recently i’m thinking about how both of rory’s lovers left her on her graduation day. first it was jess who literally went without saying goodbye, end up not taking her to prom and didn’t showed up for her graduation. but he was 17 and he didn’t know better. and later it was logan, who proposed and when rory had told him “i love you, i love the idea of being married to you but i can’t do it right now at this moment” literally gave her an ultimatum - marry me or else. he was 25 but acted like a literal child at this moment. and i hate it because rory worked so hard for both of these moments, especially for the second one, after having a meltdown and taken a time off and yet, her boyfriend, the person who told her “you base your decision based on what you want for you” left her because she didn’t wanna marry him right at 22 when she graduates, and it sucks.

hi can i anonymously request a jess mariano imagine where its something similar to the scolding he does to rory but instead reader does that wake up call for him because he is not acting like himself. i hope that this makes sense but to summarise a angst where reader scolds him for his unusual behaviour but with a happy ending
Yes, definitely! I hope I did this right, I didn't think it was confusing but if I read it wrong, feel free to call me out.

Liz and TJ were getting married. Luke told you it was Renaissance themed. He was enthusiastic about it, of course. Well he didn't tell you specifically. You were getting lunch with Lorelai. And he told both of you.
Lorelai Gilmore. She was your surrogate mother. You'd asked her to adopt you, and you were sure your parents wouldn't know the difference if she did.
You went to college, of course. But you live at home because you're school was close by.
Tomorrow's the wedding. You were watching Kirk yell at Miss. Patty. You rolled your eyes, walking oast the gazibo, towards Lukes. Then you see him. Sitting on the bench.
He meets your eyes, his expression was flat. You tried to hide your shock, but stumbled a little. You quickly walk towards Luke's. You glare at him as you walk in. He puts his hands up.
"What did I do?" He asks. "I really don't need anyone else to give me shit."
"No warning. No warning whatsoever?!" You hiss, sitting down at the counter. He closes his eyes and lets out a breath.
"I forgot," he says. You gape at him.
"You forgot? You forgot to tell me Jess was coming?" You ask. He puts his hands on the counter.
"It's his mom's wedding," he says.
"What did he say when you told him that?" You ask. He nods, not answering. He knew you were right. "He looks pissed. Why does he look pissed?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I walked past him in the park and he looked numb. What's with that?" You ask. He sighs, giving you a sympathetic look.
Before Jess moved, you two were close. Really close. He was close with Rory, obviously. He was the reason her and Dean broke up. Well, Dean read the situation wrong. But he was right about one thing. Rory wasn't in love with him anymore. But if he had said "Y/N's into him," instead, that would be correct.
You weren't completely sure if Jess liked her or not. But, they never dated.
You were closer to dating the boy than your friend. But that too, never happened.
"He's just here for the wedding, Y/N," he says. You nod as he sets a mug down infront of you. Then he looks up and pulls the cup away. You gape at him.
"You're really depriving me of coffee now?" You ask. His eyes widened a fraction. You look behind you at where Jess was now walking into the diner.
He briefly looks at Luke and you. Mainly you. But it was still brief. He goes upstairs. You clench your fists. You stand up and Luke walks infront of the stairs.
"Really want to do that right now?" you ask. He sighs, moving to let you up the stairs. You go up to the apartment.
You step inside to see Jess grabbing a new book. You didn't have time to see what it was, but it looked like Luke's.
He looks over at you and rolls his eyes, not looking at you for long.
"I don't even get a hello?" You ask. He closes the book, which looked to have another one inside of it, and tries to walk past you. But you close the apartment door. He clenches his jaw, still avoiding looking at you.
"Nothing. For over a year," you say. He looks at you finally. "Say something!"
"What do you want me to say?" He asks.
"At least try to defend yourself," you say. He reaches around you for the door handle. You push him back, further into the apartment.
"I don't need to defend myself to you," he says. You raise an eyebrow.
"Oh, no? Who was it that left me right before graduation completely broken?" His eyes leave yours again. "Want to defend yourself now?"
"This town was never for me, you know that," he says. You scoff.
"Bullshit," you say. He glares at you. "You liked it here, I know you did."
"You don't know anything about me," he says, again trying to get passed you.
"Like hell I don't!" You yell, pushing him back yet again. "I forgave you. Of course you wouldn't know that, because you weren't here. But I did. Months ago. Because Luke explained it to me. And I knew you well enough to figure out why you thought not graduating was even remotely intelligent," you say. His jaw was still clenched.
"If you forgave me, then why do you want me to defend myself?"
"Because you're acting like a complete asshole! You should at least want to try and talk to me. But you can barely look at me! And I want to know why!"
He couldn't meet your eye. You tilt your head slightly, trying to get him to look at you. You raise an eyebrow. You noticed how his hair had grown out a little bit.
"What the hell is going on with you?" You ask. He looks at you.
"I didn't mean to break you, and you shouldn't have forgiven me," he says. You stare at the boy.
"You're kidding me, right? You're acting like this because you want me to be pissed at you?"
He meets your eyes again, showing you were right. You scoff. "Tell me what's going on with you," you say. He doesn't say anything. "Tell me!"
"I can't give you an answer that you would like," he says. You scoff, giving a sarcastic smile.
"I can't promise I'd like any answer. But I still want one," you say. He blinks, looking down, avoiding looking at you yet again. You bring a hand up to his face, trying to turn it slightly, but he turns his face further away. You bring your other hand up. He looks at you. "Please, Jess."
He lets out a breath, and you felt the hot air fan your face. Your breath hitched slightly, but it wasn't enough for him to notice. "I didn't talk to you because I knew that talking to you would make me want to come back."
You stare at him for a moment. Your hands become loose and they slide down slightly, landing on his chest. You tried to understand. You didn't know what it could actually mean. He sees the confusion on your face and shifts more, to face you.
"I liked it here, you're right. Only because of Luke, Rory, and you. Mainly you. And if I heard your voice, if I knew you weren't mad at me, I would have been back here instantly."
You stare at him. You were hoping his words meant one thing, but part of you doubted it. The bigger part. "What's so wrong with that?" You ask.
"Nobody wants me here. Not Luke, not the town-"
"I do!" You say. He watches you. "And... even if you didn't stay here, I want you to at least talk to me!"
You realize your hands have probably sat in their spot for far to long, so you let them fall yet again. This time they landed at your sides, as you let out a sigh.
"I don't deserve you," he says, almost quietly. You meet his eyes.
"Jess-"
"No, I knew it when we started getting close. I knew that this would happen. I hurt you and you still somehow want to talk to me," he says, like he can't believe it.
"Well it's true. You're right, the town doesn't want you here. But Luke does. And I'm sure your mom does. And I do. If you want to be somewhere else, that's fine. But don't pretend like you didn't spend years here, like we don't exist."
"You think that's what I've been doing?"
"Sure seems like it."
"Well, it's not." You stare at him and raise an eyebrow. "I think about you every single day. You are always somehow popping into my head."
"Jess... what are you saying?" His fingers trace your wrist lightly, as if he's hesitant to hold your hands.
"I'm saying that if I had stayed, I would have wanted more than just being friends," he admits. You felt your mouth fall open slightly.
It took you a minute to process and question. "You-"
"I'm in love with you." Your eyes widen even more.
He looks nervous, waiting for a response. You couldn't fully process it. Jess Mariano. The boy you were the closest with for so long. The boy who you fell for a few months after he moved to your town. He was in love with you. And you'd wanted to hear it for so long, but you couldn't form the words to say it back.
He takes your silence as the wrong answer. He takes his hands away, nodding, looking down at his book, then up at the door. He takes a step around you, out into the stairway. You finally leap into motion. You turn, grabbing his wrist.
"Y/N-" he is cut off by you rising up slightly on your toes, connecting your lips with his. He didn't take long to react. His lips felt slightly chapped, and moved gently against your own. His hands found the side of your face. One of your hands gently rested intbetween his chest and abdomen. And your other hand reached up, lightly tracing his arm.
When the two of you finally pull apart, he rests his head on yours. "I don't know if you noticed... but I love you too." He chuckles, one of his hands mindlessly playing with your hair.
"I might need you to show me that again," he says. You tried to hide your smile by biting your lips. A small blush crept onto your cheeks. "Would you be my date to the wedding?"
You pecked his lips, still smiling.
"I'll take that as a yes?" You laugh slightly, nodding.
"Yes. It's a yes."

“Oh Dad!” Emmy looked at Steve “Don’t give me that look.”
“What look?”
“Your Captains look…”
“I’m not…” he shook his head.
“You are, you’re doing it right now!”
Steve sighed “I just don’t see why you wanna go off like that? I mean you graduate in a few weeks-“
“I know!” Emmy said “And that’s why I wanna go. I’ve spent the last 3 years working so hard to get my major and…well, travelling for a few months, me and Pete thought it would be fun to see the world before we come back and settle down and…”
“Woah, woah, settle down?” Steve arched an eyebrow “You and Peter…”
“I mean into a job.” Emmy glared at him. “Although we might get an apartment together, I dunno, but…”
“Ok, Ok…” Steve held his hand up to stop her “We can discuss that later…I’m not…”
“You lived with Mom before you got married.” Emmy narrowed her eyes at him.
“Yeah but the difference is he was in his 90s…” Katie said as she walked into the room, gently placing Harry on the floor where he toddled over to his dad who was busy giving Katie a glare.
“That’s not what I was going to say.” Steve frowned, before he looked at Emmy “If you and Pete wanna get a place then…I’m not gonna stop you all I was saying is just don’t start making so many plans…take some time and just…I dunno, chill.”
Katie looked at him, then Emmy, then back again “Did you seriously tell your 21 year old daughter to chill?”
Steve looked at Katie who was wearing an amused smirk and he shook his head “All I was saying is there’s no rush, Em. Come back here, take a few months and if you still wanna go travelling then, go, of course. The world is a big place, I want you to see it…just maybe me and your mom want some time with you this summer.”
Emmy looked at him, then to her mom before she frowned “Were you planning something?”
Katie took a deep breath and looked at Steve before she sighed “It was gonna be a surprise, but it looks like they’re finally going to finish the house in Malibu in the next few weeks. When Jamie finishes school we were gonna head out there for the summer months, all of us and let everyone come visit. Pete’s more than welcome too, if you want. And Brooke”
At the last line Katie saw Steve stiffen a little before he recovered. He had nothing against Peter per-se, he was just still uncomfortable about the fact that his not-so-little girl was dating full stop. God help them the day Rori brought a boy home.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” Emmy said, casting her eyes downwards.
“Hey…” Steve looked at her, even now after the fact she’d lived with them for 10 years she still had these moments. “There’s nothing to be sorry for. We just wanted to make your summer special. You’ve put so much hard work into the last 3 years Emmy, me and your Ma are so proud of you.”
“Thanks.” she said, looking at them. “And I’d like that…for us to spend the summer together.”
“Alright, then that’s settled…” Katie smiled “You can go travelling after, if you still want to, right Steve?”
Steve looked at Katie then Emmy and shrugged “Sure…”
“Ok, I’m gonna start-“ But before Katie could finish, there was a loud noise of singing as the door to the den down the hall flew open and the familiar sounds of “Star Spangled Man” hit their ears. Steve looked at Katie before he gave a groan as the sounds of their youngest Daughter singing it grew louder, and louder, before she burst into the lounge dressed in a pink bathing suit, a tutu and Jamie’s old plastic toy army helmet.
“Star Spangled Man with a plaaaaaaaan!” She sang, standing on the rug in the middle of the room, kicking her legs out to the beat as she sang, twirling around, marching on the spot, her signing continuing.
Katie looked at Emmy, the two of them stifling their laughter as much as they could as Steve dropped his hands to his hips and looked at Rori.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“Your song!” she grinned “I saw you on the videos with the girls and stuff…you lifted a bike up, with your arms!”
“Yeah, ok…who showed them to you?” Steve looked at Rori and she grinned and he had a feeling he already knew the answer.
“Uncle Bucky and Uncle Sammy. We watched them last time I had a sleepover.”
“Course you did.” Steve groaned
“And Emmy rehearsed them with me…”
At that point Steve turned his eyes to Emmy who narrowed her eyes and looked at her little sister.
“Hey, don’t throw me under the bus Rori…”
“What bus?” Rori asked, frowning as she looked around “I don’t see no bus?”
“It’s a figure of…never mind, forget it.” Emmy chuckled.
At that point Jamie walked into the living room “Hey Dad, have you seen my-“
But what it was Steve might have seen he never found out, as Jamie trailed off and took in Rori’s outfit.
“What are you wearing?” he frowned.
“My Chorus girl outfit!” she grinned “I’ve been practicing…”
“Practicing for what?”
“Being a chorus girl, dur!” she rolled her eyes “Look…”
And once more she launched into that infernal song, including another rendition of the dance routine she’d learned. Jamie stood watching, mouth falling open and Steve couldn’t help but laugh at the scene in front of him. The perplexed look on Jamie’s face, Rori’s dancing and singing and Harry stood clapping and trying to join in with Stark adding the occasional bark for good measure.
“When I grow up I wanna be a chorus girl…” Rori said, as she finished, giving a final twirl.
“Do you?” Katie said, smiling before she looked at Steve and gave him a smirk. “Maybe we should have called her Lottie…”
“You had to bring that up?” Steve sighed, folding his arms and glaring at her.
Katie grinned as Rori looked at her “Lottie? Who’s Lottie…”
“An old friend of daddy’s…” Katie teased and Steve shook his head.
“I’ll kill Bucky for telling you that.”
“You told me yourself!” Katie snorted
“I never told you it was a chorus girl, or her name because you said you didn’t care.”
“I don’t care.” Katie shrugged, and Steve simply arched his eyebrow at her as she smirked at him and looked back at Rori who was now showing Harry how to kick his leg out in front of him. He tried to copy his sister and promptly wobbled and fell back on his diaper clad ass giving a loud yell of laughter, clapping his hands.
Jamie looked at him, then to Rori then turned to his parents, hands on his hips.
“I don’t want her around when Sebastian comes over…” he said, glaring at his dad then his mother, before jerking his thumb over his shoulder as he stalked out of the room “Where did you get her from?”

