KONOHA ELEVEN IN A ZOOM CLASS!

FEATURING: naruto, sakura, shikamaru, ino, choji, hinata, kiba, shino, neji, rock lee, and tenten

WARNINGS: mentions of food

NARUTO

definitely has forgotten that he was unmuted multiple times

or his camera was accidentally turned on

you could just see him sprawled on his bed with a bowl of instant ramen on his lap and a blanket wrapped around himself

EARRAPE SLURPS!! rip headphone users.

sometimes he notices that his camera’s turned on and you can see him freak out and scramble to turn it off

but he accidentally unmutes himself too and so you just hear panicked yelling

his device topples to the floor with a loud crash and he screams so loud istg

the next thing you see is naruto’s face hovering over the camera in fear just before his camera turns off and he’s muted again

the teacher is so confused?? naruto should i call an ambulance

but when he’s not eating in class, he’s sleeping in class

too busy sleeping to leave the zoom at the end of class so he’s always the last one left in the meeting besides the teacher

always asks sakura what happened during the zoom and she is FED UP

SAKURA

enters the waiting room 15 minutes before class is actually supposed to begin

spends the next 15 minutes rearranging her work area, making sure she’s prepared for the day

sits properly at her desk with her hair smoothed down and her face positioned perfectly in frame

if no one else has their camera on, she’s the only one with it on

seriously, she ALWAYS HAS IT ON

and she never leaves the screen somehow

diligently takes notes, uses the “raise hand” feature every two minutes to ask a question

sometimes it can get a bit annoying, even for the teacher

but she almost always gets perfect marks

SHIKAMARU

this man can barely stay awake during missions, so during a zoom? HECK NAH

shikamaru is literally me,, half asleep during lessons but somehow gets amazing grades

everyone’s either pissed at or envious of him (especially naruto)

obviously does not have his camera on

and rarely ever unmutes

uses the chat feature to answer the teacher’s questions but this man is basically asleep so its so incoherent

even though kiba’s muted, you can see him and akamaru bickering about who knows what

or even play fighting,, these two get into full on BRAWLS during class

just imagine akamaru shoves kiba into his desk and his camera crashes to the ground overturned so you see the ceiling and the occasional dog tail wagging in the corner

seriously, can the teacher ever catch a break with this class?

thinks her and neji are the only sane ones in the class and it’s true

wants to tell sakura and ino to stop competing and just focus on learning, since they’re the only other girls in the class besides hinata

plus she’s just fed up with all the lazy boys

takes great pride in passing every assignment, test, or exam with flying colors

teachers pet, but the quieter type who stays after every zoom and sends lots of emails regarding assignments and grades and whatnot (unlike sakura and ino who rub it in the teacher’s face)

doesn’t like helping other people besides neji, girl’s got a soft spot for him since they have a mutual respect for each other

but if you’re a handsome prince, maybe she’ll help you out!

hello! It is time for more Boruto AU, with Sasuke this time! @ghostjellyfishheart was excited for this, so enjoy lmao. I apologize in advance for this. Just. Disregard the choppy transitions. Tune in next whenever for Boruto being incredibly confused by Sasuke and trying to figure out how to adjust to living in his house. It’s incredibly awkward. Can’t wait.

(TW and CW for: unconsciousness, coma, critical injuries, tired Sasuke Uchiha, angry Boruto, probably ooc Kakashi and like six other ooc people, death, parental death, possible parental death, cursing, the Uchiha Massacre, one night stands, Sasuke is trying very hard okay he’s doing his best, both of them are good dads because I wanted them to be okay?)

Sasuke Uchiha was angry. No, scratch that, he wasn't angry, he was pissed. He was furious. He was beyond angry, he had reached the peak of anger and transcended to another plane, and that was something he didn't even think possible. For starters, it's not like his day was going well to begin with. Kakashi had stuck him with way too much to do, endless goddamn paper work. Apparently sharingan was mostly for battle, because it really didn't do shit when it came to focusing. And it's not like his paperwork wasn't important, it was. He had to review a series of reports from high profile shinobi on their teams and the work of their teammates, so and so and so and so, it was always something.

In all honesty, he had signed up for this. Well, okay, he didn't sign up for it, but he agreed to it. After Naruto’s disappearance Sasuke was just about ready to throw himself into as many dangerous situations as far from Konoha as possible, but no. He didn't know whose idea it was, maybe Tsunade’s, maybe Sakura’s, maybe Kakashi came up with it all on his own, whatever. Now he was working as Kakashi’s right hand man (and shadow in a lot of ways) and, in his own word’s, the Hokage’s “Don't Be Stupid And Callous And Hurt People For The Greater Good Because It Really Didn't Go Well Last Time” reminder. He really was doing good work, he caught multiple oversights and made sure to hold Kakashi to his word about the decline of execution, especially for missing-nin. He nearly punched Ibiki in the nose about sixteen times for being ridiculous, but what the hell did he expect? Changing things on a fundamental level and rebuilding at the same time were hard, it was pretty tempting to fall back on old methods. It was largely Sasuke’s job to prevent that from happening, and he was really good at doing it without murdering anyone, surprisingly (though he came close a couple of times.) The destruction of the Foundation was extensive and incredibly difficult, and it was surprising to pretty much everybody except for Sasuke just how deeply corrupted the village was. They were also changing up Anbu, though that was still an ongoing process. Sai helped quite a bit in the destruction of the Foundation, and helped develop some sort of rehabilitation for people indoctrinated into it like him. He was very passionate about it, something that Sasuke totally understood. It was personal.

All things considered, there were two reasons that Sasuke didn't cut and run as soon as Naruto wasn't around to keep him anchored any more. The opportunity for bettering Konoha and the shinobi world as a whole and… well… Sarada. Sasuke and Sakura had Sarada around the same time that Naruto had Boruto with Hinata (say that ten times fast) albeit in a less… graceful manner. Naruto and Hinata had a child after getting married due to mutual affection, and Sasuke and Sakura had a child because of… well, a one night stand.

In hindsight, though it hadn't worked out with Sakura, he was grateful to have Sarada. She was a sort of anchor that kept him from running yet again, especially seeing as Sakura was busy running the hospital/teaching the next generation of medical nin/finding new techniques for medical advancement and health/going on a mission every once in a while. She was also, you know, his daugther, and he loved her. Sakura’s parents had a fit when they found out, and they had an even bigger fit when they realized that the two of them weren't getting married any time soon. If Sakura had decided that a marriage was best, Sasuke likely would have gone along with that. What else was he supposed to do? It wouldn't be fair to her, especially in the eyes of traditional families and clans. Sakura, of course, was having none of that, and Sasuke was incredibly relieved. Sasuke had raised his daughter for the most part, and he loved her more than anything, but it was clear to anyone with eyes that Sasuke Uchiha wasn't necessarily the image of “perfect father.” At first, he thought of Sarada as an ambiguously important responsibility, as cold as that sounded. But then she was born, and she had legs and arms and a brain and feelings, so of course he became attached. Actually, she was sixteen at that point, and she had become an excellent kunoichi. In fact, she was taking the jounin exams soon, which Ashina might be too if Naruto had stayed. Speaking of Naruto…

Sasuke had no idea why he was surprised. It seemed that no matter where Naruto was or how many years it had been since they'd seen each other, he would always, always be a pain in the ass. That would never change. Of course Naruto would show up with his children in the Forest of Death. Of course he would do it while Sasuke was swamped with work and trying to help his daughter prepare for the exams. Of course, of course, of course. Not that he was complaining (he was), at least not in the long run. It was better that Naruto come back eventually, but twelve entire years? That was a long time. A very long time, with no explanation. Just to show how thoroughly Sasuke was swamped, he heard the news in the middle of an incredibly important meeting with the daimyo and Kakashi. That didn't stop him from rushing to the hospital anyway, but it was inconvenient. Whatever, Kakashi (the damn slacker) would probably survive without him. Ino arrived distressed and covered in blood, only to deliver the message of a lifetime. Kakashi pretended not to care, especially since he was in the middle of a meeting and Naruto was technically a missing-nin. But he did care, obviously, he was just very good at compartmentalizing. Sasuke was too, but Naruto and Sarada seemed to be the only exceptions to this rule. So, he took off without explanation and rushed like hell to the hospital, because Ino said that Naruto had been in critical condition. The idiot always managed to get hurt somehow, but if he died before Sasuke got to chew him out for vanishing, he would resurrect the bastard so he could pound him into the dirt. Or hug him and never let go. It was a toss up, either one. Sasuke’s chakra was flashing dangerously, and it made everyone around him nervous, but at this point he could care less. The Uchiha opened the doors to the hospital and rushed to the front desk, but he was intercepted by an exhausted looking Ino.

“Where is he?” Sasuke blurted, and she glared at him momentarily.

“I'll tell you where, but it's not that simple Sasuke, you can't just rush in there-”

“Tell me where he is,” Sasuke growled.

