Okay, Part 2 to Fan of Mine
Warnings: breaking and entering
Word Count: 1680
Standing off to the side, Ace very nearly vibrated.
“Can you believe it, Sabo? She’s a fan of mine! She actually likes me! Or, well, Spade, but same thing, basically! Do you know what this means?!” Ace whisper yelled, his eyes lit up like a christmas tree.
“That she still hates the actual you?” Sabo asked, taking a sip of his champagne, bringing his brother’s mood crashing to the ground. He didn’t want to ruin Ace’s high, but he had to make sure Ace didn’t go doing something stupid. The dark haired brother stood there for a moment, thinking about what Sabo had said. You hated the real him. Looking back out at the dance floor, he saw you dancing with another noble boy. While you didn’t look real happy about dancing with him, you didn’t look at him with the same annoyance that you looked at Ace with. Feeling his heart sink, Ace nodded.
“I… yeah, you… you’re right.” Ace said softly, stuffing his hands in his pockets. Sighing, Sabo looked back at Ace. Now that he was down from his high, Sabo could encourage him without getting his hopes up.
“Maybe someone should pay her a visit later tonight after the party. I’m sure she’d like it if her favorite person in the kingdom wished her a happy coming-of-age.” Sabo said, making Ace perk up.
“Y-you think so?” Ace asked, a glimmer of hope back in his eyes as Sabo nodded.
“Absolutely. You can tell her you decided to see why all the lights were on when you spotted the girl who didn’t look like a walking clothing-makeup store.” Sabo said, gesturing to the other ladies. Ace nodded, feeling his mood return. He wasn’t quite as high as he had been 5 minutes ago, but this way he was hopeful while still being realistic.
Brushing through your hair, you sighed. It had been a long night, dancing with so many guys your feet hurt, now all you wanted was to finish getting ready and go to bed. Feeling your brush slowly pulled from your grasp, you spun around in terror, expecting to scream. Standing before your eyes, holding your brush, was the infamous Spade.
“Let me help with that. You must be tired after such a party.” he said past his scarf, gently turning you back around and starting to run the brush through your hair.
“W-what are you doing here?” you asked tentatively, hands nervously clenched in your lap. You were face-to-face with the Spade!
“Heard I wasn’t invited to the biggest coming-of-age ball of the year. Decided to see what I was missing. Gotta say, kind of sad that I missed a dance.” he said with a chuckle, continuing to brush your hair, his touch surprisingly gentle.
“I… I can give you a personal dance if you’d like. We don’t have music and I’m not wearing my dress, but I wouldn’t want you to leave without at least one dance.” you offered, your cheeks now bright red.
“I’d like that. Just one though. I… can’t stay.” He said, taking your hand and helping you up. You didn’t even care that his bare chest was on full display or that you couldn’t see his face, you were getting to dance with the guy you had a crush on, “You’re quite the girl, Y/n. Care to tell me why you didn’t scream?” Spade asked once your dance had ended. As Ace, he knew how you felt about Spade, but ‘Spade’ didn’t have that knowledge.
“I… I suppose you could say I’m a fan of yours. What you do, it’s really noble and kind. I… I kind of wish I could be like you. I try to help but I’m not a good thief, I can’t even steal an extra cookie in the middle of the night.” you said with a small smile.
“You’re still trying, that’s all that matters… Close your eyes for me.” he whispered softly, brushing some hair out of your face. Your heart pounded as you did what he said, feeling his lips against yours a second later. You were pretty sure you’d died as you melted into his kiss. The man pulled away a second later, taking your hands in his, pressing something into your palm, and closing your fingers around it, “Alright, you can look again.” he said, your eyes fluttering open. He was standing by your balcony now, out of your reach.
“I’ll catch you later, beautiful.” he said before jumping from the balcony and onto the grassy lawn below. Opening your hand, you almost squealed in excitement. There in your hands, was his calling card, a small, black, wooden spade.
Night after night he visited you, only skipping a night when he’d hit up another noble house to rob, but it was fine, you enjoyed meeting with him. Each time, he’d leave you with a kiss, your heart pounding in your chest. Most nights the two of you just talked, letting him sit on the balcony railing while you quietly chatted away, more than happy to have his company. With each meeting, you learned more and more about him. You knew that he was from somewhere in one of the upper districts, he’d gotten his start after seeing others suffering, he hated how nobles flaunted their wealth when there were people in need, he really liked spicy food, he enjoyed causing trouble, and, of course, he had a thing for you.
“Hey Y/n?” Spade asked, glancing over at you. He seemed a little melancholy tonight.
“What’s up?” you asked, standing on your balcony next to him, leaning against the railing.
