December Nordskov - The Archivist

December is a character for a modern fantasy project I’ve had since about 2020! She is the subject of near constant brainrot so I’m putting some fun info about her here.

Where to begin about this bitch?! I usually present December as being in her late 20s into her 30s. She has the outward appearance of being very neat and put together. She’s known for being practical and irritable- totally a stereotypical introverted librarian.

December has winter magic! (No way, with a name like December?) It’s not terribly powerful, and how she was born with it is a very long story, but it’s not recommended she overuse it. She’s not immune to cold and might hurt herself if she uses her magic wrong.

December is also a mobility aid user. Generally she walks around with a cane and has a wheelchair at home in case her mobility needs change. Her body constantly producing magic ice causes health problems for her.

I’m always fleshing out the details of her disability! It’s changed a lot over the years, and it might change still.

“I’d sell your soul for one corn chip” type. December doesn’t usually enjoy people (she’s VERY selective) but she values information and knowledge. Struggles to give comfort to friends, but has been known to actually get close to tears over languages and resources being lost.

It’s not in my nature to give my characters super defined labels, but December is coded to be on the autism spectrum. (Fun fact, she’s one of the characters who made me realize this about myself).

December is half white witch and half human. What sort of high fantasy dnd nonsense is this? In the universe she lives in, there exist winter spirits called white witches, typically women who are born human and change into elemental beings of ice and snow as they age. December’s mom was a white witch and her dad is human.

She works in a magic library! December has been curating and preserving magical resources like books of magic and maps and whatnot for around five years. She’s the sole archivist at The Allcourt Palace, a small global center for magic resources. And I mean SMALL because magic folks have to be so decentralized to avoid discovery.

She has a degree in history and she loves research. Staying holed up in a library looking through old books and periodicals is literally the perfect job for her.

She lives in France! Not sure where though, but she is the token French girl. Her mom is Norwegian but she hasn’t seen her since she was young. (Lots of story there).

Forget what I said about labels for a second. She’s 💖💜💙 BISEXUAL 💖💜💙
