Randomly thinking about grrm’s deconstruction of knighthood in asoiaf and how ironic it is that the Night’s Watch - an organization known to be half full of murderers, rapists, thieves, and all sorts of criminals - is essentially in charge of defending all of humanity when shit hits the fan. Like westeros just scrambled ‘the lowest of the low’ together into a penal colony in the far north and is totally fine depending on them for their survival; though tbf, i guess part of it has to do with expecting these societal ‘others’ to give their not so valuable lives for the good of the realm, who really cares if they live or die because they’re out of sight and out of mind. And it’s kinda funny too when we factor in the kingsguard because it’s a far more respected institution than the NW presently, but it too has its fair share of monsters. Quite a few men of the kingsguard have been morally bankrupt individuals, and we even see how the men of the KG sometimes forget other people they should be responsible for because their one priority is the king (we see what happens when you put the people of the realm first and then are ostracized by it a la Jaime tho there’s more to it). Missing the forest for the tree is something both institutions share, making them quite similar. So it’s interesting how grrm flips the fantasy classic of the black knight vs the white knight. The black knight is often anti-heroic, if not straight up villainous, and is often made to be diametrically opposed to the valiant and ever good white knight. But asoiaf has white and black knights both be shown of great virtue and great vice. The white knights in this story really are no better than the black knights. I’d love to see how these two entities could intersect, i.e., what happens when a white knight eventually changes his cloak for a black one (*cough* Jaime *cough*) and how that falls into grrm’s deconstruction of the romance of chivalry, the extent of personal heroism, and perceived knightly virtue. Welp I don’t even know what point I’m trying to make anymore, I just wanted to talk about the KG and the NW because they’re really cool.

Another Arthurian concept, we have now Sir Galahad - just like everyone else, with his trusty sword and little "titles" I gave him. Pure of heart and youngest of all seem to fit him nicely :)
Everything about him is constant and reliable - hence so many rectangular and square shapes - but he is very soft as well, very emotional and understanding - so we also have round shapes and edges are pretty much rounded.
And I guess it's pretty clear he's a catholic/christian (hello, yes, I was raised in the religion and TO THIS DAY I still go like "is this catholic? is this christian? it's pretty much the same to me *puts on clown makeup*)
Also, very sober look and sober colours that contrast with how young he looks. Little scar on his face because, you know, not even the most perfect of beings are 100% perfect, it's a little reminder he also has his flaws.
And, of course, upon testing the layers, we have dear Galahad in the church, lit up by some vitrals:
Tumblr media
His design is purple, because it compliments Lancelot's blue. Alsoooo, they look very much alike, right? Well, that has a lot to do on my view and my Arthurian world, so let's get to it!
~fangirling and overexplaining under the cut~
First obstacle I got was "Oooooh Galahad is Lancelot's son in a LOT of accounts and most of the early texts as far as I remember".
But the idea and approach I have to Arthurian legend is a lot more on what I call ~realistic~. Not a 100% though, because if you do not believe in magic and the power of new and old gods, you wouldn't think of my version as realistic.
Personally, I enjoy very much the portrayal of Hugh Dancy on the 2005 movie (as you guys know, that Lancelot lives rent free in my head, 24/7, the bastard), and recently I really enjoyed Bernard Cornwell's characterization of Galahad - so when it comes to my approach, I like leaning a lot more to that one because, personally, it makes Galahad looks much more human.
Like I said, I was born and raised in catholic faith. I went to a catholic school, knew and still know all the church songs by heart, have thousands of crucifixes, rosaries, medals of saints and images of saints laying around. To this day, I still go with my mom to church wehenever she wants to and I do enjoy churches - they feel very soothing to me, even if my faith has changed.
This disclaimer matters, trust me HAHAHAHA
All that to say, the guilt is real. With literally everything. And when I started rebelling against the faith I was taught since I was born, gotta be honest, watching that scene in King Arthur where a priest tortures people because they were pagans and says it's God's will and Lancelot just turns at him and screams savagely "NOT MY GOD!!!!" I was
👁️👄👁️
And I only went downhill with this man from there Lancelot was the death of my christian/catholic faith
Ok, ok, why does this matters when it comes to Galahad?
Well, usually, he's Lancelot's son. And/or he is this absurdly freaking perfect young man, the peak Knight in shiny armour. But that doesn't really work for me - I like having something more grounded in a grittier side of history, something more ~dark fantasy~, because we all know medieval times weren't pretty.
All those perfect Knights with pristine behaviours and morals, to me, feel too much like the Bible I grew up with - not real history with real people.
Enter Bernard Cornwell's Galahad. He's Lancelot's cousin and, in Cornwell's books, Lancelot is FUCKING INSUFFERABLE. I am looking SO FORWARD to have this man dead, because he is vile, narcisistic and a lying bastard. Galahad, in the other hand, quite despises his cousin for that. They are different sides of the same coin.
(Another disclaimer: I'm not watching The Winter King TV series 'cause they have NOTHING to do with the book and I am MAD about it, so definitely not based on that)
And what I love MOST about him: he found some balance between his faith and his human condition. He is a Knight, he kills and is pretty good at it, he doesn't shy away from battle and bloodbath. And then he prays to God and asks for forgiveness for his actions, knowing, someday, he will die himself and maybe God will allow him to enter Heaven.
He won't stop living his very human emotions to be this naïve saint walking on earth - quite the contrary, he's strong and feared in battle, and can be pretty much of a little bitch taunting people.
There's where I stand with my Galahad, then. I wanted him to be the youngest, to have this sort of naïve look to him - as well as that skinny constitution and more of a confident but reserved behaviour (quite different than Lancelot, who's posing proudly with his sword and smirking like the sassy bitch he is).
He's still learning things, so his hands are a little softer than others. Nevertheless, he already has a scar on his face, showing he's not that naïve. Galahad is pure of heart and cannot understand evil - he understands it logically but never emotionally - but he isn't a perfect naïve sweet summer child. If Arthur tells him to go and kill, he will do it.
And probably pray later.