“What if I told you… What if I already knew you even before your party?” he asked, his hand clenching into a fist. He couldn’t keep going on like this, he needed to tell you. Tilting your head to the side, you looked at him in confusion.
“I’d ask who in the world you are, because I don’t think I know anyone quite like you.” you said, wondering what he was getting at. Spade chuckled lightly and looked out into your courtyard.
“I’m different when I’m out in public. When I’m out like this, I can be more… me than usual. No expectations, no rules, no people breathing down my neck. Just free to be me.” he said, closing his eyes as he enjoyed the cool night air. You nodded in understanding. It was the same with being a noble, always putting on a certain face for people to see, never just being you.
“Then… Can I know who you really are? I know you, but I don’t know you.” you asked, gently taking one end of his scarf in your hand.
“Just… let me have one more kiss. If you hate me after showing you who I am, I want to leave with just one last kiss.” he said, his hand covering your eyes. Both of your hearts pounded in your chests as his lips met yours once again, Spade slowly, reluctantly, pulling away. Opening your eyes, you couldn’t help but gasp in shock, your hands covering your mouth. With his scarf lowered, you could see the signature freckles and familiar smile.
“A-Ace? You’re… you’re Spade?” you asked tentatively, watching as he took a deep breath and nodded.
“I know you’re not exactly fond of me, but I’ve cared about you for quite a while. Figured, since you liked Spade, maybe, I don’t know, maybe you could get to know me through him.” Ace said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. Your mind took a moment to process what he’d just said, stepping closer a moment later and caressing his cheek.
“So you mean to tell me the stupid show off that’s always trying to get my attention is the same generous thief that’s been visiting me?” you asked, making Ace chuckle and nod. You were responding surprisingly well so far, though you could easily turn that caress into a slap. All you could do was press your lips against his once more. The two of you had gotten to know each other, the real versions of each other and not the faces you put on for the public. Ace couldn’t help but melt as he wrapped his arms around you, deepening the kiss. How long had he dreamed of this? Of holding you and kissing you and for you to return his feelings but without the disguise.
“You really think I’m a stupid show off?” Ace asked once you pulled away, making you smile.
“Yes, but you’re my stupid show off.” you said with a smile. Ace smirked as he picked you up in his arms.
“Well why don’t I show you what this stupid show off is capable of?” Ace said, laying you on the bed, making you blush. Was he… was he going to do what you thought he was going to do? He could already see the gears turning in your head, see what you expected of him. Hesitating for a moment, he stared at you. He could, you weren’t turning him away. Still, he gently pulled the blankets over you, covering you and kissing your forehead.
“I’ll show you tomorrow. Meet me at the fountain?” he requested, tucking you in. You couldn’t help but nod, feeling rather tired. Ace turned to leave, pausing when he felt some resistance on his sleeve. Looking back, he noticed you holding his sleeve, a sleepy look on your face.
“Stay with me? Just for tonight?” you pleaded, your eyes shimmering with hope. He knew he couldn’t say no to you, not when you looked at him like that. Sighing, he quickly removed his scarf and hat before crawling in on the other side of the bed, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you close. The comfort of being in his warm arms quickly had you dozing off, Ace admitting how peaceful you looked before falling asleep himself. If you thought he was a show off before, you might just smack him for what he had planned tomorrow.

Phantom Thief Jamil AU feat. Ruggie and Ace.
(Yes Ace's cotsume is a combination of KID's and his ghostmari outfit. More AU notes under the cut)
Ruggie: A cat burglar from Sunset Savanna. Met Jamil when they targeted Sunset Savanna’s royal treasury simultaneously by pure happenstance. After being cornered by Leona’s countermeasures against burglary, they managed to escape by working together and relying on the other’s magic. Realising they could benefit from cooperation, they struck a business arrangement in which they execute heists together and split the spoils. Though they can hardly be considered “friends” given the constant suspicion, there’s still a level of camaraderie and understanding between them. Jamil typically masterminds the heists and Ruggie follows his instructions, but is frequently derailed by his own agenda and greed. They both lead their regular, day to day lives separately, but they’ll make the necessary arrangements to meet before executing a heist. After Octa is hired by the Asim family to investigate the thieves, Jamil moves strings for Ruggie to get a job at the pop-up lounge location and keep an eye on the fish. Unbeknownst to them both, Ruggie was already on Octa’s radar due to him robbing a safe in one of the Lounge’s branch locations in the past, but they agree to hire him in order to monitor his actions as well. Ruggie happens to enjoy his job at the lounge, and is a pretty competent worker, so Octa isn’t planning on getting rid of him…yet. (Keep your enemies close…)
Ace: A traditional phantom thief à la Kaitou KID. He currently works as an intern at a travelling circus from the Queendom of Roses where his older brother stars as the stage magician. He doesn’t have a leading role himself so he’s typically relegated to grunt work behind the scenes. He starts an undercover career as a phantom thief purely out of boredom and dissatisfaction with his current lot and does it for the thrill. His heists are performances that showcase his magic and sleight of hand skills. He’s well liked as a magician and there’s lots of speculation regarding his identity, which helps stroke his ego, but he has a tendency to overestimate himself and get in trouble. He publicly challenged Jamil to a heist, claiming he could steal Jamil’s target first. To the public eye, that appeared to be the case: Ace put on a flashy show…only to get trapped by him and Ruggie as he made his escape. Because of this, Jamil and Ruggie are aware of his civilian identity, but he isn’t aware of theirs. They allowed him to go and promised to keep his secret…in exchange for him providing assistance whenever requested. Jamil has been blackmailing him to act as bait for some time now, but it’s not like he’s able to refuse. Kalim frequents the circus whenever it visits the Scalding Sands, so the two have crossed paths normally without Ace knowing.

