So about the Batfamily and ghosts...

So I was looking through the DPxDC tag and just... Ghosts are actually like a known thing that Batman and Co. know that they sometimes have to deal with...? Batman does sometimes need to deal with supernatural threats, including spirits and ghosts among other things (Solomon Grundy is an undead gangster and tends to live in Gotham's sewers. Jason Blood can turn into the demon Etrigan and he often lives in Gotham). So Bruce and company would ABSOLUTELY believe that Danny is a ghost by the time the rest of the Batfam is there once Danny shows off his ability to turn intangible and fly.

As two examples of ghosts that are not uncommon for Batman and squad to have to deal with, on the rogues side, you have Gentleman Ghost aka James Craddock.

Who was a 19th century thief/highwayman before he was killed and cursed to never be able to pass on. He tends to travel around, stealing things and causing general mischief, so Batman sometimes runs into and has to deal with him. Also he's British by the by, so have fun with that! (Also you know. His character design is just rad as hell so I personally always love to see him pop up in things!)

And on the heroic side you have Deadman aka Boston Brand.

(Yes, he did die in those clothes.) He was an aerolist acrobat (he did much of the same type of things that Dick Grayson did at the circus) who died during a performance and was unable to pass on until he found his killer... But then decided to stick around anyway to help the Justice League out where he can. Normal people typically cannot see nor hear him, so he has to possess others to be able to communicate with the living.

So yes! Batman and family do know that ghosts exist and have dealt with them before! And in fact, they have special equipment to deal with them and other supernatural foes they may face! Specifically they have access to the material known as Nth Metal, which is able to effect and hurt ghosts even when intangible otherwise. They have batarangs made of Nth metal, but Nth metal can be used to make anything that you can use metal for. So Nth metal knuckles or handcuffs are not out of the question. Nth metal does tend to be pretty rare on Earth, but eh. Brucie is rich af so that's not much of a problem for the bats.

FRESH DRAWING GUIDE:

Hello everybody, I've come to give you all this absurd reference guide for drawing Fresh. yep. I decided to spend hours slapping this together.

If I got anything wrong or should add anything PLEEEASE lemme know! All ideas welcome!

If you want to see my "research" on this character, let me know in the replies, because there's so much to talk about with him and I'd love to do a character analysis or two, I couldn't put much about his personality or source posts in this because it's just a drawing guide!

The host's soul shows up in their left eyesocket

- The soul tends to look unstable (cracks & a sortve stroboscopic effect.. i couldn't think of a better word.) but not in some cases...

It doesn't have to be a white upside-down heart, that's just a reference to an undertale monster soul.

He has a purple substance full of little RADs that emanate from his eyesockets (when his sunglasses are off)

Fresh leaves a rainbow cloud of smoke when he "poofs". Either teleporting him and his host body somewhere or leaving his host behind.

Human Designs:

Fresh can possess humans too.

They all look physically different because they're different people that he's possessing.

Fresh can possess pretty much any body, but I thought I'd show the varied examples of humans anyway

Don't forget the orange jacket flaps! or his hat propeller!

I dunno what's up with the multicolor tongue thing. I think it was extra parasites in the host's mouth? I feel like it was scrapped at some point... but I could be wrong

FURBIES!:

The REAL Parasite:

Fresh is actually this little parasite controlling a host body. (if you didn't know that why are you reading this post rn!?! but nah I love new Fresh fans, welcome!)

The main parasite is this purple one with the eyemouth and four(?) tendrils, the other colored tentacles are prrrobably Fresh's offspring (freshmageddon moment?) (I'm not actually sure, I'm just pretty sure they're not part of the main parasite but are parasite tentacles)

I love your fat Mc headcannons so much!!! As a chubby person with low self esteem they are honestly really comforting, If you feel like if I’d love to see you write for the datables too.

Okay, considering I got two requests for this, here it is, part three with the dateables!

(And while I did not include Luke of course, I do think he would be confused about a fat MC having low self esteem. He doesn't get it, but he gets it bothers you and I think he'd just go out of his way to hug you because you're so squishy.)

I would also like to say that I'm really happy that these headcanons have been comforting. I've come a long way in my own self esteem and body image journey and I think that's the only reason I was able to write these at all. It's one thing to say these fictional characters will love and accept you the way that you are, but it's been my experience that real life people will, too. At least, the ones that matter do. The rest can fuck off lol.

Diavolo

He knows there's something causing you to have some low self esteem, but he isn't sure what it is at first. He observes that you just have this sort of discomfort sometimes. Eventually he just asks Lucifer because he can't figure it out on his own. Mostly because your body size seems completely irrelevant to him and he doesn't know enough about how such things are viewed in human society to understand why you might feel that way. Once he knows the truth, though, he has conflicting feelings. He wants nothing more than to reassure you that it isn't something you even need to worry about, but he's also outraged on your behalf. He's normally very fascinated by human world culture, but this makes him angry.

Diavolo will chat with all the brothers about this aspect of you. He wants to make sure that he isn't contributing to your insecurities at all. He makes sure your RAD uniform fits well and is designed so you're comfortable with how revealing or not revealing it is. He makes sure all the desk chairs at RAD can accommodate you. And he will act swiftly and decisively if he hears anything about rumors or students making fun of you.

