trying out some minor changes to gatsby's design. Im not quite settled on some features but generally i want him to have a softer fame and frame. i want him to have blonde/light brown curly hair, but it blends in with his skin too much i feel, so i still am working that out.

Another prompt from @fembot-prompts ! Would probably see it happening in the show canon. Or like after season 1?
"Hey, you should move your rook over-"
"Shhh!! We're trying to concentrate here!" Batsby hissed at Lace Face, who was judging at the bat botbots's.. well, not that great chess strategy.
Batsby's opponent - Game Over - looked at her in a bored expression. She yawned, "You hadn't make a move for 15 minutes-"
"Thirty minutes." Lace Face glanced over at the chess clock.
"Whatever.."
Lace Face muttered, "Why did we even try this?"
Originally, Lace Face and Batsby were supposed to hang out. Something like a jock girls night out.
The two Jock Squad members found Game Over hanging out alone. They asked her if she wanna hang out and play games with them. The game controller perked up at the "games" part and joined in.
However, Game Over wasn't technically sporty and couldn't keep up with them and Lace Face and Batsby absolutely suck at video games.
As to not make things awkward and have her feel left out, they decided to play chess. One: it's a sport. Two: Game Over wouldn't have to feel tired. And three: Kikmee said that it exercises your mind.
Now, here they are.
Batsby groaned as she tried to pick which chess pieces should she move. She already lost 5 pieces which was less than what the game controller bot lost and yet.. Game Over had her checked.
"What's wrong, Batsby? Playing safe?" Game Over teased.
The bat growled as she decided to make her move. She then moved her queen. Game Over grinned and moved her piece.
"Checkmate~!"
"Huh?! What?!" Batsby exclaimed. She looked over the chess board.
"You overthink too hard that you had your king open." Game Over explained coolly and pointed at the chess pieces.
"For someone who plays video games, you sure are good at strategy." Lace Face commented.
Game Over smiled. "I've played some games before.."
Lace Face chuckled as she patted a whining Batsby.

Okay so I have been thinking a lot about the twilight renaissance and i have also been thinking a lot about the fact that the great gatsby is now public domain and anyway someone needs to basically just rewrite the great gatsby Except written in the exact same style and tone as twilight and obviously (Obviously) there’s vampires and shit bc it’s not a good retelling of a classic novel without undead characters
anyway
great gatsby with vampires

With the great Batsby and the mess that is the watch I realized something. Reimagining something in an adaptation is totally fine! It can lead to some great creative things!
If it is done in public domain. There is the great mouse detective, elementary and even BBC sherlock but you can still find or even make (unless your sherlock has emotions, thanks doyle estate) an adaptation of sherlock Holmes that is close to the source material. Reimagining a licensed source material will likely stop an faithful adaptation from happening for a long time. Even if the reimagining is great that is not ideal.
In the end it's the way copyright laws work that causes problems and stifles creativity. If the watch wasn't the one chance the city watch books had to get adapted to the tv screen in a long time I would not be so mad. I would just not watch the show.

What’s New In 2019: The Cartoons.
PART 1:
Separated by network. All premiere dates are estimated until confirmed. Timings are in EST.
NICKELODEON:
Tumblr media
- Los Casagrandes (2nd Quarter 2019): Los Casagrandes features Ronnie Anne and her brother Bobby Santiago as they adjust to their new life in Great Lakes City, where they now live with their big, loving and chaotic multi-generational family, the Casagrandes. In the series, Ronnie Anne makes new friends, build stronger bonds with her relatives and explores the endless possibilities of city life. Bobby helps Grandpa Hector run the family’s corner store, and becomes familiar with the neighborhood’s quirky characters. The Casagrande family was first introduced in the The Loud House special, The Loudest Mission: Relative Chaos. The special was just nominated for an Imagen Award, which recognizes positive portrayals of Latinos in entertainment media.
The Loud House is co-executive produced by Mike Rubiner (KaBlam!), who will also serve as co-executive producer on Los Casagrandes. Award-winning cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz (Coco) will serve as a cultural consultant and consulting producer for the five-episode arc of The Loud House featuring the Casagrandes.
The first six episodes will premiere during the airing of Season 4 of its sister series The Loud House.