“Sasuke-”

“Ino why can't you just-”

“Sasuke Uchiha!” she shouted in a way that sounded suspiciously like the few memories he had of his mother. He blinked. “Would you listen to someone for once in your entire goddamn life? God, you're just as frustrating as Sakura said you were. Naruto is stable for now, but he’s in comatose. Hopefully he’ll survive. But his kids are sitting in the room with him, and if you storm in there all furious, you'll scare the shit out of them. If you have to go in there, do it slowly and calmly. And Shikamaru says they go by Boruto and Himawari, not Ashina and Natsu. They must have changed their names at some point. Either way, you need to calm down.” Sasuke paused, because (damn her) Ino was right. He had to calm down. He was pretty threatening on his own, but to these kids, who were already worried about their father? He collected himself briefly as Ino sighed. “He’s asleep in room 306. Please be careful.”

“Thanks, Ino,” he managed before practically launching himself past her. Just before he turned down the hall, he paused. “And Ino,” he called over his shoulder. “If Neji comes by… tell him to go to hell.” With that he was off. The room wasn't hard to find, and he threw the door open. It was a private room, no other beds except the one where Naruto lay. He sucked in a breath when he saw him, because it had been so long and frankly the man looked terrible. His breathing was shallow and he was way too pale, but he was alive. God, he was alive, at least he was alive. Sasuke could hardly believe it. Naruto was alive, and he was here. He was so caught up in his own head that he didn't notice the two children sitting by the door until he turned around to face them. He froze in place as an awkward silence settled, and the first thing he could think was oh my god, he looks just like him. Ashina- no, Boruto, looked just like Naruto used to, he was nearly identical except for Boruto’s eyes being a slightly lighter shade of blue. There was a girl sitting next to him that looked alarmingly like Hinata, and she was watching him with more curiosity than defensive aggression like her brother.

“And who the hell are you?” Boruto demanded. Sasuke blinked.

“I um. I am an old friend of Naruto’s. I- I had to see him. My name’s Sasuke Uchiha.”

“Boruto- Boruto Namikaze,” the kid explained begrudgingly. Sasuke sat down in one of the chairs against the wall, a few away from Boruto and Himawari so that Boruto could watch him from a safe distance. He’d picked up a thing or two about skittish children in his time, and he figured the best course of action was to remain passive until Boruto let down his guard. Like an unruly cat that hisses whenever you get too close to it.

“What… what happened?” Sasuke asked, trying to start a conversation in a totally subtle way. Boruto winced and hesitated, almost looking… guilty.

“We got ambushed. That's all. He tried to keep us safe and it didn't… It's complicated.”

“Ah,” Sasuke muttered. “Right. Naruto is my friend, I've known him since we were kids. He’s always one for reckless endeavors.”

“Sometimes,” Boruto conceded. “I guess. He’ll… he’ll be okay. He has to be.”

“He will,” Sasuke assured him before he could stop himself. “He’s strong. Sakura Haruno is one of our top medical nin, she's not here right now, but she should be back from her mission soon, and she especially will be when she knows that Naruto is here. He's very important to us.” Boruto glanced over at him, tearing his eyes from his father.

“How did you know him?” he asked tentatively. Sasuke smiled without realizing it.

“He's my best friend. We went to the academy together, we fought in the Fourth Shinobi War. He was always there. He’s important to all of us, before he… before he left.” Boruto looked away nervously.

“Right,” he muttered. “Of course, that makes… that makes so much sense. I mean, I always wondered how he learned ninjutsu, I guess- I guess it makes sense for him to be from a Hidden Village. I just never…” Sasuke stared at him for a moment.

“He never told you?” Boruto shook his head and traded a glance with Himawari.

“No. He never talked about anything from before we were born. I never asked because it just… made him sad, I guess. I didn't like making him think about it.” Sasuke nodded numbly. Did he regret it, he wondered silently. Did he regret leaving? Did he ever think about coming back? The door opened just then and Boruto tensed again, whipping his head to the door. Kakashi stood in the doorway with Sai behind him.

“Hello. It seems Sasuke made it here first.” Boruto eyed him warily, moving closer to his sister. Kakashi took one look at the bed and then looked away, trying to not think about it for the time being. He turned his attention to Boruto instead.

“Well Boruto Namikaze, it looks like we have a lot to talk about. But it's been a long day for you two, and I think we’d best keep the hard conversations for tomorrow, hm?” Boruto must have read that as a threat because he bristled at the words, and Sasuke silently wondered how, despite years and years and years of experience, Kakashi never got any better at learning how to speak to children. Sai watched pensively, like an owl, tilting his head. Sasuke could understand Boruto’s nerves, especially considering the company he was in. Sasuke silently cursed Sakura for leaving at the worst time possible, but he knew it wasn't her fault.

“You should try and get some sleep tonight, we’ll probably have more information on Naruto’s condition in the morning. Don't worry, Sasuke’s house is comfortable.” Sasuke shot to his feet.

“What?” he demanded. Kakashi looked at him lazily.

“Oh yeah, sorry about that. I think it'd be best for the two of them to stay with you for the time being. You have a child of your own, and lord knows I wouldn't trust anybody else to do it. Sorry Sasuke, I promise i'll pay you overtime. I can have somebody else handle your paperwork for a few weeks.” Sasuke blinked as the children looked between the man and his teacher. Finally, the Uchiha gritted his teeth.

“Of course, Hokage-sama,” he growled. “It would be an honor.” Kakashi nodded.

“See? It's not that complicated. I have business to attend to, I'll have a conversation with you tomorrow, Sasuke.” With that he was gone, and Sasuke found himself alone with two children. Two. he had his hands full with one, and now he would have to take care of three. And they were Naruto’s children, lord only knows what they would get up to.

“Um,” Sasuke started. “I… I suppose… we should go… home.” Boruto hesitated before standing, tossing one glance over his shoulder at his father before walking out the door. Please wake up soon, Naruto Sasuke thought silently. But there were a few things Sasuke didn't realize at the time, and wouldn't for weeks. Naruto wouldn't be waking up, at least, not at first.

I 100% agree with this. I’m not sure if he’s a virgin, but for the sake of writing the smut people ask for, I feel he’d be... someone who enjoys sex as an outlet for stress (and sometimes anger). But it’s literally one of the last things on his mind. When he’s in the moment, sure, he’s focused on it. But he’s not constantly thinking about sex, or seeking sex, or anything similair to that

Not really! I mean, we see so little of them that most of the way I see/write them is really just me digging deeper to see what fits. Sometimes I’ll rewatch a scene from the show and think of something new, but otherwise, most of the characterization really just stems from the little bits we see of them. I take it and run with it lol

** That this fic is abandoned is an absolute tragedy, but it doesn’t stop me from rereading it endlessly.

House of Crows || Naruto || 400,508 words || Complete KakaSaku. War is coming to Konoha and Sakura is far from home, uncertain of her future. But one thing is for sure, Sakura will protect her unborn child at all costs, whether it be from Konoha's enemies... or from its own father.

** This fic is so powerful it sent me into actual depression for like 2 weeks lmao

Pulling My Weight || Naruto || 375,630 words || Ongoing During the mission to Wave, Sakura realises that she has to become a better ninja for her teammates' sake and be someone they can depend on. She vows to take her training seriously, and receives help from the most unlikely of sources; Genma Shiranui. The two form an unlikely bond and stick together through thick and thin, while Sakura improves and meets other people along the way.

** So, so entertaining, but above all so satisfying. I must’ve reread this one 4 or 5 times while waiting for updates.

Will of Fire || Naruto || 223,234 words || Complete Forced to flee their village and the new regime, the loyal shinobi of Konoha must find a way to preserve their way of life and take back their home. As they fight for their future, Team Seven struggles to overcome the past. KakaSaku

Once More, With Feeling || Naruto || 127,462 words || Complete Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.

** I read this one a very long time ago but it resonated so deeply (despite being in first person)

Stripped Bare || Naruto || 295,128 words || Complete When Sakura wanted a change of pace, she hadn't expected THIS! Now she's on a mission with Kakashi, masquerading as a dancer at a club far away from home and she finds herself forced to explore her own powers of sexuality and seduction. KakaSaku LEMON

** so IMPACTFUL. This is not a light read by any measure.

Double Edged || Naruto || 347,047 words || Complete Seduction is like a double edged sword. You never know when you'll go from being the seducer to being the seduced. KakaSaku

The Window || Naruto || 165,171 words || Complete Kakasaku Sakura always wanted to see Kakashi unmasked. This was a bit much though...

to memory now I can’t recall || MCU || 102,600 words || Complete While on a mission storming a HYDRA facility, James Buchanan Barnes touches one of the many strange alien devices collected by the Red Skull. He does this, in fact, twice— in the past, and in the future.

Next thing he knows, Bucky Barnes is opening his eyes in the 21st century, which is full of great gadgets and coffee, and at least includes his old pal Steve. (And, inexplicably, a different Stark.) Meanwhile, the Winter Soldier finds himself in the middle of World War Two, helping Captain America hunt down HYDRA (which is at least familiar), pretending to be Bucky Barnes (which is not), and figuring out the very noisy group of soldiers who call themselves the Howling Commandos.

