A moan flees from your mouth as water melts the grime and weariness off your skin. An upcoming expedition translates to a double or even triple training load, and every inch of your body was pleading for a nerve-untangling bath. Upon ducking into your room, you lit up the vanilla-scented candle, letting the sweet, mouth-watering aroma suffuse your sweat-smelly cave. The straps and soaked clothes traced a path to the bathroom–tomorrow you’d mind about them. That same morning, you had filled the tub before scurrying to the training fields. Two buckets and six trips it took, but your forethought paid off.
Drops of lavender oil dappled on the water, little dots uncoiling in irregular blotches with thin rainbows warping at the edges. You stepped inside, mollifying in the warmth. A you and you moment, though, you regretted not having snuck some wine and cheese. You pinned that in the corkboard of your head for next time.
You scoot down, letting water skim your shoulders while your hands whirl underneath, cajoling bubbles. Some strands of hair fall from your messy bun, wicking and hanging in wet tendrils over your shoulders. You close your eyes and yield to the bath, clearing your mind, abiding by your plan to stay in there until you look like a raisin.
However, the little smile on your lips fade; your schemes have been torn and tossed to the bin. You crack one eye open, and it drifts towards the ajar door, the steps growing louder from the other side. You can put a face by the heaviness, the pace, the confidence, and you sigh when the hinges squeak.
“Your hand won’t fall off by knocking,” you scoff and then pop a half smile. What if I walk in while you taking a shit?”
“That won’t happen.” A smirk plays on his lips as he drags the stool next to the tub. “I never forget locking my doors.”
“You’re ruining my solo moment,” you pout and stick the tongue out, crossing your arms over the chest.
“Is it a fun solo moment?” One of his eyebrows rises, and his dimple meets daylight. He reaches a lock of your hair, birls it gingerly and twirls it like a spring around his finger.
“Sorry, but not, it’s not that kind of fun, Levi.” You wink. Without taking his eyes off you, his hand falls to your shoulder and remains there, lazily whisking, oblivious to the tingles and fire he stokes in you. You part your lips to talk, but instead, your eyes fidget around as your mind tries to dump icy water on the flames. And you’re here naked, in a so compromising position. Things can’t get worse. Now all your dignity relies on the thin layer of foam.
In fact, you want them to get worse.
But it seems Levi has thrown you to the friendzone, or the sisterzone.
His linen shirt is half open, letting you steal tiny peeks of his chiseled-by-gods chest; his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, veins crawling along his forearms. His hair is swept back, except for a few unmoored locks flicking over his forehead. His cheeks ruddy, and not by the incandescence of the sun.
“You’ve been drinking.”
“Only a pewter. Bumped with Miche and Moblit on my way here.” A finger makes its wat to your chin, and he tips your face up, scrutinizing you. Something you hate. You can feel the heaviness of his gaze rummaging through you.
“What’s bugging you?” He probes. Life ruthlessness to him has hardened his exterior and sensitized his interior like a raw-boned dog twitching his nose at the faintest smell of food. To survive, you need to focus on details.
Your eyebrows plunge into a scowl. “You.” Water sprinkles on his face, and he snaps away, wrinkling his nose. “You’re interrupting my bath.” You growl. But he doesn’t leave. No trace of irritation is embedded on his brows when his eyes drift back to you. Golden light peeking through the tiny window graces his features, sculpting his face in marble, and you notice something you’d never appreciated before.
He looms forward. One of his hands dangles from the wood rim while the other lazily coaxes whirlpools, moving dangerously close to your skin, and even though the foam is fading, you don’t stop him. You feel the waves crashing against the stretchmarks gnarling across your breasts.
You tilt your head, bringing your knees to your chest, huddling like a grounded child. “He dumped me, Levi.” You utter. The coil in your chest untangles; for the first time in weeks you breathe, and at the same time, you feel like hiding and crying. You gaze down, enthralled in the pattern he draws, and mindlessly seek his hand. His fingers intertwined with yours, and for a brief moment, it all feels right.
They fit.
And that scares you.
You try to pry off, but he chases your hand and tightens his grip.
“What happened?” His voice is diaphanous, yet he can’t hide the uneasiness.
You shrug. “I guess… I wasn’t as lady like as he expected me to be. You know, wifey material.”
“Bullshit.” He fiddles with your fingers, tipping his head by a fraction, and raises an eyebrow.
“I hate you right now.”
He shakes his head and extricates from you, resting his wrist at the rim of the bathtub, and watches you, sweeping his tongue between his lips. “I’m just worried.”
You heave a sigh that blows off a lock of hair off your face and lean against the head of the tub, closing your eyes and pinching the bridge of your nose. You breathe in and when you muster the energy you need, your hand falls from your face, your eyes crash with his. “Promise me you won’t do anything stupid.” You shift your body until the water whisks your chin, folding your arms over your knees. “I dumped him, Levi.”
And even though he knows he shouldn’t be feeling that way, his heart beats with respite.
“He hit me.” You say stolidly as if it were a trivial fact.
His eyes bang open, and his insides rot with unbridled anger. His lips are pressed into a white slash, gray irises trembling, his grip threatening to rip the bathtub. You have triggered an implosion; you can see the echo of the fireball glinting in his eyes and oozing through every pore.
“Do I go on?” You suck on your bottom lip, averting his flaring gaze.
“You do.” He says with a throat-scourging gulp.
“Don’t forget your promise.”
“I promised no shit. If I need to break some arms and legs, I will.”
“Always so delicate.” You roll your eyes.
“Tell me.”
“He got drunk.”
“That’s no fucking excuse.”
“I know. I know. It’s just… he’s nice, he really is, when sober, but I’d never seen him intoxicated like that, he turned into someone else. I found him at the bar around for bells and beg him to go back home, but he wasn’t there, I mean, not mentally, and anger with alcohol doesn’t go well together. He slapped me so hard I fell on my butt and scratched my hands.” You exhale for a pause and tip your head back. Your chin wobbles, crackling your voice. “We got home and as soon as the front door closed, he grabbed my hair and yanked me to the couch, not giving me time to recoil. Then, his hand was around my neck, and he towed me back on my feet. He said horrible things I don’t want to say…” you sniff, and run a hand down your face, tears and water trickle down your cheeks. “I… I was scared and helpless. I froze. He tore off my clothes and pushed me down on the couch. I wanted to scream, but I just couldn’t… then I saw him pulling his pants down…and…” You roll your head from side to side following the curve of the rim. “He was too drunk, it… didn’t work. You know… and when he left a gap open, I managed to escape.” You snort. “He lost his balance, fell and ended up snoozing in the middle of the living room.” You sob and rub a hand on your nose. “That’s it.” You look at him with glassy eyes. “Nothing happened.”
“Nothing happened?” He grinds his teeth, his chest heaves, smoldering with rage.
“Levi.” Your hand lands on the back of his and squeezes it. “Just leave it.”
But he reels closer to you and settles his idle hand on your cheek, his warmth spreading, giving you a respite. The solace you needed, the first beam of sunlight caressing your face in a winter morning. A tear rolls down, and he wipes it away; you close your eyes and nuzzle against his palm.
“Tell me where he lives.” He seethes, and you shake your head.
“I don’t know where to find him, I don’t even want to find him.”
“If that piece of shit and I ever cross paths, I’m fucking gonna–“
He cuts his sentence when you turn your head away.
“Thank you, and sorry for not telling you before.”
“Don’t be.”
“I was scared.”
“I know.” He presses a feather-like kiss on your temple and whispers in your hair, “you know you can count on me, always. And you did the right thing.” He pulls away, and you give him a timid smile. A tiny blush creeps on your cheeks.
“You smell good,” you say. “You always do.”
“Tch.” He jerks his face away. A warm, annoying tingle crawls from his cheeks to his ears, and he can’t stop twiddling with his fingers.
“Look at me.”
He sighs, and his shoulders hunch. Tipping his chin up, he scratches a fake itch under his jaw and when he meets your face, only an inch away from his, steam oozes from his ears. His eyes pop and all his neurons freak out, looking for the emergency break. They better find it soon before his heart bangs to a halt, and his system collapses.
“I didn’t know you had freckles.” You chuckle, and he lets that pretty sound nest in his heart next to your laugh, and the way you roll his name on your tongue. Yes, he has a collection, and hopes one day to open a museum of you, maybe your smile should be at the beginning of the exposition.
You’re fucking pathetic, jerk.
His jittery lips part, but nothing comes out. His brain is a mesh that can’t string anything coherent. So close, yet so far. He can feel your breath fanning on his lips as you toy with his hair. But the tinge of self-restrain holds him down in place. If you knew he sometimes drink form your cup to get an idea of how you taste…
“Levi. Levi!” A finger snaps bursts before his face, and he blinks waking up from his reverie. “Wanna see me naked or what?”
“Yes! No! What?”
“My towel, dummy.” You point to the rack. “Could you hand it over and get out?” Levi groans and rake his fingers through his hair before getting on his feet. He snatches the towel from the nail and before you can thank him, the world turns off, blinded by the thick serviette.
Levi stomps to your room, kicking your clothes off the way, grunting, not for your carelessness but the strain against his pants. Maybe some sprints and push ups will divert blood to other tissues.
“Thank you.” You sarcastically remark as you dodge into the room, your arms popping out of the sleeves of your oversized white T. “At least a corner was left dry.” You pad to your vanity, while a flustered Levi averts his eyes, trying to focus on something else rather than your legs. Why did you pick those tiny shorts? “You’re too slow.” He retorts and plops face down on your bed, hiding the scorching blush and his growing erection.
You unclip the pins, and your mane unfurls over your shoulders like a warp and weft that traps the bristles of your brush. You grumble, losing the fight.
“Give me that!” The blurry edges of his face smooth down on the mirror, and surly, you hold the brush over your shoulder.
“Start by the ends.” You perch your feet at the edge of the chair and wind your arms under your knees.
“Brat.”
He catches your scowl through the mirror and sticks out the tongue. Smoothly and silkily, his fingers slip through your untangled curls, and as he reaches the middles, you can feel him grazing your scalp with gossamer strokes; it’s lulling, and eventually you begin dozing off. Your weariness sinks into a sigh, and your eyelids give up. “You feel good, Levi.” In another context, he would’ve exploded right there. He cranes closer, too close to imbibe the fading strawberries and rosemary of your shampoo.
“Levi.”
“Uh?”
“When were you planning to tell me?” You mumble.