If you're in a relationship with him, he will go out of his way to reassure you about your body. He wants you to know that he loves it, just as he loves everything else about you. There is nothing wrong with it at all, MC. He seems to understand that you need to hear him say it. That you need to hear him tell you that when he looks at you, all he sees is perfection. Considering how tall he is, you might actually be able to wear his clothes, too. But if it turns out they fit you just right or are really long but tight around the middle, he's going to think it's the cutest thing ever. He might deliberately buy clothes that are too big for him and then have you wear them so you'll feel like you're drowning in fabric.

But there is no doubt that he prefers when you aren't wearing any clothes at all. He won't let you keep the lights off during sex, he wants to see every part of you. Covers you completely in kisses, lingering over things he's heard you complain about. His favorite thing is to put your legs on his shoulders - he loves to see your whole body shaking beneath him, the way your legs clench against him. He's going to make sure you aren't capable of thinking at all, let alone thinking poorly about yourself.

Barbatos

He knows, of course. He knows exactly what you're dealing with. He can tell if you won't eat too many of his pastries. He'll make your favorites in an attempt to get you to at least take some home with you. He notices the way you move, how you avoid certain types of chairs, the usually over sized clothes that cover every inch, the way you avoid reflective surfaces. He notices all of it. He sees everything. He does his best to redirect you when he thinks you're struggling with something related to this, but he won't say anything to you directly. He's also really good at derailing other people who may say something they think is harmless, but isn't. Just easily changes the topic.

Barbatos takes it upon himself to make you stunning outfits for nearly every event. Any time you need some kind of fancy outfit, he is ready to make you something perfect. It fits you exactly right every time. Somehow, when you look in the mirror, you actually think you look good when you wear what he's made. How did he even manage to do that? He's pleased with himself for making you something so nice, but the way it makes you cry upsets him. He knows you don't often feel this way when you look at yourself. He knows that you cry because it's so rare for you to love the way you look. But it still fills him with a simmering rage that he somehow hides behind his usual smile.

In a relationship, he's going to touch you subtly all the time. Puts his hand on your back, circles his arm around your hip, any opportunity to touch you, he takes it. It's so gentle and nobody else notices, but you are hyper aware of the way his fingertips are always ghosting across you. When you're alone, he'll say everything you need to hear. He will tell you that he loves you for who you are in your entirety - your heart, your mind, your body, all of it. Because each of these things make you who you are and he loves you. Your body is perfect because it belongs to you, MC.

His favorite thing to do is wrap his tail around one of your thighs. Pushes one or both of the tips between them, sneaking it in where you might think it couldn't possibly fit. Considering how he can hide the entire tip of it between your thick legs when you're sitting with them together, he'll do it in public on purpose to rile you up. Then when he gets you alone, he apologizes so sweetly while he undresses you. Takes his time with you, kissing and touching, slowly burying himself in your heat until by the time he really gets going, you're both desperate and moaning.

Simeon

He doesn't notice unless you spend a decent amount of time with him and then he realizes that you're insecure about your body size. He doesn't know why and he doesn't feel like he can ask you directly, but he can definitely tell. So he takes it upon himself to shield you from anything that he thinks will make it worse. Deliberately tells you how good you look almost every day. You probably catch on because that's a little overkill, but it's sweet so you don't complain about it. Unless it comes up in conversation, he will not ask you about it. You can tell him yourself when you're ready.

As soon as Simeon understands exactly how you feel, you notice a subtle shift in the way he acts about it. There's a sort of underlying anger to the way he will defend you now, the way he will attempt to protect you from things he thinks are causing you to feel bad about yourself. He's angry about it, but he keeps it under wraps, hiding it behind his smile and serene personality. If you're prone to joking about your size as a defense mechanism, he will not like that at all. He frowns and tells you not to talk about yourself like that, even jokingly.

Being in a relationship with him is all of the above, but more intense. You find that he will actually scold you about being down on yourself, though he always follows it up with kisses. He's far more intense and unforgiving of anyone or anything else that causes you discomfort. You'll find he also just takes over feeding you. He's constantly bringing you meals and snacks that he's made. He's worried you won't eat properly. If you want him to, he will sit and eat with you if that's something that helps you feel better. All you have to do is ask him and he'll do whatever he can to make you more comfortable. Just leave it to him, MC.

He always seems perfectly calm and restrained until he gets you alone in his bed. He likes to dress you in lingerie - don't worry if you think it won't fit. He gets it custom made, but you'll never find out exactly where he goes for that. You highly suspect certain clothing-making demons may be involved, but you're far too embarrassed to ask. He just loves to see you only partially covered so he can run his fingertips along the edges of the cloth, teasing you for way too long before finally giving in and ravaging you. He can't stop telling you how perfect your body is when he's inside you.

Solomon

As a fellow human, he understands immediately why you might be self conscious about your larger body. Solomon has been through most of human history - he's seen all the trends. He knows how bad this particular one happens to be and how long it has persisted among humans. He watches you to see if you decided to try anything drastic - like using a spell or a potion to make yourself thin. He's ready to jump in and stop you if you so much as look it up. He doesn't want you to hurt yourself, but he also wants you to realize that you don't need to change.