Saying Yes
Summary:  Katniss and Peeta had a bitter break up years ago and went their separate ways. Katniss knows nothing of Peeta’s life now, until a stunning blonde walks into the exclusive bridal salon were she works, to buy her a dress for her wedding - to Peeta Mellark.
Part Four - Sisters…..
Part 4 - Sisters
“Prim?  Are you here?”
Katniss threw her keys and bag down and toed off her shoes with a sigh of relief.  It had been a long and frustrating day at work.   All she wanted was to shower, eat and then sleep.
“I’m in the kitchen!” her sister replied.  “Dinner’s almost ready!”
Katniss offered up a silent prayer of thanks that she wouldn’t have to face another takeout or frozen pizza for dinner tonight.  She knew how to cook but was lazy about it when she only had to cook for herself.  Prim, however, loved to cook.
She followed the delicious aroma wafting down the narrow hall to the tiny kitchen.   It was barely big enough to hold a small table and 2 chairs, but Prim had set it with the nice plates and cutlery and a small bud vase holding a single, yellow dandelion.
“What’s all this?” Katniss waved at the table.  “It’s not my birthday.”
“Does it need to be a special occasion for me to show my appreciation for my favorite sister?” Prim asked, lifting a spoon to her mouth and offering it to her for a taste.
“Mmm, that’s so good.” Katniss licked her lips.  “It tastes familiar. What’s in it?”
“It’s lamb stew with dried plums.” Prim smiled as she added an extra dash of red wine to the simmering pot.  “I remembered how much you love it and I thought I’d try to recreate the recipe.  Besides, lamb was on special at the market today.”
Still thrifty with the budget.  Katniss thought.  Old habits die hard.
“Go get cleaned up.  Dinner will be ready in ten minutes. I just need to warm up some crusty bread to go with this.”
“I love you, little duck,” Katniss said, pulling her sister in for a hug.
“I love you more, duck potato,” Prim grinned.
An hour later and Katniss was feeling full and sleepy as she curled on the sofa with her legs tucked under her, sipping on a second glass of red wine.
“Thank you Prim, that was wonderful,” she sighed, patting her full tummy.  “I always appreciate a home cooked meal but I thought you had plans to go to the movies with Rory tonight?”
“I did but he caught an extra shift so I decided to come over and bug you instead.” Prim said, joining her on the sofa.
“So, did you happen to catch any news today?  Hear any juicy celebrity gossip at work?” she asked, taking a sip from her own wineglass.
Katniss looked sideways at her sister, wondering why she was asking such an odd question. Prim knew Katniss was not big on the news or gossip – celebrity or otherwise.
“No, I was run off my feet all day.  I don’t have time for gossip.  There’s a trunk show on all week and they can get a little crazy.”
“Huh,” Prim starting tapping on the screen of her obnoxiously large smart phone. “Then you haven’t seen this?”  She slowly turned the phone screen to face her sister.
Katniss fought to keep her composure as she watched the images unfold in front of her.  The video captured a gorgeous smiling couple standing close together, hands intwined, on a gilded balcony overlooking the park.  A fireworks display was lighting up the night sky behind them.  Once the fireworks come to an end the couple and their guests start to clap and cheer and someone pops a champagne cork as music begins to play and other couples start to filter onto the dancefloor.
Dressed in the one-of-a-kind flowing white and gold reception gown created by Cinna, paired with custom Jimmy Choo couture heels and her golden hair flowing in loose waves almost to her waist, the bride was every bit as breath-taking as Katniss knew she would be.  Holding her close to his side with an affectionate smile on his face was Peeta.   He looked equally handsome in a perfectly tailored white suit with gold accents at his throat, breast pocket and cuffs.
Though Cinna never talked to her about it – most likely to spare her feelings - Katniss knew he’d worked closely with Portia, the designer who created Peeta’s outfit, to ensure the bride and groom perfectly complimented each other on their special day.
She couldn’t help looking carefully at Peeta’s left hand now placed on Glimmer’s waist expecting to see the shiny glint of a new gold band on his finger but he didn’t appear to be wearing one.
That’s odd. She thought. No wedding ring?
She always thought Peeta was the type of guy would like to wear a ring when he got married.
When they were dating he was always very open about showing his feelings for her, and would tease her gently when she got embarrassed by his frequent public displays of affection.  “I want the whole world to know I’m yours,” he’d told her, more than once, gently tugging on the end of her braid as she’d scowl.
Unable to continue watching him display affection for another woman was more then she could bear and she pushed the phone away.
“They make a very lovely couple,” Katniss said quietly. “I hope they’ll be very happy together”.
Prim snorted out loud. “Katniss did you even read what’s under the video?” she held the phone up again.
“The Show Must Go On!”
An official spokesperson for the Snow family declined to comment following the cancellation of the nuptials between heiress Glimmer Snow, granddaughter of Coriolanus Snow, and her fiancé Peeta Mellark, Culinary Director for the “Arena” chain of restaurants owned by the Snow Corporation.  However the brother of the groom, Mr Ryan Mellark, confirmed that the decision by the couple not to proceed with the wedding was both “mutual and loving” and that the couple would remain friends.
“I don’t understand,” Katniss looked to her sister, confused.  “Are you telling me they didn’t get married?”
“Yep.  No wedding. They called it off at the last minute but went ahead with the dinner and reception anyway, which is kind of cool.  One of Rory’s classmates was working the bar for the evening and he says it turned into one hell of a party. But then I guess the Snow family does know how to do things in style.”
“Wow. I wonder what happened to make them call it off.” Katniss stared into space as she tried to process this new information.   She’d purposely avoided all news and social media over the weekend, hoping that if she distanced herself the sooner she’d be able to forget the intense look in Peeta’s eyes as she’d driven away from the hotel.  “So much time, money and effort went into those dresses, poor Cinna worked for days hand beading the reception dress—"
Prim rolled her eyes.
“Lord almighty Katniss, you can be so dumb sometimes,” she took another sip of her wine.  “Isn’t it obvious what happened?  Peeta claps eyes on you again for the first time in forever and the next day his wedding is called off.  He still loves you.”
“That’s not true.” Katniss jumped off the sofa and quickly gathered her wine glass and the near empty bottle.  “Don’t say that.  Why would you say something like that?”
“Hey, give that back!” Prim tried to grab the wine bottle from her as she stomped past into the kitchen and began angrily slamming their dirty dishes into the dishwasher.   It wasn’t long before she heard her sister’s soft footsteps behind her.
“I’m sorry Katniss, I didn’t mean to upset you.” Prim apologised quietly.  “I’m worried about you, that’s all.  You haven’t been yourself since you found out Peeta was getting married.”
Katniss sighed.  “I’m fine Prim, really.  You’ve no need to worry about me.  Peeta and I were over a lifetime ago.  I’m over it.  I know absolutely nothing about his life now.”
Prim tilted her head and regarded her sister with cool blue eyes.  “Will you ever tell me what happened between the two of you?  You’ve never given me a straight answer.”
“Does it matter now?”
Prim shrugged. “I’d like to understand.  I was still a kid when you two broke up and no one bothered to explain what was going on to me.  It was confusing.  All I knew was one day you were getting ready to leave for college, the next you were staying in District 12 and applying for any low paid job you could get.  Why didn’t you go?”
“Because things changed,” Katniss scowled. “Family comes first.”
Prim squinted. “Really, Katniss? You’ve fobbed me off with that line for years.  I was hoping you were finally ready to open up with a few more details. I know you loved Peeta, don’t bother denying it.  Your feelings for him weren’t the problem.  Or his for you, everyone could see how bad the guy had it for you.  It wasn’t Mom, or money issues.  She was fine then and you had a full scholarship.  There’s something else you’re not telling me.”
“All right, if you want to know I’ll tell you.”  Katniss reached up into a small cupboard a produced a bottle of whiskey and two shot glasses.  “Follow me.  This conversation is going to require something a bit stronger than wine.”
Settled back on the sofa once again, she tossed back a shot and took a deep breath.
“Peeta accused me of cheating on him,” she began.  “When I tried to defend myself, he didn’t believe me.  He chose to take his brother’s word over mine.”
“No way.” Prim gasped, her eyes widening.
“It’s true.  Rye told Peeta he caught me making out with Gale after a graduation party at Madge’s house.  Rye didn’t believe me when I told him that Gale kissed me, that I didn’t invite it and I didn’t kiss him back.  After cussing me out and calling me a few choice names he went straight to Peeta and told him.”
“Oh, shit.”  Prim’s mouth dropped open.  She picked up a full shot glass and threw it back before fixing her sister with a stare.  “Okay. In the interest of full disclosure I have to ask – did you make out with Gale?”
“Of course not!” Katniss yelled.  “Gale was my friend!  I’d known him since we were kids.   Besides, Madge liked him and I wouldn’t do that to a friend.”
“But did you like him?  Let’s face it, Gale is attractive.  In a Hemsworth kind of way.”
“No. I only ever saw him like a cousin, or maybe an older brother.  I never felt anything romantic for Gale.  It shocked the hell out of me when he kissed me.  We didn’t talk for a long time afterwards.”
“Okay, okay, I just needed to clarify that.  Continue, please.“
“Peeta and I had a huge fight and he broke up with me.  He was horrible to me Prim.”  Katniss voice cracked a little as the memories assaulted her.   “He wouldn’t give me a chance to defend myself. He was so mean, I’d never seen him like that before.  He was like a totally different person.”
Katniss felt the familiar sting starting to build behind her eyes and bit her lip in order to try and gain some control over her emotions.  It still hurt, remembering the words that came out of his mouth.
“He asked me had I led Gale on, and told me to crawl back to the slag heap I came from.”
“Oh my god, Katniss,” Prim’s eyes softened and reached towards her sister “I’m so sorry—"
“Wait! It gets worse!” Katniss let out a hard laugh.  “As if that wasn’t bad enough, somehow Peeta’s evil bitch of a mother found out about what happened.  She called Mom and threatened her. She told her that if her seam slut of a daughter went ahead with her plans to go to the same school as her son, that she’d report her to Child Protective Services for neglect.  She’d tell them about Mom leaving us alone at night while she worked, and that you would be left at home by yourself at 14 if I left town for school. She even knew about the bouts of depression after Dad died.  All stuff I’d confided in Peeta about.”
“I can’t believe what I’m hearing.” Prim jumped of the sofa and started to pace up and down. “It’s so unfair.  And untrue!  Mom and I talked about what would happen when you went to school, I was going to stay overnight with Hazelle at the Hawthornes when she was on nights!”
“You know that and I know that, but Mom was terrified.  She didn’t know what to do.”
Katniss downed another shot.
“After she threatened Mom, I tried talking to Rye one more time.  I begged him again to believe me that what he saw wasn’t real, but he insisted I was lying.  That Gale had been seen at the slag heap with a girl from the Seam, and I must have made it worth it when he could have had Madge instead of my skinny ass.  His words.  I never really understood that part.”  She frowned.
“I told him about his mother’s threats and he finally said he’d talk to his Dad about keeping her off our Mom’s back, but only for your sake and only if I agreed to stop trying to contact Peeta.  So I did what he wanted.  I gave up my college place and started applying for jobs and signed up for a few classes at the Community College.”
“So, it was me.” Prim’s eyes filled with tears and she crawled towards her sister and wrapped her arms around her in a fierce hug. “You did it for me.”
Katniss shrugged like it was no big deal. “You’re my sister. I’d give my life for yours in a heartbeat.”
“You’re such a dumbass but I love you.” Prim began to cry harder. “You sacrificed so much Katniss.  Your education.  Your future.  Peeta. I’ve never seen you as happy as when you two were together, not even when you were with Darius.”
“Hush now, no more of that talk.” Katniss soothed her crying sister, tears forming in her own eyes. “It all worked out for the best in the end.   I was here when Mom got sick and I took on a second job to help pay the bills.  We got by, and we stayed together. That’s what Dad would have wanted.  Family comes first.”
“Peeta was a part of our family. He was like a brother to me when I was a kid.” Prim sniffed.  “Why didn’t he believe you?  And what the fuck was Rye’s problem?”
“I don’t know.  All I know is his mother always hated me, but I never knew Rye did too. Peeta and Rye were always close, and once Rye started filling Peeta’s head with lies I just couldn’t get through to him after that.  He never spoke to me again after he broke up with me.  A few weeks later he left town for school and I never saw him again until that day on the steps of his hotel.”
“Katniss, I don’t know what to say. I am so sorry.  It sounds like his mind was poisoned by his brother and that horrible old witch who gave birth to him.  God, I’d love to give her a piece of my mind.  As for Rye? I swear, if I ever see that guy again I will dick punch him.”
“I saw Rye the day before the wedding, he has mellowed quite a bit,” Katniss continued to stroke Prim’s blonde hair soothingly, taking comfort from the continuous motion herself. “He was almost pleasant once he realized I had a legitimate reason for being there.”
“I owe you so much Katniss,” Prim sat up, wiping her eyes on her sleeve.  “Because of your support, I got to come here, go to school, do everything you missed out on.  Everything I’ve achieved is because you.  How can I ever repay a debt like that?”
“Don’t worry, you can pay for my luxury retirement home on the beach in District Four when you find the cure for cancer,” Katniss quipped and laughed as Prim hit her with a cushion.
Later that night, after Prim had left and Katniss was getting ready for bed, she couldn’t help but look for a small box she kept hidden in the furthest corner of her closet.
Inside were a few sentimental items that even after ten years, she never had the heart to throw away.
A pencil drawing of a dandelion he’d put into her locker one day, after she told him they made her think of him.
A movie stub from their first date.  She smiled at the memory.  Peeta had taken her to see “I Am Legend” and got embarrassed when he cried over the dog, Sam, dying.   It was still one of her favorite movies.
A photo of them together at Senior Prom, and another of their High School Graduation, big smiles on their faces just days before he broke up with her and her world came crashing down.
“Oh Peeta,” she mumbled, “why didn’t you believe me?”  She sniffed.  No, she wasn’t going to cry.  She’d already done enough of that for this lifetime.
“… maybe you should crawl back to the slag heap you come from.”
She felt a spark of anger in her own stomach when she recalled the things he’d accused her of.  It was an old spark, but one that had helped her keep going and moving forward over the years.   She slammed the box shut and shoved it back in the darkest recess of her closet before crawling into her bed.  She had run from the bakery that day.  Run from his words and the rage and hurt in blue eyes that had only ever looked at her with softer emotions.
She closed her own eyes and pulled the covers over her head, hoping she wouldn’t be hearing them over and over in her nightmares that night.

anonymous asked: Why do people (mainly R*gan fans) always trash Rory for rejecting Logan's proposal and use their revival storyline as an excuse for that? "She should've said yes as it is she is going to be his mistress?" What do you think about that?
I think that not enough of his fans are willing to hold him up to the same standard as Rory because if they did, they'd also question why Logan proposed to her in public and pushed an ultimatum towards her over their relationship right after her graduation ceremony, or why he couldn't have at least talked to her beforehand about the idea of being married right after she finished or possibly moving with him before he decided to spring up the question. R*gan fans love to say that they still care about Rory in the revival when most of the ones I've seen obviously don't, in fact a lot of them hold this weird contempt for her as a character because she's somehow solely responsible for the position Logan is in as if he isn't a man in his thirties who by now should be more than capable of leading his own independent life that should be separate from whatever his family's expectations of him are and should be held responsible for that. Like the amount of arguments I've seen that basically boil down to "Rory was a bitch for not freeing Logan from the clutches of his family and just asking him to marry her instead" from them is ridiculous as if again, Logan somehow isn't an adult who works his own job by now? This constant idea they push that Logan "would be ready to give it up for her but only if she asked" is something I especially hate because it paints Logan as this overly passive dependent man who apparently can't for the life of him choose his own way, so he has to get the girl he dated seriously in university to do it for him, and it places such a huge amount of weight on Rory as if she's Logan's mother so she has to make all these decisions for him? It's just a really gross way of rendering their dynamic when the main reason why r*gan fans proclaim to love the ship is because "he took care of her", but apparently they have no trouble admitting that they actually need Rory to take care of him and change him because he can't do any of it himself I guess.
They also seem to love forgetting that Rory only declined Logan's proposal but she never broke up with him. He did that himself, he placed an ultimatum for her where he said that it has to be all or nothing, and mind you this doesn't just include them getting married. It included them moving on the opposite side of the country in a house that only Logan had a say in picking out, with Rory possibly being thousands of miles away from her mother and her former home and family, and without any previous applications or knowledge of open job positions for her. And this isn't the same as the Obama campaign because that would've likely been a year-long work event at most, getting married and living in California is far different. And it's not even like Logan somehow didn't know that she wasn't interested in moving so far away from her family when Rory stated that she was interested in moving to Chicago at the most, it was obvious that she wasn't intending to move or permanently live so far away from her family. The proposal is pretty much Logan laying down his own wants for their relationship without taking any of Rory's personal wishes into consideration, so I really hate how everyone takes to dumping all the responsibility of it on her as if her own life has absolutely no meaning in this relationship at all?
Which brings me to the affair in the revival for which I'm just gonna echo the opinion that I wrote beforehand: "it's not Rory's job to maintain or command what Logan does with his personal life, therefore it's not her fault or responsibility in the slightest that they're not together in the end". Yes, Rory does choose to have an affair with him, but she also accepts that it's gotta end and makes that clear both times to him. Also, Rory's not capable of reading her own future or what will happen 10 years further into her life. Why should she be blamed for not accepting his proposal when again, it would've included her uprooting her life to a state and city that she never expressed any wish in moving into?