That's why here he has the same hair as Lancelot - curly and dark, but a little shorter and more tamed - they are cousins. His eyes are more rounded, his face more oval to indicate he's still young and has a lot of good in him. His purple compliments Lancelot's blues, but his cape is a lot heavier and less flowy and dramy than his cousin's.
He has crucifixes everywhere to indicate his unweavering faith in God - even his sword looks like a crucifix. His clothes are sober in colour, but still regal with the purple, given he is a prince. I looked at some priests clothing to take some aspects of that and work on his armour - so we have things like a high button up, probably thick leather vest with a more off-white/lavender collar... Like a priest.
Not so many details and all that because of his personality: given his faith, Galahad does his best to rely on practicality of a chain and leather armour, sober colours to move around the dark settings of Britain and crucifixes to remind him he's supported by God. After all, not all of faith is just giving love, it's also receiving that love - and, in Galahad's point of view, he can feel and see God in the little things that happen to him every day.
All that faith is important to his character because he's the one that goes after the Holy Grail and succeeds, as far as I've read, something Lancelot didn't manage to do. Since I'm not much into ALL that catholic/christian religion thing, because I do think it outshines all the potential the characters have together and I have a personal beef with it, I think a man at that time who could find the balance between faith and life, without falling in cult behaviour and hysteria, honestly trying his best to live according to those values as far as his flawed human existance allowed him... That is the Holy Grail in itself.
Now, I do enjoy the concept of Galahad and Lancelot being different sides of the same coin, so ooooooooh yes, they have so much potential for philosophical and existential discussions, with Galahad always thinking about the salvation of the soul and trying to put some sense in his cousin's head and make him a better person, and Lancelot just indulging in whatever and dismissing everything he says with a good laugh - that is, when he is not in a bad mood and Lancelot just spits all the horrible things people do in the name of Galahad's God and honestly, there's no reasoning with him when he's like that.
They always end up having a drink together, in silence, thinking about everything they have talked about. Galahad does think Lancelot has a point in there and seriously questions people regarding their morals when it comes to their putrid behaviour in the name of God. And Lancelot knows deep down Galahad's words about him are drenched in truth, even if he doesn't have the same faith: he cannot deny he has too many flaws and too many behaviours that, sometimes, are questionable even to those who don't think they'll burn in Hell.
I did draw a little thing I need to find, with the Knights dining and laughing while teasing Galahad about his upstanding behaviour and not wanting to bed a woman every night they had the oportunity, while he's just "Well, there are things in this world more important than fleeting pleasures. At least I am worrying about my soul. You, in the other hand, are all going to Hell." and of course, he says that with the most content smile in the world, teasing them back. All Knights and Arthur fall silent, thinking about his words. Until Lancelot just side-eyes his cousin and "Are the women from Hell beautiful?" - everyone breaks in laughter and Galahad just smiles with a 'you're hopeless' plastered on his forehead.
That's pretty much how they all work in a nutshell. Big questions, big philosphizing around faiths and morals, big doubts and existential dread. But a lot of teasing and jokes, bloody fields and battle rushes, big feelings and an unbreakable companionship based in loyalty.
Even if he is a very level-headed man, very literate, confident, young, passionate and restrained in his expressions of his emotions out of combat, Galahad is still very pure of heart - Lancelot would never say it in front of him, but he believes you can always find a hint of hope and love in his cousin's eyes.
If that is God or not, well, that's up to you to decide.

Weekly roundups: prompts
Tsukihime
Smut, I want that anemic twink Shiki spitroasted by Arcueid and Ciel in some odd competitive threesome thing the two got going on
Show mercy on my soul. Femboy Akiha.
Fate/Stay Night
FGO
Smut, For as much as they want her 'spear', I think Morgan should introduce Gudako and Da Vinci to it-- that is, can we have her cock vore the two of them?
Smut, incest, Karna and Vritra team up to edge and overstim Arjuna until he cries
jeanne gets some well deserved karma for her big sister beam brainwashing .
Yknow how Nobukatsu gloats over the REAL Nobunaga saying he is nothing like his as he lays dying from the poison he gave him? Something similar but this time Mitsuhide is the target and he made sure the poison was just right that it would take a very long time for him to die as he watches Or he just stabs the guy I dunno Nobukatsu deserves to kill more people
Morgan is Bored and demands carnival rides be built in Fae Britain. Entertainment ensues.
Noncon, incest, Summer Avatoria having a soft fulfilling romance with Muramasa as people who are tied by fate thrice over. Meanwhile Summer Castoria would LOVE to stop waking up filled with cum from a man she considers ber grandfather. The downsides of sharing a body you know how it is (feel free to play it as lighthearted or fucked up as you wish)
Asclepius becomes a therapist because dear God do some of these servants (and staff) need help and somebody's gotta be the counselor.
Noncon, Elaine of Carbonek, the raging bitch who raped Lancelot and mother of Galahad, is summoned. If you thought Galahad resented his FATHER, y’all ain’t seen nothing yet. Mash has to be physically restrained when Elaine refers to her as “Junior.” (Technically, Galahad would be Galahad Jr, if Lancelot ever went by his birth name. I am an Arthuriana nerd.)
Emiya realizes that Ritsuka mission are becoming too dangerous, so he locks himself there with her, she can left whenever she wants, as long as she is able to do a simple task, with all the knowledge and weapons she gathered from her servants she must kill him, proving she has become strong enough to be the protector of humanity
Salieri gets a Summer form, where instead of being the amalgamation of the rumours of who killed Mozart, he's the amalgamation of the myths of the Maenads who tore Orpheus apart.
First Hassan and Shiki killing increasingly improbable and abstract things as a friendly contest. Escalating from “the tension in the room” to Barghest’s desire to eat her loved ones” to “Artoria’s resentment of Mordred” to “Wednesdays.”
Continuation of the Grand Carnival joke: Atalanta has to marry Kingprotea, BB is in charge of organizing wedding and the rest of the Sakura Five are bridesmaids aka have to make sure Atalanta doesn't escape.