Take the opportunity to tell him how you feel. Tell him about why it's so tempting to use magic to change yourself. How different your life could be if you did. He will listen, but he'll also talk you out of it. In the end, it's his expression that changes your mind. He makes some good points, of course, but the way he just looks so upset at the idea really makes you think you probably shouldn't do it.

Don't tell him that you're insecure in a relationship with him because you are asking for trouble. He'll know already of course, but if you say it, it's all over. He's going to say stuff all the time about your size and how perfect it is. He's going to constantly touch you and tease you and get you to do things you would normally never do. If you react dramatically to anything like that, he'll only laugh and do it even more. He likes to show you off, too. Takes you out places especially if he thinks the demon brothers will be there. Keeps an arm around your hips the entire time.

Similarly, if you say you're too fat to do something sexual with him, he's going to do it anyway. You might even say that you're too fat in general and then all bets are off. Saying anything like that to him is going to make him crazy, so you can be sure you will not be sleeping at all that night. Very deliberately chooses positions that you seem uncertain about due to your size. Spends a night just kissing and touching every single spot on your body. Reassures you constantly because even though he just wants to make you feel good, he knows how important it is for you to hear him say it, too. You're stunning, MC. Don't you know how much he loves you?

Guy who was the one who said ideally if Iori yadayada, I get what you mean. Just was throwing out an idea on 3 hours of sleep. Hypothetically, if Nasu himself came to your house, and said you have to give an explanation for how Iori is a Servant (or living person, whatev) in FGO, how would you go about it?

I wouldn't.

Like I said before, you need a sufficiently cool reason to be able to forgive completely ignoring or even retconning the original themes of a work, and no matter what Iori would appear in FGO for the sake of fanservice, and I don't find FGO's brand of fanservice to be cool at all. The very act of making him a summonable character would be stepping on his original arc, which I could probably forgive if it was for something other than FGO—a fighting game, a pseudo-sequel like CCC, I may even forgive FGO Arcade (if he has to be there for fanservice, let it be on the version of FGO with actual gameplay), but not the mobile game.

Let me give an example to illustrate my point.

One of the last servants I raised before I stopped playing FGO was my NP5 Fujino. At the time, I joked "Man it's kinda fucked up that the animations imply they gave her back her appendicitis when she became a Counter Guardian" but they really did, because it's the most obviously recognizable part of the character that can be repackaged. Never mind that Shiki choosing to save Fujino when the former was actually hired to kill the latter by Fujino's own dad was a critical part of both their character arcs. Never mind that the reason Fujino would actually be remembered as heroic is for when she would talk girls out of suicide long after she had gone blind and had learned to walk with a stick.

Fujino's noble phantasm is twisting a bridge because that was her big moment of power in Remaining Sense of Pain, even if it's kind of weird that she now (metaphorically, as I don't suppose her NP involves creating a real one) summons a bridge to twist and collapse on to enemies when they could just show a big psychic blast. It's especially a missed opportunity that FGO portrays the bridge moment as the height of her power when the whole reveal that Shiki actually saved Fujino instead of killing her is done by Shiki explaining that Fujino's only going to get even stronger as she ages. She can be way more destructive than collapsing a bridge, she just never had to when her real strength was being able to reach out to girls looking to jump off a bridge.

I think an easier one that more Fate fans can understand is Lancelot (Berserker). His NP in FGO is the chaingun he ripped out of a fighter jet in Fate/Zero, his most famous moment in the series. But his NP wasn't summoning a minigun, his NP in Fate/Zero was being able to instantly master any weaponry put into his hands. He could grab Gilgamesh's projectiles and throw them back at him. He could use modern day weaponry like automatic guns that the other servants couldn't, and he could use them with deadly efficiency.

But again when you appear in FGO it's not about the character, it's about the character's selling points. Lancelot's NP is hijacking a jetplane even if there can be no jetplane that's actually present because it's THE Lancelot moment, and FGO is a mobage with very limited game design that's unable to actually interpret Lancelot's powers within the game's scope, so a metaphorical jet hijacking is the best they can do.

But then FGO's all-encompassing popularity has knock-on effects, so when Lancelot appears in another Fate title, like Fate/Extella Link, his moves there involve him whipping out the assault rifles and the jet plane too. It's not metaphorical anymore, he's just summoning these whenever he wants to now. And while a dark knight dual wielding assault rifles like he's in a Wolfenstein game is admittedly kinda rad, I still think it's not quite rad enough to be worth having left his original concept behind.

I don't want that for Iori.

Oh dear, I was sleeping when you needed asks to lift your spirits… I’m so sorry. However, I don’t think it’s too late to make you feel better. With that said, here’s a short essay on why you are an amazing artist deserving plenty of support and care.

First of all, your artistic skills is among the best I have ever seen. There’s no denying your character designs are stellar; from their wide range of body types to their intriguing backstory, they never get old. However, your creativity doesn’t stop here. It seeps on concept art and writing. I remember when I saw your desert concept art (with Rad on it) on Patreon; it was so good that I let out an audible “WOW!”. I know you haven’t published any concrete story, but the lore, world building and character backstory scattered in your posts got me hooked! I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to writing, but yours is among the only one I enjoy to the fullest.