Tumblr media
- Pony (4th Quarter 2019): Pony, an original 2D-animated buddy comedy that follows the life of an average girl, Annie, her (almost) average family and what happens when an excitable, unpredictable, loveable and talking pony comes to live with them in their city apartment. Pony is the first animated comedy series to be greenlit for the U.S. from Nickelodeon International. Created by Ant Blades, Pony is based off a short of the same name from Nickelodeon’s 2015 International Animated Shorts Program.Pony follows Annie’s everyday life as a 9-year-old, from working at her parent’s city farm, located on their apartment balcony, homework, school friends and, most importantly, her friendship with Pony. Pony is Annie’s biggest cheerleader and best friend, although sometimes his optimism and enthusiasm lands the pair in unusual situations.
The series will be starting with a 20-episode order and is set to premiere in the fourth quarter of 2019.
- Glitch Techs (TBA):  Glitch Techs (working title) is an adventure-comedy following two newly recruited kids as they battle video game monsters that come to life in the real world. The series comes from Eric Robles (Fanboy & Chum Chum, The X's, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan) and Dan Milano (Greg the Bunny, Warren the Ape), both hailing from Nickelodeon's Artist Collective, an internal artist-led development program, and is being produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif. Nickelodeon has picked-up Glitch Techs for an initial 20-episode first season.
The series was announced to be in production since 2016 and was originally intended to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2018.
Tumblr media
- Invader ZIm: Enter the Florpus (TBA): In Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus, Zim discovers his almighty leaders have no intention of coming to Earth, and he loses confidence in his own amazingness for the first time in his amazing life, which is the big break his human nemesis Dib has been waiting for. At some point, GIR rides a tiny donkey, and that’s all anyone should really care about. The 2D-animated TV movie is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank.
The voice cast also features returning Zim alums Andy Berman as Dib Membrane and Melissa Fahn as Gaz Membrane. Additional voice actors reprising their original series roles include: Rodger Bumpass as Professor Membrane, Dib and Gaz’s father; Olivia d’Abo as Tak, Zim’s Irken nemesis; and Paul Greenberg as Poonchy, one of Zim and Dib’s human classmates.
CARTOON NETWORK:
Tumblr media
- Infinity Train (TBA): Infinity Train tells the story of Tulip (originally voiced by Ashley Johnson), an analytical teenager with a fondness for order and solving complex puzzles. While it’s never exactly explained how she got there in the short, Infinity Train follows as Tulip makes her way through the titular locomotive and its seemingly infinite cars, each of which contains entire worlds that, for some reason, are in desperate need of her help.
Despite being joined by her sophisticated, bifurcated robot friend One-One (voiced by Jeremy Crutchley and Owen Dennis), the only information Tulip has about her predicament comes in the form of an ever-changing, glowing number etched into her hand that’s trying to give her directions she doesn’t understand.
The official premiere date of the series has yet to be announced.
Tumblr media
- Victor and Valentino (TBA):  Created by Diego Molano, this supernatural adventure comedy follows two half-brothers who spend a summer with their grandma in Monte Macabre, a small and mysterious town, where the myths and legends of Latin American folklore come to life.
The series first appeared on Cartoon Network in October 2016 with its pilot episode and is set to premiere early 2019.
Tumblr media
- ThunderCats Roar (TBA): Staying true to the premise of the original series, Lion-O and the ThunderCats -- Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat and Wilykit -- barely escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth. Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home. A bizarre host of creatures and villains stand in their way, including the evil Mumm-Ra, Third Earth’s wicked ruler who will let nothing, including the ThunderCats, stop his tyrannical reign over the planet.
ThunderCats Roar features a talented voice cast with Max Mittelman (Justice League Action) as Lion-O and Wilykat, Erica Lindbeck (DC Super Hero Girls) as Cheetara and Wilykit, Patrick Seitz (Justice League Action) as Tygra and Mumm-Ra, and Chris Jai Alex (Star Wars: Battlefront II) as Panthro. Victor Courtright (Pickle and Peanut) and Marly Halpern-Graser (Right Now Kapow) serve as producers, with Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) as executive producer.
The series is set to be released late 2019.
Tumblr media
- DC Super Hero Girls (1st quarter 2019):  The DC Super Hero Girls universe is expanding on Cartoon Network and into more graphic novels. From executive producer Lauren Faust (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic), the new DC Super Hero Girls cartoon will feature fresh redesigns of popular characters like Wonder Woman, Batgirl and Supergirl as they navigate high school and superhero life.
The series has been previewed with online shorts since 2015 and a short clip of an episode titled “The Late Batsby” was shown at San Diego Comic Con in Summer 2018.