He tilts his head, and a querulous look etches in his brows.
“Tell you what?”
You’ve been putting it up for weeks, afraid that the answer might break your heart, and it hurts too that your best friend can’t confide his love life to you. What are best friends for then?
You open your eyes, and they stumble upon his.
“I mean…” You trail, take a deep breath, and spew it. Either he plucks the thorn, or he hammers it deeper. “Who is she? Do I know her?”
“Who are you talking about?”
“I saw the ring. It wasn’t my intention, I sweat.” You raise your palms in the air and hurl them down again. “I was looking for a candle in one of your drawers and found it… She’s lucky.” You blush at that, hating yourself for exposing your green-eyed monster. You have no right, yet you couldn’t help it.
“Are you jealous?” His snort and smirk feed your irritation, you set your lips into a thin line, and hide your face in your knees. “There’s no she, Y/N.” He sets the brush down.
“Is it a he?” Your head lurches up, and you stare at him wide eyed.
“What?”
“What?”
“There’s no one.” He huffs and flicks a finger on your temple.
“Ow!”
“Then–“
“It belonged to my mother.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah, oh. That’s what you get for sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.” He plants a kiss where he had just hit you, swivels around and scuffs to the door, but you don’t follow him.
“Not having dinner?” He casts a look over his shoulder and takes his hand off the knob.
“I’m more tired than hungry.” You traipse to the bed without bothering to muzzle a yawn, stretching your arms over your head. “I think I’m sleeping twelve hours straight.” The mattress sags under your weight, your legs bent, knees pointing upward. The flannel of your shorts rumple at where your thighs fuse to the curve of your butt.
Nibbling on his lip, Levi shoves his hands into his pockets and curls them into fists, making more room to alleviate the repression. “I have work to do,” he says, rocking on his heels and gazing down.
“No.”
“Uh?”
Maybe he should stop uh-ing.
“Stay.” You turn your head in his direction. “I’ll help you with paperwork tomorrow. Please.”
“Do you want me to stay?” His chin is tucked against his chest, only his eyes rise, and you prop yourself on your elbows.
“I do.”
“Isn’t it too early to go to bed?”
You shrug. “We could just lie here.” You shift your weight up and make room for him in your single bed. “I hope you don’t mind sharing pillow.”
A weak smile peeks on his lips as he shakes his head. You fling the covers; he scuffs off his shoes and crawls in, wriggling himself until your shoulders touch.
Your sheets smell like you.
Specks of dust dance on the golden glow creeping through the window. The room is warm, and silence hovers over, giving way to the soft murmur of the breeze and your steady breathing.
“Wake me up at eight.” You nudge his foot with your toe. “I’ll bridge the gap to dinner with a nap.” Your hands thread on your belly, and you close your eyes. “Levi, you’re a great friend.” You say.
A stab right in the chest would’ve been less painful.
He slips a hand beneath his head, his cotton-clad feet swinging in and out, wishing it was more than your shoulders touching. He wants to touch you everywhere. Everywhere. His ears are in flames.
Stop thinking with your dick, asshole.
“Levi, are you awake?” You whisper.
“Uh-huh.”
“I can’t sleep.”
“Me neither.”
“You hardly do.”
“I know, but this time it’s different.” Usually, it’s the fear to see death in his dreams that keeps him awake; but this is the first time in years he can’t sleep out of excitement, the last time, his mother brought cake for his birthday.
“It’s hard…when a pretty girl is lying by your side.” He coyly says.
“What’s hard?”
“Sleep, but that’s not the only thing hard right now.”
“Are you stoned? Or did you catch a brain eating bacteria?” You elbow him on the arm.
“What?”
“You called me pretty, didn’t you? And you said you’re having an erection.”
“Yeah.” He scratches his head. “I think I did.”
“It just doesn’t make sense! The nicest thing you’ve ever said to me is that my lashes look like your horse’s. What did they put in your drink?” Your head is turned facing his. But a scowl grazes his features; he clicks his tongue and rolls over, his back facing you. “Leave me alone.” He grunts.
“This is my bed, Levi.” Your fingertips languidly pat your sternum. You want to reach out for him, kiss his head, snuggle your face and smell his hair, or taste it. So black it must be liquorice flavored. His eyebrows and eyelashes too. He’s recoiled in a fetal position, trying to capture and burn the butterflies in his belly. You don’t know what a sweet torture it is like when you roll his name in your tongue. The way you honey it. You’ve been using it too much today.
“Levi.”
There it goes again.
“I want to kiss you.”
Luckily you can’t see the stupid face he pulls out. He nuzzles in his bit of pillow, and his voice comes out in a hardly decoding slur. “I want to kiss you too.” But for you is loud and clear, or maybe is what your brain wants to hear.
“Why don’t we?” Your hands clutch into fists, and all your body tenses. One little question, harmless for others, might ruin what you have built. Years of friendship slipping through the gaps of your fingers like water. You chew the inside of your cheek and turn over on your side, bracing for his reaction.
The mattress slumps and wavers under his weight, and when his nose bumps with yours, a quiet contentment spreads through your chest. Tea lingers in his shaky breath, and a trembling hand flies to your cheek, he studies your eyes and this time you don’t hate it, instead, the vail falls, you open the door.
His steel gray orbs glint, white flecks dancing on them like stars glittering on the lake; his heart bangs in his chest as if it’d eventually breach out to meet yours.
The edges of your world narrow to his silhouette.
Nothing else matters.
An invisible blanket of mutual adoration wraps around you.
It’s you and him and the mingle of vanilla, black tea and lavender.
In a flick, his eyes land on your lips, you’re moistening them in anticipation, and in a wordless agreement, you both slowly lean in, watching each other’s reaction until your mouths lock for the first time in an awkward, bumbling peck. You don’t even close your eyes; you don’t know what to do with your hands, they’re clinging to the hem of your shorts, expecting. But his eyes close first as his lips hover over yours, tender and shy like a preteen kissing his crush for the first time. And it’s perfect. You pull apart and clasp his cheeks in your hands, letting out a string of giddy giggles; he laughs too, his cheeks suffused with an impossible red that contrasts against his pallor. His freckles get lost in the blobs of sheepishness. It’s an alien feeling to him, to let someone in this far. But he loves the tickling in is stomach and hands, the lightness in his chest, and the warmth grazing his cheeks. It’s frightening and beautiful.
“That was awful.” You quip.
“I know, but we can try again.”
And you bring his face to yours as his hands make their way to your waist and pull your closer to his body. Your lips crash, and this time they mold and move in a sloppy, teeth-clashing, perfectly imperfect kiss.
And it feels right.
But your body craves more.
Panting, you reel away, and your hands slide to his chest, drinking the reckless beat of his heart through the weave.
“I want… I want to touch more of you, Levi.” You coo, blushing, as your fingers traipse to the first button.
“I want more than touching you.” He breathes.
“Is that you trying to say you want to fuck me?”
He grins. “I tried to be decent, but yes. I’m glad you grasped the idea. But… we don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.”
All you want is to make love to him.
You feel his thumbs stroking your hipbone over the clothes, “Just kiss me now before I change my mind.”
Men asking for consent makes them one hundred times hotter. You want to curl against him, to mold with him like the Valdaro lovers you read about. As wicked as it sounds.
You open his shirt and run your palms over his chest and abs, muscles rippling under your touch. “You’re so good, Levi.” You say without taking your lusty eyes of his sculpted body, stealing a snort form him.
“Stop objectifying me.”
“I’m not.” You trace his edges and ridges, the scars etched on his skin. “A little, yes.”
You feel him tugging at your shirt. “So…” One eyebrow climbs up. “Can I?”
A chuckle bubbles out your mouth, putting a coyly smile on your lips as you seek another kiss. A gasp melts in your mouth as your daring hand caresses him over his clothes. How can he think with all his blood mustered down there?
You peel off by a fraction and look him in the eye. “Yes Levi, you have my permission to–“
He cuts you with a kiss and tears away from you. “Should I close the windows?” His voice comes out huskier than ever, and you thought it couldn’t get hotter. His notes and waves ripple straight to your core.
“No,” you say, skimming his chest. “I want to see you.”
“Great.” Another smirk creeps on his lips. Great, because he too wants to see how he disappears in your body. He hisses by picturing it; all the nights he thought about you in indecent ways.
He brings his lips to your ear, but what has been pricking his heart for years doesn’t come out.
“What?” you venture, tracing an invisible line along the bridge of his nose.
“Nothing.”
“Now you have me intrigued.”
“You’re beautiful.” He lightly pinches your cheek between his knuckles while his other hand sneaks under your shirt, breaking goosebumps, and shivers on your skin.
You flinch.
“You don’t like that?”
You shake the head. “I’m just nervous.”
“Me too.” He confesses. “If you want to stop, just tell me.”
You tug at the collar of his shirt and urge him. “Take this off.”
He laughs and tows himself up into a sitting position, and so you do. Levi has a pretty laugh, and you wish you could hear it more often.
Levi shrugs his shirt off, and you slip off yours as well, rumpling it before your breasts, blushing hard and looking away. It’s not the first time a man sees you naked, but before him, you feel more self-conscious.
He scoots closer so your knees are touching, and you snap your face back at him. His hands fondling your shoulders. “Let me see you,” he whispers and brushes your hair off. Adrenaline, fear, desire rushing through your veins, sizzling your fingers and toes, and you finally drop the meddlesome piece of fabric.
You want him to see you. To discover you; to choose you; to reinvent you.
“You’re beautiful.” He coos.
You feel his scorching fingertips striding down past your collarbones, still hesitating, but you take his hands in yours and guide him to your breasts. “Touch me.” Your words teeter in your mouth. You let him explore by himself and close your eyes, your hands anchored to his waist. He strokes gently as if you were the most delicate china set, afraid to hurt you.
Soft moans seep past your lustrous lips as he rolls and tweak your nipples in his fingers. Your head falls backward, and through leaden eyes you cast a glance at him, smiling, and he smiles back. Ruby hues tinting his cheeks.
Heartbeats bang behind your ears. The itching in your neck, a pang of pudency across your chest, teeth sinking in your bottom lip; sweaty hands, reckless mind, nails raking his waist.
“Levi.” You moan his name as he takes one pebbled nipple in his mouth, and that sound goes straight to his private collection. He laves and sucks and nibbles while his fingers pepper the other nub, he will never grow tired of cajoling those pretty sounds.
