watching the entirety of jrwi: riptide again. here's some important things from the first few episodes that I feel we forgot (<110 mentions too though)

Jay

Had night terrors similar to those of Kubakinta's curse in episode 5, and they eventually start returning even after Loffinlot's curse is lifted ○ All of them were about her family and/or the navy ○ I simply think people leave her out of the nightmare stuff and she deserves it. Hurt her more, please (he said, lovingly)

was actually very upset at having to use her medal to get a Loffinlot rebellion to shut up ○ This could be because she didn't want them to guess she was a spy, but I choose to believe it's because she felt guilty

"If you're gonna be sailing with someone, you should have a good relationship with them. [nervous chuckle]." She says, while asking him for information about the Black Rose Pirates (ep. 10)

Said "thank god they didn't find me" after a nightmare about the navy attacking. Even when she was supposedly a spy, who one day would have to return to the navy ○ Very unclear if she was scared of her dad, or if it's because she was a secret spy so the navy would've just killed her

Rewatching, she was suspiciously into the plundering and gold and stuff. Like that was real sus. It doesn't fit her current character much

The entire thing literally starts off with Bizly holding a lit match

Called Gillion "Gill" and Jay "Sureshot" from an early stage

Was SO much more of a bastard. Lied to Gill constantly, didn't care about anything but the money, etc.

Had aggressive hand tremors alongside Jay's night terrors ○ Gill cures it with lay on hands

When he gets drunk married, they talk extensively about how he'd be released when he's dead. Welp.

They did actually break up and it was fine and they were still friends. They parted on good terms

Is really fucking good at chess ○ Beat Earl twice and Jay once. Jay had a point of exhaustion after a nightmare but Earl had no excuse ○ Lost to Gillion though, but only cause of prophetic screwup ○ This kid is smarter than he lets on, y'all

Was the first one to have a backstory dump while Jay is asking him about the Black Rose Pirates, yet still we know jack shit about his life before them other than "orphan"

Gill

Charlie has referred to Gillion with 'they' many times. I can pull receipts.

When describing Gill, Charlie said: "He's more.. elven, if you had to make a comparison. 'Cause I don't wanna be a fish guy". Oh, honey.

Smote a bald person by using his hair as a whip (ep. 4)

Was given anxiety and self-doubt alongside jay's night terrors and chip's tremors ○ "What do you want?" "I want the feeling of satisfaction I've been chasing my whole life." ○ This was episode FIVE.

First mention of the prophecy and how Gillion wasn't their ideal student is ep. 7, after he divine smites + prophetic screwups and deals like 60 damage to some beetles ○ Chip spends the next 30 seconds in gay awe

He refers to the crescent moon Niklaus tattoo as "my zodiac" (probably a bit) ○ It's not a lil basic white girl moon this thing is the entire size of his forearm

Gill had never heard about the Black Sea - it's unclear if the Undersea just don't know, or if that's just how sheltered he was (ep. 10)

Biz: "What would Gillion do. If he just had no goal - was just sitting there." "Gillion always has a goal." "Would his goal ever be to just.. Sit there?" Apple, in a couple of early battles, acted like Gill's familiar (see: ep. 7)

STUDY IN LOKI ROMANCE

Part 2: Breaking Brad

Since we're only a few days away from the last episode, I decided to COUNT DOWN everything we´ve got so far ( that can be interpreted very easily as romantic ) and discuss what the actual fuck is going on with second season. Because even though I shipped lokius practically from S1E2, I absolutely did NOT expect this kind of development. (Not that I´m complaining)

Warning: This is gonna be LONG post, lots of screenshots, lots of SPOILERS, lot of "oh-my-god-they-so-cute" language, and little bit of meta.

I originally thought that this post would be everything at once, but since I have just too many screenshots this time around, I´ll have to split it. so every post will be one episode. Color coding means:

IIIIIIIIII = anything, that coud potentialy be just acting choice.

IIIIIIIIII = everything else (tzn.: whatever was written, and/or carefully prepared by filmmakers. )

side note: I already wrote, about how amazing it is, that Mobius is unable to fight but fights anyway and how beautifuly, and ridiculously brave he is HERE. But this is about Loki/Mobius interactions, so I´ll try my best not to talk about THAT. (Even when I´m really happy, that s2 continues with this formula and Mobius is still his completely defenseless while aggressively brave self. I love him, btw.)

Okay, Check-list, ep 2:

Mobius opening up to Loki, and admiting he "lost it"

Loki trying to make him feel better and absolutely KILLING IT! btw, I know, that some people think, this scene doesn´t make sense, because Loki didn´t "lost it" during avengers, but was controlled by mind stone, etc.... well I think that it actually doesn´t matter. Guess what else doesn´t make sense? For example the fact, that they already talked about Loki fighting Avengers ( during their first meeting.) Loki is aware, that Mobius saw New York invasion at least twice now, and he´s telling him anyway. I would say, that point here is Loki trying to lift Mobius´s spirit, entertain him, make him smile. Why else woud he start his monolog by "remember, when...?" And I think, that this is huge, actually: Loki, using his bad memory, defeat, his humulianting experience to make Mobius feel better. So not only, that we see, he no longer care about being rurel but we see him making lightly fun of it FOR MOBIUS´S SAKE! He has different priorities now... our immortal god is a grown man now... it´s just so fucking beautiful... 🥺

Also Mobius saying to Loki: "come on, you´re the God of Mischief" Like it´s a best thing in the world, and Loki gives him THIS LOOK! (I mean that head tilt would be considered "acting" category, but I´m already making concessions by including all these things under one number :D

19) Loki and Mobius: mischievous duo

Mobius trusts him so completly!

They both such a drama queens!

And they works so well together!

Mysterious Lotus Casebook and the Analogies to Being Queer

this is not breaking new grounds or anything, there seems to be broad consensus in the (tumblr) fandom that LHL is a lot about being queer. there is also this brilliant meta by @seventh-fantasy about the jianghu being a queer space, which i love, and which dealt with the gender perspective for li lianhua in particular

having that in mind, i want to say how much i love that li lianhua and fang duobing's stories feel like analogies to two different queer experiences

we see li xiangyi in a few flashbacks and in how others viewed him before the east sea battle 10 years ago. we know he became the n°1 swordsman in the world, established a para-judiciary system and order in an otherwise lawless jianghu, that he used to duel just to win the right to pick flowers from someone's garden as gifts for every single lady in the sigu sect, and that he dated qiao wanmian and intended to marry her (judging by that flashback where he's seen drinking with shan gudao and the boys)

a lot of it is very heteronormative, and even a bit performative. and i don't want to say it's not genuine, i actually rly like the idea that many of those actions felt perfectly real to him at the time, and i genuinely think he had that show-off streak in him when he was a teenager

but regardless, everything about li xiangyi follows the heteronormative expectations of society, including his achievements, which command, among other things, admiration for his fighting prowess and his ability to establish rules. which is of course, ironic, as pointed out in the meta referenced above, since the jianghu itself does not follow those rules (and we slowly learn in the story that there was criticism of him for this even in-story).

