A/N: I'm back!! Loved writing this one so much! Hope you guys enjoy :)
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x Y/N
Word Count: 3.8k+
Tumblr media
You never planned to change your last name if you ever got married. You came through on that plan after falling in love and marrying Aaron Hotchner. He, in his early fifties, and you, a little younger than that, fell in love quickly after meeting at work when he started there almost ten years prior. You were a zookeeper and Aaron was your area manager, the rest was quite literally history.
The two of you hid the secret relationship until he was moved elsewhere in the zoo finally allowing you to come out with it. Dating turned to an engagement turned to marriage. You became Jack’s, now 17, stepmom and brought in his younger brother, Riley who just turned 9, and sister, Madison who was 7, not too long after the two of you tied the knot. Weeks turned to months turned to years and you loved your life, you really did. But the kids were getting older, and you needed a bit of a challenge. Aaron joked about you joining the FBI and the idea stuck. You weren’t a profiler, no, but you would make a damn good communications liaison. You’d basically become that for the zoo you were working at anyway. Your position of zookeeper gradually shifted to communications lead throughout the park.
Your plan was put on hold until one fateful afternoon when you saw the elusive job posting come through to your inbox. You just kept rereading the job posting before making sure your resume was up to date. You wanted to apply but decided to wait for Aaron to make sure it looked as good as possible. He worked there for years, he had to have some tricks up his sleeve.
It wasn’t a few hours later that all three of your children and Aaron came bounding through the front door off to do whatever they had planned. You’d always offered to pick the kids up from their various sports practices after work, but Aaron often refused, he wanted to spend the time with them. You could only imagine how guilty he felt about missing out on Jacks start of life. He refused to miss out on any of Riley’s or Maddie’s.
“Sweetheart.” Aaron kissed your cheek as you finished putting dishes in the dishwasher.
“Hi hon.” You hugged his side pulling him into your embrace, “How was your day?” Laying your head on his chest you looked up to him with all the love in your eyes.
“Pretty uneventful. Mandy and Anthony were at each other’s necks again. The animals behaved better than people, the usual.” He hugged you back brushing a few strands of stray hair from your eyeline.
This was his favorite part of the day, spending time with you. The fact that he knew he got to come home to you warmed his heart. Too often before he spent time in hotel rooms instead of his own bed. Oh, how he loved his own bed.
You grinned, “They just need to hook up already. For everybody’s sanity’s sake.”
“Y/N!” He laughed squeezing your side.
You pulled away from him shrugging, “What? You know they only bicker like that for one reason. They both need to just need to get it over with. I think Tammy said she was going to kill one of them sooner or later if they don’t shut the hell up. Her words, not mine.” You pulled a beer out of the fridge handing it to him. It was a Friday night, neither of you had any commitments in the morning, why not get your husband a little tipsy?
He took it from you, happily, “Cheers.”
You clinked glasses with him giving him nothing but a happy smile.
“Anything we’re drinking for something?” He raised an eyebrow, surely profiling you.
Letting your head nod up and down you laughed softly, “How do you always know?”
He smiled walking closer to you, “It was once my job to notice.” He pulled you back into his embrace by looping a finger through your jean belt loop, pulling you right towards him.
“Speaking of that.” You leaned your chin on his chest looking up at him with a smile. You didn’t miss his eyebrow raise in curiosity, “Job opening just came through.” Handing him your phone you waited for him to say something, anything. He knew how hard you’d been working to set yourself up as the most desirable candidate. Often going to lectures and seminars. Inserting yourself in the world you were so far away from. Going to go get a criminal communications degree at the FBI’s favorite school, Georgetown. You wanted more, needed more than what you were stuck doing.
He nodded giving you another once over, “Honey are you sure?”
“I’m positive.” You smiled, “I finally graduated with my criminal communications degree. I’ve outgrown my position at the zoo. I think it’s perfect timing Aaron.”
“Okay sweetheart. Let’s go get that resume cleaned up.” He reached for your hand ready to get down to business. He’d do anything for you, and this was what you wanted so that made it what he wanted too.
Tumblr media
You weren’t sure how much Aaron had helped but you knew it had to be more than he was admitting to. He claimed he simply gave Prentiss and Strauss a call to put in a good word. You knew it was more than that when you got the compensation offer for far more than you’d discussed. You weren’t going to question it though. Your mom always told you never to look a gift horse in the mouth.
You’d have assumed Aaron had told somebody of your relation to him. That assumption was soon to be proven untrue when you met the infamous BAU Unit Chief Emily Prentiss from all of Aaron’s stories who was clearly trying to figure you out. When she asked you, “Are you married?” You knew she hadn’t a clue who you were. This was so Aaron to keep his two lives completely separated. A little heads up would’ve been nice though.
“I am. I have a stepson and two kids with him.” You smiled wondering how long you could play this game until they figured it out.
Emily smiled pressing the elevator button going up, “What are their names?” She was just being friendly. Knowing she was childfree for good reason.
You knew it wouldn’t give you away in the slightest, but it gave you the slightest thrill to speak his name out loud, “Jack is my stepson. Riley and Maddie are my younger two.” You pulled out a picture that strategically hid the younger Hotchner’s face showing it to Emily.
“They’re adorable.” She handed the phone back to you.
“Do you have any?” You asked knowing the answer. It felt odd knowing everything about her, yet she hadn’t a clue who you were. But you had to play stupid, or you’d make it pretty obvious something was up.
She shook her head, “No. But I have six agents that act like it sometimes.” She shot you a wink letting you get out of the elevator first. You got along great with the team after quickly recognizing JJ, Spencer, Morgan, and Penelope from Aaron’s pictures. Playing dumb was getting harder and harder throughout the day when you let it slip that your husband’s name was Aaron and that his son Jack had just gotten his license in a story you were retelling. Something they had just been told by him not that long ago. Surprisingly nobody picked up on anything, not that you could tell anyway. You weren’t a profiler but being married to one had you pick up on the small things that people normally glossed over.
When you got home that night you had Aaron howling with laughter after you detailed the day and how his old team didn’t seem to have a clue that you were in fact his wife of nearly ten years now.
“Don’t tell them. Let’s see how long it takes.” He cupped your face in his hands brushing his thumbs over your lips softly, waiting for your response.
A slight nod in his hands, “Any reason?” You asked, all too curious.
He shook his head, “Let’s see how well I trained them.” He laughed again. You joined in finding his joy more than contagious. More often than not he was in an incredible mood finding any and every reason to make you smile.
“They’re not doing so well Agent Hotchner.” You baited him. Taking a step back with a silly little smirk you watched his reaction.
He threw his hands up, “it’s only been a day sweetheart. Give them a week or two.”
“That’s a deal.” You grinned pulling his waist in for a quick kiss on the lips. Grinning when you felt him smile into the kiss. You felt those similar butterflies you always got from him. How he managed to make you swoon all these years later was beyond your wildest dreams.
Tumblr media
They in fact did not figure it out within a week or two. It had been a month now since you started working with the BAU at the FBI and they had yet to even piece two and two together. You’d given them your whole life story minus pictures. The only good excuse you had was that you were private. It worked though. Nobody pried. You provided the same courtesy to them too. Only digging as far as they’d let you.
Aaron had even gotten his longtime friend and colleague, the one you’d actually met, Rossi to play the game. He stopped by the offices every now and then to help the team when they were in town. Retirement was great but even he had to admit he was terribly bored. He claimed he needed to keep his brain from going mushy, so he had to help on cases.
He was having all too much fun testing the team, “Y/N.” He called bringing you back to the present and away from your mind.
“Yes, Rossi?” You looked up from the stack of paperwork you were powering through, definitely your least favorite thing about the job.
“How’s your husband doing? Haven’t talked with him in a while.” He smirked knowing only you could see his face.
He wasn’t technically lying. Aaron and Dave normally spoke almost daily. They’d been missing each other this week though, “He’d good. Said he’s looking forward to seeing you and Pat this weekend.”
Morgan frowned interrupting the conversation between the two of you, “You know her husband?”
Had somebody  finally started picking up on it? How was Rossi going to talk his way out of this one?
Rossi nodded, “Oh yeah, we go back years. Friends for a long time. It’s a small world.”
Derek nodded trying to get a better read on the situation, “They’ve known each other longer than we have.” You smiled. If the team hadn’t been so overloaded he might’ve picked up on it. But he simply nodded turning back to his massive pile of bullshit he had to get done before he could leave.
“That was close.” You whispered earning a soft chuckle from the older man.
“I’ll see you later Y/N.”
You waved, “See you Dave.”
“Small world? Huh?” Derek looked back up giving you a side eye almost as if he didn’t fully believe your story.
“Incredibly small.” You confirmed.
If he knew he didn’t say a word. It wouldn’t be that hard to hide if they did any sort of digging, which you were sure Penny had already done. Why she hadn’t told the whole team was a mystery unto itself. There wasn’t a chance she didn’t do a deep dive on you for Strauss before the FBI hired you. Maybe Aaron had gotten to her before you did?
You only laughed when you saw Rossi’s old pickup truck siting in your driveway as you pulled in after working later into the night. To your delight the house was quiet leading you to believe the kids were elsewhere for the weekend. Aaron always had a plan, always. Something you’d grown to love very deeply. He could take charge of any and every situation no matter how big or small.
“David, I thought you said you’d be over Sunday. Not that I’m not happy you’re here.” You grinned setting your work bag down by the kitchen island.
“That was the plan until this afternoon. Aaron needed to know how his team is missing every sign.” David poured you a glass of the chilled Pinot Grigio he brought over.
“They are busy Rossi, be nice.” You took a long sit of the cool wine.
Rossi smiled, “We have to send in the big guns Monday Aaron. Jack has to come in. Bring in Y/N’s lunch or something.”
“That’ll give it away.” You grinned setting the glass down.
He shrugged, “They’ll never figure it out at this rate.”
Aaron sighed, “I’ve got to admit. I’m a little disappointed.” The smile on his face betrayed his words though. He loved every second of this. And with Jack being off for the summer he didn’t see why he couldn’t conveniently drive him in to drop off his mom’s lunch.
The plan sprang to life when Monday rolled around. You couldn’t believe Derek had gotten up almost the second that Jack walked out of the elevator. Waving him over you didn’t notice any of your teammates watching. Unreal, what were the odds of that.
He’d almost gotten in and out unspotted, or so you thought, before Derek walked back over spotting the now grown Hotchner.
“Hey kid! What are you doing here? You grew another three inches since the last time we saw you a few months ago.” Derek roughed the teen’s hair up. You only grinned sitting in your seat, somehow he’d missed the entire interaction between the two of you.
“Just dropping off my mom’s lunch.” Jack smiled knowing what game he had to play too. The Hotchner boys were having way too much fun with all of this.
“She works here?” Derek asked, surprise evident in his voice. He didn’t suspect a thing.
“She does.” He didn’t elaborate any further knowing he’d give the whole gig up if he did, careful not to look back at you.
You watched as Derek tried to figure out who the hell it could be. Obviously it had to be somebody on the floor. It wouldn’t be long before he put it all together now, “Well I hope that means we’ll see you some more kid.”
He nodded, “When I’m not in school. See you later Derek.”
“See you Y/N.” He waved making sure not to blow his cover.
“Bye Jack.” You winked at him making sure Derek couldn’t see, “I’ll see you later.”
When you looked back over at Derek he was staring right at you, “Sweet kid.”
He nodded confirming what you had just said. Curiosity got the better of him as he asked, “Did you see who his mom was?” Missing the fact that Jack just said bye to you and knew your name.
You shook your head, “Afraid not.”
“Interesting.” He kept looking at you. Then to the lunch that was sitting at your desk then back at you. He had to know. He was far too smart not too. But he didn’t say a word.
Raising an eyebrow, you knew he was so close to connecting the dots, “What is?” Giving him a sweet smile trying your best to play it off.
“Hotchner’s kid being here. Last thing I expected to see today.” He sat down at his desk across from yours.
You bobbed your head along, “Old boss?”
Derek hummed turning back to his paperwork letting you know he was getting back to work. How he hadn’t gotten it yet was a little surprising to you but being bogged down with so much work probably did have something to do with it. You didn’t see Spencer sitting there at his own desk across the aisle listening in very closely. He did see Jack come right up to you handing you a brown paper bag before making a beeline to Rossi’s office. It didn’t take him more than two seconds after that to realize you were his old boss’s wife. How could he not have seen it? Sure, you didn’t take his last name, but he still should’ve put it together. You weren’t shy about using his and Jack’s names.
Spencer let out an audible sigh once he realized deciding to keep his mouth shut. It was clearly a game at this point. How long would it take the rest of the team to notice?
Tumblr media
You smiled looking at the team photos on the wall in the conference room. It was fun to see Aaron in his element outside of what he does now. It was hard to believe he was so serious and rigid. So different than the carefree man he was now. The one he was allowed to be after taking the retirement deal Strauss offered him all those years ago.
“That was is 2009. We were all pretty new to the team back then. Minus Hotch and Rossi.” Spencer’s voice spoke from beside you. That drew your eyes away from your young husband and back towards him.
“You all look like babies.” You laughed scanning over the much younger faces of the team members.
Spencer smiled, “I’d like to say we were naïve too, but we were years into it at that point. We’d seen it all, how awful humanity could be.”
You couldn’t fully understand Aaron’s stories until you had gotten here. This team truly saw the worst of the worst and stories only told you so much. In just your month here you fully understood. You got why he cautioned you. You could certainly handle it. It didn’t make it any easier though.
“Yeah, at least you had each other right?” You asked.
“Couldn’t have done it without them.” He turned pointing towards Aaron, “Without him. He did a lot for us. Miss him a lot sometimes.”
“He’s handsome.” You grinned not thinking Spencer had a clue of his relation to you.
He ignored you asking his own question, “Did you change your last name when you got married?”
You shook your head quickly, “No, too much of a hassle now a days. My friend got into a legal nightmare with taxes when everything didn’t switch over properly.”
He laughed softly enjoying your rambling, “What’s his last name then. Aaron what? Don’t think you ever told us, Y/N.” He leaned back on the wall grinning like a little Cheshire cat.
Busted. He had to have known. Do you tell him? Might as well, “Hotchner.” You bit your cheek to hide the little smile that was threatening to spill over.
He clapped his hands together, “I knew it.”
“Course you figured it out.” You laughed seeing the excitement of being right cross his face, “What gave it away?”
