Unpopular opinion but I don't enjoy any of the ships from „life is strange” games.

Max does not seem in any way interested in Warren making their relationship obviously one sided. Even through Warren is theoretically one of romantic options it seems to me that his relationship with Max is pushed solely and exclusively by the player.

As for pricfield, they’re all right ,but that’s it. Chloe puts a lot of pressure on Max and even though you can clearly see that she cares a lot about Max ,some of her behavior is questionable. On the positive side, however, I think their relationship is the most emotional out of all the games and their moments are the most memorable but I don't particularly care for them.

As for the Amberprcie, like it more in theory than in reality. When I heard of their relationship in the first game ,I was thrilled and convinced that they would be my favorite ship out of all. I was wrong. My main issue is that their relationship develops wayy too fast. Bts lasts about 3 days, after not even a whole day of knowing Rachel, Chloe tells her she feels there’s something more than friendship between them. After a few days, Chloe is ready to throw herself out of school for Rachel , despite knowing how important that was for Joyce. At the same time I am able to understand her a little,ever since her father died and Max moved out ,she closed herself off and haven’t got any (close)friends. Rachel was the first person to take an interest in her in a long time, making it easy for her to quickly become attached. Similarly with Rachel ,she didn't have many close friends either. I think their relationship is quite cute, but as I mentioned earlier ,I like them more on paper than in action.

Also I don't see any point in mentioning the other ships, the only ones left are rarepairs, and they generally appeal to me mostly aesthetically so there's no need to dwell on them.

Still don’t get how there are homophobic people in the Life is Strange fanbase, especially on Reddit. Like my dude, this place isn’t for you. Generally, these people didn’t play Before the Storm (or any of the following games for that matter) and didn’t kiss Chloe in the first game, and their favorite thing to do is going under every pricefield post to claim that their relationship is purely platonic— thinking that doesn’t make you homophobic, but thinking the game is ruined for you if the main character isn’t straight is. Plus, how can you play that game, see Chloe Elizabeth Price and think ‘yeah that girl’s straight’, be for real right now. And like, you’re in Max Caulfield’s head, who calls girls pretty every time she opens her mouth? And like, you hear Chloe talking about Rachel and you think ‘yeah so she was totally not in love with her’? Interesting.

I always love giving recs out and it's been awhile since I made a post, pretty sure these are mostly the same ones since I haven't been reading LiS fics a lot recently but hopefully you, and any other people new to the fandom will like them! Almost all of these are pricefield just because that's what I read the most

Better Then by IsraelBlargh, 137K, A dark post canon Bay fix it fic, might be a bit much for some people but there was a lot of thought put into Max's powers and it's a pretty good deep drive into them

run away with me by lagaudiere 3k, a cute short fic about Max and Chloe getting married

Recursion by CDNCrow 303K, this fic makes me want to eat dry wall. My favorite LiS fics and one of my favorite fics ever. This fic made me cry and also research book binding. Post canon Bae fix fit fic with really great character work on a lot of minor characters, like Kristen, Fernando and Max's parents, and also on characters that are really hit and miss with me like David and Victoria. Max's powers are also really thought out here and I love how she doesn't get OP over night but we still get those nice moments of 'oh Max is kinda fucking horrifying.' 10/10 and I wish I could re-read it

A Different Way To Be by Mogatrat 9k This is LiS but not pricefield, a great character piece on Rachel and Kate. This fic made me ship them but also made me cry a little bit ( The canon fate of Rachel still happens in this fic)

Escaping The Light by Omnicyde, 275K, I feel like this is a classic fic of the fandom and I do love it. It's a complete AU with a lot of OCs so it might not be to everyone's tastes but it has some great moments in it. Rachel is really great in this fic and is one of my favorites

Pedestal by Mogatrat 28K Super great post canon fic (where the dark room stuff happened but there was never a storm) with a really good look at Chloe's mental heath and how she's dealing with everything

Imaginary Max by VengeSim 60K I can't explain the plot with spoilers but I love this fic because it's a nice little twist on a common idea that the fandom messes with a lot. I love fics that do stuff like this and it's a great read.