but then we get to li lianhua, who does not fight, but cooks, learned to sew, to plant flowers, turns down every lady who looks his way, and who does not interfere in jiang hu matters if he can help it. and in particular, we get the conversation he has with qiao wanmian in ep 18, where she confronts him about his identity and asks him:

"if you'd already come back, why did you never reunite with us?"

and his reply is:

"all of this is so far in the past, now. i'm very tired. i just want to be free."

li lianhua is constantly put in contrast with li xiangyi. where li xiangyi performs, li lianhua just exists in the jianghu. where li xiangyi fulfils expectations and surpasses them, li lianhua turns his back to expectations. where li xiangyi establishes a domain and protects, li lianhua wanders freely, all by himself. where li xiangyi conforms to heteronormative standards, li lianhua doesn't.

we know that li lianhua is an unreliable narrator in that his opinion on his own past is biased, his knowledge incomplete. and he lies. almost compulsively. but there are also truth bombs that he drops between the lies. i personally believe that his willingness to detach himself from all the expectations thrown upon him and to finally exist away from norms, is part of those truths.

and this is very close to a type of queer experience, where you come out of some event or another in your twenties, suddenly realise you're queer and oh my god, it's time to live differently. and you start rejecting the norms and maybe your old friends wonder what got into you.

in the same conversation in ep 18, the following exchange happens between li lianhua and qiao wanmian:

LLH: "when we met each other, I was young and ignorant. I didn't understand what the feelings i felt for you were, either." QWM: "what do you mean? are you saying... you never loved me?" LLH: "back then, we were young. nothing of what we said then can still count now."

it can be interpreted in different ways, but it sure fits a queer narrative extremely well. the feelings were real, but he didn't understand whether they were romantic or not, he just followed the norms. but things are different now.

enters fang duobing

fang duobing feels like a different queer narrative. by family background, fang duobing is a person who has equal ties to the imperial court as he does to the jiang hu. the emperor and his family wants to engage him to the princess of the court, a perfectly normal thing in the societal context he lives in, and a luck few can hope to have. what does he do?

flee

i often joke that fang duobing's sexuality is to be a detective on the jianghu, but it really does feel like that kind of narrative. fang duobing never has any doubt that his place is away from the rules of the imperial court. In ep. 1, he tells his servants:

don't worry. once your young master makes a name for himself as a renown detective on the jianghu, they {his parents} will understand that, compared to the imperial court, i am much more suited for the jiang hu.

and yes, this is about escaping the rigidity of the court as such, but it's also analogous for the freedom to be who you are, to be queer, to not conform.

and fang duobing never backtracks. his parents want him to conform, and they want him to have the comfort that comes with this lifestyle. he rejects it thoroughly and consistently.

it's also interesting that in ep 25, once they meet the princess and they have gone through a case together, fang duobing still rejects the idea of the wedding. when li lianhua tells him "the jianghu is a place full of grudges and sinister schemes. why not become a carefree consort prince?"

fang duobing only looks forlorn and retorts "li lianhua, can you never say that again, please?"

in contrast, though, he has no qualms planning his whole life on the jianghu with li lianhua in ep. 15. so this is not about settling down with someone.

it feels very close to being confidently queer and knowing it from a very early age, and then rejecting the heteronormative expectations thrown upon you with assurance.

anyway, so what i want to say is: li lianhua is a tired millenial who discovered he was queer in his mid-twenties after a mild depression; fang duobing is a gen-z baby queer who doesn't know his queer history but is so confidently queer and he's never looking back

Finished.

God, what a glorious, glorious, glorious ride, a truly solid epic drama in a way I haven't seen in a very long time - there were two other flawless cdramas for me this year - Lost You Forever 1 and The Ingenuous One - but TIO was a smaller scale story and LYF ended in medias res. AJTL was the only complete, epic cdrama this year for me, but oh boy, was it beyond.

First, my two tiny niggles - this is a drama where the 40 episode limit fit badly, like tightly pinching shoes. You can tell how they had to speed and cram to get in the resolutions of dynastic struggles in An and Wu and the war with Beipan. This drama really needed to have been 50 eps. (The cramming also resulted in the sole plot arc that made me go huh - LTG random decision to try to marry Ruyi before he rides off to what he thinks is his last battle and his just as random decision to go "oh well" and agree to release NYZ and then when NYZ shows up before he can be released because he broke out and wreaks havoc, let them walk out. Maybe if they had more time, it would have made more sense, otherwise it felt like an aberration in a character arc that before and after was consistent and made sense.) Second niggle is not really one because it's clearly due to censorship - the last minute redemption of the Wu emperor etc - the writer made is as believable as she could but you could feel the censorship sticky hands all over it.

But those are minor complaints. Overall this was solid from beginning to end, very adult and with secondary characters who all felt real and complex and interesting. A few thoughts:

Our main OTP was incredible. So adult, so competent, so badass but still feeling human. I bought that those two were larger than life legends AND flesh and blood people. And that chemistry!

I loved that this drama allowed relationships to be messy. Yes, we have our epic main couple but I especially loved what happened with Chu Yue and Shisan and LTG and Ying. I loved that neither was an epic romance. With CY and Shisan, I loved that they didn't make him realize he loves her forever blah blah - he was an incredibly consistent character - charming, loyal and utterly clear he's incapable of permanent commitment to a single woman and she never could change that. And yet he died in large part to protect her, and it's in keeping with his character and it makes sense that this solidified her remembering him forever - he's not just the one who got away, but he DIED for her. It's very clear if they both lived, this would have gone nowhere and ended with him wandering off or her moving on wanting commitment from someone who is capable of it, but as it is, it froze the possibility of love in ember.

And I loved the narrative of LTG and Ying. They both come into marriage in love with someone they can never have (Ruyi and YL), they both have similar backgrounds (royals but neglected and looked down upon), they both share the same goals (power but to take care of people) and they really are friends. I love that when we last see them, they have what is a great period marriage - no love but respect and common goals. And she still mourns YL and he probably still thinks of Ruyi but the thing is, I love that the narrative leaves the possibility of them eventually falling in love with each other (or other people) because as she tells him - you think you will always love a particular person but life is long. (And it's so true - she will remember YL until she's old, once again in part because of the unfulfilled possibility of it - but it doesn't mean she won't be able to open her heart to someone again.) It's a surprisingly hopeful ending for them and I love it. I'd totally watch a show where they discover love with each other tbh.

I did love that no character (except possibly Prince Danyang) got everything they wanted even if they emerged alive. They got some and had to give up some.