“Jack dropping off your lunch.” He scratched the back of his head, “It’s a little embarrassing I didn’t figure that out sooner.”
You shrugged, “It’s not like I’ve met you before. Plus, we’re more than a little busy here.”
“Is that why we didn’t get an invite to the wedding? He wanted to hide that side of his life away?” A flash of what looked like hurt crossed his face before a neutral expression took over.
You shook your head quickly, “Our parents didn’t even get an invite. It was just me, Jack, and Aaron.” You bumped your hip against his trying your best to reassure him.
Relief washed over, “Small wedding.”
You laughed, “Very intimate. We’d both already done the big fancy weddings. We wanted to make it just about us. It was incredible.” You admitted to him. Divulging another aspect of your life to him that had yet to come up. You’d gotten married and divorced. Married far too young with no plan didn’t make for a very loving and lasting relationship.
“Wait.” Derek’s booming voice came from the entrance of the conference room, “You’re married to Hotch?”
You spun around on your heal facing Derek and the team behind him with equally confused expressions, “Guilty as charged.” You smiled at them. You had to start laughing seeing all their expressions go from confusion to recognition to acceptance.
“Finally!” Penny let out a rather large sigh of relief, “I’ve been hiding that for far too long.” She shot you a wink.
Derek cocked his head to the side, “Why didn’t you say something baby girl?”
You spoke up for her knowing he was about to try and guilt trip her, “It was Aaron’s idea. Rossi and I just played along. Penny’s good at keeping secrets.” You returned her wink noting Rossi’s absence. He’d be so annoyed he missed this.
Derek’s jaw looked like it was about to hit the floor, “Well I guess it’s nice to formally meet you Mrs. Hotchner.”
Shaking your head you responded with a big cheesy grin on your own face, “He thinks he failed you all at this rate. We had a bet that you’d get it within two weeks. He took the under.”
“Don’t look so smug Hotchner lite.” He took two fingers and pointed them right at you.
The entire room erupted at that one, “Hotchner lite. I like that one.” You answered him once all the laughter died down.
“Alright,” Emily commanded the attention back from the room, “Hotch owes us all a round after pulling that little stunt.”
“That he does.” You agreed, “He said your all invited over once you figure it out. Consider this the formal invitation.” The team agreed before the day started and the case was given. Fortunately, the case was local.
When you got home late that night you found your husband quickly wrapping him in a big hug before spilling the details of your day. He stood there listening to every word like it could be your last. Just another thing you adored about him. He just made you feel so cherished and adored.
“Of course, it was Reid.” Aaron chuckled once you finished the story, “For as smart as they all are they can be so clueless sometimes.”
“That’s what I said!” You joined in the laughter with him as the two of you snuggled in on the couch. Neither of you making a move to turn on the TV, just enjoying each other’s presence. Leaning your head down on his chest your eyes drifted shut listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
“I love you sweetheart, get some sleep.” He ran his hands through your hair knowing that’d knock you right on out.
“Love you.” You mumbled before falling asleep on top of him, happier than ever with the way your life seemed to just fall into line.

Honey
Tumblr media
Pairing: Nancy Wheeler x fem!reader Summary: It's a shitshow of a summer and Nancy Wheeler has the prettiest smile you have ever seen. A/N: Hi! And welcome back! This is part 2 of Honey!! There will be more parts to come and just like last time, I am open to suggestions or other ideas! I have not yet created a masterlist but I am working on having that added soon!! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!! Okay, love you, bye! ----
Later that night, after everyone had been found and delivered to their respective homes safely, Robin and I started getting ready for bed.
“Nancy and Y/N sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-OW!” Robin howled out as a tattered copy of It by Stephen King bounced off her hip. “That could have actually killed me. Do you see how big this thing is?”
“Stop being dramatic. And stop singing that stupid song.” I spat back. The moment that Robin and I were alone and away from everyone else, she began her relentless session of teasing.
“I’ll stop singing it when it becomes true.” Robin shrugged. “I saw the way you two were eyeing each other. If you had told me last year that Nancy Wheeler, the Nancy Wheeler, was gay…”
“She’s not,” I interjected. “And you know, it kind of sucks that you keep rubbing that in. I wish I had never even mentioned this stupid crush to you.”
Robin stared at me with her mouth hanging open. The look on her face was somewhere between amused and annoyed. “Are you shitting me right now?”
I picked at the stitching on my pajama shorts and shrugged. “No, I mean, of course, I would have told you, but ugh, God you are so annoy-”
“No, shut up, not that.” Robin interrupted. “Sometimes you can be a huge dingus, even more so than Harrington. Nancy Wheeler is most certainly gay.”
I rolled my eyes. “Please, elaborate. I would love to hear more.”
Robin studied my face. “Hurtful, but I will elaborate because I am a damn good friend!” She threw my stuffed rabbit at me. “When you told me back in 8th grade that you had a crush on her, I remember thinking that there was no way in hell that would ever work out. Miss Fancy Nancy, with a girl? Laughable. Absolutely outrageous. And then Nancy and Steve started dating, which ya know I loved because finally, Tammy would stop looking at him with her stupid googly eyes.”
“Ah yes, the stupidest of googly eyes.”
“But oh so gorgeous!” Robin sighed, “Anyways, Steve and Nancy broke up, and then she was with Johnathon. And I always kind of wondered if she had a fling with Billy but I guess that’s one secret we will never know. But then I met all of them because of Steve and I noticed there was always something about Nancy that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. And then I introduced the two of you.”
Robin walked over to where I was sitting on my bed. She jumped up beside me and turned to face me. “I have a pretty intense gaydar.”
“Gaydar!” I exclaimed! “How could I think for one second you were going to be serious? You actually had me going there for a minute.”
Robin looked annoyed as she shushed me. “I am being serious. It’s pretty accurate. I know about Eddie, and Will too! Nancy never set it off before, but now she lights up the charts, and recently I noticed a bit of a ping from Steve, which I am still trying to figure out. But like, I picked up on you from day one!”
“You picked up on me?!” I guffawed. “Robin, I didn’t even know until we were older, and when I told you, you seemed pretty shocked.”
“That’s showbiz baby!” Robin shot finger guns at me. When my face remained unchanged she cleared her throat. “I was obviously acting, and you weren’t subtle. I watched you drool over all kinds of girls. But that’s not my point. My point is the fact that you and Nancy want each other and there is a heavy attraction between the two of you that everyone picks up on. The sooner you two realize it, the better off we will all be.”
“Do you honestly hear yourself sometimes?”
“Not always, no.” She shook her head.
“Nancy is with Johnathon, and what you are probably feeling is the awkward tension I’m exuding. I love you, but sometimes, you can be a pretty big dingus yourself.”
Shocked, Robin replied, “Don’t use my word against me! And you’re wrong, but I guess you’ll be finding that out on your own.”
“Whatever, weirdo. I’m going to bed.” I said shoving her to her side and pulling back the covers. Robin laughed and pulled her side back too. She tucked herself in and rolled onto her side facing away from me.
“Goodnight, Y/N. Sweet, Nancy dreams!” She singsonged. I just turned off the bedside lamp in response, cloaking us in total darkness.

The Family Video store parking lot was empty as I chained my bike to the rack outside. It wasn’t unusual to see the space uninhabited so early in the mornings. Most people preferred to rent and return their movies in the evenings. Which was perfectly fine with me, as it gave me time to spend with my friends.
The bell above the door jingled as I pushed it open and stepped in. Steve was standing at the counter stacking blank membership cards into a house of cards. He was fully concentrated on his task, making each move carefully and slowly. He never once looked up, eyes locked in on the house of cards. His tongue was poking out between his lips and his eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
“Good morning, Steve.” I called out, walking towards the back of the store. No reply.
I continued through the store, glancing at familiar titles as I approached the ‘Employee Only’ section. The door was already open so I popped my head inside. Robin was sitting with her back to me, slumped onto the desk, sleeping.
“What are you doing?!” I yelled out, trying to hide my smile. Robin jumped up instantly knocking over her chair and spilling VHSs to the ground. She turned around quickly with a panicked expression that very quickly turned to one of annoyance.
“You’re such a bitch,” she breathed out.
“I just can’t believe you would sleep on the job, and leave poor, defenseless Steve out there to all those horrid customers. Plus, you slept at my house last night, peacefully too, why are you so tired?” I pulled two bananas from my bag and handed her one. She stretched and yawned before accepting it.
“I never sleep peacefully at your house. You snore like a freight train.” Robin muttered, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
“Son of a -” Steve yelled out from the front. Robin and I exchanged glances before going to investigate.
There were blank membership cards all over the floor and counter. Steve stood there in a defeated stance, one card still in hand. He looked at us like we were the ones who knocked over his tower before dropping the other card he was holding. It hit the floor with a light clack against another card.
“I’m not helping you pick those up.” Robin deadpanned. They both started to argue before Robin caught Steve in a headlock. He finally agreed to pick them up but not before sharing his thoughts on Robin's aggression.
“You really need to look into therapy, wacko.”
“And you really need to grow up, dingus.”
I turned to Robin and interrupted them before they could continue. “Why did I need to meet you here so early?”
“Oh yeah, here.” She said, handing me a pair of keys. “You and Nancy are going to do some recon for us.”
“W-w-wait, what?” I stuttered out.
“You, and, Nancy, are, going, to, do, some, recon, for, us.” Robin repeated herself, much slower.
“I heard you the first time bu–”
“If you heard me why did you say what?” She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. Steve laughed from the floor.
“Why me and Nancy? Why not Johnathon? Or Eddie?”
Steve stood up, stacking the cards he had picked up from the floor by the register. “Because no one else is available. Robin and I are working. Johnathan is doing some photography for some old ladies' cats or something, I didn’t care to ask, and Eddie is busy.”
“Doing what?” I asked.
“He has that Hellfire club thing today.”
“He’s graduated. Why is he still running that? Shouldn’t he pass it off to one of the kids by now? And why are they even doing that today? They know we have work to do!”
Steve shrugged and leaned back down for more cards. “They do it for Will. Just let them have this, they’ve been through enough. You and Nancy will be fine, we just need someone to stake out the labs.”
I bit my lip and sighed. “What are we looking for?”
Robin handed me a bag. “Here are some snacks and drinks to get you guys through. We figured we might actually do it in shifts, and give everyone a bit of a break. Since the other crew couldn’t find more info on Vecna at the Creel house, we’re just looking for any activity, literally any activity, at the labs to show us where he may be.”
I was with them all when we last faced up against Vecna. He had hurt Max pretty bad, and we were all thankful she pulled through with 100% recovery. Even with that blessing, we still had a long way to go. Vecna had escaped from our grasps, not before taking a beating from Nancy and El, and things had been pretty quiet since then. Or at least they were until we had found another gate.
It was months after the attack, and a lot of us were injured and still healing when Dustin called an emergency meeting. He told us about how he and Eddie had found another gate in the woods by Eddie’s house. They had been looking for inspiration on their newest DnD campaign when Eddie fell through what they thought was a sinkhole.
We monitored it for months, taking shifts, mostly at night, waiting for something to happen, and it never did. A few weeks ago, Mike had gotten frustrated with no progress and demanded we venture into the Upside Down to look for anything that would lead us to Vecna. All of our searches turned up empty. In fact, we didn’t see or hear anything while exploring until yesterday morning when we crossed paths with a Demogorgon. Nancy and I had gotten separated from the group with the monster in between us and them.
I shuddered at the thought of the monster and its chittering. “No exploring? Just monitoring?” I asked.
“That’s it. Just monitoring.” Steve said.
I sighed again, turning towards the front of the store. “Alright.” I gripped the keys in my hand and threw the bag over my shoulder. “There better be gas in that car Harrington.” The bell above the door jingled again as I pulled it open and stepped out into the parking lot, heading towards Steve’s car.
-
The car ride to the lab was silent as I steered the car through the slight twists and turns on the winding road. Nancy stared out the passenger side window at the trees as we passed by. It had been a few minutes since we last saw a home, indicating that we were getting closer to the labs.
Nancy turned to me and smiled, “I’m glad we’re doing this together.”
My face flushed as my mouth got dry. I tried to focus on driving and not so much on how my body was reacting. I prayed she hadn’t noticed. “Really? Why’s that?” I asked her, stealing a glance.
Nancy turned to face forward. “We don’t spend much time together. I feel like I barely know you, and I’d like to.” She looked down at her hands in her lap with a slight smile on her face before turning to me again. “We have studied at the same school our entire lives, and I hate that it took us this long to meet.” She shrugged slightly and added, “but I’m glad we finally did.”
My heart did somersaults at the last line. I glanced at her again with a smile. “Yeah, me too.”
Nancy turned in the seat so that she was completely facing me. She propped her elbow on the back of the seat and tucked her leg under her, making herself comfortable. She reached for the snack bag and began to unzip it. “So, let’s start with some of the basics. Tell me, Y/N, what’s your favorite color?”
“Uhm, I don’t know. Pale pink?” I replied, turning into the parking lot of the lab. “Do you think it’s completely obvious if we just sit here?”
Nancy turned to look at the lab and then back to me. “Oh, absolutely. There was a small turn-off back this way.” She said pointing back to where we just came from. “We could park the car there and walk closer. At least then we would have the foliage to hide us if things get sticky. Speaking of sticky, did you bring any weapons, ya know, just in case?” Her eyes widened a bit by the last question.
“I’m not sure.”
We pulled off the road and made sure the car was hidden from anyone passing by, though there should definitely not be any cars coming this far down. I popped the trunk to see what all we could use. Nancy walked up beside me with the snack bag thrown over her shoulder. She threw a handful of M&Ms into her mouth that she had pulled out earlier, she turned the bag to me and I accepted a few.
“Let’s see,” Nancy began. She reached in and pulled Steve’s bat out. “This should work perfectly! What else do we have?”
I looked in the trunk. There were a few jackets, magazines, and cassettes mixed together. I also spotted a walkie-talkie and a pair of nunchucks. I raised my eyebrow at them as I picked them up. Nancy looked at me and together we both said, “Eddie.” I placed them back in the backpack just in case. As I went to shut the trunk I noticed a can of Farrah Fawcett’s hairspray. I picked it up and shook it, noticing it was still pretty full.
“Leave it to Steve.” I joked. Before I could put it back in the trunk though, Nancy grabbed my arm.
“Wait,” she said, reaching into her pocket. She pulled out a zippo lighter and handed it to me. Smiling, she recommended, “we should bring it with us.”
“Nancy we’re going to set all of Hawkins on fire.”
