So I’m rewatching The Night Agent and just GUUUUHHHH PETER AND ROSE MAN 😭😭😭😭

Peter who hasn’t felt wanted ever since his father was accused of being a traitor and was subsequently murdered. Losing his godfather in the process. Forcing him to constantly be defensive of both himself and his family. Saves hundreds of lives and instead of being celebrated is wrongly accused for planting the bomb. Then gets left by his fiancée while dealing with the fallout after the bomb, just constantly losing people. Is constantly reminded he’s nobody at work and just wants to prove that he’s good and worthy and prove his dad was the man he thought he was and here comes Rose!!!! Rose who at every turn is reaching out to Peter, asking if he can come with her, calling him asking him to breakfast just literally 24/7 she is communicating to him I WANT YOU WITH ME YOU ARE GOOD YOU MAKE ME FEEL SAFE I TRUST YOU I BELIEVE YOU 😭🤚🏻 just all he’s ever wanted and then she gets protective of him in return. Standing up for him against the conspiracy nuts even when he tells her not to bother. Comforting him when he learns of the betrayal of Farr and jumps in multiple fights to help keep him safe. When he’s like “I can get another room it’s really no problem” asking again even though the arrangement was her idea in the first place, but do you really want me here? And she just goes “I know 🥰” communicating she understands he will literally move heaven and earth to make her comfortable and make her feel safe and how he can do that is by staying exactly where he is, with her.

And Rose who lost everything, has had to be scrappy, resourceful, and hyper-vigilant since she was little because of her absentee mother that would leave her alone to fend for herself. She lost all her money when her business went under because she had to invest in herself which you’re never supposed to use your own money but women and especially women of color often have to because no one else will give them a chance. She was betrayed, she has no family left she’s feeling completely alone and Peter has her back and so completely takes care of her immediately

He isn’t patronizing, he’s extremely sympathetic, he takes her opinions and fears into account he truly listens to her and treats her like a partner right from the beginning. He notices her nervous ticks and offers comfort when he sees them. He’s literally in the middle of a high speed chase and checks her head wound to make sure she’s ok 😭😭😭 he doesn’t sleep for DAYS in order to show up for her, when she’s had nothing but instability and inconsistently Peter is CONSTANT. She falls asleep in his presence multiple times despite the trauma, anxiety, and adrenaline which speaks volumes to how safe he makes her feel. When she gets caught up in work, he gently forces her to stop and eat, or get some rest. He sends her books when she expresses she’ll be bored in the hotel. This man essentially falls out a window and then is like ok use me as a crash pad! 😁 *beckons to her with arms open wide*. He doesn’t want them to split up because he doesn’t want her to have to fend for herself and when he tells her to call him even if there isn’t an emergency! She’s literally like ummmm why?? Making all these jokes and he’s like no I just wanna know you’re ok! The concept of someone thinking or worrying about her when she’s not directly in front of them being completely foreign to her because her mom never cared whenever she was left alone 😭

And they just make the perfect team 😭😭😭 they balance each other out and support each other’s weak spots beautifully. He loves his little criminal and keeps her from going overboard and she keeps him from getting himself killed being too loyal and too afraid to break rules or not follow orders.

goddamn “the night agent” makes my heart pound with every other scene. i literally pause the show so many times just because i need time to process all the action and because i fear what's coming next. i am telling you, it’s been after a long long time that i found a series THIS captivating. i can’t tell you how fulfilling of an experience it is when something touches you that way, like it keeps you interested every single second. i am not someone experienced with commentary but god everything about this show is just. so. tremedously. amazing. can’t explain how happy i am that i started watching it.

Peter could have confirmed FBI director hawkins suspicions that Rose was lying and could in fact describe/ID one of the killers as well as the info about the traitor in the white house in an attempt to try and get in his good graces finally after clearly suffering years of hostility from him. “Proving himself” to his superiors. Showing his value and capabilities in that he earned her trust and was able to get information from her no one else could. BUT. HE. DIDNT!!!!

He understood Rose’s trust was a privilege and he cared more about continuing to be worthy of that trust than pleasing his superiors to try and finally gain some favor.

Showing a woman you just met more loyalty and respect than an institution you’ve dedicated your life to??? WHEN I TELL YOU I LOVE THIS MAN