Blackbeard, Absolute Disgusting Degenerate that he is, is well aware that his kink is not everyone else's kink, and so after finding some improperly tagged Smut or Hentai, decides to make a video about the importance of tagging, what it means, and how to do it, because tagging your shit properly means that everyone can enjoy themselves in peace, so long as they use the blacklist. (This just kinda came to me TBH, Cause Blackbeard just kinda feels like he'd take proper tagging very seriously given everything about him.)
Fun fact: "thou" and "thy" and such were actually the informal register - "you" and "your" were the fancy, polite terms. Therefore, someone should write a fic of First Hassan trying to seem hip and chill and failing catastrophically because his understanding of what counts is hundreds of years out of date.
UDK Barghest gets hired to Put out a Fire (Read: Help Melusine with her Draconic Heat). Whether it goes full smut or if it goes in a comedic non sexy route is up to the author
Smut, Yu Mei-Ren has Hella Gay Sex with her Summer Variant. (Not NTR, though I'm not sure who all would consider it such anyway since its self on self.)
One of the Draconic/Lizard Servants installs a heat lamp in their room, because if you've got a tech wizard who will do anything for you, why not? After approximately 10-ish seconds of "why didn't I think of this before" from all the other Dragon-type servants, everyone immediately rushes to said room. Ensue dogpile of like, 20 lizard people (including Oberon and Rasputin for some reason??? gotta love traits) whether this is horny or not is up to the writer.
Smut, On their big day, a bride is stressed about the whole event and is this close to calling it quits. Habetrot can't have this so obviously there's one solution: cocksleeve time!
Barghest is openly lamenting in the hallway about how she can never be close to master or anyone else she loves bc of her bestiary nature and how she wishes she could keep herself in check. Scathach hears this and goes "Say no more" and puts her in a collar leash and muzzle. She's trained dogs before
Gudako tries her hardest to be Titania for Oberon. Oberon has Opinions about this. (I'll leave it to the prompt filler if these opinions are Positive, Negative, or Mixed.)
What started as a tiny fight "for charity" between Hektor and Achilles soon turns brutal as Achilles starts to truly want to kill Hektor. Paris, Manricardo, Alexander, and even Penth try to step in to stop him
Some asshole tries to threaten Guda only for them to reply and I quote "I'm not scared of Death, we have Tea on the weekends" Smash cut to them actually having tea with King Hassan, Eresh and Shiki. Whether Guda got hurt or not by the threatener ill leave up to the author.
How did Mel get access to Nemos aircraft carrier? Mysteriously kiss-covered Nemos refuse to answer (Note: all of em are adults)
Fun fact: Sastoria's NP is most effective against Summer Hokusai as she is both Chaotic, Divine, and a Threat to Humanity. Sooooo one-sided jealousy where Sastoria hates Saber Hokusai and Hokusai can't figure out why
Because I don't think we'll see him this summer. What summer side adventure is Kadoc doing? Who with him is you to the author.
Melusine's dragon nature means she likes building a hoards of all the things precious to her. now that she feels comfortable in Chaldea she can't help but gather all the people she likes to cuddle together with in bed with. Who ends up in her cuddle pile is up to y'all
Vlad is talked into going on a boat ride to relax. Everyone on the boat is very uncomfortable with this
Anything involving Ritsuka having extreme mommy issues
so Chloe's whole... thing... is "justified" in-universe as she needs magic to stay stable, so she gets it by doing... that. Ergo, I want to see something where she's summoned in Chaldea and thus hooked up to a stable magic supply, so she doesn't have to do that anymore and gets to actually Process and maybe just Be A Kid instead.
Other
I kinda just wanna say “Galehaut” and watch what the Fate fandom does with the idea of the half-giant king that only didn’t overthrow Camelot because he wanted to bone Lancelot. So I will.
Kinks are known to suddenly appear and develop with age, so: Older version of a servant helping unlock a kink for their younger self
can we get some consensual hypnokink content, perhaps? maybe someone has a kink for being hypnotized and wants so badly to hand over control for a little bit, or they're nervous about performing well during sex and just want to be more assured in themselves! how and why it's done is up to the author/artist as well as the characters, so long as there is consent established!

FGO Knight of Round Table if they have vision and views of Teyvat law towards them:
1. Artoria/Arthur:
Anemo or Electro. DEAD FRIEND, Even though being king weighed heavily on him/her, he/she still fought for his/her freedom. His/her strong will to create a utopia where the world is peaceful and prosperous could threaten the principle of heaven.
2. Gawain:
Pyro or Geo. His attitude is always cheerful, has a great passion in his field. After all he got the blessing of the sun. Moreover, he really sticks to his principles in serving his king. He would not change that principle until he died and he was loyal to the king. (Stubborn)
3. Galahad:
Dendro or Hydro. As someone who managed to reach the grail, it was certain that he gained knowledge beyond what humans could think of. His attitude is clean and remains holy. It seems his father, he will be fair. But his justice is beyond humanity.
4. Tristan:
Cyro. Having quite a tragic and sad past, has a cold appearance on the outside but full of love on the inside, elegant and beautiful, he looks always sad.
5. Percival:
Geo or Pyro. Tough, a little stubborn, stick to his principles. Also, he is a very cheerful and childlike person, very dedicated to children and giving them affection.
6. Gareth:
Pyro or Anemo. Cheerful, full of enthusiasm, has a great passion to become a strong knight. His attitude is always looking for his own way and seek freedom in his own life.
7. Agravain:
Electro. Does this have to be explained 🗿? He is a strict person. Dedicated to the mind and its king. He would be blind to everything for the sake of his king. Camelot's most influential aide in critical decision making.
8. Mordred:
Electro. Bro... She has same VA as Raiden Shogun 💀. Moreover, with an attitude like that it is still suitable to be paired with electro.
9. Kay:
Maybe Anemo or Cyro. A whiny person and always do as he pleases. It's not easy to set up and it doesn't want to be set up. He has his own outlook on life. But sometimes he felt contradictory to Artoria.
10. Gaheris:
Anemo or Cyro. He was very quiet, but he really knew what he had to do. He wants to be free and do whatever decision he chooses.