A string of drool snaps, smearing his chin as he goes for the other nipple, and the air feels cool, crashing against the glistening one. “Levi,” Your back arches, begging for more. You roll your hips to nothing with unbridled eagerness, and he chuckles, draping his arms around you, nuzzling his face between your breasts, pushing you down on your back. The bulge in his pants strains against you indecorously, and he rocks his hips, seeking alleviation. “Fuck, this is how hard you get me.” He groans and press a kiss on your chin.
You love it, you love being desire this bad.
His skin melting with yours, your hearts beating with the same frenzy.
“Let’s do something about it then.” You shove your fingers through his hair and tip his face to meet his eyes.
“I want to taste you first.” You can feel his fingers tracing the waistline of your shorts; one anchors to the hem, dragging it back and forth, waiting for your reaction. “I bet you’re damn wet already.”
“Why don’t you find out?” Your fingertips caress his temples.
“You’re gonna make me come in my pants.”
“How old are you?”
“Shut up.”
You raise your hips, and with a quick move, he pulls your bottoms down. He kneels, slips them off your feet and toss them away. Damn. He feels a twitch under his pants; damn, he can’t take his eyes off you. The musk and sweetness of your scent is driving him mad like a man who has fasted for months. He plants a kiss on your knee and wedges between your legs.
He kisses you as if his purpose were to tear off your lips, moans, whimpers and groans coalescing in your mouths you can’t tell whose is whose. He breaks apart and blesses your eyelids, your nose and your cheeks, kisses trailing down from your ear to your chin. He wants to pitch his flag in every inch of your skin. Your hands; he kisses the tip of each finger, pampers your arms, your shoulders, your chest, the valley between your breasts, your navel, your mound. He spreads your knees and kisses the crease where your legs meet your hips, your thighs, tickles spreading across your flesh as he goes down, your shins and calves, your ankles, and heels to the tip of your toes. Then his hands roam to the back of your knees. He yanks your legs over his shoulders, and you watch him, parting your folds with his tongue, making your jaw drop with a moan.
Like cats, people look for dark, vailed places to have sex, but you choose to do it in plain daylight when the late afternoon sun still percolates through the windows. You didn’t want to miss any details, like the creases on his forehead or the way his eyes are black instead of gray.
“What?” He sweeps his tongue along his dewy lips.
You prop on one elbow. “You look pretty.” You say, swinging your head kittenishly, and taking a piece of his hair between your fingers. “Le–“ His name is sheared by gasp, and your eyes close to slivers. His tongue probing around the hood.
“You look prettier like that.” His lips curve against your slit and he continues savoring you as if you were the ripest peach. The view obscenely beautiful. He doesn’t even take his eyes off you, reading every reaction. Your dull eyes, your parted lips, your erratic breathing, and the way your chest rises and falls, the muscles across your belly twitching, sweat pampering your cheeks. You plop back and clutch fistfuls of the sheets, your knuckles white and tensed as his tongue and lips work wonder, you can feel it building in your core, your entrance clenching, begging to be filled, and that’s when the tension snaps. Your hips lurch up and still.
No one has ever made you feel so light, no one has ever put your pleasure first.
His weight hovers over your body. His tongue coaxes his entrance to your mouth, muskiness and sweetness bristling up your taste buds.
You squeeze his butt, and he reels away. “Take your pants off,” you mutter. “Fuck me. Now.” Kiss. “I need you.” He looks so beautiful, his rosy-tinted cheeks, his heavy-lidded eyes, the shine on his lips, the way he gazes down at you as if you were the most precious thing worth of her own temple.
He leaps of the bed and kicks his pants off, sighing in relief. Yes, everything in Levi is beautiful, beautiful. He’s built like a god. That holy V-line pointing down, the thin line of hair crawling down from beneath his bellybutton, and that pretty cock. Thick, reddish and throbbing… He takes himself in a hand, and you make grabby hands and puppy eyes. Chuckling, he crawls back to the bed, making room for himself between your legs.
“I want your cock in my pussy.” You rake your fingers down his chest. You should consider write poetry. So blatant and effective like him. When you spend a big part of your day everyday next to someone, you start learning them and adopting some of their traits. Molding them for you.
“I still remember when you couldn’t say shit without getting all flustered?”
“Levi, I’m not in the mood to talk about shit.” Your fingers burrow in his butt and squeeze, pulling him toward you, but he doesn’t move an inch. “Please.” You flit your lashes and smile, bucking your hips to chase him, but he jerks back.
“Don’t be an ass, Levi. You fucking want it too.” Your hands sweep up, taking in the squirm of his muscles, and meet behind his neck, your thumbs stroking the spots under his ears. “I don’t have as much self-restrain as you do.” He leans and kisses you, stealing a gasp as he positions himself, you can feel him poking around your entrance, and your brace for it. Moans mingle in the kiss as he pushes forward, reveling in the tightness, in the warmth and in you. He wants to feel every inch swaddling him, how good you take him. You’re trembling, not because of pain, no; it is because of the way your body molds for his. And when he can’t go any further, he stills. His staggered breaths brushing the pulsing spot on your neck.
“I can’t believe I’m in love with you.” His voice crackles between syllables as if he’s been tucking those words for so long and finally manages to take them out of the chest. When the world turned its back on him, you were the haven of the possible. You knew how to caress him until it didn't hurt, and you stayed by his side those nights when he wished he could sleep and never wake up. You taught him about slow love, you accompanied him through the sadness, one day at a time. And one ordinary day became extraordinary. The day he understood that he loved you. That you had slipped through the cracks in his heart and stayed forever. He never kicked you out. And he will never let you go. If he weren't a coward, that piece of crap would've never hurt you. That same day, he delved into the drawer of nostalgies, grab the necklace that once belonged to his mother and cast it. The moon-shaped pendant gave way to a ring in which he kept all the hope of someday losing his fear and being able to slip it on your finger.
You lie there, wide-eyed and limp, tears swelling in your bottom lash line as you process what you just heard. Levi… Levi is in love with you.
He holds himself up on his elbows, and concern mixed with embarrassment spreads in his eyes. He clears his throat. “This is where you laugh, and I say it was a joke.” You shake your head, your hands curving to his waist.
“If it was a joke, I’ll kill you. Because I feel the same way, Levi.” All your fears to say those words dwindle. “I love you too.” tickles in the tip of your tongue.
The corners of his lips quirk up. His mouth locks on yours before you can see the tears forming in his eyes, and he starts to move. Patient and yearning with every thrust. So, this is what it feels like to love, to have sex with more than just your body. You long to fuse with him, for your skin to melt with every crease of him, your sweat and his sweat brewing ambrosia. You drink his scent, something like sandalwood blended with bergamot.  Your fingers trickling down his back like soft drops of rain.
His face separates from you by a wedge, his fingers trailing down your jaw until they perch on your chin. He rocks his hips faster, and mutters against one corner of your lips, “you deserve no less than this.” Your legs wrap around his waist, imprisoning him, “nothing less.”
Squeezing tight your eyes, your face turns to the side, your nails barking red lines down his back. Your walls flutter around him, wringing out a groan from his lips. Your body arches against him, and his name breaks past your lips in a loud moan.
“I’m… too,” he mutters as he tries to pry your leg off him, but you only tighten your hold. “Fuck Y/N.” He hisses. His eyes twitch, his nose scrunches. You always wonder what his orgasm face looked like. You thought he’d roll his eyes.
He pushes in one last thrust, still swaddled by the cloud of pleasure, oblivious to the potential consequences. And when it disintegrates, his eyes fill with apprehension.
“You sure?” He worriedly pants, and you nod.
“It’s ok.”
His hair is tickling your face. But you can’t stop looking at him. Your eyes always follow him, no matter what trivial thing he’s doing. You could be a fly on his wall to look at him every day.
“Say it again, Levi.”
“What?”
“That you love me.”
“But I already said it,” he groans and falls at your side. You roll onto your belly, fold your hands on his chest and roost your chin on them. Your knees bend so that your heels almost touch your lovely ass. “I want to hear them again.”
It was easier when pleasure was buzzing beneath his skin.
He turns his head away and tucks a hand beneath his nape, “Love you.” He spews plainly.
You frown. “Say it like you mean it. Look at me and say it again.”
“Tch.” His finger brush circles on your shoulder. “Clear your ears cause I’m not repeating myself.” He flicks his eyes to you. “Our names are carved in the ring.”

the final daily lacuna snippet
buckle up bitches time for chapter 11, the princess. it’s the last one and I’m not about to spoil the WHOLE thing but I’ll give yall a long one.
Keelan stumbles out of the alley and sits on the curb with his head between his knees. His breathing is too fast, something that Annie the bartender has a fancy word for, but he definitely can't be bothered to remember it now. His fingertips tingle and go numb, his head spinning.
It had to have been Birdie. It couldn't have been anyone else. She was older, a young woman and not the child she had been when he saw her last, when he tucked her into her bed with a promise to keep her safe. She survived and grew up and returned, but not to her home.
He's failing at convincing himself that there is a single good reason for her to be with the two most wanted criminals in the city. They'd clearly known her, trusted that she would protect them. She is alive. She is on friendly terms with at least one mass murderer and a serial thief.
He can still hear her tripled voice— "when thieves steal for honor" —he can still feel her hanging off one of his arms.
Levi hadn't killed her—he'd managed to hide her from Maura for years. Why? What had he told her, taught her?
She hadn't recognized him at all. Maybe Levi used memory spells to erase him. Maybe he erased more than that.
"Sir?" One of his soldiers is standing next to him, expression nervous. "Our team completed another sweep of the—"
"Get away from me," Keelan forces out through gritted teeth, "or I swear to Leyna I will gut you like a fish."
The soldier is gone in an instant.
Birdie had disappeared in an instant, in the blink of an eye the way Levi had all those years ago. What else had he taught her?
He is on his feet, walking towards the castle.
Levi had always been obsessed with Birdie's visions, and the prophecy. The one that supposedly predicts Maura's death. And now Birdie is in hiding with thieves somewhere in Morbhard, alive but not coming to tell her sister that. He is not a scholar, but he can connect those dots himself.
He's reached the castle gates. The guard is sending someone out to meet him—he drew the short straw, by Keelan's guess, since he is pale and sweaty when he reaches Keelan. "Captain O’Leyne. You are still banned from—"
"I'm not on castle grounds, so you can spare me the speech." His feet are firmly planted on the cobblestoned road. "I have to speak with the queen immediately."