I loved what it had to say about having to be worthy of your power and position - you are not owed fealty by birth but you have to earn it. It was a surprisingly anti-imperial show for a recent cdrama.

All the deaths of our faves gutted me, none as much as Yuan Lu's. Oooof.

As to the ending, I can tell people are gonna have fits but I like it. I love many an ending legendarily reviled in cdrama fandom (Princess Agents and Novoland Eagle Flag have perfect endings in my opinion; I realize that opinion, especially about PA is enough to get me throttled in certain quarters but it is what it is) and I came to cdramas back when pretty much every costume cdrama ended horrifically tragically - think of the endings of the Chinese Paladins, The Myth (for a long time my n1 drama even though it made me cry so hard I threw up, ending-wise), The Young Warriors, Little Fairy, even Lan Ling Wang, Glory of the Tang Dynasty and Bu Bu Jing Xin if we are going somewhat later. I mean, one of my favorite dramas ever is Royal Nirvana and that ending is like drinking a thermos full of depression. This is nothing.

Honestly, I would have been fine if the ending for our OTP really was them dying pretty much together, in their different battles. That hint that they are alive and living with their kids is lovely and welcome, but I'd have been fine without it and it raises a lot of questions (though if anyone could fake their deaths and survive that sort of thing, it would have been them so fair enough.)

Anyway, this is basically my love letter to this drama. It was amazing and I am so glad I watched it.

it was his first official day as a black bull, since he was a rookie he had plenty of chores to do. they weren’t all bad compared to what he did back at the church it was nothing. however he will admit that the laundry load was something that he wasn’t used to, the pile was bigger than he was. then again it beats waking up yami by miles.

as he washed the clothes he came across vanessa’s bra. he turned a bright red and slapped his cheeks to snap him out of his daze.

“the girls in this guild are beautiful…but they have nothing on sister lily!” he yelled to himself and got back to washing the clothes.

you leaned against the wall of the base and rose a brow “sister? like a woman of the cloth?” you went outside to check on him you knew how hefty laundry duty was, and you wanted to feel bad for him but honestly you were glad you didn’t have to do it anymore.

he immediately turned around when he heard your voice. you were recruited to the black bulls a year before he was but the two of you were around the same age. his eyes widened when he saw you, he remembered seeing you when he first joined the guild but he never got a good look at you. maybe he was wrong about the sister lily thing, as soon as he thought that he felt the heat rise to his face.

he nodded. his cheeks were dusted with a bright pink “uh yeah.” he scratched the back of his head slightly embarrassed. sister lily was the only one for him he was sure of it. but why were you making him feel so different?

you laughed. oh god he loved that sound.

“you know they can’t marry right? let alone date.”

he knew that. how was he supposed to say the moment this conversation someone else caught his eye. he never thought someone else would catch his eye and turn him away from sister lily. but you? he didn’t know what you were quite frankly he could care less he just knew that he really really liked you.

“i-” he cleared his throat to prevent himself from stammering “yeah. i knew that.”

you shrugged and sent him a wave over your shoulder as you walked back into the base.

suddenly sister lily was a close second. hell who was he kidding close wasn’t even the word.

'What happens to us when we die?'

'Oh my god, I'm going to die. I'm going to die!' 'Brother!' you cried out as you saw Osferth in Finan's arms. You rushed over to both men and saw how Osferth was coughing up blood.

'Please don't let me die, Finan,' Osferth cried. 'Osferth, no, stay with us!' you screamed at the sight of your brother, who had just been stabbed, 'Finan, do something!'

But you knew just like everyone else that nothing could be done anymore. You held your brother's hands as he took his last breath, and you felt Cynlaef's embrace when you all cried. You and Finan held each other for what felt like hours after the event, not willing to accept the loss.

'There is nothing we can do,' Cynlaef said quietly after a while, 'we have to keep moving. We have to reach Uhtred and Sihtric.' 'Oh, god,' you sighed, 'they don't even know about… about…' 'Osferth,' Finan said, and you both started crying again.

'Where is Osferth?' Sihtric asked, looking at Finan, then at Cynlaef and then at you.

You were still mounted upon your horses and the three of you looked pale and tired.

'Finan,' Uhtred said concerned, when no one answered, 'where is Osferth?'

Both their faces had dropped with fear and came closer.

'Your brother?' Sihtric asked as he looked up at you, but he already knew the answer when he saw tears escaping your eyes. 'He, O-Osferth…' you sobbed, and that was all you could bring out.

You felt Sihtric's hands gently wrap around your arms and he carefully pulled you down, off your horse, into his arms as you cried. Uhtred spoke with Finan and Cynlaef, but it was inaudible to you. You felt numb at the loss of your brother. Sihtric held you tight as you cried into his chest. He wanted to be strong for you, but you could tell by the slight shaking in his breathing that he was also crying. 

Sihtric had been so kind to your brother, always, right from the start. He helped Osferth crawl out of his shell, which did the same for you. They all had been nothing to kind to you and Osferth, after Uhtred had decided to let you both join his men. Finan and Uhtred felt like brothers to you, whereas your feelings for Sihtric had quickly become romantic, but you had always played it down. Osferth had known, you had no secrets for your brother, and he knew you always liked Sihtric. You cried harder at the thought of never having Osferth around anymore. Your brother would never witness you get married or have children. He would never celebrate another birthday with Sihtric and Finan, and you would never see both men carry a drunk Osferth home again. You even felt heartbroken at the fact you would never hear him throw up anymore, because he had too much ale after Sihtric and Finan riled him up.

Sihtric hushed you as you heard Uhtred speaking quietly with him.

'We have to move,' Uhtred spoke softly, you could hear in his voice that he had also been crying. 'I know,' Sihtric answered. His voice sounded deep as your face was still buried into his chest. 'Is she fit to ride her horse?' Uhtred asked.

You didn't hear Sihtric reply, but Uhtred suddenly placed his hand on your shoulder and gave you a squeeze.

'You'll ride with Sihtric, we'll take your horse,' Uhtred said softly and walked away.

Moments later you found yourself on Sihtric's horse as the lands passed you by. Sihtric had pulled you back against his chest, wrapping you within the cloak he had around his shoulders and he had one arm wrapped around your waist. His chin rested upon your shoulder the whole time and you felt him occasionally planting soft kisses onto your cheek. 

He couldn't play down his feelings for you anymore, which he had always done, just like you had. He knew you somewhat liked him, but he was too shy to act on it, which was the same problem you had. But now you were hurt and grieving and Sihtric wanted to show you he was there for you, even if he was grieving too.

'Osferth really looked up to you, you knew that?' you sniffled quietly. 'Hmm?' Sihtric hummed next to your ear, 'even though we got him drunk?'

You chuckled and Sihtric smiled softly at the sound of you.