Chapter Two
Tim was sat on the couch looking through the news feed on his phone, keeping up to date with everything going on not just in Gotham but the rest of the world. It sufficed to say that Tim rarely ever quit working after he became Robin at the age of 15, now he was 19 and wasn't even Robin anymore. He was Red Robin, one of Gotham's protectors along with the rest of his family.
"Master Tim, would you be so kind as to take your feet off of the couch I just vacuumed?" Alfred asked, holding a tray with a mug of coffee on it.
Tim bent his head backward to look at the English butler and gave him a sheepish smile. "Sorry, Alf."
"Apology accepted, now would you please remind your brothers that we are expecting a guest?" Alfred requested, handing Tim the mug of coffee he had asked for 20 minutes before. Tim gave him a nod and rose to his feet, taking a large sip of the coffee. "Also, remind them I want the manor to stay clean until they arrive."
Tim gave Alfred yet another nod. "Sure thing, also thank you for the coffee." he smiled and walked out of the sitting room. Knowing his brothers, they would be down in the Batcave prepping for the night's patrol. Something Tim did 3 hours prior. Turning the handles on the clock in the study, Tim drank half of his coffee in one gulp before descending the stairs.
What he saw when he got down there was no surprise to him. Of course Dick, Jason and Damian were all down there but so was Stephanie and Barbara. Cass was still in Japan on Batman Inc. business and wouldn't be back for another month.
There stood Stephanie in her average daily wear, with what looked to be jumbo marshmallows shoved into her mouth with Dick and Jason egging her on. He didn't have to see the look on Babs' face to see that she did not approve, and Damian was his usual self standing off to the side observing the others' antics.
"Guys, Alfred told me to remind you that our guests are arriving." he sipped more coffee and stood by Barbara and his assumptions were right. Steph was, for some unknown reason, shoving jumbo marshmallows into her mouth.
"Yeah, yeah. Timmy, you have to look at this. Steph has 14 jumbo marshmallows in her mouth. 14!" Dick said, clearly excited.
Damian huffed, "Why don't you tell him why she has 14 marshmallows in her mouth?"
Tim looked at his siblings, obviously it had something to do with Dick and Jason because they were to most excited about it. Knowing them, it was some kind of bet to see how many marshmallows she could fit into her mouth which would also explain the look of disapproval from Barbara. One wrong move and Steph would either spit them all over or choke and need CPR.
"Jason made a bet to Dick on how many she can fit didn't he?" Tim asked.
"Bold of you to assume that I started this babybird." Jason retorted.
"Did you?"
"Of course I did."
Tim rolled his eyes and looked at the clock on his phone, according to Alfred their guests were an hour away and Bruce wanted everyone to meet them. Like clockwork, Bruce appeared and took one look at his kids and let out a long sigh.
"Why is it that everytime we have people coming over, at least two of you do something stupid?" he asked, as Stephanie shoved two more marshmallows making Dick grin wider.
"Oh come on B, at least let us finish this bet. I am 3 away from winning. I bet she could fit 20 in her big mouth, Dick bet 18." Jason said, not turning to look at Bruce.  "Besides, what's so important about these people anyway?"
"Oliver Queen is bringing his ward to stay with us for a while. They've been having some trouble and they thought I could help." he explained, crossing his arms and watched as Steph fit yet two more marshmallows maxing it out at 18 like Dick bet.
"Ha! I told you she could fit 18!" he taunted, pointing a finger in Jason's face.
"Don't ha me yet Dickiebird. If she fits two more, I win." Jason grinned, pushing Dick's hand away.
Bruce dropped his head in defeat. There was no way they were going to listen to him when they were like this. Everyone watched as Steph grabbed 2 more marshmallows and began to fit one into her mouth much to Dick's dismay. Jason crossed his fingers as she tried to push the last one in to make it 20, but gagged halfway through and spat them all over the floor.
"19! I win! Take that Jason, you have to bake me cookies now." Dick cried triumphantly. Jason however did not look that impressed.
"You lost too looser, she had 19. Not 18."
"Jay, that's not how it works. She got to my number not yours. I win." Dick argued.
The next thing they knew, Jason was trying to put Dick into a headlock who just kept flipping away out of his hold only making Jason try harder.
"Master Richard, Master Jason! Stop fighting and come up stairs. Our guests are almost here." Alfred announced, appearing at Bruce's side. Both boys stopped and rubbed the back of their necks.
"Sorry, we'll be right up."  Dick said and began to help Barbara upstairs.
"What's so important about Oliver's kid anyway? Did he blow up a building or something." Jason asked, heading for the stairs.
"Rory has been having problems, I think we can help." Bruce explained yet again.
"His name is Rory?" Damian asked, crossing his arms. "Sounds stupid."
"Master Damian, there will be no name calling of our guest. Understood?" Alfred scolded. Damian huffed again and gave him a nod.
Tim was the last one up the stairs, with Alfred right behind him. So the guy's name was Rory, what did he look like and what problems was he having? With their eventual arrival, Tim would find out soon enough.
About 20 minutes later, everyone was in the main lobby awaiting Oliver and his ward.
"What do we even know about this guy?" Jason asked.
"Jay, can you not be suspicious of everyone?" Stephanie asked, leaning over to look at him.
"Being suspicious of everyone keeps you alive, big mouth." Jason replied with a smirk.
"Who are you calling big mouth?! If anyone is the big mouth it is you!" she yelled at him, a frown upon her face.
"I'm not the one who put 19 jumbo marshmallows in my mouth on a bet!" Jason yelled back, and like everytime someone starts a yelling match, everyone began yelling at each other.
"Enough!" Bruce yelled, his voice vibrating off the walls of the manor. Immediately, everyone went quiet with the occasional mumble of "Sorry, Bruce."
Tim played with his fingers, there were a million other things he could be doing at the moment but they were waiting on Oliver and Rory to show up. The name Rory sounded familiar to him as well, years ago he knew someone by that name but there was no way they were the same person. His Rory was a girl for starters and Oliver's was a boy, so they couldn't be the same person.
There was a knock on the door and everyone straightened up. Alfred opened the door and in walked Oliver Queen with a few suitcases. "Hey Alfie! Long time no see!" he cried.
Alfred gave him a smile. "Nice to see you again Master Oliver." Oliver gave Alfred a pat on the back and looked back out the dor.
"Come on Rory!" he called. The person who appeared through the door next surprised everyone.
Rory Queen was in fact not a boy. Rory Queen was a girl, and not just any girl. Rory Queen was Tim's childhood best friend.
"Everyone, meet Aurora Queen." Bruce introduced.
Rory's eyes looked around and assessed everyone in the room, she went from Alfred to Bruce to the line behind him. The boy at the end of the line caught her eye. The first words out of her mouth were not in greeting at all.
"Tim? What the fuck are you doing here?" she asked.
Immeadiately, everyone's eyes turned to look at Tim. "What, you know her?" Dick asked curiously.
Tim was speechless, he hadn't seen Rory in 13 years and she looked the same. Of course the last time he had seen her she was 7 and he was 6, she had grown but her eyes and smile were still the same. All Tim could do was nod in response.
"Wait, you knew she was a girl and neither you nor Bruce thought to tell the rest of us?" Jason cut in.
"Well, I didn't want to ruin your assumption Jason. Maybe you should think before daring someone to put 20 jumbo marshmallows in their mouth." Bruce stated, a small grin on his face. "But I had no idea Tim knew her."
"In his defense, it's been 13 years and I was Aurora Sonnet then." Rory stated, looking at Tim who seemed to be in shock.
"Timmy? Hello? Earth to Timmy?" Steph said, waving her hand in front of his face. Tim's mind was going a million miles a minute.
Why the hell was she Aurora Queen and not Aurora Sonnet? Clearly Oliver was her father figure now, so what did that mean about her parents? Last he checked he was still married to Dinah, so he couldn't be her stepfather. Bruce had also said she was Oliver's ward like Tim and the rest were to him.
So that left only one option, Michael and Clara Sonnet were dead and he didn't know until now.
Snapping himself out of his thoughts, he finally found his voice. "Yeah, we were kids. She moved to Star City because she got into a prestigious ballet school." Tim explained. "How is that going by the way" he asked.
Rory's face fell, the thought of dance always brought her back to her parents and these days she just didn't have the heart to dance anymore. "I stayed until I graduated 4 years ago."
"4 years ago? But that means you would have been like 15 when you graduated?" Dick asked, clearly confused. She was about the same age as Tim right?
"I was 16, I did highschool in 2 years."
Everyone's jaw dropped. Not only was Rory Queen a girl, a pretty one at that but she was a genius and a vigilante like them. It wasn't long before the gears started to turn in Dick and Stephanie's heads, knowing someone close to them who was just like that.
"Well, you are welcome here Miss Queen." Alfred said with a smile.
"I'm leaving her in your capable hands Alfie. Take care of her." Oliver ruffled Rory's hair, "I have to get going, Dinah can only do so much without me. Be good and for the love of everything do not bleach the cape again." he said giving her a quick kiss on the forehead and headed out the door.
"That was you!?" Stephanie yelled, "I had never seen Bruce so angry, how did you do it?"
Rory went to open her mouth, but Bruce stopped whatever she was about to say. "Never mind the cape getting bleached, she is not telling you because I know at least two of you would try to replicate it." he pointed his gaze at Jason and Steph.
"I feel as if we should be insulted that he would asume we would try it." Steph mumbled.
"Do you blame him? Have you not seen the things we have done?" Jason laughed, and shook his head.
"Enough about the bleached cape, Rory let me introduce my family." Bruce said. He gestured to the first person in line, he was tall with black hair and blue eyes. "This is Dick."
Dick stuck his hand out, Rory taking it and giving it a good shake. "Nice to meet you Rory, I hope you'll enjoy your stay here." he said with a charming smile.
The next person in line looked Rory over with a slight smirk. "Jason Todd, I'd say the same but half the time I don't enjoy it here." he said, making Rory laugh a  little. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
Next to Jason was a blonde girl, immediately she took Rory's hand and shook it. "The name's Stephanie, glad we finally have another woman in the house. Babs and I are being suffocated with all the testosterone." she chuckled.
Rory let out a chuckle, "Glad I could balance it out."
Next to Stephanie was another female but she had red hair, Rory could only asume this was the Babs she mentioned. Barabara reached up and shook Rory's hand. "I look forward to working with you." she smiled.
Next to Babs was another boy, but he was shorter and had a darker complexion and actually resembled Bruce a little. Rory stuck her hand out, only for him to reject it completely with a huff. "Sonnet." was all he said.
"That's Damain, he isn't a people person." Tim said from his side.
"Are you sure you're even a person Drake and not just some robot Father concocted?" Damian retorted.
"Ooh, been working on that one all day little D?" Tim taunted, making Damian glare at him. "Tt, whatever." he mumbled.
It was then Rory turned her attention to Tim, the best friend she hadn't seen in over a decade. She didn't know how to address him, was Tim okay or did he prefer Timothy now? Should she hug him, but they weren't that close anymore so it could be overstepping boundaries. She looked at Tim and it seemed that he was thinking just as hard if not harder about their situation.
Rory followed her instincts and pulled Tim into a tight embrace. "I missed you, Tim." she mumbled softly. She felt Tim's arms wrap themselves around her and hold her just as tight.
"I missed you too songbird." he smiled.

Gilmore Girls
Tumblr media
Lorelai & Her Parents
At 16 Lorelai was rebellious against anything her parents did or said & she’s the same way even in Year in the Life where she’s in her late 40’s. She has zero open communication with her mom...still.
She never listens to her parents, avoids their calls, tries to get her daughter to be the go between on several occasions.
Lorelai whines, bitches & moans about her parents being the root of all evil. The way she talks we would expect them to be Joseph Stalin (a comparison she made herself in that magazine interview about the Inn).
However, we never see or hear anything that bad about her parents. Nothing unforgivable. They’re just normal loving parents who have strong opinions & are sometimes pushy.
Tumblr media
Lorelai gave birth to Rory when she was 16. No parent would be thrilled at the idea their child just made their lives considerably more challenging for themselves. Parents generally want their kids to have better lives than they had.
In flashbacks we see Richard & Emily being good parents. Posh & proper they took parent in lots of events & rituals Lorelai didn’t like. Such as sitting for a portrait & wearing fancy dresses etc
Lorelai’s seen joking with Christopher & in good spirits. She’s not traumatized or being abused in any way.
We never see them being cruel, angry, or abusive to her. They definitely wanted her to follow suit. To do what they say...to listen...and to learn from them.
Lorelai rejected all of that. She’s not good at any of those things.
However they still seemed like good parents. Great even.
When they realize Lorelai’s pregnant they are shocked & disappointed. Immediately they jump into protective mode. Richard suggests helping Chris join the family & the kids could get married... his attempt to salvage her reputation. He knows how cruel people can be especially from the upper class elites whom of which can be petty.
Both Richard & Emily want to fix the mistake so they jump in. Christopher even said he wanted to marry Lorelai & he seemed excited about having the baby. Lorelai just looked annoyed at all of it.
We also see that she pushes them away again & again.
When she goes to the hospital alone they rush to be by her side. And she still acts annoyed. They wanted to help someone they love & she was annoyed!
In the flashbacks we see that Lorelai & baby Rory were living with Richard & Emily for at least a few weeks. Her parents seemed to be okay with the living situation.
A nice house, no rent, all expenses paid, and they mentioned a nanny...to which Lorelai felt she had to escape. What??
Seriously, she wanted zero help from everyone & anyone. That’s not just being independent that’s being blinded by pride.
And after her parents did everything for her, Lorelai runs away with baby Rory.
That’s completely selfish. I could imagine how painful that would be for her parents.
To make matters worse, it’s said several times in the early part of the series that Emily never got to see how Lorelai raised Rory...and that they barely ever got see or talk to Rory when she was little.
Tumblr media
In fact, the first interaction we see of Rory & her grandparents it’s like Rory doesn’t know them. It’s like they’re being introduced to each other.
So...basically Lorelai didn’t try to have her parents involved in Rory’s life. She didn’t encourage a relationship with them - that is so incredibly spiteful & selfish.
When Emily finally meets the owner of the Independence Inn we see that she was upset about all that missing time. She didn’t have pictures of Lorelai or Rory during that time. It’s so...sad.
Season one has Rory getting into Chilton & it’s an excuse for her parents to get involved in their lives. They see it as an opportunity to get to know Rory. They pay for Chilton in exchange for Friday night dinners.
Tumblr media
Even though they made a deal & Lorelai gave her word to have weekly dinners with her parents she still tries throughout the series to get out of them. It’s so rude & she’s so ungrateful.
Lorelai always whines about the dinners. But they were good! They get nice food, sit in comfort & have good company. She often looks like she’s having fun but later complains about them. There were only a handful of bad dinners in the series with her parents.
So why did she always complain about them?
Because she’s ungrateful for everything her parents did for her.
Tumblr media
Good things Richard & Emily did for Lorelai:
* They raised her in a loving, stable home
* She had a good education
* They taught her good morals
* She was always fed & taken care of
* They tried to help when she was pregnant & provided support once the baby was born
* In season 1, Lorelai hurts her back & Emily takes care of her
* They paid for Chilton & Yale
* Their only request (or as Lorelai called it they ‘demanded’) to spend time with their daughter & grand daughter in exchange for the schools’ tuition.
* Despite not being invited by their daughter (because Lorelai assumes they wouldn’t want to go), both Richard & Emily attend Lorelai’s college graduation as the proudest parents in the world.
* They bought Rory an over the top high school graduation gift- a car- to which Lorelai barely thanked them.
* Richard taught Rory to golf & showed her around the country club.
* Richard was a mentor for a school project of Rory’s
* Emily encouraged Rory several times to make friends with her classmates
* Emily encouraged school involvement to help make those friends & for college. She stated something along the lines that it would help for everything.
* They remain friendly with Christopher (Rory’s father) even though he’s rarely around & they don’t like the fact he & Lorelai never got married. They know it’s important to be civil as he’s Rory’s father & they hope eventually the situation would improve.
* Emily is super nice to Jess upon their first meeting even though she thinks Rory is too good for him. She kept her opinion to herself, except when she had a private conversation with Lorelai.
* Emily helps Rory navigate parties & the DAR, making sure her grand daughter would be prepared for life of the upper society instead of leaving her to flounder.
* Emily prints out a list of tips for ways in which Rory can avoid getting stabbed in prison (during her community service)
* Richard defends Rory’s honour when he realizes Mitchum Huntzberger had upset her.
* Likewise Emily gives a great verbal thrashing to Shira Huntzberger in response to the woman having humiliated Rory
* Even when he’s not speaking with Lorelai, Richard helps take care of the insurance at the Dragonfly Inn.
* There were lots of warm family exchanges between them & Rory. Some warm exchanges between them & Lorelai too.
* When Rory ran to her grandparents, breaking down & basically begged them for help, they gave it to her. They took care of her.
* When Rory got arrested they never gave her a hard time or judged. They tried to help.
* They were still open to Logan being in Rory’s life even though his parents treated her poorly.
Not so good moments of theirs:
* Richard breaks business ties with Digger, going behind his back & working for his father
* Richard manipulates the situation so that while visiting Yale Rory has a meeting with the dean
* Emily throws the Yale (boys) party to try to get Rory to meet someone new as she’s too good for Dean (it worked, because she was too good for him)
* When they feared for Rory’s ‘virtue’. Old fashioned, yes. They felt her being a virgin until marriage was the way to go so they set up an awkward dinner with a pastor to talk sense into her. Good intentions but it was none of their business.
People have a lot of opinions about who was responsible for the rift between Lorelai & her parents.
What I think is this:
When Lorelai ran away with baby Rory, it was her fault. She took off, pushed them away & refused help.
Being rich & powerful, they could have won custody. All they had to do was get a private investigator to take pictures of the shed Lorelai & Rory were living in. Prove that Lorelai (who refused help from anyone) left Rory alone while she cleaned rooms at the Independence Inn.
It would be easy for them.
However, they didn’t do that. They actually gave Lorelai space & took what scraps of contact she was willing to give.
During the series (even with nothing triggering it) Lorelai pushes her parents away, bad mouths them, constantly hides big life events from them (her college graduation, not one but TWO engagements! , etc)...and she humiliated Emily by giving that mean interview about her when she should have talked about the Dragonfly Inn.
However, when Richard betrayed Digger, that caused tension. When he forced Rory to talk to the Yale Dean, it caused a rift. Not approving of Luke caused tension but they still supported Lorelai even though they didn’t like him.
Supporting Rory’s decision to drop out of school was huge. They supported her, thinking it was the right thing. Then Richard laid it out for Lorelai (because Rory was too chicken shit to stand up for her mom more than once a year 🤷‍♀️) .
It was what Rory wanted but Lorelai felt it was all her parents’ fault, which wasn’t true.
Emily even tried to encourage Rory to talk to Lorelai a few times. Finally getting through to her with the invitations to her birthday party.
And Lorelai showed up to the party & acted like she wanted to kill them. Emily asked how Luke was & Lorelai jumped down her throat...and of course that was when we realized that again Lorelai didn’t tell her parents she was going to marry Luke.
Another knife wound.
Emily & Richard are critical but they also learn & evolve. They both are pragmatic so while Emily was underhanded in inviting Christopher to the vow renewal, I get it. Emily wanted to see if she can piece the family back together - choosing one of the few times where she’s getting along with Lorelai. She probably thought that if he saw Lorelai at a wedding he’d want to marry her & vice versa. Kill two birds with one stone.
Yes it was shitty because Lorelai was with Luke; however, if that had been a healthy relationship (there were lots of issues) it wouldn’t have imploded the way it did. Later when the two have a healthier relationship both Richard & Emily are more accepting of Luke.
Even during Emily’s emotional breakdown where she wanted to buy that plane she suggested that Lorelai & Luke can use it - showing at that point she’d accepted the relationship.
So who was to blame for the rift?
Both...but mostly Lorelai.
Tumblr media
While I can understand the argument that she had been raised in a way she didn’t like, you can’t place blame on that.
Lorelai felt suffocated at 16 but she didn’t just need space, she wanted to cruelly ditch her parents.
You definitely can’t blame her parents for the way she acted towards them at 30-something. Because adults are responsible for themselves. You have issues with someone? Talk! Communicate! Even if that involves arguing.
Suck it up, address the issues then figure out how to fix it.
I feel like Emily & Richard did this a lot. They struggled sometimes but eventually they worked things out. But Lorelai kept pushing them away & shut them out of her life.
Even in Year in the Life. She still resented her father so much that she couldn’t remember a single good memory about him at the funeral. Then she acted angry at Emily when she was upset. Emily had every right to be.
They go to therapy because after all these years they can’t talk to each other. Still. Well, we know Emily is very vocal so who could be to blame? Perhaps the fact Lorelai was keeping her therapy from Luke was a bit telling.
In any case, whomever you blame for the problems, I think we all can agree it would have been nice if the show had more flashbacks so we can see why Lorelai resented and (at times) hated her parents.
Nothing I saw in the series was enough to be that angry with them & to run away or barely see them in 16 years. Were they stifling? Yes. Controlling? A little bit but parents often are. Annoying? Yes.
Abusive, cruel, mean, neglectful? No, no, no, and no.
In my family, we talk & occasionally yell. We don’t have to like what each other is doing but hey that’s family. But we do try to talk. Sometimes things come up that annoys us but we deal with it.
Lorelai’s family wasn’t perfect. That’s fine, but why wouldn’t she want to see them? Why would she take a situation about her neurotic mother & think it was funny to tell perfect strangers & to compare herself to a murdering dictator?
You have to be pretty heartless to do that...even if Lorelai didn’t realize it would be in print. I don’t care how annoyed I get I would NEVER talk about my parents like that.
So, why does Lorelai? What happened to her that she thinks this is okay? What (if any) shady things did her parents do to deserve something like that?
I wish the show could have shown us because the absence of information just feels like Lorelai is cruel & vindictive
Tumblr media
I personally think Lorelai just never grew up. She acts immature even in later seasons so I believe she has the same mentality as she did when she was 16. She assumes several times the worst about her parents when the were just being straight forward or asking simple questions.
Like, for example, Rory’s invitation to her birthday party. Lorelai assumes it was a manipulation by Emily but her daughter was just reaching out to her. Instead of checking to see if she was actually welcome she - like a child - ignores it & would rather miss Rory’s birthday then deal with 2 minutes of awkwardness on the phone to get clarification. She just assumes there is no possible way she’d ever be wrong. Keep in mind at this point Lorelai is supposed to be around 38.
She’s not a child, she’s not naive nor stupid. She’s merely self involved. She thinks how she thinks, never bends, & can’t possibly comprehend the fact that her parents genuinely love her & try any means in which they can see her & their grand daughter.
In later seasons we can see how heartbroken her parents were still about missing out on Lorelai’s life. Emily starts making suggestions about adding onto the Dragonfly Inn, by having a spa attached. Lorelai brushes it off like it was nothing but Emily was reaching out to her because she was worried she wouldn’t want to do Friday night dinners again.
Tumblr media
And we see in season 7, when the girls attend Mia’s wedding that Emily was still upset by the separation all those years ago. She’s civil while trying to hide her pain. Lorelai was completely oblivious to how upset Emily was. Rory points that out & eventually Lorelai actually understands.
Some people aren’t fans of season 7 but I loved that episode because it showed Emily’s vulnerability & pain and we actually got to see some growth between Lorelai & Emily!
Year in the Life completely shit all over that of course.
The series finale was alright regarding how Lorelai is with her parents. They were in a good place & she reassured her mom that Friday night dinners would continue. Meaning, she would still be in their lives.
I had no complaints about that. Though I still wish we saw more about their past.
What I had hoped to see in Year in the Life was a solid relationship with Lorelai & Emily. After all those years, why wouldn’t they have progressed?
We saw hints that when Lorelai would take her head out of her butt, she actually enjoys time with her parents. Such as having fun with Emily at that fashion show.
And a lot of people get annoyed at their family as teenagers but once they’re grown up & moved out, they have a good relationship with them.
Tumblr media
I wanted, in the Year in the Life, for Emily & Lorelai to still have their banter but be friendly. Meeting up to shop occasionally & such. But instead they’re still in a bad place? After ten years...really?
Seeing that was exhausting. Even as a 40-something woman Lorelai acted like a spoiled brat. Like a teenager, and her mom then treated her like one. It was stupid & disappointing.

