I think that until Scott or Noxcrew— actually scratch that, until all the men who participate in mcc stand up and say something about how awful the community they found treats women, nothing is really going to change, because chats and redditors don't listen to women and certainly will not listen to the three men that actually said something about it. This is the kind of issue that has to be pushed every event by everyone, nothing will change if the only thing done is a twitter thread. so guys im currently working on a painting and i wanna explain the meaning/inspiration of it :D

you'll see what it is when im finished, but uh. heres the concept. (kinda spoils it ngl). buuutttt there is an important moral here... and a massive vent.... so uh. under cut. woo.

for a backstory, i used to be a band kid. the instrument i played was a violin. i loved it from 3rd-6th grade. since i was "musically gifted", my teacher always pushed me harder than the other kids. i didnt mind it during primary school, but it was only when i started junior secondary (grade 7-9) with the same teacher in a different school was when i started realising how far she was really pushing me. i noticed my mental health getting worse as she pushed me further, even my parents were pushing me to keep going because of how good she was at teaching me. they didnt know how bad my mental health was. and so, i started to skip my lessons. i told her i wanted to quit. she wouldnt let me. i kept skipping. i skipped ensemble. i skipped lessons. eventually one day she found my science classroom and took me to her office. i told her again that i wanted to quit. she told me i couldnt give up now because of how good i was, and that i was the only thing holding together my section. thats when i realised i was being taken advantage of. i left her office. she called me back in, so i had to go back. i told her i wanted to quit again, and she finally let me. its because of her that i have less enjoyment in playing my violin. i practically neglect it. i dont play it, i dont tune it, i dont rosin my bow. i do try to tune my violin sometimes, but i forget how to tune the top pegs without them breaking.