She shrugged, “let it burn I say.” And with that, she slammed the trunk.
—-
“Pale pink, huh?” Nancy asked. We were sitting on the grass on the edge of the woods by the labs.
“What?”
“Pale pink, your favorite color.” Nancy reminded me.
“Oh yeah! It is. What about you, what’s yours?”
“I like red. It’s just such a powerful color. It can signify so many different things, like warmth.” She said raising her face to the sun. “Or even,” she wiggled her eyebrows at me. “Danger.” We both busted out laughing.
Sitting here with her and talking came so easily. I was worried that we wouldn’t have much to say, or that I would make things awkward between us as I usually do with others. It was different with Nancy. I didn’t feel anxious or forced to carry on a conversation. It felt like jumping into a cold pool on a hot day. It was refreshing.
I leaned back on my hands and stretched my feet out in front of me. We continued to chat and laugh about all sorts of things. We talked about movies, music, and school. We talked about our family, friends, and work. Our conversations flowed together seamlessly and I prayed that this feeling would never end. Every time Nancy smiled at me or laughed, I could feel the butterflies in my stomach come to life. As cliché as it sounds, I could listen to the melodic rhythm of her laugh until the end of time.
“Okay, okay, okay,” Nancy said in between laughs. She had just told me a story about the first night Steve came to her house. He had mistaken the neighbor's fence as hers and jumped it, hoping to find an easier way up to her window. Instead, he came face to face with the neighbor’s rottweiler who proceeded to chase him into their pool, but not before ripping off his pants leg to his jeans. Luckily, Nancy had heard the commotion and was able to find a way to distract the dog so Steve could make his lucky escape. “Seriously though,” she giggled. “Let’s talk crushes! Is there anyone you’ve got your eye on currently? Or maybe you already have someone that you are keeping hidden from us?”
My mouth instantly dried up and my heart began to race again. I could feel my cheeks heating up and, had she always been this close to me? I could lie, easily, and say something stupid like that I have a crush on Eddie, or she probably wouldn’t be surprised if I said it was Steve. Did she know? Did Robin tell her? Maybe Steve did. My palms began to sweat and right as I was about to blurt something out, a line of SUVs sped into the lab's lot.
We both scrambled back into the safety of the trees and bushes and watched with wide eyes as they all parked at the front of the building. Nancy grabbed my hand and started towards the car.
“Let’s go, we have to tell the others.”

I'm rewatching Friday Night Lights....
And I swear I find myself crying every episode. Idk why lmao I just start crying at almost every scene. Even when something sad doesn't happen, I still cry. The theme song even gives me the feels. I also just finished the episode where Smash finally gets an offer to play, and he's playing his last game with the boys on the Panthers football field. I legit started bawling my eyes out. It gets me every time. And seeing Street become a father and fight for his family and their financial situation, I'm crying anytime he's on screen singing and talking to his baby.
Don't even get me started on Matt Saracen, aka QB 1, aka the loml. He forever has my heart. The way he cares for everyone, especially his grandma, ugh it destroys me. When he pretended to be his grandpa to ease his grandma out of her dementia episode. A king.
Tumblr media
Riggins is so fucking hot. Like fuck.
Tumblr media
I also see so many parallels between this and One Tree Hill. Maybe it's because OTH is my all-time favorite show, but so much of what I see on FNL. I find myself saying, "Didn't OTH do something like this?" lol. Smash reminded me so much of Nathan. The whole fighting to be a professional athlete despite their struggles. Chefs kiss.
Tumblr media
Coach and Tammy, being so supportive of one another, feels so much like Naley (another top tier fictional couple).
Tumblr media
Season 2 Julie/Matt = season 2 Naley lite. There are so many damn similarities, lol.
Anyways, watch Friday Night Lights if you love small town vibes and feeling nostalgic. Also listen to Scott Porter, Zach Gilford, and Mae Whitman's podcast covering FNL

"The Firm" (1993) review
*Baby's first published movie review
*At least 90s Tom Cruise is the height of pretty.
Tumblr media
Right out of the gate, I can tell you that this wasn’t the worst movie I’ve ever seen. It had a few good points for sure that I appreciated- I thought Jeanne did a respectable job as Abby, and girl was serving even at the funeral with that hairbow. Holly was also criminally underused as Tammy, who was my second favorite character in the book to Mitch. I missed queen Tammy. The autumnal aesthetic was also popping off and made me wanna eat some crunchy leaves. The jazzy soundtrack was good as music in itself, but a confusing choice for this movie that did not fit the mood and kept making me think I was watching “When Harry Met Sally.”
And that’s the extent of my praise; time to roast now. This movie is, I think, one of the most significant examples of why book-to-movie adaptations are always cause for some level of alarm. I could feel the filmmakers’ contempt for the source material emanating from the screenplay. The way that they were changing things even as minute and unnecessary as characters’ last names (Hodge/Hodges, Knauss/Krauss) and hair colors (Abby and Tammy are both magically redheads) just for the sake of changing them. And that’s to say nothing of the way the movie versions of the characters are devoid of any sense of nuance, and weirdly, sin? In the book, Mitch was a really interesting and relatable character because he was a person with flaws and inner moral conflict. He cheated on his wife (in a slimier way in the book too, I might add- no white knight scenario where he saves the girl and tends to her injuries) but never ended up confessing it to her, instead choosing to live haunted with the secret. He’s also a lot more demanding about money from the FBI and steals some extra from the firm as well, while in the movie he just gets a half a million and calls it a day. Additionally, he has a thinly veiled hatred for Abby’s parents and the book goes into much more detail about his own estranged family. Finally, his motivation for taking down the firm in the book is mostly about saving himself and the few he cares about, and less about going on some one-dimensional moralistic crusade full of monologuing about justice and the wonders of the legal system. But all of these flaws are what made Mitch human and his story interesting to follow. For me, personally, it’s not at all intriguing to watch a ~good character~ do ~good things~ out of ~good intentions~. Somewhat related but kind of opposite is also what they did to Avery- he was great in the book as the hedonistic loose cannon with no scruples who was slowly spiraling. And then in the movie they thought it was a good idea to throw in some weird redemption arc where he ~shows remorse for his misdeeds~ that felt so forced. Plus, this is me being picky, but Gene Hackman as a womanizing dilf was just not doing it for me.
Then there’s the plot, which had perhaps the most egregious of all the artistic blunders. Who on God’s green earth’s idea was it to water down all of the crimes Mitch had uncovered that the firm and the frickin mafia were accused of to… overbilling? The only thing Mitch gives the FBI proof of is that the firm was overbilling their clients? And then the mafia never gets prosecuted at all?? And this is noble and good for some reason because Mitch heroically refuses to violate attorney-client privilege and be disbarred, which in his state does not include if one’s client is committing illegal acts anyway so he could have literally turned over the mafia and still retained his damn license??? And this is also all on the premise that is trying so hard to be deep and edgy and philosophical: “well who’s really the bad guys, the mafia or the lawyers who protect them, huh?” Bro really thought he had something there but, um… both? It’s both. Oh, and then there’s no consequences for any of the information Mitch has given and the people he’s crossed, unlike in the book where he has to start all over in the middle of nowhere and leave everything behind, on the bad side of both the mafia and the government. In the movie, and I wish I was joking, he and Abby just hop right back into their old dinged-up car from the beginning and move happily to Boston like “Wow, that was a weird few months.” Ummmm... huh???
Overall, speaking of bad guys and their evil doings, the sense of dread, malice, and suspense that pervaded the book is just not there. I was constantly troubled by the feeling that something was Not Right, but didn’t know what, over the first big chunk of the book, and then once you know what’s going on, the stakes are so high and there is such a complex web of characters and their motivations and goals that you can hardly stand the stress and excitement wondering what will happen (which you do not feel sure about until the very last page). Sharing much less sensitive information and being on the bad side of fewer people in the movie, it’s hard to feel very concerned about how things are going to turn out, because the whole situation just doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. Nothing like the life-and-death risks of the constant chase from motel to motel and car to car over the last third of the book while Mitch, Abby, and Ray’s faces are also plastered all over the news.
This is all, of course, if one can even understand what is going on, which if you haven’t read the book, is really freakin hard. They tried to compress a book that’s more than an inch thick into a two-and-a-half-hour movie, which, though ambitious, is not a wise idea, especially when the book is already so convoluted with all its legal jargon and trying to keep track of all the characters and who knows/doesn’t know what. Honestly, the plot would have been much better executed with a “Fatal Vision” type miniseries, even just two parts, but preferably three-to-four. But alas.
The last thing I want to say, before I sign off of this unexpectedly long and hardass review, is: can anyone explain to me what in the fresh hell the random backflip scene was about? Because I can’t figure it out to save my life and it haunts me.

All of them please :). For the comfort good game :D
💖💖Thank you for the asks!💖💖
Let me start by saying CHICKENS IS AMAZING - and I highly recommend checking out their blog!!! (I’m not sure if being asked by you makes answering with your stuff in the questions weird?? But for clarification, awesome blog, awesome stories, great friend - if you’re coming from my blog, not theirs, check them out!)
Writeblr Emoji Game: Comfort Snacks:
🍔 Share a 1-2 sentence summary of WIP:
I pulled a bunch of the characters I liked from Stephen King’s the Stand, sprinkled in a heavy dose of OC’s, and plunked them into an original world (aka I’ve cherry picked all the elements I love about previous fandom worlds and smooshed them all together). It truly is self-indulgent bullshit.
🌭 Recommend another writer’s WIP post and tell us why we should reblog it:
@heirsoflilith has an original story Fragments that has a good concept and great characters that all deserve a damn hug (mostly), and I’m anxious to see where it goes.
🍟 Share a GIF that represents your current WIP:
Tumblr media
🌮 Recommend a writeblr who you admire and tell us what about them you admire: @asirensrage was one of the first blogs to interact with me from the OC community, and I’m still like… seriously - wait - what?? Cause her shit is top tier! And she is an amazing friend. Super supportive, and fun, and all around great person. 11/10 love them! And I would take a bullet for Kate (Tammy Thompson take on the Upside Down), just saying.
🍿 Share an out-of-context line from your WIP:
'Run'. It's the only word that came to Lloyd's mind. 'Run, you dumb fuck.'
"Think it's wise to cheat a stranger?"
🍩 Recommend a writeblr who is an all-around must-follow and tell us why you follow them:
@arrthurpendragon - She is the reason I was able to find so many amazing people on here. She is a fantastic person, super talented, and spreads positivity in the community. Organizing events, encouraging creativity, and promoting others works. She deserves all the love.
🍪 Share a song or music video that represents your WIP:
🧁 Recommend a writeblr who has taught you something new about writing and tell us what you learned from them:
@impuretale is the only reason I am writing in the first place, and she has taught me so much… I remember one time I hit a wall, and she listened to me bitch (😂😅😬), asked me what I wanted the character to do, and then asked me what would happen if instead of doing the wanted thing - they made it worse? And it made me realize I wasn’t looking at all the possibilities available for the moment, and the right one was, in fact, the ‘wrong’ one. But that’s just one time - she’s talked me through many epiphany moments…
🍭 Share a link to one of your recent WIP posts so we can give it some much deserved attention:
I'm behind on my story update schedule, and I reblog shit posts like a mad woman, so I don't know how far the last update post is buried, but here's a link to my main Pinned Post with links to just about everything I got so far.
🍫 Recommend another writer’s WIP and tell us why you love it:
@scienceoftheidiot has an original story they’re working on (Dead Men Talk Way Too Much) and I love what they’re doing with it!! Characters feel so real, and the concept intrigues me. Plus they have original artwork for this story (on @dr-fancy-pants) that is phenomenal.

part 2 of jealous debbie at the bar please 🙏🏼
Part two is here; Here’s part three:
Tumblr media
“Hey, Debs?” Lou asked, reaching out suddenly to take the brunette’s hand as she started to play with her fingers. “When I get home, can we—“
“Yeah,” Debbie smiled, answering Lou’s unasked question. “I’ll order us some food and lay out some comfy clothes for you.”
“Thanks, honey,” Lou grinned, squeezing her hand. “I’ll see you soon, alright?”
Debbie headed back to the loft on cloud nine, smiling at the thought of finally, finally, telling Lou how she felt and getting to hear how Lou felt about her in return. And then it hit her. She was going to tell Lou.
It was easy to say she was done running from her feelings. Done running from Lou. From their past. From their future. From all the talks they would have between now and forever. But it was entirely another thing to do it.
Debbie Ocean always had a plan, and now here she was, pacing the loft back and forth, without any sort of a plan at all. She had less than an hour. She’d laid out an old band t-shirt and some sweatpants for Lou, choosing some leggings and an oversized sweater for herself. The Chinese food had been ordered and was en route. All that was left now was the waiting, and the waiting was driving her insane.
“I’m freaking out.”
“Debbie? I didn’t even know you knew how to use your cell phone.”
“Shut up,” Debbie hissed into the receiver as she rolled her eyes. “Technology changed a lot while I was in prison.”
“Still,” Tammy sighed, laughing at the brunette until she collected herself. Debbie could hear her pulling out a chair. Probably still in her kitchen cleaning up dishes for the night. “Why are you freaking out?”
“I’m telling her.”
“Lou?” Tammy asked slowly. “It’s about damn time.”
“This is the last time I call you for help or advice, I swear,” Debbie hissed.
“Breathe, Debbie,” Tammy sighed. “This is a good thing. And I won’t take back that it’s long overdue. I’m sorry, but it is. But can I ask you something? What makes you think you’re ready to do this now?”
“I was able to break my routine.”
“The routine of you sitting on the couch until you become one with it while Lou goes to the club?”
“That’s the one,” Debbie nodded. “I went to the club tonight. Told her I wanted her to come early. That I wanted to talk. I’m ready. I’m—I think I’m ready.”
“You are,” Tammy spoke, shaking her head as she grinned invisibly at her stubborn best friends. “I mean you better be. Debs, I’ve forgiven you for it before, but if you go and break her heart again…”
“I won’t,” Debbie promised with a whisper. “I can’t. She means too much to me. She’s my who world, Tam. She’s—god, I’m in love with her. And I’m going to tell. And I’m really in it this time. All the way, I promise. I love her and I want to be with her and Fuck it, I want to spend the rest of my goddamn life with her.”