'Yes,' you said, 'he loved being around you and Finan. And Uhtred of course. You all taught him so much, you taught me so much too. We never knew how to repay you all, for what you have done for us.' 'Repay us by staying alive,' Sihtric whispered after a moment of silence, and you felt his arm around your waist tighten, 'I won't be able to handle another loss.' 'I am not ready yet to leave this world, Sihtric,' you said and you felt yourself choke up again, 'and Osferth wasn't ready either. But I know he…' you sighed and tears escaped once more, 'I take comfort in knowing he died in Finan's arms, and not alone somewhere on the field during a battle.' 'He died in Finan's arms?' Sihtric asked.

You nodded, to which Sihtric took a deep breath and pulled you even closer against his chest. 'I'm sorry I wasn't there.'

'Actually,' you chuckled lightly, 'I'm glad you and Uhtred weren't there. I would have been afraid of the state the two of you would have been in. I mean… Finan, he… he became numb instantly, he froze, like me. But you and Uhtred probably would have turned to rage, taking out every last person who wasn't supposed to be there.' 'Probably,' Sihtric sighed and nuzzled your neck, 'but first I would have made sure you were safe.' 'I know,' you smiled, 'I know you always try to keep me safe.' 'Only try?' Sihtric asked. You couldn't see his face but you knew Shtric had an eyebrow raised now. 'And so far succeeded,' you rolled your eyes and smiled. 

You loved how Sihtric always made you feel better. It seemed effortless to him. Even after the tragic loss of your brother, he still made you smile.

'You know…' you started, then carefully reconsidered your words, 'Osferth was the only one who knew…' 'Knew what?' 'That… about… how…' Sihtric chuckled, 'just say it,' he whispered, knowing you were about to admit what he always wanted to hear. 'Osferth was the only one who knew how I felt about you... that I like you.' 'You told him that?' 'Yes… I, was it wrong of me, Sihtric?' 'No, no,' he shook his head, 'it's just…,' he sighed, 'he was the only one I told too.' 'What?' Sihtric shrugged, 'it happened when I was drunk once. But he never said anything about you.' 'And he never said anything about you either,' you scoffed, 'I can't believe this.' 'Classic Osferth,' Sihtric smiled. 'Truly,' you chuckled, but soon tears formed in your eyes again.

You both became silent and listened to the hooves of Sihtric's horse as the journey continued, until the sun began to set.

'We will make camp here,' Uhtred said as he got off his horse, as did Cynlaef and Finan.

Sihtric got off his horse before you and helped you down, you thanked him by planting a kiss on his cheek before you walked off to the stream of water you had seen moments earlier.

You crouched down and washed your face, still hoping this was all a nightmare and you would wake up, but it never happened. You sat near the water as you heard the men set up camp, not far away from you. You sat and watched the water for a while. You suddenly remembered all the times Osferth took you to look for pebbles when you were younger. He was your big brother and he was protective but also liked to tease you. He would tell you he saw a beautiful pebble in the water, making you look closer, and then as you leaned in to look where he was pointing at, Osferth would splatter water in your face. You couldn't help but smile at the memory as tears stung in your eyes.

When darkness had truly shown itself, you got up to walk to the camp that had been made.

Cynlaef had managed to catch a deer and was preparing the meat already, but you had little appetite. Finan had the same problem, and everyone noticed how awfully quiet he got. You knew he had seen how friendly you and Sihtric were during the day, and you expected he surely would have taunted you about it, but nothing ever came out of his mouth.

'Finan,' you said as you sat down next to him, making him look up at you. He gave you a weak smile, but his eyes told you how broken he was, and you embraced him.

'It wasn't your fault,' you whispered. 'I let him die,' Finan said quietly, and he choked on his words. 'No, no, you did not,' you hushed him as your voice trembled. 'He shouldn't have been there.' 'Finan, my brother was an oaf, yes, but he knew the risks. Always,' you said, trying to comfort him, 'and so did I. We have always been aware that one day we'd run out of luck.' 'Aye,' Finan said, 'but it should've been me.' 'Don't say that.'

Finan shrugged at your words. You gave him a firm hug before you got up and made way to Uhtred, who was talking with Sihtric.

'Uhtred,' you said and both men turned to face you, 'Uhtred, you need to keep an eye on Finan. He is not doing well.' Uhtred looked over your shoulder to Finan, then back at you, 'and are you doing well?'

His question took you by surprise. 

'I… I don't know,' you sighed as tears started to well in your eyes again.

Uhtred sighed sadly at the sight of your tears and Sihtric was quick to take your hand.

'Have you eaten yet?' Sihtric asked, to which you shook your head. 'Make sure to eat something, and then rest,' Uhtred told you, then he looked at Sihtric, 'make sure she eats. And she can sleep in my tent as I will keep watch tonight.' 'Yes, lord. I will make sure she eats, but she will sleep with me,' Sihtric said sternly.

Uhtred's eyes darted between the two of you and he was quick to understand what was going on.

'You two?' he asked, to which Sihtric pulled you into his arms. Uhtred slowly started to smile and shook his head, 'A pagan and a saxon. Did Osferth know?'

You both chuckled at his question and you told him how he had known you liked each other, but never told the other person about it.

'Classic Osferth,' Uhtred smiled as a tear escaped his eye. He patted Sihtric on his shoulder and made way to Finan.

Sihtric cupped your cheeks and kissed your forehead, 'you must eat something, my love, you need to gain some strength again.'

You knew he was right, so you forced yourself to eat at least some bites of the meat that Cynlaef had prepared. You watched how Uhtred and Cynlaef made sure Finan ate too, before Uhtred made way to guard the camp from a comfortable distance.

As the night grew darker and colder, Sihtric walked you to his tent. He covered you with his fur cloak and pulled you into his arms. Then he nuzzled his face into your neck and held you tight.

'At least,' Sihtric said softly when he heard you sniffle, 'at least your brother is in heaven now.' The words felt foreign to Sihtric, but he knew it was what you believed and accepted that, just like you never dismissed his believe in Valhalla.

'I'm not so sure,' you chuckled through your tears, 'you and Finan have made him sin more than once.'  Sihtric laughed, 'I do not know what you speak of, my love.' 'Sure,' you laughed too now. 'But if he is not in heaven, then I am sure he is in Valhalla. He earned his place there too.'

You turned around to look at Sihtric, who was quick to cup your cheeks and wipe away your remaining tears.

'Maybe,' you said, 'wherever he is, I just hope he is safe.' 'He will be safe,' Sihtric hushed you, 'otherwise we know Osferth will smite those who threaten him.' And you both couldn't help but laugh at the memory of Osferth telling some Danes he would smite them. 

You shook your head and looked up at Sihtric with a shy smile, who returned the same expression. His hands moved to the nape of your neck, pulling you closer and soon his lips found yours, locking you in a soft but firm kiss. 

