definitely did it knowingly.
That guy enjoyed competing with him and winning against him.
Not to mention, he knew that Narumiya would always feel smug at noticing that he got his attention.
It drove him crazy because he was always falling for it.)
Other pitchers had mentioned being afraid of Narumiya and wanting to stay away from him at the sight of his dark blue eyes.
But Sawamura couldn’t stay away.
Nor would he want to.
Just like how those bright blue eyes demanded his attention with the sun out, those dark blue eyes drew him in like a fisherman reeling in a fish.
And while being on the receiving end of those dark blue (other times a bright blue) eyes made his mouth dry up, he wouldn’t trade that attention for anything in the world.
Narumiya’s smirk disappeared, furrowing his eyebrows and looking confused at the lack of response. While he enjoyed the speechless reaction he received at first, he felt confused (and a little worried although he wouldn’t admit that out loud) at his boyfriend’s continued lack of response.
Sawamura kept staring at him for some reason.
And while he already knew he was attractive, he had to wonder if something else besides his good looks caused Sawamura’s speechlessness.
… Which really didn’t make sense.
Because he was Narumiya Mei and Sawamura’s boyfriend.
(Not that that seemed to matter much to Sawamura. The younger boy had no problem declaring that he wasn’t anything special and wouldn’t hesitate to insult him despite being younger than him.)
But whatever.
He was about to scold Sawamura for not paying attention when he was there with him, but Sawamura beat him to it.
“Narumiya’s attractive!” Sawamura burst out, face red. As he watched his boyfriend’s cheeks flush at the rare compliment, he belatedly registered what he said and looked away, calling himself an idiot for speaking without thinking.
Narumiya grinned, pleased at his boyfriend’s compliment. His laughter made Sawamura look back at him, narrowing his eyes. “I already knew that, but I’m glad you think so.”
Sawamura wanted to hit himself for speaking without thinking.
He really should’ve left when he had the chance.
“D-Don’t get cocky! I didn’t mean it!” he lied, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
But he could already tell by the other’s raised eyebrows and smug smirk that he didn’t believe him.
Cocky jerk.
Narumiya leaned in close, an impish gleam in his eyes. He tilted his head and kissed his cheek, grinning as he pulled away. “You are the worst liar I’ve ever met.”
He paused before leaning in close to his ear, ignoring Sawamura’s weak protests. “And you can’t take it back, Ei-jun.”
Sawamura couldn’t help but shiver at how his rival said his name, belatedly noticing the use of his given name.
He wanted to hate the way his given name sounded on his lips.
Narumiya pulled away to look into his eyes, no doubt having felt his reaction and unable to stop the smug smirk.
The worse part was that the cocky jerk knew he would react like that.
He probably would’ve opened his mouth to deny his reaction or make an excuse.
(Maybe he could say that Narumiya’s eyes were going bad?)
But before he could, Narumiya’s eyes darkened, one hand reaching up to slide around the back of his neck and pulling him into a kiss.
He gasped, immediately pressing forward into Narumiya’s arms as warmth grew inside his chest.
Their kisses were always intense, and a part of Sawamura felt worried that he enjoyed these kisses a little too much.
His boyfriend’s presence and proximity made his skin heat up, barely registering the temperature of the ice pack on his left shoulder.
A few moments later, Narumiya pulled away from the kiss, smirking his normal smirk.
No doubt, he was about to say something cocky that would anger him.
So instead of giving him the chance, Sawamura grinned devilishly, a gleam in his eyes.
It immediately had the intended effect, Narumiya’s eyebrows furrowing at the rare sight.
(Narumiya would never admit out loud how that devilish grin and gleam in his eyes suited him a little too well.
And that he hung out with a certain cunning catcher too much. To the point that he was starting to influence his boyfriend.)
But before he could speak, Sawamura took the initiative and kissed him.
Sawamura grinned wider as his rival responded to the kiss, tempted to yell his signature cheers.
He probably would’ve deepened the kiss, but he belatedly registered where they were.
And what occasion it was.
Despite remembering, it was still a long moment before he pulled away with a sigh, leaning back to look his rival in the eyes.
Narumiya frowned as he pulled away, his frown deepening at the sigh.
That was not the reaction Sawamura should have after kissing him.
(And managing to catch him off guard.
… Not that he would ever admit that to him.)
“You should go,” Sawamura murmured, unable to stop the disappointed look from appearing. If it were any other occasion, he would’ve laughed at Narumiya’s confused look. “Inashiro’s match? You guys are playing against Teitou?” he reminded.
Narumiya hummed, leaning in to press a kiss on his chin. He snickered as Sawamura spluttered, not making any sense. “I can make them wait for however long I want. I’m the ace,” he said, puffing his chest out and making Sawamura roll his eyes.
“But you’re probably right. Are you going to watch?” He paused before adding something he knew would affect his decision. “I’m pitching, you know?”
Sawamura shook his head, almost snorting.
As if the thought of Narumiya pitching had any effect on his decision.
(It did. It really did.
He enjoyed it whenever he had the opportunity to watch him pitch.
And not only that, but he would get to watch him pitch live, sitting in the stands with the rest of Seidou.
It always felt exciting and, if he were honest, awe-inspiring whenever he watched him live.
Plus, it had been a while since he got to watch his boyfriend pitch live.
He was really looking forward to it.)
Not wanting to feed Narumiya’s ego, he shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant.
He had the perfect excuse.
“I think I’ll go back to Seidou and practice my batting.”
Narumiya laughed, giving him an unimpressed look. “While I know you need all the batting practice you can get,” he said, smirking as Sawamura narrowed his eyes. “I already told you that you are the worst liar I’ve ever met, Ei-jun.”
Sawamura couldn’t suppress a shiver, hating how good his given name sounded coming off the other pitcher’s lips.
His cheeks flushed as Narumiya snickered.
“S-Stop saying my name like that,” he protested, although both knew it was a weak one.
Narumiya leaned in close, an impish gleam in his eyes. “Why? I know you love it.”
Sawamura huffed, a scowl on his face as he tried to break free to little avail.
He wasn’t stupid.
He knew what Narumiya was trying to do.
“Quit stalling! Hurry up and go!”
But his rival ignored him and placed a featherlight kiss on the top of his nose, making him huff once more. “You’re so mean. You should speak to me with more respect.”
Sawamura growled, trying to break free once more.
He was about to kick him in the shin and tell him where he could shove his respect.
But Narumiya finally let go of his waist, instead placing his hands on his shoulders. “You’re going to watch me pitch, right?”
“I already told you! I’m going back—”
“Eijun.”
Sawamura glowered, tempted to yell at him.
Using his given name like that was a low blow.
“… Fine. I’m watching it with the rest of Seidou.”
Narumiya grinned, blue eyes sparkling. One of his hands reached up to pat him on the head. “Good boy.”
He laughed as Sawamura shoved his hand off, growling at him.
“I’m not a dog, damn it!”
Before he could reply, Sawamura jabbed his chest with a finger. “You better not lose.”
Narumiya scoffed. “Who do you think you’re talking to? I’m the best southpaw of the Kanto region. I don’t lose.”
Sawamura wisely chose not to bring up how Inashiro failed to win Koshien last summer.
Or their most recent loss against Ugumori in the fall tournament.
“You will during the summer tournament.”
Narumiya blinked at the determined look on his face. His lips quickly formed a condescending smirk, finally removing his hands from his shoulders. “Oh? And who will defeat us? Seidou?”
“That’s right! This time, Seidou will win. And I’ll be the one who leads us to victory. As Seidou’s ace.”
