"—and you've got no nerve at all! Where's your heart in all this, Judas? You think you were with me for any other reason than that?! It was your heart, Judas. You were all heart. You were my heart! Don't you know that?!"
The Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Guirgis
I comPLETELY forgot about this, I think I made it for fun maybe right around graduating college, or sometime teetering on my college/PMDD/endo/newfound chronic pain burnout. (I think I discovered hadestown sometime in my second or third year and I’ve adored it since, might be my top musical. Definitely top 5)
It’s kind of oldish now but I think it’s still pretty good! I’ve gotta do more stuff like this!
I'm just a man
Whose fighting for his life
Deep down I would trade the world
To see my son and wife
I'm just a man
But when does a comet become a meteor?
When does a candle become a blaze?
When does a man become a monster?
When does a ripple become a tidal wave?
When does the reason become the blame?
When does a man become a monster?
If you attended college, regardless if you completed a degree or not, how many times did you change your major? count only times you actively took classes towards a degree (not how many times you thought about switching, etc). also if you want in the tags to list them you can!
to everyone who signed up, reblogged*, and followed yesterday! It means so much to see your support for the Kamehamehamlet Revival Project.
If you haven't yet, you can watch the announcement video here and read the Q&A here.
*A special shout out to the individual who commented #new tumblr hype thing that will probably fail to launch just dropped , and proceeded to follow anyway. I get it. We all want something to believe in. Thanks for choosing us.
Just to set some expectations, the goal is to share one larger post each month focused on the process, development, or context around the Revival Project. Additionally, I'll share something archival from the 2015 production weekly. If you just want to know when we have big news, sign-up at kamehamehamlet.com.
Also, our AMA is open so don't hesitate to ask us questions along the way!
This month's larger post will be about my approach to rewriting the script for distribution. Keep an eye out for it!
But first, as a thank you, I want to share promotional art that was never used during the initial run and likely only seen by 2-3 people.
A big part of MN Fringe promotion are the postcards advertising your shows. These are dropped off on the tables of various venues, posted onto corkboards around the city, and handed out to friends and family, who will kindly smile as they recycle them.
For the initial KHH postcard, I remade the MN Fringe logo in the style of the 2000s US Shonen Jump logo. Only then did I quickly learn what brand guidelines are whoops.
The above image shows the original design next to a SJ cover. The second image is of the final design of the postcard which beyond the obvious MN Fringe title change has as few smaller tweaks!
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you