The Golden Hour by Ghost_in_the_Hella 18K This fic is a sweet and cute first date fic and one of the rare fics where Max just gets to play with her powers.

The Girls Who Broke the World by GeneralIrritation 173K (Spread over 3 works) I fucking LOVE this series. Just like Recursion above this fic is one of my all time favorites. I remember random lines from this fic like they are burned into my brain. It's a post canon fic set years after LiS with a really good twist on it. This fic has my favorite Vic and Max moments, my favorite protryal of Arcadia Bay and explanation of Max's powers. It also got to make to like Warren and Nathan (only in the context of this fic though.)

we've only got this hundred years by stiction 5K Rare fic set during LiS, really great with adding moments that very much could have happened.

And, though I know you asked for fics or artists, I can't let anyone new to the fandom not know about Love is Strange by Team Rumblebee which is a dating sim set in a completely peaceful alternate universe where nothing about the Dark Room took place. The player ( as Max) chooses between Chloe, Kate, Victoria, and Rachel on who to work with on a photography contest and it's just cute as all hell. The game is VERY well made, the art is amazing, the writing for all the characters is great and it's clear that the team loves LiS.

1. ten months

They haven't lost the ability to smile, but they don't laugh the way they used to.

When it happens, ten months after the storm, it's random, spontaneous.

Max scrolls Netflix, Chloe is looking at her phone. Then, she reads something. Her eyes light up. She grins like an ass. 

"Hey, Max?"

"Yeah?"

"What’s the difference between a casual dinner party and a pirate orgy? The first one you come as you are… The other you ARR as you come!"

When Ryan and Vanessa come home they find them rolling on the couch, kicking each other, eyes watery, breathless with laughter.

2. the fury in your head

Max lets Chloe die, but the storm still comes.

She's in the lighthouse, screaming at it.

"Didn't you get what you wanted?! I did what you asked of me! Why is this happening? What more do you want from me?!"

The hurricane roars and Max wakes up. 

Chloe's arms engulf her in an instant, "It's okay. You're safe. We're in Seattle. I'm here."

Chloe never pushes her to share, she wants to spare her the pain. She imagines Max dreams about the innocent lives lost, the sorrow, the guilt.

But Max's nightmares are about one thing only: not choosing Chloe.

3. (finally see) what it means to be living

It takes them more than a year to find their footing, but it's bliss when it finally comes.

They get an apartment. Max goes back to school, and Chloe enrolls in an Associate in Computer Science program in community college.

They work most weekends, even though Ryan and Vanessa are helping them out. They even get a compensation from the Arcadia Bay Victims Relief Fund. Chloe calls it blood money. But they take it, because they need all the help they can get.

Still, their routine is hard. Seattle is always rainy. They study, they work, they get by. Together.

4. awake, dear heart…

They share a bed, so they technically sleep together, but they're not together. 

There are lingering touches, light kisses and even pecks on the lips, but they haven't done anything else. They haven't talked about it. They're both just so utterly afraid of messing up what they have.

Max finds a note in Chloe's pocket when she's doing laundry. It reads: My offer still stands. Call me? Erika xoxo. There's a phone number. She folds it and then leaves it on Chloe's nightstand.

When Chloe finds it, she doesn't say anything, but Max watches her throw it in the trash.

5. ...awake

"Chloe? You know you don't have to stay with me, right? You don't owe me anything."

It's Christmas Eve. 11 AM. They agreed to sleep in before they drive to Max's parents. 

Chloe immediately sits up on the bed and looks at her with so much concern you'd think Max's nose is bleeding.

"What the fuck? Where did that come from?"

Max grimaces, refrains the urge to cry, "It's just… sometimes… I wonder if—"

Chloe puts a finger over her lips, ever so gently. Then, she kisses her, deeply, intentionally. It's a statement.

When they part, Max wonders no more.