For the upcoming shows from Disney and Netflix, go check out Part 2.

Let’s Talk #DCSuperHeroGirls
Normally, animated superhero adaptations avoid sharing similar titles unless they are about a titular character or team such as Batman or the Teen Titans. Then there is DC Super Hero Girls, which is the name of both an ongoing YouTube and upcoming Cartoon Network series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my thoughts on both shows, feel free to keep reading. There will be spoilers.
DC Super Hero Girls is a toy brand by DC and Mattel aimed mainly at a young female audience that highlights the former company’s female heroes and villains. It could be seen as their attempt to compete with similar franchises such as My Little Pony: Equestria Girls and Monster High. All three franchises have one thing in common: Their characters attend high school.
Tumblr media
The 2015 YouTube series centers around several heroes and villains attending Super Hero High. The school’s principal is Amanda Waller, while the teachers are a mixture of heroes and villains. The titular main team consists of Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Bumblebee, Poison Ivy, Katana, and Harley Quinn. Throughout many episodes, the group meet and confront multiple characters such as Beast Boy, Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and Jessica Cruz, The Riddler, Lena Luthor, Raven, and Krypto.
Tumblr media
What makes the show unique from other DC productions is how some of the villains are shown as being friends with the heroes. It is an interesting creative choice that mostly serves to highlight some of DC’s famous villains like Harley, Ivy, and Katana.
Tumblr media
At the same time, it also shows that they may have wanted to highlight the villains far more than their other heroes such as Miss Martian, Black Canary, Wonder Girl, or Zatanna.
Tumblr media
The show originally highlighted standard high school or teenage conflicts but in a superhero way, such as the characters winning awards, competing in sports, romance, and homework. By the third season, it mostly became a standard superhero series where the characters balance out their school work while also dealing with the bad guys around the school.
It has become popular enough to not only last five seasons on YouTube but also garner comic books, a half-hour TV special on Boomerang, and multiple direct-to-video films, some of which are based on the LEGO version of the franchise.
Tumblr media
If I had to point out any flaws, it would have to be how many heroes and villains are shown as either teenagers or faculty members. The show appears to heavily imply that the only adult heroes around are Batman and Superman (neither of which appear in the web series). Similarly, only a few villains are shown to be adults such as Granny Goodness, Firefly, and Trigon. This situation is reminiscent of how the 2003 Teen Titans series never showed or referenced any adult heroes aside from Batman. Like with that show...
youtube
The flash animation is somewhat inconsistent. The first four seasons look relatively decent for a YouTube series and are vastly superior to Warner Bros’ previous flash-based series Gotham Girls.
Tumblr media
Sadly, the recent fifth season looks terrible by the odd lack of shadows, static backgrounds, and limited character movement.
Tumblr media
The LEGO-based productions look great by comparison, mostly due to the high quality CG animation used for that brand’s direct-to-video films and TV specials.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A major positive worth noting is the show's wide range of voice actors, some of which are reprising their roles from past series. Mae Whitman, for example, played Batgirl for the series’ first four seasons after having previously voiced the character on Batman: The Brave and The Bold. Other actors reprising their roles include Josh Keaton as Hal (from Green Lantern: The Animated Series), Tara Strong as both Harley (from the Batman Arkham games) and Raven,  Khary Payton as Cyborg, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, and Hynden Walch as both Starfire and Blackfire (from Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!).
Tumblr media
There is nothing offensive or insulting about the web series. It is clearly not aimed at a general audience. Longtime fans of any of the featured heroes and villains might find it either degrading or disappointing to see them just going to high school rather than fighting each other.
Tumblr media
It has been able to coexist with DC’s other films and series as just another franchise featuring their characters. While it may have inconsistent animation and a questionable premise, it is definitely worth a watch just to hear the voice actors reprise their roles in a different setting.
As the web series is entering what may be its fifth and final season, the Cartoon Network reboot has already made its debut by “The Late Batsby” short currently being presented before showings of Teen Titans Go! To The Movies.
Tumblr media
(As a side note, I Highly Recommend that hilarious film.)
The upcoming reboot is from Lauren Faust, the series creator of Discovery Family’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Tumblr media
Based solely on the short, it heavily resembles her previous DC production Super Best Friends Forever, a series of comedic shorts featuring Batgirl (Tara Strong, reprising her role from The New Batman Adventures), Supergirl (Nicole Sullivan of MADtv), and Wonder Girl/Donna Troy (Grey Griffin) which originally aired in 2012 as part of the short-lived DC Nation block on Cartoon Network.
