Pieces... I don’t need anyone to save me. There are too many sunsets I am yet to see, need to see, must see. But someone cheering me on would help. Someone holding my hand in love instead of judgement would be nice. Because isn’t that what we all want? To be loved for who we are and what we are and all that we are, always? The waves and sea remind me that even when its rough, I am here to be me and make a difference to those who need to see they’re not alone as I share the relentless things that have happened to me, that they took from me. The peace and quiet broken by voices; some familiar, some I can’t place, calling out the mundane as they go about their day, treating those they encounter with contempt instead of care, with judgment instead of love. And I pray that they will be quiet so that I can focus, listen, only hear the one voice I need to hear in peace. But this place I find myself in is peaceless cos there are so many pieces, and I will not rest until I am whole again. . . Thank you for reading my words. Before I go, I wanted to share my choice for the poem of the week. I found another Lang Leav poem to share with you. I think this one might be my favorite, to date. It is a gorgeous piece, that flows almost like a song; it is entitled “The Rose” I hope you love it as much as I do. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for the first whole week of February. I feel like this month is going to be amazing. I’m manifesting that for us! I found this quote the other day, and it’s one of the best affirmations I’ve read. Last week, I was in a slump, but this quote reminded me to keep going and persevere. “Make silent moves. Take risks. Seek no validation & do the shit that lights your soul on fire.” I asked myself, “Why do I write? Why do I break my own heart every time I put pen to page?” Because. I’m full of emotions and have to get them out. So, I write. I write what makes me happy; I write what makes me angry; I write what makes me curl up into a ball and cry at night. I need it. I have to do it. It’s like breathing to me. And I put it out into the world because maybe I’m not alone in my thinking. Perhaps, someone out there feels like me too. I don’t write to seek validation or accolades. I do it for the many people who message me and tell me that my words meant something to them. That they related to it on a deeper level. In the past, people have told me that if I changed my writing style, and became more provocative, maybe I’ll have higher numbers. Or if I wrote happier pieces, I’d get more engagement and more followers. To them, I say, “If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.” This applies to every aspect of life, I think. Not just in work but in personal relationships as well. So what’s my point? Well, do you. Do what makes you smile. Do what brings you joy. Do what you like, for no one else but you. You’ve EARNED that. You DESERVE that. You ARE that. Have a beautiful new week, and never let them take your shine because you shine so damn bright. BROOK ▪︎ Thoughts: They say, the only thing certain about life is that it is uncertain. However, I think it’s that very uncertainty that makes the difference between journey and an adventure. Sure, it would be nice to hit the milestones right on time exactly as expected, about as nice as being able to predict every scene in a movie. The movie might turn out to be good, but it loses its lustre. There’s nothing left to discover. And I think it’s important to note that I don’t just refer to the good times.