11. Palamedes:
Dendro or Anemo. He has the nickname knight of inquiry. He must have gained a lot of knowledge. He is free and can go wherever he wants. Always try to be a wise and good person. DEAD FRIEND
12. Bedivere:
Anemo or Dendro. DEAD FRIEND, always try to make wise decisions in solving problems, Be flexible and have integrity. Have a sense of freedom to achieve dreams.
13. Lancelot:
Celestia: "TF ELIGOS?! WE HAVE CUT YOUR HEAD AND REMOVED YOU FROM IRMINSUL. HOW DID YOU COME BACK HERE?!"
Lancelot: "I just do what must I do... No, I'm joking. You all must have mistaken me for the first true Hydro Archon."
Celestia: "You are lying! You are one of the Primordial One's creations."
Lancelot: "Seriously? I'm just knight here..."
Celestia: "Eligos (First hydro archon) is knight you damn..."
Lancelot: "... Damn you Da Wei! NO, I'M NOT!"
Celestia: "Then guess who replaced you as the first Hydro Archon in Irminsul's memory?
Lancelot: "Of course idk... Botis or Vine?"
Celestia: "YOU ANSWERED IT RIGHT!"
Lancelot: "WHAT?! SERIOUSLY? WAIT PLEASE... I'M NOT HYDRO ARCHON AS YOU KNOW."
Nasu: "How? Herrcsher or Archon, he can be anything."
Da Wei: "Yeah... Such a good and unique character."
What else could I think of for Lancelot in the world of Teyvat other than being an Archon candidate.
Fontaine comes from a French/English fusion which is where the legend of Lancelot originates. He is known as the adopted son of a lake nymph, Vivian. Of course that makes Lancelot like he has a water trait (hydro). Apart from that, Lancelot is known as a justice martyr as well as a formidable knight who will be true to his principles. Moreover, Hydro Archon's gnosis is predicted to become a horse (knight) from the slime theory. And Hydro Archon holds the name of God of Justice. And all the water gods that exist in European legends mostly come from Gaul. Sjit... I'm done... Let Okki-san cook again.

hi tell me about transversal trickshot please and what your thoughts are on which dave you chose to have that conversation thank you very much
omg okay i'd love to!!!
this is probably long so i will kindly put it under a cut!
it's probably not related to what you are asking but the name is also a joke specifically relating to the fact that bro was stabbed with his own sword crossways, lmfao (thus, transversal)
anyway!
basically, i picked Dave (god) for two reasons to start, and then it spiraled from there:
ONE, the last Actual Conversation he had with Bro from his point of view was a kind of fraught, awkward conversation in chapter 12, which was written to reflect the last time Dave remembers Bro treating him like a little kid (which is to say, with kindness) (and then does, in this scene, treat him like a little kid). that's some deep deserts lore bullshit, but there's a, waves hand, scene in katabasis that is being directly referenced here. not terribly important.
BUT u know his last interactions with him were like -> watch him almost die -> go back into time using powers he said he never wanted to use again and talk to Bro in this strange gentle way that was completely alien to him because neither of them know what to do or how to talk to each other -> watch him almost die but from future dave's perspective -> watch jane bring him back to live -> see him again and the first thing out of his mouth is "i'm glad you're not dead again"
Basically, he didn't get to have a conversation on the roof like Dave(sprite) did, and so i needed something, i suppose, that would let him connect with Bro, and Dave already had that, so it was his turn.
TWO: Rose lmfao. I had mad crazy plans early on for Rose and Bro, but it also involved tackling something i consider to be a problem in canon; once Rose started drinking, Dave started to retreat away from her, and he certainly didn't do shit to help. Dave is a coward. That's pretty much canon. He doesn't like confrontation, he's not any good at working out his friends’ problems, and he's selfish. But because he doesn't understand Rose, it leads to conflict, and because he can't talk to anyone else about it, it became easier, in that way, to talk to Bro, who he knew at this point, had at least some kind of past with Mom, who he knew is a (recovering) alcoholic.
This then led to The Sword, and a moment in time where Bro gets to see a peek at Dave, and his shame, and the thing that, at that moment in time, is quite literally weighing on him. if that makes sense???
also got to make a funny joke about bro and dirk a la lancelot vs galahad (arthurian legend jokes, caledfwlch, etc)
I wish I could explain how i tend to write conversations between characters but i guess just like. most of the time i do dialogue first and fill everything in later. this usually lets me kind of make sure we stay on track, or at least meander naturally, and then i can fill in what's going on in between, especially if there is a big pause!
So while it starts about Rose, it ends up involving the sword, and thus, the Nasty Death Scar, as it is so lovingly called in my household.
Part of the reason i would not think Dave(sprite) suitable for this is that while he is Dave, and is morbid, his current preoccupation with playing a hand in Bro's death would probably do nothing more than make him feel worse. also he's got his own scar, bro ain't special.
And also Dave, at this point specifically, still has all his crazy unresolved feelings relating to the sword, the fact that Bro doesn't seem bothered too badly by his own death (though we find out later this is not true) and he just. Is gross. LOL i love him but Dave is gross.
I think by seeing Bro's scar, he can kind of like. confirm in a weird way that the event Actually Happened, and that it's over, and that Bro is here, and is alive. That there isn't just a huge fucking hole punched through his abdomen and that Dave isn't insane?? you know??
also references to signs at sundown, my beloved <3
and then of course at the end we see Bro offer a little piece of himself that Dave has never known, although rng is intentionally littered with these, one of my big things with the Strangeness between bro and the daves is that they don't Really Know him as a person. they know bro as BRO the guardian, BRO the person who "trained" (yikes) them, but they don't know anything else about him. This is common with kids as they grow up, as we learn that our parents used to be kids, too. So that one little nametag, handed over begrudgingly, maybe a little embarrassingly, is Bro giving Dave a little piece of himself at that age, something that at this point, this Dave needs desperately. He's already jealous of DS, though it'll take him time to realize it, and so it was important for him to have this conversation with Bro, and to see him as human.
I hope any of this was anything!!! and also sorry it's so long!

Chapter 1
25 years later
Harry Hart had adapted pretty well to his new life as Arthur. Well, considering that he had come back from the dead, found out his boss and mentor was a traitor and so were another 4 members of the Kingsman and had to basically restructure the whole agency, he thought he was doing very well.