Chapter 13: Theories and facts
Words: 5.2k
Read on AO3
warning/s: none, just fluff and family time. jake being an asshole (affectionate)
a/n: thank you so so much to @gamer-purgatory and @scungilliwoman for reading through this and encouraging me throughout! you guys are the best, you already know! 🥺💞
It was soft. Were the floors in Dutch’s bunker always so soft? Felt like there was a pillow and a mattress under-
Sydney shot up.
She looked around and the first thing she thought of was how much brighter it suddenly was. And cleaner too.
And way too familiar.
Extremely familiar.
It wasn’t the floors of Dutch’s bunker anymore. It looked a lot like the clinic back at the Veterans Center. It was the same damn bed too from the last time she was kept there.
It was like fucking de ja vu.
And because waking up in different places was becoming a regular thing for her now apparently, Sydney went through the last things she remembered.
Kidnapped by Tammy and Dutch. Tortured by Tammy. Killed Tammy with Dutch’s help. Hugged Jacob. Saw her parents.
That was about it. Then she fell asleep in the car and assumed she’d be brought back to the compound. So what the hell was she doing in the Veterans Center?
Unless…
Sydney’s brown eyes widened as a terrible thought crossed her mind.
No fucking way. That only happened in the movies right? But honestly, it wouldn’t be surprising anymore…
She was in a time loop.
That was the only explanation.
It didn’t help that the white curtain in front of her moved to reveal Jacob, exactly like the day she lost her memory.
Yep, definitely a time loop. Maybe she screwed something up at some point and needed to correct it to get out. That’s how it worked, right?
She was so completely absorbed in figuring out what the universe wanted her to fix that she didn’t even notice Jacob walk up to her bedside.
“Hey, what are you doing up? You should get some more rest.” he said, his gruff voice filled with concern that Sydney thought impossible for pre-relationship Jacob.
Wait…
She narrowed her eyes up at him. “You know my name?” she asked. If she remembered correctly - and at this point who even fucking knew anymore - she told Jacob her name when they were at the compound.
Jacob paused for what felt like forever and Sydney was about to scream. He shouldn’t take so long in answering a yes or no question like that unless there was something going on, right?
Before she’d start losing it, with a heavy sigh, Jacob finally said, “Please tell me you didn’t lose your memory again.”
Sydney could’ve jumped up from the bed if she could. “Again? So it already happened?” she asked, confusion clear in her voice. If all those movies taught her anything, that’s not how a time loop worked.
The bed shifted as Jacob sat with her, and as lost as she still was, Sydney immediately delighted in having him so close to her again. She melted as Jacob touched her cheek with a rough hand.
They may only have been together for less than a day before she was kidnapped but the comfort she felt from his touch was instant.
His blue eyes were filled with warmth as he gazed at her. “You ok, angel?” he asked softly and Sydney almost flung herself into his arms. She wanted so badly to but first she had to be sure what was going on. “You’ve been asleep since we got you from Dutch’s place. Brought you to the center, didn’t want anyone in the compound crowding around ‘ya.”
Sydney’s eyes widened as she processed everything Jacob said.
Now that made more sense.
She huffed out a laugh. “Oh thank God. I thought I was having a Groundhog Day moment.” She couldn’t even imagine how many times she’d be stuck if she were. She was not going down that rabbit hole.
Jacob’s brows furrowed and he looked at her like she said she was leaving him for John. “Having a what?” he asked.
She flashed him a toothy grin. “Nothing, Jakey, nothing. So,” she said quickly, trying to divert his focus from her completely far-fetched and now proven false theory. “How long was I out for?”
“Did you really think you fucking… time traveled?” he asked, and Sydney could clearly see the amusement in his stupid smug grin.
Goddammit.
Sydney scoffed as she pulled away from his touch. “Shut up. We are not talking about this.” she said, shooting him a glare.
And they were having such a tender moment earlier too.
Jacob was still grinning and how dare he look so fucking gorgeous when she was trying to be mad at him. “No, no, no honey. I would love to hear more about what made you believe you…” To be fair he was trying so hard not to laugh, she could tell. “Went back in time.”
He let out a little chuckle at the end there. So close, almost made it through.
Sydney crossed her arms over her chest. Apparently they were talking about this. “Hey I woke up in the exact same bed from that time I lost my memory, and you just so happened to be the first person I see as well. So forgive me for thinking that wasn’t just a really good case of deja vu.”
“And time travel was your first guess?” He asked, mirth in his voice. He was loving this a bit too much it seemed.
She shrugged, still glaring at him. “Listen, after all the shit I’ve been through in the last couple of months, I think it’s a completely plausible theory.”
“Didn’t say it wasn’t, princess.” he said, a shit-eating grin still on his face.
Sydney was about to tell him all the reasons why a time loop did make sense but before she could get another word in, Jacob pressed his lips to hers, promptly ending the discussion as she immediately gave in to him.
She’d been stuck in that hell for so long she almost forgot how good his touch felt, to feel his lips against hers, to be surrounded by him. She almost sobbed as her hands went to either side of his face and she cupped his cheeks, feeling the rough patches of burnt skin and the prickle of his beard.
It felt so damn good to hold him again.
His kiss was slow, lingering, savoring, like he didn’t want to stop.
Honestly she felt the same. Hard to believe they were ‘together’ for such a short time and yet the joy she felt when she reunited with him made it seem like she’d been with him for far longer.
Jacob pulled away to breathe but Sydney didn’t allow him to go too far as she kept her hands on his cheeks. She wasn’t about to let him go so soon, not after being separated from him for so long.
Jacob grabbed one of her hands in his and tilted his head to place a kiss on the inside of her wrist. “Good to have you back.” he whispered.
Sydney smiled cheekily but it was hard to contain just how incredibly happy she was as her face warmed up and butterflies filled her stomach. “You missed me that much, huh?” she teased. She kind of liked it when he was being cheesy, wouldn’t mind him saying sappy stuff for just a few more minutes.
Jacob didn’t even blink when he said, “So fucking much.” So sure as he gazed straight at her with his blue eyes, and Sydney’s heart soared.
He sighed heavily against her, resting his forehead on hers. “I failed you, angel.” he said softly yet Sydney could tell the weight of regret laced in his voice. “Twice now. Twice I couldn’t protect you.”
Sydney shook her head, leaning away from him to stare so he could see her smile at him. “Jacob please don’t blame yourself. I was the one who let them get the jump on me.”
She was going to joke that she needed a score card now and if she got a few more stamps, she’d get a free planner, but Jacob didn’t seem to be in the mood. She’d remember that joke later, maybe tell Sharky instead.
“No, none of that was on you.” He started, his voice low with a quiet anger she knew he directed at himself rather than at her.
“I was supposed to keep you safe. The compound was supposed to be the safest fucking place in the county.” He finished, and Sydney’s heart broke hearing him. He’d obviously been holding this in for a long while.
She pressed a soft kiss to his lips and damn, doing that sent a jolt through her every time. “I’m here now.” she whispered against his mouth. “You still found me, Jacob.”
Jacob suddenly pulled away, moving to stand from the bed and Sydney felt like somebody pushed her off of cloud nine.
“That’s another thing.” Jacob started and there was still an edge of regret, guilt, and rage in his voice. “John found you, not me. Got the info out of one of Tammy’s people. And I didn’t even save you. I didn’t even…”
He paused, letting out a few deep breaths like he had to compose himself first. “You saved yourself, Sydney. You didn’t need my help.”
Fuck it.
She immediately hopped off the bed, which was a mistake as her head started spinning and the only reason she didn’t fall was Jacob was there to catch and steady her.
He looked like he was about to tell her she was crazy for doing that too but she spoke up first. “The only reason I was able to escape in the first place was because of that radio call.” She paused. “Also hearing you threaten her for kidnapping me was sexy, not gonna lie.”
He really did give her a What the fuck look then. Maybe it was her still being a bit sleepy, maybe it was the painkillers, maybe it was because she missed him a lot, but it needed to be said.
Anyway what was… Right, him helping her.
“I knew you would find me.” She smiled wryly. “Hell, that’s been your thing since before my amnesia.”
“Took me a bit longer this time.” he said, apparently not in the mood for some lighthearted banter, as his eyes conveyed so much guilt and regret.
“But you still did.” she said more seriously, gripping his arms tight and hoping he’d realize just how fucking much he meant to her.
When he hugged her as soon as she was out of the bunker, she never felt so overjoyed, relieved, safe, in a long time. Ever since she got to Montana actually.
It felt like she was home. Which was crazy since she’d been with him for less than a fucking day and he’d been her enemy for even longer.
This was the man whose people tried to hunt her down for months. The man who tortured her and basically ruined the entire The Platters discography for her for the rest of her life.
Yet she didn’t see herself finding safety and shelter in anyone’s arms but his.
She choked back a sob. Was she crying because she was so overwhelmed in realizing how much she cared for him? For how fucking cheesy she was being? Both?
Sydney laughed as a traitorous tear trailed down her face. Yeah, it was both.
“You don’t know how fucking happy I was when I heard you on the radio,” her voice came out shaky as she stared up at him. “Then when I saw you running…”
Her lip wobbled and she felt Jacob’s body tense under her fingers, his expression unreadable as he stared down at her. “It was really you. I wasn’t dreaming,” she said.
Seeing him the moment she left the bunker felt like she was walking out of hell and he was the guardian angel Heaven sent to get her.
And yes she did realize she just called Jacob an angel.
Knight in a camo shirt and unwashed jeans might’ve made a better analogy.
Either way, she knew she was safe the moment she saw him.
Jacob let out a deep exhale before pulling her into his arms, his firm muscles encompassing her and shielding her from the world outside. She breathed in his scent, the mix of pine trees and guns that she missed so much.
She felt him kiss the top of her head. “You’re ok, angel.” he mumbled into her hair. “Gonna keep you safe.”
Sydney smiled against his strong chest and held him tighter. Her body was aching and begging her to go lie down a bit more, but she willed herself to stand and stay in Jacob’s arms, much preferring the warmth and comfort his touch provided.
Jacob outstretched his arms just enough to gaze down at her brown eyes. Sydney wouldn’t allow him to let her go, not even if the world ended right then. Which you know, was entirely possible at this point.
His lips curled up into a smirk. “I ain’t letting you out of my goddamn sight. Every time I do, you run into trouble.”
Sydney huffed out a laugh, her body relaxing in his reassuring hold. Seemed like he was feeling better. “You won’t let me have any fun otherwise.” she said playfully.
She didn’t expect him to grin wolfishly at her as his blue eyes sparkled mischievously.
Uh-oh.
“Princess, I seem to recall us having a lot of fun the last time we were together.” he whispered huskily and oh God it was so not the time for her to flush and have her stomach do flip flops.
But to be fair, they had a bed right there…
She moved her arms up till her hands settled at the back of his neck. “Yeah but that ended too quickly, I think.”
He snorted and his eyes stayed locked onto hers as he gazed hungrily. “Really now?” he asked.
Sydney hummed. “Yep. Can barely remember it actually.”
His hands trailed down to her hips and Sydney just realized that she was wearing an oversized top and a pair of pajama shorts like she was at a sleepover and not a patient in a clinic.
He squeezed her skin gently as he pulled her body closer to his. “We could always do it again.” one hand went to tilt her chin up and their lips were just barely touching. Sydney opened her mouth as her breath hitched, just waiting for him to kiss her.
Then he flashed that wolfish grin of his. “Or you could just travel back in time like you-”
She pushed him away. “Fuck you. Good-bye.”
She raised a hand in front of him as she moved back towards the bed. Oh she’d almost forgotten how much of an asshole he could be.
A very cute asshole, but an asshole nonetheless.
Before she could lay back down, Jacob wrapped his arms around her from behind and he pressed his lips to her cheek, his stubble prickling her skin. “Even you have to admit I couldn’t not make that joke.” he said smugly.
Sydney rolled her eyes but allowed Jacob to continue holding her. “Did we ever establish that we’re together? Because I would like to break up now. Thank you and it was fun while it lasted.”
Jacob chuckled into her neck and Sydney couldn’t help but smile. She missed how easy it was for them to joke and mock each other.
“Like you really want-”
Someone cleared their throat rather loudly and both Sydney and Jacob turned to see who needed the attention so damn-
Sydney’s eyes widened as she saw her father, Nathan, glaring daggers at them - but she was pretty sure the look was really meant for Jacob - while her mother Penelope smiled warmly. She bit back a laugh seeing how completely different their expressions were from each other.
“Mom, Dad!” Sydney yelled and practically jumped out of Jacob’s hold.
She’d apologize later. It was best for all parties involved for them to avoid PDA while her father looked at Jacob like the latter just committed a huge crime.
She ran into her parents’ waiting arms.
“Sweetie you should really still be in bed.” Penelope said as she affectionately patted her daughter’s head.
Sydney hugged her parents tighter. She actually hadn’t gotten the chance to speak with them yet since she last saw them, when they were there to greet her outside the bunker. She had so many questions but mostly she was just relieved to see them safe.
“Did this asshole wake you up?” her father asked gruffly, and Sydney almost missed how aggressive he could be with anyone who even just thought of pursuing a relationship with her.
He said The shotgun rides shotgun when he drove her and her date to her high school prom and that was still one of his favorite one-liners ever.
And now it was funny to see him threaten Jacob Seed, of all people.
Before a fight could break out, Sydney stepped in front of her father, with Jacob directly behind her. She smiled up innocently at Nathan. “No, dad. I was already up and Jacob was just checking in on me.”
Nathan continued to glare at Jacob and Sydney dared to glance at the redhead, who seemed to be holding in his irritation and - she would tease him about this later - even slight embarrassment.
“Remember the ice you’re on? Getting thinner, son.” Nathan said harshly.
Sydney raised an eyebrow as she stared at her father. “The fuck?” and realized all too late her mistake.
“Language, Sydney!” Her mother scolded.
Dammit.
Not even ten minutes after seeing her mother again and she already swore in front of her. It would usually take her thirty minutes at least.
Hope County was a terrible influence.
She heard Jacob stifle a laugh behind her and narrowed her eyes at him. Like she was the only one in trouble here.
Jacob let out a heavy sigh. “I’ll let you folks talk. I think you need it.” He started maneuvering across the small enclosed space and stopped when he got close to Sydney.
The redhead smiled at her and she could practically feel Nathan trying to burn a hole into Jacob’s skull. “I’ll drop by again later, with food if you’re lucky.”
“Food left untouched if possible.” she teased.
Jacob simply shrugged playfully and Sydney rolled her eyes before the redhead excused himself, closing the curtain behind him.
