It is renowned for its tourist hotspots and idyllic beaches, along with mountains and scenery that is nothing short of a Photographer’s dream. It is surprising that there is much in the way of real estate to go when the county boasts as much as it does ~ and the prices of homes are not out of even a first-time buyer’s budget! Why, might you ask, is a county with much to offer, not being snapped up and lived in by as many as possible? Is there more to the county that is being kept covered up and a secret?

welcome to leavenworth, maine: america's ultimate postcard town.

this little borough that time forgot was founded in 1837, through the dogged efforts of the hubbard, de vries, and fitzgerald families — immigrants, yes, but proud patriots. a hidden gem squeezed between the gulf of maine and the canadian border, some 3000 people now call it home. the community is tight-knit, warm, …quirky in a way only small towns hours outside of the nearest large city can be.

it’s a new year, a time for new beginnings, and change is on everybody’s minds. even leavenworth is slowly, stubbornly, crawling into the future. it was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? there's a new, young mayor, and they’ve got a lot of ideas. fresh faces on town council are looking to do something new, big, and different. snooty big city real estate developers are always snooping around with their expensive-looking big city friends, up to no good probably. but they come every summer like clockwork and nothing’s ever come of it.

has that ever stopped locals from gossiping? from nervously clearing their throats, or their constant vigilance from behind diner menus? of course not.

people will spend months in a sandbox game like minecraft/factorio/satisfactory perfecting a base or a build idea. i'll spend months perfecting a diy linux install and wineprefixes to *run* sandbox games. or any game tbh

#daemon.md #gaming #linux #wine #proton #sandbox games #the one thing i don't understand about sandbox and basebuilder games is how the goal of the base is to produce all the resources #often automated and as fast as possible #and yet once the base is complete there's usually no use for it #in factorio the goal is usually a set amount of science/min (a meta-goal of sorts testing your engineering skill)#or it's about trying different and wacky builds #but like in minecraft so many people will start over once they have all the farms and a castle/house/whatever #that's basically just empty decoration #and like the point to me of building a base that provides all the resources you need is to enjoy building it firstly #and to be able to upgrade and improve it (with new designs)#but to then go out and use the resources it produces to build or create something #and to enjoy your creation #build a castle and then go roleplay in it #make your creation have some level of permanency #getting my game library working via proton/wine etc. has a goal of i can play those games #i can use the time i spent to get something i enjoy out of it #same with a working install #especially when i get dotfiles and git set up properly #idk #this is also a super long set of tags oops
