when I was younger, I always assumed that MCD!Zane was a mama's boy when he was little (I think it was because he had her looks and my brain was small lol). It made the whole "Garte corrupted him cuz he was young and impressionable" thing hurt even worse (sorry if you don't want rambling in your inbox)

for sure for sure u are so correct!! they're all a bunch of mama's boys in every universe tbh, but MCD hits different. In my head (and my rewrite) Garte's like,,, awful and the kids seek out Zianna for comfort and safety whenever they can, and she always does her best for them. She sorta acts as their anchor to reality, and it'd be Garte's biggest struggle with influencing any of the kids bc he needed to separate them from Zianna, from warmth and comfort and safety and reason, and this literally only gets harder for him when the kids start dropping like flies bc then she starts holding on tighter. Zane was both the hardest and easiest to infect bc by the time Garte properly got around to weaponizing him (after Garroth and Vylad were both gone), the poor kid's mental health was at an atl which made him kinda vulnerable and impressionable but Zianna's mental health was ALSO at an atl and she couldn't bear the thought of losing her only living son!!! On some level I think adult Zane is still a mama's boy, but he's been so corrupted by the idea of duty to his nation implemented by his father as well as Zane's own goals that he's repressed that side of him.

I’ve been thinking of trying on the label genderqueer, to see how it fits. I’ve used greygender in the past, and am currently using nonbinary tho it’s never really felt like the best fit so much as the simplest one. My newest project for the summer is refurbishing Gatsby's terrarium

It's not bad as far as ball python enclosures go, probably much better than 90% of captive specimen have, it provides him with a warm and cool hide, he has a little shelf he can rest on, a water dish, enough space to strech out and even climb a bit etc., but recently I've been thinking that I can do more to make it even better.

I have a branch we've found outside, it's strong enough to support his weight; I'm gonna cut it to size, pour boiling water on it to disinfect it, stick some dried moss to it with aquarium silicone and wrap a dried vine you can buy on it for moisture keeping and decoration.

It's been pretty difficult to keep the right humidity with the bowl and a vase with a live plant in it on coconut chip substrate, so I've been thinking of trying to mix coconut chip as the base, add some dry substrate moss to keep the humidity for longer, and adding tha pom khlong bark as a way of keeping it clean (I've read that it's anti-bacterial). It's just an idea I'll have to reaserch further, but it's a start.

I will also probably throw out the live plant, since it's not doing too well, and add a hollowed out stone-type hide where I'll put a sponge to keep the humidity up while having it look relatively subtle. I have this tupperware box with a sponge in it now, and while I accepted it for a few days to boost the humidity before a shed, it just looks dreadful aesthetic-wise and it just has to go, like I'm sorry.

The heat spot's paint has been peeling off too and reveal the concrete underneath, and while it's not harmful, it looks awful. I'll try to cover it up with some fake plant or something, I've considered sticking moss to it, but it will probably peel off too when I clean it. I'll figure something out.

I'll probably go on a walk to some pet shops in town to see what they have decoration-wise, maybe I'll but something small to put there for stimulation purposes.

The terrarium decor was okay for when I first brought Gatsby home, but he's a young man now, about a 1 m in body lenght; He used to eat a small mouse when I got him, now he can easily eat a medium sized adult rat (frozen-thawed of course). The terrarium just needs a change, after almost four years with miniscule re-decorations. Its time has come.