As she predicted, her parents spoke at the same time as soon as they heard Jacob’s footsteps fade away.
Penelope said I like him as Nathan said Lucky I only punched him that one time.
Even though it was hurting her sides a bit more since her body was still sore, Sydney laughed loudly. It was worth it.
She missed her parents so much. She hadn’t been able to contact them since she got to Hope County, and she feared the worst for them when she realized the Collapse was inevitable.
So to see them now, both alive and well, she could’ve cried if she weren’t so tired and still emotionally recovering from her talk with Jacob earlier.
Instead she grinned at them. “I’ve missed you two.” she said, that one sentence not enough to convey exactly just how happy she was to see them again.
Her mother walked up to her and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “We missed you too, my darling.” Penelope brushed Sydney’s brown hair away from her face. “We had a feeling you were in trouble but we never imagined it to be all… this.”
Nathan walked up between the two girls and placed either arm around their shoulders, squeezing the three of them closer together. “Speaking of this,” he said, gesturing vaguely at their surroundings. “We’d love to hear your side of the story, kiddo.”
Sydney sighed heavily but smiled nonetheless. She did owe them that much. “Only if you tell me how you two got here.”
Nathan smiled back at her. “Hop back into bed and you got yourself a deal.”
-------------------------------------
General chaos, confusion, dealing with an impending international war and her dad having to scour Montana until he found her. That was basically the gist of her parents’ story.
Nathan was able to get both him and Penelope out of the city quickly when things were becoming crazy. As soon as they were out, their next destination was to find wherever Sydney was, which took longer than expected since no one knew exactly where she went, aside from Nancy. She eventually gave in after Nathan interrogated her repeatedly and told them about Hope County.
Of course when they were done recounting their story, it was Sydney’s turn to tell them all about her own little adventure in said county.
Explaining how she got her new tattoo was fun.
Nathan said he wanted to kick John’s ass for it while Penelope said the youngest Seed brother was still the one who found Sydney in the first place. Nathan grumbled and Sydney couldn’t blame him.
She would never be over the fact that not only did John fucking Seed trigger her memories to come back, he also helped save her life. Did she… owe him? It was not the time to think about that.
Thankfully she stopped that horrible trainwreck of thoughts when her mother eagerly asked, “So, you and this Jacob?”
Sydney half-thought of faking amnesia all of a sudden but they would clearly see right through her. Like the time she tried to get out of telling them she almost got suspended from school again for breaking Mark Stevenson’s nose.
What? He cheated on her friend! Her parents agreed he deserved it of course but the school still demanded a formal apology or some shit.
Propped up sitting on the hospital bed while her parents sat on two chairs by her bedside, Sydney smiled sheepishly. She was honestly not sure what exactly to tell her parents about her relationship with the redhead.
So Jacob and I met just as I was about to arrest his brother. Skip to him conditioning me into a killing machine - only applicable when I hear Only You by The Platters, that’s an FYI. Then somewhere along the way I found out he’s actually the sweetest, funniest, occasional jerk I ever met, and also he steals cookies.
That was a mouthful, also definitely needed some editing here and there. Especially the conditioning part. Big yikes. Probably just going to skip that and go back to it years later when the appropriate amount of time has passed to laugh about it.
So instead, Sydney said, “I know he can sometimes be a bit-”
“Of an asshole?” her father interrupted enthusiastically. Penelope slapped him on the arm and he just shrugged. “What? It’s true.”
“Harsh.” Sydney said, thinking that was the more polite way of putting it. “But he would do anything for the people he cares about.”
She smiled sheepishly. “And that, you know, includes me, I guess.”
She felt silly talking about Jacob Seed like that to her parents. Like she was telling them about some guy in school she just started seeing.
Penelope cooed. “I don’t doubt that, sweetheart. He worked tirelessly trying to find you.”
Nathan grunted beside his wife. “It took four fucking weeks… but he moved everyone quick as soon as we found out where they were keeping you.”
Sydney’s brows furrowed as she stared at her dad like he just grew a second head. Nathan rarely ever had anything good to say about the people she dated. So for him to acknowledge Jacob like that was an impressive fea-
“The man still deserved the punch I gave him, though.”
He still complimented Jacob, that counted as a win in her book!
Penelope pushed her seat closer so she could hold Sydney’s hand in hers. Sydney almost cried again seeing her mother’s warm smile, something she thought she would never see again. “You’re a very brave and strong girl, Sydney. You’ve been surviving by yourself for so long.”
Penelope’s brown eyes seemed to glisten with tears and Sydney was about ready to throw hands with whoever made her mother upset all of a sudden.
The older Williams woman reached for Sydney’s cheek with her other hand. “We’re proud of you. And we’re here for you. End of the world or not.”
Sydney held her mom’s hand tighter as she felt her own eyes start to water. She didn’t know what she did for the universe to deem her worthy enough that she could reunite with her parents before the inevitable collapse, but she was grateful for it.
She didn’t realize how much she needed to hear that from them. Jacob praised her for her strength as well, but it was also so nice to know that her parents were proud of her too. Whether they knew or not what she had to do to survive in Hope County, all that mattered to them was that she was a fighter and she was safe.
She sat up and smiled at her parents. “I love you both. So much.” she said in a shaky voice, not sure what else to say to let them know how much they and their words meant to her.
Whenever the world was ready to end, at least she had everyone she cared about with her now and she could protect them.
“Excuse me folks.” A new voice said, breaking the little family moment.
They all turned to see a man, most likely a doctor by how he was dressed, appear.
“Sorry to interrupt, but sister Sydney really needs her rest.” he continued, sounding very apologetic. “I’m afraid I’m gonna have to ask you to leave.”
Both Williams women turned to Nathan, the one most likely to argue with the doctor. Sydney was ready to say she was about to sleep anyway, when Nathan let out a deep exhale and said, “Ok, but only so she can rest.”
The doctor’s shoulders visibly sagged and his smile seemed brighter. Sydney didn’t blame him. He probably heard what her father did to Jacob.
Speaking of, she still needed to ask Jacob about that. She wouldn’t mock him about it too much since he did rescue her and kept her parents safe.
So just a little mocking would suffice.
“Thank you.” the doctor said, shaking Sydney out of her thoughts. “You can visit again later after she gets some more sleep.”
Nathan and Penelepe stood from their chairs and approached Sydney. Penelope kissed her daughter on the forehead, “I love you, my darling. We’ll talk some more later.” Then she grinned. “You still have to tell me more about how you and Jacob got together. Perhaps not around your father-”
“Ok, honey she gets it.” Nathan said quickly, prompting a laugh from his wife. He kissed Sydney’s forehead as well. “You did good, kiddo. Best daughter I could ever ask for.”
Sydney grinned as her father ruffled her brown hair. “Learned how to kick ass from the best.” she said.
Nathan and Penelope said their good-byes before finally taking their leave.
The doctor, surprisingly clean shaven for a Peggie, then turned to her. “How you feeling, dear?” he asked.
“Body’s still kinda sore but other than that I’m fine.” Then Sydney frowned. “Why? Is there something wrong?”
He shook his head. “No, no, no. You’re fine. Lucky, actually. A few more hits and you would’ve had a broken jaw.”
Sydney sighed in relief, hand absentmindedly rubbing at her jaw.
The doctor pursed his lips and Sydney swore if this man was an undercover assassin or some shit, she was going to lose it.
“Any… any nausea?” He asked hesitantly. “Maybe threw up recently?”
That question threw her off. But how could she forget about that? It almost got on Dutch’s boots.
She nodded. “The day I was rescued, yes. Why?”
“I thought as much.” The doctor said cryptically. Honestly where did Joseph find these people? Or did they all start speaking so dramatically after joining Eden’s Gate?
“I have some news for you.” he started slowly. “And I thought you might want to hear it alone first…”
-------------------------------------
Before the doctor left, he asked that she get some sleep. But after what he told her, Sydney could hardly keep still, the only thing keeping her in bed was that she wasn’t sure where Jacob was, if he was even at the Center or the compound or wherever else he went to order people around and preach about culling the herd.
She needed to talk to Jacob. Needed to. She couldn’t go to anyone else yet. He had to be the first she gave the news to.
Two hours had passed by the time Jacob came back, and by then it felt like an eternity to Sydney. It was only when she could smell the familiar delicious smell of Elena’s cookies, that she knew he was close by.
The curtain opened and the first thing she saw was Jacob’s playful grin as he held up a white paper bag.
Despite the sweet gesture of actually bringing food to her, Sydney’s heart was pounding in her chest and was about to burst if she didn’t tell him soon.
But how do I say it? Just come out with it? Just blurt it out?
“Hey.” he said as he pulled up a chair to sit by her bedside and placed the paper bag on the nightstand.
Maybe ask about his day first? Ask if he has any news on Eli and the Militia? Ask how Joseph, Faith and John are doing?
Wait no, he knows I don’t care about John.
“Full disclosure,” he continued, completely oblivious to the inner battle she was having with herself. “I already ate two of ‘em. Got snackish on the way here cuz, you know, it was a long drive.”
How are the Judges? Culled more of the herd today?
“Your friend Ben said hi too, by the way. Joe asked him to stay in the compound for now.”
Ben! That could be a segue!
Speaking of Ben, hey Jake, you know about Ben? And his wife? And what his wife’s been up to these days?
“Joe also arranged for your folks to stay up at a cabin in the Henbane. They should be setting up now, I think.” He snorted. “He won’t admit it but I think your dad’s too much for even him to handle. One stubborn Williams is enough.”
Parents! Speaking of parents, we should go visit mine after this! Considering…
“Meanwhile you and I will be staying right here.” Jacob took her hand in his, rubbing his thumb over her knuckles as his blue eyes locked onto her brown ones. “Meant what I said about not letting you outta my sight.”
His gaze was too much and she finally said, “I’m pregnant.”
Jacob’s thumb paused its movements. Sydney watched him carefully as her heart started beating more and more rapidly, she could feel it thudding in her ears.
His mouth stayed open for a brief second before words followed, “What was that, angel?” he asked hoarsely.
Sydney couldn’t help it when her lips curled up into a small hesitant smile. “Jake, I’m pregnant.”

DECEMBER PROMPTS ❄️ — 4. MIKEY ; Bridge & Tunnel
Tumblr media
Dialogue prompt: “want to kiss at midnight?” + “happy new year, babe.”
A/N: this will probably flop like my gael one but I wanted to write for this goregous man. Bridge and tunnel was relatable to my life since there’s barely any shows set in college/after college lol plus each episode is pretty short so that was easy to get hooked in. Also attempting to get something short and sweet out before we bring in the new year, it’s only right? Happy New Year! Hope it’s better than the last two lmao. Be safe out there wherever you are!
*•*•**•*•*•*•*•*•*••*•*•*•*•*•^•^•^•^*•*
The cold in Long Island was something else. And one thing about you, you hated the cold—although you spent years getting accustomed to it as the world switched seasons, you always preferred tropical weather. Summers in Long Island were full of freedom for you, there was never much for you to worry about. Which is why the moment you received the opportunity to pursue nursing for a internship in Hawaii, you went. You regretted having to leave the island after six months but eventually settled in Florida recently afterwards.
Florida took time getting used to, it wasn’t like New York but you could never get rid of the New York in you, it’s not something you’ve ever wished for and you always found yourself coming back home (when afforded) or being in touch. So you caught a flight two days after Christmas to not only visit your big family but to see your old childhood friends.
It was late in the evening when you all agreed to meet up at the park you all used to chill some days after school. You pulled up in your two-door jeep beside a familiar car that belonged to your old friend, Tammy Ocampo who sent you a wide smile and gloved wave through her driver’s side window. Returning the same gesture, you placed the car in park looking out towards the dark lake and the twinkle of the city life.
Sighing you sat taking it in for a moment before you shut the car off, along with the sound of thudding hitting your driver’s side which caused you to flinch.
“What’s happening, y/n?!” The voice that caught you off guard belonged to another friend, “Pags'” Pagnetti who was also full of grins and wide arms as they shook your car.
Holding your chest you yelled, “you piece of shit, pags! Whad are ya tryna do give me a heart attack here?!”
Unblocking your seatbelt you huffed as you pushed the door open, not caring that it bumped your loud-mouth obnoxious friend in the stomach. The wind whipped your short hair back as you stood in the night as you reached out to continue your assault on your friend, shoving at his arms while he laughed; finally yanking you into a hug.
You rubbed at his back as you commonly did when you gave hugs, Pags was just this big teddy bear who had big dreams just like the rest of you. Usually he got the short end of the stick out of the seven of you but he never gave up—now managing multiple underground artists along with his sister and Jimmy’s sister’s band. The man seemed to be slowly but surely doing just fine for himself and didn’t have to lie about it to you over long detailed phone calls.
You wanted all of your friends to win and you hoped to see it. For now you were all just grasping what your dreams were made of and damn it felt nice.
“Ah, Happy you’re here, y/n.” Pags sighed, squeezing your forearms before he turned to his curly big haired significant other who watched the whole exchange with a small smile on her lips, “you remember Juliana?”
“Of course, how could I forget! Bring it in.” You stepped toward to embrace the girl who briefly leaned into you, returning the hug.
Juliana was fairly new to the group and fit in quite well, she balanced out Pags when needed and joined in on the conversations over the phone from time to time. She was more so Jill’s friend but you personally didn’t have a issue with getting to know her or her relationship with one of your very good friends.
“y/n! Is that you?!” Jill squealed from somewhere behind you, you saw her sitting on top of the bench as she cupped her mouth making sure you heard her.
It was impossible not to with anyone out of your group of friends, well…maybe except for Tammy who was more on the quiet and reserved side but each of you hardly had a problem being vocal with each other. There was too much history here for you all not to be comfortable with each other by now.
“The one and only, baby!” You called back, squeezing Juliana’s wrist before turning to make your way over to Jill now, noticing Jimmy also sitting by her—even after all this time, of course he’d be by her side.
The brunette hopped off the bench and tossed her arms over your shoulder to bring you into her thin frame. The both of you squeezed each other for a moment before she gripped your face to place a kiss on your cheek.
“My girl! Glad to have you back, how long are you in town for?” She asked, resting a arm across your waist as she began leading you back to Jimmy who was getting to his feet.
Sheepishly you answered, “not long. I go back on the sixth, the nursing field is no joke and never done.”
“I believe you. How’s that goin’?”
“It’s goin’.”
