-ASJFNJDFK, we’ve grown so close to Cyno over time, he’s so soft compared to when we first met him, he calls us friends, he invites us along, I cry. I remember thinking in his first quest, “We’ll win you over, we’ll win you over,” and now look at us :”).

-The fact that that man raised Cyno is hilarious to me. Their vibes are so different, it’s delightful.

-ASDKNDFS, “Bring Tighnari along too.” CYRUS!! Feed me, Cyrus!! The parental figure approves!!

-The fam is eating with Cyrus, I cry. Also, wdym they were both students together, you’re blurring the timeline again, argh!

-Kaveh!!

-Yes, we have some “us time” with Cyno, Tighnari and Collei, ily. Wtf is happening, they’re taking us camping?? Hoyo, you feed me so well!

-We’re all so happy, are we gonna get murdered or something

-I can’t believe we’re seeing Cyno jokes in an actual quest and not just in events, is this real?! Are we really getting soft Cyno, soft Cynonari, what is this, is this reality?! I’m so happy!

-Ahahaha, “it looks like we’ll get told off” and Tighnari’s face omg, I love this fam.

-Dude, this is so fun. And Hoyo knows exactly what they’re doing with the “three tents,” you can’t change my mind. Who shares?

-Cyno smiles at us, my heart, I cannot (*Cyno smiles a lot in this quest :’))))

-Kaveh and Alhaitham. Hoyo knows. 

-Everyone’s so domestic, thank you Hoyo, thank you. Kaveh and Alhaitham actually having calm conversations, calmly living together and putting their minds together, Kaveh sitting on the table, it’s so nice.

-Cyno: “Don’t come after me.” Literally everyone: “Yeah, so, anyway, how do we find him?” <333 Like, they don't even discuss if they should, Kaveh just goes "typical Cyno" and they move to action. What a great little extended fam, Cynonari, Collei, Kaveh and Alhaitham (and later Candace and Dehya, and Faruzan. What a great little found fam).

-Tighnari is coming to the desert himself??? For Cyno??? I cry. (Yeah yeah and for Cyrus. Would he be coming along if Cyno wasn’t involved? I don’t think so.)

-We’re meeting Naphis!!! What is this blessing of a quest!

-Like, I love intrigue and mystery and so on, but our bonds in Sumeru are just so pure and precious to me. This clear-cut “We’re transparent, we have each others’ back, and that’s that” of the Sumeru cast, I love it. And I love that it’s an ensemble cast quest, it’s so long since we’ve seen everyone together.

-Like, Tighnari could leave this to us, or to Kaveh, but no, absolutely not, he wants to PERSONALLY be with Cyno in this, like??? Tighnari ily???

-Sethos!!! Hi, bb, whoever you are <3.

-Sethos is a medium model, right? He looks so much smaller than Aether, Cyno and Tighnari. Younger even, even though he’s around the latter two’s age.

-I love that Cyno and Tighnari are equally clueless and are learning about Cyno’s past together. I always wondered - is the Temple of Silence thing something that Cyno hides? Does Tighnari know? Why do his character stories say so little on that, is it a secret? Turns out no, he’s just as clueless as everyone.

-Cyno’s parents essentially sold him…??? Huh?! I wasn’t expecting that!!!

-No, you didn’t borrow the Ba Fragment “for a decade or so,” Cyrus, don’t blur the timeline ffs! Unless we’re talking until Cyno became of age or something, or unless that "or so" is a big understatement.

-Everyone is tense and dramatic and “power this, fragment that” and Tighnari is like, “Sumanai, but u dumb.”

-Doctor Tighnari strikes again!

-Such a beautiful temple and it’ll just disappear after the quest?

-Lmfao, what is that pose before the duel, are we “the challengers” preparing to drop an album ahahaha

-Oh eff off, Cyno saying “I am more than a warrior. I am my own person,” and cutting to Tighnari saying “...Exactly”. That was SO UNNECESSARY! HOYO YOU FEED ME WELL

-Looove how Cyno won via polearm and not via Hermanubis or vision. Also lil Sethos is one of those multi-weapon users, huh

-Oh that’s such a nice conclusion, Cyno and Sethos not being enemies and now the Academiya and the Temple can be partners again. I like Sethos, I'm looking forward to us seeing him again and him making connections in Sumeru. Hopefully we'll get a hang-out next patch?