Tumblr media
In fact, "The Late Batsby” is a remake of the short “Time Waits For No Girl”. The alterations made for the new short were swapping out Poison Ivy for Mr. Freeze, giving Supergirl and Freeze each a line of dialogue, and introducing the entire team.
Tumblr media
Strong and Sullivan are reprising their respective roles of Batgirl and Supergirl for the reboot, while Griffin will reprise her role of Wonder Woman from the web series. The rebooted team retains Bumblebee from the original group but also adds the aforementioned Jessica and Zatanna.
Aside from the title and voice actors, it appears that the Cartoon Network reboot will feature a completely different story.
Tumblr media
The team now solely consists of heroes, Commissioner Gordon is once again unaware of his daughter’s secret identity, and the new animation style looks far more fluid than the web series.
While the reboot will premiere sometime later this year, the web series is still currently streaming new episodes. The franchise’s social media accounts have called the reboot team “the New DC Super Hero Girls” and the fifth season premiere began with a teaser for “The Late Batsby”. It seems unlikely that the web series will continue past its current fifth season and presumably end prior to the TV show’s premiere.
Tumblr media
On the bright side, Cartoon Network will soon be airing two DC animated series for the first time since 2013, the other show being Teen Titans Go!
Tumblr media
The web series is currently streaming on YouTube. The reboot will premiere sometime later this year on Cartoon Network.
Tumblr media
Until next time, thank you for reading!

Happy Five Years of Chameleon Moon!
5 years ago today, October 11th, my life changed forever - my weird, queer book came out, in its final form!
CHAMELEON MOON is a found-family story about queer (including aspec + polyam), trans, disabled people (with superpowers) surviving in a city that's permanently on fire, where they're all expected to shut up and die in silence for the world's convenience. They decide to... not do that.
Since then, I've been a full-time author, artist, and interactive fiction game writer, doing more weird, queer things than you can sneeze at (STAKE SAUCE, DAWNFALL, THE GREAT BATSBY, EVERY BEAT BELONGS TO YOU)! It's been rough, especially with *waves @ everything* but the real treasure has been the friends I made along the way. <3
So to celebrate...
--> The entire CHAMELEON MOON series so far is entirely free, for one day only. <--
Yes, for exactly Zero Dollars, you get:
CHAMELEON MOON
CM BOOK 2: THE LIFELINE SIGNAL
LIFE WITHIN PAROLE volumes 1 and 2 (~20 short stories!)
DATE THE LIZARD (a tiny interactive fiction game where you can... date a cute lizard boy!)
Thank you for five years. <3 Here's to a lot more.

Home Entertainment Consumer Guide: November 8, 2018
10 NEW TO NETFLIX
"Bram Stoker's Dracula" "Cape Fear" "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" "Filmworker" "Ghostbusters" "Morris From America" "National Lampoon's Animal House" "The Raid: Redemption" "United 93"
6 NEW TO BLU-RAY/DVD
"12 Monkeys" (Arrow)
Terry Gilliam emerged from the world of Monty Python and became one of the most fascinating director of the '80s and '90s, directing masterpieces like "Brazil" and "The Fisher King," both available in the Criterion Collection. To be honest, I remembered liking his Oscar-nominated 1996 loose adaptation of "La Jetee" but kind of put it on Gilliam's second tier. It's closer to the first, as evidenced in this gorgeous new Blu-ray release from Arrow Home Video. First of all, the 4K restoration is mindblowing, one of the best HD transfers of the year. Gilliam's world has depth and nuance in ways that it never has before, enhancing the overlal experience of the film. Second, the film's themes of responsibility and that form of insanity when it feels like you're the only person who really knows what's going on in the world still resonate. I still have some performance issues (Stowe, an actress I usually like, is bland) but this is the kind of visual feast that's perfect for a company that loves movies like Arrow. It gets me even more excited for next year's "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote."
