I'm going to go off about some random filler episode that's supposedly at least somewhat Deidara centric, because...????

Shippuden ep 457 "Partners"

Right off the bat. Deidara's voice is....so deep. I was a little surprised because I haven't properly heard it in so long

(my timestamps are broken so...it's not exact.)

3:03 his height difference with Pein is surprising... You'd never really notice how short he is unless you looked into it. Really, Deidara has quite the aura.

4:04 Although I LOVE his half up half down hairstyle, I also loved his low ponytail. Realistically, it doesn't make sense for him to just switch up his style like that, he coulda kept it for a little longer, you know?...but they don't really care, I'd think so. (but for the fact that we see him tying his hair up, which is pretty pretty, it's forgivable you know)

(Timestamp inexact) For a few seconds in the overhead frame where they overlook the sand disc, I notice that Deidara is now wearing his socks. This is set in the past, so Dei wore beige "khakis" and sandals instead of the classic dark desaturated blue pants with matching "ninja shoes" with those.... Socks that have a stripe going OVER the shoe. So in this shot, he's supposed to be wearing his old clothes. It's not like he could just go "Hey wait here Danna, I'm going to go change my pants." (Which is weird and out of character, I should also mention that he already calls Sasori "Danna" despite having met him just today, which means Sasori has done NOTHING to earn Deidara's respect just yet. The disgrace.)

Also, Why'd they send the new kid out for the important mission of "take down the rogue member of our group"? To be fair, Dei has spark. Power. And they know that, but...? Oh, gee. It's a filler episode...

Somewhere around 5:20 Deidara opened up his cloak to reach out for clay. There are so many errors in these few frames? First of all, his nails ARE NOT supposed to be painted black yet! Why, did they just stop along the road, halting their important mission to get his nails done? Ludicrous. My attention is pointed to his clay pouch since he was reaching for that, and the chain dangling between said pouch and the belt is missing. At least they remembered that he had only one pouch on his left side at the time. He still has the bottom half of his cute kimono jacket but... It's that dark, desaturated blue like his new outfit. And he has the crop top and mesh undershirt above the belt now so HUH????? They didn't forget his new, shiny ring but they did forget the consistency of his clothing and... It's just kinda sad. Feels bad for the animators.

I should also mention that within the frame, his front hair fwips and flows, exposing his other eye sometimes. Though there isn't anything drawn there, which is fine enough, but in the next few frames when he turned to look at Sasori to his right, Deidara SUDDENLY has his eye scope even though at that point, he was fresh in and probably didn't develop it yet. (Okay but I kinda found it endearing how enthusiastic he was to perform his art.)

Somewhere in 5:30 something, Deidara's face is a lil derpy which is cute

Orochimaru appears. Knows Deidara immediately, calls him a kid which Deidara's opposes to. Look...orochi is like... A grandpa compared to him, so, that's fair enough to say, isn't it?

Sasori sent Deidara to go lookout, which Deidara looked annoyed about. Sasori said that Deidara, unless he had any grudges, wouldn't have any reason to fight the snake man. Which, fair. At that point, he probably held nothing against...but he looked and sounded miffed about it. Maybe just because he wants to preform his art and not because of a mysterious grudge? I don't know. This is a filler.

...well crap I ran out of image slots. Here's to hoping your imagination still works because I AM NOT DONE!

Sasori is fighting using a dead guy's corpse, Orochi summons said dead guy from the grave, Deidara looks somehow cute looking down from above. But he's also supposed to be handsome...hmmph.

Dang. Feels bad for the third Kazekage over there.

NOOO THE IRON SAND RAINED UP AT DEI AND ended up destroying the wing of his ride somehow...? He's coming crashing down.... Poor guy.

9:00 Deidara is raining explosives! Not much to comment.

In the subsequent scene, he's descending FAST into the ground. Which means you can catch his eye scope EVEN IF HES NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE IT YET

He's...getting a nice chance to shine, even if it's futile. Go, go Dei.

"After you two die, I'll resurrect you both in the same way."

...

Well...not you though, snake.

Gee, the Kazekage really has it rough being Sasori's puppet and Orochimaru's pawn at the same time.

5:48 something Dei's flock of creations are being sent after Orochimaru www, he gets to have his scene and his signature line is said! "Art is... An explosion!" And sounds so enthusiastic too!~ so glad he's happy here, blowing up the sand disc thing....

...though there is one thing to mention. And it's that his ring, though on the correct hand and finger, is on the upper part of his finger just under the nail for some reason.

