Five years ago I drew the protags Ian and Cortland from BREAKS, which is an acclaimed romance/drama/YA/LGBTQ+ comic by local creator and artist pal Emma Viceli, and author Malin Ryden! Now Orbit Books have picked up the series and are publishing the book trilogy!! Book 1 is out NOW, with books 2 and 3 to follow shortly. I am elated for the creators who have worked EXTREMELY HARD over the past decade to write, draw and publish this comic for us all to read. Sharing this to urge you to support the release of this work! <3
If you are near Cambridge on Saturday March 2nd, there is going to be a book launch party at Niche Comics Bookshop in Huntingdon! Please click on this link, which is a post from Emma, asking to book places to help gauge attendance. Hope to see you there too! <3

🐉RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 I was up until 2am last night finishing The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah, and it was worth every sleepless minute. After reading a rave review in @pastemagazine, I was eager to get my hands on this book, soon after its release. Having high expectations before turning to the first page, I was not disappointed. The Stardust Thief is a solid, well-paced fantasy with strong character development and evocative world building. Set in the desert, the novel draws from the Middle Eastern classic One Thousand and One Nights and highlights the power of storytelling. Stories can inspire, teach lessons, and rewrite history. There are stories crafted from legend and stories we tell from our daily lives. Some stories are shared and some we keep to ourselves. The plot forms around the quest for an ancient and magical relic. Loulie the merchant, charged with this impossible task by the Sultan, is accompanied by her Jinn bodyguard Qadir and escorted by Prince Mazen and Aisha the warrior thief. As with all quests, the travelers face life-threatening challenges along the way that keep the reader turning pages. The Stardust Thief is filled with ancient magic, hidden ruins, friendship, secrets, and betrayal. I’m looking forward to the next volume of The Sandsea Trilogy, which promises more epic magical world building and new adventures for characters I’ve grown to love. ▪︎Currently reading For the Throne by Hannah Whitten
▪︎Release date: June 9th.
I am loving this book! More so than the first one. We are getting to see more of Neve's perspective and I look forward to her pov more than Red's this time around. I had a feeling that seeing her pov in this book would be a good one.
I'm halfway through and I hope to finish by this weekend. Can't wait for this book to be out into the world!
▪︎For the Wolf Synopsis▪︎
The first daughter is for the Throne.
The second daughter is for the Wolf.
For fans of Uprooted and The Bear and the Nightingale comes a dark fantasy novel about a young woman who must be sacrificed to the legendary Wolf of the Wood to save her kingdom. But not all legends are true, and the Wolf isn't the only danger lurking in the Wilderwood.
As the only Second Daughter born in centuries, Red has one purpose-to be sacrificed to the Wolf in the Wood in the hope he'll return the world's captured gods.
Red is almost relieved to go. Plagued by a dangerous power she can't control, at least she knows that in the Wilderwood, she can't hurt those she loves. Again.
But the legends lie. The Wolf is a man, not a monster. Her magic is a calling, not a curse. And if she doesn't learn how to use it, the monsters the gods have become will swallow the Wilderwood-and her world-whole.

ARCs I'm Currently Reading
Do you guys enjoy reading ARCs? Sometimes I find them hit or miss, but often you find a book that you’re so excited to see hit the shelves. Right now I’m reading two different ARCs with hopefully some more in the future. The first one I’m reading is The Darkness Before Them by Matthew Ward, which is set to release November 7, 2023. So far, the story is super entertaining. The story is a bit…

I am so excited to be joining Compulsive Readers on the blog tour for one of my most anticipated books of 2023. Unfortunately, due to health, I haven’t managed to finish it in time for this tour stop, so I’ll be bringing you a spotlight instead of a review. Thank you so much Tracy for arranging a paperback ARC to be sent my way! Let’s get to it, and meet the author, and take a look at the book in…

𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚘𝚗𝚕𝚢 𝚠𝚊𝚢 𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚒𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑... The Larkin siblings are known around the small town of Wofford Falls. Both are artists, but Peter is the hometown hero. The one who went to the big city and got famous, then came back and settled down. He’s the kind of guy who becomes fast friends with almost anyone. His sister Betsy, on the other hand, is more…𝕖𝕔𝕔𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕣𝕚𝕔. She keeps to herself. When Lark goes to deliver one of his latest pieces to a fabulously rich buyer, it seems like a regular transaction. Until the guard plays him a live feed: Betsy being abducted in real time. Lark is informed that she’s safe for now, but her well‑being is entirely in his hands. He's given a book. Do what the book says, and Betsy will go free. It seems simple enough. But as Lark begins to read, he realizes that the book might be demonic. Its writer may be unhinged. His sister's captors are almost certainly not what they seem. And his town and those within it are... changing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 This was truly unlike anything I’ve read. It was so weird and disorienting, with a few moments of genuine horror. The story starts like an ordinary abduction and transforms into so much more. The writing was done well, the story itself was unique, and the fact that it kept me on the edge of my seat, guessing what would happen next, was a plus. This by no means was perfect. The ending was so abrupt that it was slightly jarring. This is a multi-POV. We are given the prospectives from Lark, a ghost, and some other loveable characters. The overall feeling was totally immersive while completely feeling uneasy. This won’t be for everyone - at times, it's confusing and all over the place, but it was 100% a five-star read for me. I absolutely loved it. Add this to your TBR. I finished Velocity Weapon by Megan E. O’Keefe. When Sergeant Sanda Greeve’s ship is blown up by the enemy, she wakes up 230 years later to find she is the sole occupant of an experimental ship belonging to that same enemy. This simple elevator pitch belies just how topsy turvy this book is. At several points the story genuinely did not go in the direction I thought it would which was a nice surprise! The story follows Sanda Greeve, her brother Biran and a couple of other people (spoilers) in a Space Opera that deals with the consequences of an interplanetary war and an ongoing dark conspiracy. Without spoiling too much, the perspective and time frame changes throughout this book so as to build a richer tapestry of this universe. There were a couple of times I felt like I wanted to get through certain characters’ chapters quickly to get back to anothers’ story but the chapters are fairly short and punchy anyway. Plus, in retrospect, the chapters I pushed to get through always had a decent payoff in the end so it was rewarding to read this book in many ways. I was given this book by a friend and I’m so glad they recommended it to me. It was a little heartbreaking to find out that it’s the first of a trilogy, though, when my tbr pile is so big! #bookstagram #books #scifi #velocityweapon #meganeokeefe @orbitbooks_uk @orbitbooks #orbitbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CknT7NYME-q/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“Real courage is to feel fear, but to stand and face it, not run from it.” The Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne is the second book in the Bloodsworn Saga and it is an adult fantasy book inspired by Norse Mythology. The book was released on April 2022 by Orbit. John Gwynne has become one of my favourite authors after reading The Hunger of the Gods and now I need to read all of his backlist. First of all, I loved the cover art for this book too and second I really appreciated the fact that the author included a brief summary of what happened in book 1 so you can refresh your memory. Let's get to my review now. I loved this book too. We now have more POVs to follow besides Orka, Elvar and Varg but that didn't cause any problem but they added more to the story. The new POVs are Biorr and Gudvarr. The story begins from where we have left it in The Shadow of the Gods and now the storylines of our main characters are interconnected. The book continues to be brutal and with many battle scenes. In this book I loved even more Orka's character and I really liked the relationship dynamics between her and the supporting characters. The ending was really intense and now I need book 3 asap.