But this? Fuck.
Seriously. Fucking fuck.
He was not paid to deal with this kind of shit.
Except that… He was. Kind of.
This was a mess.
Could he die again? Please?
Harry took a deep breath and reminded himself that he was not a little boy, to be whining about things. He was the leader of this damn agency and he was going to act like one, goddamn it!
His pep talk lasted for about 50 seconds, just enough time to enter the meeting room and see the other agents there, looking at him with the utmost trust.
Shit.
After the V-Day they found out just how deep the corruption of the agency ran. After the dust had settled they looked for the other agents and found 4 of them dead, heads blown.
Another knife in the back.
So there were only eight of them left and it was not enough, not with the mess that was left behind, not with an agency that had lost its faith in its values. Arthur needed more, but his agents had run dry. They had nothing else to give.
He couldn’t ask for anything more, and yet…
Here he was, about to ask anyway.
Lord, Merlin was going to kill him.
“We have a situation.” He declared directly, choosing not to waste anyone’s time with long speeches.
“Fuck’s sake, Arthur.” Eggsy groaned. “What now?”
After everything the boy had done for the agency it seemed only logical that he deserved his place among them. Harry was to become Arthur anyway, so the boy took the name of Galahad.
Fair was fair in Harry's book.
Besides the boy they had Lancelot, Urien, Gareth, Bors, Percival, Dagonet and Caradoc left. Urien and Caradoc had almost killed each other during the whole V-Day thing and weren’t on speaking terms at the moment, but at least they were here.
Merlin was also there, not sitting at the table, just on the corner, like he always did. “What’s the problem, Arthur?” He asked, his voice so calm, so focused. Harry had been leaning heavily on Merlin these days. He couldn’t do all of this if his friend wasn’t there with him.
“The MI-6.” Harry spoke softly.
“What?” Bors demanded, standing up.
“What do they want?” Urien asked, incensed.
“What they always wanted, obviously.” Percival spoke, his voice carefully unconcerned. “To control us.”
“The problem is that now they can.” Harry informed them all.
“I beg your pardon?” Merlin arched a brow.
“What is going on exactly?” Roxy asked Harry.
“We always had a bit of a problem with the MI-6.” Harry informed the youngest agents. “They’ve been trying to control us for many years. They want to use us.”
“And we’ve managed to escape that so far, so what has changed?” Gareth demanded.
“V-Day.” Harry sighed. “And the fact that Arthur was part of it.”
“Shit.” Bors cursed.
“So what are they saying?” Merlin wanted to know.
On the outside he looked pretty calm, Harry observed, however he knew Merlin better than anyone else. His voice was cold, bordering on freezing. His friend was pissed and he knew exactly why.
“We have no idea who else was involved in this on their side.” Harry explained. “They said that there wasn’t anyone, but we know that’s bullshit. Either way, they insist that this is the result of them being ‘too complacent’ with us.”
“Being too what?” Eggsy sputtered.
“If we don’t accept their terms we’re going to be considered criminals and they’ll do whatever is necessary to destroy all of us.” Harry finished. “With the Interpol and CIA’s full cooperation.”
“What the fuck?” Eggsy got up and slammed his palms on the table. “They can’t do that.”
“Technically they can.” Dagonet, who had remained silent until then, finally said. “We have no ties with governments or any kind of supervision. From a different perspective we’re nothing but a bunch of vigilantes at best and terrorists at worst.”
“So what, Harry?” Roxy asked, clearly worried. “What are they asking of us?”
“Our full cooperation.” Harry informed, sarcasm heavy on his voice. “They didn’t actually ask anything, per se. They mostly offered help.”
Nobody spoke a word, but it was very obvious their opinion on the matter.
“Help?” Percival prompted him.
“They offered to ‘lend’ us two experienced agents and two candidates for new positions.” Harry couldn’t keep his frustration from his voice anymore. “They made a point of saying that we don’t have to keep the candidates if we don’t want to, but that they are great assets.”
“And that way they have four agents inside our house.” Caradoc rolled his eyes.
“Actually…” Harry cleared his throat. “Five. They’ll send in a handler for them, as well as a liaison.”
Bors was observing Harry very carefully and Gareth and Caradoc traded looks, but it was Dagonet who asked. “Something wrong, Arthur?”
“We know the handler.” He admitted.
Merlin finally stopped pretending he was looking at his tablet and looked at Harry. “Who is it?” He demanded.
“Merlin, I tried to…”
“Harry.” His voice was a blade.
Roxy and Eggsy were looking at him in shock, because they’d never seen Merlin act like this, especially towards Harry.
“It is Valentina.” Harry said at last.
Gareth was spluttering from his place and Bors was yelling ‘no way in hell’, while Roxy and Eggsy just stayed there, mostly confused, and Merlin…
Well, Merlin had no expression on his face. He didn’t move, didn’t say a word. Then he just started walking towards the door without saying one word. He left the room and slammed the door so hard that Harry thought it was going to fall from its hinges.
“Shit.” Harry grumbled under his breath.
The other agents were looking in shock at the door, even Dagonet, who most of the time was impossible to read.
“Is this a bad moment to ask who this Valentina is?” Roxy asked.
“Valentina Rizzo?” Urien’s voice was full of derision. “Just the only Guinevere we’ve ever had in here.”
Eggsy and Roxy looked at each other. “Well, fuck.” Eggsy murmured.
Fuck indeed.

If only I knew what my heart was telling me
Tumblr media
Summary: Living in Arcadia I never thought that living below the city was a city of trolls. Now it seems that everyone or everything trying to end to the world in Arcadia. But despite all of that i knew that I could always count on the friends in my life to help me. But now the world is coming to an end again but this time it just might actually happen.