Narumiya laughed, waving one of his hands flippantly. “You always say that. How about this time you actually prove it?”
Sawamura growled, annoyed with how Narumiya wasn’t taking this seriously. “Fine! I will! When I become the ace, I’ll prove you wrong. And beat you in the summer tournament.”
His boyfriend scoffed. “I’d like to see you try, brat.” He paused. “If you become the ace, that is.”
Sawamura’s hands formed fists and visibly shook, reminding himself (yet again) that it wasn’t right to punch him.
… Even if he was being such a disrespectful jerk.
“I will become the ace! I’ve been working hard, and I intend to work harder to make it happen.”
Narumiya shook his head, his smirk returning to his face. “Don’t work too hard, or you’ll collapse. Again.” He felt amused as Sawamura’s eyes widened, letting out a surprised noise.
“That only happened once!” he burst out. Registering belatedly what he said, he coughed, trying to look innocent. “I-I mean… That never happened!”
Narumiya raised his eyebrows, looking unimpressed.
He huffed, almost pouting. “How did you find out?”
For a few moments, Narumiya debated not telling him. It would be easier and a lot more fun for him.
Finally, he gave in, holding up one of his hands to mimic a cell phone.
When Sawamura’s baffled look remained on his face, he shook his head. “Seidou has a spy. A very sneaky spy who reports to me about you.”
Sawamura furrowed his eyebrows.
That didn’t sound like any of his teammates.
Who would have the audacity to spy on him and report to Narumiya of all people?
It had to be someone with ties to him.
… Hang on. Ties?
His eyes widened, remembering that there was someone who had ties to him at Seidou.
Narumiya snickered as he watched him think about it, amused he was taking this long to figure it out.
It was obvious once someone thought about it.
… But then again, his boyfriend was an idiot.
“That… That sneaky jerk… I could kill Miyuki Kazuya!” Sawamura seethed, tempted to punch Miyuki instead of his boyfriend.
… Or he could punch them both?
Narumiya nodded, laughing at his reaction. “Go ahead. Tell him I said hello.”
Yeah. Punching them both sounded like a great idea.
(And while he knew Miyuki only did it because he was concerned about him, he really didn’t need to tell Narumiya of all people. Sawamura didn’t tell him because he didn’t want to worry him.)
“Shut up. I don’t need you to worry about me. Concentrate on your pitching. Teitou is a tough opponent.”
Narumiya scoffed. “That should be my line. Especially if you want to become the ace.” He paused. “And maybe Seidou struggled, but we’re Inashiro. We’ll easily win.”
Sawamura doubted that, but for once, he didn’t retort.
He couldn’t help but let out a sigh, knowing that he had kept his boyfriend for too long.
Before Narumiya could speak, his hands pushed gently at his chest. “You should go. Your team is waiting for their ace.”
And it seemed as those were the magic words as Narumiya’s eyes sparkled, cheeks flushing and puffing his chest out. “I’ll make sure to put on a good show.” He winked cheekily. “Just for you.”
Sawamura’s cheeks flushed pink, this time shoving him. “I told you to stop saying stuff like that! Hurry up and go!”
Narumiya only laughed, leaning in to ruffle his hair and give him one last kiss on the cheek.
And to Sawamura’s irritation, he turned around and started walking away.
He waited for several moments before calling out to him.
“Mei, wait!”
Narumiya stopped walking and turned around, eyebrows furrowing. A grin quickly formed as he registered that his boyfriend had used his given name.
But before he could tease him, Sawamura quickly crossed the distance that separated them, grabbed him by the front of his uniform and kissed him on the lips.
Sawamura grinned as his rival responded eagerly.
That grin disappeared the next moment as Narumiya teased his mouth open, wordlessly challenging him.
And when it came to a fight or any type of challenge with Narumiya, he wasn’t going to roll over and just let him win.
Refusing to lose, he kissed him with as much passion as Narumiya was giving him.
Sawamura’s body trembled as Narumiya’s tongue darted out and licked his lower lip, feeling grateful he was holding onto his uniform as he knew his knees would go weak at the motion.
Feeling him tremble (and no doubt reading his mind), Narumiya smirked into the kiss, making him frown.
And Sawamura would’ve pulled away and protested, but Narumiya gently nibbling his lower lip made him have second thoughts.
Sawamura tilted his head, closing his eyes and pressing closer to his rival’s body.
Narumiya hummed, approving the action and darted his tongue out once more. He licked Sawamura’s lower lip, silently asking permission. Sawamura slowly parted his lips, allowing Narumiya’s tongue inside his mouth.
Sawamura moaned as Narumiya’s tongue moved inside his mouth, touching different parts of his mouth. It was a little ticklish, but at the same time, it felt like something was burning inside him with every touch. Narumiya playfully touched his tongue with his own, teasing him and coaxing him to respond.
Sawamura responded eagerly, trying to match Narumiya’s passionate and brisk pace.
Narumiya’s exploration of his mouth was making him breathless. It was unfair how good Narumiya’s kisses made him feel, and it was unfair how that cocky jerk mercilessly used that to his advantage.
But as much as he wanted to continue kissing Narumiya, his body protested at the lack of air, making him lightheaded and forcing him to pull away reluctantly.
Their breathing was erratic, and both boy’s cheeks were pink.
Brown dazed eyes opened, looking at Narumiya. He struggled to catch his breath, still feeling lightheaded and weak in the knees. “Mei…”
To his annoyance, Narumiya only smirked a smug smirk.
Determined to regain some of his usual composure, Sawamura quickly let go, glaring at him.
His legs were still a little shaky, but thankfully, they were strong enough to keep him up.
If his knees had given out, there was no telling how smug his boyfriend would get. And he really didn’t want to boost his boyfriend’s ego more than he already did.
He pointed at him. “D-Don’t misunderstand! I was just wishing you luck!”
Narumiya snickered, shaking his head. “I don’t need luck to win.” His smirk remained on his face as Sawamura glowered at him. “I’ll thank you for the kiss, though.” He winked cheekily. “Feel free to do that again sometime soon.”
“I don’t want to! Now go!”
Narumiya laughed, tempted to point out that he knew it was a lie.
But for once, though, Sawamura had a point.
He should probably get back to his team.
He leaned in to ruffle Sawamura’s hair, grinning as his boyfriend shoved his hand away.
Sawamura watched as Narumiya turned around and walked away, unable to stop himself from admiring the number one on the back of his jersey.
He unconsciously reached out with his left hand.
If Seidou had won their semifinal match, they would’ve played against Inashiro in the finals.
And while Sawamura didn’t know who the coach would’ve picked as the starting pitcher, he found himself wishing he could pitch against Inashiro. And Narumiya.
He stared at his pitching hand closely.
Could he reach Narumiya as he was right now?
Could he give Inashiro and Narumiya a tough time with his current pitches?
His left hand formed a fist, as if he was trying to grab the number one on the other pitcher’s back.
He wanted to know.
He wanted to fight it out with him again.
Deep down, though, he knew.
To become the ace, he had to get stronger.
He couldn’t stay as he was right now.
Not if he wanted Miyuki to acknowledge him.
And not if he wanted to fight on the same level as Narumiya.
The thought of fighting it out with him during the summer tournament as the ace of their respective schools…
It gave him goosebumps, his hands twitching with uncontrolled excitement.
Narumiya stopped in front of the door leading to the field and turned around.
Sawamura belatedly registered what he was doing.
His face turned dark red at Narumiya’s raised eyebrows, immediately jerking his arm back to his side.
