I’m reading the second book of toa now and my fav thing so far is how through the apollo thoughts we get to know about other gods

like how apollo thinks that dionysus have a lot of bad habits but easygoing and cheerful are still his main traits

or how he describes ganymede’s face when he pours wine to zeus meaning that it’s not smiley or generous at all

or how he describes that hermes prefers sitting in the end of the sun chariot when it is a bus (because the coolest guys and hooligans always occupy those places and that how hermes presents himself)

reading this I feel like I’m peeking at the gods because that info is not what they usually share with demigods (for obvious reasons)

so it feels very nice and even intimate how apollo reveals smth that can help us to look at “real gods” (I dare say how painfully human the are) + how apollo sees other gods so we can see his gang friends (dionysus and hermes) and who’s he despises (like zeus or ares)

I wonder if Usopp planned to light the rope himself, or if he anticipated that Luffy would be able to do something like this. In either case, Usopp was the one who saved the day while mostly what Luffy did was buy time for him to work by keeping Mister 3 and Miss Goldenweek busy.

This is a good example of what I mean when I say One Piece is better at showing real teamwork. Everyone has a role that plays to their strengths and covers someone else’s weaknesses, and they understand each other and support each other. There’s no squabbling about who does what or even a need to really communicate a plan. The necessary communication all took place organically beforehand, in the way people learn about each other by paying attention and listening and understanding their friends.

I’m in a pjo phase now literally for 2 months right now (again since my childhood) SO I have some thoughts about mister D (maybe it’s obvious but I have never seen smth like this here)

mister D is shown as 30-40 years old man who do not care about his appearance and usually described gross and unkept (like his bristle, messy hair, chubby figure, constantly burping etc) AND his behavior is also unpleasant — he is rude, grumpy, lazy and sarcastic ,,,,

so from Percy’s perspective Dionysus is like nasty???? not only because of their barking at each other but because he represents the god’s vices and not the best parts

BUT what if it is not the real Dionysus??? like Percy never thought about and always assumed that it’s his real appearance and character

from hoo we know that gods can look older when they are tired and they lack strength and rest (so they also snap more often and become grumpier right????) SO considering Dionysus punishment he became weaker and older and worse version of himself because he was separated from his realm

we see mister D only prom Percy’s point of view so in reality he can be quite a different person (god)

I don’t say he would be nice and good (perhaps he will “love-hate” heroes as always) but he would be different for sure

so my main point is that I’m dying to see THIS new (actually old) Dionysus because I know what I see is just his worse version like — he is going through a hard time now and is not in his best condition OK and we should not trust everything Percy says (because I think he is an unreliable narrator)