"Queen Maura—"
Keelan's hand closes around the knife in his belt and the guard quickly backtracks, looking distinctly like he's going to throw up. "Her Majesty has ordered us to turn you away if you come to speak with her."
Keelan grinds his teeth. "Then bring her a message from me."
"Sir Keelan—Captain O'Leyne, I really can't—"
"This is too important for you to get in my way," Keelan hisses, taking a step towards the cowering guard. "You'll deliver a message to the queen for me. You'll tell her that I saw..." He hesitates, suddenly acutely aware of the people walking by, the nearby market, the gutter children collecting pieces of gossip for men like him and Jack. "Tell her I saw the duckling. She'll know what it means."
"Captain O'Leyne." The guard's gaze is fixed somewhere over Keelan's shoulder. "If I disobey orders—"
"If you do not deliver this message, I will be the least of you worries," Keelan says, getting up in the guard's face now. "This is of immediate and utmost importance. It concerns the queen's safety. If you fail to deliver this message, or even if you fail to tell the queen that you saw me, she will find out. I suspect she'll be very angry." He reaches up to scratch the skin under his dead eye. "Do you know what she does when she's angry?"
He sees a small wet spot appear on the guard's trousers. If he was still in charge of the royal guard, he would kill the man for a coward. The guard tells him to wait and he watches him sprint up the front path through the bars of the gate.
Keelan's gaze lifts to the castle towers. He wonders where Maura is, what she's doing. Will the guard interrupt a session of the court? Likely not, there aren't enough liveried servants loitering outside the gates. Perhaps she'll be in the library, studying her spells and curses. She never liked to be interrupted when she was in the library. He wonders if the same guard will even come back.
One of his soldiers finds him after a while and gives him an update on the search for the thieves. Unsurprisingly, they've vanished without a trace. Keelan considers telling him about Birdie, but he doesn't want to do it before telling Maura.
Would she read his memories to see if it was really her?
He sends away the guard with instructions to continue the search and double their efforts and men in the lakeside district.
The coward is returning. The wet spot on his trousers is just a bit larger. Keelan doesn't dare walk forward onto castle grounds until he knows what the man is going to say. He reaches Keelan and clears his throat. "The queen has lifted your banishment." Weight lifts from Keelan's chest that he can't believe he has been living with. "She awaits you in the throne room. I am to escort you—"
"I know the way."
He brushes past the guard and goes home.
The hedges are overgrown, long branches reaching out onto the path at random intervals. There is no one to open the doors for him, and the hinges groan when he pushes through. A few maids scurry through the corridors, but there are no others to stop and gawk as the Knight of Lacuna Lake returns home. His footsteps echo up into the vaulted ceilings, where dusty chandeliers hang half-lit as if someone had pulled them up before they were ready.
The throne room doors swing open easily at his touch.
Maura is sitting alone, her head resting on one hand as she watches him approach. Her favorite green dress hangs off her ribs a bit, as if she'd done the lacing herself. There are deep, dark circles under her eyes and lines around her mouth hardened by years of sorrow and rage. Half the chandeliers are lit and she hasn't raised most of the curtains, bathing the room in shadow.
Her eyes dart to the door behind him. He stops at the base of the steps up to her throne. Her gaze returns to him and she clears her throat. "The guard was meant to escort you."
Keelan takes a deep breath. "He's a coward. I would have him killed for it."
The corner of her mouth twitches. "You've risked much to return here, Sir Keelan."
He kneels. "My queen. I had to tell you immediately. I saw...I saw something in the market."
"Yes." He looks up to see her knuckles whiten on the arms of the throne. "The guard said something about a duckling."
"It's her." He can't stay on his knees, can't hold himself back. He is on his feet and halfway up the stairs, his hands itching to reach for her. "I—I don't know how, but it's Birdie. Those eyes..." He's caught in Maura's silver gaze, tears welling up in those same eyes. "I could never mistake those eyes."
He doesn't think he knows how to read her anymore, but he does recognize the way her fingers touch the empty space on her left hand. "Do you...what kind...what was she doing? Who was she with?"
He blinks. "I...I don't know where to start." He hesitates a step from the top. "Do you..." He puts one finger to his temple. "Aren't you going to...?"
Her face falls a bit, different emotions flashing across. "No. Not—I swore I would never..." She grips her left finger. "Not without..." A shaky inhale, her eyes unreadable. "Not unless you want me to."
He thinks of the servants and others that he's watched her curse over the years. The golden light that pours out of their faces. "Does it...does it hurt?"
Maura looks away. "I don't actually know."
He thinks of how her healing spells taste of sweet pea. He remembers the warmth of the golden light that comforted him in the Black Cell. He takes the final step up to her throne. "You can read my mind, if you...you can do it."
"Only if you want." Her eyes burn through him. "Never again unless you want me to."
He inhales sharply, the scars on his chest burning. "I...I want you to."
She rises to her feet and his nose is filled with her perfume. She is so close and his hands are begging to hold her, but instead he stands stock still as she lifts trembling hands to his face. "If it...if it hurts, I'll stop."
He nods and she presses her fingers to his temples.
Golden light fills his vision.
He is eight years old, standing at the front of the chapel in Leyne, evening light shining through the stained-glass windows.
He feels it more than he hears it—Maura's voice, somewhere in the back of his head.
Too far back.
He is fourteen, sword in his hand as he walks away from his burning house, bloody feet leaving footprints in the dust.
It's almost like a nudge, Maura's presence in his head. She sifts through his memories like the pages of a book, searching for the right moment.
She finds him in the market, hearing the squire announce the opening in the city guard. He looks up from his groceries and sees her in her green dress, standing across the crowded square.
He sees her as he leaves the burning flat on Amber Road, sees her as he walks into the city guard headquarters, he sees her standing behind Jack in the lakeside market.
There.
He watches it happen again, sees Birdie appear and disappear in slow motion. The edges are faded, but Birdie is clear as day. Her eyes burn through him, even just as a memory.
Maura steps away from him, her eyes wide. "You think she's here to kill me."
"I don't." He looks away. "I don't know."
"You were right." She presses her fingers to her forehead, sitting heavily in her throne again. "You're right, Levi was always obsessed with the prophecy. He'll have raised her for that very purpose."
"Maybe it's something else."
Her mouth quirks. "Maybe Lacuna Lake isn't bottomless."
The quirk fades and she sinks into thought, her nose scrunching as she stares at the royal seal in the stonework. Keelan puts a shaking finger to his temple, trying to see if there is any warmth left over.
“When you read someone's mind...” he says slowly, and Maura's eyes flick to him with more than a little anxiety.
“It's less like reading and more like watching,” she says cautiously.
He thinks of her standing in the background of his memories, her silver eyes piercing through him. “You could see what I was thinking after I saw Birdie...is that normal? To see what they thought?”
She hums, tracing patterns idly on the arm of her throne. “I get more of a sense of what the person was feeling in the moment. Sometimes thoughts pass through, if they were particularly important in the moment.”
He stares down at her, her words registering slowly. “So you can feel what they felt?”
Her eyes are guarded. “Yes, wh—”
He grabs her hands and presses them to his temples, meeting her eyes fiercely. “Read my memories. Every one that you can find.”
“What are—”
“I never lied to you,” he says, and her eyes fill with tears. “I would never lie to you. I want you to know that. I need you to know that. Read my memories, every single one that you are in, and know that I never lied. I loved you the day I saw you and I have loved you every day since. Send me away again, cut out my other eye, I will crawl back blind and begging. I will always love you, Maura. No matter what.”
She tries to pull her hands away but he holds them firmly, her fingers pressed to his temples. “Keys, please.”
“I will ask nothing more of you,” he says quietly. “You said you wouldn't do it unless I wanted you to. I am begging you to. If you only feel an ounce of the love I have for you, it would be enough. I need you to know that I never lied.”
She inhales shakily, and he lets go of her hands. She doesn't lower them from his temples, but her thumb touches the corner of his dead eye. “I don't...I don't know if I can...”
“Please, Maura,” he whispers. “Please.”
The golden light fills his vision again. He is standing in the throne room for the first time, his eyes caught on the golden princess in her throne. He is sitting in the gardens, his sword forgotten in the grass as her laughter chases away the ghosts. He is seventeen, spinning around her in the ballroom as she laughs and he falls harder and harder. He is in the Black Cell, grasping her golden light as his only salvation. He is next to her in the theater, holding her hand in the safety of the royal box as she rests her head on his shoulder. He is holding her against him in the throne room, feeling her fluttering heartbeat through his shirt. He is standing before her with his knife in his hands and his blood on his face but he is only thinking if this is enough, if this will make her believe him, if he has finally broken the last remaining piece of light in his life. He is exhausted at his desk, marking up a city map in the hopes that he'll find the thief and go home soon. He is standing before her again, his heart breaking as he sees the pain she is in. He is in love.
She yanks away from him like he burned her, her eyes welling up with tears. She won't meet his gaze, hers fixed firmly on her hands instead. She sinks back into her throne.
“I never lied,” he murmurs, reaching to catch her hand. She doesn't shake him off, just slips her fingers into his, and it gives him the courage to keep going. “I...I don't know what I did wrong, Maura, but I never stopped loving you.”
She inhales shakily, her gaze darting up to his missing eye. “You didn't...I need to tell you some things.”

First Take: Shazam!: Fury of the Gods - one in, all in
SYNOPSIS: Two years on from the events of the original film, Billy Batson and his band of foster kids turned superheroes take on a new enemy - the Sisters of Atlas - as only they know how
We all remember where we were on that weekend in 2019. You know the one. I was in a radio studio at UCLan reviewing the first Shazam film, and bigging up DC’s latest combobreaker at the time- a lot has happened since then, as we have waited for the sequel to arrive. After a lengthy delay, partly due to Covid, but mostly due to the restructure currently underway at DC’s film department (spearheaded by James Gunn), it is finally here. And sadly it just isn’t quite as playful as the first one was.
youtube
David F Sandberg returns to helm this sequel, and coming in at 2 hours 10 minutes, it packs a lot in to a relatively short runtime (for this kind of film), but like with a lot of DC’s output lately, it doesn’t know which kind of film it wants to be - sure, the light nature of the first one is still there, but the script from Henry Gayden and long-time Fast and Furious writer Chris Morgan takes the ‘Shazamily’ to darker places, ones which could be worthy of 15 certificates rather than 12s, but sadly the key problem it has is with the predictable plot. We have literally seen all of this story before- luckily it passes the 6 laugh test, which is all you can ask for with a movie of this nature. As for the other technical aspects, Gyula Pados’ cinematography is great, and taking over scoring duties is Christophe Beck - a man who knows how to score a film like this.