-Lol, Sethos granting us access to the Temple, catch Alhaitham moving in here smh

Like, Hoyo didn’t have to go that hard on the intimacy of it all AND YET! THEY DELIVERED! Also, pls, the timeline, wdym you were in school with Cyno when in Tighnari’s stories it says that student Tighnari attracted the attention of General Mahamatra Cyno, omggggg. Unless you’re saying that Cyno was simultaneously a student and the General Mahamatra at some point, OR that Cyno had the General Mahamatra mentality as a student and conducted his own investigations.

-I’ve seen too much fanart to believe that you’ll just “put the books back” in the House of Daena, Kaveh and Alhaitham. I know exactly what you’re gonna do there. We all know. -CYNO HAS A SECRET PLACE AND TIGHNARI KNOWS IT AND NOW WE KNOW IT THIS QUEST IS SO SOFT ASKJSFDNK

I think I am genuinely sick about Your Fantasy Masks au.

i've read great fics before (hell, pnpt and Septic heros are some of my top fics ever) but i am so not normal about FM.

Unfortanetly It's not possible for me to convey how much I love a 200k word fic (and still going!!!) by discussing each chapter, but GOD. This fic rocks.

The dynamics you build between the characters and the interactions they have are just fantasitc. I like how (in all your fics but especially FM) you give time for bonding scenes and let the reader see how the characters bond together.

Marvin, Jackie and Henrik are awesome. I adore their backstory and just the 3 of them together are so fun to read. Jackie and Marvin teasing Henrik over Vsevna is wonderful (!!!!They're courting!! <- is that the right word?)

Side note: One of my favourite scenes (or scene that has stuck with me) Is Jackie and Marvin apologising to each other. He did a shit job at it but I'm glad that they forgave each other

Jameson!! I like how he joined the main cast by being yoinked by Chase. I feel bad for him -being trapped by the king could not of been a fun experience. But! I like how you've developed his character. In the beginning he was very scared (rightfully so) and doubted he could do anything. Now in latter chapters, he's learning how to be his own person again after being stuck with the king + starting to be brave (my mind immediately goes to hiding the masks under the floor and trying to shield his mind from The king).

And Chase!! He's such a good character I love him. First: Him and his family <333 We don't see much of them but I love them (also Stacia!! She very cool. Can't wait to see Chase (hopefully) reunite with them after they've stopped being enchanted the the enchanter. And Amy and Quinten!! Can't wait to see more of them). I also like how Chase just knows a lot of stories (that end up being relevant to figuring stuff out). I just think it's really cool.

And the king/Jack??? Oh no he's locked in a well. So the king is being possesed?? thats so cool. I can't wait to see how the plot progresses and if Jameson's oracle about Chase will come true.

On a final note, I just really love the masks. Your world building for this Au is insane but I just really like the masks. I like how everyone gets to choose an animal and the symbols that represent the roles.

Okay that's only the main(ish) characters but I need to finish this ask off otherwise I might just start screaming and stop making any sense.

I've been constantly rotating this fic my head these past 3 days as I've read it, so thank you for writing it. It's fantastic and I love it a lot :D Not sure which fic of yours I'll read next, probably Horror Septics or Switch Au.

Yayyy I’m so glad you’re liking it! :D You do have an uncanny ability to send me asks when I’m busy XD but I’ll try to address everything you said. I’m so happy that you’re liking the characters! The scene with Jackie and Marvin making up was one of my favorites to write. It’s not often that you see something like “person messes up an apology at first” in writing so I wanted to include that. And yes, the others teasing Henrik for courting Vsevna is one of my favorite running jokes. I also love Jameson’s slow character development and Chase’s love for others. And yep, Jack is the true King but he’s being possessed—the spirit has been the villain of the story the whole time! Anyway, I’m happy you’re enjoying my stuff ^-^ If you’re gonna read more I’d be delighted :D

one day I’ll find a local friend who’ll play this theme for me in the cathedral at nightfall. until then I refuse to die

That theme is so so beautiful, the way the strings and that woodwind gets added to the creepily calm beginning theme is so *screams* AND THAT POWERFUL ENTRANCE OF THE ORGAN.