“I don’t know Claire. It was just the past Douxie that called me pretty.” I said. “If the past Douxie thinks you’re pretty than I’m sure our Douxie thinks you’re pretty too.” Claire said. “When we get back to our time I’ll talk to him” I said. The party kept riding until we reached Killahead Bridge where we came to a stop. Lancelot got off his horse and drew his sword as he started to look around hoping to find one of the escaped prisoners. I looked over to Claire who had the same look that I did. Hoping that Lancelot wouldn’t find anyone. Then Lancelot started making his way over to a tree when Jim was pushed out from behind a tree. “Aha! Oh he-hello!” Jim said waving at us “Get them!” Arthur yelled. Everyone started to chase them. Claire and I chased them. Then I say Douxie and Archie ride past us. My horse came to a stop in front of a creepy looking woods. “They’ve entered the wild wood. Abandon the horses. We head on foot.” Arthur said. I swung my foot around hoping down from my horse. “Forget him. Stick to the plan.” I heard Douxie say as I saw Merlin walked past me. Well this could be better. “I’ll take the king.” Douxie said as he hopped down from his horse. “I’ll cover Morgana.” Claire said. “I’ll keep us all from dying.” I said. “And let’s just focus on getting these royal siblings to hug and make up.” Archie said. “And not die.” Claire said. “Uh yes that too.” Archie said. “How could you have forgotten that Archie.” I said as I helped Claire down from her horse. Archie jumped down for Douxie’s shoulder as Douxie walked up to Arthur and Steve finally caught up to us. “About time Steve.” I said as Claire followed Morgana. “What are those two doing?” Steve asked. “Trying to get Arthur and Morgana to make up.” I said. “Easier said than done.” Steve said. “You’re telling me.” I said.
No Ones POV
After and try and fail from both Claire and Douxie. Douxie had to think up of another way to the Morgana and Arthur to make up to save the timeline so the four of them can get back to their timeline. “Mm not much love left between them. If only you could make him remember that good old days.” Archie said as he a Douixe came across a tree with Arthur, Gwen and Morgana names carved into it then jumped off of Douxie’s shoulder. “Maybe I can.” Douxie said putting his hand on the tree as magic came from his cuff and turned the carved names glow blue then went back to normal. Douxix turned around to face Arthur. “Say my liege didn’t you used to spend time in this wood?” Douxie asked but already knowing the answer. “Yes. As a boy. Much time was lost in this accursed forest. I often fled to these woods to escape form growing responsibilities.” Arthur said walking over to tree. Douxie moved closer to Claire as Arthur had touched the tree so it would start to so the enchantment that Douxie put on it. Arthur let out a gasp as blue light emerged from the tree causing the other knights to cry in fear. The sounds of children laugher could be heard. Merlin looked over to Douxie knowing that he must have been the one to cause this. Douxie looked at Merlin giving him the sign of the horns while sticking his tongue out. Merlin rolled his eyes and let out a scoff. “Stand down. We’re not in danger. Uh my lord.” Merlin said as he walked up to Arthur but Arthur had put his sword up stopping Merlin from coming any closer to him. The three children came out from behind the tree. “Gwen. My betrothed. My beloved. She was the heart of me.” Arthur said as the children chased each other around then the little brother carved the names into the tree. The two little girls ran through Morgana. “Mm we loved these woods. The freedom they offered. The wood showed us kindness for our courage. Gwen and I were never scared. ” Morgana said. As everyone watched the children version of Gwen and Morgana as they went up to Nari. Nari smiled kindly at the two as she hopped down from the rock she was on. “Arthur however.” Morgana said as the child version of Arthur went after Nari. “I knew what danger lurked in the darkness. As we grew older and duty kept me inside Morgana encouraged Gwen brought her out when she should have stayed safe within Camelot.” Arthur said as older version of Gwen and Morgana appeared. “Arthur always blamed me for our moonlight trips. But that night it was Gwen pulling me out of the door.” Morgana said as Gwen tripped over a root and fell into a hole below. Douxie had glanced over to Y/n who was standing by Steve watching the story unfold. “We’d stumbled into a stalking nest. It was afraid.” Morgana. “That night Gwen went into the woods and never returned. You sister should have known better.” Arthur said. “You never forgave me. And when my own gifts blossomed you saw yet another abomination. Ordered Merlin to teach me to control that part of me though Gwen loved magic as I did.” Morgana said as she walked up to the projection of Gwen creating a flower with her magic. Arthur following behind her. “Yes. Yes she did. I. I miss her terribly.” Arthur said as the projection that Douxie casted faded. “As do I brother.” Morgana said as she and Arthur looked at each other. Arthur gave her a small smile in return. Douxie and Claire quickly turned around to check the time map. The timeline were both Arthur and Morgana lived was still up. “It’s working.” Douxie said. At that moment Lancelot came running back. “Troll! We found one!” Lancelot cried out. Arthur let out a growl. “I will lose no one else to those creatures. To arms.” Arthur said walking away from Morgana. Then the time map went back to show the timeline where Arthur will die. “No no no no no! Not now!” Douxie said. “Oh no! Jim.” Claire said as she ran forward. Right as Douxie was about to close the time map another timeline showed up. This one now showing Y/n with the Arcane Order. Y/n no longer looked like herself. Her face was sunken in some and void of any emotion. Her eyes looked dead and almost black not the green that Douxie always loves looking into. “No no no. Oh fuzz buckets.” Douxie said. “How are you going to stop that?” Archie asked. “I don’t know Arch.” Douxie said closing the time map. “Are you going to tell her?” Archie asked. “No. I’m going to stop it so I don’t have to tell her.” Douxie said. “Yes because keeping something like this from her will definitely get her to like you more.” Archie said. “Wait do you know something I don’t Arch?” Douxie asked. “I guess they were right true love is blind.” Archie said walking away.