I didn't send that ask as a request for an explanation, to me the affair made it clear that even in their 30s, Rory and Logan are unable to properly communicate even when it's absolutely necessary for them to. And I'm sorry, but a guy in his 30s like Logan gets no excuse for 'heartbreak' when he had no trouble breaking Rory's heart in her graduation. Like I said, you can be biased without making up excuses.
Hmmm… well if you are not looking for an explanation of my feelings on the matter, I’m not sure why you’re in my inbox to begin with. I assumed you were wanting to have a discussion. If someone sends me a message and I feel like I have something to add to the conversation, that’s what I’m going to do. If I feel like answering with a knock-knock joke, that’s what I’ll do, whether you requested it or not. I wrote a post on the fact that Logan did not cheat on Rory. You messaged me with the counter argument that even if he didn’t cheat on Rory, he is still a cheater… which I agreed with. He was a cheater in AYITL, nobody can deny that. You also said he had the capability of breaking it off with his fiancé and that he should have stopped treating Rory like a mistress. I agree that he could have but gave you my opinion and reasoning behind why I think it is more complicated than that. I wasn’t trying to excuse their cheating.
Now to clear some things up, since you went there….
First of all, I’m not biased towards Logan. I am perfectly able to see his many flaws that go along with his attributes. I like to keep an open mind to all characters and view them as real people. Real people are not so cut and dry. There are good and bad parts to them. And I think that’s why Gilmore Girls is so popular even 20 years later. The characters are complicated. For that reason, I dislike very few people on the show… like 3, tops (and they are minor characters). Also, as an empathetic person by nature, I tend to imagine myself in the characters shoes, and therefore even if I don’t agree with their actions I can understand why they might have made certain choices.
Just throwing a shot in the dark, but I’m assuming that you are someone who prefers Jess with Rory. That might not be the case, but often the people that are so vehemently against Logan are the ones that are big Jess fans. You might be surprised to discover that I also love Jess. I think he’s a complex character and I especially love how he bonds with Luke and how that relationship helps form him into a better man. I used to be exclusively a Jess/Rory shipper when I was in high school. It was only once I watched the show all the way through as an adult that my views on their relationship changed, but he will always be a special part of GG for me. My ability to have compassion and empathy for Jess is the same ability that helps me have compassion and empathy for Logan. It’s not being biased. It’s just being open minded.
Whether or not they have good communication skills seems irrelevant to my original post or to my response to your message, but since you brought up... I just want to touch on that for a moment. I agree that in AYITL they were poor. I already discussed my views about fear possibly being the main reason behind this in my response to your last message. However, you said “even in their 30s they are unable to properly communicate”, implying that they have never been able to properly communicate. Here I have to disagree. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I believe in the original show, Logan and Rory actually display strong communication skills. Stronger than we see with most of the other couples in the show, especially all of Lorelai’s relationships. It’s really interesting that you brought this up because it’s something that has been on my mind for a few weeks as I make my way through my most recent rewatch. I think I am going to tackle it as its own post in the future. Honestly, as someone in their 30s, that is now one of the things I appreciate the most about Logan and Rory’s relationship. They certainly aren’t always great at communicating. There are several times I can think of off the top of my head where they could have done better. Often during their biggest communication breakdowns it’s Rory just flat out refusing to address the situation (something she does with Lorelai too), but sometimes it’s Logan, like when he took off to Vegas after his financial blunder. But I appreciate that they try, even when it’s a tough conversation to have.
Heartbreak is not exclusive to young people. People in their 30s are just as capable of experiencing heartbreak as people in their teens, or 50s or 80s. Just because you are 10 years older doesn’t mean you have life figured out either. I think that’s pretty clear with Rory’s story line in AYITL. And ‘he broke her heart at her graduation therefore he has no excuse for his own heart break’ is an odd thought process. I’m not even sure what to say about that. I will say that I don’t think it’s fair to say “he had no problem breaking her heart”. I think it pained him very much to walk away but it was what he felt was the right move at the time. His pride and heart were hurt and I think he took her refusal to mean she didn’t love him as much as he loved her. Same goes for Rory. It pained her to break his heart too, but she did what she felt was right at the time. It breaks my heart too but I can’t fault either of them for the way things ended.
Finally, I find it strange that you keep talking about everything like they are things Logan is doing to Rory, like she is just someone who has things happen to her and is not responsible for making her own choices. They are equal partners in this affair. She made herself a mistress (for a second time) by having a relationship with a soon-to-be married man. She knew what she was doing. She could have ended it at any time by either pulling the plug or telling him she wanted more.  And they were equal partners in doling out the heartbreak at her graduation too. She said no to marrying him. She broke his heart too. He was just as hurt as she was.

Gilmore Girls (Credit: Warner Brothers).
Call me late to the game, but I have joined the world of Stars Hollow and fallen in love with the girls we know as the Gilmore Girls, twenty years after it first debuted, and I’m not even mad about it.
Mind you, I had no intention of binging or even finishing the entire show, but as I casually watched one episode on Netflix and found how easily-digestible it was, one episode turned into three, and then it turned into every other day, and then it became a nightly ritual and, well, you know how it goes.
So grew my uncanny obsession with mother-daughter Lorelai and Rory Gilmore’s witty banter, exceptionally close relationship and charming small town, that I became so invested in their world and was able to finish the show in the two months I have returned and been quarantined in my own little small town. (A surprise for me, as someone who hardly ever watches or keeps up with a show, let alone ever binged a show. Seven seasons? Where do I even start, I thought?!)
Twenty years ago, I was just a seven-year-old girl listening to Hilary Duff and the Backstreet Boys while watching teeny-bopper shows and everything on the Disney Channel. I never really got into soapy teen dramas until (obviously) later in my life when I became a proper teenager.
My first reaction to watching Gilmore Girls? Wow. This Rory girl seems a lot like me.
Rory, the shy and introverted goody two-shoes and bookworm who loves school and always hangs out with her single mother and lives and grows up in a small town where everyone knows each other and loves her; and me, a girl who grew up in a town called Pleasant Hill. And if those Chilton uniforms didn’t remind me more of my own private school uniform? Ha, well I don’t really know what to say.
But really, the resemblances are uncanny and watching the show made me think: What would have happened if I had watched this as a girl growing up? Would I have handled situations with boys differently or treasured my girl time and female friendships a whole lot more, if I had seen Rory and Lorelai grow up, interact, and handle regular growing pains alongside me, as well?
As a first-time viewer, the writing and pacing of the show immediately stuck out. It’s incredibly quick and entertaining, witty through and through. I appreciate all of Lorelai’s references to eighties pop culture and Rory finding refuge in classic literature and the strong female characters and feminists I had so long been inspired by, too.
Moreover, it was incredibly comforting to find another person I could see myself reflected in, onscreen, growing up and making mistakes and always trying to do the right thing, but still staying true to who she was all along.
Her experience was so similar to how my adolescence had felt and been: my mom, who had given me all I ever needed to grow up, and me, just wanting to do right by her, was always responsible and loved at school, receiving attention from boys but never really ever cared for it because I was just happy reading a book or playing my guitar, ha.
And if that scene between Dean and Jess getting into a fight over Rory at a party couldn’t feel even more familiar to my high school days — when I was caught in a love triangle with boys who confessed their feelings to me on the same night, pressured me to make a decision, only for me to see their friendships fall apart right in front of me at school. Wow, that was high school in a nutshell, ha! And it was funny to see moments like that played back onscreen, happening to Rory as she had wished for none of it to happen, yet couldn’t really do anything about these boys’ feelings for her at the same time. (I feel you girl.)
The fact Rory wants to travel and pursue journalism as well couldn’t hit it home for me any more. Her university days reminded me of my own writing articles and chasing stories for my school newspaper. And when her and Paris wanted to experience “all the college experiences,” embarking on a cliche spring break trip trying to do “spring break right,” I couldn’t help but giggle as I found myself in college as well, very well knowing I am not the party type, but decided to get “all the college experience” as well, embarking on a Vegas trip with friends which, I do have to say, was a hell of a time.
There are so many moments from the show that have stuck with me, but here are a few memorable thoughts and moments I’ve had:
When Rory said, “I cannot do this alone. I need my mommy and damn it, I don’t care who knows it!” (s3 e13) I think she was speaking for all of us.
“I don’t want to be that kind of girl. That kind of girl who just falls apart because she doesn’t have a boyfriend.” (s1 e17) Yup. Yup, yup Rory. That was me.
Lane and the Kims and their lifelong friendship was just charming, and I couldn’t help but feel for the Asian best friend and strict mom who means well.
Rory and Paris and their ongoing escapades. Man, you can’t help but love them. Their spring break trip was all too relatable: Rory drinking and drunk-calling Dean for the first time and them doing spring break even if they never want to do it again because they realize they just aren’t the partying type. “It’s a college memory. I intend on having as many college memories as possible.” (s4 e17) Yeah, all too relatable. Ha.
Also Paris being that one friend we all know who is a little too much, too bossy, too aggressive, can turn people off but is also one of our very best friends? It was also incredible to see how their “hatred” (and Paris seeming to pop up everywhere Rory was, lol) turned into a real friendship over the years. I loved seeing that.
Rory’s graduation speech: “My mother never gave me any idea that I couldn’t do whatever I wanted to do or be whomever I wanted to be. She filled our house with love and fun and books and music, unflagging in her efforts to give me role models from Jane Austen to Eudora Welty to Patti Smith. As she guided me through these incredible eighteen years, I don’t know if she ever realized that the person I most wanted to be was her.” (s3 e22) That was a moment that made me just cry and tear up, for being a grateful kid myself, but also feeling just how mushy Lorelai must have been feeling as a mother, raising a good kid, all on her own. Ugh. 😭
Oh, Dean and Jess. They represent the boys we all meet and fall in love with when we’re young: Dean, the dependable boyfriend who is ready to give you everything, support you, be there for you, and may always love you even when you might take him for granted; and Jess, the said “bad boy” and mysterious romantic who leaves you hanging onto every single word that makes you fall head over heels for him, even if you know it might be bad for you.
When Rory has sex for the first time (s4 e22): It was such a big, telling, and coming-of-age moment. And you could feel that. I could feel and know exactly how she was feeling: how excited she was, how dumb it was, how one’s feelings get the best of you even when you normally think every action through and make reasons to justify it. God. I was also afraid to see how the show would handle the situation, especially Lorelai. I’m glad she was never quite overbearing to Rory and trusts her and lets her grow as her own individual, but I’m glad she put her foot down and told her how it was not okay for her to sleep with Dean, who was still a married man. #greatmothermoment
When Rory drops out of Yale and takes some time for herself:
I couldn’t have felt more seen. Going back home, bored at home all over again, finding things to preoccupy myself with until I got bored of it and wanted to move on to the next thing, because I genuinely wanted to… that feels very familiar. And it was heartwarming to see her have this moment and want it for herself. I know it may have been a controversial choice for many, but Rory’s quitting school let her evaluate her own choices, have the space and time to figure herself out — who she was beyond what everyone expects her to be — only to realize that she really does want to be a journalist. Her whole life had been predetermined by her surroundings, and we see just how hard of a worker she is, that to have this “slip-up” is actually the best thing she can do for herself — she realizes she can be and is responsible for her own actions. To experience that in college, rather than many years later down the road, is admirable.
And moreover, I appreciate how Lorelai handled the situation. She never forced Rory to do anything or made her feel bad about her decision. Rather, she let Rory have the space and time to want to go back to Yale and school to be a journalist. She realizes that no one can make that decision for her, but her. And I loved that. Another #greatmothermoment.
Even more so, when Jess surprisingly came back and tells her he’s written a book and reminds her that “this isn’t you,” (s6 e8) that moment almost broke my heart. It reminded me of a time I felt so lost myself and a boy who once knew me would be tough on me, because he cared for me and knew who I was and always have been, and wanted me to do “better” because I was better… I think we’ve all had those people who know us very well who tell us hard truths about ourselves. And we don’t really want to listen, but a part of us knows that maybe they’re actually right. 💔
I actually really liked Logan and Rory’s relationship and the sense of trust and maturity they had built since that infamous “You Jump, I Jack” life-and-death brigade episode (s5 e7). Beyond that, Rory and Logan were completely smitten with each other the whole time. They came from worlds that were incredibly similar, yet wanted to be different. I appreciate how Logan knew and acknowledged his privilege and mistakes. I appreciate how Rory made herself clear that she is a “relationship kind of girl” instead of an “every girl” and gets a boy like Logan to stop his ways. (If I had to be honest, I was never that kind of girl, either.) When they said they’d “factor each other in,” they showed ultimate support for each other. And it’s clear that they were each other’s biggest fans. (When Logan took Rory, Lorelai and Luke out for a Valentine’s Day weekend getaway? Wow.) It’s clear they have a lot of chemistry and fun together. And Logan’s smile to Rory. Ugh.
On Lorelai:
I thought Lolelai and Jason were actually kind of cute. A part of me wanted it to work out, but I knew it never would.
Oh man, I had a fat crush on Max Medina too.
I loved seeing Chris and Lorelai stick by each other throughout all those years, and actually try to make it work. He’s a good guy who means well, and it’s clear how comfortable they are with each other, but timing was never on their side.
The letter Lorelai wrote to Luke’s defense to have custody over his daughter legit brought me to tears. Luke really was there for Lorelai and saw Rory grow up. You can’t ever take that back. Ever. Ugh.
What happened between Lorelai and Chris was bound to happen, and I was actually so happy for Lorelai to be with him. I’m incredibly impressed at how the show was able to show such a raw, real and complicated feeling of never really being “in love,” so well.
Emily and Richard: what a hoot of grandparents. I loved all their comic banter. All those Friday night dinners and the show they always put on. Richard’s relationship with Rory was so warm and comforting, and Emily’s incessant complaining and nitpicking was great. But when Emily actually had a moment towards the end explaining to Lorelai how Lorelai was able to be a single mother, independent and all on her own, while she herself has always been a wife, not knowing how to be independent, couldn’t be a more self-aware moment.
After all of this, it’s incredibly refreshing to see a show like Gilmore Girls let its characters be who they are: wholeheartedly immature and charming, unabashedly flawed yet real. And while these characters could be problematic — Lorelai is at times immature and inappropriate, yet means well; her relationship with Rory may be too codependent that Rory ends up dropping everything to tend to her mom; Rory is part of an elite society that comes from wealth and privilege; Emily constantly hates on the help; etc.
As much as the above is true, it’s still inspiring to see how Lorelai and Rory take on — and maybe even take down — their given worlds. They bicker and laugh, whine and moan, lust, laze around and criticize, but they are also incredibly real. Just as we humans can often be short-sighted in our lives, Rory and Lorelai are too. Too often we are given female characters who are either a saint or a sinner, a wife or a girlfriend, a prude or a prostitute, that with Rory and Lorelai, we get both. I think we all are at times a little annoying, yet incredibly fascinating the next. And that’s probably what has made the Gilmore Girls so beloved and such a cult-classic since its debut in 2000: Its heroines are flawed, yet deeply human, just like us all.