Second of all, kobolds. Kobolds are great. Don’t you think kobolds are great? I love kobolds. Kobolds are amazing creatures: kobolds can yip, kobolds can scream, kobolds can run really fast, kobolds can roll really fast, and kobolds can kobold. I think kobolds should be admired. Kobolds are loyal to their Kobold-hoarding dragon, no matter what happens to the kobolds. Kobolds are such fascinating creatures. Did I tell you how much I love kobolds? Kobolds are great. Don’t you think kobolds are great? I love kobolds. Kobolds are amaz-

Last but not least… you (no, this isn’t some weirdo’s confession, please keep in mind it’s just platonic compliment from a fan). I don’t know you outside social media, but what I have seen on tumblr and twitter, I can tell you are an amazing individual. Despite being caught by adult life shenanigans, you still find time to defend your friend’s and other’s NSFW content from purists. You have so much stress burdened on your shoulders, yet I see you reblog/retweet fan art and write a compliment to artists. Your mental resilience is something to behold!

In conclusion, you are a wonderful person who deserves all the love and support. As mentioned previously, your creative characters, music, art and writing is something I and others inspire to achieve, and your ability to held your head on tempestuous waters is worth looking up upon. That makes it even worse, maybe it is a me because I have never understood Tumblr sexy man culture, I’m more into pretty boys/bishounen designs and Idgf about the chosen tumblr sexy ones honestly! at this point I don’t even know if it’s a joke or not, like do people really find Sans Undertale attractive? I guess that one is a joke right? It’s a joke… right?

Anyways, tumblr sexy man category aside, Alastor isn’t attractive on his own. As you said all of Medrano's "sexy" male designs pretty much look the same and all of them are ugly and over-designer imo, and Alastor is probably one of the worst ones. He looks like an used tampon (long, thin and red), I refuse to believe this guy should wet my panties.

Personality also has a lot to do when I find a character good looking or not, if their personality is horrid I probably won’t like them as much so it doesn’t help that most of HB/HH characters are terrible people, and surprise suprise he is a serial murder and a cannibal? Yeah NO THANKS, get this fucko away from me, I can enjoy a good villain but that doesn't mean I have to get horny over them.

Coming back to the deer thing, I’m sorry but the only deer trait here is the antlers and he doesn't even have them most of the time, also he is not menacing at all, he looks like a crepypasta deviantart oc

So, Hiiragi, Niko and Zantetsu lost.

And we all can correctly predict that it was Zantetsu that was chosen—it was a surprise for me to be honest. I mean, the Nagi trio already had Chigiri with them, so picking up another speed-based player confused me a bit. I have only read that Manga superficially, so I can't say much about Hiiragi but I do think that he was a real good player.

All in all, Niko seemed like a better choice, but I guess we'll get to know why Zantetsu got chosen. Maybe Nagi got nostalgic or something? Lol.

Now, there are 4 members in the Team, and in the match, we'll have Kiyora. Why? Because firstly, Nagi's team was the SECOND team in the second selection to have completed it, so it makes sense that they win again 'cause if they were to lose, then there would make THREE matches in total and that'll delay things, you know.

So now, who is going to be with Kiyora?

An easy prediction is: Karasu, Otoya and Yukimiya.

This prediction makes sense since this trio was the THIRD group to have completed the second selection.

BUT!

These three already have character developments further in the manga, you know. I think, Kaneshiro-san will use Nagi Spin-off as a chance to showcase other side characters like Hiiragi, low-key, came into the table seemingly out of nowhere.

I can't write ALL the possible teams because, haha, that's HELLA lot, so let's take a small dive individually:

1. Himizu Aiki

Team: Third with Karasu, Otoya, Yukimiya.

Bro looks so fucking rad! I mean, his character is too fucking pretty to just be a side character, so I think he could be with Kiyora because that way he'd be in the limelight. Honestly, I want more of him, he is just too gorgeous.

2. Yuzu Haruhiko

Team: Third with Karasu, Otoya, Yukimiya.

He looks like a cutie patootie! I remember one of my Fanfic's reader said that his hair looks like spring onions and I can't unsee, LMAO.

He had been near the focus in some panels during second selection. He, in fact, had a line too when Aryu was asking players to play against them and everybody was refusing, but Anime cut it out—I got a bit mad since he looked adorably funny in the panel.

He has also been seen hanging out with Hiiragi in the background (I'm not quite sure).

3. Tsunzaki Taiga

Team: Fourth with Nanase and Hiiragi.

A good design to be honest. I don't remember much of him, but yeah, he has been near the focus of panels too.

4. Endoji Akira

Team: Fourth with Nanase and Hiiragi.

A HELLA FREAKING COOL DESIGN!

He was present during the match where Shidou got electrocuted and he had some lines too. Idk why but he just seems like a character too good to be thrown out without any screentime.

5. Saramadara Kairu

Team: Fifth with Niko and Hiori.

He actually has a fair amount of details like he is a surfer and is considered pretty intimidating looking by his peers. He was against Isagi, Rin and Shidou during the tryouts too. Would love to see more of him.