OH MY GOD THE ORGAN. I adore its timbre, I keep returning to Bach’s Passacaglia whenever I desire to hear the instrument (the part between 06.23 and 07.26 ELEVATES my soul to heaven) and the way Zimmer uses it is always so SHXNSXS. AND I thought I was the only freak that kept listening to church organ arrangements of stuff HAHAHAHA omg. That’s honestly SO impressive, gives me instant goosebumps, just wow. With every church organ video, I get more and more encouraged to learn how to play it, but the foot part seems so intimidating aahjsncs it’s already so demanding to manage the pedals while playing the piano. But ANYWAYS, UGH thank you so much for this, I’m delighted that these were the first things I listened to when I woke up <333

In the seventh year, the final year at Hogwarts, most students are focused on their grades, how they will pass their OWLs, and what job they would like to pursue. On the other hand, you were focused on the next novel you wanted to read. Sitting in front of the fireplace, looking over the list of books Madam Pince had given you.

Your eyes examined the page; each book's title caught your curiosity, but which one should you pick? You were so absorbed in the list that you didn't notice the common room door opening and closing, and in walked a year-old lad with black hair.

As he sat down next to you on the couch, he asked, "Whatcha doing?" "I'm looking for a novel to read," you said, your gaze fixed on the words on the page.

"I have an even better thing to do," he added, shifting your gaze from the paper to Sirius, his brown eyes gleaming with excitement. "And what is it?" you asked, setting the paper on the table.

"Okay, so there's a hidden chamber in the Ministry of Magic that keeps track of which wizards use which spells and when," Sirius explained, you raised an eyebrow "That was something I already knew "you said, "Let's imagine I used a spell I didn't really mean to use… and we have to delete that spell from my record," he finished,.

"What did you do this time, Sirius?" you said, your voice tinged with worry. "Uhh, I accidentally cast the imperious curse on, um, our classmate," Sirius explained. "Could you kindly help me?" "How do we get in?" you asked to which Sirius smirked "Don't worry darling, I have a plan for that"

"Do you even know where the chamber is?" you asked, looking left and right to make sure no one was nearby, "Yes I do sweetheart, now if you let me lead the way," he said, your heart skipped a beat, even though he loved calling you sweet nicknames you always found it attractive and might I say even had a little crush on him. He walked up to you and began walking towards the left room.

You shook your head and followed him into the room, which contained a desk with some documents on it, a bookcase, and a numeric passcode keypad on the wall. "This has to be it," you said, "but how do we know the fucking passcode?" Sirius asked, moving closer to the desk in search of a clue.

"This must be the chamber," Sirius exclaimed as he entered the passcode, and the door opened. "Oh, I thought this was our charms classroom," you laughed as you pushed Sirius and entered the chamber.

There were a variety of shelves, each having a name, it looked as though the shelves were set in alphabetic order, "The shelves are in alphabetic order, we should go right if I am correct.." you said as you made your way towards the right of the first shelf when a hand grabbed your wrist and pulled you into a corner.

Your heart jumped out of your chest, but soon your eyes met brown ones, and you both stared into each other's eyes, unable to look away. His brown eyes were so deep, you wanted to explore them, to find out what these brown beautiful eyes held in them, but you were jolted out of your reverie by Sirius, who pulled you out of the corner, his index finger on your lips, indicating you to remain silent.

You nodded and motioned him to follow you in the right direction. Soon enough you found Sirius's shelf, "Now whatever you want to do, do it fast before someone catches us," you said, Sirius nodded, and for a moment he couldn't take his eyes off you, you looked so beautiful in your cute crop top with jeans, your hair tied in a bun and your enchanting eyes.

"Sirius!" you yelled, causing Sirius to get out of his dream and walk over to the papers on his shelf, where he pulled out his wand and mumbled a spell you didn't recognize, removing the imperious curse's spell from his report.

