"I remember looking at Pete and Patrick and telling Pete, “You're the luckiest guy in the world because you found this guy." Patrick laughed. Then I turned to Patrick and said the same thing to him. They fit together so perfectly. Pete listens to electronic music and pop. He DJs. Patrick likes old soul and classic R&B. The fact that Patrick found this guy with this vision; Pete had everything for the band laid out in his mind. And the fact that Pete found a guy who can sing like that and take his lyrics and work with them - which is an art unto itself. It's really the combination of those two that really creates the sound and the songs. They're just really lucky they found each other."
Going to break into your house with pots and pans and yell at you until you reframe your thinking of productivity to include more than just schoolwork or a salary or chores and the like.
Did you do a thing? Was there a positive result for you or someone else?
Congratulations, you did a Productivity!!!
You aren’t ALWAYS going to be able to have the energy to do what we consider traditionally productive. You won’t always have the motivation.
Yeah, maybe you could have spent two hours studying for that test instead of 15 minutes. Maybe you could have cleaned the kitchen instead of the dishes. And? That’s still something!
Productivity is doing things!! Did you eat food and drink water? You did something that helped your body work! Doodled in class? You made art! Even just posting theories and memes on tumblr dot com is a thing! You thought out the post, figured out how to organize it (even if you don’t realize you did that) and you made it! And now other people can see and you DID something and you should be proud!!!
Be proud of yourself or I am going to show up outside your window tonight and scream positive affirmations louder than a cat who has just discovered her food bowl is empty.
There's something i love about sskk and the way life and death are dealt with in Beast:
When Atsushi is introduced at the very beginning of the story, he says he became the reaper (death itself) in order to escape from it, because he is terribly afraid of dying. he admits this.
When Akutagawa's arc comes to its turning point nearing the end, he admits the second man he wanted to kill was himself. Now his disregard for consequences and tendency to go in suicidal rampages makes sense. He doesn't think he deserves living.
Still, when Kunikida ignites that little spark of hope inside of him, he decides to keep going. and he's able to defeat Atsushi, who then asks him to kill him. Atsushi, deathly afraid of dying. Asks for the release of death.
And Akutagawa refuses and encourages him to keep living. He, who only moments before wanted nothing else than what Atsushi is asking of him.
Two men surrounded and marked by death at the beginning. A boy who desperately wanted to live and another who wanted to die exchange places, and at the very end, they both helped the other (in its own, convoluted way) see that life is worth living for.

"Seconds in command are a fascinating, if somewhat doleful, bunch: their labour is often as great, or greater, than those under whom they serve, and their character is less often blemished by egoism and hubris. After all, if it had been, they'd never have lasted very long in such a nearly commanding position. Sometimes, however, when the firsts are fallen, the story of the seconds takes on a grim and strange fascination: we yearn to see how they will perform when the mantle of responsibility is fitted to their shoulders."

huge fan of the idea that "you should be smiling too. aren't you excited? aren't you happy? you're going to be free" was once said by chara in the past

[ID: a drawing of the narrator from the stanley parable and dr pierce from superliminal, both from the chest up. they are both drawn as fat older men, but the narrator is in grayscale, with short slicked back hair, wearing a shirt, vest, and tie, and dr pierce is colored with purples and oranges with slightly longer curly hair, wearing a shirt, tie with a constellation pattern, and coat. the narrator is smiling in a mischievous way, and dr pierce has a nicer smile. end ID]
i think these two should be friends and maybe even lovers- [scribbles out that last part] but um i have google docs open and i am writing an essay about how superliminal and the stanley parable are similar but opposites and same with dr pierce and the narrator, and the Conclusion i am working toward is that the silly old men should date.
theres no clear parallel for hosea (yet) BUT theres . a lot to be said abt comparing dutch and bruce, and arthur and dick btw. theres something about being the prodigal son the first the one that created the mould and shouldered the expectations because of an infallible loyalty that may well kill you one day to your father figure. theres something about believing in an ideology that is not your own but eventually being Better, making your Own decisions once youve split and started making real friends. something about perhaps fathers being chains. also about having a younger brother who was your brother first before your father was his father too. who looks at your footsteps and tries to hard to fill them. who idolizes your father in ways youre not sure you can anymore. who if anything happened to them you'd probably tear the world apart.