Narumiya tried not to laugh.
He really did.
But he couldn’t stop it from escaping at the other pitcher’s face. Sawamura’s ears were red too, making him think of when his boyfriend fell flat on his face during Koshien.
He snickered, looking way too amused at Sawamura’s slipup. “What are you doing?”
Sawamura felt like one of his favorite shoujo heroines who had embarrassed herself in front of her crush.
The worst part was that he couldn’t think of anything good to say.
“A-Ah. I was just seeing if my hand could reach you.”
… And of course, he chose to go with the truth.
Why now of all times?
Narumiya burst into laughter, shaking his head at Sawamura’s stupidity. “You idiot. Of course your hand can’t reach if you’re that far away.”
Sawamura wasn’t sure how to feel, knowing that his boyfriend took his words literally.
But knowing that he was holding him up, he coughed, turning around. “S-Shut up! I know that. I’m leaving.”
He started walking over to the exit that led back inside the stadium.
What was he thinking?
Of course Narumiya would take his words literally.
He shook his head, a humorless smile on his face.
His boyfriend wasn’t the ‘comforting’ type of person anyway.
“Eijun.”
He paused by the exit, unable to stop himself from turning around at the sound of his given name.
Narumiya stared at him, an unreadable expression on his face.
Sawamura found his breath catching, mouth drying up at his dark blue eyes.
Silence enfolded them, Sawamura belatedly registering the sounds of Inashiro players yelling encouragements and getting ready just outside the room.
Just as he was about to remind Inashiro’s ace that he had to go, Narumiya shook his head, a serious expression making its way onto his face.
“We still have a few months until the summer tournament starts.”
Sawamura furrowed his eyebrows, confused at the seemingly random comment.
“… Yeah. Why are you talking about that all of a sudden?”
Narumiya ignored him. “Both of our teams will have enough time to get stronger.”
Was Sawamura missing something?
He didn’t understand what the other pitcher was trying to say.
“That’s how it works. I’ll get stronger and become the ace!”
“I don’t lose. And I don’t plan on losing during the summer tournament,” Narumiya said, ignoring him again much to Sawamura’s annoyance.
“A lot can happen before the summer tournament starts. Such as injuries.” His lips formed a condescending smirk. “But Seidou would know all about that, wouldn’t they?”
Sawamura hissed like a cat, tempted to walk over and punch that smirk off his rival’s face.
That was really disrespectful to his senpai who already graduated.
And Narumiya had the nerve to say that he was the disrespectful one.
“Are you picking a fight with me, bastard?” he roared.
Narumiya turned around, seemingly done with the conversation.
… Which infuriated him, considering what he just said.
“Oi, Narumiya Mei! Wait!”
He wasn’t allowed to leave after disrespecting his senpai like that.
Narumiya placed his hand on the doorknob, but instead of turning it, he turned his head back to look at him.
He looked unfazed by Sawamura’s attempt at imitating an angry kitten. “I suppose another thing that could happen is switching jersey numbers.” His smirk returned to his face. “Although I’m sure Furuya will be the ace again.”
Sawamura’s mind immediately latched onto the latter half of what he said, not even registering the former half.
He was really starting to regret not punching him earlier.
“Hah?! Why don’t you say that again, you jerk? I will become the ace!”
But Narumiya only shook his head, looking amused. “I’ll look for you in the stands, Ei-jun,” he said, smirking as he saw the noticeable shiver. “Text me once you get back to Seidou.”
“Who would?! I don’t want to see your face ever again!”
Narumiya snickered, and after tossing him a knowing look, he turned the doorknob and left him alone.
Sawamura seethed, his hands trembling by his sides.
He could still feel the hot anger coursing through his veins.
Who did he think he was?
After disrespecting not only him, but also his senpai, he had to become the ace.
It would be a nice way to shut that cocky disrespectful jerk up.
Letting out a yell, he stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
He walked down the hallway, a dark look on his face.
… Only to register his missing bag.
Face burning with embarrassment and grateful no one loitered in the hallway to witness his mistake, he turned around, hurriedly retracing his steps and grabbing his bag.
He paused by the exit, turning to look at where his so-called boyfriend stood and disrespected his senpai and his team.
And him for that matter.
Narrowing his eyes, he turned around and exited the room, tightening his grip on his bag’s strap.
He really should’ve punched him earlier.
ZZZ
Sawamura huffed as he sat in the stands, watching Inashiro and Teitou play.
Thankfully, he didn’t miss any of the game.
To his surprise, his teammates didn’t come looking for him, no doubt knowing he could take care of himself.
Miyuki had the nerve to send him a knowing look, though.
And while he would normally yell at him and cause a scene, he wasn’t in the mood.
So after shooting him a glower, he proceeded to ignore him.
(He hadn’t forgotten that Miyuki told Narumiya about him collapsing.
And while a part of him wanted to punch Miyuki, he decided against it.
But he would hold a grudge until Miyuki apologized to him.)
Instead of sitting with his teammates, he sat away from them, watching the game closely.
It helped that he had a better view of the game from where he sat.
And he didn’t hesitate to say so when Kuramochi Youichi invited him to sit with the rest of Seidou.
He scowled, almost growling as Inashiro’s ace struck out three batters flawlessly then proceeded to look up at the stands.
No doubt, he was looking for him.
Well, he refused to give his boyfriend that satisfaction.
He still felt the anger from earlier and was determined to ignore him.
(Not that Narumiya could see him from where he was.)
As the game continued, though, the part of him not clouded by anger slowly began taking over.
He would never admit it to his boyfriend, but it felt great watching him pitch live.
It wasn’t the same when he watched him pitch on the television.
A part of him hated to admit it even to himself, but…
His boyfriend was so cool.
He wanted to become an amazing ace.
Like him.
He would never be as cocky as him, though.
The corner of his lips curled up as he watched Teitou score a home run off Narumiya.
Serves him right.
After that, Narumiya didn’t look up at the stands, no doubt concentrating on his pitching and fully committed to shutting Teitou down.
The game quickly reached the eighth inning.
Where Teitou’s ace stood in the way of Inashiro winning.
His eyes widened as he watched Narumiya throw his whole repertoire to Teitou’s ace, shutting him down with all his might.
A frown formed on his lips, but much to his irritation, his lips twitched, threatening to burst into a smile.
That little showoff.
Narumiya looked up at the stands, dark blue eyes looking up at the Seidou players.
This time, Sawamura couldn’t stop the smile.
He still refused to call out and give him that satisfaction, though.
Watching his boyfriend pitch had put him in a better mood.
And he couldn’t help but point out how cool he was to Haruichi.
But he didn’t mention him by name.
He just said that an ace had to be cool.
As he sat on the bus heading back to Seidou, he reflected on his day.
While he still felt upset about losing, he refused to dwell on it.
He would use that frustration to get stronger.
Then he thought about Inashiro’s ace.
For a few moments, he debated not texting him.
It would serve him right after making him angry like that.
… And yet, he found himself reaching for his phone and sending off a quick text once he returned to Seidou grounds.
He was about to review his pitching from that day’s game, determined to gain something from it.
Only to remember his boyfriend’s odd behavior right before he left.
He mentioned the summer tournament, and he disrespected his senpai, Seidou, and him.
But he also mentioned something about the ace number.
Sawamura hadn’t paid much attention to the former half of what Narumiya said, only paying attention to the part that angered him.
But now that he thought about it, what did Narumiya say?
A frown formed on his face as he tried to remember.