Buy it here
Special Features Brand new restoration from a 4K scan of the original negative by Arrow Films, approved by director Terry Gilliam Optional DTS 5.1 Master Audio and 2.0 stereo soundtracks Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing Audio commentary by Terry Gilliam and producer Charles Roven The Hamster Factor and Other Tales of Twelve Monkeys, feature-length making-of documentary by Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe (Lost in La Mancha) The Film Exchange with Terry Gilliam, a 1996 interview with Gilliam and critic Jonathan Romney, recorded at the London Film Festival Brand-new appreciation by Ian Christie, author of Gilliam on Gilliam The Twelve Monkeys Archives Theatrical trailer Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Gary Pullin
"BlacKkKlansman"
Speaking of filmmakers who meant the world to me in the '80s and '90s, one of my favorite film stories of 2018 has to be the critical adoration for Spike Lee's latest film, one of his most searing and impressive in his recent filmography. I don't go in for the "Return to Form" stories around this flick though because Lee never really dropped as much as people think ("Chi-raq" is great) and I also think this movie is a tier just below his career best films like "Malcolm X," "Do the Right Thing," and "25th Hour." However, I'd be fine if it overperformed during awards season just to make up for the dozen or so times that Spike Lee was taken for granted this time of year. It's passionate, fascinating, funny, and moving, with great performances and more ideas for viewers to dissect and discuss than a dozen other films combined. It's an essential film of 2018.

Special Features A Spike Lee Joint - Ron Stallworth, Jordan Peele, and the cast discuss working with the iconic director BlacKkKlansman Extended Trailer Featuring Prince's "Mary Don't You Weep"
"The Incredibles 2"
Does Pixar know something we don't? For years, everyone clamored for a sequel to "The Incredibles," to the point that it looked like it might never happen or people might not care when it eventually did. Of course, it did happen and it was GIGANTIC. It's the highest grosssing film in the history of Pixar, bringing in over $600 million domestically and over a billion worldwide. It is the ninth highest grossing film OF ALL TIME, and the highest grossing animated film of all time. Oh, and it's gonna win an Oscar for Best Animated Film unless there's voter tampering. And, of course, Disney/Pixar has delivered for fans with a gorgeous Blu-ray that includes a great transfers and extensive special features. One thing that's particularly nice is the inclusion of the short film that played with it, "Bao." Pixar often shuttles their shorts off to special releases, but it's nice to have "Bao" where it belongs, as well as a new short film called "Auntie Edna."
Buy it here
Special Features All-New "Auntie Edna" Mini-Movie 10 Deleted Scenes With Introductions Super Stuff  Heroes & Villains Ralph Eggleston: Production Designer Strong Coffee: A Lesson in Animation with Brad Bird  Paths to Pixar: Everyday Heroes  SuperBaby  Commentary  Theatrical Short: "Bao"  Making "Bao"  Outtakes & Stories  Character Theme Songs, Vintage Toy Commercial TV Spots, Toolkit Montage and Global "Incredibles 2" Trailers
"Mandy"
Little was more fun this Fall than watching the buzz that I heard at Sundance about Panos Cosmatos' "Mandy" filter down from the mountains and out to the rest of the world. A movie that RLJ basically tried to shunt off to the video market was too batshit crazy to stay there, resulting in sold out screenings at places like the Music Box here in Chicago. Movies like "Mandy" don't make over a $1 million domestically, but that's a threshold that this wonderfully strange movie crossed. And it still feels like it's just getting started. I've already lent my copy to a friend. I'm sure other people are doing the same. "Mandy" ain't going anywhere, and strikes me as one of the films from 2018 that people will still be watching in 2028.
Buy it here
Special Features Behind the Scenes - Featurette Deleted & Extended Scenes
"The Princess Bride" (Criterion)
Speaking of movies that persist, there may be no film released in more special edition DVD and Blu-ray sets than "The Princess Bride," which has gotten Special/Anniversary/Limited editions since the DVD was invented. It's hard to believe anyone who's had a DVD player for any amount of time doesn't own it by now, but the Criterion release offers ample reason to upgrade. Of course, it will always be about the movie itself, which has never looked this good, courtesy of a 4K restoration. Believe it or not, Criterion also found a way to produce new special features, including two about William Goldman's beloved screenplay, and an interview with the film's art director. The set also includes tons of archival material that was on previous DVDs and Blu-rays. This really is the ultimate release for one of the most beloved films of its generation. It's a great idea for a holiday gift for the movie lover on your list.