You could curse your brother now for knowing all this time that Sihtric had liked you the same way as you liked him, and just never told you. You know Osferth approved of Sihtric, and he had often taunted you when he caught you staring at Sihtric, and you wondered why he had never said anything to either you or Sihtric. 

But in truth, Osferth had never told either of you because he enjoyed seeing the two of you being clumsy and shy around each other, and he knew that sooner or later one of you would yield and admit your true feelings for one another, and he was so eager for that day to come. But he would never be there to witness it, yet he was the reason why you and Sihtric both finally surrendered to your feelings.

'Sihtric,' you sighed as you broke the kiss. 'What is it, sweetling?' he smiled and leaned his forehead against yours. 'What will… when,' you mumbled, 'what will happen to us when we die?' 'What do you mean?' 'I mean… If… if I go to heaven…' you paused, looking up into his eyes. '... and I go to Valhalla,' Sihtric said quietly, then he sighed and closed his eyes, as you buried your face into his neck after he wrapped you in his arms.

I know basically everyone is disappointed by the lack of a kiss, the wedding, or a direct "I love you" and how safe they played it. But god, they could've played Sulemio so much safer and it was absolutely one of my biggest fears for the ending.

They could have tried to walk back the relationship almost entirely by having them go "Oh, now that the Holder system is gone, we can truly be friends without that forced engagement over our heads!"

They could have done almost the exact same ending. But Eri isn't with Miorine, and doesn't call her sister-in-law. Miorine goes to pick Suletta up at the field, but there are no rings, they're not as physically close, Eri and Miorine talk, but not as in-laws and Miorine just says "Let's go" to Suletta at the end.

They could have played it so safe and so ambiguous, like so many anime before them have, that we could have had another Atra & Kudelia situation again. Despite the polyamorous nature of their relationship with Mika (or perhaps because of it) and because their marriage was only confirmed after the show ended, many people refuse to acknowledge that they're a couple: they only got married for political/tax purposes and because of their promise Mika, but not because they could possibly have feelings for each other.

So yes, they played it safe. But they still committed to having a sapphic relationship be the center of the show. We saw them fall in love and change each other, push each other to be better. We saw Miorine confess to Suletta, with Suletta accepting her confession (Ep 11). We saw Suletta properly propose to Miorine, say she wants to ask her to stay be her side forever, and have a wedding with matching rings and dresses (Ep 17). And finally we saw them reunite after the break-up, with quite possibly the most passionate hand-holding ever, agreeing to spend their future together and moving forward with mutual trust and faith in one another (Ep 22). Maybe the words weren't the big, common romantic ones people expect, but these were scenes showing their love and affection for each other.

And they still committed to doing enough so that you know in the epilogue: they're married and they're in love. The show says they got married, they have their matching rings, they love each other greatly and they live together as a family with Eri and Elnora. And it had nothing to do with the Holder system. It had nothing to do with Suletta being naive. It had nothing to do with it being a teen romantic fling. It's been 3 years, and despite the hardships, they've only grown closer and more in love in that time.

Yeah, sure, I guess they left room for people to deny it? But I guarantee you 95% of those same people denying Sulemio today would still find a way to deny their relationship even with a kiss or a wedding. They'll always find a way to explain it away and deny gay relationships. And if you want to deny their relationship just because they didn't kiss or didn't say "I love you" on screen: romance is way more than a single act or set of words, and there are so many different ways to show two characters love each other than those two things.

So yes, Bandai played it safe. But the staff still committed to making it's first female MC a gay woman, still committed to make her romance a core part of the story, and still committed to making them a canon couple that was officially married at the end of the show. Even dedicated yuri anime never gets enough time to go that far.

This is the first ep of my new series, KEEPING UP WITH THE TR BOYS. Did I make it in an impulse again ? Yes.

Basically no episode would be attached to the other, they're like single separated stories, and the reader would probably be dating someone else in the next ep.

-" Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts, the plane is about to take off."

Most of the passengers frowned, watching the guy with blond and blue locks erupting in the plane, purple eyes traveling from one passenger to another until they found you.

Your words got caught in your throat as he shout your name, you glanced slightly at your father who already was rolling his eyes, and stood up.

-" Rin' ? What are you doing here?"

-" Look, I know... Oh shit " he took a deep breath, tired of running everywhere in the airport before passing a hand through his hair. " I know I said I'd be okay if you left for that university, but... I don't think I'm actually okay. "

You frowned and made a step toward him.

-" Rin, the plane is about-"

-" I don't care about the fucking plane ? Nor about the security I've just hit. I'm here cause... "

- " cause ? " You insisted, nearly twenty years of friendship and he still kept the words for himself in the worst moment. He bit his lower lip and said, fuck it.

-" Cause I only care about you. Remember that day I said you could date that highschool guy ? Well it was me who sent him to the hospital after he tried to kiss you-"

-" What the-"

Some days after :

-" I don't like this suit. " Rindou grumbled, adjusting the collar of his suit for the nthe time. " Feels like I'm wearing a giant condom. "

-" Well, that would mean you're a giant dick. " Kokonoi standing next to him answered. " Which is true."

-" Have. I correct you. I have a giant-"

-" can we like, be a little civilized? We're in god's house please. "

Both men threw a side eyed look at Kakucho standing in the middle of the aisle.

-" Man. You literally got your wedding officiant license online. "

-" yeah. On the laptop Ran uses to watch porn, chill bro. "

They ignored whatever thing Kakucho started mumbling and glanced in front of them, watching the guests sitting on the benches.

The front row places were mainly occupied by Mikey and Haruchiyo, both throwing death glares at everyone getting a little too near the buffet. Next to them sat Wakasa and Benkei, scowl on their faces.

-" it's a blasphemy for him , to marry people."

They turned toward the voice that just roared from the second row. Taiju was sitting there, arms crossed and gritted teeth.

-" I bet it's his first time entering a church. "

-" Who invited him ?" Manjiro deadpanned while chewing on one of the pastries that was supposed to be served after the ceremony, Haruchiyo shrugged.

-" Guess he just heard the word church, and poof, he was there. "

- " Aw, jus' like Waka' with the word pussy. " Benkei scoffed, earning a smirk from Haruchiyo.

-" Shut the fuck up. "

-" Why's he so bitter?" Haru gestured to Wakasa who just scolded.

-" more than usual, you mean ? Well I believe that's because he's thirty seven, attending the wedding of a boy nearly half his age. "

-" I'm not jealous " Wakasa frowned and turned toward his friend.

Well maybe was it just a little bit humiliating, maybe did he felt like the single old uncle in there, maybe did he even wondered slightly why did he never thought about getting married.

-" You said that, I didn't ".