** GOOD SHIT, my dudes. I’ve lose count of how many times I’ve read this once. Definitely more than four times.

The Twice-Told Tale || MCU || 15,789 words || Complete For someone he'd hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.

** SUCH an entertaining read. I’ve read this one definitely more than 5+ times.

The Act of Creation Will Be Your Salvation || MCU || 84,678 words || Complete When Tony Stark was seventeen years old, he built his first AI. On that day, he ceased to be his father's creation, and became a creating force in his own right.

That one act likely saved his life, and not always in the most obvious ways.

** This fic will ruin you in the best ways. Worth many, many, many rereads.

The Third Option || MCU || 220,962 words || Complete Homecoming A/U.

Ben and May divorced before Peter’s parents died, so when Ben is murdered Peter goes into foster care. It takes just a tiny taste of superpowers for Peter to decide he doesn’t want to put up with his horrible foster father anymore—the streets are infinitely more appealing. All he wants is to be Spider-Man anyway.

So he leaves.

Simple.

Simple, that is, until Iron Man needs Spider-Man’s help. Peter isn’t about to turn down an opportunity to fight alongside Tony Freaking Stark, but he also isn’t going to let his hero know that his recruit is a fifteen-year-old homeless dropout. So they strike a deal. Peter will help Tony. In return, the mask stays on.

And that’s when things get complicated.

** If you love angst, this is the one for you. Also worth many rereads.

Why I love A3! and am content being stuck in actor hell

In this essay I will

No seriously. I really love this game and I have no otaku/weeb friends irl that would ever play this with me. And I just want to fangirl and have no other outlet than writing a massive post just spilling out my love for this game. Read at your own risk, lol.

For me, what makes me fall in love with a game, more than their game play, is their story. I play games for their stories because I am a story lover. I love stories so much, that I majored in literature, lol. So for me, I only really play games that are story-centric. But even though I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember, I suck at them. My coordination is always so bad, and I’m so bad at grinding, that sometimes, when a game is too hard, I stop playing halfway through and never end up finishing the story out of frustration. There’s a lot of games on my switch and other apps that I’ve played that are on hiatus due to this reason.

But A3! is really simple to play. Took a while for me to get the game mechanics of it, and I was a bit confused at first, but unlocking the next chapter is a pretty simple feat. (The fact that I downloaded this game during the period where all the main story acts were accessible also helped.) So I got to read all of Main Story 1 and I FELL IN LOVE.

I fall in love with stories if I fall in love with the characters. And as a story consumer I am so impressed by the amount of thought the game developers had for each and every character.

My first impression of how the story would unfold was that Sakuya would be the main focus of this game and that other than Masumi, the other characters would fall to the way side. Sakuya was your typical shounen hero character, the optimistic, untalented but hard working guy (the Naruto in the early arcs of that series). He’s not my favorite type, but I understand that he’s a necessary and in my first impression, the most important character of the story. Then there’s Masumi, the kuudere/tsundere talented bishounen who’s the rival (i.e. the Sasuke). The fact that he falls in love at first sight with the player (or Izumi) was a hilarious surprise, and he became an instant fave. I know that some don’t like his obsessive yandere tendencies, but I find them hilarious and am quite fond of them (but I would never condone it irl). Honestly, during Harugumi’s act, I honestly thought that the focus would solely be on them. But it wasn’t.

Tsuzuru got the chance to pursue his dream of becoming a playwright and he dwells into some regrets of not pursuing his dream earlier. (The fact that he straight up dies after each script is written cracks me up every time. Seeing it in the anime adaptation killed me.) Citron is the comic relief. He’s necessary to gel a team of strangers together. But during this act, his past and background is hinted and it doesn’t seem to be all sunshine and rainbows (To be honest, and spoilers for the EN server here, but before I read Main Story 2, I straight up thought that Citron came from a different planet, lololol). And then Itaru. Chigasaki Itaru my man, my all time fave. To be honest, when I first saw him I didn’t have a favorable impression. The prince-like bishounen is the type I dislike the most. But he’s an otaku? A closet gamer? But to be honest, even when that was revealed, I didn’t think much of it. I initially thought, ‘Oh, they made a gap mode character, cute.’ And again, I thought that he would be put into the backdrop. BUT THEN HE WANTED TO QUIT AND HARUGUMI PERFORMED A STREET ACT TO CONVINCE HIM TO STAY AND I DIED (Omg, Citron in the anime adaptation killed me). I thought that only Sakuya and Masumi would be the focus, but I was very very pleasantly surprised to find that all characters had their own major screen time (Maybe save for Citron. His was kind of the smallest, but that’s for a reason. At this point, I’m tempted to make a first impressions vs. current thoughts post of every single character. Would anyone be interested in me doing that?).

By the end of Act 1, I fell in love with Harugumi. And to be honest, I was apprehensive of reading Act 2. I became so invested in Harugumi, and now I have to start a new journey with a new set of characters? I just wanted to read more about Harugumi and I was disappointed because I thought that I wouldn’t see those characters again. But again, I was pleasantly surprised to see that that wasn’t the case. Act 2 is Natsugumi’s story, but Harugumi characters were sprinkled here and there. And I thought that it was cute that Temna, a really prideful actor, looked up to Sakuya and asked him for advice. And then you have Sakuya saying that he didn’t really do anything as a leader, LOL. Save for sleeping on the stage together. And then Temna proceeds to follow this advice by going to Izumi and saying that after much research, the answer to a better team was sleeping together. LMAO TEMNA YOU IDIOT (I love you)! Natsugumi’s story was adorable, and I adored it.

Main Story 1 is the introduction and formation of every troupe. By Act 3, I was expecting it to become repetitive. What was impressive to me was that it wasn’t. Every single character is so vastly different from one another. They have their own personalities and fully fleshed out backstories. In Main Story 1 alone, that’s twenty characters. That’s highly impressive, especially like I mentioned beforehand with Act 1, everyone got their own screen time and character development. And for those that didn’t it’s because there’s a reveal/plot twist later down the line that’s at least hinted. You don’t always see that in t.v. shows/anime/manga with an ensemble cast (Voltron Legendary Defender, I’m staring at you. But that’s just one example, there’s others too).

But the game developers didn’t stop there. For each of those twenty characters, the writers developed not only their personalities and backstories, but also their own personalized relationship dynamics with other members of the company.

Each troupe is very unique in their dynamics. I have a very hard time picking a favorite troupe because I am just so fond of them all. The relationships that the members have with each other in each troupe is so different, so special. I think the reason why I love anime/manga so much is because found family or nakamaship is usually a prevalent theme in them and I am a sucker for these. One of my favorite genres is slice-of-life just because I love reading relationships, whether they be platonic or romantic. And each troupe has these in spades.

BUT IT DOESN’T END THERE.

By Act 3, I thought that I figured out the pattern. Harugumi supported Natsugumi during Act 2, so in Act 3, Natsugumi would do the same for Akigumi. And then Harugumi will fall to the wayside. But I was pleasantly surprised again (do you see the pattern here?) to find that wasn’t the case. Fucking Itaru became the outside support/advice giver for Banri LOL. What made me fall in love with the game even harder, and what made me impressed with the game developers even more, was that not only did they write relationships within the troupe, but they also created and personalized intertroupe relations for ALL TWENTY CHARACTERS. Like how?! That’s so much work and so much to juggle with! As an avid story reader, that was just so crazy impressive to me.

So that’s just me geeking about the narrative and character and relational development. Let’s talk about the gaming side of things, shall we?

I’m pretty familiar with app gatcha games as I’ve played my fair share of them. A3! strangely focuses more on the story aspect than the game aspect, which I am totally okay with. But what impressed me from the gaming perspective was how A3! handles events. Most gatcha games I’ve played, the event story line had nothing to do with the main story (SWD Obey Me and FE Heroes being prime examples here). Events were used as fanservice in order to get money from the consumers. And my first event was the Summer Beach Episode, so I initially thought that that was the same case for A3!. But it wasn’t.

When Main Story 1 ended, I was satisfied and at the same time I wasn’t. The story was good, and it ended well, but I wanted more. The game seemed to hint at more, so would I ever get more? And then I find out that all of the events (or most of them anyway) is the continuation of Main Story 1. That’s crazy!!! As a gamer, and as someone who has a family member that works in the gaming industry, I was crazy impressed because I haven’t seen this done before. I thought that that was immensely smart on the game developer’s part. Honestly, I know that not everyone plays the events in app games. But by making the events canon, and not au, gamers will be more inclined to play the event games. And I also know that it’s crazy easy to get bored of games, especially if the main story ended or the gameplay/story line isn’t that interesting. But the beauty of app games is that they could constantly be updated; their stories could continue to be added to. And with A3!, the event story line dwells deeper in these character’s backstories. Remember what I said about me initially thinking that the story will only revolve around protagonist and rival character? With each troupe play event, the lead and support actor constantly change. Everyone straight up gets their time to shine and their character development continues. Along with their relationships with others within the company. As someone who’s already invested in these characters, there’s no way that I would miss these events! I’m determined to play all of them! And that’s why I really think that the game developers came up with a smart strategy to get their gamers hooked.