Tumblr media
The cast are brilliant though, with Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Grace Caroline Currey, Ross Butler, Ian Chen, DJ Cotrona, Jovan Armand, Meagan Good and Faithe Herman all returning as the heroes and kids respectively, and joining them this time round is a real triple threat of Lucy Liu, Dame Helen Mirren, and last year’s breakout star (and hot off the heels of working with Spielberg) Rachel Zegler as the sisters of Atlas. It is mega obvious that they all had a lot of fun on set, especially when it comes to certain major plot points, but with the wider DC reset looming, just where will the Shazam franchise lie in Mr Gunn’s priorities? Only time will tell.
THE VERDICT
It feels like the sheer amount of delays have hit the momentum of this franchise - we’ve seen lots of these kinds of sequels, especially with some of the ‘connect the dot’ plot points we have in this film, but it’s ultimately gonna break even, which is all Warner are fussed about at the minute. Whether DC can return to the absolute height of their power (like last year’s The Batman did) all hinges on The Flash now.
RATING: 3/5

7 All-time Fashion Trends from CPHFW Spring/Summer
Tumblr media
Another season of Copenhagen Fashion Week has officially come to an end, and it seems that everyone feels newsworthy in this city. It might be because it's a younger fashion week than the others, so we are seeing it develop and find its niche, or maybe it's because new talent keeps popping up and being supported. The Spring/Summer 2023 collection made a statement about robust craftsmanship and beauty with an eye for detail. P.L.N. will be a designer to watch because of great casting and daring ideas. Copenhagen Fashion Week's sustainability effort, which mandates that all designers on the calendar meet production guidelines, provides a solid foundation for designers seeking to participate as the event broadens and increases its presence on a worldwide scale. In conjunction with TikTok and Ukrainian Fashion Week, where Ukrainian designers T.G. Botanical and COAT debuted their Spring/Summer collections, Copenhagen Fashion Week expanded this season. The emphasis on quality and durability is also seen in the fashion week trends. Following are five timeless trends from the Copenhagen Fashion Week runways this season: 1 . Redefining Gray We've seen enough gray, although it may appear like fashion is trending toward louder, better, designers like Sophia Roe at The Garment and Skall Studio are urging us to hold off on switching out our go-to gray pants for hot pink ones. It's important to style them appropriately with a relaxed white tank top. Think about wearing a tiny gray dress as an alternative to the little black dress. 2. A New Lens on Classics Consider layered denim jackets that are sleek and cropped, curved-shoulder trench coats, and white poplin shirts that aren't actually white poplin shirts at all! You can still be creative even though they are classics. They still have numerous ways to be worn. It all comes down to using your imagination while styling it. 3. Denim on Denim Despite the heat wave, double (or triple) denim was a favorite among street stylers. It appears that designers were informed as well. Denim on denim comes in many forms, as you can see below, but Ganni's collaboration with Levi's is going to be extremely popular. 4. Laced Up The focus of OpéraSPORT's presentation was on dresses, tops, and skirts with tie accents, while A.Roege Hove's knitwear line used ties with subtly placed yet extra-long laces. The ability to wear ties-included garments in a variety of ways is a major advantage. 5. Sheer Genius Designers are coming up with innovative ideas to manufacture cool apparel as heat waves sweep over Europe this year. Thankfully, sheer head-to-toe is moving well beyond chiffon and tulle and into a realm of comfort and ease. Options range from knits that offer covering with subtle designs and breathability to airy lacework that offers your outfit dimension and depth. 6. Y2K It was impossible to avoid the fashion swarm in Copenhagen's obsession with Y2K fashion. It resembled living in a Britney Spears music video at times. With low-slung waists, belly chains, layered dresses, and denim miniskirts, designers also drew inspiration from the time period. 7. Sparkle There was a fairly huge volume of sparkle fashion wear available given the variety of cargo trousers and casual attire on show. I saw many crystal crystal-dotted dresses walk the runways, but my fav was this one by Stine Goya. Read the full article

Kinktober Day 17: Solo Session
Tumblr media
"Kinktober request? Voyeurism & masturbating? Reader catching Levi masturbating in the shower or something, and just captivated by his soft moans and the sound of his hand working wonders. Just stands listens/watches while he cums?"
word count: 1400
tags: nsfw, levi x reader, modern AU
Remember! Levi hates art theft.
Tumblr media
Few were your opportunities to surprise him. Always in-tune to your being. Fully literate in your body language. Years together, you could count on one hand the times you had truly caught him off guard. It was why you immediately knew to make the most of your current situation.
Levi would have been able to see it coming - that giddiness in your arms as you pulled out your phone, that mischievous grin as you stared at the glass reflection - but that was the thing: a hundred miles away, he had no clue. No insight to the eager fingers that typed it, but only the text itself.
> Hey, honey. How are you?
Sleek black smartphone vibrated against granite countertop, the one on which he was chopping vegetables and kneading bread, preparing a dinner worthy of coming home to. Rolled-up sleeve freed his forearm up to his elbow which he used to lever the sink handle, thus rinsing his hands clean before grabbing his cell.
No one else he would rather hear from. His first instinct was to smile, but his second one came swiftly - holding that smirk back with a bite of his cheek. You were supposed to be on your way home by now - that, and the mild tone you took warned him: don’t get too excited too fast.
> Alright, what’s the matter?
Damn, he’s good.
Bags in the trunk. Seatbelt fastened. In the middle of queuing your tunes, you tabbed out to respond. Nearly an evil laugh as you lied with good intentions.
> Negotiations still haven’t concluded. I’m stuck here for a few more days, hopefully not more than a week, but we’ll see.
Despite your distance, you could sense both the belief and disappointment received on the other end: rubbing his forehead, a couple deep breaths, the considerable pause before those three bouncing dots.
> Idiots, huh?
The snide insult a distraction from his letdown, for a second, both of you were hiding truths from the other. A half-smile as you wrapped things up. After all, the longer you set up this surprise, the longer you delayed it.
> I’m sorry, babe. I’ll let you know when I’m coming home.
As you weaned him off, he found his hands moving especially fast to keep you for as long as he could. So suddenly cut off, so unexpectedly postponed - this yearning for you was unprecedented, constituting the rare triple text.
> I’ll call you tonight. > Be safe. > I love you.
Your hand instinctively flinched for the phone, reciprocating that I love you as you always would, but if your GPS read accurately, you would be able to do it in person in just under an hour.
A flood of determination to repay those debts: the pancakes ready the second you woke up, those dozens of roses for no occasion, the home-cooked meal on the bad days he somehow sensed. Though he swore they were nothing really, to you, those little things that made up who he was - your everything. You owe him. Gas pedal floored. The hour-long drive, you made it in 45.
You could only imagine the reaction that awaited you. Passing familiar sights, your mind wandered all the more. If you woke him up from his nap, he would undoubtedly drag you down to that sofa with him and atop him. If you interrupted his dinner, he would surely sweep it aside and devour you instead.
Now just where have you been?
You think you’re so clever, don’t you?
Just couldn’t help yourself - had to come early, huh?
Welcome home, brat.
Sprightly yet sneaky as you anxiously rammed your key in the lock. Not wanting to make too much noise, yet unable to help yourself.
Just a few square feet away, he held that same feeling.
// // //
Door whipped open, your cheeks gradually tapered from their sky high. Total silence, so much so that you wondered if he had left the house. The closet at your side, though, held his jacket and shoes. The kitchen just in front of you displayed an onion half diced, a mound of raw dough, a faucet with an uncharacteristic leak - as though shut off haphazardly.
You expected to find him in the living room, napping on the couch, but he was not there. You tiptoed into your bedroom in pursuit of your second guess, reading a book on the bed, but found it empty and neatly made. What you did locate, though, was the last thing you would expect: the bathroom door opened just a tad, outlining its frame in a glow - a spotlight of sorts that begged for your attention and shed light on the situation.
Brows knit, eyes squinted, evidence began to piece things together. Levi never left the kitchen a mess, he never kept his doors ajar, and he never showers at night.
“Goddamn…”
From the other side of the door, he read and spoke your mind exactly. For even unconsciously, he was once again the one to surprise you.
// // //
And even with your supposed absence and separation, it was you who brought him to his knees.
Or so he imagined.
Silky hands, slow and loving, were the ones he fantasized. Calloused palm and rigid fingers, though, were the ones that held himself now. Angelic gasps and high-pitched screams would harmonize with his low groans and heavy pants. Tonight, though, a solo performance.
How opposite you were to him, his perfect complement, it became more and more pronounced with each repetition. That self-told lie less and less believable by the second.
Levi's current state void of his usual composure: vulnerable, helpless, succumbing. Without you here to tether his reins, the clean freak’s mind turned filthier by the day. Without you here to spend the night with him, there was only way he knew to keep from cumming in his sleep - not that this was much more dignified.
Brows furrowed, a frustrated grunt. Eyelashes fluttered, water dripped from them. Bangs slicked to his forehead intercepted his gaze. Wet tresses on his nape sent shivers down his spine. Scars at his shoulders, dug before you left, stung in the soapy water, drawing hisses through barred teeth.
“Shit,” Levi cursed, “oh, fuck…” brisk tone thawing as he sang your name.
Next was the curl of his toes - a squeak and a slosh audible against acrylic floor. Buckling at his knees, threatening to dismantle him even further. A warmth throughout both legs, both comforting yet incinerating. Rapid heartbeat. Lungs short on oxygen. Gasps grew shorter and sharper. Accompanying the heave in his chest was the familiar rhythm of flexes in his abdomen. His climax was turning inevitable - obvious to both you and himself - breaths made frantic and frustrated. No. Not yet. Not like this.
An endless wager this had been. A true battle of self in and of all senses. Hands ached to reach down there. Muscles twitched at every touch. With the increased presence of thoughts of you, the headspace for reasoning was pushed to the brim. Could he make it one more week? One more day? Tonight? This hour? This very pull?
“F’Fuck…!” Levi growled, “Oh, fuck me!!”
So ironic it was: how this was his last resort, how his patience had run out, how he was no longer able to wait - but was now trying to stave himself off. Deliberately delaying the release that had been deterred already, a deterrence he damned, it was just another way that you so delightfully fucked with him - no matter the distance.