If he remembered correctly, Narumiya said something about the jersey numbers changing?
His eyes widened, the realization punching him in the gut and taking his breath away.
Narumiya couldn’t have meant what he thought, right?
There was no way.
Whenever he brought up becoming the ace before, Narumiya never took him seriously.
He never mentioned anything about believing in him and never encouraged him.
But it had to be what he thought because he didn’t know what else it could mean.
Narumiya actually believed that he could become the ace.
He believed that he could beat Furuya.
He reached out with his left hand, imagining Narumiya’s back with the visible number one in front of him.
But unlike all the other times where Narumiya would be far away, he could easily spot that familiar back.
Sawamura imagined himself running over and catching up to him, placing his left hand on the other pitcher’s back.
Narumiya would feel the hand (or maybe even sense his presence) and turn around.
What kind of expression would Narumiya show him?
His hand formed a fist, imagining himself grabbing Narumiya’s jersey.
He would do it.
He would become Seidou’s ace.
He would become Seidou’s ace, prove that he wasn’t all talk, and…
And fight it out against him during the summer tournament.
The thought of it made his hands shake in uncontrollable excitement.
Sawamura grinned, laughing loudly.
“Just you wait, Narumiya Mei. I will catch up to you.”
An evil grin formed on his face.
Oh, he was looking forward to the summer tournament now.
He would need to get stronger, of course, and actually become the ace.
But he couldn’t wait to dethrone the king.

MISAWA HALLOWEEN AU THAT I'M NOT WRITING (this year) BECAUSE IT'S TOO LATE
Imagine Eijun being in a room he doesn't recognize like "wtf am I doing here?" He tries the lights but the power seems to be out. Luckily there's a candelabra and some matches. He starts looking around trying to guess where he is and how he got there.
Nothing of that place seems familiar to him. It's dark, old and dusty in there. and YUCK it's that a cobweb?? and another cobweb there?? and then he hears the sound of scratching nails. It comes from the walls, stops, and then starts again right under Eijun's feet.
Eijun paniks and decides to get the hell out of there. He exits the room and finds a long ass corridor with door after door on his left and huge windows on his right. He approaches one of them and looks out, but there are so many trees that he can't see anything. He knows at least this is the second floor of what seems to be an old mansion. He starts to walk down the corridor, not daring to open a single door. The shadows seem to have their own will. It's cold. He can see his own breath, but that's not what causes a shiver to run down his spine. He feels watched, and he swears he can hear the glass beads of the chandeliers tingle above him.
Golden-eyed boy, golden-eyed boy," a voice calls behind him. He turns around, but there's nothing there. He hears it again. And then he breaks into a run, with something or someone on his heels. He can even feel their hot breath on his neck. Eijun reaches the end of the corridor, sprints down the stairs and gets inside the first room he sees, locking the door behind him in a rush.
He slumps against the door, his legs giving in. He's dropped the candelabra somewhere while running, but he doesn't need it, because this room is alight.
AND THEN THE CREEPY STUFF BEGINS. There's someone in the middle of the fire burning alive but being very chill about it, you know? It's is a young girl wearing a gown. And even though her skin is melting and chunks of her flesh are falling she doesn't seem to notice. When she sees Eijun she claps her hands excitedly and goes "Oh, a guest! Do you want to play cards? I should have a deck somewhere."
Eijun freaks out and runs for his life but the door now leads to another room.
He goes from one room to the next and LOTS AND LOTS OF CREEPY STUFF HAPPENS. A PINCH OF GORE HERE, AND ADD PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR TO THE TASTE. Like idk, Eijun could find a weeping woman playing the piano inside a greenhouse but she's surrounded by dead flowers, or a living skeleton dressed in fancy clothes and a blindfold.
Eijun continues running while hearing Miyuki's voice (though Eijun doesn't know it's his voice) saying, "Golden-eyed boy, golden-eyed boy, can you hear the shouts of joy?" because for some reason everything Miyuki says rhymes.
And then he reaches a dance room where the owner of the mansion, Eijun guesses, is throwing a ball.
There are lots of people there, and judging by their clothes, they seem to have been there for decades. None of them is dancing even when there's music playing. In fact, no one seems to notice Eijun's arrival. They all have their back to him. Eijun makes his way through the crowd because that's the only way to reach the other side of the room, where the next door should be. And then he sees what everyone is watching. In the middle of the dancefloor there's a horned man (aka miyuki. with those horns that curl, you know?) wearing an old fashioned suit. He's dancing with a girl so pale she might as well be dead. (a pale queen, as I call her in my head) Eijun isn't sure she's not. He doesn't want to, but he finds himself watching them too, bewitched by the elegance of their movements and blahblahblah you know what I mean.
Their dance comes to an end, and the man looks at eijun while placing a kiss on the back of the girl's hand and smiles.
"Golden-eyed boy, golden-eyed boy," he says, holding his hand out for Eijun to take. The blood in Eijun's veins turns to ice. "Will you become my brand new toy?"
And Eijun tries to run again, but he can't. Insert more creepy stuff here. And then he wakes up in his bed.
"A nightmare," he whispers, because saying it out loud is reassuring. "Just a nightmare." And goes back to sleep. He doesn't notice the nails scratching under the floorboards, nor the voice singing, "Golden-eyed boy, golden-eyed boy, don't think you can escape my devious ploy."

@aki--no--hana  asked “Hi! Can you write Miyusawa, picking new curtains for their bedroom, please? It would be awesome if they cuddle at some point, too^.^”
And the answer is OF COURSE!
Fluff Defeats Darkness - Domestic Prompts
“This is not that hard of a decision.” Miyuki leaned on the closest rack, contemplating letting his body slither all the way to the floor. Normally, he wouldn’t consider looking anything less than flawlessly cool while in public, but Eijun’s indecisive ways were causing him to ignore all of his shelf-preservation instincts. “Pick one,” he moaned, banging his head on the shelf for emphasis.
“These are curtains... for our first apartment together. They make a statement. And they have to be perfect before my mother arrives this weekend. My mother!” Shaking the firsts full of fabric in his hands, Eijun’s eyes were comically wide.
Peeking up from his place resting on his elbow, Miyuki couldn’t suppress his smirk. Eijun’s hair was ruffled from digging through the hanging display rack and his cheeks were red-tinted from his ridiculous ranting. Reaching a hand out, Miyuki curled it in the front of Eijun’s shirt to tug him closer. “The faster you pick one... the faster we get home... where we can celebrate finally having our windows covered.”
Skimming his lips over Eijun’s, Miyuki released his boyfriend and stepped toward the strips of display curtains. He hid his own blush behind a deep blue curtain, sneaking a glance around the edge. He felt his smile tugging on the corners of his mouth seeing Eijun’s distracted expression.
“I choose this one!” Holding up a neon orange strip of cloth, Eijun waved it wildly in the air. “This one will wor- wait...” Lowering his hand in front of his face, Eijun frowned. “Please tell me you wouldn’t have agreed to this.”
Sputtering with laughter, Miyuki shook his head, flicking aside another curtain. “I would’ve let you get as far as the register then stopped you... probably...” He laughed harder when Eijun shoved him.
“Alright senpai,” Eijun’s words dripped with sarcasm as he slapped his hands to his hips. “If you are so smart, pick one.”
The jut of Eijun’s chin was adorable and Miyuki almost let himself get distracted by it. Remembering that his goal was to escape the store as soon as possible, Miyuki reached determinedly toward a swirled pattern of royal blue with hints of white and black. The color scheme reminded him of Seido and his smile went from teasing to soft as he ran his hands over the careful stitches in the hem.
