IN FACT-- if you wanna play with parallels too--

Ed threw his leathers overboard, weighted as he was in his vision.

In his vision, he was met by mermaid-Stede.

We know that Ed has leathers again by some point in the finale, battling his way along a beach.

So what if

WHAT IF

My man is in his fishing boat, seeing that Stede's in trouble--

--and oh fuck, oh no, what does he do, what can he do, he threw away all his stuff, he doesn't have what he needs, he needs, he needs--

--and that is when, from the waters, something rises up. Something rises up from that place that has always saved him in the past.

Something dark, and coiling.

He stares down, and he knows this thing, it's the kraken, oh christ, oh no, it's the kraken it's his monstrousness his violence his grim arithmetic, it's everything he wanted to leave behind and he can't escape it, look, look it's here again...

...and then, down in the water, among all that twisting, mythological horror... a bearded face with big doe eyes blinks up at him.

A chimera, like Lucius's drawings. A kraken's tentacles but, but--

--also a man.

A man who looks just like Ed, but with coils of tentacles where the rest of his body should be. The kraken, yes, but Edward too.

(A mermaid is a beautiful thing until you remember that they're just another kind of monster.)

The creature beneath the waters, come to rescue Ed because it's needed, he called and it answered... it's Ed, accepting that he has skills and a history he can use instead of being used by it--

--and the merkraken? krakenmaid? Blackbeard--

--gives Ed back his leathers.

if they made future ruby stuff what kind of role would you want to see nerissa have?

Give her copious amounts of in-universe villain decay where at best she's a petty minor annoyance to Ruby's daily life and it peeves her off to no end that that's what she can amount to now because every other avenue she could've pursued she screwed herself out of.

The people of Oceanside know she's a manipulative creatin so nobody listens to her, the trident's gone so she can't hurt the krakens, she's all by herself, so lean into it and make her suffer as a comedic relief punching bag villain whose bloated ego causes her own downfall. Just like...

#splat dare #X #dare #splatoon #splatoon art #splatoon ocs #splatoon oc #my ocs #videogame art #chicken scratch #videogames #artists on tumblr #ok ok ok #so this is child splat dare's lore. their partents signed them up for some kids in stem test group thing where the kids whould learn about #science and testing out new super specials. this was right after splat dare was able to transform between swim and kid. splat dare was the #youngest in their testing group: Kraken Test group B (one of 3 kraken test groups) the summer program was abruptly cancelled after 2 weeks #with no explenation. dureing the first week of the program tho dare got to go though their first kraken transformation out of the lab! if #they ink enough turf they will unlock the ability to transform into their kraken form. except they dont know how long they will be stuck in #the transformation. if they fight off the tranformation they will eventolly be forced to transform and the longer they fought it the worse #of a migrain they will have afterwards. dare didnt realize what was happening at first untill after the summer program was canceled. after #the program was cancelled one of their group memebers went missing from their small rural town. time passed and dare grew up. eventolly #splat dare has the missfortune of running back into one of their old group memebers : X. after they brake into splat dares apartment. #X runs a gang in the splat lands and splat dare acsedently broke into their headquarters when passing though the splat lands so X returned #the favor. time passes and they end up doing solids for one another. they find out their the only 2 members left of the kraken test groups #that havent mysteriously gone missing (they all went missing but i will not come up with the lore reasons why becuse i dont have the time)

I'm just imagining mers basically forming pods of different types of mers. Like Megatron, going against his generally solitary species, forms one.

And him just having pups with several of them. Probably picked up Starscream, for example, while they were both still fairly young. Totally got Dreadwing and Skyquake from him because there's only so many twins to go around. And then Soundwave. Shockwave. And so forth.

Vehicons as like, sardine type of fish? Basically only they can tell the difference between themselves.

And then he takes over part of the ocean.

This was kinda my idea with the shark nursery baby pooling system? Just a bunch of mismatched children. He's got a pretty fair range of territory imo, with it overlapping with //several// other mer's (such as the dolphin mers or Optimus's!) Which definitely gives us a lot of diversity!

I can also seriously see Ratchet developing a pretty strong friendship with the dolphin mers (Roddie, Bee, Jazz, and perhaps more?) And definitely interacting a lot with Optimus oh definitely.

I feel like we can make him being oddly social compared to the other megalodon based sharkformers a ~thing~ and it'd be intriguing to explore? I could tbh say the same for Optimus, as I'm fairly sure mosasaurs are also typically considered to be a solitary species?

Also imagine said hypothetical Transformers NEST show recreates the scene where Megatron kills the DJD minus the void powers, maybe Megatron becoming a member of NEST with the lineup consisting of him, Blackout, Barricade, Brawl, Flamewar, Oil Slick, Strika, Thundercracker, and Slipstream.

I've been trying to marinade this in my head and I'm going to be honest... I can't really see this happening as the sequel to Prime.

Megatron after his possession from Unicron completely exited the stage and went off elsewhere in the wild west of space. To the point that the guy didn't have a return in RID.

The concept itself is interesting, especially with the decade of Autobot Megatron in the IDW/MTMTE comics and Earthspark, and the dynamics that could be explored would be chef's kiss.

There's the darker take of a personality/memory rewrite gone very wrong or very right, depending on who's asked.

Or to have the series set place as a post-war clean-up from a massive team-up against an even greater foe. It could have been the Quintessons, a corrupted Knights of Cybertron on a galaxy-wide and genocidal crusade to annihilate everything, or even a whole different Big Bad. Like sprinkling in details and visuals on what happened and what was lost and gained. Maybe You-Know-Who style to emphasize the immense terror and destruction they had wrought.

(Side note: maybe Cybertron had been completely destroyed, as in it's utterly dusted, no more planet. So that's why they're on Earth now. Too many other galaxies are too well-armed or under the protection of another intergalactic alliance. The remaining Autobots and Decepticons are stuck.)

It would make sense how it created a large schism within the Decepticons: the conflict of loyalty between the Decepticon creed versus the once Decepticon Warlord; mecha that are too tired or want to keep the fragile armistice versus those that want the hostilities to return.

Hence, why the DJD are an extreme threat as they hunt after the "traitors."

Or it can be the "community service" take. There are plenty of Decepticon POWs and not enough infrastructure and personnel to power the whole shebang. Upon review after the revelation that "Earth-is-Unicron," the planet has been found to naturally grow veins of crystal Energon, but the momentary wake-up of the Chaos deity had also reawakened quite a few creatures and beings that have been regulated as ancient myths and superstition. As well as distant neighbors from space.

Transformers NEST has somewhat of an amalgamation of the SCP Foundation and MIB.

It's the magical realism and sci-fi take I've been dying for. LET'S GOOOOOO