Jimmy cut in lifting you off your feet and squeezing your back, you were sure you didn’t need a chiropractor after that. He swung you around in the air like a rag doll before setting you back on your feet, “y/n! It’s so good to see you!”
“Likewise Jimmy boy! How was Alaska?”
You noticed him glancing at Jill who’s body language showed all you needed to know.
“Life changing. It might be permanent, might not be. It’s all up to me—enough of this serious shit we’re here to celebrate the end of the year, no?” He clapped his hands together as headlights flashed over you, just as Tammy was finally getting out of her car.
Your exchange was sweet just as the Latina was when Mikey and Stacey decided to make their presence known. The last you knew Mikey was spending more time with Tammy rather than Stacey lately so it was a shock to see him pull up with the blonde instead.
Tammy could feel your eyes side-eyeing her as she whispered, “we didn’t work out. It’s totally fine, don’t make it a big deal.”
You raised your hands as the two made their way over from Stacey’s red convertible with the top up, as to be expected. Mikey didn’t wait for Stacey, which was all the sign that you needed as he made his way over first. The man probably still didn’t own his own car so there was no need to jump to conclusions yet.
He went down the line of greeting everyone, the hug was a little awkward with Tammy but nonetheless she tried to make it not seem that way…although it was pretty evident that she was a little unsure.
“Y/N. My, my, what a sight.” Mikey held up your hand as you did a twirl in your winter attire, letting out a small laugh.
Mikey was always flirtatious, it was in his nature. You each had a story with each other: you were the first to find out Tammy’s crush on Mikey back in high school while he was too busy sleeping around with Stacey, and you were the first girl out the group that he became friends with before those two became friends with benefits. You were all there through it all, the constant high school drama and you were the main one putting Mikey in his place when be couldn’t get his head out of his own ass or Stacey’s for that matter.
So no it didn’t shock you that Mikey wasn’t in love with Stacey, that was something you been knew. And sure you knew that hurt Stacey’s ego but you and Stacey were always at each other’s throats: she felt like you thought you were better than her and you didn’t care for the way she didn’t take accountability for her actions.
You were last on each other’s list of friends, that’s for sure.
“I don’t think we’re looking at the same thing, Mikey.” The blonde said from behind his shoulder as she sized you up.
You let out a laugh, “it’s a good thing I love what I see in the mirror.” You brushed her off as you didn’t bother to make eye contact with her.
Mikey was all smirks as he peered down at you as you locked your hands around his waist, he cupped your head placing a kiss at the top of your head before bringing an arm around the back of your neck and brushing his fingertips against your shoulder to pull you into his embrace.
He was always warm and smelled like berries, cedar wood, and lavender. That man was full of light and potential. You hoped his art career took off for him as well, it was harder to get in touch with Mikey since he tended to disappear to collect himself. It was what he did when he went away to college and would pop back up with smiles that would melt your heart.
“Come see me later, yeah?” He whispered into your ear before he moved on to greet Pags and Juliana.
You were positive that meant just to catch up right? However with the way this man was looking at you tonight, all the friends knew something was shifting in the air but you brushed that off.
That was just Mikey for you.
The night seemed to pass quickly with all of you huddling together and separately downing beers and smoking joints. It always felt like old times full of laughter and shit talking.
“I just want you to know that I’m perfectly okay with what happens tonight. I won’t be mad. I think I’m finally starting to move on and acknowledge that things don’t last forever.” Tammy quietly said to you before Mikey pulled you away to walk along the water.
Why did it seem like everyone else knew something that you didn’t?
You could say the same…
You hugged yourself as you walked along the water as you and Mikey fell into easy conversation. He told you that he decided against accounting, thank goodness! and went after art thanks to Tammy’s encouragement, honestly—although a certain blonde would argue against that…
“That girl is very observant, I constantly thank her.”
“She just wants what’s best for everyone. That ones got a good heart ya know?”
Mikey glanced back at their group of friends to see Tammy laughing at something Jill said. He nodded his head agreeing, “which I feel bad for not being what’s best for her in return.”
“Right, what’s up with that?”
He shrugged, “just didn’t work out the way we both wanted it to. I found that my head was always elsewhere and then she started her business, on top of working at the diner and we were both trying to build something separately while soon not having as much time for each other, so to save our friendship, we both decided that we’re better off as friends. Wrong timing, I think.”
“Hm,” you listened, “so what’s next in the relationship department? I can never get in touch with you or hear anything about your life.”
“Right, Sorry about that im so dedicated to sketching and sculpting lately I have to remember to make time for the ones I care about.” He glanced at you while you kept your eyes ahead.
You bumped his shoulder, “that’s riiight, can’t forget about the people that knew you before you get famous, Joan Miró.”
He flashed his pretty teeth at you, “you think I’m as good as him?”
“It’s not about what I believe, it’s ultimately your own state of mind.” You gently tapped his temple in which he gripped before slipping his hand down to rest in yours.
You let him hold your cold hand, curling your finger around his much larger palm. The both of you fell into silence after that until you reached the end of the land that surrounded the lake. So now you faced each other, your eyes on the glittering black water while Mikey burned his hazel eyes into your skin.
“Question for you, y/n.” He carefully brought a finger to rest underneath your chin.
Your eyes flicked to his in question.
“Want to kiss at midnight?” He grinned at you, while you rolled your eyes and proceeded to shove him away as he laughed.
“Fuck off, are you stupid?”
“I dunno my GPA tells me different, Cariño.” He winked at you while you shook your head at the taller curly haired male.
He continued, “last I heard, you were no longer engaged to that moron and whew! that was the semester before you graduated right?”
“So you can keep tabs on me but I get radio silence from you, what is this, Mike?” You had your eyes in slits wondering where this was coming from and this whole exchange felt like it was falling on the serious side.
Nonetheless, he shrugged with a smug smile on his plump lips, “just how I like it. Got to keep the mystery going.”
“Oh bullshit, there’s no mystery to you. You’re just making your way around the circle.” You fanned your hands.
He quirked up a brow, “if you think I’m gonna go after Jill and Juliana next then you’re outta your fucken mind and might need a CT yourself, Cariño.”
You mocked the Dominican man who let out a laugh at your antics before you pinched the space in between your brows. The clock was ticking and none of you knew who would be here for a long time, nothing ever lasted forever. This you knew and Mikey was your first guy best friend followed by Pags and Jimmy, it was always you and Mikey in the beginning. Jimmy and Pags were tight since elementary and then there was Jill and Stacey who were always together. Tammy shortly came along afterwards and sure she gave you the blessing you didn’t know you wanted? which means Mikey was asking around about you and you weren’t sure how to feel about it.
Normally you didn’t think too much, you just went with your gut. You weren’t really a over-thinker.
“You really want to kiss me, Mikey?” You cooed up at the man who pressed his forehead down against yours.
It was his turn to breathe you in, “only with your permission.”
“Do your worst.” You replied and he didn’t hesitate.
He delicately pulled your hips against his although he was much taller than you, you fit into his comfort like old friends did, and he kept you warm against the biting air. He kissed you like he longed for this exact moment, curious as he took his time moving his incredibly soft lips against yours while you tried to soak up the taste of him for as long as you could.
You kissed almost everyone in your group of friends before, never anything serious mostly a peck and kept it moving but this felt strange.
Like you were falling down a rabbit hole that you knew you would have to claw your way out of. You were not meant to stay in Long Island and your lips attached wasn’t forever like your friendship. Sure Stacey and Tammy could look past it with underlying emotion in the mix but you always had a challenging type of wall up.
Mikey ended the kiss with multiple pecks to every curve of your face to lock in his artistic memory and you had to pry your own eyes open after that. There was no doubt this man knew what to do what his lips and now you could see what made the girls go crazy growing up.
That wouldn’t be you though.
“Happy new year, babe.” He said to you staring in your eyes like you were infinite.
You smiled nonetheless but you knew this would not be forever. Time was ending in more ways than one unbeknownst to your friends but you held on a little tighter and placed another lingering kiss to Mikey’s lips, which he grinned at happy that he got what he wanted.
And then the both of you headed back to your friends who were whooping and hollering into the night, as pops and lights ripped into the air; signaling that the 90s was here.
You all held onto each other, you tighter than than the rest, as your eyes filled with glow and the rest with wonder.

The Other Side - Part One
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jacob Seed x Reader, Eli Palmer x Reader
Rating: M (Language, Violence, Sexual Situations, Non-Consensual Interactions, Torture)
Description: You are the head of one of Eli's teams, and his sweetheart, then Jacob captures you.
- Part Two
- Part Three
- Final Part
War is never and will never be an easy road, especially when you are emotionally involved with the persons you fight beside. Brothers, sisters, friends, people you would do anything for, even die. That was the very case here, which made the decision of joining the Whitetail milita a double edged sword. On one end, you wanted to be near your friends so that you could protect them, but on the other end, being near them risked the possibility of failing them. You knew that failure, two tours in Iraq taught you about regret lived when someone you cared for died in the line of fire.
So, when Eli asked you to join his crew, you were hesitant at first. You knew about the fiasco that had been going on with the cult, you would be lying if you said you didn't have to fend off the cult members from time to time. You promised yourself you'd never give into to violence ever again, and you didn't. You willed yourself to stand free, away from those harmful thoughts and memories, away from alcohol and flashbacks. Eli's ask stood against everything you had worked towards, the progress you had made since returning from overseas about seven years back. He knew that, the both of you had surely talked about it across a campfire once before. You could see it in his eyes, the hint of guilt, the desperation of having you beside him. The two of you had been more than acquaintances, more than friends after his divorce, but less than partners. There was certainly always something lingering there. That was what made you say 'yes', that was what made you hurl yourself back into the pool of demons you had ridded yourself of. Him.
Three months in, after being a respective member of his main alpha team, you both made it official. This only seemed to make you more cautious about missions, about his safety, about the safety of the militia. It went both ways truly, but you never considered his feelings towards the matter as much as your own. This often led to arguments, loud shouting matches that never ended with a clear winner. The other militia members steered clear, sipped from their beer, conducted their surveillance ops, whatever kept them away from getting in between the two of you. One such argument took it to the next level, bordering damn near abusive at some point.
"I said, no! That's final!"
"Well, whatever you say I am still not going to listen to you! You aren't going out there!" In the past few weeks, Jacob had been getting more aggressive with his strategies, so much so, that it was starting to become too dangerous for Eli to leave the Den. Yet, for about a month Eli and you had developed a plan to cut off Jacob's weapons supplies. Such a convoy that took a path from John's region through the mountains and around to the Veteran's Center. It was a very complex, but heavily calculated plan, and you knew Eli was itching to be a part of it. Better you than him though.
"I'm in charge of this operation! Not you!"
"My point exactly, do you really think its a good idea to go out on a really important mission when Jacob wants your head on a silver platter?"
"The risks are the same now as they were then."
"Don't be ridiculous, Eli! You mean something to this cause!" You stepped around the map table and closed in on him, hands balled into fists, sweat on your brow.
"And you mean something to me." He muttered under his breath, those light brown pools not leaving your own, the tension in your shoulders dropped and you sighed. Almost instantly, the few standing members in the room began to clear out, even Tammy, who was Eli's strongest lieutenant left the room. You took a deep breath, stepped even closer to him, his head tilted down as he dropped his gaze.
"We knew what we were getting into when this started, El."
"If it was any other mission, I wouldn't mind, but this one is big." He finally raised his gaze, you grabbed his cheek and formed a sad smile on your lips, thumbs caressing gently at the scratchy skin above his beard.
"That's why I must go. I am the only one who knows this plan inside out and you are too valuable to lose."
"I hate it when you do this, (Y/N)."
"Do what?" He gripped your wrists with a sigh.
"Make it seem like I don't worry about losing you either." His eyes were like dark pools into another universe, and you wished for a moment that you could dive into them and be lost forever.
....
Thud!
The metal bowl hit the ground, slop spitting out from its edges and pulling its weight to sit on its side.
"There ya' go, sinner. Same as yesterday's." The peggie grunted, rot shining in his steely grin as he then trotted away from the cage, leaving you to your devices. You sighed, feeling the slop become more and more appetizing each day was starting to become a concern. No matter how hard you tried not to eat, there was no denying the hunger that consumed you. In comparison to those locked in the cages surrounding you, while they starved and screamed for your meals, the food was a luxury. Yet, you could not give Jacob the benefit of the doubt.
You eyed the tasteless grub, blotchy and red, with chunks of unknown substances stirred into its grime. It blended well with the dirt, that had turned soggy and muddy as the rain came and went. You prayed that that same rain would grace you, where it provided some shroud of comfort in this nothingless.
You committed to timing the guards on duty, understanding the cycles of prisoners as they underwent the seven days of hell that Jacob would put them through. You hadn't yet quite figured out how to get out of the cage itself, being so in the open, with an overall lack of materials, made the process difficult. It didn't help that as they days went by, one, two, three days so far, your thoughts had become more difficult to manage. Sleep was unattainable with the screams and the grime and the consistent playing of 'Only You' at the exact time every day.
Jacob would stop by at his conveinience, you hadn't been here long enough to see him make a habit of it. He would pass through while making critiques on the work his men had been doing. He'd stop and stare for a moment, meet your solid glare with his own and then continue on. It had become no question that he knew who you were and your significance. You hoped that Eli wouldn't break under the threats you were certain that Jacob had been pushing on him. Jacob had yet to conduct any torture on you. Upon first meeting him, it wasn't difficult to distinguish who he was among the fleet of peggie scum that stood around him.
The mission was obviously a failure, an ambush occurred, one of the Whitetails had been a traitor. You were so close to escaping before a peggie had managed to trail you down to the Henbane, knocking you unconscious. You were dragged into the prison-like walls of the veterans center, awakened by the shrill of terror echoing from the cages and the raw barks of crazed wolves. It was then that Jacob revealed himself to you. He said so little, but with his eyes you could see something stirring.
"Put her in one of the cages, I will deal with her later."
"Yes, sir." He never quite dealt with you though, although you wondered many times if he ever would. It didn't matter how. You would never speak a word to him, your love for Eli was too unconditional and strong and fierce. His authority resonated with you and you made note of it as one of Jacob's defining characteristics. He was like Eli's mirror, they would be friends if it was any other universe. For this, everytime that Jacob passed through, you conduct a thorough analysis. You would go back to Eli with all the information he would need. Not only on the compound, but on the enemy.
