YouTube is a popular online video-sharing platform that allows users to upload, view, and share videos with a global audience.
It was created by three former PayPal employees—Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim—in February 2005 and later acquired by Google in November 2006.
Since then, YouTube has become one of the most visited websites on the internet, with millions of users and a vast library of videos covering a wide range of topics.
Tumblr media
If you're looking to boost your YouTube channel's success, here are Five Success Tips to Grow Youtube Channel.
Here are some interesting facts about YouTube:

Global Reach: YouTube is available in more than 100 countries and supports over 80 different languages, making it a truly international platform for content creators and viewers.
Diverse Content: YouTube offers a vast array of content, including music videos, educational tutorials, comedy sketches, vlogs, movie trailers, live streams, and much more. It has become a platform for individuals and businesses to express themselves creatively and share their knowledge and experiences.

The YouTube Partner Program enables creators to earn money through ads displayed on their videos, channel memberships, Super Chat, merchandise shelf, and sponsored content, among other avenues.

Community Interaction: YouTube fosters an active and engaged community through features such as comments, likes, shares, and subscriptions. Users can interact with creators and fellow viewers, creating a sense of community and facilitating discussions.
Impact on Pop Culture: YouTube has had a significant impact on popular culture, launching the careers of numerous influencers and content creators. It has given rise to internet sensations, viral videos, and internet challenges, shaping trends and memes that spread across social media platforms.
Educational Resource: YouTube serves as a valuable educational resource, with channels dedicated to providing tutorials, courses, lectures, and informative content. It has made learning more accessible and provides opportunities for self-improvement.
YouTube for Social Change: The platform has been used as a tool for social change and activism. Activists and organizations have utilized YouTube to raise awareness, share stories, and advocate for various causes, promoting dialogue and driving positive change.
Copyright and Content Moderation: YouTube faces challenges related to copyright infringement and content moderation. It employs sophisticated algorithms and human reviewers to detect and remove infringing or inappropriate content. However, striking the right balance between freedom of expression and maintaining a safe environment remains an ongoing challenge.
These facts showcase the significant impact YouTube has had on the way we consume and share video content, as well as its role in shaping the digital landscape and influencing popular culture.

Hey so remember how grocery prices suddenly jackknifed during lockdown and never went back down?
Well turns out the companies would have done that shit either way and had been steadily price-fixing for the last decade!
Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson just announced more than $40 million in court-ordained Fuck You money from massive swaths of food production companies are to be paid out to households earning at or below 175% of the federal poverty level ($25.5k for 1 person, $34.5k for 2 people households) before Dec 31st of this year. Happy Holidays.
youtube
"The bottom line here is that my legal team took on two large corporate price-fixing conspiracies that increased the cost for groceries for Washington families. We've prevailed, and as a result, we are sending checks to over 400,000 Washington households."
Cannot stress enough the extent of the conspiracies he's talking about here. 15 out of the total 19 chicken producers got nailed in this lawsuit. Not the total number of conspirators, mind, just the ones who left enough evidence for the AG to kick their ass in so expedient a manner. Make no mistake, all 19 were in on it. The court case against the rest of them has been delayed until October of next year, though. None of them are making it out unscathed.
Tuna didn't escape antitrust horseshit either, because the CEOs of Starkist, Chicken of the Sea, and Bumblebee Tuna had a fucking group chat where they complained that the price of tuna was "too low" and they agreed to artificially inflate the price.
“What’s so maddening about the conduct of these companies is the reason that they engaged in this price-fixing conspiracy was greed. They wanted to make money."
Tumblr media
So anyway the AG who nailed their asses to the wall and continues to do so is running for governor. If you live in Washington, could be worth your vote when primary season rolls around.

My goal for YouTube in 2023 was to start my new art channel by posting one video each month!
I succeeded as you can see! Not without some setbacks, but I was determined to see it through. As someone who used to (and still sometimes) gives up on things too easily, this was a big accomplishment for me!

i need well meaning cis people to stop attemping to steelman trans healthcare conversations because it basically always ends with them just lying about easily checkable things "no minors are getting irreversible treatments" wrong not true "no minors are having surgery" also false, like instead just say the truth: currently some minors (few, but some) are able to access hrt that will have some irreversible changes on their body, some (even fewer) minors are able to access surgery.
the counter to transphobes screaming "these kids are being irreversibly changed" isn't "no children are accessing this care" it's "puberty is also an irreversible change" and "i think under 18s and even under 16s should be able to make medical decisions actually"
"no minors are accessing this care" means that transphobes can easily point to the examples of minors who are accessing that care, which just make us look like liars. sometimes teenagers and children need to make medical choices on their own. i think a 14 y/o should be able to get an abortion. i think trans kids and teens should be able to have the approriate care, which for some will just be like, picking a new name or haircut, and for some, sure, could be surgery.

1. ‘We are just getting started’: the plastic-eating bacteria that could change the world
Tumblr media
In 2016, Japanese scientists Oda and Hiraga published their discovery of Ideonella sakaiensis, a bacterium capable of breaking down PET plastic into basic nutrients. This finding marked a shift in microbiology's perception, recognizing the potential of microbes to solve pressing environmental issues.
France's Carbios has successfully applied bacterial enzyme technology to recycle PET plastic waste into new plastic products, aligning with the French government's goal of fully recycling plastic packaging by 2025.

The organisation claimed that 128 people were diagnosed with HIV in Amsterdam in 2019, and since 2010, the number of new infections in the Dutch capital has fallen by 95 per cent.
3. Cheap and drinkable water from desalination is finally a reality
Tumblr media
In a groundbreaking endeavor, engineers from MIT and China have designed a passive solar desalination system aimed at converting seawater into drinkable water.
The concept, articulated in a study published in the journal Joule, harnesses the dual powers of the sun and the inherent properties of seawater, emulating the ocean’s “thermohaline” circulation on a smaller scale, to evaporate water and leave salt behind.
4. World’s 1st drug to regrow teeth enters clinical trials
Tumblr media

Toregem Biopharma is slated to begin clinical trials in July of next year after it succeeded growing new teeth in mice five years ago, the Japan Times reports.

7. ‘Staggering’ green growth gives hope for 1.5C, says global energy chief
Tumblr media
The prospects of the world staying within the 1.5C limit on global heating have brightened owing to the “staggering” growth of renewable energy and green investment in the past two years, the chief of the world’s energy watchdog has said.
Fatih Birol, the executive director of the International Energy Agency, and the world’s foremost energy economist, said much more needed to be done but that the rapid uptake of solar power and electric vehicles were encouraging.

youtube drama is very downplayed when it comes to its impact on tumblr (discussion of it usually ends as rapidly as it begins) so the fact that hbomberguy has been the top trending tag for several days now shows how much of an impact his video essay has made on the writing and video community as a whole. his video has spread so much awareness over the rampant plagiarism issue that has been festering under people’s radar for years now while dozens of youtube “creators” make six figure salaries off other peoples words and research. he effectively took off so many people’s rose tinted glasses and made us all blatantly aware of what an absolute shitshow this problem is now in modern media and how manipulated content has become