“That one,” Eijun agreed, bending to retrieve several plastic-covered packages from the shelf. “It reminds me of...”
“Yeah,” Miyuki sighed, pulling Eijun toward him. Normally he shied away from such public displays, but the day of setting up their apartment had him feeling sentimental and more open to the idea. Brushing his fingers through Eijun’s hair, Miyuki brushed a kiss to his boyfriend’s forehead. “Let’s buy them and go home, okay?” He heard the waiver in his voice and tried not to cringe over his own emotion.
“Okay,” Eijun pecked a kiss to Miyuki’s lips, smiling when Miyuki only blushed and didn’t argue. “Then celebratory cuddles.” Throwing the comment over his shoulder, Eijun giggled when Miyuki flushed a deeper red.
“Yeah, yeah, all the cuddles,” Miyuki answered, feeling his heart go mushy in his chest with how happy Eijun looked.
Following his boyfriend toward the check out line, Miyuki couldn’t help the elated feeling swelling in his chest knowing that celebratory cuddles could now be an everyday occurrence in his life.
Determined to always give Eijun reasons to celebrate, Miyuki wrapped an arm around his boyfriend’s waist and smiled at the feeling of Eijun’s head resting on his shoulder.

nothing but ashes (blow them all away)
Summary: Eijun and Seidou's baseball team just want to have a nice trip to Tokyo. Unfortunately, that's apparently too much to ask for, and they find themselves caught up in a villain attack. Pre-Miyusawa.
Word Count: 5066
This is a sequel to "strike the match (let it all burn)" and part of my "We Are the Challengers (Plus Ultra!)" verse, but it can be read separately (though I do recommend reading STM first because this fic references it a lot and deals with the aftermath).
Links to both the Master List of this AU and to AO3 are in the notes.
Quirks to Know: Eijun (house cat and lion), Miyuki (quirkless), Jun (voice projection), Chris (analysis of weaknesses and strengths), Kawakami (raindrop fingers), Tanba (butterfly), Toujou (turns to rock), Kanemaru (turns to rubber)
I do not own Daiya no Ace, quirks or noumus, or the surprise cameo from Free! And as always, a big thanks to @bookdancerfics for being my beta. This fic wouldn’t be what it is now without you.
Eijun, he later admitted to himself, never expected to be in this scenario only a few weeks after a hostage situation. Tetsu had suggested a team trip—third years included—to take their minds off of what happened, and Tokyo was easily accessible. Kataoka-kantoku hadn’t taken long to approve and so off they went, Eijun and Harucchi stubbornly dragging a tired Furuya along.
“Heeey Seidou!” Jun bellowed once they arrived, hopping on a bench and ignoring the scandalized looks he received from passer-bys. “Time to split up! Everyone grab a partner and decide where to go! We’ll meet back here in—” He looked down at Tetsu, who held up two fingers. “—two hours! And don’t eat, cause we’re having a team meal! You will be held to your usual three bowls of rice!”
With that said, Jun jumped down. Eijun looked around to see everyone quickly splitting up. Harucchi waved goodbye as he was pulled by a suddenly awake Furuya towards a nearby park. Kanemaru, Toujou, Kawakami, Tanba, and Chris-senpai called for any others who wanted to visit a bookstore. Eijun fidgeted in place, unsure which group to join or where to go—
An arm wrapped around his shoulder, just shy of his neck.
“Yo,” Miyuki offered. Eijun felt his face flush, heat rising all the way up to his ears as his tail fur bristled.
“Hi?” he offered back, voice weak.
“Want to hit the road? Where do you want to go?” Miyuki peered down at him. Maybe it was the glasses blurring the image, but Eijun thought his catcher almost looked worried. He shook his head and took a second look. “No?” Miyuki asked, scandalised. Nope; not worried. Then Eijun realised what happened.
“No! I mean, sure. Uh—” Eijun cast a wild look around them. Restaurant, restaurant, comics, alley, sports store— “Sports store!”
Miyuki stared at him blankly.
“We’re here for a break and you want to go to a sports store?”
Eijun nodded furiously. Now that the idea was there, he actually wanted to anyway, so he might as well drag his catcher with him.
“Fine,” Miyuki sighed. “But thirty minutes max, ok?”
An hour later they were still in the store. Eijun had picked out a new pair of batting gloves and moved on to the bats themselves. Miyuki simply followed him around, offering a sarcastic comment every now and then. Eijun ignored him in favour of settling into a batting stance with a bat identical to Onii-san’s. When he looked up, though, Miyuki was staring past him out the glass store doors.
“Sawamura…” he said. “We need to take cover!” His voice rose in a shout at the end, panic threading through it. Eijun spun to look behind himself just in time to see a car collide with the doors, the resulting explosion of flames, gas, and glass knocking him backwards into Miyuki and further into the store. Thankfully they didn’t hit anything, but as Eijun got up, it was to stare at the gaping, flaming hole where the store front used to be.
Outside, a huge, hulking beast with exposed brains lumbered down the street to toss the next car. Eijun gaped at it. He hadn’t seen one in person, but he recognized it from the news in May.
“Sawamura, you must be the unluckiest person alive,” Miyuki groaned from behind him, “if you’re attracting beasts who’re all supposed to be dead.”
For once, Eijun didn’t have the words to respond. Other people were taking their chances with the flames to get out of the store. Another beast—a noumu, he remembered, is what heroes had called them—joined the first, and the crowd scattered, screaming.
“We have to help…”
“We have to what? Bakamura, are you crazy? We’re not heroes! I don’t even—” Miyuki broke off to mutter a curse. “Sawamura, I don’t even have a quirk.”
“And? Who says you need a quirk to save people?”
Miyuki stared at him like his head had suddenly turned into a pumpkin. “The world, Sawamura! The world! You got shot a few weeks ago because no one could do anything until Endeavor arrived! Because I couldn’t—”
A nearby explosion cut off the next words. It was just as well; despite the frequent accusals of being an idiot, Eijun understood perfectly well what his catcher said. He understood it just as well as he knew Miyuki would never have said it if this hadn’t happened.
“Text the team,” he said instead. “You’re the captain, Cap. Check up on everyone. I’m sure by this point they at least know something is happening, but it would make you feel better, right?”
Miyuki barked a sharp laugh and shook his head. Running a hand through his hair, he pulled out his phone.
“You’re unbelievable, you know that, Sawamura?”
Eijun grinned so hard his cheeks hurt. It distracted him from the way his tail twinged, as if a bullet had pierced it a second time.
Thankfully, it only took a few minutes for Tetsu to text back: Heroes setting up safe area in bullet train stop. Jun’s volunteered himself as an announcement system, so you’ll know when you’re close.
Eijun took a deep breath and mentally did a body check. Tail and claws out. Ears pricked to catch the slightest noise.
A rattle next to him made him turn. Miyuki met his eyes evenly.
“Quirkless, remember?”
“It’s a good idea,” he replied, and plunged through the dying flames of the doorway onto the street.
Miyuki armed with a baseball bat: Check.
With all the chaos on the street, it didn’t take them long to run into trouble. Or rather, neither of them could just run away when they saw a noumu stalking towards Kanemaru, Toujou, Kawakami, Tanba, and Chris-senpai. Toujou had taken up a stance in front of the others, skin hardened to rock, but they had nowhere to go with the beast’s focus completely on them. On instinct, Eijun looked to Miyuki. His catcher looked back and, perfectly silent, flashed him two pitch signs. Splitter. Cutter.