6. Ishikari Yukio

Team: Fifth with Niko and Hiori.

Tall af—bro is like 2 metres tall. He was one of those characters about whom something was spoken in the JFU building by Isagi or Kira Idk I don't remember. He had lines too and gave a head pass in a match too.

Looks chill af tho.

7. Nishioka Hajime

Team: Fifth with Hiori and Niko.

He seems like the most probable option because Aomori's Messi, you know. Bro is low-key a meme material in the Fandom tbh.

It seems like the perfect time to showcase his talent which has been hyped up till now. Further, do you remember that Barou, Naruhaya and Nishioka had teamed up and they lost and then Nishi was chosen? What if the choosing team had Kiyora in it?

So it makes perfect sense for Barou to hold a grudge with Kiyora for choosing someone else over him. To add more spice, what if Kiyora had said some outrageous stuffs to Barou? Makes sense!

You getting me, right?

8. Shiguma Kyohei

Team: Sixth with Raichi, Gagamaru and Wanima.

He is canonically a reserved person—that additional time with Chigiri + Saramadara + him. A gentle giant. His character design doesn't stand out much tho. Also, mathematically, two person with that much Team number difference seems really taxing, but I can't say much since Kurona had a rank of 4 too and yet he was in the last team.

9. Tanaka Shingen

Team: Sixth with Raichi, Gagamaru and Wanima.

Appeared in an additional time and in that Blue Lock Bible or something, he was ranked as one of the least appealing boys to girls too.

He seems close to Gagamaru tho.

10. Sokura Tetsu

Team: Seventh with Shidou, Reo, Igarashi and Kurona.

Can't seem to be able to add his pic but he seems rather.. plain looking. That's all. I don't remember him in any panels at all too.

If my mathematics is correct then Niko played like 6-10 matches during second selection. Bro was DONE by the end of it.

He doesn’t get enough canon focus. He really doesn’t. He got a little screen time in Xenoverse 2 and Super, but they’ve changed his personality so much, and I don’t think Xenoverse 2 counts as ‘canon’.

LEAVE THEM ALONEEEE. How many times have we watched him die to Frieza? In movies and games and stuff? Leave him alone.

No one understands him but me and my circle of mutuals. His personality has been horrible morphed by FUNimation, and then Toriyama himself in Super

Banger design. His blood-soaked headband? Rad af. No I’m not including Super.

Doesn’t get enough fanon focus. He gets some fanon focus, but so many people write him as a tragic hero/loving father and it makes me cry every time. He’s canonically a terrible fucking father.

Like them better as part of a dynamic. I love his dynamic with Team Bardock (Fasha/Celipa, Pumbukin/Shugesh, Tora/Toma, and Toteppo/Borgos). I may not like his changes in Super, but I do love his relationship with Gine.

I know what you are. I interpreted this as “Character is Not Straight™️” and Z Bardock is certainly not straight.

I need them to be weirder. I need Saiyans in general to be weirder.

Transing their gender as we speak. I don’t think Saiyans really have the same gender social construct that Earth does, and I of course love a good trans HC, but I genuinely dont think it really works for Saiyans? If anyone else has any trans Saiyan HCs I won’t judge ofc, but I personally don’t.

THEME: Nuclear Radiation

Hello friend! This is more about apocalyptic games than Nuclear games, probably because the first thing people think of when they hear of radiation is the apocalypse. But there's some fun concepts being explored here nevertheless!

Nuclear Knights, by Gormengeist.

Nuclear Knights is a narrative-heavy action TTRPG about adventurers in a world thousands of years after a catastrophic magical nuclear war, where things have wrapped back around to high-magic pulp fantasy. Fight monsters, lead settlements, win battles of wit and worthiness, command the forgotten powers and mysterious ways- uncover what was lost, become something new.

Designed from the ground up to be as evocative of epic pulp fantasy during play as possible, the mechanics are easy to learn without sacrificing depth. Nuclear Knights attempts to be a marriage of classical dungeoneering and bold, modern collaborative storytelling.

This is a game where the radiation is more magical in nature, causing interesting, strange and esoteric mutations that you can contribute to as you play. As a dungeoneering game, there’s a lot of different pieces to help put your character together: classes, disciplines, homelands, titles and gods! Expect a lot of fun enemies and weird cursed loot.

Extinction Punk, by Extinction Punk.

Extinction Punk is a table-top role-playing game (TTRPG) that blends elements of science fiction and science fantasy to envision a future where humanity fails to stop a man-made extinction event such as a climate cataclysm, a nuclear holocaust, or a biological war.

Players of Extinction Punk get to explore the ruins of an Earth that is no longer under humanity’s control and encounter the (not necessarily) human civilizations that rise from the ashes. Together with the person organizing the game (the Game Master, or GM for short), the players create characters that will fight for survival while searching for powerful artefacts or useful mutations.

This is a Powered by the Apocalypse game, which means it’s going to favour story over mechanics. This means that players have quite a bit more control over world creation, so if you don’t want zombies, you don’t have to have them! This game has more mutation themes and options than basic Apocalypse World, and character playbook themes include Ancient Archivist, Bunker Baby, Hardly Human, and more!