Oh my goddddd! The Valentine fic is so cuteee! Thank you so much! I read it right the second it came out and I absolutely love it!!
How are you today? If you are still taking requests, may I ask for another fic?
Ace is a noble that turns into a thief at night (Kinda lile Robin hood) and people don't know the real identity of Thief Ace. Fem!Reader is also a noble that does not get along with noble Ace, but she is a fan of thief Ace (having a huge crush on him). Ace likes her back and is over the moon once he learns that reader like Thief Ace, but also very sad and doesn't know how reader will react when she learns about his real identity. Happy ending, please. It can be either fluff or nsfw or both :^) I just really love the romance in yohr writing.
Feel free to skip this if you are not comfortable. Have a great day!!
Damn it, you always know how to make me write something and need to put it into 2 parts! I kid, I kid, I love it, I really, truly do. They're such great ideas. Thank you for always sending them in.
Part 2: Who I Really Am
Warnings: theft, insults
Word Count: 1300
Running across the rooftops, Ace chuckled to himself. He’d just dropped a load of cash off at various homes and orphanages. Not enough to be noticed by the guards, lest they realize and take it away, but enough to help each family. While he couldn’t do this every night, he would do it as often as possible, anything to help the people out. Having gone out to the slums before, he’d seen the suffering of those who lived below the middle district. It was something he couldn’t turn a blind eye to, so instead, he’d turned to stealing from people. But it was fine, the people he stole from always had more than enough to spare. Noble families with way too much money, merchants who flaunted their wealth like arrogant pricks, but he never hit up anybody who couldn’t afford it. He wondered if it was ironic that he, himself, was a noble. A noble stealing from nobles, actually what he did wasn’t that different from the things he’d seen other noble families do, he was just more honest about it.
Crawling into his bedroom window, Ace let out a soft sigh as he took off his ‘thief disguise’. A pair of beat up old, black shorts, clunky, cheap, black boots, a long black coat with red flames, a white scarf that he often pulled over his face, and an orange hat. Thief Alias: Spade, wanted all across the kingdom, dead or alive. His ‘daytime persona’? Portgas D. Ace. Adopted grandson of Marquess Monkey D. Garp, adopted brother of Sabo and Luffy. He’d been adopted after his father, a duke from another country and that country’s greatest hero, had died, asking his longtime friend and fellow ‘hero’ to take care of his son.
“So, who did you steal from this time?” a voice asked, startling the boy as he spun around. Stepping out from the shadows cast by his wardrobe was his blond haired brother, arms crossed and smirking.
“Oh, Sabo. Fuck, you gotta stop doing that. Damn near gave me a heart attack. Nobody special, well, I mean, as a noble, they think they’re special, but nobody we ever care about.” Ace said, hiding his outfit in a secret drawer under his wardrobe.
“Great, but we have a party tomorrow, remember? This cuts into your sleep and I’m not covering for you again.” Sabo scolded. He didn’t mind Ace going out, what he minded was constantly being responsible for his brother. Despite being the ‘responsible brother’, he’d rather be stealing from nobles like Ace did. Thinking about it for a moment, Ace’s eyes lit up.
“It’s Y/n’s party! She’s finally 18 so her parents are throwing her a coming of age ball!” Ace said excitedly. He’d had a crush on you for ages despite how often you turned him away, this party was his chance to impress both you and your parents. No one really knew why, but your parents had decided to wait a year on your coming-of-age ball, but he didn’t mind so long as he had a shot at you. If he could impress you, you’d let him court you, if he could impress your parents, they wouldn’t interfere.