"Not hungry again I see?" You lifted your gaze from the bowl, so lost in your thoughts. You hadn't noticed that Jacob was coming around for his daily rounds. You hid your surprise at the fact that he was actually speaking to you today. "Is the food not to your liking?" His voice was so even, but strained, with his every breath, she could see his struggle. On the surface he was a strong man, inside he had his illnesses hidden. "I hope you don't mistake my kindness for weakness..." One of his men swiftly hurled the metal door open, grabbing the bowl and scooping its messy contents back in. "If you can't respect such kindness, then you don't deserve it." The peggie pulled away and returned the door to its locked and sturdy position. It was silent, but Jacob had remained posted at the bars of the cage, arms crossed, eyes focused. "I have decided what to do with you, wouldn't you like to know?" Those last few words were almost mocking you and taunting your existence. You could play games to, if that was what Jacob wanted from you for the time being.
"Kind of disappointed you didn't know to begin with..." You snorted and shook your head. "I thought you'd at least be somewhat prepared for this kind of situation."
"Oh, you aren't all that special. Maybe this cage has made you a bit cocky."
"Its not hard, especially when you're the person I have to look at all day." Jacob kept that composed expression, but you could tell the banter was getting to him. You felt you hadn't moved in days, but the effort to stand was well worth it. You grunted as you struggled to bring yourself to your feet, legs shaking slightly under you weight, and your head spun as you stepped forward. "Now, you might as well kill me, Seed. I am not saying a word." You inhaled sharply as you reached out for the bar not to far in front of Jacob, giving him your best smile.
"I already know everything I need to. The question is whether you are worth it or not." You smiled even further, feeling like you had won. For Eli. You knew Eli wouldn't dare risk the entirety of this militia and this operation and idea, for you. No matter how much love was worth, it wasn't worth hundreds of lives and the loss of freedom. The both of you had had this discussion before, however briefly and however painful it was to admit. The risks were a burden that hovered over the relationships, but the payoff always was worth the risks.
"I can promise you I am not. Eli knows the drill and I know my mission. I am better off dead than alive."
"Oh, you must be mistaken..." Your eyebrows furrowed and you couldn't help but swallow, your throat so dry that the sting lingered for a brief moment. Jacob's lips quirked up slightly and he stepped closer to the cage, as cool and as in authority as he was when you met him. Something was wrong. "Eli doesn't know I have you, and he never will." Your lips parted, the confusion deepened, further into your soul. "In fact, he thinks I've killed you already, isn't that somethin'?" You shook your head vigorously, not quite understanding-
"But then why am I here?! Why keep me alive?" You were the one that had become frantic, panicked, you lost your composure. Thoughts rustled through your head, all of which you couldn't control in this state, with this anxiety, and exhaustion, and hunger that coursed through you. Jacob shrugged, then so casually spun on his heel and started walking. "Wait! Stop!! I am talking to you!" You braced yourself against the bars, as tears streamed down you cheeks. Your greatest fear and you couldn't do anything about it. "Why?! Stop!" Jacob disappeared into a metal door of the veteran's center, its resounding slam emanated among the never ending chorus of screaming and crying from nearby cages.
You knew why: If Jacob couldn't get Eli to react with you alive, he would have to get Eli to react to you dead. And based on Jacob's smug glimmer, it was working.

Sarah Paulson's Characters After You Have A Nightmare
Tumblr media
Billie Dean Howard • Billie Dean hates when you have a nightmare, quite seriously. It's not because you disturb her, or you wake up screaming, or even because you soak the sheets with your sweat. It's because she feels so damn helpless that she can't do anything. She holds you every single time but this time she starts crying, her body trembles as she wraps her arms around you tightly. "I'm so so sorry darling I wish I could do something." She doesn't realize that she's already helping just by speaking to you and holding you. You end up falling asleep cuddled up to the woman as she whispered sweet nothings into your ear.
Tumblr media
Lana Winters • Lana is shocked when you wake up screaming. She shoots up out of bed and grabs the bat by her nightstand table, ready to kick some serious ass. When the reporter realizes it was just a nightmare she immediately gets into the bed and kisses your cheek. Asking quietly what happened. She brushes her fingers against your wet, sticky forehead. "Do you want to take a shower?" After you come back out she's sitting at the end of the bed with a pair of clean white cotton panties on her head. She tells you that she is the Queen of Dreamland and she orders that no more bad dreams will happen. When you smile she takes the panties off her head and she pulls you onto her lap. Kissing you deeply so you forget all about what happened in your dream.
Tumblr media
Cordelia Goode • Cordelia will cast a spell to put a stop to your nightmares, but not without your consent. "I have a spell to stop them but I want your permission." Cordelia never uses magic on you without consent anymore. One time she used a spell to give you a constant orgasm that lasted about four minutes and you ended up passing out and it scared her to death so since then??? Magic has always been a discussion before it has been used. After the spell has been cast she keeps an eye on you making sure side effects don't appear.
Tumblr media
Bette and Dot Tattler • Bette and Dot, well they are different when it happens. Bette cries because she hates when you're scared, nothing in this world matters to her as much as you do. Dot gets pissed and starts talking so much shit. "If your nightmare was real I would kick its ass I hope you know that. I can take it, I'm badass." You end up snuggling with them on the bed and you listen to how Dot and Bette argue over if mangos are gonna take over the world before you fall asleep.
Tumblr media
Sally McKenna • Sally wakes you as soon as she sees any signs of a nightmare. Sally doesn't sleep much and she spends most of her time simply watching you sleep. When your peaceful face turns she shakes you like crazy. She forces you to tell her. "If you don't tell me what happened I can't help you like I need to. Please tell me. Please tell me so I can love you and help you." She practically pleads until you tell her. Once you finally explain what you can remember she kisses your neck and pulls you in between her legs so you're leaning back against her front. She tells you about how she used to write songs and she sings you a song she wrote just for you.
Tumblr media
Audrey Tindall • Audrey will probably be away filming but as soon as you text her she's calling you on skype. "Oh, my love I will fly there today. Fuck this job." You actually have to force her to stay there and finish filming so she can complete her contract. Audrey would drop everything for you. She ends up laying in her hotel bed with the camera on her and she tells you about how things are going, making your mind focus on her. After all, she does love when she has your full attention.
Tumblr media
Ally Mayfair-Richards • Ally isn't a stranger when it comes to nightmares. Her own phobias mixed with raising Ozzy has prepared her for the worst. When you wake up and you're panting for breath she doesn't say anything, she just grabs your hand and takes you to the bathroom where she draws a lavender bubble bath. She strips and gets in first leading you to get in front of her. She holds you and kisses your neck as you start to relax, smelling the lavender and Ally's unique smell that you've come to love. "What was it this time darling?" She has her arms wrapped around you and she doesn't let go the whole night.
Tumblr media
Wilhemina Venable • Wilhemina isn't sure what to do in this situation. She has never been consoled so she's kind of at a loss. So when you wake and you're petrified, she simply brushes her fingers through your hair and she gazes at you. "I don't know what to do." She lets tears fall down her cheeks, she's so angry with herself because she can't protect you. So to make up for it she leans in and kisses you deeply. Taking your mind off of the bad dream and instead, she makes your skin light up for an entirely different reason.
Tumblr media
Tammy Robinson • Tammy is a soft baby so she holds your hand and she wipes your cheeks every single time a tear escapes. "Baby if you could go anywhere, where would it be?" The next morning bags are packed and you're going on a vacation with the love of your life.
Bonus Round.
Tumblr media
Abby Gerhard • Abby makes you some hot chocolate immediately, it always calms her down so she's doing everything she can think of to help you. She thinks about calling Carol to see what she would do but decides that she could do this all by herself. No one knew you as well as she did. She gives you your favorite snacks and candy as you try to recall what happened. "Don't ever be afraid to tell me what happens in your dreams. I will always listen."

Her knee was bouncing a mile a minute as she looked out the window, watching the scenery go by. When John placed his hand on her leg to get her to sit still, she started to tear at the skin on the inside of her lip, and when John pulled her bottom lip from her teeth and chided her, she started to tap the window with her knuckles.
“For Christ’s sake Rook, can you sit still for five minutes?” John turned down the radio as he looked over at the Deputy, and her fingers froze against the passenger window as she shot him a glare.
“No John, I can not sit still because in about twenty minutes I’m going to try and pull off a move so assinine my father would laugh at me.” She started to raise her voice as the anxiety moved from her stomach up to her chest, and her leg began bouncing again.
“It’s not assinine. It’s going to be hard considering neither of us wants to give up on what we want, but you have a good reason for doing it.” As John said the words ‘good reason’, she felt his hand cover her own and give it a slight squeeze. She nodded hesitantly before moving her fingers around his so that she could fidget with them to try and ease her anxiety.
The drive to The Spread Eagle felt like it was dragging on for an hour when in reality it was only twenty or twenty-five minutes. John and Rook talked about what they should do when they arrive at the bar since she’d made the executive decision to drive her car. John was too much of a gentleman so he got stuck behind the wheel.
When they got there, Rook was going to get out and go inside first while John sat in the car and waited for his siblings, then John would come inside with the rest of the Seeds. But when it came time to leave, Rook found herself glued to the seat.
“My dear, it’s time to go,” John ran his hand up and down her thigh in a show of comfort when he realized his girlfriend had all but turned to stone. Very slowly, Rook’s head turned to look at him, and he noticed she had tears in her eyes. “Rook, darling-”
“-Don’t say it’ll be okay. Please, just-I can’t hear you say it’ll be okay when we have no idea what’s going to happen in there.” Her voice was wobbling a bit and her hand darted out to cover John’s lips before he could try to comfort her. She could see it in his eyes that he was worried.
John reached up to wipe away her tears and nodded in understanding, watching carefully as Rook started to climb over the middle console towards the driver seat.
“What on Earth are you doing?” John couldn’t help but softly laugh as he watched his deputy maneuver around the car until she was straddling his lap. Rook didn’t answer. She just took John’s face in her hands and kissed him a bit more roughly than he was used to. It took John by surprise, but he quickly moved his hands over Rook’s shoulderblades to hold her against his chest.
Rook was the one to pull away first, her grip on John’s shirt causing the fabric to wrinkle a bit. She took some deep breaths before opening the door and carefully climbing out.
She braced her hand against the top of the car before leaning back down and pressing a kiss to John’s cheek, letting her lips linger a little longer than she should.
“No matter what happens, Rook. I love you.”
If there was ever a time that Rook wished she could turn on that stupid song and murder everyone in a room, it was right now. The Valley was in the middle of a heatwave, and being stuck inside The Spread Eagle with ten other people wasn’t helping the situation.
Sweat was dripping down Rook’s back, making her clothes stick to her body in uncomfortable ways. She scratched at the back of her neck before shifting her ponytail over her shoulder so it was off her skin. Her head was pounding from all the arguing and stress.
This had been her idea and now she was kicking herself in the ass for it. She’d managed to get both sides to agree to a temporary armistice for negotiations. Whitehorse and Virgil were there representing the Cougars, Eli and Tammy were representing the Whitetail Militia, and Pastor Jerome and Mary-May represented the Valley. At the front of the Resistance was Rook herself, being forced to stare down the Heralds.
Across the room from them was the Seeds. Joseph was in front with John and Jacob flanking him, and Faith was lounging on one of the pool tables.
In Rook’s mind, the best-case scenario was that some sort of deal was struck and everyone would go about minding their business. At the thought of things working out peacefully, she glanced over at John, who was already staring at her with those bright blue eyes she loved so much. Her stomach flipped and she forced herself to look away. If an agreement couldn’t be reached, there was no way the Resistance was going to let the Seeds walk out of the bar.
Rook had zoned out for a moment, her mind whirling around all the different things that could go wrong.
"It's what we are offering Sheriff, nothing more. We will let the people of Hope County come to us as long as the Deputy agrees to stay with us. We get to keep our practices, however." Joseph's voice was still calm despite the raised voices of the Resistance. Rook looked over at Joseph with a glint of hope in her eyes. Yes! Yes! This works!
Before the Deputy could respond in agreement to the deal, Eli jumped in and her friends had pulled her back towards the Sheriff and Tammy.
"No way in hell are you getting the Dep!"
"She'd rather die than go with you." Mary-May spoke up and Rook recognized the irritated tick in John's hand as he stepped forward.
"Would she? Seems all of you are determined for it to end that way. Look at her! She's worn to the god damn bone! Always demanding this and demanding that! I found your poor little deputy passed out in the middle of the road once!" John raised his voice and Joseph had to put his hand against his younger brother's chest to avoid a physical confrontation.
It was how their relationship had started. He'd admired Rook's loyalty to her people, so when a few cultists found her unconscious in the Valley one day, John ordered her back to the ranch. It was where she stayed until she was recuperated enough to slip out in the middle of the night.
Rook felt her cheeks burn and her head hung at John's comment. He wasn't wrong. As much as she wanted to help them, Rook's health had nosedived recently. She caught colds more often than she did before and she had lost weight at an alarming rate the last few weeks. John made Rook see one of the Project's doctors at least every other week.
"That would be your fault, wouldn't it? Chasing her around the county the way you do. She's fighting against you, and maybe if ya'll just stop, she wouldn't have so much shit to do." Tammy sneered as she countered John's argument, but Rook turned her head to look at the woman in slight disbelief.
“You clearly don’t know your deputy as well as I do, sinner.” John fired back, his eyes narrow and alight with wrath. Rook stepped towards John with an eyebrow raised, quietly telling him to shut up, but he was too riled up at this point. He caught her expression and balked, his jaw slack in disbelief.
“They are running you into the ground, deputy! Do they have any idea what they are doing to you?” John held his hands out, gesturing wildly as he tried to stand up for her well-being. The Resistance wanted a fight or complete surrender, and John knew better than most that she didn’t have much fight left in her.
“Don’t do this here, John. Not now.” Rook warned him as Tammy and Whitehorse looked at Rook in confusion. The questions they had weren’t hard to guess. Why was John Seed sticking up for you? What had she been telling him that they didn’t know? Why was Rook telling him things they didn’t know?
“Don’t do what? Tell your little friends that you had an ulcer from the amount of stress they’ve been putting you through? Don’t tell them that even Brother Jacob took pity on you when you dropped unconscious in the middle of a trial!” Rook’s cheeks turned bright red as John brought up a few of the things that had caused Joseph and his siblings to consider a deal. Despite the goals for the Project, Joseph saw how the deputy was changing John for the better and healing his past. He couldn’t stand to take that away from his younger brother, even if they caused Rook’s death indirectly. That was a sin Joseph was willing to carry.