Wastoid, by Jason Tocci.

Wastoid is a gonzo, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi RPG, inspired by games like Fallout, Mutant Crawl Classics, and Gamma World. (Especially Fallout! But not so much that Microsoft should sue.)

This game is still in the early development stage: the rules and character creation are bare-bones. However, Jason Tocci has created some insanely popular games and game systems in the past, so this game is probably going to be a huge hit once it’s fully released.

Wastoid uses the Knave rules as designed by Ben Milton, with various inspirations from Mausritter, The Black Hack, and other games. The preview is still a pretty heavy document, with 42 pages of character options, game rules, faction management and advice on running a game that’s fun for everyone. If you like a retro, pulp-action take on nuclear fallout, this might be the game for you.

However, if you want a gonzo-apocalyptic rpg that’s a bit more fully released, I’d recommend checking out Omega Soup, by Dice Doctor Games.

Hyper Light Breaker: Meet Blu

The Northern Realms are brutal. They’re cold and harsh and demanding.

This is a species (nicknamed “Blu”) from the mountainous north, where the roughness of existence leaves them generally well-suited for action and adventure. It’s a natural step for them to become Breakers.

Species, you say?

…now would be a good time to mention that we will have a limited form of CHARACTER CREATION in Hyper Light Breaker!

WHY CHARACTER CREATION?

Originally, we were planning on creating discrete characters for Hyper Light Breaker. This character had a backstory and a somewhat rigid, predetermined personality and play style.

As we continued development however, our animation department advocated that it would both be far more efficient and lend flexibility to the player experience to instead introduce character creation into the game. We converted the character of “Blu” to a species.

As our Animation Lead, Chris Bullock, puts it, “we decided to have one character "archetype", with a single, larger set of animations that could use any combination of weapons, in order to separate the gameplay from the look a little more. The hope was that instead of doing 5 sets of animations, thus requiring one for each character class where each character had a smaller set of animations that they needed, we could reduce animation scope down significantly by sticking with the single archetype.”

ABOUT BLU

They’re sinewy and fierce, careful but playful and fun, and very clever.

Our Character Concept Artist, Isaak Ramos, worked closely with Alx to develop out facial expressions, outfits, looks, and poses for this species.

Take a look at these original concepts from Alx:

EVO”BLU”TION - OUR CONCEPT ART PROCESS

Based on Alx’s initial concept art, Isaak makes adjustments and explorations, expanding on the original concepts. He shares a few key components and considerations:

EXPLORATION: Alx will let me know if he's happy with where his initial sketches are or if he's wanting to explore more directions. In the case of the Leaper, for instance, my main objectives were to flesh out the forms since Alx's concept was already on the money. With Blu, there was a solid foundation to jump from, but we still wanted to explore and solve some important elements to the design.

STYLE: With Blu, we wanted to solve the top by going with a biker jacket or trench coat. I tried some poncho-looking garb, something in the direction of Sergio Leone character. Those kinds of wearables present their own technical obstacles, so we shifted to something more manageable. The short biker jacket came about as I shifted to thinking of a character that was more nimble and athletic. Something along the lines of Canti's jacket (FLCL) with a Han Solo mood.

POSES + REFERENCES: As production goes along, the poses become more standard as I get the rad sculpts in from John DeRiggi and Jack Covell (character artists) to draw over. As much as I like figuring out poses, it’s better to draw over the approved proportions for the playable characters to maintain continuity and speed. For NPCs and Humanoid Enemies, my pose reference generally comes from fashion models. For the sketches and gestures, sometimes I'll go in without a reference, or I'll browse my personal library of references that I've gathered over the years. There are so many pose resources out there now. Weapon references range from museum display images to blocking things out in 3d. Outfit references usually come from a 500 hour Pinterest deep dive, ha!

ITERATING: Alx will go over his initial design and lore thoughts with me, so I've always got a good direction to go on from there. The rest of a character's vibe will flesh out in my head as I gather references. Blu's vibe shifted as our design goals called for different references, for instance. My personal view of the character’s attitude shifted from swift and stoic to nimble and determined as we went along. I imagined a blend of Trinity (Matrix) and Driver (Drive) as I worked on the later concepts.

FEEDBACK: We've formed a great pipeline where I can get solid feedback from the character centric departments. Part of that process involves me checking in with John DeRiggi (Lead Character Artist), and he's been a rock for me as we check in daily. Alx and I have always overlapped a good amount with our tastes, so a momentum is always sustained. Feedback from design and animation is always crucial too... it's all a team effort. Every concept is the culmination of good ideas and notes from across the board!