-" Whatever. " He rolled his eyes. " Tsk, this wedding sucks, the groom sucks, and the bride... " His co-workers watched a smirk getting drawn on his features. " Might wanna know if she sucks- "

-" She's nineteen. "

-" Shit, yeah, this wedding sucks. "

-" Besides " they all turned to Mikey, surprised he even talked. " I don't see a ring on your finger either, Benkei. "

The latter winced slightly, while a smirk crept up on Wakasa's lips.

-" yeah, we might be getting old. "

-" You're getting old" Wakasa, again. " I'm aging like fine wine. "

-" Oh yeah, so you're telling me this hairstyle isn't screaming midlife crisis ?"

-" Funny you're talking about hair when you have none. "

-" Where are the other guests anyway ?" Benkei rolled his eyes eyeing the almost empty church, his friend shrugged.

-" There's none ? Nobody likes him, pathetic."

-" No, you know what actually ?" Sanzu leaned in to whisper toward them, earning their attention. " I heard the bride's father's not really into Haitani, nor into delinquents. Her family might not be attending. "

Their expressions turned from bored to suddenly more interested, yes yes, even Wakasa's.

-" So you're telling me, she's cutting off her family for that boy " Benkei pointed at Rindou, shuffling with his necktie.

-" I swear this youth... Seriously, all of this for Haitani ?" Wakasa pointed, just before Taiju who was sitting right behind them stood up to change his seat.

-" I didn't signed up for a seat behind the desperate housewives. "

-" Who invited him again ?"

Just as Mikey asked again, Shion bursted running in front of them, hair slightly messy and shirt disheveled.

-" What the hell-"

-" Okay guys, so hello " he goofily smiled. " Um, just wanted to ask, like it's totally a random question. But , haven't you seen like, by any chance, a velvet red box randomly laying down somewhere ? Again, it's totally random-"

-" I'm begging to any god up there " Wakasa threw his head back desperately. " Or to any flying train to take my fucking sool "

-" don't tell me, you actually lost the wedding rings ?" Benkei's voice dropped, making the blond wince.

-" Okay, I won't tell you I actually lost the wedding rings... "

One, two, three seconds of looking at each other dead in the eyes were enough for them to understand.

-" Oh shit... "

-" This shit's getting more and more interesting, I like " Haru smirked and Manjiro nodded.

-" Yeah, we need more pastries. Go ".

Almost at the back of the room, stood the groom's brother throwing a disdainful look at Mitsuya who had just arrived.

-" I don't remember inviting you. " He crossed his arms and honestly regretted he didn't thought about bringing his baton.

-" I came to see my work on the lovely bride." Mitsuya replied, completely unimpressed while deciding of which seat to take, he smirked when he caught sight of Taiju and decided to head there before he was interrupted by Ran.

-" the lovely bride who's a Haitani now, careful, fucker. And besides, I thought you didn't want to make the dress ?"

Takashi rolled his eyes and bored them into his forever opponent. -" I didn't do it two weeks ago when you threatened me to kidnap my sisters, I did it for her, because she deserves a dress as pretty as her. At least, with the groom the poor girl got herself. "

Though he whispered the last part, Ran heard it perfectly and balled his fists, ready to fight but soon, the first notes of the music started playing in the background, and he was forced to join his brother quickly.

And with every inches of you his eyes roam, Rindou understood why kings fought wars, what poets spent their lives trying to word out. In that mind-blowing white dress, where each curve and each edge of you was a work of art, then his eyes met yours, halfway holding your brother's arm as he walked you down the aisle, and it was the first time he'd ever felt such a painful heat in his chest.

He found your eyes, and yes he found it. The beat that been missing on the songs he used to mix, the beat that been missing everytime his heart jumps... He found it in the shy smile you gave, the feelings he had for his best friend, that he's been burying for years. And like an angel, you walked to him, crept up inside the deepest corners of his heart like you owned the place.

Yes, Rindou Haitani, the delinquent, the Roppongi ruler, was left speechless.

-" Hi you " his deep voice whispered under the dying music, and you could've got lost in the way his eyes were drinking on you. " Y'look like a damn dream ".

-" And I like this suit on you " you replied back, before Kakucho started his speech.

Being there, in front of Tokyo's biggest delinquents getting married to Haitani Rindou with just your brother and your bridesmaids as guests wasn't the way you exactly imagined your wedding day.

But, you would've never imagined Rindou would actually confess with a wedding ring, begging you to not leave the country for the university your father wanted you to attend.

It was not extravagant, nor a perfect fairytale with white doves and horses.

It was real, true, like the love both of you shared. Rindou loved you in shades of wrong, he loved you in hidden stares and thoughtful nights. Loved you in knuckles getting bloody for you, in songs being secretly written for you that only the fireplace would ever read.

It was young, just as all the guests. Just as the first time you met him.

It was fast, unlike the way Rindou confessed his love after years of being your " best friend ".

But isn't it where you find raw, real love ? At airports, at hospitals, cemeteries, and half empty churches ?

Through the whole speech of Kakucho, Rindou's eyes never left yours. A knot forming in his throat, why did his heart felt suddenly so full realizing you were there, all in white for him ? He acknowledged he didn't deserved this, or you. But in that small church, next to his forever ride or die, Ran, in front of his partners in crime, he was yearning to none but to hold you, like an oath, like a promise.

It was his turn to utter his vows now, he already knew he wouldn't be as good with words as you had been with your vows, making him feel like fucking you there in front of everyone. He took a deep breath and glanced at his brother quickly for some comfort before looking back at you.

-" I know I'm supposed to say I promise to honor you, and to obey you. But we both know I won't, you perfectly know I won't hesitate to fuck the insolence outta you whenever you start acting like a brat. "

- " Honestly I could've made it 'til the end of my life without this info" Wakasa interrupted before being shushed by Kakucho.

-" and I know I always say you got a stupid face, but that's the actual stupid face keepin' a fucker like me up at night, thinking about ways to make you smile again. "

Your heart missed a beat, watching your best friend struggling with his words, tugging at his hair, biting his lips, but his eyes on yours have never been this true...

-" Why is the box wet ?" Ran raised an eyebrow, taking it from his hands and Shion rolled his eyes.

-" why's this, why's that, life is not always about knowing , you know that Haitani ?"

Ran stared blankly at him for what seemed like seconds, before he shook his head and dismissed him, handing the small velvet box to his brother.

-" Should anyone present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace. "

Silence took over the whole room, Kakucho's lips curled in a smile, ready to announce both of you married.

But the door flew open and the loud thud startled all of you to look toward the man bursting in.

-" It's me !"

-" Oh shit... "

-" See ? I told you this wedding's gonna be fun ".

-" Hold the rings a sec, bro. Gonna rip his fucking throat " Rindou began rolling up his sleeves, ready to beat Hanma to death before the latter tilted his head to the side curiously.