He could practically hear you snickering, whispering in his ear, “Hah. Pathetic.” Little did he know, his imagination did not have to reach far for that one.
If only you were here right now.
// // //
Behind that door and behind that curtain, Levi began his slow comedown and comeback to reality. A shower that had served his purpose, but not its purpose. In case he needed a reminder of just how long you had been gone, the mess he painted himself with now gave a mocking reminder as to just how pent up he had been.
In the end, thankful for that opaque wooden door that separated you - for you were sure there was nothing else on earth that could have hidden the gleam on your face now. Not as certain, though, was what to do now?
There were two options as far as you could tell.
One, let him be. He had provided you a show and you were sure dinner to follow. Things would have gone as they always had: Levi would gift you again, you would feel indebted again.
But there was also option two. You could make your arrival known sooner rather than later. Slam that door flush against the wall, a stunning entrance, and take his breath away. Oh, what a mess you’ve made. You filthy thing… let’s get you cleaned up.
Maybe you would surprise him after all.

Demon Outfits Discussed
The wait is over :) thank you for your patience and all the lovely comments on the casual discussion!!
I feel like it got longer this time, so I hope it’s all an enjoyable read!  Also, I apologize for the ugly pictures--it was the easiest and fastest way to both have all the design in one image and also prevent it from stretching so far.
Like last time, please don’t take this too seriously; we love these boys and Justin doesn’t know them but has no grudges against them.  We’re just harping on their fashion sense.  Absolutely no hate is intended towards the boys or the design team!
Participants in the discussion were
Jo ( @jodaneko ), our art major with storyboarding/character design experience, who finds they have more in common with Satan each passing day.
Justin ( @justinlester0629 ), our fashion expert, who dressed up and filled a wine glass with water for the occasion.
Noodle (Me), our untrained eye who owns the Barbie as the Island Princess video game on three different platforms.  It’s not even that good.
Featuring emergency guest star Megan ( @maggo77 ), my sister who is physically near me as we look at the backs of their designs for the first time.
Edit: Distracted by the pretty jacket, we made a mistake when putting in Levi’s silhouette rating.  It’s the worst.  2/10, not 6.

“Short shoulder cape and a long split butt cape lol” —Jo
Jo has realized that based on both outfits, Lucifer doesn’t want people looking at his butt.  Possible reasons are: he doesn’t have one, or Diavolo someone was getting distracted.
His shoes match his outfit.  After last time that’s all I care about.
A triple popped color, and how many layers is the middle one?  Is that a book?  Dude has like 27 collars.
The forehead diamond is very important and it’s great that there are diamond buttons to match it.  But uh.  How about those red diamonds on his sleeves.  They.  They sure are there.  (I actually like the red accents and that they match his gloves; I just can’t take the diamonds seriously.)
Lucifer 🤝 Some Horses Diamond on the Forehead
The peacock motif is HERE and we’re all living for it.  HOWEVER, the feathers on the cape and coattails should have matched, OR there should have been more lime green because there’s so little of that color.
The pants have a pleat in the front, which Justin says means he responsibly irons his clothes, and Jo says only heightens the fact that under the capes this is a marching uniform.
Can he fly?  Jo says these are baby wings that can’t support his weight, and his cape has a hole for the top pair but blocks the bottom pair?  Can’t believe Lucifer handicapped himself for the sake of fashion.
The red makes it regal and the wide flowy design makes it imposing.  Good job, Lucifer!  I might actually be intimidated if I saw you.
Definitely the classiest outfit.  You can tell they put care into it.
Mammon:
Tumblr media
“BITCH MY BODY CANNOT TAKE THIS KIND OF SEXY, I THINK I AM OVERHEATING!  NO MORE FURTHER COMMENTS, YOUR HONOR.  HAUTE AND HOT.” —Justin
The whole thing does amazing with only three colors.  We’ve noticed the trend of black and white + one color, but I mean hey.  It’s working so far.
Damn those pants sit low.  No wonder literally all of you wear belts.
The leather jacket?  The studs and harness?  Bless.  Justin calls it “the perfect blend of stylish and ‘I’ll see you tonight *wink*’”.
Kind of don’t like how the belts connect to the pants, though.  It looks better in the back.
“He found a really cool jacket, but it didn’t pair with anything so he just didn’t wear anything.” —Jo
Honestly though?  We’ve all made fun of Mammon for having big hoe energy in his outfits, but like, he knew he had wings and planned his outfit to accommodate for that.  He’s the only one who didn’t cut holes in his outfit.  Maybe Mammon was the smallest hoe after all.
Also if there’s a motif it repeats elsewhere, like the studs and diamonds on his jacket and pants.  Did he and Lucifer have a “tastefully putting diamonds on my outfit” battle?  Because Mammon definitely won.
One of the charms broke off the belt loop and he never bothered to replace it, and honestly thank god there isn’t two of those anymore.
Torn between wishing the boots were tighter to match the rest of the outfit and saying “yoooo they’re open in the back!!!”
Ok so so far we’ve said generally only good things, but there is one major issue with the design: Its gravity.  Everything points down, his tattoos, the diamonds, even his wings.  The center of gravity in the image is his shoes.  Bitch loved his shoes so much he made his whole outfit point to them.
Either way this was universally considered the best and I mourn Justin who doesn’t know how far Mammon’s standards are gonna fall from here.
Leviathan:
Tumblr media
Diagonal zipper
“Levi what the fuck.” —Megan
He looks like an e-boy.
Honestly it looks like he borrowed something from Justin’s wardrobe for Pride but he didn’t know how to put it on.
APPARENTLY the biggest hoe.  Abs that he shouldn’t have coming through a mesh t-shirt.  I thought Mammon’s pants were low, but Levi’s whole-ass ass is out.  Ok Levi, I see you.
The shirt pattern is good but he probably leaves it partially unzipped because it’d look really dumb fully closed.
Justin loves the funky pants pattern and Jo likes the pants but not with the outfit.  It’s because the devs were too coward to give him a thick tail base so his pants had to fill that role by sharing the pattern.
The shoes are good, and not just because they incited Justin’s deep-set hatred for Christian Louboutin and his uncomfortable red-bottom shoes.
Justin is offended that he’s hiding his suspenders; either show them completely or not at all, no in between.  Jo’s not fully convinced it isn’t just one suspender.  What are his suspenders doing?  What are they attached to?  Are they holding anything up?  Apparently not.
Jo pointed out that if you squint the belt on his waist looks like fangs and the orange dots on his sleeves looks like eyes so it’s like theres a snake head on his outfit.  Cute!
The gloves are throwing us off though.  Why is Levi of all other brothers need gloves?  I bet he has sweaty hands.
Ok really, does his sweater unzip all the way into two pieces?  Or does it hang by that tiny thread underneath the tail hole?  There’s even a button, just in case.
Can’t believe this antler-sporting, suspender-wasting nerd went diagonal zipper on us because we beat him at a trivia game.  Should have just zipped his hood.
Satan:
Tumblr media
HONEY.
“I hate everything about this.” —Megan
First of all, he’s straight up wearing Lucifer’s casual shirt.  Does it only button down the back?  Can he take it off?
Then he spilled bleach on his pants.  Like I get what they were going for but with the white on black that is literally just bleach stains.
Incredibly differing opinions on the belt.  He got it in the cowboy department.  Justin adores it.  Jo despises it.
And are those… athletic slip ons?
And now the elephant in the room.  The ribcage made of ribbons.  The ribboncage.  The idea is great!  I love that they gave him a skeletal theme without throwing him into a Hot Topic.
But if you take the ribboncage and feather boa off he’s literally just wearing a dress shirt and some nice jeans.  And that’s the problem with Satan’s demon form.  Not that it looks goofy.  It’s that they took risks but then hid all the risks behind business casual.
Also Megan said that the back of the ribbons look like a rock climbing harness.  Someone (probably Justin) said the front reminds them of the underbelly of a green cockroach.  Ew.
The feather boa would look better if it was over something you wouldn’t literally wear at the office.  (And also didn’t look so much like worm on a string.)
“He is going to Dragcon 2020 and is definitely going to take a picture and ask to lip sync, but accidentally start beef with Acid Betty.” —Justin
On a good note, loving how the tail fades to highly radioactive green.  Feels dangerous.  Megan pointed out that it’s a pretty wimpy tail, though.  Jo enjoys the self-conscious posture it expresses.
That’s basically the only good thing we have to say, though.
I just????
Merry Christmas.
Asmodeus:
Tumblr media
The kanji on the picture is just saying that the coattail is the same on both sides.
Ok now with that out of the way, HONEY.
I’m sure he says that to others but I hope he says it to himself too when he looks in the mirror.
Starting with the good.  The wings?  Adorable.  The heart-shaped hole to accommodate them?  Adorable.  One of the only good adjustments.
And I love that the tips of his horns look venomous, like a scorpion tail!
We love a good floral design and a good twin tailcoat.
But once again, the shirt just has too much going on.  The flowers.  The buttons.  The brick-pattern stitching.  The brooch.  The long collar.  The fact that if he closed the last button it’d end in a diamond covering his crotch.  Sometimes less is more, Asmo.
That scorpion brooch is the best thing to ever grace my computer screen and it shouldn’t have to share the spotlight with the rest of his shirt.  It should have wrapped around his arm and been paired with some more jewelry.  Then he could have ditched those giant cuffs.
The bleeding heart tattoos are a really good idea!  But they should have been angled better and not like someone else put them on at the roller rink.  And maybe they shouldn’t have been outlined in pink.  Those aren’t tattoos, those are gaping holes in his arm.  Is he ok.
I’ve been avoiding the pants, but.  The pants.
“Oh dear god. Oh no that’s… I thought you were a designer…” —Jo
One side is buckled the ENTIRE way down, and then the other side is COMPLETELY plain.  It’s too extreme on both ends.  It should have been only half a leg of buckles.  Not whatever this is.  I still don’t think he can bend that leg.
The shoes are ok but they COULD have been a stiletto so.
Jo is DONE with these demons’ inability to wear socks.
We expected better from you, Asmo.  I hope you have to fasten all those buckles every morning as retribution.
Beelzebub:
Tumblr media
He said “how many belts can I wear on one outfit.”
Justin said it’s like Barry B. Benson and Post Malone had a beautiful baby boy, and Obey Me! is cancelled for creating a sequence of events that could lead to me hearing that with my own two ears.
