so as you might know, mickey's entering the public domain on january 1st

what if we did something really silly to celebrate?

i know it's really short notice but we can continue to do it even after the date because well, he's gonna be public domain! so what if...we all made "mickeysonas" and posted them with the tag #mickeysona?

kinda like how people made spidersonas and linksonas and sorasonas but more absurd, something that makes people think...why though

a sona is basically a representation of yourself, so in this case you'd be drawing yourself as mickey! or...mickey as you? minnies are also welcome :]

ANOTHER silly idea i had was to coin a term, a "mickey mouse", meaning an iconic or flagship character. like mario is nintendo's mickey mouse and pikachu is pokemon's mickey mouse. what if we literally just. started calling our main oc our mickey mouse. so show off your story's mickey mouse with the tag #mymickeymouse! will it catch on? probably not. but it would be really funny.

A beautiful man around his mid-twenties, Abel is someone thats difficult to judge at first glance. His calm expression and fixed amber gaze never seem to falter.

Having a wide variety of skillsets, hes proficient in many different common tasks- cooking, cleaning, sports, academics- etc...

However what he excels at is his dueling skills (his deck is Shinobird!), and his musical prowess. His greatest weakness is his inability to properly understand and recognize emotions- other people's and his own alike.

"You want me to introduce myself, huh...well, im currently a violinist- I work at Miami City's orchestra...but, in the past, I've...'played different roles across many different stages', is a nice way to put it. Oh, have I caught your interest? You want to know, dont you?

But, doesnt the mystery add to my appeal?

Annnnnnnnnnd...finally we come to the last (for now) of the main OTO characters; Bree, the younger of the adopted Lian sisters. Based off Bow Kid from my AHIT AU (though I might have accidentally ended up putting a bit of an IRL friend in her too, heh. Well why not--I based Hailey's body type off my own from when I was a kid :P) As you can see, she's the group techie, deaf, and despite being one of the few main characters to be fully human, has a fascination with cryptids and other supernatural beings, giving her a sort of rapport with Hailey once she learns of her curse, and what she really is. She is very much the middle child of the group and can be a bit too desperate to try and prove herself sometimes, but yeah, as you can see from the text, more often than not, she's more level-headed than her sister, and even mother :P Well, that's everyone for now--I *do* plan to add another member to this found family, but he doesn't come in until later down the line :P Meaning that I can give myself a bit of a break and finally start focusing on a certain OTHER project I've been wanting to get to for a while... Text for those who can't read it: 'Well, at least ONE of the Lians is normal... Bree is the younger of Samantha's adopted daughters, Maple's sister, and unlike the other two, she actually seems to have her head on straight. She's also a total tech genius, and really into supernatural beings! ...which I guess includes me now.'

webcomic/indie comic from the 2010s. basically a sci-fi short story about a young girl (with red hair?) who was being raised by scientists as part of an experiment. she receives a haircut/has her head shaved, in preparation for her annual brain scan/testing. it is revealed that while her body is human, her "brain" is artificial, made of computer implants throughout her skull and spine. at some point her biological mother (also a scientist on the same campus?) encounters her and is repulsed, viewing her as a machine who has murdered her daughter.

it was very poignant and it bruised my heart and i can NOT find it anywhere

the visual inspiration for this was a combination of Frederic William Burton's Meeting on the Turret Stairs and also Bernardo Cavallino's The vision of St. Dominic receiving the Rosary from the Virgin

this was supposed to be just a one off illustration to get the thoughts out of my system, but then I started thinking about medieval politics and warfare and plagues and a castle and home as both a place of refuge, a prison, and a tomb, so perhaps they will end up as ex voto characters as well.

you may say, hey! that rosary looks like it has too many beads! it's a fifteen decade rosary, probably. dominicans are really into marian devotions. it works out.

also. spiral style stair cases. oh boy. it was that unexpectedly more difficult than I originally thought it would be to draw. the more I think about it, the less I understand them, even though I had a million photos of the stairs in front of me while I was drawing it.