My biggest regret is that I downloaded this game recently, so I missed the prior events. PLEASE, LIBER AND CYBRID, I WOULD PAY MONEY TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE PREVIOUS EVENT STORIES. I don’t need the gatcha cards pertaining to these events, I just really really want to read the previous event story lines. I am forever grateful to yaycupcake that I was able to read what I missed (and the future events), but it’s not the same as experiencing it myself.

What’s also smart, is that you have to read the event story lines, or else you won’t be able to completely understand Main Story 2. There’s aspects of things in the event that Main Story 2 will touch upon. So as a consumer, you really do want to participate in all the events.

Let’s talk about Main Story 2. I somehow discovered that in Main Story 2, each troupe is going to get an additional member (the BRBrookies). And I didn’t know how I felt about that. I liked the dynamic that each troupe has now. Wouldn’t an additional member ruin that? And could I really get myself to like these four new characters? The joke’s on me because I severely underestimated the game writers. You would’ve thought that I would have more faith in them since they impressed me so much. But I was a fool. Main Story 2 is great, and it didn’t seem like anything was pulled out of nowhere because it was all hinted at either in Main Story 1 or during the event stories. And each rookie is a perfect fit for their troupe and each troupes’ bonds continue to grow stronger and I cry every time. I can’t wait for it to come to the EN server.

Now I’m a talk about the music.

For a while, I was aware that in the otaku/weeb community, that there was an idol craze. But I never understood it’s appeal. This game is starting to make me understand, lol.

I may not have understood the idol craze, but I do like vocaloid. When I first listened to vocaloid, I thought that it was weird that I was listening to a computer program sing. But what really attracted me was the stories told in the songs (again, story lover here). As an example, I’m going to talk about Evillious Chronicles. The Evillious Chronicles told a story in each song that was all a part of a story, and it was also my introduction to vocaloid. Storytelling through songs was just genius to me, and I fell in love with it. Granted, I know that it’s not new to vocaloid, and that not every vocaloid song is part of a series or tell a story, but it was what drew me in.

So vocaloid may seem like a tangent here, but to me, the A3! music was kind of like vocaloid. I accidentally stumbled on it when I was actually searching for someone doing a gameplay video of the Alex in Wonderland event. I couldn’t find any, but instead I discovered Alice in Wonderland Go Go. I gave it a listen, and fell in love with the melody. The music fit the theme of Alice in Wonderland so well. And then I listened to Susume Pirates next. It fucking slapped. These two songs became my gateway to A3! songs.

I’m a go on a bit of a tangent here, but I’m a talk about the voice actors for a bit. As someone who’s also pursuing voice acting, I always appreciate when voice actors go the extra mile for their fans. Despite the vastly polar opinions of Voltron Legendary Defender, I adore the voice actors for their contribution to the fandom. Especially Josh Keaton (Shiro’s VA). So imagine my surprise, that I discover that not only is the Main Story completely voiced in A3! (which is very impressive and high production for a f2p app game), but the voice actors sing too in these songs too!

The A3ders sing the theme song. But each troupe has their own song, and each song is so vastly different from each other because these songs reflect the dynamics of their specific troupe, and I love that. But not only are there troupe songs, each character has their own song! And once you read the main story of each character, their song just becomes so much deeper! I give mad props to the song writers for tailoring each song to fit the character. I’m not going to lie, I bawled while reading the Manju Fist event, and then when I listened to Taichi’s character song afterwards? My mom thought that someone died since I was crying so hard. And did it end there? No! There’s a song that’s fucking tailored after every play! And they’re all bops!

The amount of times that A3! has impressed me is just way too much to count. It’s a fucking amazing game, story wise and music wise. And the love that the developers have for A3! is just so evident, and I love that. It definitely deserves its five star rating, and deserves an even bigger fandom here in the west.

“Luffy had no reaction to Boa...doesn’t that mean he won’t have romance?”

I’ve been debating about posting this blog because I was hesitant about the kind of reaction it would receive. But I think this topic is worth discussing logically.

Alright, so let’s dig into this thing.

If we’re going to understand Luffy and his actions (or not actions) towards Boa, then we have to first understand him as being a character that fits the Battle Shonen archetype. The genre, despite people’s complaints about it, is the most popular type of manga/anime genre there is. And One Piece, for all its glorious writing, world building and character development, is perfectly happy to sit in its genre, with Luffy fitting right into the hero archetype.

Where did this archetype even come from? It may surprise you to learn that Dragon Ball is in fact the grandfather of modern Shonen. You know what kind of stories were running in WSJ as DB’s contemporaries? Big burley manly men who never changed or progressed like Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

And the antithesis of this is Goku, little innocent Goku who takes this character type and flip it on its head. (Kid Goku is so cute guys! *cries*)

Toriyama’s writing absolutely can’t be understated here. Nobody had ever seen anything like Dragon Ball. It became a cultural phenomenon. It became a blueprint for success.

The classic Shonen Hero archetype has evolved into the following:

innocent

clueless when it comes to love

loves to fight/ get stronger

has a catch phrase

wants to protect their “Nakama”

thinks before they act

often stupid or a simpleton

gains power ups through training and other means

cute

Within the archetype you’ve got big hitters such as:

Goku— the OG who was so clueless, he couldn’t tell someone’s gender without slapping them in the crotch. Also obsessed with getting stronger to the detriment of, well, everything

Luffy— the uber innocent muffin who will do anything for his crew, and will go out of his way for people if it concerns their dreams. Aware of his weaknesses more than the others, Also really dumb at first

Naruto--- the misfit who starts out peeping at girls but then ends up taking on the burden of the entire world, because he’s THAT concerned about everyone and everything. Definitely the most selfless, has dumb moments, but smarter than the others

Ichigo--- the lovable grump who literally doesn’t give a shit. Coolest one of the bunch

Natsu--- loves his friends so much he gains power ups in the middle of the battle to win through the power of friendship. Probably the funniest one, takes life one job request at a time

Asta— the new kid on the block. Constantly yells to the point of irritation, believes working hard will solve all problems, doesn’t understand how relationships work and that nuns don’t get married

Deku— I know people will ask. Yes, he is a Shonen Hero, But doesn’t fit into the archetype so be will be left out of the discussion (the kid actually suffers from overthinking...complete opposite than these lovable idiots)

So, for fun, let’s throw all these Shonen Heroes into the same situation Luffy found himself in

All of these heroes fall through the ceiling and into Boa Hancock’s bath where they come face to face with the most beautiful woman on the planet who is naked.

Goku: completely unphased by Boa’s beauty. Asks who Boa is, and when she gets pissed, stands there with a “huh?” Look on his face when she shoots the love beam at him. After it has no effect, Goku puts his hand up with a smile and then says, “see ya!” Before flying off. Probably more concerned with where Vegeta went and if he managed to find a new level of Super Saiyan

Naruto: definitely phased by Boa. Would probably turn to stone ahahahaha

Ichigo: after being annoyed because he fell through the roof, would take one look at Boa, and get flustered out of embarrassment. By the time Boa tries to question him, he’s already left and found the exit.

Natsu: upon falling into the bath, he’d also be completely unphased by Boa. Would most likely take note of her earrings and ask about them. He’d probably also end up saying something Boa would find unbelievably rude, but something I would laugh hysterically at. “Woah?! Is that your guild mark?! Cool!!!”

Asta: I imagine Asta would most likely cover his eyes out of courtesy, and ask for the way out. When Boa gets mad and asks why he’s not head over heals for her, nor why he’s looking at her body, he’d say something like, “sister Lilly is waiting for me” and then leave. *sigh*

So here’s my point. Three of our boys would have the same exact reaction as Luffy. When it comes to the archetype, lusting after girls simply isn’t in their nature. Natsu’s reaction to a naked Lucy was to cover her boobs with his hands “fine I’ll cover them” he sighs in the dub. No lustful reaction whatsoever. I’m pretty sure any normal guy would, um, not react that way. He looks so bored.

Asta refused to peep at a girls bath (way to shut that down buddy), and Goku’s seen plenty of naked people and he doesn’t care. He even has the same reaction in Dragon Ball Super, after he’s married, when he accidentally sees another woman naked (who is very beautiful).

(Harsh reaction there Goku, lmao)

Luffy’s reaction to Boa is completely in line with the archetype. The innocent nature of the main character is extremely important. Oda even says in the SBS that it would just be plain weird for Luffy to get a nose bleed. I agree.

So, do our boys reactions to Boa mean romance isn’t possible for them? Of course not. Goku got married and had 2 kids. Naruto, who is the most interested in women, got married. Ichigo ended up with someone and had a kid. Natsu’s relationship with Lucy isn’t “canon” yet, buuuttt with this sequel coming and all the art Mashima’s been posting, I think we can all just call it and it’ll be happening. As for Asta, the manga is still young so it’s hard to say, but judging how Tabata is treating romance in his manga, I’d say It’s a distinct possibility. Asta does have a low-key herem going on 🤷‍♀️

When Goku was a kid, he came across a foe who could turn evil (ie bad thoughts) into a weapon and kill you. Goku was the only person to ever survive because he has no impure thoughts. It basically works the same way as Boa’s love-love beam.