Man, that explosion was so dramatic.

Heh, everyone's having a holographic zoom meeting. No comment here... Well, one. Deidara. He's very cute there.

Oh. Second half. Hidan's there. I find it funny how he has a modern day jacket as his original fit... Either that or he hasn't got a top on. Inconsistencies. I much prefer the jacket though.

Now....many a minutes later. 18:55. Deidara's there, fleeting cherry blossoms. Deidara's doing his thing, performing his art. He blows up a castle! He looks very happy, he's in his element, he's where he's supposed to be! I don't know what art makes him feel like...but it seems to be good.

Dei... always so flashy.

There isn't Deidara anymore, so, I'm signing out.

#mp answers #i've been trying so hard not to be annoying to my bnha friends but if you will allow me to push this for this ask let me say 🙏#if you're afraid of the episode count for one piece the manga is a lot quicker read while being just as enjoyable because the art style is #an actual delight. its great its fantastic im absolutely in love with it #the series is soooo good and i know luffy can seem unappealing to people before they start but he's just SUCH a great character & continues #to be even now. the story is SO GOOD the characters are SO GOOD... theres so much lore and world building that its insane #if you read the manga we get 'cover stories' on what's going on with previous characters to see what theyre up to even though we moved on #from where we left them. a lot of these cover stories blend into the main story so well its just seamless #there's one where we get introduced to a character we dont see hundreds of episodes into the anime and they show up like; during the second #saga. the series is about traveling to other islands and every single arc has been tied to another in some way or form that shows up later #even if its sagas and sagas later- it still becomes relevant again!! it's a huge ongoing story and there isnt a single arc that feels like #it has no purpose (sans filler in the anime-but even then!! some filler arcs are really entertaining!)#it's emotional! its sad! its downright stupid and silly but GOD... you can feel the love that oda put into this series and his characters #and the emotions in the expressions and the messages the story gives off it just makes me UEUHGHHAHGHH!!!#it's all about the adventure and the romance of it all! its about the freedom it brings and bringing freedom to others!#its a series where treasure should be a focus given its pirates and the its a giant treasure hunt for the one piece and yet! and yet so man #of the characters treasures are things that are not coins and gems but people and promises and family and and #im going to EXPLODE i love one piece

Seriously peeps, how can I feel mad with all that perfection that was given to us?

This episode had a lot of little things that made it so enjoyable, even if it felt shorter.

First off, we feel Chopper getting attacked by Xiono's racist assumption towards droids which was both funny, and something I'm sure that ended up with us wanting our droid kick that insensitive mofo's ass.

C-3PO making his appearance in the Mandoverse at Leia's behest, backing up Hera during her trial.

Ahsoka slowly learning her final lesson as she trained.

MORE General Skywalker, even tho it was holographic.

SABEZRA MARRIED COUPLE VIBES WITH THEIR INTERACTIONS AND ARGUEMENTS!!

OUR SPACE KIDS KICKING ASS TOGETHER AGAIN!!!

I feel Clone X being Cody would be as emotional as it possible being Tech, because... the last time Crosshair saw Cody, they were fighting side by side. And Cody protected and helped Crosshair during the time, when all other regs ignored him.

Having Cody/Clone X call Crosshair out on "You could have been one of us" also has a double meaning of him trying to make Crosshair see the other side from S2.

I know people want it to be Tech and it probably is, but gods, having him be killed off and then brainwashed and revealed at what is gonna be the way mid/late part of the series is... oof. Especially since I doubt they'd kill him off AGAIN as a mercy kill because he's too brainwashed. That means he'd need to be helped back to normal again and there won't be enough time to handle that properly in the show.

But the latter is a problem in the series for sure; too many important things happen off screen and are often solved within one episode. The show isn't allowed to breathe and take things slow.

(Cody being revealed as having been brainwashed is of course bad too but like it or not, he's not one of the main characters of the show. Rex having to deal with a brainwashed Cody could very well be what forces him into retirement.)

Just my two cents.

And why is Echo ALWAYS sidelined in this show?!

