shipping is so unreal like you could have a gifset of two characters staring at each other across the room with blank faces and you can bet your ass I'll be in the tags like #I'm gonna jump off the windowNNNHGHH

sorry i dont go here i didnt even finish the show. but 'the 100' having the most widely acknowleged case of the bury-your-gays trope makes it doubly funny that it also went on to have the most egregious case of straightbaiting ever broadcast as well. the fact the actors have shared they were told to play their respective male and female leads as having a romantic attachment for no less than half a decade only for them to never act on it and then in the end ONE MURDERS THE OTHER. thats really something right there. i think the show runner might not even be homophobic, just a sadist

I think it's the ALMOST canon ships that get the best, most intricately woven, beautifully told fanfiction.
those nearly-kind-of-almost-maybe-could-be canon couples
the ones that make it almost painful to live with the knowledge that if just one or two things had happened differently, just one or two things: if one of them had said something differently here, done something differently there, or if certain events had shifted a little, just a fraction, they'd have been together - undoubtedly.
you can see it. everyone can see it. but it's not enough - they're still an almost-but-not-quite, maybe-but-it-was-never-confirmed, kind-of-but-annoyingly-ambiguous
fanfiction writers take their potential and they hold it close and they lovingly craft something amazing and beautiful with it - finally giving them the chance to be together like everyone knows they would be in-canon if the story wasn't against them
they spring out entire novels from canon-divergence in the places where just a little step in another direction could have led to them being together
they build whole intricate Alternate Universes where the characters are able to meet in an entirely different way and still fall for each other
what I'm saying is that the insanity of a ship where it was almost-canon drives writers to a specific kind of creative madness that produces the best fanfiction....
so if you check out my graph here you can see the line for the more almost it gets vs the more unhinged and motivated it makes the writers both rising in a wonderfully clear diagonal line and today I will be discussing the

If you claim to love a ship then unironically and actively drags one of the parts involved and also thinks one character deserves much better than the other you’re a total loser.

Sometimes I just want to watch a film version of my favorite fanfiction. I can't be the only one.

I don’t know if you could tell from the everything about me but I fucking adore when the guy is the emotional heart and the woman is the intellectual heart of a ship.
Like, that shit fucks heavy with me

As a bellarke veteran, I would like to remind everyone that show runners will say shit, actors will say shit, other fans will say shit and the media will say shit about the pairings you love all the time that you disagree with and honestly you should ignore all of it and just believe what you see on the screen. Fuck the rest. Art is subjective and shows do this all the time to keep the audience guessing. They probably don't even know what's going to happen.
It was only after the 100 ended that we all found out that bellarke was supposed to happen but didn't because the showrunner decided that he would ruin the show out of spite towards one of the leading actors and their fans.
Always believe what you see on the screen, not even subtext. Literally what's been intentionally written, shot and edited by the show. That's all you can go off.
It's true that it may not end the way you want it to or whoever you ship might not get together but that's not what matters. The truth is that what's already been shown is there for all to see and they can't take it back.
Honestly the whole 'shippers aren't as intelligent as other viewers and this is more than about ships, go find another show' thing gets on my nerves because people can do what they want for one and its completely normal to see chemistry and potential in two characters. It also doesn't mean that we don't see all the other amazing things this show has to offer. It just means we see chemistry. That's literally it. It's not that deep.
They don't even have to get together but anyone saying that shipping as a whole is bad is a bit ridiculous, it's never that serious.
ITS FUN FFS
It all jumps back to the whole idea that anything that's enjoyed by mostly women (shipping) is seen as less important.

there’s usually one person in my ship pairing that i’m like yes, you go out there and be a little slag- proud of you, hoe. and then there’s the one where i’m like, no, you love only the partner i want you to love and if you even look at another person i will end you.
just me or?

If I had a nickel for every time the actors in my subtextual/"non-canon" (canon to me) ship went on to star in a horror movie together and make the whole fandom go "they're making an AU for us!" I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

The bad thing about having a specific taste for ships is knowing that it will hurt every single time 🥲

Think we can do this without her? If we don’t, she died in vain, and I’m not gonna let that happen.
