AHH thank you so much!!! it’s going to be called If You’ll Have Me, and it’s currently slated for fall 2023! we originally planned for a spring release but had to push things back because of industry-wide supply chain issues, printing delays, etc... for a more in-depth explanation i found this twitter thread very helpful!

general life update

i wanted to make this post three months ago but in a tragic turn of events, the one day i set aside to accomplish some personal tasks made a terrible mess of my plans 😔 the deadline i mentioned back then was for inks, so i’ve since moved on to color! i’ve been working in the morning, then coloring in the evening and through the night. it’s pretty grueling, but i’m trying to be good about stretching and resting because if my body disintegrates i can’t draw more gay shit and what then?

i feel like i’m doing okay, all things considered! i’m just tired mostly. god, i’m so tired...

this book has been my life for all of 2022 which is why i don’t have much else to talk about 😂 i have a big deadline coming up so i’m really hustling right now. i actually have to deal with packing and moving as soon as i’m done, so i’m not sure when i’ll pop up again! maybe late september, maybe october... we’ll have to see!

Ahh, thank you so much!! When I first started this series, I had no idea just how much these relationships between Tokoyami and the villains would develop. It ended up being something special, and I love the way they work together and engage with one another. In truth, the mentor/apprentice relations with him and Dabi were there from the beginning, and its felt like the ultimate slow burn to build on these layers of trust and mutual admiration. I'm really fond of what I've made, and I'm so glad I get to share it with others who would also want to enjoy this kind of content! Making Tokoyami into something of my own has also been great, like by giving him new design elements that have greater significance. Like, giving him the scarf was something I'd been wanting to do for a very long time.

Currently within the story, we're actually pretty close to seeing Mr. Compress again. I have a soft spot for all the old League members, so of course I intend to continue revisiting them at various points in the story.

replicating a style

i feel the need to first point out that no one should do this to quote unquote steal someone's artstyle. being able to emulate a specific style is a good trick to learn for jobs in which you have to do just that (animation, comics etc.) i personally love being as canon compliant when it comes to fanart so i go crazy:

studying the source material! in general with drawing, you think you know what something looks like but when you draw it out, it may look weird and off!! this is when you're gonna want to hoard a lot of screenshots from the source material to study/draw over/redraw based on them. as you're drawing, you may realize that "WOW okay so i didn't know that part was so angled and sharp, i thought it was a near perfect circle!" (me when i first drew mikey's head fr).

repetition!! don't avoid drawing simply because you're thinking you're not good enough yet. art is something you get good at with trial and error so you'll only ever get better if you draw, draw and draw!!!! not only do you learn more with each drawing, you'll also get more comfortable with the overall process :)

(gonna throw in a mystery number three which is not really tied to replicating styles BUT!!! doing anatomy studies is a good way to improve your solid drawing skills fast!!! im linking my pinterest folder that i use for anatomy studies every now and then below the line to help anyone get started!)

animation tips

i'm like, 90% self-taught so i may not know the correct terminology for everything... but you're definitely going to want to study the 12 principles of animation!! there are a LOT of youtube videos available on this particular subject!! once you have gone through each principle, you may want to try and do little animation practices with these in mind!

i think ROTTMNT really kickstarted my personal learning curve as i'm just SO ridiculously eager to learn anything and everything i possibly can, i mean i have never in my life been so excited to just learn! i heavily recommend following the rottmnt animators' online profiles and go through their galleries/portfolios to study their work! it's all so amazing...

tldr, STUDY the source material and REPEATEDLY draw/animate and take active notes on what you could improve on, still. you got this!!! >:]

some links that other people have kindly compiled with lotsa references/tutorials and tips. i recommend eyeballing through them and checking out anything that interests you! :]

I couldn't give less of a FUCK that this isn't technically finished. It is finished, to ME. The character-building in this story is just rich and fleshy and the stuff of true finesse. Ortho Called The Reader 'Big Brother'

Several weeks have passed since Ortho became an official student of the school. In this way, most of your lessons became common. After the game night after Idia's overblot, you now have a game night with the brothers for 2 nights every week.

Ortho was being bothered by some morons because he was a humanoid robot / i.e. not a real human. Idia, you and the other fist years are dealing with those morons. Sometimes Ortho seems upset about this situation, but it is always you and Idia who lifts his spirits. Others don't know how to cheer up a humanoid robot.

One day, Crewel-Sensei's lesson was your common lesson. Luckily, sensei made you two a duo partner.

While you both prepare the potion Sensei wants, you hear the people in the side cauldron talking.

Ugh that stupid robot is in our class again.

Sensei had been praising him recently. Big Seven, what kind of robot needs praise?

If the liquids in those potion bottles spilled on him, he'd be scrap.

Agh, does not he give very knowledgeable answers to every question asked. Even his voice and way of speaking are like people's, why do they treat him like a human being??

Those bastards..you're back in Ortho. He didn't seem like he was concentrating on his work. He had heard what was them said. You could understand that. You wanted to give those guys their place, but you'd be in trouble if you made a scene in class. You have to wait until the end of the lesson, but unfortunately there is still 23 minutes until the end of the lesson. I guess there is only one option left.

