My parents were not nice and didn't handle having a disabled child even remotely well, and even tho things are better between us now I still doubt their claims of unconditional love for me,

But at the very least they cared enough about me to vaccinate me against measles

And considering that both my partner and I are most likely on the spectrum, though neither of us is diagnosed, our kid will probably be too. COVID prolly finally caught me

One tries one's best, but my ears are clogged and my nose is running and my head hurts. I still have senses of smell and taste, so either the latest vaccine is doing its job properly or it's actually some other respiratory infection.

It sucks 'cause I had a good track record, but we're unhoused and couchsurfing during one of the biggest spikes in the brief history of the illness.

Just sucks is all. I knew there was no avoiding it this time. Estimates were one in three will get it this time around due to lack of precautions, and I couldn't get anybody to stay six feet away from me masked or otherwise, and due to my circumstances I am unable to avoid using public transit. Unhoused people don't get to avoid COVID. Poor people have to shop for groceries more often than would be otherwise preventable, too, because we can't always afford nor even store buying in bulk, and the unhoused may not even have the entire space of a refrigerator or shelves, even when couchsurfing. And we had to travel during the spike, on New Years', because we were unable to live where we were. The lease ran out and the South is a rotten place to be homeless, trans, with a wife and kid and nearly no support network and no family. We simoly truly were forced by our circumstances to travel at the worst possible time.

Can't afford cars, can't afford to isolate. Turns out I am a member of a very vulnerable population again.

There was simply no avoiding it unless everyone else acted responsibly. Any plan that requires that is a bad plan.

Ultimately the blame is on the wealthy who sabotaged public response categorically.

Crikey, with all the brain fog I experience from anxiety disorders, the last thing I need is new permanent neurological damage. And at my age, permanent damage to my internal organs is gonna be Fun™️.

Wonder what this is gonna do to my immune system. :T

Bonus: We have to vamoose in six days due to the terms of our hostex's lease, and have not lined up anywhere to stay for more than a day or two each location, and getting to all the appointments to talk to people and attend interviews and such is exposing more people but we have to jump through hoops in order to try to obtain food, housing, etc. And of course nobody at my kid's middle school masks up.

I found a few screenshots from when we had to make a slideshow presentation in order to convince our "mother" to let us be vaccinated for COVID-19. I thought they were funny, especially the later two. You have to put yourself in the mind of a clickbait youtuber in order to keep the attention of conspiracy theorists.

The goal was to convince her the side effects of the vaccine were better than a lonely death by COVID. 2023 and I find myself needing to pull teeth with her in order to get boosters. I can't wait to be 18, even if jobs and taxes are bad or whatever.

Top 3 worst pains I've been in, descending

Tooth infection

Being immunocompromised and two hours from death by atypical shingles that were all over my body, including down my throat and up my genitals and I have a vague hazy recollection of a doctor saying the pox were also covering my internal organs

That headache I had for an entire week two weeks ago while immunocompromised and hospitalized for the norovirus that I'm still suffering from because of my immunocompromised status

The first one is kinda my fault for never taking oral care seriously. But the second was because some jackass sent their obviously chickenpoxed kid to daycare when I was ten and the varicella vaccine was still too new to be standard and thus six years later that one moment of careless dumbassery by the parent(s) nearly killed me when my immune system collapsed. And the third worst pain I've been in was very recent and because someone either came in while sick or else was asymptomatic but either way they didn't wash their hands before preparing my food.

If I'm going to die from a careless mistake I'd rather it be own moment of carelessness and not because some jackass who will never be held accountable didn't consider that other people exist too