The jacket?  Stunning.  “It’s steampunk mixed with Jack Sparrow, mixed with Billie Joe Armstrong,” says Justin.  It’s got puffy sleeves!  And there’s objectively too much going on with the jacket, but since it’s a leather jacket I can forgive it.  Justin and Jo can’t.
I’m not sure why they keep giving him weird jacket collars but I prefer belt number 9 to fur.
“Why is it bucked in the back?  Couldn’t it have just been a jacket?” —Megan
Good that the black tank isn’t only black, but he has so little color on his outfit that it would have been nice for it and the matching pattern on his boots to have been a color besides gray.
I don’t mind the belts down the leg because they’re not too in your face.  Jo wants the white belt to be thinner.  Justin wants him to just pick one and go with it.
Poor Beel, he can’t do his lil thigh pat pose without his right hand being assaulted by studs and that bear trap-shaped buckle.
Justin feels like the cowboy boots are too wide up top and it’s probably because they’re FAKE cowboy boots.  I don’t know why he didn’t just get cowboy boots instead of putting fake coverings over his dress shoes.
Can’t fault the twin belt, though.  And the wing hole isn’t terrible.
Idk I guess.  They knew what they wanted to do at least.
That seems to be the pattern with Beel: they know what they want to do, but something weird happens in the middle of it.
Belphegor:
Tumblr media
“I don’t know which Teletubby let their son go through the it’s just a phase mom phase, but they should be ashamed.” —Justin
A toddler who just learned how to cut holes in paper got a hold of his hoodie.
Is it a hoodie?  A jacket?  A poncho?  The cow print actually isn’t terrible.  At least it had the decency to be unique in its spotting.  And the actual presence of blue is very appreciated.
On the topic of colors, Jo is calling the devs out on their apparent fear of color.  “Put the pink elsewhere, cowards,” they say.
We actually don’t hate the horseshoe, and using it for the belt buckles is actually really clever.  Even if 75% of them are doing literally nothing.  Feel like he didn’t need that many.  Could do without the bottom one, maybe even bottom two.
There’s a teeeeny tiny cowbell on the back?  Megan apparently finds that VERY important.  Why do they go to such great lengths to remind us that Belphie’s a cow?  Beel doesn’t rub his hands together 24/7.  Mammon doesn’t even get bird wings.
Just like Satan spilled bleach, Belphie has tar pants.
It’s nice to see a change in pant style, but.  Am I biased because I hate harem pants?  Maybe.  Are these harem pants too short on him?  Yes.  Maybe they were supposed to be parachute capris?  But it just looks he outgrew them too fast and Lucifer won’t buy him new pants yet.  At least they look comfy.
If he puts his keys in those pockets will his pants fall down?  Probably.  That’s a problem considering his are the only pants that look like they could hold any keys.
The shoes are fine.  I can enjoy a high topped sneaker.  …Is that a security tag?  Did he steal his shoes.  Belphie stole his shoes.
On the tiny tail hole, I appreciate that Belphie went for modesty.  But I hope it’s impossible to wear these outfits outside of demon form because I don’t want him walking around with a tiny hole right above his ass.
Honestly he doesn’t even look like a demon?  He just looks like… a cow.
Tumblr media
There’s one more aspect of their demon forms that I didn’t feel comfortable forcing into a smaller space than it deserved: Silhouettes.  Jo puts a lot of weight on silhouettes and their role in character design.  Is it dynamic?  Is it recognizable?  Jo ranked them as such:
1. Lucifer: 9/10.  Care and effort were put into this design and it shows. 2. Mammon: 7/10.  Points deducted for most of it being form fitting but otherwise still manages to get a passing grade. 3 (tied). Beelzebub: 5/10.  His wings have actual mass but his horns being mostly hidden by his head reduce his score. 3 (tied). Belphegor: 5/10.  Evens out since his clothes aren’t as form fitting as the others but they also kind of turn him into a blob. 5. Asmodeus: 4/10, and only because he’s got multiple wings and that his tailcoat breaks up the bottom half. 6. Satan: 3/10, for the fact HIS BOA carries most of the work in altering his silhouette. 7. Leviathan: 2/10.  The tail and horns prevent this from being a total flop.
Our (surprisingly unanimous!) ranking of their outfits (not counting Megan her opinions deviated) were:
Mammon
Lucifer
Leviathan
Belphegor
Beelzebub
Asmodeus
Satan
In conclusion, any M-rated fic that doesn’t have it take demon Satan 20 minutes to take off his shirt is too unrealistic.

KH DnD : Between Dawn to Dusk Session 17 Summary
The group head back to the Wayfinder Guild where they find Levi waiting outside the guild. He explains that Ven and Kairi are contacting the other Masters about the situation and will call them inside in a few moments.
The group talked among themselves when Chirithy open the door, telling the group to come inside. Blank goes to say goodbye but is told to come in too.
The group find themselves in front of Master Ventus and Master Kairi with a hologram image of Master Yen Sid. Master Yen Sid introduces himself to the group before the Masters began to talk.
Ven explains the situation with Aithne. How she has choose to go with Vantias and explains that Vantias is a dangerous, controller creature, someone that shouldn't be trusted.
Kairi asked Rotti what he knew about the Corrupted as Levi had mentioned it to her during their partol. Rotti explains members of his village suffering from the corruption and turning into monsters. They ask the group to continue finding more information about the Corrupted.
Due to Vanitas' comments in the cave, North questions what he meant. Kairi and Ven explain that when they had tried to revive Sora many years ago using the Princesses of Heart's powers, they found that they had started to revive keybladers from the age of fairytales.
Eden starts to get angry and both Ven and Kairi, realising that she's one of these keybearers that was revived, as well as feeling betrayed from Aithne's actions. At this point, Levi realises that this must be the case for himself and Shiva as he couldn't connect the dots between leaving home and being found in Cable Town.
Kairi explains that some of the keybearers that had got revived ended up coming back as Corrupted, tainted light from being pulled from death and explains that Ven and herself have been trying to create a remedy for this. Eden, at this point, heads to her room, too angry to listen.
Master Yen Sid continues that if the group was to go to other worlds, they need to gather light blue crystals found in each world. Finding enough of them should be able to aid Kairi in her research.
Kairi turns to Blank and asks him for his assistance in this, explaining that the group can use her gummi ship to go to different worlds. With a warm smile, Blank accepts.
OBJECTIVE: Find Aithne. Find the blue crystals in the worlds. Find out more about the Corrupted.
Ven heads out with Blank to aid in getting the gummi ship ready for the group. Jason quickly asks Master Yen Sid before he goes if anyone had survived from his village.
Master Yen Sid explains that from the village of Dawn, there was one survivor. When Batty asked if he can sense where Aithne was, he explains that he sensed her briefly in the Realm of Darkness, though not 100%.
With the meeting over, the group decide to head to bed to prepare for the next day.
During the night, Levi finds himself woken up by Eden searching through his room. Seeing Levi, she asks him for his star shard, only to tell her that he had given it back to Ven already. She goes to say that she will go search his room when Levi asks her what's wrong.
Eden expresses her betrayed from not being told the truth about where the two of them came from and confused about the two of them. She explains that since healing up from her 'death', she keep having dreams of the two of them fighting, disagreeing, travelling together but realises that they were memories for her past life.
Levi tells her that they should look at this as a second chance since they have been revived and that she should stay with the group. Eden points out that she died for someone in his group, only for them to go to enemy. She asks hom how well does she know Rotti and Batty. She goes to say she only trust him. Levi explains that they will only find the truth if they all stick together. After some convincing, Eden agreed to stay with them.
The next morning, the group are woken by banging on the guild door. Kairi, who had stayed the night, answered the door to find Huey, Dewey amd Louie. The triples ask for their help, mainly Jason's and Rotti's, as something is wrong with Webby.
Before they could find out more, explosions started to appear in Radiant Garden, as well as a sight of a Twilight Thorn. Ven told Huey, Dewey and Louie to wait at the guild while they deal with the Nobodies.
When they enter Radiant Garden, they see the mage guards trying to keep the citizens safe from dusks. The Twilight Thorn throws one of the gummi ships towards the group, seperating Kairi, Ven and North from Levi, Eden, Jason, Rotti and Batty. Ven tells them to continue o while they go the long way.
As the team try to figure out a way to get to the town square as debris blocked their main route. Rotti flies up to get a good view point, only for some dusks to notice him and slam him down back to the group.
The others run after Rotti and begin to fight a collection of dusks. During the fight, the Twlight Thorn manages to grab Eden and Batty and drag them away from the others.
Levi, Jason and Rotti manage to deal with the Dusks, making good use of their class abilities. They find a path that lead them to the town sqaure. They see Blank managing to free Eden from TT's grip while Batty still remained trapped.
With Jason using his Anti Form, Levi using divine smite and Eden using her fire wall to trap the Twilight Thorn, they managed to defeat it with ease.
Jason loses himself to his darkness but Batty acts quickly and manages to Charm Jason. He tells him to calm down, allowing Jason to come out of his Anti Form before taking a moment to make Jason act silly until Jason snapped out of the charm.
Blank points out to the others that more Twilight Thorns have started to appear. He urges them to rush to the gummi ship. They hear a shout and see North running to them with the Dusks behind them. North turns to face them, turns her keyblade into her gun form and blasts them away before joining the others. North told them that Kairi and Ven wants them to go. The group doesn't hesitate. Blank and North gets the gummi ship up and running and everyone gets ready for a rocky ride.
Blank manages to take off before the Twlight Thorns notices (Nat 20). Batty notices from the view window that the Prima Vista took off as well, leaving the world.
The group managed to escape the battle on Radiant Garden, Eden wondered if they made the right choices.

I Heard Your Voice in a Dream
Setting: August 9th, Audition for the Metropolitan Opera Ballet Series: The Audition Trilogy (Pt. 1) Triggers: N/A Note: Featuring Paulo Santos  Title Song Cut for Length: 2481 words
The scene was one that Alex had seen a thousand times, whether it be in her head or from experience, only this time Alex was sure that she was ready. Stretching out her body she ran through everything that she had learned over the course of her entire dance training. She ran through positions, she thought through routines.  This wasn't her first audition so Alex knew what to expect. And even though if she absolutely had to choose, this was her second choice, if it meant that she'd be able to dance for a living it would be worth it. She could do this and still meet the demands of the marriage law, and even if she ended up cutting it close, it would still work.