“You’re lucky I know Furuya’s signs, Miyuki Kazuya,” Eijun muttered. He waited a moment to watch as his catcher ran towards the beast, shouting insults and waving his bat around. Then, he followed him in from a slightly different direction, as silent as a cat stalking a mouse.
Eijun managed to catch the noumu from the side, raking his claws down and as deep as he dared while knowing this used to be an actual person.
The beast howled in pain and spun to face him. Eijun stared up at the face from his crouched position. He just had to wait long enough for—Miyuki swung his bat into the back of the head, just before the neck became open brain. The noumu stumbled forward, face contorting from pain to anger.
“Let’s go let’s go let’s go!” Miyuki shouted, dropping the bat in order to grab Eijun’s arm with one hand and Kawakami’s with the other. Their other teammates quickly fell in behind them as they ran.
Any other night, they would be able to hear the slap of sneakers against the concrete. Now, though, Eijun listened as the roars of the beast following them blended with an explosion in the distance. He flinched, the noise reminding him of the gunshot that scarred his tail. Something tightened painfully around his bicep in response. A glance revealed Miyuki’s fingers, white-knuckled and dragging him forward. Always forward. Whenever Eijun took a step back, his catcher was there to pull him forward again. This was no different.
“Let’s go!” he shouted, echoing Miyuki’s encouragement from before.
“We’re already going, Bakamura!” Kanemaru panted. Despite his protest, Eijun watched as the third baseman pulled ahead of him.
Miyuki laughed and began the team’s usual running count. Behind them, Chris-senpai choked on his own laugh and Tanba groaned.
The count drowned everything out as Eijun focused on nothing else, until a new voice filtered through.
“—safe area! If you can hear me, you are approaching a safe area! Please continue to the bullet train station!” The voice was rough and had obviously been talking nonstop for awhile, but it was still recognisable.
“We’re close!” Eijun cheered. “I can hear Spitz-senpai!”
Of course it was at that moment that Kawakami let out a yelp. Miyuki’s hand, still wrapped around Eijun’s arm, yanked him around and dragged him backwards for a moment before the catcher let go. Eijun stumbled, but eventually found his balance and looked up. The noumu’s giant paw grasped Kawakami around the middle, holding him in midair. Miyuki dangled a foot in the air, stubbornly keeping his hold on Kawakami’s arm even while he cursed out the beast.
Eijun lunged forward, meaning to latch onto either of his teammates and pull them to safety, but Chris-senpai lunged into his path.
“You can’t!”
“But they—” Eijun protested, voice dying in his throat as the catcher shook his head.
“Do you think I didn’t already use my quirk to analyse him? He has no weaknesses that mere high schoolers can exploit. You, Kanemaru, and Toujou need to get to the safe zone and send heroes to help. Do you understand?”
Eijun looked over Chris-senpai’s shoulder. Tanba had latched onto Miyuki, giving their catcher an anchor and a brace. Kawakami’s eyes had gone wide with fear, but a rainstorm fell from his fingers onto his captor’s fingers and made the grip slippery. At the rate they were going, they might get Kawakami out safely. They might be able to escape the beast, and hopefully meet up with heroes to escort them to the safe zone. Might.
Eijun looked down at his claws. Everyone had said he had the power to get into UA if he wanted. He’d chosen baseball instead, but he guessed it was time to figure out if everyone had been right.
“No, Chris-senpai,” he said. He stared up at his idol, meeting his gaze. Unfaltering. “I’m not trapped in a bathroom, and my wound has healed. You can’t protect me forever.”
“Shit, Sawamura,” Kanemaru breathed. Eijun didn’t turn to took at him, eyes focused on his old catcher.
“Eijun,” Chris-senpai began, then faltered. He took a deep breath, released it, and let him go. “You’re right. As much as I hate to admit it, you have the best quirk for combat out of us. We need you here.”
“That’s great!” Miyuki called. “But I don’t know if you’ve noticed, this isn’t the time for a heartfelt discussion!”
Chris-senpai turned, and Eijun finally looked past him. While they’d been talking, Toujou had turned to stone and wrapped his arms around Tanba. The extra weight had deterred the noumu a little, but each move of his arm tugged Kawakami a little more out of Miyuki’s grasp. The fact the three anchors also had to dodge the other arm didn’t help. Judging by the torn clothing and blood welling up from Miyuki and Tanba’s torso and shoulder, they hadn’t managed to escape them all, either.
“The weakest point is the arm holding Kawakami,” Chris-senpai murmured. Eijun beamed up at him, and his old catcher smiled down at him. “If you manage to get that hand to open, we can make another run for the safe zone.”
Eijun dashed towards the noumu, tail streaming out behind him. The wind whistled in his ears, and he made out the familiar sound of Kanemaru running. Knowing Chris-senpai, he’d probably sent the other first year to get a hero. He didn’t dare check though.
Last time, he’d caught the beast unaware from the side. This time, he was charging him head on. It would be more difficult: like climbing a moving tree with only a few branches. Except—
“Sawamura!” Toujou called. “Use us!”
“W—what he said!” Tanba stammered.
Miyuki said nothing, but from him, that said it all. With his teammates help, it would be more like scaling a small hill.
Unable to help himself, Eijun let out a roar of delight, sheathed his claws, and leapt into the air. His legs—strengthened both by his quirk, which made his body suited for jumping, and by Kataoka-kantoku’s training—carried him all the way up into a crouch on Toujou’s shoulders, hands braced on Tanba’s bald head. He gave it a quick rub for luck.
“O—oi!” the older pitcher stammered, and Eijun laughed.
“Sorry, Tanba-san! I couldn’t resis—!”
“Bakamura, the arm’s coming around again!” Miyuki snapped.
“Right!” Eijun shouted, and leapt into the air once more.
This time his leap carried him over Tanba’s head and onto his catcher’s back, though not for long. He crouched low and, just as the noumu’s arm entered his periphery vision, jumped off his teammates and onto the arm holding Kawakami. The other pitcher stared at him, wide-eyed, and Eijun spared a second to shoot him a grin. Then he focused on scoring his claws down the flesh before him, digging in deep. Last time, he’d tried not to cause too much damage. Now he didn’t care. Sooner or later, he’d either tear a tendon or cause enough pain that the noumu let his teammates go. Until then, he’d just keep—
“Eijun, duck!” someone called, and he found himself flying.
As he rotated in midair, the night sky turned into faces gaping up at him. And not just any faces, he realised dimly. His teammates. The noumu must have knocked him off his perch with the other arm, but with so much force he flew up instead of down. Not that it mattered, he noted as the faces grew bigger. He’d hit the ground eventually.
“Sawamura!” someone called, and his shoulder wrenched as his hand caught on something. “Come on, Sawamura,” the person groaned. “I can’t haul you up myself, I’m not that strong! No matter what you first years think!”
“Hah?” Eijun muttered, blinking. The pain, while not enough to indicate a break or dislocation, had still been enough to bring tears to his eyes. “I think you pulled my muscle…”
“Seidou luck,” someone groaned.
The first voice snapped, “Quiet, Tanba! A medic can easily heal it, and it’s not like it’s his throwing arm anyway.”
“Sawamura!” someone else called from above. “Sheath your claws!”
Finally, Eijun looked up. The first thing he saw was Kawakami’s face, hanging over a fist and staring down at him. The second was Miyuki’s fist bleeding everywhere.
“Gah!” he exclaimed. “What happened to you!”
“Never mind me,” Miyuki sighed. “Now come on! Chris-senpai is providing a great distraction right now, but sooner or later the noumu is gonna swing for you again! Can you climb?”