“Rook? The hell is he talking about?” Eli turned to the deputy, but he didn’t sound angry. Instead, he sounded concerned as he placed a hand on Rook’s shoulder. She looked up at him hesitantly and eventually nodded.
“I’m wearing myself thin Eli. I never got sick, then I came to Hope County, and started doing all these things I ain’t used to, and...something’s always wrong with me.” Rook shrugged and for a moment she felt like a child talking to a parent. She felt guilty. Like she’d hidden something important from an adult, but when Whitehorse turned her to look at him, she could tell she had.
“You should’ve told us Rook, I...shit, I’m so sorry,” Whitehorse patted her arm before turning to face the Seeds again. “We’ll negotiate.”
“Are you fucking kidding me? Is nobody going to bother asking how the fuck John Seed knows all of that? Or anything about Rook for that matter!” Tammy was furious, and normally Rook would’ve understood and agreed with her. But her shoulders ached, her entire body felt like it was going to turn to dust, and a nap sounded really good right now. She knew it was only a matter of time.
“Tammy, if we kill the Deputy by runnin’ her into the ground, then we might as well give up now. It ain’t no business of ours who the Deputy decides to associate herself with, not when she’s saved as many of us as she has.” Eli snapped at her, his face contorted in discontent. Rook was surprised Eli had spoken up like he did, for she knew how much he hated Jacob Seed and the rest of the cult.
“Eli is right. We’ve been putting too much on the deputy. Fall’s End is open to talking.” Jerome spoke up with a solemn look on his face. Rook’s heart skipped a beat.
“Cougars are open to it.”
“So are the Whitetail. This has to end before we all end up dead.” Eli nodded to Rook apologetically.
When she’d originally hatched the plan to open up a compromise, she knew no one would like it. It would be rough, exhausting, and extremely tense. But the fighting could stop. Bullets would stop flying through the air, people wouldn’t go missing in the middle of the night.
She couldn’t help but rush over to John and receive a bone-crushing hug from him as tears started to stream down her face. It was won. She did her worst, she’d tried her best. Everything was far from over and she couldn’t rest yet, but Rook was determined to make this work. For everyone.

Damn...Babel is intense. Can you do part 3? ..and 4 😄
It really is! And it’s extra achey writing a variation of it for sure. Part seven was the last up here. So, here is part eight!
Tumblr media
“Just try to calm down,” the woman pleads.
“Calm down? My wife is dying.”
“Come with us,” she speaks, her voice growing softer.
“Where the Fuck do you want me to take her?”
“Please,” she whispers. “Try to understand. So many of them are tired and sick. Why are we staying at this point?”
Debbie doesn’t have an answer for her. Or for anyone. And she doesn’t know where to go from here.
The view of the mountains and hills in front of her goes sideways and all she can see is white.
Debbie doesn’t know how long it takes her to come to, but she isn’t having any help as she swats a defenseless Anwar, who is only trying to help, away, sloppily crawling to her knees before she stands.
She wants to threaten the woman and everyone on the bus for that matter, but she knows it’s useless. She’s mad at the wrong people. But nothing seems to be going right. Every shred of hope that keeps fluttering to the surface gets shot down before it can fully develop into a plan.
It’s officially nightfall by the time Debbie makes it to the general store to call Tammy and she has no time for formalities or niceties, but she’s doing her best to keep her patience without snapping, but is failing miserably.
“Tammy?” She breathes as the line finally clicks. “Tammy, what’s going on? Nobody has come for us. I need to know who you called. Who you talked to. I need help. She’s dying.”
“Deb, I thought—“
“Please, Tam,” Debbie gasps as her eyes start to well. “She’s so weak. I’ve never—I’ve never seen her this bad. Please, I’m begging you, Tammy. You have got to do something. For me. For Lou, please.”
“Debs, even the Secretary of State knows. I mean I made the calls. The embassy. The state department. Hell, the world knows, but I can’t push them faster I mean—“
“You can’t just make these calls, Tammy!” Debbie screeches, finally losing her cool. “You’ve got to—I don’t know. Get up and do something.”
“We’re doing everything we can,” Tammy spoke calmly. “You need to calm down. Freaking out isn’t going to accomplish anything.”
“How the Fuck do you expect me to calm down? Lou is dying.”
“I’m flying out there tonight,” Tammy decided.
“There’s no time,” Debbie sighs, cradling her head in her hands. “I need to get her out of here now. There’s no ambulance. No hospital. Nothing. I just don’t know what to—are you Fucking kidding me?” Debbie screams as she looks out the window.
Tammy’s words are nothing but noise in the distance as Debbie drops the receiver, leaving it hanging against the wall as she runs out of the store and onto the dirt road, coughing as the dust sweeps into her lungs as she watches the bus drive away, oblivious to her broken, hoarse screams as she cries in frustration.
“Stop!” Debbie screams, chasing after the bus as she gasps for breath. “Stop! Stop you motherfucking—please, please stop,” she begs as she tries to catch her breath, her legs coming to a stop as she lets out a wordless scream. She can’t do anything but throw a rock after it, the bus already too far away to hear or see her.
Lou is awake a few hours later, her eyes fluttering open to see Debbie standing against a wall, sweaty and tired and sobbing tearless sobs, her voice barely a croak.
“Debs, baby,” Lou whispers, startling Debbie as she looks down at the blonde who is reaching out for her, looking both sicker than she ever has in her life and more like the Lou she knows and loves than she has in months as she calls out for her softly.
“What do you need?” Debbie smiles weakly, trying not to transfer her doubt and upset to her wife.
“If I die…” Lou starts, but Debbie won’t let her finish, sinking to the ground beside her as she tries to awkwardly cradle her as best as she can without hurting her.
“You’re not going to die, Lou,” Debbie promises, kissing her forehead softly. “You’re not.”
“Debbie, just listen, if—“
“Lou, if you die, I will murder you,” Debbie hisses automatically before laughing at the ridiculous threat, the blonde chuckling lightly beside her until she has to stop, wincing as she reaches for her ribs.
Lou smiles at her genuinely as they lock hands, Debbie kissing each of her fingers, lingering against her wedding set as she kisses the rings once more.
“I have to pee,” Lou finally admits, breaking the moment, but something has shifted between them.
“Right,” Debbie frowns, looking around for a pot. There’s something healing about the moment as she helps get Lou’s pants, angling the pot beneath her as Lou hooks her arm around Debbie as Debbie helps lift her, holding her up as she goes, finally sighing with relief until there’s comfortable silence between them again. And Debbie is surprised as anything when Lou leans in with a giggle and kisses Debbie deeply, and then Lou is crying, tears rolling down her cheeks sticky against Debbie’s.
“I’m sorry I never forgave you,” Lou cries, burying her face against Debbie’s chest. “I did. I do. I just—I know things will never be the same as before prison and how we used to be and I’ve been mourning the past but I—“
“They won’t ever be the same,” Debbie agrees, holding onto her. “But they don’t have to be. They’ll be better.”
“I know,” Lou smiles, sniffing back her tears. “We’ve both changed. But you’re right. We needed to change to be the new us. A better Lou and Deb. It’s not enough to go backward.”
“Lou?”
“Yeah, honey?”
“I want us to have a baby.”
“You don’t,” Lou shook her head. “I shouldn’t have pushed. It’s alright, I promise. It was just something I convinced myself I needed, but I don’t—“
“No, no I want to,” Debbie promises, kissing Lou softly. “I want to go home. I want to be a family. The kind of family we never had. I want to be those parents, baby.”
“Debs, I’m scared,” Lou cries, clinging to her harder as Debbie nods.
“I know, love. I am too.”

the prompts with pregnant Lou were so adorbs. Could you do one with Debbie being the one carrying their baby? Just because Debbie can be a brat with Lou and now pregnant her level of brattines are over the roof and the rest of the crew don't help to keep her calm, until Lou figures she can use sex to tame her, even though, for the first time, her sex drive and endurance starts to be challenged.
This turned out way softer than imagined, but I hope you enjoy!!😌

The brunette huffed again loudly for the third time and Lou chuckled to herself as her wife huffed a fourth time rolling her eyes.
She felt the woman beside her flip again. Left side. Right side. Back. Left side again.
Debbie let out quite possibly the world’s loudest and longest sigh.
“Yes, love?” Lou asked, moving her reading glasses to perch on her hairline as she closed her book softly.
“I can’t get comfortable with this damn globe attached to me,” Debbie huffed.
“Damn globe?” Lou smirked, turning to her side to face Debbie with a pointed look on her face. “You mean our baby?”
“Baby, globe, demon. Whatever.”
Lou had to admit that Debbie wasn’t too out of line. It had been a rough pregnancy so far and it didn’t seem to be getting any better. Both Lou and Debbie were exhausted. The baby never stopped moving making it impossible for Debbie to sleep. And when Debbie didn’t sleep, Lou didn’t sleep.
There was constant morning sickness that lasted all day. Heart burn that felt like heart attacks. Indigestion. Endless kicking and jabbing of little legs. Anything that could be a side effect or possibility was something Debbie experienced. And it killed Lou that she couldn’t take some of that pain and irritation away from her wife and share the burden besides maybe her non existent sleep schedule each night.
“Do you want me to call Tammy?” Lou asked. “Remember she said she’d try that relaxation technique on you.”
“Ugh, no,” Debbie groaned. “I can’t deal with the comparison to her pregnancies and how worth it it’ll be in the end. I know all that. It just sucks now.”
Lou hummed in agreement.
“Want Constance to come and listen to you complain and eat chips?”
“Then I’ll eat too much junk food,” Debbie groaned.
Lou sighed. “If only you could just smoke a blunt with Nine.”
“Now there’s an idea,” Debbie grinned wickedly.
Lou raised her eyebrows. “You’re not getting baked while our baby is still in your oven,” Lou chuckled. “Plenty of other ways to get your high.”
“Oh?” Debbie smirked, rubbing her stomach gently. “See something you like, Miller?”
“It’s Miller-Ocean, actually,” Lou winked with a matching smirk as she crawled towards Debbie. “And I see two things I like, actually.”
“And what might those be?” Debbie breathed as Lou got close to her.
“This,” Lou whispered, kissing Debbie’s belly. “And this.” Lou leaned in, cupping Debbie’s face as she kissed her deeply, Debbie pulling her in even deeper with a moan as Lou felt the brunette squirm beneath her. They felt Debbie’s stomach wriggle around as Debbie’s arousal stirred. They shared a small gasp.
“Seems like a certain little someone likes when their moms kiss,” Debbie grinned.
“Until they actually have to deal with it,” Lou laughed. She brushed Debbie’s hair back and kissed her softly again. “Let me take your mind off things, honey. Let me make love to you. Nice and slow. I’ll be gentle.”
“You’ll be gentle?” Debbie snorted.
Lou shrugged. “I’ve gotta keep my girls safe, don’t I?”
And then Lou was clapping her hands over her mouth, turning bright red.
“Your WHAT?!” Debbie shrieked.
Lou shimmied away and tried to duck underneath the covers.
“Louise,” Debbie teased, dragging the name out. “Did you just slip and give away the one thing I asked you to keep a surprise?”
“No,” Lou grumbled under the blanket. “That would make me a bloody idiot wouldn’t it?”
“It might,” Debbie smirked. “But it might also be very cute that you’ve been thinking about it and were too excited to keep it under wraps.”
Lou stayed hidden, her cheeks flushed. She couldn’t believe she’d slipped. She had wanted to know and Debbie hadn’t so they compromised. And Lou had slipped up barely a month into knowing and secretly plotting.
“Your girls,” Debbie repeated, her lip starting to quiver. “Lou—I—we’re having a little girl?”
The cover was snatched from over Lou’s head. “Maybe,” the blonde offered sheepishly.
“I can’t believe it,” Debbie whispered.
“I’m so sorry, Deb,” Lou whispered, her brow furrowing, eyes starting to tear. “You wanted it to be a surprise.”
“Baby,” Debbie smiled, pulling Lou closer. “Come out from under there. I know it just kind of happened. I’m not upset. I’m—I’m thrilled.”
“Gives your Met speech a whole new meaning, huh?” Lou smirked, eyes twinkling.
“She’ll have the skills, but the only thing she’ll be stealing is hearts,” The brunette beamed.
Lou scoffed. “Yeah right. Like I believe that for a second. Gonna have two Oceans ganging up on me.”
“I’m more afraid of seeing a six-year-old in the sidecar of your bike,” Debbie chuckled.
“Nah,” Lou laughed. “She’ll have have her own bike, of course.”
“Lou,” Debbie warned.
“Let’s wait until she’s born before you’re punishing me for my parenting decisions, Mmmm?”
“Yes, I do recall something about you maybe distracting me?” Debbie hinted, laying back.
“Perhaps,” Lou whispered, leaning in to kiss Debbie. She slowly moved her trail of kisses downwards down Debbie’s neck and chest and belly, kissing under her belly, an extra kiss for her nameless daughter and then a kiss over Debbie’s underwear, Lou noticing the wet patch on her wife’s panties. “Someone’s wet for me already it seems.”
“Baby,” Debbie sighed. “Come on. You know how—“
“Horny you get?”
“I was going to say impatient, actually,” Debbie corrected.
“Patience is a virtue, Deb.”
“A little late for the lessons on virtuousness, love,” Debbie laughed, gesturing between them and Deb’s belly.
“You don’t think this is virtuous?” Lou asked before peeling Debbie’s underwear down and licking between her folds, making Debbie shiver.
“Fuck, your tongue, baby,” Debbie moaned as Lou started to lick, her hands digging into Debbie’s thighs as Debbie’s hands pushed her head down, pulling at blonde locks as Lou groaned into her heat. “You feel so good, Lou.”
And soon enough, Debbie was tipping over the edge and Lou’s tongue was swirling with Debbie’s so she could taste herself on her wife’s tongue as Lou drove her fingers deep into Debbie, the brunette moaning and panting close against Lou as the blonde whispered how much she loved Debbie and how damn beautiful she was and how brave and powerful and amazing she was carrying their baby.
And when Debbie was seeing stars after coming on Lou’s tongue and fingers and even her strap, the two mumbling sleepily to each other, Lou’s eyes nearly popped out of her head as Debbie asked: “what makes you think we’re done, baby?” as her fingers trailed dangerously low into Lou’s underwear, her teeth finding one of Lou’s nipples. And three orgasms and a snoring pregnant wife later, Lou thought she might be able to sleep soundly through the night and be fully rested for once after all.