Ortho, we are in the last class and I think the class has not been ventilated in between. Would you open the window?

Of course [Name]-san.

Ortho opened the window and light breezes blew in. You took this opportunity, picked up a powder on the shelf and sprayed the powder in the wind, in a way that would not be visible to anyone. The dust flew in the direction of those children. Only a few seconds passed and

Agh Where did this itch come from?

They started scratching themselves like dogs with fleas. Sensei was yelling about what they were doing. Sensei realized that it was an itch powder, and the ointment for itch powder was in the cupboard right behind you.

Pup, give that yellow jar to those naughty pups.

Of course Sensei.

As you approach them, you sneak another bottle, and as you hand them your jar, you add the foreign substance to their cauldron.

Towards the end of the lesson, an explosion is heard. Those naughty boys dipped the potion. What a great inconsistency.

There are SO many massively talented writers out there, many of which are still on my ever-growing to-read list. I wanna send some love to @littlejuicebox's multichapter fic, Midwinter Carol, which I'm about halfway through and absolutely loving so far!

It has: Ascended Astarion! Pining for someone who's right in front of you! Divorced yearning! Beautiful, poetic prose! Just absolutely *chef's kiss* Astarion characterization! Such a compelling protagonist in Eirianwen. Girl has got backbone and I'm excited to get to know her more and see how she complements and challenges our boy. And just a the perfect balance of angst and flirty hopefulness.

Hmm, I think I maybe talked about this on Twitter once, but not here. Well, I'm now pretty firmly in the agnostic (if not atheist) camp, but my parents pushed me to get confirmed as a kid (we were Lutheran). And I went to a church where, part of the youth group program was performing a traveling mime show of the passion story. Like, full on face-paint, black turtlenecks, miming Jesus getting crucified. There was a super eerie soundtrack and narration that went with it. Lots of drama over whether any of the girls could try-out for the Jesus role. Whipping sound effects. Absolutely no disrespect to anyone finding religious insight through art and whatnot. It just feels a little weird and uncomfy to me personally in retrospect. But then, religion really isn't for me. Most of the other confirmation programs I heard about my classmates doing had like, community service projects instead.

-Kenta Au once more! (Well laxo and Kenta kinda I guess) but here she is once more! Drew Fanart of her once more!

yes I added a jack stauber Song quote from buttercup cuz..she has buttercups in her hair, but also I can kinda see the song matching a little with her? Maybe I’m wrong or so but AHH MADE MORE FANART FOR KENTA! (well for the what if Au Kenta not sure how or what I should name this Au!, I decided to make a bit of a change in the Au of her hair fur? Getting more longer, so she can put more buttercups in her hair fur without them falling out when she wants! (Wanted to make her design a little different from cannon to kinda make them look different due to the changes that would happen in the first volume-)

Now onto the bit of lore I guess? For the Au! Or well the idea of what I want to do?

AU KENTA IN ASKON

Kenta is less tired, and more brightful in this Au, since she’s kinda free from the dark realm and being a trainee, she kinda socials more!

But she kinda keeps to herself at the same time, though I’d feel like she would still have a bit of fear since the day she saw her brother’s eye get ripped out by her dad..she sometimes can’t sleep at night because of the memory. Sometimes she feels like she could’ve done more, but in no way does laxo want her to feel that way, which is obvious, none of it was her fault, but everyone has doubts, and she can’t help but doubt it, even though what laxo tells her is true.

She really does her best to be there for Laxo, she knows life has been…something for the both of them, so now knowing they are…at least free from that for the moment, she wants to try and be strong for Laxo, to support him mentally, protect him like how he has protected her in their life. She’s a bit..tired like her original self, but tries her best to be mentally strong- (which sometimes overwhelms her.)

Now in no way does she think Laxo can’t be strong himself and protect himself or thinks he’s someone who needs to be protected at all times and not fight his battles…she just wants to make sure he has a shoulder to be there for him…

she’s glad he knows Kane, but…she’s scared at times, what if Kane is like….Aiden?..what if disaster falls again, what if something happens to her and laxo again?

She tries not to let the thoughts fill her mind, things are okay, and they will be..is what she keeps telling herself.

Now with Kenta here, laxo sort of pushes her away, but in no way where she feels like she’s alone or anything, just he keeps how he feels sometimes bottled up just like cannon, he does talk with her and all that more than with Kane, but he tries to keep to himself still with what he deals with, for her safety and not wanting over worry her, stress her with his own issues.

And…Im sure Au Kenta’s emotional state would definitely crack during the banishment part of Laxo’s story in this Au, after everything, now she lost the only person she feels like she can trust and go to, she would feel lost…

and especially confused if she was there when laxo was getting banished/sent to the dark realm.(An idea for her in this Au, To the first volume to the third, her flowers in her hair would start to die, but won’t fall out, with Kenta still having that hope to be strong despite everything going on)

. . . AHH OKAY, hopefully everything seems realistic to the characters, and hopefully I didn’t phrase anything wrong! These are just one idea/more info I had, I guess for the what if Au! (Not sure if should give it a name…) these characters don’t belong to me and are belonged to @gloomforrestrunes ! Go check out their comic runes! 0:✨