-" why's everyone looking at me ? Got something on my face ?"

-" Other than your usual ugliness, you mean ? Oh nothing more than objecting at the fucking wedding !" Mitsuya talked for the first time, rolling his eyes.

Shuji seemed to process the words in his head for some seconds, before he suddenly burst out in an uncontrollable laughter that got everyone even more mad.

-" Don't fucking hold me ! Lemme get him !" Rindou struggled in Kakucho's arms, before Hanma finally stopped, or not, laughing and grinned at him.

-" Man, I don't plan on stealing ya girl " his eyes drifted toward you before his grin fell, and he seemed to think for some seconds. " Or maybe I am ? Yeah, someday... But that's a problem for another day. I just attended the wrong party, dude. "

As confusion rose between the small crowd at how he could have possibly attended the wrong party , he found himself a seat next to his co-workers and Manjiro raised an eyebrow at him seeing what he got in his hands.

-" From where did you got the cake ?"

Hanma grinned before answering.

-" Oh, this ? I actually attended a birthday party, believe it or not the kids there gave me all their cakes. And they, strangely called me... Slenderman? Yeah kids are nice ".

- " the most surprising thing is that you, Hanma Shuji, were actually able to cross the church's threshold. "

-" Dude that's not funny. Besides, yeah I was surprised too? "

-" So ! What I was saying before getting interrupted - for the millionth time- was that..."

Kakucho smirked slightly, uttering your name and making your heart beat faster.

-" ... And Rindou Haitani, I now announce you... Husband and wife, you may-"

-" fucking finally " Rindou grunt, pulling you by the wrist and in a split second, you're caught in the whirlwind of Rindou Haitani's lips moving against yours, cheers and dirty words of his friends getting muffled by his hands on your waist, pulling you closer to him.

-" Okay, enough guys... Keep some for tonight, we don't have to see it all... "

-" Well I wouldn't mind... "

-" So Ran " Mochi's hand teasingly wrapped around Ran's shoulder. " How's it feels knowing your brother will turn to a man tonight ?"

-" I'd be a fool to think my brother is a virgin " he rolled his eyes, his words catching a certain Taiju's attention. " Walls are pretty thin where we live and the bride's kinda vocal".

-" Lord, have mercy on this corrupted youth... "

And as everyone started gathering around the buffet, yes, yes Mikey was in the front raw, Koko who was proudly holding his perfectly wrapped up present frowned, searching in the room for something.

-" Ran, where's Rin? Where's the bride... ?"

Somewhere, in the darkest, holiest corner of a church, between the sacred walls a worshipper was on his knees for his goddess, drawing angelic sounds from her mouth whilst his hands caressed every inch of that body he adored so.

you were just trying out the dress for your friend who was currently on the other side of the world, but now… you don’t want to be out of it. you just want to be in it. all the damn time.

it didn’t help either when your roommate that came with you rented a dress because she wants to be in one as well. so, now, here you two are being sad, but it wasn’t really obvious because the apartment was filled with laughter as you two play catch.

…with a bouquet.

oh, by the way, it wasn’t just a simple dress. it’s a wedding dress.

so now, here you two are in the coffee shop, staring at nothing in particular. you were leaning your cheek against your palm as you sigh. you were bored. you and your friend hated your clothes now. you two just wanted to be in those wedding dresses.

“it’s okay.” you softly say, standing up as you turn around to him, kneeling on the couch to face him. “don’t you have work?” you ask, hand on his wrist as you look at his watch.

“yeah,” jay says. “i’m just getting coffee.” he says and you nod. “by the way, i’ll swing by your apartment later. i left my files there the other day.” he says and you nod. 

“i’ll see you. bye, honey.” you say and jay kisses your lips, going to the counter to get his coffee. he passes by you again, pressing a kiss on your forehead before leaving.

yeah, you have a boyfriend. no, you weren’t rushing into marriage.

but jay said from the very start, he doesn’t want to get married. ever.

you don’t even know why you still said yes to being his girlfriend.

“maybe he changed his mind?” your friend says and you look at her. you sigh, plopping on the couch.

“it’s been five years since we started dating. he never wants to talk about the future.” you say.

was it wrong that you just wanted to know if he sees a future with you? you already know the answer, anyway.

when you and your friend decide to go to your apartment, you see your roommate who is also your best friend with a gloomy expression on her face. “what’s the matter?” you softly ask.

“he broke it off with me.” she softly says and you frown, going to her to hug her as your other friend did the same. you both comforted your roommate, patting her on the back. then, you two catch each other’s eyes. 

“hey, want to cheer up?” she asks and your roommate looks at the two of you.

after playing catch with a bouquet, you three sat on your couch with a bottle of alcoholic drinks in your hands as you three watched movies.

“this really does put me in a good mood.” your roommate says and you smile. “how sad are we?”

“very sad.” you answer and the two laugh. 

then, a knock comes.

“fuck,” you curse, standing up as you look at the door. “that’s jay. he’s going to get his files.”

“oh, let’s scare him.” your roommate says, standing up to go to the door.

“no, no, no. he’s going to freak out!” you say as you struggle to grab the zipper on your back.

“it’s just a prank.” she says, chuckling as she gets to the door. she opens the door, it flies open as she holds her arms out and jokingly says, “i do!”

jay eyes your roommate weirdly, eyeing her up and down. “what the fuck?” he says and your roommate laughs. “where’s y/n? i told her—” he stops his sentence when he sees you. fuck, fuck, fuck. he’s going to breakup with you, isn’t he? jay softly pushes your friend to the side, slowly walking towards you.

jay eyes you from head to toe, no expression. 

but you were shit scared.

when he stops in front of you, you start to ramble. “okay, i know you said you never want a wedding, you’re never getting married. i was just trying it on for my friend who isn’t here because we’re the same size. and i just… i don’t know, i was being sad and pathetic, thinking this might be the only chance i get to wear a wedding dress. just… go ahead and yell at me.” 

jay only stares right into your eyes for a solid minute.

“...you’re beautiful.”

you look at him, eyes slightly widening as your hands come up to cover to your mouth.

“you’re throwing that out, though.” jay says and your hands fall on your sides, frowning.

“don’t worry,” you softly say, disappointment evident in your voice. “it’s not even mine.”

my god, it’s not even yours.

“good.” jay says, grabbing his folder. he opens it, going through it to see if it were the files he needed, then he looks up to you. “it’s bad luck for the groom to see his bride in her wedding dress.”

you softly smile and jay taps his finger under your chin.

STUDY IN LOKI ROMANCE

Part 6: Conclusion

Since we're only a few days away from the last episode, I decided to COUNT DOWN everything we´ve got so far ( that can be interpreted very easily as romantic ) and discuss what the actual fuck is going on with second season. Because even though I shipped lokius practically from S1E2, I absolutely did NOT expect this kind of development. (Not that I´m complaining)

Warning: This is gonna be LONG post, lots of screenshots, lots of SPOILERS, lot of "oh-my-god-they-so-cute" language, and little bit of meta.