End of No Ones POV
I was standing behind Steve and Claire was next to me. I looked around to try to find Douxie but I didn’t see him. “Where’s Douxie.” I whispered to Claire. Claire also looked around. “I don’t know I could have sworn that he was right behind me.”  Claire whispered back right as Douxie and Archie caught up to us. “Steady men! Remember your training. Kill the beast!” Lancelot yelled. As the knights ran forward. “Wait kill? I thought this was catch and release!” Steve yelled as Morgana, Claire, Douxie and I ran following the knights to stop them from killing anyone. I looked to see one of Gunmar soldiers as one of the knight shout an arrow at it making it grunt out in pain. Three other knights started to put chains around it. “Take the best down.” Arthur said. “Arthur no!” Morgana cried out. “Squire Steve will you do the honors?” Lancelot asked as he threw a sword to Steve. The troll lunged at Steve making him scream as he fell back. Arthur had stepped in between them. “Careful young. Show these beats no sympathy.” Arthur said. Then Arthur kick the troll in the chest making it step backward into the sunlight. “Huzzah! Huzzah!” Arthur and the knights said lifting their swords in the air. I started to hear growling I looked over to see Bular coming out for where Steve. “Steve look out!” I screamed. Bular picked Steve up by his shoulder and threw him. “Bular the Butcher!” Lancelot call out. “The Gumm-Gumm prince himself!” Galahad said. Bular ran at Arthur. Arthur tried to hit Bular with his sword Bular jumped over him bringing out his sword swinging it at Arthur. Then everyone tried to fight him. “I’ll drink your blood out of a goblet made of your skull!” Bular said as he fought Arthur. Bular knocked Arthur sword out of his hand then knock him to the ground. Bular walked over to Arthur picking him up by the throat and slamming him against a tree. “I’ll crave you open let your guts spill out!” Bular said. “My king.” Galahad yelled. “Arthur!” Lancelot yelled. Bular drew his sword back then tried to stab Arthur but I used my magic to stop his sword and Douxie was using his to keep Bular’s arm in place. “There’s no spilling anything today!” Douxie yelled. Merlin used his magic to create a seal as Douxie pull Bular back trapping him in the seal. Bular they to get out but didn’t. “Finish it then fleshbag!” Bular yelled. “The spwan of Gunmar. I won’t dull Excalibur’s edge with you.” Arthur said as he picked up his sword walking over to Bular and kicked him in the face. Bular let out a grunt. “Drag this monster back to Camelot! I have plans for him. The rest with me! My blade hungers.” Arthur said putting Excalibur up in the air. “As you wish milord. Onward!” Lancelot said. “Who’s the monster here?” Morgana said.
We walked for a bit before Lancelot found some tracks. “These tracks are fresh! The other beasts can’t be far milord. Best we spread out flank them!” Lancelot said as he got up. “Go.” Arthur said as the knight that were left started to go looking for the other trolls.  As Morgana and Claire walked past him Arthur stopped them. “And you time to pick a side. You would do well not to return with a clean sword.” Arthur said. Morgana glared at him as she walked away. Morgana, Claire, Douxie and Merlin went one way while I went with Steve, Lancelot, Galahad and Arthur. For some reason they had let Steve take the lead. “Great we’re going to die,” I said quietly to myself as we came to a path I didn’t like to look of. “This area is dangerous but there’s no way around.” Lancelot said. Steve cleared his throat. “Fear not for Steve will scout the enemy base.” Steve said walking forward. “Hold squire. Watch out for the.” Lancelot said. But Steve had went ahead walking forward setting off traps that sent Porcupine like needles shooting at Steve. I heard everyone wince. Then it turned into laughter from Lancelot and Galahad. Arthur looked done with this all. I was just used to Steve being well Steve. Steve finally fell face first into the ground. “That one’s gotta hurt!” Galahad said as he and Lancelot with up to Steve each one grabbing an arm. “Well done Squire Steve. Now the path’s clear.” Lancelot said as he and Galahad start dragging Steve along. “I love you guys. You guys are my best friends.” Steve said. After we got through that path came getting those needles out of Steve. Which they looked to me to get them out. Lancelot and Galahad got Steve into a standing up position. I let out a breathe as I cross my arms into a x form then quickly broke them apart as my magic ripped out a the needles at once making Steve whimper in pain. “Sorry about that Steve I tried to make it as painless as I could.” I said. “No no. I get it.” Steve said still in pain. Lancelot walked away. Steve and I followed him. From where we were I could see Jim with that female troll that he escaped with. “But you see? They’re not all bad.” Jim said. “Shh I’ve got one in my sights.” Lancelot said to Steve and I. “This one’s sort of sweet.” The female troll said. “uh oh no what do I do, what do I do?” Steve said. Making me roll my eyes. “Such conflict. Oh snap! Uh mosquito!” Steve yelled smacking Lancelot in the face. Which made Lancelot release the arrow. But the time I tried to use my magic the change the direction to the arrow it had already hit the female troll. “Clumsy jackanapes!” Lancelot yelled at Steve. Lancelot tried to shot another arrow but Steve did the same thing. I took that to sneak away. I had jumped down to the ground below using my magic to soften the fall and not break my legs. I ran toward where Jim and the female troll ran to. I saw Jim on the ground. “Jim.” I said. Jim had turned to look at me and I saw that his eyes were red.

Office AU: The Flicky
Arthur: Okay. One more time from the top.
Lamorak: I come in nice and early for once in my life--
Arthur: Suspicious, but continue.
Lamorak: Fuck you, boss.
Lamorak: So I go to my desk and other people are going around, doing whatever, and I hear this weird noise, and I don’t know if it’s, like, the pipes warming up after being off all night--
Arthur: Not how it works, but go on.
Lamorak: Shut your trap and let me finish, I swear to Chaos.
Lamorak: But Tris hears it, too, and she’s looking at me like I’ve done something wrong.
Arthur: *opens mouth, then closes it again*
Lamorak: Good call.
Lamorak: So I go to investigate, I hear it coming louder from the supply closet, so I open it, and a goddamn Flicky flies out and keeps bumping into shit! Everyone’s running around and screaming because no one knows what to do, and now we’ve lost the damn thing.
Arthur: Okay, that matches what the others have told me. I just have one question.
Lamorak: Shoot.
Arthur: Why did you freak out as well? Since you’re, you know, also a bird?
Lamorak: ...
Lamorak: BITCH--
...................
Merlina: I called the animal control center and they told me that our best bet is to try to lure it to an open window if possible.
Gareth: I’ll send out a memo to everyone to keep all windows open. It’s more likely that this one will fly out than others flying in.
Gareth: I should also make a search party for it, so that we can get updated when it’s out.
Merlina: Good thinking. Who can we spare?