The Creeps Review

The main appeal in “The Creeps” are the interactions between Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, BMO, Lumpy Space Princess, and Cinnamon Bun. It’s not a combination of characters we see much of. Like, apparently Cinnamon Bun has a crush on LSP. How cool is that? Him hitting on her is really funny and something I wish the series kept as a running joke. They also all have funny names for their alter egos, two of which refer to either farting or the lack thereof. I love everyone’s unique costumes, especially Princess Bubblegum’s. PB has a really nice swan shaped mask, a reference to her pet swan. LSP actually looks pretty for once in her red dress. Cinnamon Bun, the dumbest person in Ooo, wearing a top hat and monocle like he’s a scholar is hilarious. BMO looks cute, and Finn and Jake look rad, especially Finn’s wolf mask. The costumes, in addition to the haunted house plot, make this the closest Adventure Time has come to a strictly Halloween episode. Halloween doesn’t exist in Ooo, but they could’ve totally called it one like how “Holly Jolly Secrets” does for Christmas. The episode could have gone further with its cast selection. I like all the picks, but not including Marceline is a big missed opportunity. She loves pranks and her character fits the spooky atmosphere. Not sure why she’s never able to play supporting roles in the first half of the series unlike the rest of the cast. Tree Trunks would have also been a good addition.

The episode reuses the murder mystery plot from “Mystery Train”. They lampshade this, with Jake accusing Finn or pulling a prank like he did in that episode. It’s nice having the characters casually mention events from previous episodes, which is still rare for the series. I think the characters and atmosphere differentiate it from “Mystery Train” enough, and even elevates it to a better episode. This also foreshadows Jake’s knowledge of Finn’s initial attempt at a prank. I like how it sets up a “who’s pranking who” mystery. Jake and BMO go off on their own. They have a conversation that some people don’t think makes sense knowing the episode’s twist. I give the writers more credit than that. Jake asks BMO if Finn is pranking him, because for all he knows, Finn could have hijacked Jake’s hijacked prank. And Jake screaming at BMO’s capture is just for dramatic effect for Finn’s ears. I like BMO’s speech in this scene, which is a bit iconic. It’s always heartwarming when BMO tries to cheer up Finn and Jake, and he’ll use his philosophy here to console Jake again much later on.

We get a couple more great gags. Finn throwing PB off the railing is so wacky. Hearing the sound of a flushing toilet after LSP’s screams of agony is hysterical. I love her outburst where we find out why she and Brad broke up prior to “Trouble in Lumpy Space”. A “real ghost” appears, making Finn admit he was pulling a prank…up to this point. The melted Cinnamon Bun and BMO’s remains in the closet look very uneasy. Jake’s hijacked prank is very well done. He must have swapped the painting for the one with LSP in the darkness. Jake gets snagged by the ghost (more death foreshadowing), leaving only Finn left. He encounters a ghost lady, who has a fantastic and creepy design. He escapes, and sees the ocean waves crashing against the mansion outside. Seeing the ocean, his biggest fear, represents how traumatizing this whole experience is for Finn.

Jake, of course, was behind this. Lady Rainicorn was dressed as the ghost, and she talks about having sex with Jake in Korean. Sometimes I forget that she’s as much of a freak as Tree Trunks. I love LSP claiming she’s ready for Brad, even though that doesn’t come to fruition. I guess he’s moved on with Melissa. This is probably LSP’s funniest appearance in the series. Finn finds out that Jake wasn’t behind the ghost lady, leaving its identity a mystery for now. It’s not something that necessarily needs an explanation, as ghosts do exist in Ooo. I bought into the popular fan theory that she’s the ghost of Finn’s mom, which of course isn’t the case, but it was a cool idea. Finn puts his memory of her in his vault. He can suppress his traumatic memories at will!

Lucifer

Your first interaction wasn’t the best… okay that’s a understatement it was horrible

Blinded by the bright colors clashed together

“What are you wearing..” Lucifer says judgmental

“Clothes??” Mc responds

“You look like a clown”

“uh yeah that’s the whole point”

You two are glaring at each other and Diavolo knew that this wasn’t going to end well…

“Let’s calm down now” Diavolo says trying to calm down the situation

“I am calm” you both say at the same time- angrily

Diavolo quickly explained the program so the situation won’t escalate

You would design your uniform and to spite Lucifer- follow all of the uniform rules

He can’t do anything if you follow the rules

You read every rule in the RAD rule book and there’s a lot

Mc gets done and gets his first sleep in devildom

Mc went to school and showed off his outfit

Almost everyone liked it- Diavolo liked it!

Lucifer though…

Diavolo had to jump in when you two were arguing

Now let’s take a look at what your relationship is after all the whole bitterness die down!

He doesn’t mind it

He doesn’t get blinded by bright clothes anymore!! Yayyyy

Mammon

Scared of clowns so when he saw you he freaked out

He doesn’t like bright colors

After awhile he does get used to your outfits

But he’s never letting you pick his clothes

…he has to admit that he does like your clothing

You stand out and you look happy wearing it

“Is it tacky or is it good?” Mammon asks himself

He can stand clowns because of you

You two didn’t get into to many arguments- mainly because mammon was to scared on what you’ll do if he went to sleep after an argument

One time you caught him trying some clothes that you got him while shopping

“Awe do you like them?” Mc snickers while watching mammon go red

“No!” Mammon says a little to quickly

You tease him a little more before leaving him alone

and maybeeee take a photo

Leviathan

One of the only people that actually liked it at first

He stared you down when you walked passed

You looked so cool how could he not stare

Although because of the constant arguments with Lucifer made you think he was judging you

“If you have something to say then say it” mc says turning towards leviathan

“a- OH UHM- sorry for staring I just thought you looked cool” Leviathan stumbled with his words but managed to say something