This innocence is why Goku can ride his magical flying cloud the Kinto-Un, aka the Flying Nimbus. That innocence in Goku stays with him forever, too. Goku can ride the cloud after he’s gotten married and created spawns. The idea is, sex isn’t dirty. It’s just how you treat it may or may not make it dirty (ie unwarranted advances). Master Roshi, Goku’s perverted teacher, can’t ride the Kinto-Un. Using Goku as an example, our innocent muffins can still have romance/make babies. Their highly innocent nature doesn’t stop them, but normally with these types, they will only have romance/make babies if it’s with one very special person.

This is important to remember; for this genre, romance is a part of maturing and growing up. Most of these shonen heroes end up with someone once they’ve passed a certain point.

In One Piece Specifically

When it comes to Oda’s writing specifically, romance between characters doesn’t really play a huge role in One Piece like the way it does in Naruto and Fairy Tail. Everyone who reads OP should recognize this. Whatever ends up happening at the end of One Piece, there aren’t going to be a zillion pairings and those pairings staring off into the sunset.

There’s that famous line from Oda where he answered a question in the SBS (from chapter 317)

D: Doesn't anyone on Luffy's crew fall in love? Will there never be a tale of on-board romance? (Sanji is an exception in this case) I'm just wondering.

O: OF COURSE THEY'RE IN LOVE... WITH ADVENTURE! (← good one)

The SBS is a place where Oda jokes around with his readers. I think his answer is a good answer because it’s true, and when it comes down to it, a deflective answer. And whatever else Oda has said or hasn’t said in magazines or interviews, Oda can change his mind about what he wants to include or not include in his manga.

The reason I think this is worth bringing up is because I can see a storytelling shift which has changed in his manga. Romance in any capacity used to play almost no role in the early story. Just think about the type of characters he was creating. You’ve got Nolan’s descendant who hangs out with guys that look like monkeys. You’ve got the giants of Elbaf, you’ve got the Galley-Law company guys. There’s hardly any blood families in the first half either. Vivi and her Dad are a notable example, but they are the minority, not the majority. The first half of the story was mostly focused on people who were not blood related and were making their own families, like the Franky family. Like the Strawhats.

Post time-skip and New World, we’ve got a very different story being told. With Kyros and his wife Scarlet, Oda actually gave us the backstory to their romance! Dressrosa was set up a bit for that type of story, but I still find it notable. It wasn’t necessary for character motivations for Kyros. It felt like Oda wrote it because he wanted to.

You’ve got romance playing a big role in Whole Cake Island, even with Chiffon and Bege. This is a married couple with a young son, and not the type of characters we’d see in the early story. Sanji and Pudding were more of a serious type of relationship, even with Sanji “choosing to feel love” for Pudding. Guys, that’s...mature. We’ve seen a lot more blood ties in the New World, even to the point of the Big Mom pirates, dysfunctional as they are.

In the end, you write what you know. When One Piece started, Oda was a single guy, now he’s in his early 40′s with a daughter. The types of stories he’s telling now are based on more mature aspects of his own life.

Does this mean Luffy will most definitely end up with someone? Of course not. There’s a distinct possibility OP will end with Luffy as he is and there be no pairings of any sort.

But to dismiss the possibility of parings based on Luffy’s reaction to women or something Oda said back in some interview, is also too dismissive of a stance to take. Like his Shonen counterparts, romance for Luffy is a possibility. Remember what I said about the genre; romance is sign of growing up and maturing. Luffy is still growing and maturing, so it isn’t out of the cards.

In the end, Only Oda knows. Until One Piece has concluded, we’ll have to wait and see.

SEVENTEEN: Superpower!AU

I randomly started to think about this after talking about me wanting to sonic scream every second of my life.

Long! Under the cut/keep reading.

S.Coups - Barriers/Shields

I didn’t want to give him something clunky or cliche like super speed or strength??? (sorry if i offended anyone D: )

But hear me out

Not only can he block attacks with his barriers, he can use them for offensive purposes too?

He can create multiple at a time with not a lot of effort due to practice, so the added force of hitting each barrier with another barrier works like those collision balls in physics?

My idea of physics is not generally sound though, but if this can work then yeah??? (I mean, I ended up with a C in my honors freshman physics class and refused to go into regular classes b/c my ego but)

He can also make those barriers sturdy enough to put things on

Need a trip to the fourth floor from the outside? Done. Want to catch something from falling from the tenth floor? Done. Gotta walk over some puddle and don’t wanna go around? Sure, Jeonghan. Done.

Okay but listen to this

The barrier’s color or opacity depends on whatever Seungcheol decides

If he wants privacy he can make them dark colored and opaque

If he want to prank someone and have them run into a barrier he makes them totally clear

If he wants to be a weirdo and color a random wall puke colored? Okay that works too

Can make different shapes of barriers as well

The most common ones made are circular or rounded ones and flat ones

As a surprise for the other members, he asked DK to help him make as many tiny little light balls as he could and then trapped those balls in little barriers

They looked like stars and it made all the members really happy

It was super tiring for both of them but Seungcheol felt like it was worth it to see all those smiles and some teary eyes (it was totally not him that teared up, nope)

Once was able to trap some members that were fighting in a small barrier until they made up

S.Coups is also very protective of the other members and people he’s very close to, so this would work out nicely I think

He’s the force that protects the others, but he’s also the pillar of support that allows everyone else to be able to function

Jeonghan - Mind Control/Manipulation

I felt like this was some sort of given?

With whoever Jeonghan makes eye contact with he has complete control over

He can be pretty lazy so this works out pretty well

And being one of the oldest, a lot of times it’s hard for the others to not look him in the eye respectfully (at least that’s one of the signs of respect for me)

Even though it really takes locking eyes with him, Jeonghan has to put quite a bit of focus into his power to make sure they stay under his control

But he can maintain it for a hefty amount of time

The longest someone’s been under is ~36 hours and it was Hoshi because he accidentally sat on Jeonghan’s stomach while he was taking a nap somewhere

It hurt a lot lol

He can also control multiple people at a time, but that’s more straining that one person, so he can’t do it for too long

The more time he spends controlling someone the more fatigued he gets, but if he puts a lot of his focus and effort into it the results last longer

You can’t tell, probably because you’re under his control by then, but whenever Jeonghan uses his power his eye color gets slightly lighter???

The lighter it is the more under the influence you are, so it’s like a glow stick

That’s a bad comparison lmao

But you can tell it’s wearing out when his eye color returns to normal or gets darker

If he wanted to he could probably control an army of people for however long he wanted to but

“Nah, too much work, maybe next time”

Not a lot of people can fight against his mind control, usually they’re able to if they’re inflicted a wound or feel immense pain

Mingyu is usually the one to get out the quickest because he has enough control over himself to throw himself into a wall and break the connection completely

Jeonghan doesn’t even try anymore at this point

Sometimes he makes eye contact with Mingyu just to see him throw himself into the wall and then walk away like nothing happened

Sometimes he does take control of Mingyu and makes him throw himself into the wall because he used his clones to wake him up from a nap by crowding in a circle and screaming

Joshua - Lucid Dreaming/Dream Control

Being able to control his own dreams isn’t really a power, lucid dreaming I know is possible, but he can control other people’s dreams as well

He can also put them “under a spell”

Basically he can knock them out and control their dreams too if they’re not already asleep, like, he can make them fall asleep by his own will

The only thing is that he has to be touching the person one way or another to travel into their dream and control it, and his body on the outside reality world is asleep too and almost frozen in time?

The way to break the connection is to disturb Joshua while he’s in the dream world

A bump, shove, anything will do as long as you manage to move him some

Think of it like Ino Yamanaka from Naruto, how she can do that mind control jutsu thing? Yeah. Her body drops whenever she does that, except Joshua is able to remain standing a little bit

This is effective for stopping someone or buying time for the others because the person being affected can’t overpower Joshua’s dream control unless they can lucid dream too

Even if they can, it’s really hard because this is Joshua’s thing, you feel me?

His favorite thing to do in his own dreams is to create entirely new worlds and just play around with that

Sometimes he creates his own animals

He scared himself awake because combining an ostrich with a weasel and a dolphin was not exactly the best combination for him

He likes the magical type of feelings for his dreams, so he often asks Vernon about plants to make it seem a lot better

He also likes to set the stages of his favorite animes and sometimes creates the characters too! It’s a little harder to create 3D versions of 2D animated people though

If Joshua’s feeling adventurous, he’ll travel into the other’s dreams and play around with them

Jeonghan was not amused when his dreamland got turned into some huge raccoon telling him about the pros and cons about frog mating

Joshua keeps telling Jeonghan that that was actually a dream and he had no part of that

Controlling dreams also means that Joshua can create nightmares, which sometimes scares himself because he doesn’t want to have to do that to anybody

He’s had his own accidents happen in his own dreams by creating nightmares for him. The ostrich-weasel-dolphin... dolseltrich? Well, that was tame enough for him at least, but there has been some pretty dark stuff where he doesn’t like to talk about it if you try to bring it up

He talks to the other 95 liners about them sometimes about that

Junhui - Teleportation/Portal Manipulation

I wasn’t sure what to give him, but for some reason I saw that this really fit???