Did you know? - Gilmore Girls FAQs, trivia and curiosites
I’ve watched this show so many times, I stopped counting years ago when I reached double digits. Is my favorite show of all times and I’ve been told almost nobody knows it as well as I do, so I decided to put together all the knowledge I’ve gained over the years of trivia tidbits, although in that I’m nowhere near an expert ;) my deal is knowing these characters and their personalities and the lines of the show lol but I figured I’d give it a try and collect all the trivia and tidbits of knowledge I’ve gained over the years in one post that I’ll continue to edit to add more stuff (there are a couple that I didn’t get a chance to add right not that will add later on)
1. Yes, that’s Kirk in guardians of the galaxy 2 http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0348231/. And yes Sam Smith (depending on the photo) does look like Kirk (Sean Gunn). Sean Gunn also played the movements of Rocket the racoon.
Tumblr media
2. And yes that is Jess dad's girlfriend Sasha now as April's mom (yes she was/is in Twin Peaks http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000145/). Amy wanted to work with Sherilyn and rumor has it she was offered the role for Lorelai first but there’s no article yet to be found stating this directly from the Palladinos mouths.
Tumblr media
3. And yes cousin Marilyn and Gran, Lorelai the first, Richard’s mother, are the same actress. (Happy Day’s Mrs Cunningham http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005385/?ref_=nv_sr_1).
Tumblr media
3. Yes the girl in SH high unnamed who asks Lorelai a question and Logan’s LBD friend Juliette are the same actress. Different character. Riki Lindhome played the unnamed student of SH high and Juliette
Tumblr media
5. Yes the first episode looks completely different (not just in the diner) because it was filmed in a different location (Ontario, Canada).
6. Yes, that’s Luke in Seinfeld. (”sponge worthy guy”) and in Will & Grace, jerk guy obsessed with huge boobs, Grace wanted to impress with the water bra. Lauren was also in Seinfield as one of Jerry’s brief girlfriends. That’s also a young Lauren in Caroline in the city.
7. That’s Chris in friends (hums when he pees guy). Yes that's both Luke and Chris on Will & Grace (Luke water bra artist narcissistic guy, Chris cabin in the woods hot guy).
8. Yes that is Logan (and with Usher for that matter lol) in that scene at 7th heaven . And yes Logan. Matt Czuchry was in the good wife, and he has his own show now “The Resident” on Fox. Currently filming a second season (as in October 1st, 2018)
9. Yes Crazy Carrie was also the Stars Hollow High teacher (by a different name) in the pilot. Same actress that plays crazy Carrie but different name of character
Tumblr media
10. No, nobody knows if the show will ever come back (as far as it’s been told everything points to a NO). The Palladinos don’t double book, they are happy doing Mrs Maisel and they devote themselves to one show at the time. The last interview they gave on the subject was to Michael Ausiello in the podcast you can hear in the links. 1. A direct link to the article from November 2017 but is important to listen to the podcast http://tvline.com/2017/11/27/amy-sherman-palladino-podcast-interview-gilmore-girls-mrs-maisel/ 2. This is a link directly to the podcast that opens right up and they say "it would have to be the right time , we don't know but we're open. We said no before and ended up doing more that's why we're open now but it would have to be in a different format", Daniel doesn't repeat the would have to because he already said it right before in the same sentence. Basically is nothing we didn't know. However is a very interesting podcast http://hwcdn.libsyn.com/p/b/8/1/b810a8eea76b5eb5/Amy_and_Dan.mp3?c_id=17932724&expiration=1526427435&hwt=95629606ee9caf86bc57bb8d2d70cf6a. Amy and Dan Palladino show creators and writers and producers, these are the people who made this universe, these are the people who the show belongs to, this is THEIR baby and they made a damn good one.
Tumblr media
11. No, Lauren Graham did not have cancer and write a book about it. (different person, same name).
12. No, Lauren and Scott didn't hate each other's guts they just weren't BFFs. They have both said this endlessly, they have respect for each other. Scott had a crush on Lauren when he begun the show. But from what has been told and learned about Scott, it seems he doesn’t like to get along with the rest of the cast unless is for his personal gain.
13. NO Rory is not a surrogate. They never even discussed the surrogacy Lorelai with Rory neither did Paris with Rory and Gilmore Girls is a light dramedy not a soap opera it doesn’t have sudden hidden scenes that come to change the show completely, other shows, soap operas could do that, Gilmore Girls DOES NOT. She is NOT pregnant of the Wookie. She never slept with Paul (the actor even said it wasn’t Paul’s) Milo said Jess is not the father and doesn’t romantically love Rory anymore. Only Alexis and Matt were told who the father of the baby is. The Palladinos have said clearly that the father of Rory’s baby was never meant to be a mystery. The only person that fits is Logan. The only actors they have told are Alexis and Matt and told them they could do what they wanted with the information but they have chosen not to say anything because is Amy’s story. And the Palladinos have said IT IS THE OBVIOUS CHOICE. So, Logan is the father, is no cliffhanger is open ending. Yes it would be lovely to see more of them but the Palladinos don’t have the style of wrapping up things in a big pink bow.
14. Ace is Logan’s term of endearment for Rory, it shows respect and admiration, it comes from what they used to call top reporters in the 50’s movies, he first calls her that in a IM conversation at the Yale daily news in the episode season 5 episode 6 of Norman Mailer, I’m pregnant!. Not in the poker game, not in the LDB first gathering. Is a term of respect for her abilities investigating the Life and Death Brigade.
Tumblr media
15. The love rocket. Rory understood the meaning because it was the same model, came from an episode of the Twilight zone that was Logan’s favorite. It didn’t need confirmation from Logan because Rory had already said she understood it and she explained it to Lorelai in the same episode: “When Logan and I were first going out, we were in the pool house one night really late, and we were falling asleep on the couch. And this episode of "the twilight zone" came on -- "the long morrow." There's this astronaut who was supposed to go into space for 40 years, but right before he left, he met this beautiful woman. But for those 40 years that he was going to be in space, he was going to be in suspended animation. So when he came back to earth, he was going to be really young, but she would be really old. So he goes into space, and when he does come back, the woman is still young and beautiful because she put herself in suspended animation to wait for him, but he's really, really old because he took himself out of suspended animation so he could be old with her. He spent 40 years alone in space just waiting to see her, and he was willing to come back as an 80-year-old man, giving up almost his entire life just to spend those last few years with her. The point is, that this is Logan's favorite episode of "the twilight zone." And when we watched it together, he said, "that's true love." That's true love! This is the most romantic gift I've ever been given.”.

16. Chris wasn’t at Rory’s high school graduation. He was however at her college graduation. The reason they give is he had to work. Probably the actor who was a guest star was doing another project and couldn’t be in the episode or they just didn’t want to write him in so they could develop more the arc between Lorelai and Luke.
17. June 3rd is the date of Rory’s court date AND the date chosen by Lorelai for hers and Luke’s wedding in the original show. Is the same date different year, coincidence as Lorelai herself says the date happened to happen. There’s a theory that is ASP’s best friend Helen Pai’s birthday. Since it was in an old interview we haven’t found the confirmation of it yet becaue there’s no data (at least on the searches we’ve done so far by various people) on Helen Pai’s date of birth.
18. Lane’s story is loosely based on Helen Pai’s, executive producer of the show and Amy Sherman Palladino’s best friend. HEP ALIEN is an anagram of her name (Pai’s name). Helen Pai’s husband is real life Dave Rygalski which was the character of Dave initially based on until the actor had to leave for a better offer.
19. The real life Dave Rygalski shows up in the troubadour’s “attack” episode, he was with Daniel Palladino who was singing a beaver ate my thumb Dan is singing and Dave is playing the bass. Daniel Palladino is also the town loner, the one who protests at the church and appears briefly in the pilot episode leaving Luke’s. In total Dan Palladino shows up three times in the show
Tumblr media
20. Keiko Agena and Emily Kuroda are Japanese American that’s why when they speak korean in very few moments in the show is very difficult to understand for people who do understand korean. Also Mrs Kim’s real name, at least Korean’s name is Jong Ya. Lane’s is Hyun Kyung, without last names, which come first in Korean Culture so Lane would be Kim Hyun Kyung, Mrs Kim however would not be Kim as last name, that’s a westerner tradition, in Korea women don’t change their last name when they marry and they are referred as Madam, Auntie, or as mother of such (name of youngest child) depending on level of familiarity. There’s never a mention of Mrs Kim’s “westerner” first name.
21. There’s also no idea of what Lane’s father does or where he is during the original show. Amy Sherman Palladino show creator said she never saw the need to create or cast a Mr Kim because it was more to focus in the mother and daughter dinamics. No is not the unnamed Asian waiter at Luke’s. Mr Kim appears in the revival for a brief moment, never before. There’s a fan theory going around that he was never there because he had to constantly be traveling to supply antiques for the store. Lane mentions “my parents”, “my mother and father” in a handful of ocassions through the show. He WAS NOT the unnamed Asian waiter that is always at the background at Luke’s. The Palladinos had never made anyone pass for Mr Kim not even as the back of a head until the revival as a way of fan service and as a joke like saying “oh look, so maybe he had been there the entire time”.
Tumblr media
22. The translation of the korean wedding ceremony is here: https://missallycat.tumblr.com/post/173812878159/i-got-a-sidekick-out-of-you (is a tumblr post) complete with before and after.
23. What does Lane’s grandmother say when she arrives at the house before the wedding? Grandma takes her coat and she sees Lane, she calls out her name Hyun Kyung-a (the a is an added sound they use for familiarity when they call someone's name) and tells her to come down. After Lane comes down she pats her in the cheek and says Lane is "oh so pretty!". Lane replies, "welcome, grandmother, I am very happy you came." The grandmother then says, "it's good to have come / I'm glad I came." She then talks to Mrs Kim (Yong Ja-ya Jong Ya is the name the ya the added familiarity informal sound), asking why is that Budha statue here in the room?. Mrs Kim says I was going to move it, mother (formal). Grandma walks through the house she's saying, "ugh, it's so dirty and stuffy in here - open a door." Then Mrs Kim says something that sounds sort of like, "rest first, please." When the camera cuts to Lane and Rory giving each other 'the look,' Grammy Kim is saying, "hey, why didn't you come out to the airport?" Mrs Kim maybe replies, "you said yesterday... that I shouldn't..." (and the sentence doesn't finish). Grammy Kim then says, "the atmosphere/karma is bad [in here]. It needs to be changed. Let's bow 108 times."
Tumblr media
24. The episode of Jess in California “Here comes the son” WAS the backdoor pilot episode of what was going to be made into a spin off. But it wasn’t deemed interesting enough by the network to justify the expenses of shooting in the actual locations so it didn’t happen.
25. Miss Celine and Drella the harpist are the same actress. Alex Borstein. She was going to be Sookie, she was in the unaired pilot but due to conflicts with her other show she couldn’t be so she came later as other characters. She was also the voice in Dwight’s answering machine (especially my trivial pursuit!) and the woman’s voice in the museum. Jackson was married to her but they are divorced know.
Tumblr media
26. Paris (Liza Weill) initially auditioned for the role of Rory, she didn’t get it but they liked her so much they created Paris for her.
27. Luke was initially going to be a woman but they figured the show needed more testosterone so they casted Scott. This has been the first and only major role Scott Patterson has had in his entire “career” as an actor, the one that led him to get a few more minor roles, rumor has it, he’s very difficult to work with and not talented enought to be worth the pain. He milks Gilmore Girls every chance he gets.
28. Sookie was going to be gay but the network put a stop to that, they didn’t want any openly gay characters in the show. The Palladinos were new at this so they accepted the network’s conditions. Is probably why Michel was always put as bicurious or closeted gay man during the original show and was only fully out in the revival as an obvious thing that needed no explanation or backstory because everyone always assumed Michel was gay.
29. Kirk (Sean Gunn) was initially just an appearance, Mick in the pilot episode, then swan guy, then Kirk new manager at Doose’s new in town who didn’t know Miss Patty or anyone and then became the Kirk Gleason we know and love. Sean Gunn was initially an extra but they loved him so much they created Kirk Gleason as permanent character for him.
Tumblr media
30. Gypsy and Berta, the maid in AYITL are both played by the extremely talented, Rose Abdoo. She was hilarious in a reading when they hadn’t casted anyone yet so she was given the part. Her language is “berta-ese” lol She speaks mostly Spanish, a couple of words could be Brazilian portuguese (maybe?), is mostly nonsensical Spanish words in the kind of Spanish that wouldn’t make a sentence with any meaning or sense and Rose Abdoo said she had changed a few vowels of the words to make it more confusing.G
Tumblr media
31. The unkown town elder (towel guy) is played by William Morgan Sheppard. He was never in the show before or after.
32. None of the elders were the same actors or characters of Richard’s two friends in the golf outing with Rory. But one of those friends was the reverend that buries gran, and in the revival is Charlie of the gazette.
33. Rory’s resident advisor Tess the girl who hands her the keys on her first day of Yale (SE04 EP2 “The Lorelais first day at Yale”) is a different actress than Sandee from Sandee says in AYTIL (a year in the life, netflix GG revival) Tess name is Joy Darash http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1384632/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t17 Sandee is Julia Goldani Telles http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5065920/?ref_=tt_cl_t3 (if you ever saw ASP’s show bunheads that’s Sasha)
34. When they take the roadtrip to Harvard. The picture of the girl Lorelai stares at when she’s in the hallway is a stranger it has to do with the year not the girl herself. That's the year she would have graduated if she went to an Ivy league college as it was planned. It was sort of a “what if” moment.
35. Emily Gilmore didn’t go to Yale she went to Smith to study History. Women weren’t admitted in Yale at the time Richard and Emily went to college but it was usual that girls colleges and guys colleges would have parties together and visited each other when there were couples. First mention of Emily attending Smith was in season 5. How many kropogs to cape cod. Richard jokes how Emily got kicked out of the women’s softball team for elbowing another girl. In season 7 I’m a kayak hear me roar, Emily says she went to Smith and majored in History.
36. They talk about Richard’s mother in the first season in past tense but later on Trix appears. It was an error of the first season when things weren’t that defined.
37. Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia did date in real life, apparently it ended really badly. She also dated Jared Padalecki. She didn’t date Matt Czuchry at least not that is known but both are extremely private people, however they are good friends and trust each other a lot from every interview they have given and enjoy working together. She’s now happily married to her Mad Men costar Vincent Kartheiser and they have a beautiful boy together.
38. Luke’s diner has the sign of William’s hardware store and not Danes’ because as a fandom we assume William was his dad’s first name. You’ll see changes in the diner all through the show. However Luke’s parents names are never mentioned ever during the show. The pilot episode was filmed in Unionville Ontario in a building that was formerly Williams hardware. For continuity when they moved to the studio lot at Warner Brothers the name was kept. I don't remember them ever explaining the name on the series other than the hardware store belonged to Lukes father
Tumblr media
39. Lorelai’s doll house is NOT the same dollhouse on friends but it is the dollhouse they show on sale at Kim’s antiques, in one episode where Lane is going to talk to her mom about the band and Mrs Kim cracks the joke “but is past their bedtime”.
40. Yes Gil from Hep Alien is Sebastian Bach from Skid Row.
41. Yes the “hug-a-world” that was in the garage in season 4 is on their couch in season 1! (Same as the scary clown pillow is in a number of seasons lying around lol)
42. Alexis Bledel is actually a Latina. She was born and raised in the US but grew in a Spanish speaking, latino, household, her father and paternal grandfather are Argentinian, her mother, like herself was born in the US, but Alexis’ mother grew up in Mexico. Alexis didn’t learn English until she started school. The episode where Rory speaks Spanish with Esperanza (Season 6 episode 2: “Fight face”) she anglicized her native Spanish BECAUSE Rory didn’t know much Spanish. There’s an old interview with Ellen Degeneres on set while filming season 6 or 7 that she’s asked to translate for Lauren, she doesn’t translate everything due to nervousness. (It also happens when you live your adult life in a country that doesn’t speak your first language, growing up bilingual, you tend to adopt the accent of the language you use most and tend to confuse some words when you don’t use your native language often).
43. People praised the chemistry and physical closeness between Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, but there is actually a very logical reason for this: Alexis was a model and was just starting out acting and had a tougher time making her marks, so as veteran, Lauren often physically moved Alexis to make sure she was in the right place. Lauren told “The Today Show” in 2015: "The camerawork on that show is very specific and we really had to hit certain marks, which especially when you start out, is just a foreign concept...I remember a lot of times just kind of grabbing her, just kind of leading her arm. So, in the beginning, people are like, 'You have such great chemistry.' And I'm like, 'I'm mauling her. That's why.'"

