recently i’m thinking about how both of rory’s lovers left her on her graduation day. first it was jess who literally went without saying goodbye, end up not taking her to prom and didn’t showed up for her graduation. but he was 17 and he didn’t know better. and later it was logan, who proposed and when rory had told him “i love you, i love the idea of being married to you but i can’t do it right now at this moment” literally gave her an ultimatum - marry me or else. he was 25 but acted like a literal child at this moment. and i hate it because rory worked so hard for both of these moments, especially for the second one, after having a meltdown and taken a time off and yet, her boyfriend, the person who told her “you base your decision based on what you want for you” left her because she didn’t wanna marry him right at 22 when she graduates, and it sucks.

you never were much of a social butterfly, frankly you hated going out and into places with lots of people. you loved being a homebody, enjoying calmness and quiet but even when that was your life, one you were pretty content with…there still was something missing, or rather someone.

so you went out of your way and downloaded an app, hoping to meeting you someone special and that you did.

it didn’t take long for you to fall in love with yunho, his charm and humor was something he pulled you in with.

everyday you woke up to good morning, baby! did you dream sweet? and everyday you fell asleep to good night, my love. i love you.

you even met his best friend, his other half mingi, which you quickly became best friends with too. he often messaged you, sending you silly pictures of your boyfriend or letting you know what he’s up to if yunho’s too busy to do so himself and for that you were truly thankful.

because lately yunho has been quiet, he barely text’s you, always busy with dancing class, well, thats what he says and of course you believe him! he’s an active person so it’s not abnormal but it does hurt a little bit, you miss him a lot.

you miss him, you want to be part of his daily life but you can’t, not fully at least. but mingi sent you a pic of yunho one night, fast asleep on his desk, looking like he worked on something for some time. you can’t really tell on what though, it’s blurred. mingi wrote underneath “he’s been stressing about this for so long, he even forgets to eat and drink. don’t worry tho! i’m reminding him (:”

you didn’t exactly understand what he was referring to but it must be very important. with that knowledge you could calm down and sleep better but also worry a bit about your yunho, as he clearly overworks himself..

after two weeks you suspected that he might be working on your birthday present, your birthday that was just around the corner, especially because he was pretty secretive about it too and even after bothering mingi, who also acts kinda suspicious you let it drop.

two days before your special day yunho calls you, smiling so bright you could swear he’s brighter than the sun. he tells you “babe, are you excited for your present?” of course you were, he treated it like a government secret after all. “you know i am but i’ll be patient, promise.” after that his smile seemed to grow even more and he tells you, how the wait is gonna pay off.

you wondered what he made you and if it will arrive on your birthday or a few days after.

so imagine the surprise when your present ringed your bell, standing only one feet away from you with a box and spread arms, waiting for you to jump into.

and that you did, with tears streaming down your face.

The best realistic relationship on TV?

Listen, folks, we've got a real one here. It's messy. It's complicated. They are in love, but love is hard when you can't be in the same physical space. Her job gets in the way. His job gets in the way. According to canon, she's going to leave him for another dude and the original plan (that she doesn't end up using in TOS) is for muscle man to kill him in honorable combat. Spock has nightmares about this. Strange New Worlds has the tea.

I am very, very close to buying the streaming service from Paramount just so I can binge this show for this relationship. I've seen all the clips I can find and watched some at a relative's home. There is realistic adult communication about sexual and emotional needs - Spock almost does a spit-take when T'Pring brings up the books she's read about the type of sex she assumes he wants to have and it's just so real.

She's assuming things and he's too shy at first to just lay out what he wants because he's trying so hard to be Vulcan [fill in your metaphor for what "Vulcan" is standing in for here: neurotypical, non-kinky, stereotypical gender roles, whatever it is that a man might wish he was in the bedroom that he isn't - and then the fiance is actually interested and reading a shelf full of the wrong books to try and accommodate.] Then, he talks to a friend for advice and it's great! It doesn't pave over their culture, but the human friend boosts up that Vulcan honesty is one of the best things about having a Vulcan as a friend.

Most of their issues come from the long-distance nature of their relationship, not that it was arranged or anything that would imply the human way is better. They are very pleased that they were paired up, they just both have jobs that send them all over the place - often on short notice. Sometimes when they are mostly naked and about to have some quality time together.

This relationship and its problems are so real and it is so refreshing to see a messy romance that is treated this way in media. They are trying so hard and sometimes it works, but other times it doesn't. It shows the work you have to put into the relationship.

There is ND representation if you want to read Spock that way (he isn't neurotypical by Human or Vulcan standards, and as of Discovery canonically has dyslexia/dysphasia) and people have been reading him that way for 50 years. A relationship handled this well on TV with an ND person is something to take note of. This is good representation for any kind of realistic romantic relationship with normal problems in media, but that just kicks it up another notch because the metaphors are easy to see or not as it applies to the viewer.

There is such good open communication in this relationship, and even though we know it is doomed the work they are putting in is great to see. This didn't fail because they were bonded at age seven and then just hated each other.

These writers deserve some praise for doing this job so well.

it's not a lie to say that albert and franz are shoujo characters. the direction of gankutsuou is very dezakian and the soap-operaish melodrama is reminiscent of 70s shoujo manga set in 1800s boarding schools with intense homoerotic text/subtext. franz's tragedy follows the same formula of queer pulp fiction (popular in 70s shoujo manga). the epilogue even feels like kaze to ki no uta, in a way! anyway, my bold claim for today is that albert is not only just a shoujo mc, he's an honorary gothic heroine as well!

Seven months today with this man, and I cannot help but feel like I am the luckiest person on the planet.

Sometimes it feels a little childish to count the months, but then I remember I am in the process of healing my inner child, and it is perfectly acceptable to celebrate the things that make me happy, however small they may be. I never got to do that growing up, or even in my previous marriage.