Think of it as Goblin (The Great and Lonely God), the KDRAMA, where he can teleport to another place using a door

For example, he’s in one area. Opens a door, walks through, whole different area.

Except he can do this with any frame like structure?

A window, car door, subway door, picture frame, empty door frame even. As long as it’s some sort of frame structure, he can do it

He prefers using doors with the actual door because it causes the least suspicion and he feels a lot cooler for some reason

Jun can travel to anywhere he wishes as long as he’s been there, there’s a frame where he is, and there’s a frame on the other side

It doesn’t take a lot of effort because he’s done it so many times to just escape from one place and go relax in another

He frequents going to his neighborhood in his hometown and just walking around

It’s possible for him to bring someone else along, but they have to be touching him somewhere and him focusing on them coming along

It feels super weird for the other person though

For Jun it feels like he’s just continuing to walk through a door like normal, but for the other person it feels like they just went through a heavy amount of air pressure no matter where they get teleported to

It’s bearable enough, but once Minghao threw up because of it

The first time Jun discovered he could teleport was when he was going to be late for school and ran out the front door, only to crash into one of his classmates at school

After that he abused his power like crazy lol

Always agreed to go whenever his mom asked him to go to the store because it gave him a chance to use his power

For some reason he just loves it and wants to use it every chance he gets?

Like he walked under a ladder once and instead of coming out the other side like a normal person who’s about to experience some bad luck, he waltzes into his friend’s bathroom where his friend is pooping

Then he just walks out with a cheeky smile and he’s home while the last thing he heard was his friend hurriedly flushing and angrily yelling

“Lol, what? I was never there while you were pooping???”

Has gotten into so much trouble by his mom for so many things

“Junhui, did you walk into the teacher’s conference room again?”

“LmAO goTTa blAST”

Likes to sneak into the other member’s rooms and lock it right when they come by and try to open it

Hoshi - Blood Manipulation

The first thing I thought of when trying to decide on something for Hoshi. That and I was looking through my old picture files and saw Mirai Kuriyama from Beyond the Boundary/Kyoukai no Kanata

But can you imagine Hoshi holding this really gnarly sword made of blood???

Can also control the blood of others but it’s slightly harder if it’s not his own

Really handy in situations where he has to stop heavy blood flow coming out of a nasty wound. He’s saved Mingyu and Vernon from Dino before and had to reassure the youngest that the damage wasn’t that great, even though it kind of was :(

He loves to wield dual swords because he thinks it makes him look super cool and like one of those protagonists in those animes

It kind of does and Joshua likes to play around with him in the anime dreamlands from time to time

He used to be terrified of blood before finally being able to have at least some control over his powers because there was an accident involving his teacher at a school

The teacher slipped and banged their head, causing blood to start pouring out and he felt so useless just standing there so he tried to do something

He panicked and jumped when someone tried to pull him back because his hands were just getting bloody, then he managed to turn the teacher’s blood into a weapon and nearly impaled the child

He cried

Eventually was able to come to terms with his power and just practice in order to tell himself that everything was okay and that he could totally control it

He would refuse to make a weapon out of the other member’s blood if they offered in a time of battle because he just can’t do that after using the teacher’s blood that one time

It’s often very taxing on himself and his body too since he’s using his own blood, and a great amount of it too, to make not one but two lengthy swords

He names all of his “moves” and thinks they’re the coolest ever???

“Check this out! I call this ‘Blood Rain’“

“Cool, man. That’s literally you turning your swords into multiple little pellets and making them rain”

“I know, man. It can be really scary though because I can control where they end up”

“Oh my gosh, man. You’re right”

“I know, man”

“Man...”

Wonwoo - Ability to freeze time

I felt like invisibility was a little too cliche (again, sorry if I offended you!!!! :( )

Wonwoo can only stop time for a little while, maybe up to ~3 hours if he really felt like it

He can’t go forward or back in time, just stop it

Too much makes him super fatigued and nauseous

It really only affects him though, so it’s hard to make time stop with others too

When he does get tired though and randomly cuts out of his frozen time frame, it may look like he teleported, which his power if often easily mistaken for

Uses this to get away with a lot of things

“Wonwoo did you wash the dishes yet?”

“Yeah”

“I just looked and-”

“Lol look again”

Also takes advantage of messing with the other members

One second there’s Woozi reading or something, the next second he has both fingers in his nose and the book it on top of his head at some weird position. Wonwoo always has the camera ready and then runs out in the frozen time frame before he can get caught

The colors slightly dull whenever Wonwoo goes into a time frame, which he doesn’t really like so he tries not to stay in the time frame for too long

At random times when he’s bored will Wonwoo just randomly freeze time and look at his surroundings and maybe laugh at someone’s face if they’re making a weird expression

Has tons of photos of those weird expressions of the members and shenanigans

Whenever someone says something like “Watch out!” Wonwoo will immediately go into a time frame by reflex and look around for whatever

He’s saved quite a number of kids in his school days from getting hit in the head with a ball

Like Jun, he likes to take advantage of his power and lock doors before the others can open it, but he does this to Jun as well or slips in just before Jun can lock it

Likes to talk with Vernon about plants and sometimes spends his time in the garden area because even in the dulled out world the bright greens and colorful flowers always seem so vibrant?

That’s why he loves the garden so much too

Asks Vernon to grow him some flowers every now and then and Vernon is always like “yes, more babies, thanks”

Woozi - Wings/Flight

Not exactly a power, I’d say, but wings are really cool!!!!

He can control what wings come from his back, for example he wants the wings of an albatross? Yeah!! Bat wings? Sure thing! Hummingbird? Boom, also gets the proper back muscles to support such quick movements

It’s a very complex process though, so it’s almost like shapeshifting but not fully

Woozi has to be able to know the muscle and bone structure of the wings he wants to use, which require a lot of memory, biology, and logic usage

He’s the team’s aerial support so he feels like if something happens with the team that he could’ve stopped, he’d be to blame since he has a great advantage and the best view out of all of the members

His favorite wings are owl wings because he finds them the easiest to form

Because he’s so used to flying around, Woozi walks a little funky and sometimes can’t sit still when he has nothing to do

He’s constantly busy though, so that’s not too much of a problem

Has a habit of making really small wings appear whenever he’s working because he feels like if he doesn’t practice at least a little bit everyday he’ll be at a disadvantage and bring the team down

Also has a habit of wrapping his wings around a member when they’re both sleepy. It works like a big fluffy blanket

He sheds feathers lol

“Woozi, are you trying to stuff our pillows?”

“Shut up, give me that”

Stores all of the feathers in some huge box for some reason, says its a reminder that his powers are real and not just some dream

In reality he just wants to make this really big blanket stuffed with feathers for all the members to use at the same time to keep warm

He was some really developed back muscles (bREATHES HEAVilY), and slightly alternated ones because of using those wings so much

Overall pretty developed because using those wings requires a LOT of strength and willpower to get off of the ground

He’s learned how to use the wings as weapons as well, even taking advantage of some loose feathers and swinging his wings at an angle so that they fly off and directly into something

It’s really scary how accurate he’s become, like, bulls eyes for days, 360 no scope

His wings are generally very large to help with lifting off of the ground so it’s hard to get into compact places with him, which puts him at a disadvantage when against someone

But if you are in a compact area that leads into an open space in some way or another, be careful or you might find yourself stuck in that tiny place with a bunch of feathers impaled to the walls

Honestly really admires birds and has at least several books just dedicated to birds stowed away somewhere

Likes to freely fly whenever he has the time, yet he claims he’s practicing

Took Chan flying once and then it became a weekly thing since he kept asking and Woozi actually really enjoyed the company of someone up there with him

Also likes to fly in dreams with Joshua

DK - Light/Brightness Manipulation

I felt like this was also kind of a given

I wanted to give him Seungkwan’s power, sonic screaming, but was torn between this and that

I ended up giving him “something that was a bright as his personality and smile”

Let’s be real though

His smile is bright enough as it is, like, he can blind you???

Often times will DK mess around and put his hands up near his cheeks and smile so that it’s so bright you can’t tell that it’s actually his hands that are causing the brightness

He can really only control the brightness levels in his hands and for some reason his eyes

Like, no other part can light up except those???