Mc was surprised to hear he liked it but took the compliment

“Oh uh- thank you” mc awkwardly says

You two hung out a lot after that

Mc finds out leviathan wanted to try the whole clowncore thing but never had the confidence to do so

Sooo being the best boyfriend you got some of your clothes that could possibly fit him and give it to him

“Wha-are you sure??” Leviathan asks

You nod and you leave so he can change

While changing leviathan realizes- he’s wearing your clothes

Leviathan trying to stay calm while you compliment him

“So much color..” Satan thought while looking at mc- completely spaced out

Mc stared directly at satan and Satan realized he was staring at him

Satan embarrassingly looks away while mc is confused

He likes the clothes and also loves the reaction it brings out of Lucifer

Probably gets you clothes he thinks would look nice on you

Satan never thought he’d be wearing anything like that until one day

“Wanna try each other clothes” you randomly asked

“huh- oh uh sure” Satan wasn’t thinking with his answer

Satan would’ve usually change his answer immediately after realizing he said the wrong thing but… YOU LOOKED SO HAPPY

“I’ll go grab some of my clothes and you grab yours” mc says while leaving

A change of clothes later and mc is in love with how comfortable Satan clothes are while Satan is trying to process a reaction

He isn’t like leviathan at all but the thought of wearing somebody clothes was romantic

Tried to ignore that thought

“It’s uh..nice” Satan says while looking at his face in the mirror to make sure he wasn’t blushing- not even looking at the outfit☠️☠️

ok ko spoilers, obviously

...i should put this under a cut

opens up a powerpoint presentation. ok ko is in my opinion overall a very good show. its incredibly funny, charming, and...sometimes well written story wise. unfortunately it has a very very big failing in a very very big plot point

clicks to the next slide. my beautiful son tko.

tko himself is fine. i have no issues with his CHARACTER. i take issue with how his character is treated. tko is, by himself, a child with anger issues, he reacts very poorly to being agitated but like...

he has to be agitated first.

there is not a single example before season 3 where tko like, wrecks shit or whatever without being provoked, in his debut for example, hes just doing his job (albeit begrudgingly) before enid and rad provoke him, and he starts fighting them

however, the show always seems to act like tko is in the wrong, treats him like a villain despite his mostly heroic acts, is he PERFECT? no!! hes a fucking kid with anger issues!! he was locked inside a mind cage!! he doesnt know how to deal with things so he hits them!!! he just. happens to be able to hit things very very hard and with lightning bolts.

another example is the season 1 finale, youre in control. in yic tko. literally doesnt do anything wrong. like im not joking.

in yic tko gets let out to fight boxman jr and like...he does that. he throws boxman jr back to boxmore and then chases him over to boxmore. he does not attack a single hero in this episode. he does not do any damage to the plaza. the worst thing he does in this episode is put ko back in the cage. yet its STILL treated like hes doing something wrong???

another thing about tko. tko wants freedom. he says this outright. being locked inside a literal cage will do that to ya. i want to make sure real quick that we're on the same page here that locking a 6-11 year old boy inside a cage is bad no matter how badly he is at managing his anger issues right. right. okay. tko deserved to be uncaged. and he WAS. except...

when he gets out of the cage in youre in control. thats great and all but...his next appearance, tkos house, hes still upset. he still wants his freedom. its just that instead of being locked in a cage hes locked in a (pretty cool honestly) house. it doesnt matter how nice you make an enclosure, sometimes itll just never work for the animal. and thats what tko is like, he wants out, he wants control over the body, which like. is fucking fair?? im someone who REALLY understands the importance of going outside often, tko really deserves to be allowed outside their headspace. its good for you.

but tko DOESNT. GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he shows up. LITERALLY TWICE in season 2 (thats 40 episodes!) and NEITHER of his appearances (tkos house, dark plaza) does he even get to use the body on his own!! its always fused as pko!! he doesnt get a turn!!

and then when season three starts. uh. glances at tko rules. Yeah. The Subconscious. he gets trapped in a dark empty void for [checks notes] about two weeks. minimum.

what im getting at here. is that tko never really left that cage.

okay. im gonna touch on one more tko thing. the FUCKING finale. [furious]

quick recap, in the finale ko and tko have a plot twist moment where "oh hey! ko and tko are the same person actually! and now theyve accepted eachother as the same person and can be happy! hooray!" except like. mko (finale fusion) is just ko

like seriously hes JUST ko. his design? leaning towards kos features. his personality? LITERALLY just ko theres not a hint of tko there. its not the two of them "accepting eachother" or whatever its. its the writers killing off tko.

as well as like. a guy i know pointed this out and i cannot fucking get over it. if they were just going to ""fuse the two"" in the end then WHY. in GODS NAME. is tkos LITERAL FIRST LINE OF DIALOGUE.

hes so fucking INSISTENT on correcting people when they call him ko (which is ANOTHER gripe i have with this show. NOBODY calls him his name) and they just. oh yeah hes actually ko lol. LIKE DUDE. THIS ISNT HOW YOU WRITING.

i didnt even mention the issues regarding system stereotypes. i didnt even mention dark plaza since i was focusing on tko. i didnt even. theres so much. i need to stop. now. goodbye.