Instead of answering, Eijun braced himself on Tanba, reached up to grab his catcher and haul himself up, and froze when he noticed his claws. They were still out from shredding the noumu’s arm, but that meant—
His eyes zeroed in on his other hand, still clenched in his catcher’s. All the blood was—
“Don’t mind me, Sawamura,” Miyuki gritted out. “Get up here and free Kawakami, ok? Then you can sheath your claws.”
All the blood was from his claws, currently embedded in his catcher’s fist.
“Eijun!” Chris-senpai called. “Whenever I can stop running around would be great!”
But for once, Miyuki was right. This wasn’t the time to worry about pain. Hadn’t he thought something similar himself, just moments before?
“Don’t worry, Chris-senpai!” he shouted, and hauled himself up onto Miyuki’s back. “Kawakami will be free soon!”
In the end, Chris-senpai still had to run around for awhile as a distraction so Eijun wouldn’t be hit off again, but between Eijun’s claws and Kawakami’s rain, the pitcher was soon free. Miyuki snatched them both up off the ground, both hands once again pulling his pitchers along, while Tanba, Toujou, and Chris dashed along behind them.
“Where,” Tanba panted, “are the heroes?”
“You don’t think…” Toujou trailed off, worry clear in his voice.
Eijun shook his head emphatically and called, “No way! Kanee is definitely—”
A tree root shot past them, quickly followed by the pro-hero Kamui Woods. Two other people, obviously heroes by their costumes, but less well-known, ran behind him. One kept going, but the other reversed direction to run with them.
“Are you the group from Seidou?” he asked. “With Miyuki?”
“Yes,” their captain nodded. “Kanemaru found you?”
“Yes. I’m going to escort you to him now, ok?”
If Miyuki replied, Eijun didn’t hear him, as the beat of their sneakers against the concrete and the sounds of battle erupting behind them overcame everything else.
They met up with Kanemaru again at the safe zone. He let out a shout as soon as he saw them and ran to meet them, skidding to a halt just in time to avoid crashing into Toujou.
Jun spared them a wave and a wide-eyed worried stare from nearby, but didn’t let up on his broadcasting duties. There was a table full of water bottles in front of him that hadn’t been touched, either. Tetsu was supposedly in camp, but apparently other business had pulled him away from Jun.
“Tetsu’s gonna kill him,” Miyuki remarked wryly, and Eijun nodded, stomach twisting. Normally, such a comment would have him stifling laughter. But right now, with the city burning around them and stinking of copper, he couldn’t find it in himself.
“Hey,” he started. “Let’s—”
Someone grabbed his wrist.
Eijun stiffened and tried to pull away, but the grip was too strong.
“Oi,” Miyuki and Kanemaru snapped. “Let him go!”
The grip released suddenly, and Eijun found himself stumbling back with the lack of resistance. Arms came up around him to catch him. The tangy sweet scent of fear largely covered up the person’s usual smell, but under it all was well-worn leather, dirt, and miso. Miyuki.
Eijun froze in his catcher’s arms, who quickly put him on his feet.
“Are you ok?” Tanba asked.
Eijun looked up and nodded. Toujou, Kanemaru, Kawakami, and Tanba were all staring at him worriedly. Miyuki had taken a small step to the side, putting distance between them—though not too far—and glaring at the hero who had grabbed his hand. Chris-senpai had turned the tables on him, and Eijun figured that it had been him grabbing the hero that had gotten himself released.
“What do you want?” Chris-senpai asked. The hero raised his free hand, palm out.
“I thought I saw blood, that’s all. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have startled you like that.”
“Oh,” Eijun said, looking down at his own hand in surprise. He had sheathed his claws, but the blood from both Miyuki and the noumu had caked itself onto his fingers like a melting popsicle. Jolting at the reminder, he whirled on his catcher. “Miyuki! You need to see a doctor!”
The tanuki sighed and rolled his eyes. “So do you, Bakamura.”
“And Tanba,” Chris interjected.
“The blood is yours?” the hero asked.
“I accidentally clawed him after I got the noumu,” Eijun explained. The hero froze, and the pitcher frowned. “Is something wrong?”
“You used your quirk to hurt someone?”
“The noumu had Kawakami, I wasn’t about to just let him go.”
The hero nodded, but his eyes darted to the side. “Let’s get you three to a healer, and we’ll talk after, ok?”
“Ok…” Eijun replied. He had the feeling it wasn’t that simple. It was the same one he had had when he was little, and his grandfather started explaining lion traditions to him. Like something wasn’t right.
It was only as they were following the hero that Kanemaru hissed, "Oi, Bakamura! Why'd you tell him that?!"
"Ha— oh," Eijun faltered, almost falling as he missed a step. Kawakami grabbed his arm, and he smiled up at him. "Thanks, senpai!"
"Kanemaru, what do you mean?" Miyuki interjected. Steering the team back on the base path, as usual. Though in this case—
"Why do I feel like I did something irreparably wrong?"
"One, thank you for listening when I teach you vocab," Kanemaru began. "And two, I wish you did the same for Japanese law!" Glaring at Miyuki, he added, "And that you paid attention in class. Honestly, do you two just have baseball between your ears?"
Eijun blinked, then jolted. "Ah! You mean—"
"Here we are," the hero—who had been walking a bit ahead of them—interrupted. "Rin-san, they have three injured in their party." The last bit was directed at a red-haired male sitting in a pile of medical supplies. He smiled up at them as the hero left, flashing a neat row of shark teeth.
"Hello! I'm afraid I don't have a healing quirk, but I am quite skilled in first aid. One of my best friends drilled a lot of sports medicine into me." He beamed up at them, and Eijun just about collapsed on the spot.
"Rin-san," Miyuki began, jolting Eijun out of the smile-induced haze, "If you're not a doctor, EMT, or hero, why are you here?"
"Ah," the smile faded. "There was someone else, but they were moved to a nearby building with the seriously injured. Since it's gonna be awhile before the heroes can send someone else, I volunteered to to do triage. And speaking of triage," he beamed up at them again. Eijun beamed back, unable to help himself. The smile was contagious. "Who's injured?"
"This idiot," Eijun and Miyuki both spoke at the same time and pointed at the other.
“And Tanba,” Kawakami added.
“I accidentally clawed my catcher,” Eijun moaned. “Help him first, please!” He gave a short bow, hoping that would reinforce his request.
Except then Miyuki snapped, “I told you I’m fine! Besides, a torn muscle is more serious.”
Something twisted in Eijun’s stomach—something different than when his catcher had joked about Tetsu and Jun. It was partly warm and kind of flappy, like when Miyuki complimented his pitching. But the majority of it felt ugly. Like he was staring down the barrel of a gun, Furuya’s flames flickering in his line of sight.
“The noumu tore into your muscles, for all you know!” Eijun exploded. He jabbed a finger into his catcher’s chest, ignoring the way his own shoulder muscles twinged.
“Aw,” Miyuki mocked. “Are you worried for my abs, Sawamura?”
If this had been a just world, Eijun would have born with a heat vision quirk. As it was, he had to settle for quietly fuming and lashing his tail.
“How about this?” Rin-san interrupted. Eijun blinked, and realized that at some point the man had maneuvered himself in—between himself and Miyuki Kazuya. “Sawamura, was it? I’m afraid I can’t do much for a torn muscle, but please take one of the ice packs over there, wrap it in a towel, and apply it. I believe I also saw a shoulder brace you can put on to rest it until someone comes to heal it. As for you two,” he smiled at Miyuki and Tanba, and Eijun shivered. It didn’t seem as nice as before—almost threatening. “Please take off your shirts so I can properly assess and treat your injuries. We need to stop the bleeding, so I’ll be helping you both at the same time. Is that ok?”