"Let's get out of here," Sirius said as he took your hand in his and the two of you apparated to Hogsmeade. "Ugh, you should've warned me," you grumbled, feeling uneasy due to the apparition. "Well, it was a surprise for you," Sirius joked as he rubbed your back to make you feel better.

"Hogsmeade has such a wonderful view of the sky at night," you said as the two of you started walking towards Hogwarts. Sirius glanced at you and added, "Darling, the only nice view I have ever seen is you."

"Y/n, there is something I have been wanting to say to you for a long time…," he said as you turned to face him. "Y/n, I-I actually uhh, how do you do this, uhh- I-I might have, you know like a very little- uhh" he stammered, and you put your index finger on his lips, "Crush on me?" you asked, finishing his sentence.

"You knew? Who told you? James?" Sirius asked, panicked, as he ran his fingers through his hair. "Calm down, Sirius, I just guessed," you said. "Ughh, what if you don't like me, I shouldn't have-" Your lips collided with his, cutting him off.

As your lips came into contact with Sirius's, your heartbeat quickened and your breathing became ragged. Nothing else mattered except this moment, him. His lips were cold, like ice that melted as it touched yours. It felt like time had frozen.

Sirius glanced at you as you backed away from the kiss and questioned, "So, do you like me as well?" "Obviously you smart ass!" you said, laughing.

I really like anime - especially right now I super want to rewatch Haikyuu and Major ! They have super likable characters and it talks a whole lot about perseverance and passion and sports! Haikyuu was one of those anime that really motivated me and brightened me up with power! And positivity! During my high school years! Plus Karasuno’s (the main volleyball group) totem is of the crow! And the crow really relates to my current spirit guide, and I’ve seen the crow and the mourning dove especially often lately.

My body is also still really weak, my muscles are - but on my way to reflexology today I saw kayaks and I was reminded of how fun it was when I did do kayaks on trips with my family!

I don’t have a lack of money so I could definitely buy a new just dance disc so I could play it at home too. 1. favorite fic you wrote this year

Not to toot my own horn so much, but...I really like all the fics I wrote this year!! I'm gonna split it into two categories :)

For longer fics: Maybe it's because that's where my head is right now, but "Roads Go On" takes the cake here! This fic is just so fun, and I see connections to it everywhere on tumblr, which is delightful.

For oneshots: Oof, this is hard, considering oneshots are the main thing I write... In the end I'm tied between two of them, and neither are Tolkien! I'm very proud of my Barricade Day 2018 fic, "A Witch's Gift" - I pretty much only write one Les Mis fic a year, even though Les Mis means a lot to me, and I think I achieved what I was going for and more with this fic. Also, I just love Musichetta!

The other one is frankly a surprise to me because I almost forgot I wrote it this year: "meant to be", a TAZ hurloane fic. That one didn't get a ton of response but I've had that concept in my head literally ever since I first listened to Petals to the Metal, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

okay, this is 100% cheating, cuz I didn't go back and reread any of my other fics to find That Perfect Line, but I'm just proud of my poetry in "The Lay of Maedhros", another fic that y'all slept on. my dudes, I wrote in Tolkien's Very Own Poetic Style for this!! my favorite scene from this fic is Sauron's conversation with Maedhros.

(Oh, I am also pretty damn pleased with the philosomancy blabbering that goes on in "Gravity" between Gandalf and Fili!)

10. shortest wip of the year

Okay, this fic started out as a oneshot but I couldn't keep it down... I swear i'm working on the final chapter, ok?? I am??

It's "Wedding Blues" my qp!Domadry fic for @buffintruda's birthday that was... uh... 6 months ago.... oops. It's 9.6k, which isn't nothing! But it's shorter than the other two WIPs I've got going, which are both in the 20k range.

13. favorite writing song/artist/album of this year

i legit just listen to my spotify saved albums on repeat all year long with no particular soundtrack for writing... That being said, I've got a "Study Tunes" playlist on spotify that I use (on shuffle) for studying and sometimes writing! it's almost entirely instrumental with a focus on piano, and that really helps me get into The Zone while working!

