Laleler, genellikle soğanlı bir bitki olan Liliaceae familyasından gelir ve çiçek açan bitkilerdir. Özellikle Hollanda ile özdeşleşmiş olsalar da, aslında Orta Asya'ya özgüdürler ve Türkiye'de de tarih boyunca önemli bir yere sahiptirler. Laleler, bahar aylarında genellikle güzel ve çarpıcı çiçekleriyle bahçeleri, parkları ve manzaraları süslemek için yetiştirilirler.

İşte laleler hakkında bazı temel bilgiler:

Çeşitlilik: Laleler, çeşitli renklerde ve formlarda gelir. Pembe, kırmızı, mor, sarı, beyaz ve hatta siyah gibi birçok renkte bulunurlar. Çiçeklerin şekilleri de değişebilir, bazıları tek katlıdır, bazıları ise daha dolgun ve katmanlıdır.

Tarihçe: Laleler, 16. yüzyılda Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nda yetiştirilmeye başlandı ve daha sonra Avrupa'ya yayıldı. Hollanda, lale ekimi ve ticaretiyle özellikle ünlüdür ve 17. yüzyılda "lale çılgınlığı" dönemi olarak bilinen bir dönem yaşandı.

Yetiştirme: Laleler genellikle sonbaharda dikilen soğanlarla yetiştirilir. Soğanlar, genellikle kış boyunca dinlenir ve bahar geldiğinde çiçek açmak için toprağın üstüne fırlatılır.

Anlamı: Laleler, zarafet, gurur ve bereket gibi farklı anlamlara sahiptir. Ayrıca bazı kültürlerde aşkın sembolü olarak da kabul edilirler.

Bahçe ve Peyzaj: Laleler, bahçe düzenlemesinde ve peyzaj tasarımlarında sıkça kullanılır. Hem tek renkli hem de karışık renkli lale tarhlarının düzenlendiği bahçeler büyüleyici bir görüntü oluşturabilir.

Laleler, baharda doğanın uyanışını ve yeniden doğuşunu sembolize eden güzel ve etkileyici çiçeklerdir.

Hard 2 believe this is a tulip, it sort of looks like a rose or peony. In fact this is called a double late peony tulip. The Canadian Tulip Festival is our 1st festival 2 kick off the tourist season since Covid. It was packed Mother’s Day at Commissioners Park.

We commemorate 3 things with the gift of tulips from the Dutch Royal family. 1 We commemorate our Canadian military who fought & those who lost their lives in the Liberation of the Netherlands 🇳🇱 (end of WWII May 5, 1945).

2nd Commemoration we remember during WWII the Dutch Royal family evacuated 2 Canada until the Netherlands were liberated. In gratitude, Queen Julianna sent 100,000 tulip bulbs the 1st year & every year since 10,000 bulbs continue 2 arrive. By 1950 Ottawa’s gift of tulips became famous. TulipFest was born in 1954 with the help of renowned award winning photographer, Malak Karsh. The festival honours Julianna’s gift.

3 We commemorate HRH Princess Marguerite’s birth in Canada & the friendship between our countries. HRH princess Marguerite’s birth is the only Royal personage 2 have ever been born in Canada. Our prime minister at the time declared the maternity ward of the Civic Hospital Dutch soil so she could B born in her own country. The annual 10 day festival is from May 12-22 this year. Go out 2 the festival sites, stop & smell the tulips, enjoy the fine weather & let’s be thankful 2 all 1st line workers who worked so hard 2 keep us safe during Covid! Hats off 2 the tulip festival team 4 their hard work & new surprises 2 the festival this year. Hats off 2 the @NCC_CCN 4 the amazing job they do planting & keeping our public green spaces so beautiful all over the National Capital region every year.

Tulip colors have specific meanings when sent as a gift. Pink is the colour of good wishes, confidence, health & femininity. It’s a calming colour & is good choice for congratulations of a graduation or new job, a get well wish for a speedy recovery. It can also mean love & admiration but not the romantic type of love.

White tulips can mean different things depending on the circumstances. White traditionally meant I’m sorry or condolence. In Victorian times a book called the “Language of Flowers” was used to convey messages positive or negative feeling to a recipient. At that time etiquette determined how people conducted themselves about being proper & outward show of affection wasn’t permitted. White could mean pure love and passion. In modern times white symbolizes purity & tulips mean new life. White is a good choice for baptism, weddings, holy communion, baby shower. White is associated with heaven therefore is a good choice for religious ceremonies & it is a symbol of peace. But these descriptions may not apply to a flower which is both pink & white. I couldn’t find a meaning for flowers which are bicolored.