#maybe they were too fed up with people calling everything filler in s2 and decided to always move the plot forward now #i really miss the old series where there was like 22 episodes at least in a season; and fillers ARE important #the bad batch #tbb season 3 #tbb critical #tbb spoilers #i love tech; he's my fave character but at this rate I don't think his return can be done in a satisfying way #like yeah sure theyre soldiers and handling things this and that way; but it's still a tv show; the AUDIENCE needs to see these things #you cant just hide everything between episodes and pretend its fixed afterwards

I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... Most biased media ranking system on earth blatantly made by someone with an extremely hyperspecific range of narrow interests. It'd be like if a food reviewer only had 5 foods they actually liked, so they'd just go to a pizza place and be like "eh, the pizza was okay, but I just think it would be better if it was cereal instead. :/ ...2 out of 10"

chainsaw man makes you think its a sick action anime where a horny guy made of chainsaws murders a bunch of guys and gets a sorta fucked up found family along the way, but then you watch it and its actually about a 15 year old boy getting groomed and everybody hates everyone else but theyre mostly busy hating themselves and then everyone dies

"Stan favors Mabel and Ford Dipper" WRONG!!!

#We see them interact less due to their personalities.#Mabel is attracted to Stan much quicker #due to her nature of getting on other's good sides and wanting to be friends #as well as outgoing.#While Dipper was still unsure about his feelings of this for all intents and purposes stranger #Mabel would have squeezed her way into his life already. Dipper is not good with people #and insecure #so he takes Stan's jabs seriously just like he does with Mabel. Mabel and Stan have a love language #that include a few insults that have no real feelings in it.#He wouldn't catch on and participate or (depending on when) tell him straight up he doesn't like it.#Dipper is in it for the mysteries and locks himself up while focusing on it. It's on his mind the entire show.#Ford wasn't meant to talk to the kids. He was even avoiding Dipper until an accident happened and he got caught up in the game of ddmd.#Not to mention that the episodes almost always contribute to the story #even filler ones. They may not progress the plot but they will reveal sides of characters or show them growing or changing.#Ford was in it so little that they needed to squeeze the most out of the time which led to little Mabel and him filler.#He didn't have any problems with Mabel unlike how Dipper had some problems with Stan so that wasn't an issue to address #they love each other ur honor #gravity falls #my ramblings

It feels like we’re finally watching a season of Big Brother

#I’m on episode 4 now and GENUINELY do not understand where all the hate is coming from #no it’s not as good as the source material and that’s fine #that doesn’t make it bad #I think theyve made a lot of very smart decisions as far as adaptation goes #like centering multiple plots within Omashu. that’s smart as fuck!#and sure there’s not as much breathing room for filler but the characters?? are still?? having mini side quests???#ffs TAO is here. that in and of itself is shocking #also they are straight up burning people alive on screen on the regular.#I think this adaptation has already justified itself by casting literal children and just. letting them face the horrors of war #it’s easy to forget how young these characters are when animated but it’s fucking hard NOT to be constantly reminded #when watching actual 12 and 14 year olds.#azula hasn’t done much yet but fuck dude. its funny to me how when Adventure Time first came out, I kind of hated it. I was 18, it was a weird show, the old elephant lady got trapped in a crystal, and I just figured cartoons weren't for me...finally.

And then, three-ish years later, I found out about bubbline and marceline and the post-apocalyptic setting and went :O and decided to watch only the episodes with Marceline at a taster. But, as I was watching, I found the humor pretty good and the episode What Was Missing made me go :OOOO despite what I thought initially and went back to watch all of it.

And not shockingly, I fucking loved it. Its filler episodes never felt unimportant, the emotional beats were gripping, the story-telling only got better and better, the music was great, the moral lessons were complex, and its characters were full of depth and frankly amazing. I fell in love, which was only further cemented with episodes like Thank You and I Remember You (the latter of which still makes me cry just thinking about). Never before had a cartoon made me feel like that or told a story quite like that, nor do I really think I've seen one that has done quite the same thing.

Adventure Time is unique in how it holds its more mature topics under this wacky, nonsensical veneer; truly frightening or dark or serious issues and themes (dementia, abandonment, puberty, sexuality, boundaries, morality, death, love, loss, sickness, etc) told in a palatable way for all ages and it knows when to pull its punches and when to not hold back. It's enjoyable and funny and and creepy and heart-wrenching and satisfying and philosophical. As much as I enjoy other story driven cartoons made at a similar time (Steven Universe and Gravity Falls are forever in my heart and excellent in their own specific ways), Adventure Time will always stand above them for me just for how much and how well it did what it did with its setting and its characters.

If you've never watched it, give it a go. The first half of season 1 is whacky and silly and strange, but, I promise you, parts of those nonsensical episodes are extremely important even now in the spinoff and its all setting up for something wonderful and for something that have your brain turning over and over again, faster and faster the deeper you get into the seasons and the more you get to know the complex web of intersecting stories that is Adventure Time.

