3) and 4) are connected by the appearance of Gaston Phébus! 3 was taken from the library of Peter Dubrovsky during the Russian Revolution, who in turn took it from the French Revolution—which in turn makes me a bit more curious about the whole provenance thing. (Why do we have what we have? How?)