Smoothing out your dress, you took a deep breath. It was a fairly simple dress, but then, despite the kind of party, you’d wanted it to be. You wanted something that would make you look gorgeous, but not like all the other noble girls who always wore ostentatious dresses. Spade would never go for a girl like them, they were too stuck up and interested in their wealth, he’d probably be more interested in someone more low-key. Admittedly, it was still a dress befitting someone of your rank, but for a young noblewoman, it was rather ‘plain and uninteresting’. No large petticoats, no gemstones adorning the netting or waist, and no puffy sleeves. Sleek, simple, but gorgeous. You’d stand out from all the girls wearing large ball gowns while still looking stunning. Even your jewelry was simple. No large, complex necklaces, no giant earrings, and no stupid coming-of-age tiaras. Simple and elegant. Enough to catch Spade’s eye while not making him roll his eyes. Did you think he would stop by? No, not with so many people here, but maybe he’d peek in to see what was going on.
Standing in the crowded room, Ace eagerly awaited your entrance, his head perking up when he heard them announcing your presence. You looked more stunning than ever. Like elegance personified. Part of him had expected a poofy dress that wouldn’t look good on you with pounds of jewelry and make up to make you look as ‘beautiful as possible’ but would only serve to hide your true beauty. This… this made his heart stop. An elegant, streamline dress with simple gloves, a simple necklace with only a few stones, small, elegant, silver earrings, and dainty, yet ‘understated’ heels. Your hair was pulled up into a half ponytail and slightly curled, framing your face perfectly, and your make-up was surprisingly minimal. He couldn’t do this. You were too beautiful, too stunning, there was no way he could ask an absolute goddess like you to dance, to even approach you! Even still, he couldn’t let another guy have you. Swallowing hard, he wiped his hands on his suit and nervously walked up to you.
“C-care to dance?” Ace asked, hoping you didn’t notice the way his words were stuttered and broken up.
Staring at his hand, you sighed. Portgas D. Ace, another noble boy. While you weren’t particularly fond of most noblemen, you had a particular dislike of this one. Always bothering you, inviting himself to your tea time and helping himself to your snacks, coming and talking to you every time he saw you, even if it was clear you didn’t want to talk to him, and always, always, showing off! Still, it would be rude not to accept and his family was one you’d rather not spurn. Gently placing your hand in his, you let him lead you to the dance floor, the boy grinning like the idiot he was. Thinking for a moment, you grinned, you had just the thing to drive him off!
“So, Ace, have you heard about the latest sighting of Spade?” you asked, watching a strange expression flash across his face for a split second.
“Eh, only vaguely, I hear he’s causing more trouble for the other noble families.” he said with a small shrug as if he wasn’t interested.
“Well, I mean, that is what he does, but I mean have you actually heard about him?” you pushed, watching as he shook his head no.
“Nah, he’s not important enough to keep tabs on.” Ace lied. Okay, he knew exactly what ‘Spade’ was up to, but he had to play the part of an uncaring, stuffy noble.
“Not important enough? Are you serious? Not only is he stealing from people like you and I but he’s the hottest topic in all of the social circles and my personal favorite.” you said, huffing slightly. It figured Ace wouldn’t like Spade, Spade probably stole all of Ace’s spotlight. Ace swore his heart entered his throat and stopped! You were a fan of Spade’s? You were his fan?!
“A-are you sure?” Ace managed to force out, his voice wavering. It couldn’t be, the woman of his dreams was a fan of his? You liked what he did? You… would it be alright to say that you had a crush on him?!
“Of course I’m sure! Spade is the most amazing guy in the kingdom and nothing anybody says can convince me otherwise!” you snapped slightly. You were serious, you weren’t putting on a show to drive him away, you actually liked Spade. Ace’s heart pounded now more than ever.

I loved the One Piece Live Action. So silly! So fun! So unabashedly camp! It made me fall in love with all its mains and kept what I like most about anime. Anime (and especially One Piece) tends to be character driven because the plots can have no limits at times (it needs to ground the story somewhere or it might float off). And, and, and I just love chaotic character driven ride or die group dynamics that have easy queer readings.
OPLA is the campest thing I've seen in a long while. I giggled when Mihawk appeared. The vibe! The outfit! Buggy, too, is so much of a hot mess that it's strangely alluring and I get why he's babygirl to every powerful seaman of the last generation.
I'm happy the show leaned in on all that op camp. I'm looking forward to next season where I might get more silly camp, more ride or die group dynamics, Ace (probably), and the development of Zoro's and Sanji's love/hate Benedick and Beatrice style bickering (hopefully with aggressive forehead touching).
