Chapter 1. The study of self love.
The study of Self Love was quite confusing. Well at least for Winter. She shifted uncomfortably on her couch searching for the right spot. She huffed as she stood up. There was no comfortable position. She walked to the balcony and looked outside. It was 8:20 PM. The street lights were open, People were walking And the stars were shining.
She went back in to get her laptop and notebooks. And returned to set up the table and sat in front of her laptop. Opened her journal and wrote sweet little nothings for sweet little no-ones.
She looked up to the sky, To the stars. And it reflected in her Light Brown Eyes. The wind blew her ginger red hair elegantly. And she opened her Pinterest.
And the first thing she sees is a girl living her life. In New York, In a luxury car, Dressed in stylish clothes. And it led her once again to ask herself what she is doing with her life. ‘Wasting it’ she thought.
The doorbell rang, And Winter furrowed her eyebrows. She was not expecting any one. She opens it and sees her best friends Elle and Julyan smiling and hugging her. “We know it’s almost 9 but hey, We brought Pizza and MAC!” Julyan said and went to her kitchen to prepare the food. While Elle opened the lights in her living room.
The door to her apartment opens and Jennie comes in “Honey, I’m home” she says and hugs Winter and goes to the kitchen to prepare the chicken and pasta she brought. “So what have you been up to, Win?” “Oh you know, Nothing much. Just casually trying to let the realisation that 3 girls are at my apartment at 9 PM sink in.``'' “Come On, Red Head. How else are we supposed to be early for our New York trip tomorrow?” Julyan shouts from the kitchen.
“Don’t tell me you forgot about it.” Elle says with a shocked expression from the couch.
“I didn’t, It's just that there's too much in my mind lately” She says and joins Elle on the couch.
“We’re always here to talk to. You know that right?” Jennie says walking out of the kitchen.
“I know.” Winter says and lays her head on Elle’s shoulder. “Winter Cartier Louvrkind!” shouts someone from the kitchen and Elle and Winter shots up from the couch.
Julyan then gets out of the kitchen “Don’t tell me you haven’t packed?”
“Oh… Yeah. I Haven’t.” Winter says scratching the back of her head
“OMG OMG! Come On then! We have to pack your best clothes!” Elle says and pulls Winter to her room.
Winter wakes up early in the morning to her best friends playing loud music.
“Come On, Winter! Get up! Flights at 1.” Elle says. “We also need to stop by Anne’s house. She’s sick and we need to babysit her till 12.” Julyan shouts from the guest room. “Why do we have to?” Jennie asks from the Kitchen. “Because… Aunt Alice is going to the hospital.” Julyan says. “So Come On! Winter!” Says Elle. “I know what will wake her up.” Jennie says and goes to the room with Julyan, Harmonica’s in hand. They played something out of tune and jumped on Winter’s bed. “Ok, Ok Fine. I’m Awake.” Winter says with both hands up in the air as if she’s surrendering.
The girls shoved their luggage's into Elle’s car, and drove to her cousin Alice’s house. “Hi Alice!” Jennie shouts as she gets out of the back seat hugging Alice. “Hi Jen.” She said, hugging Jennie. Winter goes out the other back seat door after Julyan and Elle from the front seat. “Winter! It's good to see you!” Alice says and hugs Winter. “The gang’s complete today Ellie?” Alice says and hugs Elle next and Elle responds with a simple nod and a smile. “Ok, I need to go now! Sorry for making you girls baby sit at 7 Am in the morning! Thanks Jules! Anne is so excited to see you girls. Bye.” Alice said and went in her car and disappeared into the road.
As the girls went in, They noticed how quiet the house was. “Anne? Malen” Jennie called out to Anne. And they received nothing but silence. “BOO!” Anne says getting out of a closet “Nice Try Kiddo.” Jennie says after recovering from the shock Anne just gave her and messed Anne’s hair up. “I missed you guys.” Anne says and hugs the girls.
“How long are you going to be here?” Anne asks, With Elle carrying her. “Let’s just say until you get tired of us.” Julyan said and Anne giggled.
Turns out it was true, There's nothing more fun than travelling with your best friends. And the feeling of getting in the plane and looking out the window and to your best friends, It's irreplaceable. “Wow, I never thought I'd be able to travel with you girls.” Julyan says. “Same… But hey, We’re like what?In our 20’s? Let’s enjoy life.”
After getting off the plane, It was not a surprise that Julyan and Elle were still so energetic whereas Jennie and Winter were so tired.
“I don’t think I've ever been this tired in my whole life.” Jennie says and clings to Julyan. “What do you mean you’re tired? You slept the whole flight Jen. London to New York.” “I mean- Winter’s tired too.” “Yeah, It's no surprise.” Elle says earning herself a hit from Winter. “10 minutes into the flight Winter was already asleep.” Julyan says “We did baby sit Anne.” Winter answers back.
“Hello, I’m Kelley Altham. I called yesterday to book 2 rooms.”
“Do you mind if I double check?” The front desk asks. “No, Not at all.” Elle says and sits back down. “Madam Kelley Altham?” The front desk shouts her name out and she stands up and smiles. “You just booked 1 room actually.” The front desk says. “Oh. Yes. One room is booked under my friend.” Elle says and gestures to Julyan and the other girls to go to her. “I called yesterday as well, Under Julyan Cher Ringttoen. This is Jennie Kinly, she'll be sharing the room with me” She says with a bright smile.
The front desk finishes with Elle and Julyan’s room. Which was actually for 2 people. And it was Winter who hadn't booked a room yet. “Hi, I’m Winter Laile Cartier Louvrkind. I’d like to book a room please.” “Do you have a reservation Madam?” The front desk asks. “I actually don’t.” “Oh! That’s okay, We’ve got one more room left. It isn’t reserved. Would you like to take that? It's a floor above your friends, I believe.” The front desk says and Winter nods with a smile.

December's End
The cold has claws
They scrape and scratch and hold me down tight.
The bed is my only refuge
Soft lovely blankets holding memories
A false summer
And then there's the darkness
Reminding me what comes at the end of the day
At the beginning
And always waiting.
Reminding me that I don't understand the point.
Telling me there is no point to light
That is so easily devoured.
I must fight.
A yearly battle has begun and this soldier almost forgot how to hold her sword.
But the feeling is familiar.
Grit the teeth
Brace myself
Tight fists and fierce will.
I will win the battle again.