I originally thought that this post would be everything at once, but since I have just too many screenshots this time around, I´ll have to split it. so every post will be one episode. Color coding means:

IIIIIIIIII = anything, that coud potentialy be just acting choice.

IIIIIIIIII = everything else (tzn.: whatever was written, and/or carefully prepared by filmmakers. )

side note: I already wrote, about how amazing it is, that Mobius is unable to fight but fights anyway and how beautifuly, and ridiculously brave he is HERE. But this is about Loki/Mobius interactions, so I´ll try my best not to talk about THAT. (Even when I´m really happy, that s2 continues with this formula and Mobius is still his completely defenseless while aggressively brave self. I love him, btw.) Here is count down for every episode:

Sooooo 51 lokius moments, that were completely and utterly unexpected, but yet here they are. Why? Let´s start with over look at what we´ve actualy got: Things that could technically be just acting choices and Tom´s and Owen´s chemistry together:

So... let´s scrap the theory, that romantic tention is created only by chemistry between actors (though it IS amazing and also key ingredient) and their acting choices. Because so far, screenplay, and cinematography was supporting their story as well. I feel, like I should clarify, that I do not expect Lokius kiss, or blatant confirmation to happen. I was here during Johnlock debacle. And I was here, when Destiel ended... the way it ended. And I refuse to put in creators (especially when it comes to marvel/disney) any hope, that I know can be crushed so very easily. I´m not doing this shit again. If it happens? WOW! I´m gonna be surprised. very pleasantly surprised. I will litteraly never shut up about it

But I do not expect it. Not even now, when I saw, what are creators of Loki able to put out in the world. Like this for example:

And yeah, I am avare, Loki officialy CAN have male love interest, because it was confirmed in a text, that he´s a bi.

Also there was this (very misleading) article few years ago:

Still. I can´t bring myself to hope for anything explicit. But I absolutely understand anyone, who have that hope. And I know, how great feeling it is, while it lasts. Anyway. I´m gonna look at all possible options, I can think of. Even some, I feel, are more possible then others. And maybe answer is not just one. It could be more things at once.

Explanation number one: Creators took notes on how season 1 was received. And they saw, that Mobius is very popular, well-liked character, his interactions with Loki were favorite moments according to majority of an audience, and decided to lean more into that, for viewer´s sake.

Same with sylvie. Once they saw her romantic relationship with Loki isn´t that popular, they decided to give her her own agency, own story instead.

Explanation number two: They genuinely think, they are showing deep friendship between two bros and nothing more. I mean... Loki getting close circle of friends and wanting to stay with them is a one of the bigest themes this season. They are trying to make a point about Loki changing bacause of them (and probably making sacrifice for them) But there is still very intentional difference between his relationship with Mobius and everybody else. Mobius is obviously the most important one of the bunch.

Explanation number three:

Creators want romantic scene with Sylvie and Loki to be big surprise at the end, so they tried to show as much problems and conflicts between them, as they could and limited their screentime together.

But I personaly think, this would be stupid for many reasons:

Making Mobius and Loki focus this season caused people to rooth for them, and be invested in their relationship more.

They showed multiple times, that Sylvie wants from life very different things, then Loki and their philosophical views differ greatly.

It doesn´t look like creators put enough effort into building up this kind of ending to be satisfying. It would just feel like they´re trying to surprise / shock audience. Explanation number four: They think that what they are doing with Mobius and Loki is father/son dynamic. (I´m sorry, but this would be just hilarious. If this is the case, I would love to know, what they were thinking, when they decided to leave Owen´s line: "You´re just a little pussycat" in there. Or when they look at all those acting choices and said YES, THANK YOU. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED.)

Explanation number five: They´re queerbaiting the hell out of us. And their master plan is to make us all watch and having hope and then they will throw in the finale some last minute no homo explanation and wil laugh in our faces.

(I suppose I don't have to say how much I like this option *sarcasm*)

Explanation number six:

Creators would like to make Lokius canon, but they are restricted / they´re not allowed to. So they decided to go as far, as they can. To give us little (big) nods, to give us those beutiful scenes. To double down on everything lokius related. And they know what they can get away with before casual viewers notice that there is something gay happening. (I mean... it looks like they can get away with anything but kiss at this point :D Like seriously. I saw people talking about how beautiful Dean and Castiel´s friendship was EVEN after finale, so...)

Explanation number seven:

They are doing Love triangle thing, where they will try ultimitely "please everyone" by giving us some scene that could be potentialy seen as romantic between Loki and Sylvie AND between Loki and Mobius (while leaving it for interpretation) In Czech republic, we call it: "when the wolf ate well, but goat is still alive."

Explanation number eight: They ARE able to make Lokius canon, but they actually like podtext more, then posibility to make it transparent, and that is just the way, they want to tell this story.

Explanation number nine: They were planning to make Lokius a thing (if not from the start, then after season one) and they made whole season this way, so more people would rooth for them. And it will end with some form of confirmation of their love story. ( as I mentioned above, I can´t see this happening, but that is my bad experience talking. If it happens, I deffinitely won´t be mad about being wrong here, I can promise you that :D )

I gues we will know more about their intent after episode 6. Right now, I´m actually just hoping, that story will stay consistent as much as it can. And characters won´t die. On the contrary I hope, they will end up happy, because they did earn it. I have to say, that I enjoyed this season even more then the first. And I really do hope, that finale wont make me change my mind. Regardles of intention, this show is high quality and it is obvious how much care was poured into every aspect of this season from effects, cinematography, costums, sets, music, acting... I think, that this show is a best thing marvel did in a long, LONG time.

Also please, pleaseeee let this season end at the place, where it will be possible to see Loki and Mobius in other MCU project (I would honestly watch anything, where they appear together)

And lastly: If it doesn´t end the way you wanted, please please don´t let anger to rule your actions. Do criticize as much as you want, but please don´t harrass anybody. At the end of the day, creators of this show are also just people. Don´t say anything, you wouldn´t say into their faces. If it will end badly, watch your favourite, comfort gay show, celebrate how much Lokius fix-it fanfiction we´ll have! And how much art already exists because of those first five episodes.

Or take that frustration and turn it to motivation: maybe you can create something better!

Please just don´t let TV show ruin your whole year and your creativity.

Thoughts on s3 ep 13!

fucking hell ya'll,, we're almost at the end of this and I simply can't believe it and don't want to believe it simply because I don't want it to end and I don't see how the fuck they're going to tie up all the loose ends in just the next two episodes.

This time around I recorded my reactions to it and it was a lot of yelling and making really weird noises,, but uh, y'know the drill!