It’s kind of scary when his eyes light up in the dark because they’re one solid, bright light

If he tries hard enough a ball of light can physically come off of DK

Honestly after he got the hang of that, the members had to wear sunglasses in the house because of how bright and how many balls of light there were

He’s tried to eat one of those balls of light and ended up lighting up his tongue for a whole week

It also felt like his stomach was on fire for the first couple of hours after he ate it

Using too much of his power gives DK a headache though, almost like looking at a bright light for too long and your eyes hurting really badly

It’s like that

One time he got super excited and screeched and then his entire body lit up

It was amazing

Like he was doing a full on Pokemon evolution, man

Eventually he dimmed and the only thing that was different was that his expression was completely shocked

He’s not allowed to screech in the house anymore because he was too bright and too loud

“You nearly blind us on numerous occasions, but pls... no deaf”

Likes to pretend that he can fart or poop out those balls of light since they can come out of places where skin is showing since it’s exposed to light the most

He feels great in direct sunshine and often makes jokes that he’s performing photosynthesis

Regrets making those jokes because he usually isn’t able to share a snack with some of the members since they say he can make food from the sun

Mingyu - Cloning

Okay, so he can make at most 20 clones of himself without too much strain

He “reabsorbs” them later and basically earns whatever they did

For example, one clone learned how to do some really complicated dance move in the course of 5 hours

Mingyu not only gets that muscle memory and knowledge of the dance move, but he also gets the fatigue and strain from it as well

It’s not always beneficial because of this, but it helps a lot with multitasking for simple things such as chores and papers and stuff

Sure, the stress and strain add up, but I guess so does the endurance?

Mingyu is always saying things like: “I lost in rock, paper, scissors? Lmao that wasn’t me, that was my clone so it doesn’t count”

There was one time where he chose not to listen to the warning advice from the others and decided to make as many clones as he could and do a whole lot of work

The minute he reabsorbed them he collapsed and passed out because of how much exhaustion and stress he received

He got put into the “time out cage” by Seungcheol

When he first met the others he fooled most of them by pretending he had multiple twins or triplets, like 15 of them.

“Yeah, we’re all identical”

“How is that even possible?”

“Our mom liked to eat a lot so she had a lot of room in her bottomless stomach??? I’m pretty sure there’s more of us??? They’re just??? Waiting??????”

At those skills that his clones learned and he learned at the same time add up somewhat and that’s how he’s nicknamed “the boy who can do anything/everything”

Doesn’t hold information as well as skill sets though

So some person might recognize him and thank him for helping out with groceries and he won’t even remember doing that?

The members sometimes use that to their advantages and make him do the chores

“Thanks for saying you’ll cover my turn for doing the dishes, bro”

“????k then?”

Once he sneezed and like 50 clones came out of him and it was the most horrifying and hilarious thing ever

They all stacked on top of each other in a compact room and the original Mingyu couldn’t even reabsorb them all because he was squashed under so many of himself

There are never those random fights over who’s the original Mingyu because only the original can do the reabsorbing, and they all do something to agree on because they’re all the same person?

Even with the overwhelming numbers of clones, Mingyu is a strong man and very intelligent one too?

Fighting against Mingyu can be intimidating, but against numerous clones of him? N o p e

The8 - Elasticity

Have you seen this kid move around and dance on stage?

You can not tell me that he doesn’t have the power to stretch and bend however he wants, nope, it’s settled for me, yup yup yup

This helps with his b-boying because he can do those really complex moves without having to worry about the way his body moves or about his joints too much

Likes to take things from the other member’s pockets from across the room

He’s sitting literally across the room and you might feel something in your pocket and realize that it’s Minghao’s nimble fingers snatching away a snack probably

Often times likes to trip members as they walk

Very, very flexible, and very much so when it comes to learning new things to do with his powers

Is often asked by Woozi to get things from a higher shelf because he doesn’t want to ask and get teased by Mingyu

Is always the one to unlock the doors after Wonwoo and Jun lock them because he’s the only one who can flatten his arm and get it under the door frame and to the door handle

Sometimes Jun gets cheeky and makes it so that Minghao’s hand ends up in some restroom and ends up touching something he probably never wants to try and imagine in his head

The farthest The8 can stretch would probably be an entire football field

Creeped the whole crew out when he revealed that it was possible for him to rotate his head and neck around like an owl

Helps out Seungcheol with some fighting members by putting them in the “time out box” with ease

He does a lot of the dirty work for the others voluntarily because he tries to lift that burden off of the others as much as he can?

He doesn’t like to talk about it though, but he may ask Jun to take him somewhere more secluded so he can spill whatever’s been troubling him

Morning stretches often include The8 wrapping his limbs numerous times around each other and then releasing a series of cracks and pops in his joints

There are so many it’s really scary

Claims that if he rotates and wraps his arms around enough and lets it unravel quickly, he can fly like a helicopter. No one has yet to see it

His limbs go numb when outstretched for too long, so it ends up looking like a huge noodle that’s slowly retracting

It’s happened at least 30 times already

When he knows a member is feeling down, he’ll sneakily leave little cheerful notes or snacks nearby them without him getting up so they won’t know it’s him

They actually do since he’s not that quick at retracting his limbs...

Seungkwan - Sonic Scream

Basically what I wanted to have myself as said before the cut, but like

I was debating on giving this power to DK

I felt like it kind of fit Seungkwan more and then pictured him screaming in that haunted house on One Fine Day season 1 and then said: “Yep, it fits somehow”

I mean he can really hit those high notes too and I feel like they’re just really powerful notes as well

It also really helps for when a member bugs or annoys him he’ll be able to make them stop really quickly

“Stop or I’ll scream”

It was especially bad when he was a baby and cried lmao

His mom had such a hard time with him, but Seungkwan was a good kid most of the time

He’s really worried that he won’t be able to control his volume and accidentally hurt the other members

He’s only done it once by accident because one of the members accidentally scared him and then got blasted into the other wall with ringing ears

He’s doing his best to be able to control it and he’s progressed so far from the days where it was super hard to control!

As a child, Seungkwan used to not talk a lot because he was always afraid of accidentally being too loud

Now he talks and talks and talks!

The other members may seem like they’re annoyed sometimes, but they’re actually really happy because they understand how hard it was for him!!!!

Likes to talk with Vernon’s plants and uses a really soft voice, it’s adorable really

He loves to sing high notes too! Just to reassure himself that he’s the one in control and not his power

In school he was a part of the debate team because he liked to debate just a little, and also to listen to all the gossip that his seniors had

His voice was always very powerful during his debates, so he came across as very intimidating and it was really effective

Seungkwan once found it really amusing when he sucked in some helium and used his power with the squeaky voice

It was terrible lol

Like Alvin and the Chipmunks on full volume in the dead of the night

The loudest he can scream can probably make someone go deaf, but this poor baby would hate for that to happen

His laughs tend to be really loud though and that’s honestly when he feels the most free because often times he has little control over himself when he laughs

So when he laughs really loudly you know you’re doing a great job at being funny :)

Vernon - Plant Manipulation

For some reason I can see an image of Vernon surrounded by a bunch of green, healthy plants and he looks so happy i’M SCREAMING

Vernon can control the growth of plants and stuff? Just your general earth magic kind of thing

I can see him really liking some flowers and cacti though?

CACTUS VERNON?

There’s his Notocactus Sopa cactus named Nacho, a Mammillaria Spinossisima and Maria, and Rose Echeveria named Sofia!!!!

He likes to talk with Wonwoo and Joshua about the plants and it’s just so endearing?!?!?!

Vernon’s very comfortable with at least one plant around, so there’s a couple of plants in every room in the dorm

You can bet that he talks to those every day too, but not as often as his cacti

He especially loves it when the other members talk to the plants too because he can feel the love that the plants feel

And Seungkwan talking in an extremely soft voice to the plants because he doesn’t want to be too loud makes Vernon super, super, super, super happy!!!

You can bet all of your lunch money that Vernon supplies the edible greens for the food

As well as herbs and medicines??

There’s a whole garden area dedicated to Vernon because he just loves his plant friends so much

But he’s often super conflicted because he wants to grow a lot of things but has troubles finding room or suitable spots for light or shade or places where competition for nutrients and water isn’t as bad

Always knows the strongest plants to use whenever the members are in a tough spot

Whenever he’s nervous, Vernon accidentally makes those stinky purple flowers. We had some at one of my previous houses, I think they were Society Garlic (EDIT: they are! P.U! i literally just googled ‘stinky purple flower’)

It’s almost like an equivalent to someone farting when they’re nervous

He’s afraid of Venus Flytraps for some reason?

He made one and then decided nOPE and then made it shrivel up and crumble and grow some cactus in it’s place

But like a huge cactus so he wouldn’t have to feel guilty about seeing that dead plant

Somehow there are some Venus Flytraps here and there in the garden and he’s honestly so confused? It’s the guilt seeping in and he isn’t aware of it

Dino - Berserk

I wanted to give Dino something like shapeshifting but I was thinking of Overwatch and thought of Winston and then went “lol why not”, then it just stuck and now I can’t part with this headcanon???