The Dormant Beast - Jongho (4)
Tumblr media
Read Part 3 HERE
Part: 4 of ?
Idol: Jongho of ATEEZ
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Friends to Lovers
Word Count: 4,028 (I was on a ROLL, baby)
Warnings: Slight prejudice and bullying (non-racial and it’s not body shame either), swearing and shit, Mild name-calling,  MC is a Black Female
A/N: I use certain names in this fic that are meant to be similar to real people. It’s just to add to the whole “post-human race.” For example, if this story takes place AFTER the human race expired, it wouldn’t make sense that someone like Lizzo to exist, right? Also, I wanted to change it up bc it’s fun lol. Anyways, Enjoy!
Jongho stood outside the restaurant, annoyed and tapping his foot rapidly against the pavement.
“Crescent would never be this late.” He huffed, glancing at his watch. How did he wind up in a date with Desire? Glad you asked.
The afternoon of Crescent’s attack on Rory, Jongho walked up to his locker to put his books away for the day. The minute he opened it, a letter slipped out. Opening it, he smiled, noticing Crescent’s loopy handwriting.
Can’t walk home together today.  Decided to skip town for a while. Please, don’t look for me. Don’t stop by the house either. I asked my parents to keep my whereabouts a secret. I’m sorry, Jongie. It’ll only be a few days max. I just need to clear my head on things. Shit’s getting too crazy. I won’t be alone, Clips is coming with.
P.S. à You should go on the date with Desire. It’ll do you some good to be around someone that isn’t me. Plus, I need something funny to look forward to when I get back.
Love,
Crescent
Jongho’s smile dropped, furrowing his eyebrows. What did she mean don’t look for her? Where was she going? Why couldn’t he come?
Against her wishes, Jongho sped to her house. The door swung open before he even got a chance to knock.
“Crescent owes me five bucks.” Lunar said, stepping out onto the porch. “She had faith that you wouldn’t come looking for her at least until tomorrow. I knew better.” He sat on the porch swing.
“Of course I’d come. She’s my-”
“Your best friend, which is code for the love of your life?” Lunar glanced up, amused by Jongho’s frozen expression. “I was your age once too, you know.” He said, patting the porch swing.
“I met Solar in high school. A little late compared to you and Crescent, but that didn’t make the feelings any less real.” He said as Jongho sat down. “And when you look at Crescent, you know what I see? I see the same way I looked at Solar all those years ago. That look of longing, wanting what you couldn’t have.”
“What was wrong that you couldn’t be with Mrs. Moon?”
“…She was already married.”
“What? But you said you were in high school?”
Lunar shrugged. “It was a different time back then. When it came to marriage, it was aura over age. This guy with a super-strong aura, an elephant or something, came to her house one day. Asked for her hand in marriage, he had seen her walking to and from school and wanted her for his wife.”
“And her parents just accepted some random guy who had seen her on the street leaving a high school?” Jongho asked incredulously.
“Yes, but please remember it was a different time. Beliefs were different, and because of it, people got away with a lot of things. Of course, he had to prove he was the aura he said he was, as well as proof he could care for her and other things.”
Jongho nodded. “So, if she was married, how did you end up together?”
Lunar smiled. “We started as friends. We didn’t realize when it became more. One minute it was innocent study dates, and the next we were sneaking around behind the bookcases. Word got out that I was getting too close for comfort, and her husband wasn’t pleased. He challenged me to battle, confident that a hyena had no chance against an elephant. Well, he was right. I was beaten to a pulp. He told Solar to follow him; they were going home.”
“And then?” Jongho asked, fully engrossed in the story.
“She told him no. She didn’t want to go with him. He said she had to; those were the rules, after all. She asked him what would be the point if everyone knew she wasn’t happy. She was clearly not in love with him. She stated that he should fight for someone that cared about him. Which is what I had done. So, though it took some time, they divorced and parted ways. Divorces weren’t as accepted back then, so her family shunned her, closing her out. Embarrassed that she would divorce an elephant for a measly hyena. My parents received backlash for the whole situation as well, so they wanted nothing to do with me. We did odd jobs on the weekends, sometimes living out of motels to make ends meet. To the outside world, it seemed we had nothing. But to us, we had everything. We had each other. We graduated high school, moved here to Strongville. We had a small wedding, only inviting what few friends we had. We got steady jobs, putting ourselves through college. Months after graduation, we had Eclipse. Then came Crescent. The whole point of telling you this, Choi, is that when you want something, no matter how unattainable it may seem, you’ve gotta try. There will be obstacles. There might be consequences. Even times when it seems like you’ll never come out on top. But love will always prevail.”
Jongho sat in silence, absorbing the information. “So, that’s why Crescent never mentions her grandparents. But, Lunar, Mrs. Moon and you were on the same page back then. What do I do if Crescent and I don’t see eye to eye? I’ve tried expressing my feelings before, and she shuts me down before I even get a word out. She’s always giving me excuses for why I can’t like her, whether it’s my parents, or her aura, or the stupid hierarchy. What if she doesn’t like me back?”
Lunar chuckled. “Trust me. You don’t have to worry about that.” He said, remembering the constant teasing from Eclipse. “Crescent’s her father’s daughter. Stubborn and stuck in her ways and opinions. But if anyone can get through to her, it’s you. Don’t give up on her just yet.”
Jongho shook his head. “I wouldn’t give up on her for the world.”
“I knew you’d say that.” Lunar smiled. “So, get outta here. She’ll be okay. She has two auras, and that’s two more than she’s had all her life. Let her sort things out. She’ll be back. She can’t go too long without ‘Jongie’.” He said, repeating the nickname in a mocking tone.
“Oh, and Jongho,” Lunar called out before heading inside.
“Yeah?” Jongho responded from the walkway.
“Have fun on your date.” Lunar winked, closing the door swiftly.
Just when Jongho registered what Lunar had said, his phone rang. The contact was listed as “Don’t Answer.”
“Hello?”
“Jongho! Honey, is everything alright? I got a frantic call from Crescent. She didn’t say much but told me to call you. Did you have to talk to me?”
Jongho sighed. Of course Crescent would call Desire, knowing he wouldn’t do it himself.
“Yeah, actually. Are you doing anything Friday?”

Now here he was, dressed uncomfortably in a dress shirt and pants with his ash-colored hair gelled back, standing outside a restaurant where the prices were bigger than the portions, waiting for Desire, who was 20 minutes late.
Just when Jongho had lost all hope, Rory’s Lamborghini Veneno pull up to the curb. Desire’s Giuseppe heels clicked onto the pavement, her emerald green dress contrasting with her fire-red hair. Her smile didn’t match up with Jongho’s grimace.
“Have fun, you two!” Rory called out, raising his eyebrows in amusement at Jongho’s expression before speeding down the avenue.
“I told you to be here at 4:30 because the reservation was for 6:00. It’s 6:45.” He deadpanned.
“I’m so sorry, sweetie! I was going to make it on time, I swear but, then I couldn’t decide between the red clutch or the black clutch. The red goes with my hair, but the black goes with my shoes. So, I brought both!” She said. She squeezed Jongho’s hand when he didn’t react. “C’mon, I’m here now! Let’s go in.”
They entered and were immediately recognized and seated despite the reservation having passed. The waiter sped to their table.
“Good evening, may I start you both off with some drinks?” He asked, flipping open his notepad. “Our special of the night is the Moet & Chandon Nectar Rose, which has been chilled on ice.”
“Ooou, that sounds good, let’s have that!” Desire said, opening the food menu.
The waiter nodded, turning to Jongho. “And for you, sir? The same?”
Jongho gave the man a baffled look. “You realize we’re like 16, right?”
“Oh, Jongho honey, age restrictions don’t apply to us! We’re the future Duke and Duchess!” Desire laughed, shaking her head. “If it’s your first time drinking, I’d suggest not ordering tequila. I made that mistake last year and between you and me, I can’t remember much about that night.” She shrugged.
“So, just because we’re a little stronger than others, rules and law don’t apply to us? Then what’s the point?” Jongho sighed. “Sprite, please.”
“Are you sure, Sir? If not the Moet, we have other options that might better satisfy your palette. A Chateau, perhaps? Maybe even our prized possession, the Dom Perignon? I can guarantee our batch is the most aged, dating back to human times.” The waiter pressed, surprised at the fact that Jongho wasn’t jumping at the opportunity to drink the way Desire was.
Jongho gave him a tight smile. “Sprite.”
“Very well, then. I’ll be back with your drinks and will take your course orders when I return.”
“I can give you some of my glass to try if you’d like? That way you don’t have to order something you’re not sure you’ll like?” Desire offered.
“No thanks, I’ll wait till 21 like everyone else.” Jongho said, opening the menu. “What are you having?”
“A garden salad.”
Jongho looked up at her. “Is that it?”
“Oh, you’re right. It’s my cheat day. I’ll order some shrimp on the side.”
“Cheat day? You work out?”
“Oh no, I’m on a diet because I bought this dress and they didn’t have it in my size so I’m gonna lose weight to wear it.”
Jongho furrowed his eyebrows. “Aren’t you already pretty slim? How much smaller can the dress be? Why couldn’t you just get the dress in your size from the portal?”
“Ugh, no! Only lower auras use the portal. High auras like us should use storefronts. Plus, I’m a 4 and the dress is a 2, so it should fit pretty soon.”
In midst of the technological advances that caused auras to become a thing, the internet evolved into the Portal. The Portal allowed for a more intimate internet experience. For instance, one who may be shopping for clothes or shoes could choose to have their order shipped to their home or a storefront like in human times, or they could choose the Portal, which opens up a large egress on location. This allowed the person to then reach in and grab their item from inside the threshold. It was popular amongst the lower auras who were intimidated from the possibility of running into higher auras and to avoid higher auras from snatching things right out of their carts, which was a common occurrence. Being friends with Crescent, Jongho knew the ins and outs of the Portal and even frequented it himself.
“There’s nothing wrong with the Portal. You can shop right from home, in your pajamas or the middle of the street and get your things right then and there.”
“Exactly, but higher auras are to be seen. Not hidden away at home.” Desire said, as the waiter came back.
“Still better than starving yourself into oblivion,” Jongho said, shrugging. “Are we ready to order?” he asked her.
“Yes! I’ll have a garden salad, hold the dressing, croutons and cheese. And an order of steamed shrimp, hold the cocktail sauce.”
The waiter nodded, turning to Jongho.
“I’ll have the top sirloin steak with roasted potatoes.”
“Will that be medium-rare?” The waiter asked, writing everything down.
“Uh no, well done, please.”
Desire scrunched up her face. “Well done? You’re killing the animal all over again, Jongho.”
“Well…it’s gonna be on my plate so, I hope it’s dead.”
“Where’s the flavor in that, Jongho?”
“The seasoning? Anyways, sirloin, well done, end of discussion. We were already late so I’m pretty hungry. Can we move this along?”
“Yes, right away, sir! Your orders will be expedited.” The waiter said, rushing off to the kitchen.
“Did you learn to eat well-done steak with Crescent? Even your parents don’t eat it like that.” Desire asked.
“How’s that store you opened last year doing, Desire? Is it seeing profit?”
“You’re changing the subject. You don’t wanna talk about her?”
“I finally took you out on a date, which is what you’ve wanted me to do for the past three years, so I’m confused as to why you would,” Jongho said, twirling his salad fork coolly. “So, about that store…”
Desire sighed, sitting up in her seat. “It’s going well, a lot of sales in-store and online, we received a purchase from Teyoncé. You know, the singer with the eagle aura?”
Jongho nodded, impressed. “I’m sure you’ll have members of the Teapot flooding in from all over to buy your products now. They idolize her so much, they follow every trend she portrays.”
“I’m excited. If we continue selling at this rate, we can open up another storefront.”
“Do you offer Portal?” Jongho asked as their food was placed in front of them. He thanked the waiter, cutting into his steak.
“Why would I do that?” Desire asked, annoyed that they were once again discussing Portal.
“Well, you’re targeting the Teapot. You know how many fans Teyoncé has? She comes from a long line of performers, starting from her great-great-great-grandmother. She has fans everywhere, from Strongville to Freehold to Cherrynight Valley. Surely, you can’t expect everyone to come to one store in the middle of Strongville?”
“Anybody who’s somebody will make it. Those who can’t will miss out.” Desire said.
“And the one missing out on money will be you. Exclusivity is for companies with seniority, like the brand on your feet. People are gonna see what it takes to even buy from your store and give up when you can easily offer Portal and have your brand all over the world. Or is Portal beneath you?”
“I just don’t think someone of my caliber should have to settle or beg for sales by lowering my standards.” She retaliated.
“What if Crescent was a fan? She can’t just walk into your store, especially with the way you’ve treated her and her reputation amongst your friends, also your fault by the way. Someone like her would need Portal. Imagine what would happen if word were to get out that you don’t even accommodate for people right here in your town? That’s the thing, though. When you become an entrepreneur, you have to be money hungry. Imagine all the sales you could be making this very minute if you activated Portal.”
The conversation died down, the pair eating in silence. Jongho set his utensils down, finishing his plate rather quickly. He sighed. He’d definitely need to stop at Patty Queen on his way home. The portion was nowhere near enough; he would need at least a burger to be full.
“What do you see in her?” Desire asked suddenly.
“Huh?” Jongho asked. He had heard her but wanted to buy himself some time before having to answer.
“Do you know how much I’ve done to catch your attention? I wear the best outfits, watch my figure, always have my hair done. I’ve wanted to dye my hair so many times, you know why I never did? When we were younger, and I was getting picked on for how bright red my hair is, you defended me. Told me that it suited me, and that I didn’t have to change it. So now, even when I want to change it, I don’t. Because you liked it the way it is.”
“That’s the problem, Desire. You’re always doing things to impress me. Impress others. Haven’t you ever thought I’d like you much more if you were just yourself? That’s what I like about Crescent, to answer your question. Someone living without an aura for that long, especially being scrutinized by the likes of you, would’ve broken down at some point. Not Crescent. She stood her ground, even when she knew you could crush her. She’s seen as weird for liking things like true crime and poetry, but that doesn’t stop her from watching documentaries or geeking over underground poets. She’s unapologetically herself, always. Doesn’t mean she’s perfect, but she’s real.”
Desire laughed humorlessly. “She’s got you wrapped around her little finger. Pathetic.”
“Now I’m pathetic?”
“YES. You’re pathetic! You could have this entire town eating out of the palm of your hand. You could be getting bottle service, Ferragamo shoes, thousand-dollar threads, the best of the best! But you walk around in Converse and Levi’s just like that inferiority! You’re sitting here drinking a Sprite when you were offered Dom Perignon. You’re eating burnt meat and running the school passively when you can easily be treated like a King with me by your side. But instead, you treat everyone kindly like they were your equal.  All because of that chick. What’s she got that I don’t? It’s certainly not money or strength. I’m tired of being overlooked by her. I’m so sick of it. Grow up, Jongho.”
Jongho stared her in the eye, silent at first. Then, what started as a chuckle turned into a full-on cackle.
“What’s so funny?” Desire asked.
“You know, it’s so fitting that you’re a wolf aura.  I don’t think I’ve ever met a bigger bitch.” He said, taking out $200 from his wallet and throwing it onto the table. “Tell the waiter he can keep the change. I’ll see my pathetic ass out.” He said, getting up.
“Oh, before I go.” He turned back around. “I already wasn’t interested in you romantically, but after today, you can forget about this whole Duke and Duchess narrative. I wouldn’t marry you even if there was a gun to my head. And all that whining you just did? The one that has growing up to do is you.” He said, walking out of the restaurant to his car.
“Crescent, Crescent, Crescent.” He sighed, unlocking his car door. “You owe me big time.”

Meanwhile, Crescent panted, leaning against a tree. She’d been training with Eclipse all day long, same as she’d been doing since Wednesday.
“Come on, Crescent. Again.” Eclipse said, sweat dripping down her neck and into her sports bra.
“I told you, Clips. I can’t activate the tiger aura on command.”
“And I told you, AGAIN. In order to activate your aura, you must become one with the animal. You have to feel it. You can’t just clap or jump and become a tiger or a seal. It has to stimulate your senses.”
Crescent sighed, momentarily regretting bringing Eclipse along. The older girl had done nothing but boss her around day in and day out, attempting to train the younger girl aurally.
Crescent closed her eyes, envisioning a seal in the middle of the ocean. She felt a rush of warmth against the frigid breeze.
Lunar and Solar owned a log cabin on the outskirts of town, at the beginning of the woods. It was far away enough that Jongho couldn’t sniff them out, but close enough to rush back home in case of an emergency.
Crescent opened her eyes, the usual dark brown replaced by a dark abyss, similar to that of a seal.
“Good,” Eclipse said. “Now, the tiger.”
Crescent took a deep breath, envisioning a tiger in a vast grassland. But, just like all the times before, the tiger was laying down in the grass, fast asleep. Nothing Crescent did woke it up.
She shouted in frustration. She envisioned it perfectly. What was she doing wrong?
“Okay, let’s take a break. Maybe it’s having an off day. Could it be the climate?” Eclipse asked, taking a seat next to Crescent. “But, tigers and cheetahs are kind of similar, and I can activate my aura out here just fine. But it’s okay. We’ll figure it out. Together.” Eclipse pulled Crescent in for a hug.
Just then, Eclipse’s phone rang. Crescent rolled her eyes. Her phone had been going off nearly every hour since they had reached the cabin.
“Can you stop answering your booty calls? Just for ONE night?” Crescent sighed.
Eclipse smirked. “Why? Am I making you miss Jongho? Maybe he can come over after that date you forced him to go on. I heard from Rory he took her out after all. Still don’t know why you made him take another girl out.” She said, typing something into her phone.
Crescent huffed, looking away at the mention of Jongho. The truth is, she wanted to be sure Desire didn’t stand a chance. She felt that Jongho never gave much thought to the idea of him and Desire because Crescent was always around. So, she decided that isolating herself and putting them both in a situation without her would be the only way to know for sure where Jongho stood. It was a weird, convoluted plan, but Crescent wanted to be positive her feelings wouldn’t be met with heartbreak. If she returned and they were together and in love, she’d keep her feelings to herself and move on. If not, she’d confess once and for all.
“Okay…don't be mad.” Eclipse said, pulling Crescent out of her thoughts.
“No. You’re NOT leaving me here alone again tonight.” Crescent glared at her sister.
“It won’t be the whole night! Jared is a jackrabbit aura, I’ll be back in like an hour tops! And that’s if I stroll!”
“Eclipse, gross! And still, no!” Ever since Eclipse turned 18, Crescent was plagued with hearing about her sexual endeavors with nearly half the graduating class. And, being the blunt person she was, Eclipse held nothing back. There are people Crescent couldn’t even look in the eye anymore after hearing her sister’s stories.
There was an awkward silence between the two, until Crescent saw the amber glint in Eclipse’s eyes.
“Eclipse, I swear to everything I love-”
Crescent couldn’t even finish her sentence before a gust of wind ran through Crescent’s curly, auburn locks.
“ECLIPSE!” Crescent shouted, smacking her hand against the bench in frustration.
And that’s when she felt it. The tiger suddenly jumped up in her envisioning, running rampant. Crescent took off too, her eyes turning a bright amber. But something was different this time. A cheetah appeared next to the tiger. The two cats ran in unison, their astral projections blooming from Crescent’s chest like sun rays. She had the speed she needed to reach Eclipse, and that she did.
Once she was close enough, she pounced at the older girl, the strength of her tiger aura allowing her to overpower the cheetah aura of her sister.
“Why. Do. You. Keep. Leaving.” Crescent gritted through her teeth.
“Crescent. Your aura activated!” Eclipse exclaimed, completely disregarding her sister’s death mission. “But, how did you catch up to me? Tigers are fast but no way are they fast enough to reach cheetahs.”
Crescent sighed, falling back onto the dirt. “Because I’m using both.”
“Woah, wait, what?” Eclipse asked, puzzled.
“The tiger is awake, and the cheetah is right next to it. They ran together, and that’s how I was able to catch you.” Crescent said, describing the envisioning.
“Crescent, did you just hear yourself? Not only do you have THREE auras, TWO of them work TOGETHER. I’ve heard of multiple aura holders, but never have I ever seen anything like what you just did. Double aura? Dual aura?” Eclipse shook her head. Her phone rang again. She fished it out of her pocket, silencing it.
“So, if not even you know what’s going on with me, what happens next?”
“That’s the scariest part, Cres. For the first time in my life, I don’t know what to tell you.”
Stephie here! Don’t wanna make this longer than it already is, but just checking in. Jongho finally told Desire off, is anyone relieved? Anyways, please look forward to the next chapter. Happy Reading!