Also it has a really buff cool strong lady who's emotional payoff is *chef's kiss* and the vampire and the pink gum princess are jilted ex-partners and the main antagonist is voice by Ron Perlman. What more do you want from me?

Finished the live action avatar

It’s not a perfect adaptation, I think the biggest thing is they have taken a lot of the fun out of it, Aang doesn’t wanna go do kid stuff, Iroh is way more serious, BUT I don’t necessarily blame like the series itself as much as I blame the current state of tv being in constraints of like 8 episodes and wanting people to binge it in the first few days and everything.

I hope they let Azula be as scary as possible next season, I think they just wanted her introduced a bit earlier since everyone was gonna be waiting for it, I hope they let Iroh chill out a bit more, but in general from my point of view if you see people bashing this series with as much vitriol as the movie then they’re being super dramatic. There are parts that could absolutely be better but like I said those issues go hand in hand with issues with all of tv right now. I think it’s decent at least, I know it’s a beloved series but some people are being HARSH

#bring back filler and characters just hanging out #and stop expecting people to watch shit in the first 30 seconds before you cancel it #for reference I think it’s a better adaptation than the new Percy Jackson tbh #same kinda vibes in the exposition dumps and kinda treating the audience like idiots but avatar just slightly bumps above percy for me #other minor issues are the acting at times but some of those times are literal children #a lot of people seem pissed at the zuko portrayal but season one zuko is dramatic af a lot of the time #and I think Dallas Liu just turned that up a bit and made him angrier which I’m not mad at #I wish katara was a little snarkier I saw someone mention her rage being kind of hamstrung and they were kinda right #it’s not entirely gone but it’s not there as much as I’d like #cgi is kinda whack at times too but that’s everything atm as well not avatar specific #the martial arts pretty good too esp fire bending they still clearly took from Shaolin kinda styles #I do wish they’d speed aang up a bit though #both in general but also stop using slow mo when he’s doing shit #anyway #I’m not super mad at it #if they don’t fuck up toph and do some better characterising of azula and iroh we might actually see it to the end #and some more episodes for like actual development but I feel like that’s wishful thinking with Netflix rn #even like 10-12 would be better and then sokka could’ve had his development with the Kyoshi warriors #and aang can show more of his reluctance and fear because he’s a twelve year old pacifist #avatar #avatar the last airbender #avatar live action #atla

#between us the series #between us #happy we got at long last more manow - i love her #this episode was kind of filler but hopefully they got most of the sponsorships out of the way like this #the teamwin scenes in the beginning felt a bit disconnected because of it but i adored the last bit where they each spoke to their friends #abotu their feelings #much to dean's honest concern and breaking p'preuk's mind #i was ready for standard drama and probably would have liked it but i also like the implicit angst of both of them thinking they're one-side #ly in love (my kind of idiots)#and how jarring it must be to hear your crush talk about having had sex with you to his friends while you yourself haven't even mentioned be #ing interested in the guy before your own friends #just tastiness all around #happy we got win and his brothers but i couldn't care less about bumblebee and prince #again: cannot wait until next week #maybe it is the red herring for this week with last week's preview but why do i feel like team's night time practice will be far more dramat #ic than the preview suggests?#to be fair to p'pruek: i didn't expect win to tell them that he had slept with team already #also respect dean being a friend but still watching out for no juniors getting hurt

ngl i actually quite like the black rose arc

#yeahhh its probably one of the weaker arcs but even aside from how ppl call it ''pointless filler'' (not true)#i personally had a lot of fun with it #again wakaba flourishing is genuinely a fantastic episode all around but idk. i like it when side characters get to have the spotlight #even the eps that feel less connected still feel great for the meta of the overall show and its story #like how touga doesnt actually have anyone who is genuinely close to him- the only ones who could count are other duelists #so they have to REALLY stretch the line and have one of nanami's previously one dimensional lackeys take his sword #and while doing so they also show how nanami's friends arent even her friends. they just use each other and hate each other #so its also a great nanami episode #the one who i wish got more time is kanae but at the same time i do get why she faded into the background #bc akio's degraded her so much that she loses more and more of herself over time...#idk if ive ever said this but man. i like kanae. her story in the show is really fucked up and tragic too #i like to think after the finale that nanami or someone helped her leave akio and ohtori... even if shes fully under his control #so was anthy and she still got out. so i wanna think theres hope for kanae #echoed voice