It almost felt like so many people were depending on her for this. Everyone who said that she had this, everyone who told her that they looked forward to seeing her on stage, all of them were expecting that she nail this and the next audition. And even though Alex breathed out, trying to relieve herself of that pressure, she still felt it.  It was something that she was just going to have to deal with. But Alex knew that she had dealt with worse.
After all, she didn't know anyone else who had a huge wedding and a recital all in the same week.
Tying her pointe shoes, Alex stood up, and took her place in the room. She could feel the energy of everyone else auditioning, she could sense the anxiety, and Alex tried not to notice that she really seemed to be the oldest person in the room. However, all she had to do was show she was better, show that she was worth the investment, and everything would be fine. And she was glad that she had the class first to really get her nerves out.
Class was probably her favorite part of the entire auditioning process. It gave her a chance to relax, which Alex desperately needed as she walked in. It was a chance to learn, a chance to figure out what they were looking for, a chance to hear corrects and apply them - even if they were given to someone else. The choreography came easy to her, which Alex was pleased with since that wasn't the case the last time that she had auditioned. And the more she practiced, the less the knots seemed to form in her stomach, and the more comfortable that she seemed with the situation.  By the time that it was their break to change, it seemed like things weren't going to be a repeat of the last time that she had auditioned, back when she was nowhere near ready and thought that she was one of the best dancers in the world. And while overconfidence had more than likely killed her the last time, Alex tried her best not to fall into a false sense of security. Even with feeling more comfortable this time, it didn't mean that she was what they were looking for.
Entering the stage, Alex's nerves returned, though not to the extent of when she had first arrived.  However there was something different, the girls who did know each other seemed to be whispering to each other about something.  Alex didn't hear much just "dance director" and "hot" which she didn't pay much attention to considering that wasn't that important.
"Good afternoon ladies," a new voice boomed as the man it belonged to walked onto the stage. There was a clear accent though Alex wasn't entirely sure where it was from.  That was until she saw his face. He was older than his picture of course, but Alex still knew it. She'd memorized the picture, obsessed over it as a child, created stories before she was truly okay with not meeting him. So of course he had to be here. "As some of you know my name is Paulo Santos, I am the new director of dance here at the Metropolitan Opera and I am very excited to see you all today."
His English was better than from what her mother had told her about him, though Alex figured that was to be expected since he obviously was living in the United States now. Though that just left her with more questions like if her mother knew that he was here, or if he'd tried to look them up.  If he actually knew who she was, or if she was just going to be another face in the crowd of the audition. And with the blindside, she clearly missed his first instruction. Even though she could get it from someone else, Alex already knew that was a strike against her. If it had been noticed, but she was already over-analyzing everything. And it wasn't even what she was supposed to be focused on.
Breathe, just breathe and dance and everything will be alright, Alex told herself, wishing that she could believe that was true. At least she wasn't going first, and it gave her a second to try and compose herself. By the time it was her groups time to perform, she was calmer, or at least Alex wanted to believe that she was calmer. All she had to do was focus on the dance and not look at him, which was a skill that Alex had learned and mastered over the past few years. And if she could at least almost forget that he was there, maybe this whole thing wouldn't be a disaster.
Taking one last breath, Alex focused on the music as it started, giving into the choreography and slowly grew more and more comfortable with the dance. But even without looking she could feel Paulo's eyes on her, and right before her triple pirouette her eyes accidentally caught his. She still wasn't sure whether or not he knew who she was, but it was clear that he was analyzing her more than he had anyone else. Like he knew there was something about her that he just couldn't place. And that moment was enough for her to mess up her beginning of the turn, lose her balance and fall hard on the floor, her arm getting most of the impact of the loud thud.
Everyone always said in auditions that when you fell you were supposed to get back up and keep going because chances are they were focused somewhere else and didn't see you fall. And yet Alex knew that wasn't true, just from what she had seen before. However she also knew that the only reason to stay on the floor was if she was injured and after a second of reflection she was sure that she didn't hurt that badly. Quickly getting up she rejoined the formation, but the fall made Alex go too in her head. She she felt every mistake, her balance was shaky, she could feel the weakness in her ankle that she sprained years ago that barely was weaker than the other. And by the end of the routine, Alex knew that she had blown it. She could feel it. Her technique that she had spent so long working on had completely gone out the window. And in watching the other groups she couldn't help but compare herself to them, see how all of them had done better than she had. Which only made her feel worse.
Even if she didn't want to dance here, even if she was pretty sure that if she had a choice she wanted to be nowhere near her biological father, Alex was forever forced to have her first impression on him to be a failure. So that was just the icing on the cake of this bad audition. She felt like she was going through water as she went back and packed her bag, changing out of her outfit, and figuring that she was going to get out of there as fast as possible.
Alex left the changing room in a hurry, not really sure what she was going to do past there.  Maybe go get drunk, maybe cry with her cat, maybe a combination of both, she just had to get out of there. She wasn't even sure if she knew how to talk about it, it was such a weird situation, one that nobody would have expected.  Which even though it should have been reassuring, only made the girl feel worse.
"Alexandra!" a voice called after her on the street, though it took Alex a few seconds to realize that it was meant for her. Turning around, she saw Paulo running after her, or running the best that he could on a busy New York sidewalk. For a moment she was tempted to keep walking, avoid him at all costs, but she had a feeling he'd keep chasing her anyway. "Alexandra Temple!" he called again, catching up with her as Alex readjusted the bag on her shoulder.
"Can I help you?" Alex asked, almost hoping that the conversation would be asking if her arm was alright, or if she would reaudition because it was clear that she wasn't doing well - though that option was just one that only happened in dreams or movies.  It'd never actually happened in real life.
"Yes. I apologize if this is overstepping, but do you know a Claudia Temple?" he asked, looking at her as if he were analyzing her face, trying to get a better look now that they were talking, "I'm sorry to be asking, but I have been looking for her, and seeing your information on the audition information, it made me curious."  Alex tried not to figure out why he wanted to look for her, it just made this day even weirder than the fact that he
"She's my mother," the woman said after a few seconds, looking into his eyes as she tried to see if he had actually put things together yet. Paulo had already admitted to reading up on her, which Alex wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing, but it did give him all the information that he needed to connect the dots. Her mother as her secondary emergency contact, the fact she'd trained with her, the fact that her last name had "Temple" in it still. Maybe she shouldn't have hyphenated her last name with Levi's and this whole thing wouldn't have happened. Maybe that would have been for the better.
"Your mother?" Paulo asked, sounding more like he was clarifying than actually asking.  Slowly she could see that it was dawning on him, but not quite fast enough as Alex wanted, starting to just wish that he hadn't followed her. That he wasn't curious. That he wasn't looking for her mother for some reason that Alex couldn't even think of. Did he just want to sleep with her again, or was there something else that was going on that Alex had no idea about. It was all too much at once.
"If you're trying to do the math, my birthday is Valentines Day, and if you count back I was conceived the week that you spent with her. Just don't drag this out more than it needs to be, please," Alex snapped at him, almost instantly regretting it considering that it gave him the final puzzle piece that he clearly was close to working out already. Plus she hated snapping at people, it just felt like a situation that there was no way out of.
Muttering something under his breath that Alex could only assume was some Portuguese swear word, the two of them stared at each other, almost daring each other to speak first.
"I thought you looked like me," Paulo finally said, "The cheekbones, the chin, both are very common in my family."  That wasn't what Alex wanted to hear, as she crossed her arms over herself, just wishing that he gave her a reason to run. "Claudia didn't..."
"She didn't know how to find you. Or at least that's what she always told me," Alex quietly finished, staring at the ground, glad that her angry outburst hadn't completely taken her over, "I don't really know."
"I see," the man nodded at her, "You dance like her too.  At least you did, for most the routine."  Alex winced at the reminder of how badly she'd embarrassed herself, almost feeling like it was now worse now that she was actually talking to him, "It was a disappointment watching you, the instructors called you the star of the class. A gem who they believed was ready to skip over the corp. Technique was very good, only for you to prove that you can't perform under pressure. That was a sad thing to see."
Alex nodded, knowing that there wasn't anything that she could do to argue that one.
"I wish I could take you," Paulo said, "but considering what you told me, I can't ask you to join when you cannot dance under pressure. Not without too many claims of favoritism." Alex blinked a couple of times, trying to understand what he was saying. And realizing that he was pretty much saying that she had been so horrible that if she got the part everyone would figure out quickly that she was his daughter. Even though Alex was positive that unless he told people, nobody would be able to figure it out. "Yes, I'm sure today was...hard. But you have to be able to perform when things are hard,  so maybe next year? It gives you time to work on that skill." Normally Alex tried to take criticism with grace, but that just felt like a slap in the face after everything that she had already gone through over the course of the day.
"Thank you Mr. Santos, but I really don't think that I'm comfortable with that," Alex finally said, nodding at him, "If you want to find my mother she teaches in Brooklyn. That should make it easy enough to find her, but please don't contact me again." Turning, Alex walked away, knowing that she ended everything abruptly, but she wasn't going to be able to work with him. That much was clear to her, even if the man had hope for something different. Some sort of connection that Alex wasn't sure that she would be able to give him. Sighing, Alex started walking in the direction of home, letting the tears fall on her face now in hopes that she'd be able to walk through the door and be done crying.  She just wanted to sleep, to not have to deal with the rest of the day.
And to prove to herself that she was better than this. Alex had one last chance. And she had to be better. She had to be her best.

This stately two story brick traditional residence is located on 5.4 wooded acres on a private road at the end of a cul-de sac. It has a separate living room, formal dining room, family room, play room, study, downstairs bedroom, four bathrooms and four upstairs bedrooms. There are ten foot ceilings on the first floor, crown moldings, chair railing, two fireplaces and extensive shelves and built-in cabinets in the study. The kitchen has wood cabinets, an island, double ovens, a five burner cooktop, a triple sink, plus a salad sink and a breakfast room with a bay window. A large circular staircase leads from the tiled entry foyer to an upstairs sitting room with French doors that open onto an outside deck. The master bedroom and bathroom form a suite, with separate vanities, a large walk-in closet and a separate shower and tub. The other three upstairs bedrooms share a hall bathroom. The house is on a wooded lot, dotted with large oak trees and several flowering shrubs and bushes, creating a park-like setting. The residence is conveniently located within a five minute drive of the Oaks Mall, North Florida Regional Medical Center and I-75.