Fic: Doors Open ch. 1
A while ago my lovely friend Gabby asked me to expand on the Unconventional universe and nearly two years later, here we are. This is part one of eleven (maybe, we’ll see). Anyone unfamiliar with the series might want to check out the original fic here, bc this might not make a ton of sense (or don’t, you do you).

Nothing particularly exciting happening during the first year Elsie was on the Waverider.
She got acclimated to the timeship (both Sara and Leonard thought she made the switch to the future remarkably well) and to her new family. She was truly loved on the Waverider, even managing to grow on Rip — he had initially been unsure about Sara and Leonard’s decision to adopt the little girl from the 1930s, however, as he watched Elsie’s relationships with her parents grow (and when he saw that her removal from the thirties didn’t destroy the timeship) he couldn’t ignore the benefit she was bringing to the team. They all enjoyed having Elsie on the Waverider. She added an element of fun to the dynamic amongst the team.
She played dress-up with Kendra and Ray, Jax was teaching her how to play football just like he promised, even Mick had a soft spot for her. Early on in their time on the Waverider, Mick had proven to have quite a knack for cooking, and since Elsie’s arrival, the two had taken to making meals for the team together. She would sit on the metal counter and watch him chop vegetables, and he would always let her stir ingredients together with a big wooden spoon — he even let Elsie stir things on the stove, even though Sara always told her no.
During a brief shore-leave a few months after Elsie moved onto the Waverider, the team returned to the present time and Sara and Leonard introduced their daughter to their families. They legally adopted her on that visit as well, and she officially became Elsie Lance.
“Lance?” Lisa had repeated when they told her.
“The Snart name dies with me,” Leonard had replied, answering her confusion.
“Unless I keep my name when I get married,” Lisa then pointed out.
“That’s not funny,” Leonard had replied seriously.
Elsie’s fourth birthday came and went. They celebrated it on the Waverider with a big game of hide-and-seek that even Rip joined in on, and a trip to Pompeii to watch Mount Vesuvius erupt.
Not too long after, Kendra said goodbye to the team and they welcomed two new members: Nate and Amaya. Rip was relieved to see that Elsie had not become a distraction for the team, but a motivator. Sara had become less reckless on the field, but had lost none of her will or tenacity. Leonard had grown increasingly protective of his team, even the new members. They all seemed to work better together.
Even though Elsie attended all the team meetings and sometimes journeyed into the times they traveled to, she had never joined the team on a mission. That is, she hadn’t joined the team on a mission yet.
“Time to get dressed,” Sara said to Elsie as she walked into her bedroom, “Did you pick out clothes for today?”
“Uh-huh,” Elsie nodded, holding out a bundle of clothing.
“Pink jeans and a pink dress,” Sara commented with raised eyebrows, “Wow. Really?”
“Yup.”
“Okay,” Sara let out a sigh as she shrugged, crouching down to help her get dressed.
“Miss Lance,” Gideon said as Sara helped Elsie pull off her princess nightdress, “Rip would like you to know that he has called a team meeting.”
“Okay,” Sara nodded, “Thanks Gideon.”
“Of course,” Gideon replied. Then she was silent.
“I wanna play with Kendra,” Elsie said.
“We’ve been over this,” Sara said, pulling the cotton dress over Elsie’s head and beginning to help her arms through the sleeves, “Kendra went back to the real world. Then Amaya and Nate came, remember?”
Elsie shook her head
“Yes you do,” she replied, “You played restaurant with them yesterday.”
“Oh,” she replied, gripping her mother’s shoulders as she stepped into the pants Sara was holding out in front of her.
“Ready?” Sara asked, once the pink jeans were pulled up and buttoned.
“You gotta do my hair,” Elsie said.
“I’m gonna do it on the Bridge during the meeting,” she told her, picking up a brush and several hair ties from the surface of Elsie’s dresser, “Let’s go.”
Elsie bounded out the door and down the corridors of the Waverider, Sara following at a much more comfortable pace.
The rest of the team was already at the meeting when Sara arrived; even Elsie beat her to the bridge, waiting for her in a metal chair.
“Miss Lance,” Rip said, “Thank you for finally joining us. Let’s begin.”
Sara crossed the room and sat in her chair next to Leonard. Elsie stood in front of her, leaning against her legs as Sara started to run the brush through her blonde hair.
“Here’s the plan,” Rip said, “Our latest adversary is taking refuge in the year 2025.”
“Hey, that’s close to our time!” Ray said.
“Yes, Mr. Palmer, it is indeed,” Ray nodded, “In 2025, he doesn’t pose any threat to society, but he is in something like a planning mode. He knows what he’s doing, now he’s just getting ready.”
“So what are we trying to do, exactly?” Jax asked.
“Figure out his plan so we can head him off at the proper moment."
“Awesome!” Nate said, “We’re gonna snuff him out before he burns!”
“Did someone say burn?” Mick asked, seeming to tune into the meeting just then, “I’m in.”
“I appreciate the enthusiasm, Mr. Rory,” Rip said, “but we’re going to be doing this mission a little differently. Think early days, Raymond and Kendra buying a house in the fifties. Some of you will be scattered throughout the city. The rest will be posing as the occasional tourist when necessary, and parsing through the information we collect on the Waverider.”
“What happened to diving in and hoping for the best?” Amaya asked.
“Our success rate with that tactic dropped to a level so low it warranted a change in plan. We’re trying something a bit more strategic this time.”
Amaya nodded.
“So,” he continued, “Our new mission will be taking us to València, a coastal city in the south of Spain.
“We’re going to Spain?” Ray exclaimed, “Cool!”
“Yes, Mr. Palmer,” he said, “Our target is Sebastián Reyes. In 2025, he is thirty two years old, and within the following decade, he will become one of the world’s most dangerous people, joining the ranks with Ivan the Terrible, Robespierre, and Osama bin Laden.”
“What exactly is he doing?” Nate asked.
“What any man of his kind does: tries to eradicate what’s unlike him. For him, it is people under a certain tax bracket. It’s his opinion that a lack of money is the result of a lack of intelligence and poor decision-making. There are, of course, other factors involved, but his goal is to eliminate those who earn under a certain amount, take the money they leave behind into the government of Spain and therefore solve the debt crisis and leave more money for the remaining citizens, including, of course, himself.”
“Why are we only hearing about him now?” Sara asked as she wrapped a hair band around one of Elsie’s braids, “If he’s really this bad, why haven’t you ever mentioned him before?”
“Because, until recently, he didn’t exist — that is to say, he wasn’t the person he is now. Something we did in the last month or so changed his story and inspired some terrible actions from Mr. Reyes. We are going to València to fix it.”
“Who are you placing there more permanently?” Nate asked.
“I’m sending Jax and Martin straight onto the campus of the University of València. Martin will be taking up the position of professor of physics and Jax will be a graduate student in the biotechnology department.
“Do they have a good football team?” Jax asked.
“If by football, you mean the game with a black-and-white ball you can’t touch with your hands, then yes, I believe they do,” Rip answered, “To continue, I’m placing Mr. Palmer in the same apartment complex as our target in the hopes that you can get close to him and we can find out more about his day-to-day life.”
“Cool!” Ray said, “I’ve always wanted to be friends with a sociopath!”
He didn’t seem to notice the bemused faces the rest of his team shot him.
“The last group I’m sending in on a slightly more permanent basis will include Sara, Leonard, and of course, Elsie. You three will be placed in a suburban neighborhood a little outside the city. You’ll be posing as a family who moved to the area for work. I have a spot for Elsie in a preschool and jobs lined up for both of you — and I request that you both actually attend them please.”
“Hey!” Sara protested as Leonard said, “That’s fair.”
“The rest of us — Mick, Nate, Amaya, and myself — will be staying on the Waverider to parse through and organize all the information you collect.”
“When do we leave?” Jax asked.
“Tomorrow,” Rip replied, “I suggest those who will leave us start packing.”
“Where are we going?” Elsie asked her mother later that evening.
“We’re going on a vacation,” Sara answered.
“What’s a vacation?”
“What?” she asked absently, “Oh, right.”
Sara often forgot that Elsie had come from the 1930s. She made the jump to the futuristic setting of the Waverider very well, but part of that was because she was going from one extreme to another; her new home held no resemblance to her old one. It existed in a kind of bubble, separate from any particular moment in time, so Elsie still had some gaps.
“A vacation is when you go somewhere else besides where you live, just for fun. Some people go to relax and some go for sightseeing,” she explained.
“Where are we going?” Elsie asked.
“Spain,” Sara replied, “for a mission. Daddy and I will be working, so I guess it’s less of a vacation than actually moving there…for a little while. Daddy and I are gonna go to work and you’re gonna go to school.”
“School?” Elsie repeated.
“Yeah, like how Sofia goes to princess school in that show you watch. You’re gonna go to school and have a teacher and learn new stuff everyday with kids your age.”
“Cool!”
Sara was feeling cautiously optimistic about the mission, although she would be lying if she said she didn’t feel a twinge of worry about the sudden change in tactic. Rip wasn’t wrong in his comment about their previous few missions not going particularly well, but they always accomplished what they needed to. They had a routine: screwing things up before they made things better. Maybe it wasn’t particularly efficient, but it managed to be effective. Changes in their routine might not go over well, and this was the source of Sara’s anxiety.
Her main concern was Elsie, who had only ever left the Waverider for more than a few days at a time. This was her home, the only one she had known since war-torn Norway. Perhaps choosing this mission, one that would completely uproot her daily life, as her first mission wasn’t the best idea. However, Elsie didn’t seem too fazed by the prospect of moving to Spain for an indefinite amount of time, so Sara chose not to worry — or, rather, pretended not to worry.
Rip had told Sara and Leonard that, to spare them the inconvenience of furnishing an entire house, Gideon had generated everything they would need, down to the silverware and toys. All they had to worry about was clothes and any personal items that would be missed during their time away from the Waverider. Both Sara and Leonard had packed everything they needed into two boxes and while the latter began dinner (the chore wheel had landed on him that day, much to Leonard’s disgruntlement, as he thought he’d get to evade the job entirely for at least several months), Sara began going through Elsie’s clothes, tossing the ones more apt for warm weather into a cardboard box with Elsie’s name printed on it.
She hit a roadblock when she told Elsie to pick just a couple toys to bring with them to Spain.
“But who’s gonna play with them while I’m gone?” Elsie whined.
“Maybe Nate will,” Sara said, trying to hide her frustration, “You can’t take them all. Rip said there’s toys for you at the new house so, like I’ve said seven times, pick three and put them in your backpack. I’ll be back in five minutes.”
She turned away and headed for the door so she wouldn’t have to see Elsie’s pout (she made a mental note to make sure Leonard stayed away from her room for a while — if Sara thought she might cave, he certainly would).
Eventually Elsie picked her three toys — a stuffed elephant, a Rapunzel dress-up dress, and a set of markers that Sara traded out for a deck of rainbow playing cards when she wasn’t looking because she knew Elsie would miss them more (and they would be impossible to find in València because Gideon made them herself). The team ate dinner together in the mess hall (the last team dinner for a while, Ray realized sadly) and then Sara and Leonard let Elsie have dessert — blue popcorn, another one of Elsie’s farfetched requests neither Sara nor Leonard knew how Gideon accomplished — in their bed while they watched a movie.
“What happened to not letting her sleep in our bed anymore?” Leonard asked quietly, gesturing to Elsie who had fallen asleep about an hour into Bridge to Terabithia, curled up in Sara’s arms.
Sara locked down at her daughter.
“Yeah, wishful thinking, I guess,” she replied. She looked to him, furrowing her eyebrows when she saw an expression on his face that usually signified he was having some kind of internal debate, “What?”
He let out a sigh, “I just was wondering if this is a good idea. We never involved her in a mission before, never mind a new type of mission. We don’t know how this is going to pan out.”
“I know,” Sara nodded seriously, “I’ve thought about that too.”
When they decided Elsie should stay with them on the Waverider, they hadn’t been ignorant to the knowledge that having a toddler onboard the timeship during a mission to safeguard all of time would not be easy. Leonard and Sara had quickly agreed they wouldn’t bring Elsie on missions, not even simple reconnaissance trips — they had seen those go sideways — but that still left the concern of what to do with her when they had to be out on the field. More often than not, at least one person from the team wouldn’t need to go on the mission — usually Rip, as of late — and that person would watch her. Occasionally, however, a mission would require the efforts of the entire team. In that case, Gideon had assured Sara and Leonard she could make sure Elsie stayed safe.
Although those types of missions were few and far between, and nothing bad had ever happened during any of them (in fact, the Waverider hadn’t been attacked in a while — not since long before Elsie came onboard), Sara and Leonard still hated the idea of leaving their daughter alone on the Waverider.
“And I know we said we wouldn’t take Else on missions,” Sara continued, “but this is gonna be different. It won’t be like our normal missions where we, you know, kick ass and then get the hell out. It’s gonna be longer, more strategic.”
Leonard nodded his agreement.
“And,” Sara continued, “I actually trust Rip with this stuff. He’s a dad too. He wouldn’t do anything to put her in danger.”
“I know you’re right, but you know me, I get stuck in the hypotheticals. If something happens to her…” he trailed off.
“I know,” she nodded, “We’re just gonna have to be careful. If something bad does happens, we bring her back to the Waverider — and hey, bonus points: we get to hold it against Rip for the rest of his life.”
Sara saw Leonard smirk slightly.
“I should get Else to her bed,” she said, carefully shifting Elsie in her arms and getting to her feet, “Long day tomorrow; we’re moving to Spain.”

I think most of their arguments are baseless and rooted more in hating that Jess is praised by fans for getting Rory out of her depression over Yale than it is about genuinely being upset over Rory being yelled at, tbh. If they hated Rory being yelled at in this episode, how come I never see them calling out L*gan for immediately taking to being all defensive over one small remark that Rory didn't even link to him (about her partying and drinking) after she came back to the bar?
I think that yes, Jess could have handled that outburst better, and overall I do wish they had a better parting moment there, but that outburst likely would've never happened if L*gan hadn’t intervened with them meeting up in the first place. Jess was completely calm and happy when he and Rory met up to go somewhere, but the minute L*gan stepped in and then proceeded to harass Jess with dumb questions that were obviously meant to throw him off or make him feel inferior to him, Jess became annoyed and frustrated over it. I don't think he ever even planned on coming to meet Rory for the sole purpose of "setting her straight", he didn't even know why she was living at her grandparents' house, but he could obviously tell something was wrong because she wasn't living with Lorelai.
And honestly I feel like a lot of them take the "I know you better than anyone" remark way too literally and seriously. It's not some form of manipulation or Jess "guilt-tripping" Rory, and just because he doesn't know what exactly happened that could cause Rory to leave Yale doesn't mean that he doesn't know that she's never wanted or loved the life her grandparents lead, like being in the DAR or living in their house. Rory herself tells him that it's all temporary, and when she even talks about the dress she had hung up for the DAR there was no form of enthusiasm from her whatsoever over it. Him saying "I know you better than anyone" isn't him trying to manipulate her or belittle her, Jess has no reason to do either considering how he practically leaves once he says all of that. The way that I interpret that line is him being frustrated over what her life has apparently turned into and is basically saying "I know you never wanted this for yourself and you're obviously not wanting this life now." He's not explicitly staying he "knows" her better than Lorelai or herself, even when I'd argue that Jess knows Rory's flaws better than Lorelai, since her mother has a certain issue whenever Rory doesn't exactly do something that she wants her to do.
But anyway, a lot of them also don't seem to understand the fact that it's not just Jess's speech that pushes Rory to finally get out of her depressive state over Yale and her future career apparently not being an option anymore. Jess's entire role in that episode is specifically meant to show Rory that he did something with his life, even when the odds were stacked against him so much more than against her. Rory was expected to graduate from Yale, have a successful job and even marry rich, Jess was expected to not amount to anything, by his mother and by the high school principal. And yet despite this, he still did something for himself, and having Rory witness it, and compare it to her own life, makes her want to do something for herself as well. It's not about Jess "pretending he knows Rory better than anyone", it's about Rory being right about Jess being capable of doing more and him achieving that, but in the meanwhile, Rory has lost her footing, and even while she proclaimed that it was all temporary for her to stay with her grandparents, it was obvious that she really did think she could never continue with her studies because she would never truly be a journalist, so she really didn't know or see some other option for herself. I don't think she would've continued living with her grandparents that much longer, but I also don't think she would've continued with her own studies and her goal of journalism if Jess hadn't shown up in that episode.
And look, I know L*gan fans are tired of people proclaiming that with Jess, Rory made better decisions in comparison when she was with L*gan, but while I'm not interested in the slightest in blaming L*gan for Rory's mistakes or choices in her own life, since after all she is her own person and by then she was also an adult who was capable of making them, it doesn't erase the fact that the narrative ties these specific mistakes and choices with the time that she was with L*gan. Rory never steals a yacht with Jess or drops out of Yale because of his father's flippant remarks towards her about her never being able to become a journalist. Yes, she does skip school to see Jess in New York, but how the hell am I even supposed to compare Rory skipping school for one day to her stealing a yacht and having it on her record while also having to do community service? Rory can be impulsive and jealous and she is capable of making decisions based off of that on her own, but the fact remains that the only time she ever sunk so low in her own life as to commit a crime was when she was with L*gan, so it's really not hard to tie these negative decisions she made with the time that she dated him. It's also impossible to just say that L*gan is completely innocent in this too because he assisted her in stealing the yacht, he didn't make her do it and he certainly didn't convince her to, but he did help her. That puts him in the category of not being just an innocent bystander in this, and I don't fault him for Rory having it on her record or having to do community service, just as I don't fault him for Mitchum being an asshole, but I do fault him for not being more considerate about Rory's state when she tells him to "go out to sea". Rory was so obviously besides herself when he met up with her at the docks, she seemed sad and even somewhat desperate, but instead of L*gan even suggesting something like "ok why don't we instead drive somewhere" or even taking her to any other place besides the docks, he agrees to committing a crime with her. And as hard as it seems to be for anyone that loves their relationship to also consider this, I don't think it's a coincidence that the narrative ties many of Rory's less better moments with the time she was with L*gan. Again, I'm not saying L*gan is solely to blame for her decisions, but even taking into consideration the revival, it's just obvious that the narrative wants to make it clear that in the long run, L*gan isn't really good for Rory, and the relationship, even while it lasted for a long while, wasn't meant to be.
Anyway, I'm pretty tired of some fans taking other fans's arguments and twisting them into a complete 180 and coming up with these kinds of explanations against Jess as if he's somehow some fiendish mastermind out to control Rory and her life in every waking moment of the day. I do think that people do place more emphasis on her boyfriends than they do on Rory, but I also can't say this is without a reason, since the narrative ties so many of Rory's big decisions to men like Dean or L*gan or even Jess. The biggest difference is that her decisions made that come after meeting up with Jess in season 6 and AYITL seem actually positive and good for her, and I don't give Jess credit for this, but it's hard to ignore the specific meaning of the narrative when it gives us moments like this. The only issue that is clear is that people just don't know how to discuss these things better, and it always comes down to arguments over whichever boyfriend was better. Even L*gan fans that pride themselves for genuinely being "fans" of Rory and caring about her aren't the exception from this. If they were, I don't think they'd be spending this much time arguing against Jess as a character or people who love him to the point where I've seen more arguments be placed against him by L*gan fans than I've seen discussions about L*gan as a character.