15. something you learned this year

i swear i'm going to write a longer post on this later, but COMMENTING IS CREATING. this is something i've always believed, but i've been fleshing out the concept in my head and i believe it even more now.

Comments DIRECTLY influence the creation of more fic, and not only that, they are an integral part of the fic itself! Every time you or I leave a comment on a fic, you are creating fandom!

18. current number of wips

I try to keep myself to 2 long fics at a time, with oneshots here and there, but right now i'm at 3! "Roads Go On" + "Wedding Blues" i've already mentioned, but there's also my botfa fix-it "Moonlight" (that i will be turning my attention to asap, i promise!! it's only been uh... 5 months since the last update...yikes.)

19. any new fics to start next year

Honestly, I'll be astounded if I conclude "Roads Go On" and "Moonlight" this year. Especially now that I'm in college! So no, I'm not planning on it, except for oneshots (which I'm sure I will write several of).

Although if I can get around to it .... i have had a Legolas-as-Merida Brave AU floating around in my head since FOREVER... maybe I'll bust that out for Arospec Awareness Week...but probably not, oops.

@milesofkeeffe is the obvious answer! all your kiliel stuff is so so lovely :) but I also really enjoyed @waitineedaname's taz fics, and of course my homie @buffintruda always knocks it out of the park!

it's got to be @milesofkeeffe‘s "Spring After Winter and Sun On the Leaves" coming in at 123k words! of course I've been reading that fic since it began in 2017, so for a fic that i read in its entirety in 2018... that would be this blupjeans fic, "The Last Days of the Legato Conservatory" by goldfishoflove. (warning: it gets nsfw) That one is only 10k words.... can you tell I prefer shorter fics? (Long fics intimidate me! so much time commitment!)

(i’m holding myself in from going off on a [positive] tangent about the way fandom talks about derek’s abuse, but i have Thoughts.)

Suffering from PTSD, ex-Marine Derek Hale moves back to Beacon Hills to open a bookshop and find a calmer life. That’s where he meets Stiles, completely by accident. Stiles is talkative, charming and curious. Somehow, despite the fact that he’s blind, he’s able to read Derek like no one else.

this is honestly one of the most powerful fics i’ve ever read. it’s the pov of stiles’s dad after stiles is sexually assaulted, so it fucking HURTS, but ultimately, it’s a story about profound love, both familial and romantic. (sorrynotsorry: sheriff stilinski is the father john winchester should’ve been.)

Sheriff Stilinski is used to dealing with victims of violent crime. He knows how to approach kids who’ve been beaten and sexually assaulted.

Except this time it’s his son.

It’s Stiles.

i can’t remember who on tumblr convinced me to read this? i remember someone telling me about it, and then emphasizing that the watersports tag is only for a single scene at the beginning of ch9 that is entirely skippable. i knew my stupid ass was going to read it anyway so mostly i was just afraid something was going to be awakened. IT WASN’T THANK GOD but this fic is so fucking incredible i don’t even care that derek paid like $5000 to pee on stiles. i can’t believe i just typed that sentence. THIS STORY HURTS A LOT!!!!!!! but then it feels better a lot

“No,” he repeated impatiently. “I’m not a cop. I’m someone who wants to exchange my money for your sexual services. I was told you were in that line of work.”

Derek was about to rip Stiles’ throat out with his teeth and the crazy kid had just laughed, no trace of fear in his scent. He looked into Derek’s enraged eyes and smiled, welcoming his death.

That’s why he lets him in.

I think TVD finale, tbh? I mean it was utterly crap overall and I haven’t even watched TVD for some time but it was so very very good for us.

So I’m on my re-read of ACOWAR (I read it the first time in about 7 hours flat? I think?) and I thought I would put down my kind of thoughts/observations/things that grabbed me the second time around. I’m still not sure what I feel about the book in whole, so hoping this (much slower) second read helps work that out.

Posted under a cut because it’s super spoiler-y.

