I just noticed something about some of the actors in Granada Holmes.

A few of the actors (I've only noticed two so far) starred in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).

Charles Gray, who plays Mycroft Holmes (and was first introduced in the The Greek Interpreter episode of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes), also played The Criminologist in Rocky Horror Picture Show.

While watching the The Norwood Builder episode of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, I noticed that Jonathan Adams portrays Jonah Oldacre. Jonathan Adams plays the role of Dr. Everett Scott in Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Obey Me x RHPS

RHPS: Rocky Horror Picture Show (so, no Luke for obvious reasons)

RAD has decided to put on a production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Who gets what part?

Brad Majors: Simeon

is among a sizable group of people auditioning for the part

still remains on stage after being told that the audience will be yelling "asshole" every time Brad's name gets mentioned

audition involves singing Brad's verse in "Rose Tint My World"

is the only one that can hit the high note in that verse without having his voice crack

Janet Weiss: a fairly young but sweet female demon

Dr. Frank-N-Furter: Lucifer, Mephistopheles as Understudy

Lucifer honestly was just there at the auditions to watch initially

watching other people fail to bring the character to life, however, irritated him

is a big fan of RHPS and so knows that whoever performs Dr. Frank-N-Furter cannot hold anything back

the only person that he feels came even remotely close to channeling the spirit of the character was Mephistopheles

of course, admitting that would do a number on his pride, and so he gets up from his seat and basically shows everyone how it's done

Mephistopheles is understandably pissed, because damn it, why does Lucifer have to take everything away from him? And why does he have to be the former angel's understudy?

Riff-Raff: Satan

was hesitant to audition at first

that is, until he knew that the character gets to kill Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the end

then he's all in, because he's not going to let the opportunity to mess with Lucifer slip away from him

Magenta: a fellow friend of Satan's

Columbia: Asmo

honestly, the part was kind of written for him

enough said

Dr. Everett V. Scott: Solomon

considering that Lucifer and Solomon are (sort of) rivals as it is, the part's perfect for him

plus, he doesn't have to sing, and his singing is about on par with his cooking

Rocky Horror: Diavolo

this man...

he literally jumped at the opportunity to play Rocky

a, he gets to be shirtless

b, he can lean into his more goofy side

c, he's familiar enough with the story to know that Dr. Frank-N-Furter created Rocky to essentially be his sex toy (and we all know how gay Diavolo is for Lucifer, so...)

Lucifer tried to talk Diavolo out of auditioning for the part but failed to do so (because once Diavolo's mind is made up, it's pretty much impossible to change it)

Eddie: one of Asmo's male flings

The Criminologist/Narrator: MC

the production was their idea in the first place

they're not super confident in their singing voice (hence why they're not playing Janet)

Transylvanians/Floor Show Audience Members: various RAD students (including Mammon)

Not to fandompost in 2023 but because it's October, I'm constantly thinking about RHPS and then I thought about that picture of the Star Trek: Enterprise cast dressed up as characters from Rocky Horror,

and of course, Scott Bakula always turns this young man's fancy back to Quantum Leap. Except it made me think of Quantum Leap from the year 2022.

So here are my headcanons for what costume each character would wear based on their vibes because there's no way that Ian isn't a huge fan and there's no way that the QL Project team didn't sit down for a movie night (or go to a midnight showing) and dress up one year before Ben leaped.

Ian: They're first on the list because they were the first one where I knew it. The obvious answer is Frank-n-Furter, but I think it would be Riff Raff. Frank is too obvious for Ian, cause yeah the fashion, but given that Riff Raff is the put-upon servant, I would imagine Ian identifies with him as a put-upon tech genius. Also, I think Ian is the only one capable of hitting that note perfectly in "Time Warp" when Riff Raff goes "Like you're under sedation!"

Ben & Addison: Smart answer is of course, Brad and Janet, they're the couple, but they don't have a big enough cast to fill out all the roles and honestly I think that it would make more sense for Ben to be Rocky and Addison to be Janet, because I think Addison would get a kick out of Ben being in a gold speedo. (Plus I bet Ben makes some sort of joke about it being the most mortifying outfit he's ever worn, which is hilarious in hindsight once he becomes a leaper)

Jenn: I admit, because we know the least about her, this one is tough, but honestly with her fashion sense, I would say that either Columbia or Magenta is a safe bet. But I also can't say that Jenn wouldn't totally rock a Frank-n-Furter costume.

Magic: Clearly the least into the whole thing, I think Ian would try to goad Magic into being Frank-n-Furter but he'd probably end up as Dr. Scott, because it's just a suit and a wheelchair. Plus Magic's already got the stache.

since i've seen people talking about whether or not the rocky horror picture show is good representation relatively recently (sorry i'm slow to these things) i thought i could throw my hat into the ring since i've watched it an unhealthy amount of times this week. a lot of people question whether or not they should look up to or idolize frank n furter due to him being such an iconic character but horrible person at the same time. i think that it really depends. my whole interpretation of rhps is that every character is flawed (except for a select few). everyone is a victim but not exactly angels themselves.

brad and janet are victims of the events that night but at the same time their wrong-doings aren't always caused from it. janet and brad (more so the former) both cheat on each other. it makes me wonder if their car never broke down they still would've cheated. brad seems to have a lot more regret (once in a while), but janet, even before the start of act two responding more flirtatiously to frank and rocky ("i'm a muscle fan!" dude your fiance is right there), doesn't have any real regret. i mean, it's good that she discovered herself. that's awesome, but i just feel so awful for brad. anyways this leads to the two being completely lost and filled with guilt at the end of the movie.

frank is probably the more complex. hes free of the chains of society, being him with no restraint, cross-dressing and being sexually liberated. this freedom also frees him from the other things society shuns (murder, assault, cannibalism, etc). you feel empathy for him before his death because he can't be himself, expressing his gender and sexual identity that society punishes, but it also feels just because of all of his negative aspects. your'e rooting for him but he also disgusts you.

this two-faced nature extends to the majority of the characters. dr. scott is caught in the middle of this whole affair with brad and janet just because he wanted to help his delinquent nephew, but he's an ex-nazi scientist, a person who would view everyone who was in the castle that night as the lowest of scum. riff raff and magenta are poorly treated frank and are the people who finally put him in his place. they're also incestuous (really pat and richard?)! eddie had his brain chopped up, got killed, cooked, and eaten by frank. at the same time he's junk. the transylvanians know that frank isn't the greatest of people but still choose to party with him. i would say they don't really have a choice, the castle being one of the only places they can express themselves freely.

this leads me to talk about columbia. she only wanted to be somewhere she could be her, even if there were flaws in her environment it was still better than wherever she came from. she wanted to love and be loved by both frank and eddie. this, however, didn't come without its consequences. the only other characters I would say aren't like the rest are rocky and the criminologist. rocky was just born so he has no idea what's going on. the criminologist isn't even in the story he's just the narrator.

anyways that's just my thoughts. i've seen too many people as of late saying "boo frank is bad boo" leading them to view the movie as bad. that's the whole point. he's awful. he's supposed to be awful. all of these people are awful. it's a satire on how conservatives view the queer community.

isn't fun though? seeing these characters express themselves while being a little more than morally gray? i'd say so. long story short: this musical slaps. you just gotta understand that you aren't supposed to look up to these guys.