“Yes sir,” Tanba muttered, and Miyuki nodded. Eijun plopped down by the ice packs.
“Who are you?” Kanemaru asked, awe clear in his voice. “Please teach me your ways, sensei!”
Rin-san laughed even as he sat down again and focused on gathering his supplies.
“I was the captain of my high school swim team, so I’m more than used to wrangling teenagers. And the shark quirk helps.” He flashed another smile, showing off his teeth. “But let’s focus on all of you, shall we?”
After they were all treated, they waved goodbye to Rin-san and left in search of Jun. He was right where they had left him—except this time, there was an empty water bottle and an angry Tetsu in front of him. Jun waved at them weakly, and their old captain marched over to them to talk.
“According to the guy in charge, the heroes are almost done wrangling up the noumus. He refused to say more, so I believe it is confidential. Though he did say he wanted to talk to you, Sawamura?”
At the questioning look from Tetsu, Eijun laughed weakly and rubbed the back of his head.
“Ahahaha, well, you see, we all may have forgotten about the whole quirk restriction business, and I may have seriously injured one of the noumus with my claws… completely unfair business, really, Miyuki Kazuya hit him with a baseball bat but he’s not going to get in trouble, is he?”
“I might have, but I wasn’t stupid enough to tell someone I did it, Bakamura,” Miyuki rolled his eyes.
Eijun’s cheeks burned.
“It’s not like any of you stopped me! Only Kanee said something, and that was after I’d already said it!”
“Someone’s coming this way,” Chris-senpai interjected. “He looks important.”
Tetsu turned to look and nodded. “That’s the guy in charge.”
They all watched as the hero stopped by Jun, who went quiet to listen. When he was finished, Jun slumped back in his chair, grabbed a water bottle, and started taking small sips. Then, the hero turned towards them.
“Which one of you is Sawamura Eijun?” he asked.
Eijun took a deep breath, straightened his shoulders, and gave a short bow. “I am, sir!”
The hero studied him for a moment, then nodded. “Considering the extenuating circumstances, and the fact that you aren’t a hero in training, we have decided to let you go with a warning. Don’t let it happen again, ok?”
“Yes, sir! Thank you, sir!”
“Do you all have a way home?”
Eijun faltered and turned to his captains. Tetsu and Miyuki exchanged a glance, and the former captain gestured the new one forward.
“No, sir. Three of us need to go to the hospital for healing anyway. But, we came to Tokyo as a much larger group. Is there anyway you can reunite us, sir?”
Eijun’s mouth dropped open. “You do know how to be polite, Miyuki Kazuya!” he exclaimed.
That provoked a hiss and slit eyes, and Eijun laughed. Teasing his catcher was familiar and, in a way, calming.
The hero glanced between the two of them, but apparently deciding to ignore the exchange, asked, “Do you know where they are?”
“Yes, sir. I’ve been in contact with them, and thankfully everyone has checked in. No one else was injured, but I would sincerely appreciate it if we could all go to the hospital as a group, sir.”
The hero nodded, looking thoughtful. “Well… let me see what I can do, ok?”
In the end, it took ten minutes of being at the hospital for them all to be healed. They’d have to take it easy for a few days, so that they didn’t undo the healer’s work, but compared to how long it would take without the quirk, that was nothing.
The hero in charge—Firebolt, he said his name was—came through as well. The rest of their teammates were picked up from safe zones all over Tokyo and delivered to the hospital. Suddenly, Eijun found himself, Miyuki, and Tanba surrounded.
“I can’t believe you let Sawamura get hurt,” Kuramochi complained to their captain.
Miyuki snorted. “I didn’t let Sawamura do anything. He gets injured all on his idiot lonesome.”
“You’re sure you’re fine, Eijun-kun?” Harucchi asked. He was bent close to Eijun’s shoulder, expecting the now non-existent swelling. Furuya stood next to both of them, feet apart and braced as a solid wall between the crowd and them.
“I’m fine,” he reassured them, grinning. “Rin-san took good care of me before we got here!”
“Rin-san?” Kuramochi asked, wiggling his eyebrows at Miyuki.
Eijun frowned, confused, but his catcher only snorted again. “Some guy with a shark quirk who was doing triage at the safe zone. Anyways, you should all be congratulating Bakamura on not getting arrested.”
“Arrested?” Onii-san asked. For once, he opened his eyes to stare at Eijun. He thought his pride member actually looked impressed. “What did you do, Sawamura?”
“He broke quirk regulations and got off with a warning, but that’s it, Ryou,” Chris-senpai laughed.
“Hmmm,” Onii-san hummed.
“Aniki,” Harucchi reproached.
Onii-san just closed his eyes again and chuckled.
Kataoka-kontoku and Takashima-sensei picked everyone up in one of Seidou’s buses, but it moved slowly through detours, safety checks, and the regular Tokyo traffic. It didn’t take long for everyone but Eijun and his coaches to fall asleep, the sound of snoring filling the bus. Eijun, though, sat quietly and wide awake in the middle of the backseat, sandwiched between Miyuki and Kuramochi.
His catcher had started the ride stubbornly sitting up, arms crossed, but at one point, his entire body had relaxed into sleep and slid down, head falling to the side. Eijun could feel the band of his glasses digging into his shoulder, and Miyuki’s knee heated his own where they pressed together.
On his other side, Kuramochi snored up a storm, and drool slipped down to pool on onii-san’s shoulder, where the cheetah’s head rested. Onii-san’s own head lay on Kuramochi’s. He had trusted Harucchi into Furuya’s care for the ride, and the two of them rested physically apart, but comfortable together, in the pair of seats before onii-san.
In front of them, Toujou had barricaded Kanee against the window and turned to stone. Not that Toujou was the only one being overprotective. Shirasu, upon finding out what Kawakami had gone through, mothered his friend into the seat two rows before the back. Chris-senpai, after checking with Eijun that he was fine with Miyuki and Kuramochi, had ushered Tanba into the row behind Kawakami and followed him in.
Tetsu, Jun, Kataoka-kontoku, and Takashima-sensei took the first four seats. Everyone else sat scattered in the other seats, pressed together and apart, drooling and snoring and sleeping.
The bus was loud and stank of dirty teenagers, and that had been enough to keep Eijun awake. But now… the cat yawned and allowed his tail to relax a little from where he had curled it tightly around his own waist. He pressed his ear into Miyuki’s hair, and the noise dimmed. It was a good angle for his neck, and the heat of being pressed between two bodies made him close his eyes. Just… for a minute… just…
When I first started writing this, my only thought was ‘what BNHA event can I plop Eijun and Seidou into,’ not ‘what BNHA event after September can I plop Eijun and Seidou into’. As a result, I wrote the first almost 5k with the event being the Hosu Incident. Which, y’know. Takes place in May. Which technically could have worked, but I have everyone working through emotional wounds less than a month old, and I didn’t want to change that. So instead, I’ve created an entirely new incident that’s similar to the Hosu one, but takes place months later, in order to keep both my own timeline, the DNA timeline, and the BNHA timeline intact.
Also, for some reason, all my long fics in this verse end with all of Seidou sleeping in a relative vicinity to one another. Oh well. No regrets on my end.
I hope you all enjoyed, and please let me know what you think!