- Feyre’s planning in dismantling the Spring Court from the inside was flawless and so perfect. - Lucien. Darling Lucien developing a spine was too perfect. - Feyre’s casual use of power <333 - Ianthe did not suffer enough the first time. - Fleeing through the Courts. With Lucien. Lucien leaving Tamilin. Feyre and Lucien taking our Eris and co. - THERE’S MY ILLYRIANS - Az. Cassian. <3333333 - “I’m the High Lady of the Night Court.” - The reunion. #amiright - The image painted of Cassian flying Lucien to the House. - I still don’t like Nesta. - Poor Elain. I really didn’t see this characterisation coming. - Family dinner take two. And Lucien reevaluating. - I did enjoy Nesta’s straight up questioning of Amren. - “Because I can’t stay away.” - Walking through Velaris after dinner. - Velaris. I just want to go to that city and spend all my time there. - Cassian training Feyre and getting mad at her. - Feyre training with Az. Az teaching Feyre how to fly. This whole thing. <3 - The Library. - Amren and Nesta. Training. Amren is training a prodigy. - Feysand's child being shown by the Carver. - "Relax. Azriel isn't the ravishing type." - Amren telling Rhys off after CoN. - Escaping from the Prison. - The attack at the Library and Rhys power. - Totally saw Elain as a seer coming a mile off. - Lucien going off to hunt for the missing Queen. - Oh my god my heart raced for them all in that battle. And for Rhys facing down the King on his own. - Amren and Varian. - Cassian trying to compliment Feyre and her dress she wore to the meeting of Courts - All the bat references - The meeting of the Courts. All of it. The wordplay, the arguments, Helion. I loved it. - Heading off to the war camps. I just thought the way it was described was so well done, and the Cassian/Nesta moment before the left as well. - The Suriel. Oh my gosh the Suriel liked Feyre and was helping her because he wanted to. I’m so glad Ianthe got what was coming to her for killing him. A heart of a dreamer. - Tamlin is still a bastard, but he’s slightly less of one after helping Feyre and Azriel escape after rescuing Elain. - Feyre flew. - The final goodbye. - “The great joy and honor of my life has been to know you. To call you my family. And I am grateful - more than I can possible say - that I was given this time with you all.” - The Carver. Bryaxis. The Weaver. - Tamiln. The Autumn Court. Drakon’s Legion. Lucien and Vassa. Feyer’s FATHER (though I feel like that one was a little too convenient). - Amren. Amren. AMREN. There’s a reason she’s my favourite character, but my heart gave out here slightly. It hurt. - “I have no regrets in my life, but this. That we did not have time.” CASSIAN. - I knew what was going to happen the moment Rhys told Feyre to use his own power. I yelled at him. I screamed. He couldn’t do that. - I cried. It’s been a very long time since I’ve cried at a book. But for this, for this moment, I did. - It’s an ending, but not really.

Things I didn’t like: - Rhys handling of the entire Court of Nightmares. Especially not prepping Mor beforehand. And not listening to Feyre about it either. That was a shit storm. I am curious to learn more about Eris. I don't like him, and I haven't forgiven him, but I'm curious. - The attack at the library, and the fact it is no longer a sanctuary for the Clotho and the others. - Mor seemed very out of character with how she was snapping at Nesta. Even with the truth she revealed, it doesn’t excuse her appalling behaviour towards another survivor. I’m still not sure how I feel about SJM revealing she prefers females. That, in itself is amazing and I’m delighted for it, but it built out of nowhere. Nothing in ACOMAF even leaned towards it, so I’m just really not sure.

Overall, this book is second out of the three. I don’t think anything can top ACOMAF for me, but I did thoroughly enjoy this book. It wasn’t perfect, and there were flaws, but Feyre and Rhys got the ending they deserved. It was an unashamedly happy ending and the world needs more of those. I’m trying to put into words what this series meant to me, and the bittersweetness of knowing that we won’t hear from these two again. At least, not in the same way. I’m eagerly awaiting discovering what stories the additional novels and novellas will tell, but sad knowing that we won’t have them from Feyre’s perspective. 

Sarah, thank you for sharing this story that you cared so much about with us all. Thank you for lighting up something in me, and reminding me about why it’s good to dream and the light that is in the darkness. I don’t have the proper words to say what I want, and I don’t know how to accurately convey what I am feeling, except to say that I am eternally grateful that this world exists.