6. worship in the bedroom

They lie naked on a warm June morning, limbs intertwined, bodies sweating, hearts beating loudly.

"Damn, you're hardcore, Max," Chloe grins like an idiot.

"So I’ve been told," Max can't help a little proud smile.

They chuckle together, and enjoy the silence. It's not really silence – a Hozier song is coming from the speakers, and birds sing under their window.

"One of these days, Caulfield…" Chloe whispers absentmindedly.

"What?"

She doesn't answer. She pulls Max closer and replies only in her mind.

One of these days I'm gonna ask you to marry me. Not today, but one of these days.

7. (remember) to let her under your skin

They end up in New York because Max gets a scholarship there, thanks to her impressive portfolio. Her photos and her name are connected to Arcadia Bay and, painful as that is, it opens many doors for her. She wishes it wasn't like that, but… it's the blood money check situation all over again.

HBO did a documentary series, so everybody in class knows everything.

Well, not everything.

But they whisper — she hears words like survivor, so tragic, Jefferson...

It used to bother her. Yet, with each passing day coming home to Chloe, the pain seems to simply drift away.

8. the pleasure, the privilege is mine

It's Chloe's birthday.

Max plans the perfect party with their New York friends. They Skype Max's parents, David and Kate. Chloe drinks, laughs, cries. They eat cake. It's fun, and it ends with their apartment ruined.

Afterwards, they sit together on the couch, spent, heads touching.

"Thank you for today, babe," Chloe says softly as she looks at their intertwined hands. "For a girl that should be dead, turning 25 is kinda wild…"

Max gazes at her with sheer devotion, "I love you so much."

The smile that Chloe gives her might have the power to stop time, "I know."

9. this is now

After the pandemic (they'll always wonder if somewhere, someone was using some cursed, forbidden power), Chloe burns out. She quits her job as IT specialist in some big pharma company, and starts freelancing as a graphic designer. That year, Max hits 200k followers on Instagram. She signs a photobook deal. Chloe designs the cover. It's a wild success.

So Chloe spins Max in her arms one Friday afternoon, and blurts out, "Max, I think we're ready. We've been talking about it, let's just do it!"

Max laughs, nods.

They lock eyes, and yell it in unison, "Let's get a dog!"

10. ten years

Chloe's making spaghetti — her long, honey-blonde hair up in a messy bun, her arm tattoo covered in black ink. Max's watching her work, sitting at the kitchen island, playing with the white gold band in her ring finger. Deckard, their Labrador, sits at her feet.

They're talking about their day, complaining about shit, making plans.

There's three candles by the window: one for Rachel, one for Joyce, one for all the others. Today's the anniversary, but it doesn't get to them anymore.

Life's weird, thrilling, also boring at times. 

It's good too. 

They made it. And they will be okay.

I wonder if Max and Chloe will return for the next Life is Strange game. I've loved all the games, Life is Strange, Life is Strange 2, Before the Storm, Farewell, Captain Spirit, True Colors and Wavelengths - so whatever is next, I know I'll probably fall in love with the new character. But I also can't help but hope they make Max and Chloe's games a trilogy by making After the Storm. The Life is Strange fandom has been alight with rumors. An old rumor that said Max and Chloe might return in a game, another rumor Max may come back as a teacher with Chloe only appearing if you saved her...

All I know is I really think the best story would be returning them together in a Bae game, exploring the most intense consequences yet and how Max and Chloe are dealing emotionally in the aftermath, getting to explore their love and trauma. There's just so much I feel they could do with a game like this, and I always wonder if they'll do it, explore the Bae end like the comics but in much more detail. Before the Storm, Life is Strange, After the Storm... it's just to perfect! Something is coming, that I feel! The tsun scoops collab with Max and Chloe ice cream, Sanshee having new Pricefield merch coming soon (here and here).... something... I hope!! End of February would be the dream... I just want a new Life is Strange trailer! Some fans feel like Hannah Telle, from her instagram posts, knows something too. We just have to wait and see! Just please, I want to go back to the Life is Strange world.