He has a hard time controlling himself while he’s in the state since he doesn’t have a lot of experience

There’s a significant growth in muscle and a very tense aura around him when he does go “Full On” (reference to iZombie)

You might not see it, but if you’re able to look close enough without being pummeled to a little pulp, there’s some sort of sparks nearby his eyes along with looking kind of bloodshot

Whenever he’s able to regain control and go back to normal, Dino is normally found panting and on the verge of unconsciousness

Sometimes he can’t control when he’ll go berserk, usually of times of immense stress or panic, and he beats himself up over it even though the others reassure him countless times that he’s not to blame

But he couldn’t help himself when he found out he broke Seungcheol’s ribs, knocked Vernon into a coma for three days, and effortlessly flung Mingyu’s clones practically into the next dimension so that when he reabsorbed he’d go through torture

The members all love him though and would go through that countless times over just to make sure he’s safe and sound at the end of it

They’ve also learned from that experience and found more effective uses of their powers and how to help Chan calm down? Jeonghan has the advantage in this situation though because even in his frenzy, Chan can’t help but maintain eye contact and he listens a lot to Jeonghan anyways

Physical strength and speed and not only enhanced in this state, Dino also makes more calculated decisions surprisingly as seen when he did damage to all of Mingyu’s clones

He gets nightmares frequently because he hates how little control he has, so he often talks to Joshua and asks for some help in his dreams

Eventually learns to control his dreams somewhat or is able to force himself to wake up from a nightmare

He has a lot of control over his emotions because he’s so wary of himself, but that doesn’t mean he’s on emotional lock down!

He has only little control of his power, but even if it’s just a little bit that he can do, he gets really excited and proud of himself!

“Hyung! Hyung! Did you see that? Did you really?!”

“Yes, Dino”

“Are you sure?! I can do it again! Watch”

He proceeds to show how his arm muscles developed into the state and sometimes you have to look away because wow that’ s m a n l y

Was once able to control himself in berserk mode because he panicked when an accident happened and he wanted to protect all of the members

He gets constantly reminded of how loved he is and how proud all of the members are of him

hello! i know it's a bad idea to engage in any shipping discourse but for the sake of constructive criticism, i asked an sns shipper if she thinks there's atleast potential in ss if ever sakura had that capacity to stand up to sasuke and if she wasn't as much fixated on him during shipuuden and the war arc. i even brought up the wasted opportunity of sasuke vs sakura that was shown in the game. the sns shipper gave a very structured and well-versed answer and i do agree with some of her points. i'm not even anti-sns and i understand the support this ship gets. but this person really hates sakura. so her answer to my question if ss has potential is straight up NO. hate is an understatement. she explicitly said she DETESTS sakura and ss xD. granted, her hatred is valid since sakura's writing is very flawed and inconsistent. what i didn't like was when she said why am i trying to change sakura's personality (her standing up to sasuke whether physically or verbally) when "she's constantly on heat when he's around". gosh, i really wanted to retaliate here and say it's called freakin character development. i mean, that's what she's mainly hated for right? the fact that she's obsessed and a pushover when it comes to sasuke. having that change especially during the war arc doesn't mean she's out of character, it means development. but gah, sakura haters are really hard to argue with so i just stayed silent.

to briefly summarize, her main point of argumentation is that sakura was toxic to both naruto and sasuke. sasuke's relationship with naruto is more defined than whatever he had with sakura. she brought up ss's pt.1 moments and said that sasuke would do the same to naruto, if not even better. as for naruto's case, sakura was a mean bitch and was so unfair to him throughout the series. simply put, even if sns has questionable elements, they are more organic and healthy than sasusaku.

this got me thinking. between sasunarusasu and sasusaku, despite both having toxic elements, i think the reason why there are relatively more sns shippers is because there's balance. compared to sakura, sasuke has shown more consideration towards naruto and we all know naruto cares for sasuke just as much and he isn't afraid to stand up to this guy.

idk what i'm even trying to ask here. i guess i'm just ranting lol. i've always seen your comments in youtube vids defending sakura and ss and i know you have an extensive knowledge of the naruto manga in general. you could only imagine how shocked i am when i found out you're a male. it's really rare to find someone like you. :)

anyways, i just feel so disappointed and pressed lmao. ss shippers couldn't catch a break from haters. like yea, some of us know it has shit writing in the canon and explanations regarding their relationship in the series is very limited. i already accepted the fact that they are underdeveloped and was borderline toxic. but then, between kishimoto's pitiful inability to write female characters properly and SP's biased treatment towards sasusaku plus the manga's main narrative focusing on naruto and sasuke, i just feel like it's kinda unfair for antis to shit on ss shippers when in reality, most of us just hold onto it because of nostalgia. most sasusaku shippers came to be when they were very young. i even found comments saying they started shipping them when they were 6 or 7. in my case, i was 12 lol.

it's kinda unfair since sns has the upperhand bcoz the series is mainly about them. naruhina has retcons and SP and what does ss have? small pt.1 moments, headcanons, fanons and to top it off SP's biased ass shitting on it. the ss fandom isn't perfect and has its fair share of immature stans as well, but i'm still glad that didn't stop authors and artists from making content. ss has got some of the best fanfictions, fanarts and doujinshis. i just wished antis won't attack them as much.

anyways, i'm not even asking a specific question. i just ranted. i just needed to get this out of my system. sorry for that 😅

Hey! It's been a long while since I got asks like this lol! Once tumblr went all anti-nsfw a few years ago, we all kinda migrated to Twitter for our SS/Anime cravings tbh but I'm glad and flattered you decided to ask me on my thoughts! :)

I won't write long as again, tbh, I'm kinda retired from debating/arguing with antis on things of SS/Naruto/Etc (unless I'm simply too triggered to let it go lol. You've already probably seen my long Sakura video so I won't go too much into details of what I already covered with Sakura's character. But to answer you, I'll keep it to the point.

It's ok of course to say Kishi's writing is flawed, I mean he is human and we know Naruto has holes. Every manga/story does of course. When it comes to SS, I personally bring it to this: Sasuke and Naruto's relationship is NOT Sasuke and Sakura's relationship. And that's (imo) ok. Sasuke and Naruto obviously have a bond only they have. Both lonely and orphaned, rivals with each other, haters to brother, you know it all. But Sakura is different. She's simply a normal, head-strong and caring girl. Kishi wanted to write a normal girl, and he did a darn well good job, because just like normal girls (or people in general), they're imperfect. That's why she first appealed to me.

Anyway, to the point, SS is pretty easy to follow. Sakura likes Sasuke....what's the problem? Where's the toxicity, lol. Sure she fangirls over him as a 12 year old girl, but again, Sakura is normal. Most girls I knew that age did the same thing. Most BOYS I knew were super...*cough* ready to be with girls (*cough cough*, puberty, everyone, *cough*). Sasuke is cool and confident. Sakura lacked confidence, so naturally she was drawn to Sasuke. Sasuke at first found her annoying (as he did with Naruto too) but as the became a team, she bonded. SS' bond is NOT NSN's bond. SS's bond is built upon a simply caring basis. Sakura always cared for Sasuke, and Sasuke always was protective of Sakura. Forest of Death, Sand Invasion, etc...add in the angst of Shippuden (nobody can tell me one was better than the other during Shippuden, Sasuke was 'bout to axe everyone while in darkness lol), blank period bonding, and then Boruto. There it is in SIMPLE terms.

As far as "standing up" to Sasuke...not sure where this person is coming from....again, NSN is NOT SS....Sakura has stood up to Sasuke at times. In the FOD where she indirectly called him a coward, when she pleaded with him to not fight in the Prelims and threatened to tell the proctors of the curse mark, trying to stop him from leaving Konoha., etc. If she was a "doormat", she would have said "Ok Sauske, you do whatever you want, it's all ok my love!" That was chapter 3 Sakura. A LOT of haters can't move beyond that chapter tbh...moving on. The main thing is, she wasn't STRONG enough to stop him by FORCE. She wasn't written to. Sure I woulda liked some angsty moments of them fighting, TRUST ME, you already know. But Kishi wanted the fighting to mostly be between Naruto and Sasuke, as most battle Shonen go. It's Goku and Vegeta, Deku and Bakugou, you name it. She was written to LOVE him unconditionally. And despite Kishi's misses here and here, it's clear as day to many people that they do indeed, love each other. Sarada is a product of years of redemption, forgiveness, and understanding between SS (which is....literally some of the themes of Naruto....Zabuza...Haku...Gaara...Pein...Obito....list goes on...).

And of course Naruto and Sasuke's relationship got more spotlight. They're essentially the Shonen "duo" like I explained before with Goku and Vegeta. It's a common tope which can be a bit annoying imo since other characters get shafted, but they're gonna be seen more by the public. At the end of the day, Kishi modeled NSN after his relationship with his BROTHER....that was one of Naruto's main story plots. AGAIN, OF COURSE it's gonna be pushed and seem like it's more "balanced"...it's a battle Shonen, not a love story lol. The love stuff is sprinkled in. This isn't a Shojo. If it was, SS would be the main focus (or...I guess NSN if Kishi WANTED to go that route).

So to finish off, you're right with the SP thing. But it can't be helped. If people wanna say NSN has more "development", let them. At the end of the day, they're shown more to the viewers because they're the Goku and Vegeta of Naruto. They push the narrative, not a romance. They're Kishi's go-to boys. They're the essential main character and rival. It's nothing new. But you know what else? They're. NOT. A. COUPLE. SasuSaku is, and again, romance is SPRINKLED in. It's N O T a Shojo and not the main focus. Honestly...the arguments that NSN shipper used are a bit weak knowing full well that SNS represent Kishi's brother and himself.

I mean...tldr, I could just say "Kishi and his bro are Naruto and Sasuke. SO nah bro, NSN has no romantic development. I wasn't meant to lol."