did i use two btr bois as his vc??? u bet ur ass i did & i have no regrets ok anyway on to my son
background:
rory pearson was born and raised in fairhope, alabama.  his parents were teenagers when they had him and lived with his grandma scarlett.  his mom jean marie was ousted by her parents when she told them she was pregnant and his dad’s mom took her in with open arms.
of course his grandma wasn’t going to let them live in the same room in her house without being married, especially with her grandbaby on the way.  so after talking with them, and his parents agreeing, they went to the courthouse and got married three months before rory came into the world.
rory was born on april 20th, 1996 and he was without a name for six days.  his parents couldn’t decide so they named him rory wyatt vincent pearson.  he was always told that since his parents couldn’t decide on naming him after jean marie’s grandfather or greyson’s father, they picked a third name and gave him both of their names for middle names.
when rory was two and a half years old ( not really half, it was june ?? ) his parents graduated high school and went out for a party.  unfortunately their designated driver wasn’t so sober and the group of four recent graduates crashed into another car.
his father was in the passenger’s seat and died on impact, his mother was pronounced dead in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
scarlett legally adopted rory after that and raised him.  she always told him stories of his parents, but avoided telling him anything about what happened to them for as long as she could.
he was ten years old when he saw the memorial and recognized his parents from their yearbook photos and came home asking about it.
honestly this is jumping ahead a bit but rory didn’t learn to drive until he was twenty years old.  and even now, esp now, since he lives in nyc he doesn’t drive often.
okay when he was seventeen years old he met bethany in an airport.  he was on his way to a college interview on a connecting flight that got cancelled due to weather conditions.  they were both sitting in the same terminal so they got to talking and !!! hit it off
bro legit asked her out 5 seconds after their flights were announced to be back on
“hi yeah we just met but we’ve got two hours before your flight leaves so wanna go grab some food with me???”
and the rest was legit history
he can remember every moment of their conversation and first date like it was yesterday. oh my god he was SO IN LOVE
the human embodiment of the hearteyes emoji
and so the pair stayed in touch and went on a couple more dates and the boy was so gd smitten that grandma scarlett took his phone during one of their phone calls and was like “darlin if you don’t fly down here to meet me i’m going to think my grandbaby is just talking to a complete stranger on here.”
and then bethany flew down and met scarlett and she was so excited because !!!! her grandson had a girlfriend !!!!
grandma scarlett was the biggest supporter of anything rory did in life oh my GOD
at his graduation it was just grandma scarlett in the crowd for him but boy did it sound like the whole crowd was cheering for him when his name was called
anyway flash forward to he’s in college and he’s moved away to be closer to bethany.  which should not have affected his life but when he was looking at colleges fr fr after acceptances the boy chose one closer to his girl
we love a softie ok
anyway on bethany’s 19th birthday he took her to an airport and was surprising her with a trip to disney that he’s been saving up for for MONTHS !!!!
and at the airport he was like all jittery and nervous bc in his pocket he had an engagement ring but he did his bEST to hide it all from beth bc surprises
not that he planned the whole thing ( he did ) but it just so happened they were in the same restaurant waiting for their flight as their first date way back when
and in the middle of dessert, the waiters singing happy birthday this boy attempts to be sly and gets down on one knee.  but didnt realize there would be someone coming up behind him to keep up the singing and he ..... kinda caused a mini avalanche of people
and he apologized and is like still on one knee and now he’s looking at bethany with a BRIGHT RED face and he had had this whole speech worked out in his mind ok but all that comes out is, “i love you, please marry me?” in like an awkward stutter because he just TOOK OUT AN ENTIRE WAITSTAFF
somehow bethany said yes ??? and they’re engaged ???
oh and someone got the whole thing on camera and like that happened
the video skyrocketed to the most viewed video entitled “i witnessed an awkward proposal???? and she still said yes?????”
which is also lowkey how he started his youtube channel ??
“hi yes it’s me the guy who proposed to an olympic athlete while taking out a whole waitstaff?? i dont know why she said yes either but i love her??”
and for a long time it was mainly vlogs of him and beth and him and his friends
okay so fast forward and rory’s graduated college with a degree in history education bc he wants to be a teacher and he’s got to fly back to alabama and miss his graduation because he got a phone call and grandma scarlett had a stroke
so the boy is freaking out but it’s fine !!! grandma goes home and he winds up staying down and now he’s trying to figure out how to be with beth, find a job in ny, but also take care of his grandma
for a while he toys with the idea of moving grandma up to new york and helping her find a place.  so he goes back to new york to talk to beth about it and he’s freaking out and he gets home and she tells him she’s pregnant
of course he never expected to be like 20 and having a baby but ??? whatever.  now he’s freaking out because his grandma is not doing good and he’s worried about her and now he’s got to figure out what to do with a BABY ???
and bethany then tells him she wants to get an abortion and rory’s already stressed and so he flips bc of emotions and they get into a huge fight and it just winds up with him leaving and heading back to alabama and bethany in their apartment
so rory goes home to alabama and he keeps getting notifications on social media about bethany so he just shuts his phone off and i’m talking like he goes days without touching his cell phone.  he takes a hiatus from youtube because he’s freaking out and
two months after he’s home he seemed like scarlett was doing better so he took her to a party in town to see some of her friends and at the party scarlett had another stroke.
she died six days later, never waking up from the medically induced coma they put her in.
flash forward a couple more weeks after he’s working with lawyers for his grandma’s estate and rest assured scarlett pearson had nothing but her house, her garden, and her beat up corvette that her deceased husband wyatt bought her for their anniversary one year
so its a shocker to find out that scarlett pearson was worth 43.7 billion dollars
and now that money all goes to rory because he’s her only living heir ???
so rory gets this BOATLOAD of money and the local newspaper picks it up which brings it to the national news and somehow it made international news
“local alabama boy from youtuber to billionaire overnight”
so he kept his grandma’s house in alabama because ..... he can’t seem to let that go and why should he ?? its a good house and holds a lot of memories
but he does in fact buy a brownstone in manhattan its HUGE and he doesn’t have enough things to fill the whole space up but ??? he’s working on it slowly.
he created a makeshift recording studio in one of the upstairs rooms and has been working on music, which is new to him ?? he was always a bit artistic but never sure enough to like try it out
oh and he’s returned to youtube, he’s got a decent following i guess
i mean lbr he’s hot ???? and sings ??? so ??? ya know
personality:
okay so this is long already so im gonna keep this short n sweet
rory is a sweet boy, never really an athletic type always more focused on his studies than sports.
spent a lot of time with his grandma and he’s very easily attached to people he’s close to.  not exactly clingy, but it’s really hard for him to let people go i guess ???
used to love shows like survivor and big brother and amazing race. always toyed with the idea of applying to be on amazing race but he never had anyone who would go with him, or could for that long.
he’s a real kind hearted guy and clumsy as fuck
a bit awkward when you first meet him but ??? you warm up quickly and so does he
clumsy af as noted earlier
kind of depressed ??? idk he’s not seeing anyone for it but post losing beth, his grandma, and like the possibility of a family in the future he’s kinda ..... morbid
puts on a happy front for youtube
oh and he does a podcast talking about stuff with his friends idk what exactly but ?? its prob music and movies lbr
connections:
best friend(s)--self explanatory; people who he gets along with and they’re like his ride or dies.
nerd friends--give him someone to geek out with please he’s SUCH A NERD !!!! or someone who likes learning random things he’s got u
musical friends--people who he met through starting to delve into music
youtube community--give me people who !!! met through youtube and often do colabs together.  probably ppl who were shooketh when he came back and was like “bro i have 40 billion dollars????”
wealthy friend(s)--give me someone who will teach this boy how to be wealthy ??? like cause he knows nothing about that he struggled a lot growing up and with college and several part time jobs he doesnt know how to like party or anything
idk anything else

Yowzah prompt: marry me
“I wish you could’ve been there, River. It would’ve been so much more fun.” Amy says, sighing as she leans her elbows on the table.
The three of them - River, Amy and Rory - are huddled together at the dining table, flipping through a photo album. They’ve reached their wedding day, dozens of photos of Amy and Rory having the time of their lives, and dozens more of the Doctor looking utterly ridiculous on the dancefloor.
“I was there,” River reminds her. “I just couldn’t stay very long.”
“Which isn’t the same.” Amy insists. “Right, Rory?”
She turns to her husband expectantly.
“Of course.” He nods, though he shoots River a look.
River smiles. “You know the rules, Amy.” She looks down at the photograph of her husband dancing, a sad smile on her face as she asks, “How long has it been since you’ve seen the Doctor?”
“It’s been a couple of weeks.” Rory says, noticing the way she looks at the picture. “How long has it been for you?”
River swallows. “A while.” she says softly.
She doesn’t miss the way Amy frowns at Rory but she ignores it, choosing instead to examine it carefully. She remembers that day well. Her husband was young - he hadn’t even been kissed yet. He was easy to fluster, floundering and fumbling around her, and she so misses the way he’s blushed when he asked if she was married.
It’s been too long since she’s seen him. Any version of him. It’s killing her slowly, a knife inching deeper as it twists. She feels herself just aching to see him - even if it means spending time with a version of him that doesn’t really know her yet - anything is better than not seeing him at all.
“I’m sure he’ll turn up sooner or later,” Amy says optimistically. She frowns at Rory over River’s head, jerking her head towards their daughter and mouthing do something.
“Yeah,” Rory chuckles weakly, unsure. Amy glares over at him and he clears his throat. “Um, you know how he is, River. He’ll show up when you least expect -”
Right on cue, the telltale sounds of the Tardis whooshing into their backyard fill their ears.
“That is incredible.” Rory mutters.
River doesn’t answer. She stands at rushes to the blue box, frowning and muttering under her breath. Her parents immediately follow suit, understanding that something is wrong. River places her hands gently on the door, closing her eyes as she strokes the wood.
“The Doctor’s sick. He’s been poisoned.” River says quickly, and she throws open the Tardis doors, rushing straight to the corridors.
“What?” Amy and Rory say together, their voices full of panic and worry.
“The poison isn’t lethal.” She assures them, walking so fast that the two of them have to jog to keep up. “It attacks the part of his brain that deals with memory - that’s why he couldn’t fly the Tardis. He couldn’t remember how.”
“But he’ll be okay, right?” Amy asks.
River pauses. “I’m not sure,” she admits. “The Tardis doesn’t know exactly when he ingested the poison. If we don’t administer the antidote in time he could suffer from permanent memory loss.”
She finally finds the right door and pushes it open, frowning when the darkness overtakes her eyes.
“Doctor?” she calls out tentatively.
“River!” an overly enthusiastic voice answers her, and before she can even process what’s happening, two long arms wrap themselves securely around her waist and pulls her into the darkness. She feels a warm body around her and she freezes, not quite sure what to do. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen you, honey.”
She relaxes the instant he speaks in her ear, her body letting go of the tension - until she feels two warm hands on her arse.
“Doctor.” she hisses, and he jumps off like he’s been burnt. “Rory, please turn on the lights.”
“Sorry,” the Doctor pouts, as a loud click is heard and the room is thrown into illumination. They’re in the sick bay, medical appliances lining the walls and a lone bed in the centre. “I thought they knew I’ve already seen your… you know.”
River surpresses the urge to giggle, sneaking a looks back at her parents. Rory looks like he’d rather get eaten by a bear than be a part of this conversation and Amy is looking straight at her, smirking and waggling her eyebrows.
“Sit down, sweetie.” she says, taking his hand and leading him over to the bed. “Could one of you find me a blue scanner? It’s got round buttons and a purple dial on the side.”
“River, remember that time we were getting chased by man-eating cheetahs and we ate the leaves from the Tuffle trees so we could run faster and have more energy? And we ended up having too much energy because we ate too many leaves, and we wore it all off in the bedroom for three days straight?” he chatters off in rapid speed. By the time River realises what he’s talking about, it’s too late to cut him off. From behind her, she hears Rory clearing his throat.
“Is there anything you need that isn’t in this room?” he asks, clearly uncomfortable. River takes pity on him and turns, rifling through a drawer before she hands him a piece of paper.
“That’s the recipe for the antidote. Go to the kitchen and prepare the ingredients. Make sure you wear gloves, some of the items are toxic to your skin. I’ll come and help as soon as we get him settled.” she instructs.
He nods seriously, taking off as he reads the piece of paper.
“River, do you remember it? You were still in university then, and we weren’t married yet.” His eyes widens as he looks at her, and she frowns at him.
“What’s wrong, sweetie?” she asks, wiping his forehead. He’s got a horrible fever.
“Are we married?” he asks, fearfully. “I don’t remember it, River.”
“Of course we are,” she assures him quietly, her heart stopping a little. How long has it been since he got poisoned? How long does he have left? “Of course we’re married, sweetie.”
“Don’t lie to me. You always lie to me.” He says, shaking his head. “I want to marry you now. Marry me, River. Marry me.”
“I only lie to you when I need to,” she says patiently. Behind her, Amy lets out a triumphant noise, holding up a device just like the one River described. “I don’t need to lie to you now, Doctor. We’re already married, I promise.”
“Here’s the scanner, River.” Amy says handing it over.
“Let’s do it again, then.” He says eagerly, as River places the scanner over his forehead. “A second wedding, just to make sure.”
River smiles a little. “We’ve had seven hundred and forty-four weddings.”
“Let’s make it seven hundred and forty-five, then.” He counters, his eyes wide as he looks up at her sincerely.
“Maybe,” she says quietly, pressing buttons and turning the dial. “Tell you what, if you’ll let me work quietly for about two hours, we can go get married again afterwards. Sound okay?”
He pouts. “You won’t leave without telling me again, will you? I didn’t like it last time.”
The scanner beeps as River swallows, smiling sadly. She remembers her uni days, when she was so terrified of what she was feeling that she wouldn’t let herself spend more than a day with him. That had ended as soon as she graduated - the day they got married, the very first time she told him she loved him.
“I won’t do that anymore.” She strokes the side of his face gently. “I promise.”
He nods, trusting her. “Good.”
She bends down to give him a kiss on the cheek before she turns to Amy, who’s been watching silently at the end of the bed.
“Take care of him. I’ll be back in an hour.” she says.
Amy nods tersely, before turning to the Doctor. “You look rubbish, Doctor.” Amy says to him.
“Thank you, Donna.” The Doctor says sleepily, before he dozes off.
An hour and a half later, River, Amy and Rory watch as the Doctor sleeps peacefully after receiving the antidote to the poison.
“I’ve got the morning shift tomorrow, so I need to get going.” Rory says to the both of them. “We should go.”
“You can stay if you want to. It’s a time machine, after all.” River offers. “And he’ll want to see you when he wakes up.”
“He barely said two words to us,” Amy points out. “He couldn’t remember me and he kept asking for you the entire time I watched him. If there’s anyone he wants to see when he wakes up, it’s you.”
“Spend some time with your husband, Melody.” Rory says quietly. He was always like that - firm, calm, strong but quiet. She always found comfort in the way her father would speak to her. “You know where to find us if you need us.”
River stares at them for a long moment, silently contemplating. Amy shoots her a look that plainly says she won’t hear an argument against their decision - and River finally nods.
“Thank you for helping.” she says to them, smiling gratefully.
Her parents nod in reply, her father giving her a peck on the forehead and her mother hugging her tightly before they leave. River turns to her husband.
“What did you do, sweetie?” she asks her sleeping husband, frowning in concern. She takes his hand and intertwines their fingers together.
She falls asleep beside him, their clasped hands over the space between his hearts.
When she wakes up again, her head is on his shoulder and she feels a warm hand on her cheek, fingers stroking her skin delicately. She opens her eyes to find the Doctor gazing at her, his own eyes still heavy with sleep, but his face lighting up with a delighted smile.
“It’s so good to see you, River.” he whispers.
“Take it easy,” she tells him, sitting up. Their hands are still clasped but she doesn’t let go, holding on even tighter. “The antidote will give you a mild migraine for fourteen hours.”
“Did I ask you to marry me again?” he asks, squeezing her hand.
“Yes, you did.” she confirms, nodding as a fond smile spreads across her face. She tilts her head at him. “Do you want to?” she asks back.
The Doctor smiles up at her. “Always.”
