Hi all,
I know it’s been a while but ... Covid. My university sent us home in March, but I stayed on campus until May because at the time NYC was a hotspot for covid cases and my family had been sick at one point. These past couple of months have been absolutely crazy, but I’m glad to be home. I’m currently writing a Technical White Paper for my STEM communications class. It has to be max 2700 words but I went over the limit and now I have to revise 😅

I did a thing!! For my birthday (April 7th btw) I bought an iPad and completely switched to digital notes. It’s been a huge motivation booster and I’m excited to see what I can do with it!

Tyler, the semi organized computer scientist?
I apologize for my month long hiatus, but things got busy over here and I couldn’t keep up.

My second semester at my new university has ended and I hate to admit it but I struggled a lot... again. I put in countless hours toward my classes, didnt get back to my apartment until 12am or sometimes 3am and in the end I did not get the result that I was hoping for. I won’t graduate on time at this rate, but I won’t let this set back deter me.

Hi, I'm a first year in comp eng, and I'm trying to get a head start in my C programming class before it rolls around next sem. What are your suggestions for a beginner (learning, practicing, resources etc?) And maybe some mindset advice for programming in general?
Hi! If you have the time definitely read “The C Programming Language” by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie. My Systems Programming professor swore on this book and called it the programming bible. I agree. Do all of the examples in the book! It’s a little hard to understand unfortunately because it is old. As far as programming in general, break down the tasks you need to do and take it day by day. I’m sorry if this wasn’t helpful. If you have anymore questions feel free to message me.

My motivation is slowly dissipating and I’m nervous. I didn’t exactly start out the semester on the right foot , but I didn’t start out on the wrong foot either. I now have 3 group projects, and a separate project for my Human Computer Interactions class as well as the regular homework assigned. I also have to study for finals which is coming up soon.

Hi all! It’s been a while since my last post. I told myself that I would try to post more often but I’m currently dealing with two deaths in my family. The semester just started so I’ll try my best to be active. Thank you for continuing to follow me throughout my journey!

Whew. It’s been a while. Here’s what you missed.
Aside from being an active member in 4 different computer science clubs at my school (we have more I just don’t have time for them), and 2 non-comp Sci clubs (Musicians club and Ice Skating club), I’m now an Engineering Ambassador for my school which means I’m the one prospective students and parents talk to if they want to know more about the engineering program and what we have to offer. I have to remember a TON of information about the different majors and host tours and office hours for people to come see me. It’s a lot of work but I’m really enjoying it. Here’s a picture of me reading my C programming book. Follow me on ig to see more of my adventures @tylerthecomputerscientist

Here’s a picture of me trying to teach myself python for an assignment that’s due tomorrow. Why do I do this to myself?
Also! I saw My Hero Academia in theaters and proceeded to cry after. If anyone watches anime MHA specifically DM ME.

The fall semester starts in 3 months, so I’m trying to enjoy the break for what it is. Which means more “me” time with a little studying here and there. Next month I start a class which should put me back on track to graduate on time. That’s all for now!

I’ll try to be more active this semester and post more original content. In the meantime you can see what I’ve been up to on my Instagram @tylerthecomputerscientist !

Life update - Hiatus
Hey guys, just a bit of an update as to why I’m not posting. I’m currently trying to sort out some health issues. I was working for the first half of summer but unfortunately some stuff came up and now I’m in and out of the hospital. I’m hoping things resolve by the 20th because that’s when I’m going back to school. I was grateful enough to join my school’s “move-in crew” so I get to be on campus 4 days early. This is plenty of time to start recording yt videos and planning my semester accordingly. I’m okay for now and still pretty active on Instagram. You guys can follow me @tylerthecomputerscientist.