Buy it here    Special Features New 4K digital restoration, with 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on the Blu-ray Audio commentary from 1996 featuring director Rob Reiner, screenwriter William Goldman, producer Andrew Scheinman, and actors Billy Crystal and Peter Falk Edited 1987 audiobook reading of Goldman’s novel The Princess Bride by Reiner New program about Goldman’s screenplay New program about Goldman’s tapestry based on his novel Archival interviews with Reiner, Goldman, and actors Crystal, Cary Elwes, Christopher Guest, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Fred Savage, and Robin Wright New interview with art director Richard Holland Programs about makeup, fencing, and fairy tales On-set video diary filmed and narrated by Elwes Five behind-the-scenes videos with commentaries from 1996 by Reiner, Scheinman, and Crystal Trailer PLUS: An essay by author Sloane Crosley and, for the Blu-ray edition, Goldman’s introduction to his Princess Bride script from his collection Four Screenplays, in a lavishly illustrated, clothbound book
"Teen Titans Go! To the Movies"
The film adaptation of the Cartoon Network hit kind of flopped at the box office, opening in 5th place (although it's worth noting that it only cost $10 million and made five times that worldwide). I hope more people catch up with it at home as it's a surprisingly funny, smart movie that deserves a bigger audience than, say, "The Grinch." In a week year for animation, it's a standout, offering jokes that work for both kids and adults.

Quote
Professor Johanna Nichols on the history and fate of the Nakh language ..  Johanna Nichols ... Scientists who study the prehistoric world usually rely on stones, bones, and DNA to penetrate the past, but linguists maintain that words also preserve history. Two new studies, both based on endangered languages, present a new understanding of the identity of the mysterious ancient peoples, from the first farmers to the ancient population of the British Isles. Archaeologists have long known that about 10,000 years ago, the ancient population of Mesopotamia made discoveries in agriculture, livestock breeding, wheat cultivation, and barley. Also, researchers knew that 8,000 years ago, agriculture spread north to the mountains of the Caucasus. But they had little evidence linking the first farmers with the cultures existing today. People have widely migrated through the area for millennia, and there is no continuous archaeological connection with any single culture. Linguistically, most languages in the region and in the Fertile Crescent itself [1] are relatively recent, and came from another place. However, at present, the linguist Joanna Nichols of the University of California, Berkeley, has used the language to link contemporary Caucasian people with the ancient farmers of the Fertile Crescent. She analyzed the linguistic family of the Nakh-Dagestan language family, which today includes the Chechen, Ingush, and Batsbi languages related to NAHAM and about 24 languages related to the Dagestanis; In all these languages they speak in different parts of Russia (for example, in Chechnya), in Georgia and Azerbaijan. Nichols first established the genealogical tree of the Nakh-Dagestan language family, analyzing similarities in related languages in the same way that biologists create phylogenesis of species. She discovered that the three languages have a great similarity at the heart of their genealogical tree. Today, people speaking these three languages, live side by side in the foothills of the Caucasus, presumably it was the birthplace of the ancestral language - on the very borders of the Fertile Crescent. In order to approximately estimate the time of the origin of the language, Nicholls used a linguistic method that allows a semi-permanent loss of words over a period of 1000 years, and she determined the age of the generic language to be approximately 8,000 years old. Nicholls also discovered that the generic language contains the words of the language for agriculture. The Chechen words muq (barley), stu (bull), and tkha (wool), for example, all have closely related forms in the earliest branches of the Dagestani languages, as well as words for pear, apple, dairy products, All elements of agriculture developed in the Fertile Crescent. Thus, the location, time, and vocabulary all suggest that the farmers (farmers) of the region (Fertile Crescent) were proto-NAHO-Dagestanis. "The languages of NAHO-Dagestanis are the closest to the direct continuation of the cultural and linguistic community that gave rise to Western civilization," Nichols asserts. Population Genetics Henry Harpending of the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, has just started studying the genetic heritage of the Dagestanis, and he is amazed at the work done by Nicholls. "For many years, I wanted linguists to enter this study. And Nichols did it. " Nichols is currently restoring the language, hoping to find the key to the culture of these early farmers. But it should work quickly because these three languages Nakhsky language family disappear. Although about 900,000 Chechens still remain, the other two languages have a very small population. "All three nations are systematically destroyed by war, economic chaos, and the Russian system of education," says Nichols. Http://www.science.com/ Science 19 May 2000; Number 288: page 115 1. Fertile crescent is a conditional name of the region in the Middle East, in which an increased amount of precipitation is observed in the winter months. The term is a translation of English. Fertile Crescent, brought into scientific circulation by the archaeologist of the University of Chicago, James Henry Bradsted around 1900.