Gareth: Bedivere finished all his analysis reports yesterday, so he should have time to spare before the new data come in. Guin doesn’t have a meeting until after lunch, so if she’s prepared to start already, she could hopefully lend a hand.
Merlina: The sales team is out, as is the design team. Accounting might be able to lend a hand, even though I’m not sure if Geraint is the right kind of person for this job. And I don’t think Gawain is, either... No offense, but he seems like the sort who would punch it out of the air if it startled him.
Gareth: No, you’re entirely right.
Merlina: ...
Merlina: You didn’t... even hesitate to not refute that.
Merlina: Is there something I don’t know about?
Gareth: *sips some water* I’ll have this memo out in a flash.
Merlina: Gareth!
...........................................
Tristan: I was sure this was a prank.
Tristan: Guin, Lamorak, Geraint, even Arthur... not to be trusted.
Tristan: Which is why when Lamorak started screeching louder than anyone else, I was surprised enough to remain calm.
Tristan: I took a picture of him.
Tristan: *lifts her phone*
Tristan: It’s my new lock screen.
..................................
Kay: When I got the call from the building about everything, I was sure they wanted me to take a look.
Kay: Instead, they wanted to watch the morning tapes to see if they could find when the flicky went inside.
Kay: Even though I’m pretty sure it came in some other way. I’ve dealt with a few over the course of my life.
Kay: I’m sure I could have helped them out a lot, but... *shrugs* Their loss.
.........................
Smithy: I wish I could say that this incident has given me new ideas for products.
Smithy: Unfortunately, it didn’t.
Smithy: We’re going to stick to our ‘exaggerated family overreacting in an infomercial’ bit when it comes to wild flickies for a little longer until I sort this out.
......................
Guin: I can’t believe it.
Lancelot: *hiding his face*
Guin: I am. Astounded.
Lancelot: *doesn’t move*
Guin: Out of everyone in this office, out of all the windows we opened and the lights we switched off and the search parties we sent out... Galahad found the poor thing and just. Picked it up and let it out.
Lancelot: *lifts his tear-stained face* I love my son so much.
Guin: You really lucked out with that one.
Lancelot: I know.
.................
Galahad: Turns out, Gamma made a nest nearby!
Galahad: Oh! Gamma’s the name I gave to the flicky. It’s an hommage to Omega. Greek letter names are pretty cool! Also we’re learning about Ancient Greece in school so it all fit together.
Galahad: I visit Gamma every once in a while and take a picture to see how they’re doing. Maybe I’ll even see some baby birds in the spring!
Galahad: I’ll tell you one thing, though. #Galarad has spiked in followers since I added Gamma to my posts. It’s amazing! People really like this little bird!
Galahad: I can’t wait to see how they grow up. Maybe they’ll recognise me, even in old age.
Galahad: *smiles*

Fucknemies part II
Long time no see! This is part two of my series Fucknemies, following Harry Hart and Agent Kay (haven’t named her; don’t think i will at this stage).
You can find part I here.
Enjoy!
Summary: Agent Kay wakes up after being shot. Harry and her have a heart to Hart.
Word count: 1.2 k
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
Kay woke up with the disagreeable sensation of having drunk too much. The feeling was so unnatural that she laid there for a few minutes, wondering why she had broken her lifelong promise to never drink.
“Who’s the moron who got me drunk last night?” she moaned pitifully, the pain in her body becoming more of a background lull as she heard someone fidget with something by the side of her bed.
“No one mate, you did this all by yourself.”
A brief silence.
“Eggsy?”
“Yeah. Welcome back to the world bruv. Happy you’re not dead.”
“Why would I be dead?”
“Cuz you took a bullet, you moron. In the thigh. Brushed the artery and it wasn’t pretty. Ya should have heard Harry swear.”
“Well, fuck.”
“You don’t say. How are you feeling?”
“Like a train hit me and then decided once wasn’t enough.”
“Rox said the same when she was shot. Said it felt like a really, really bad hangover except you didn’t even have the blessings of oblivion.”
“Pretty much, yeah.”
Kay cleared her throat. Immediately, someone had a glass of water ready. She hadn’t noticed the shadow on her right. Opening her eyes slightly and wincing against the brightness of the room, she could just about make out who it was.
“Harry?”
Eggsy shot him a questioning look. He’d never heard Kay call Harry by his name. She’d always made a point of using his code name, always with the same slightly sarcastic tone which infuriated him. Now she was almost… shy? Unsure?
“You need to rest. We just came in to see if you were stable.”
That was a lie and they all knew it.
“And the monitors couldn’t tell you that?”
“Couldn’t stop him, bruv.”
There was another silence. Eggsy stood up, clearing his throat.
“I promised Merlin I’d pop by. He’s got a new contraption to test and I pissed him off.”
“Thought I did that.”
“Yeah well you’d already paid enough for that, I reckon.”
Kay heard the infirmary door close softly. Harry shifted in his sit, toying with the end of his tie as he took in Kay’s pale face. her features were tight, no doubt controlling the pain. He’d upped the morphine as much as he dared and was frustrated he couldn’t do anything else for her.
So he said the only thing he felt was appropriate at this moment.
“I’m sorry.”
At that, Kay opened her eyes fully, trying to focus on him. He could see her wince and then force her eyes open to stare at him.
“Whatever do you have to be sorry for? I wasn’t careful enough, and you know that.”
“I should have been there. We should never have split up, it was too dangerous.”
Kay breathed out, reminding herself that this wasn’t Galahad patronizing her or taking too much upon his own shoulders, but her partner feeling guilty that he wasn’t by her side at the right moment.
“Wasn’t your fault, Harry. It was a risky move and the com with Merlin cut off at the worst moment possible. I also should have checked that I wasn’t being followed, but I didn’t do it.”
“If it wasn’t my fault, it certainly wasn’t yours.”
“I was reckless -”
“No, you were determined. And brave.”
“And reckless.”
Kay felt more than she saw the slight smile form on his lips.
“Alright, and maybe a little bit reckless. But that’s why you’re better at that sort of mission than me.”
“You over analyse everything.”
“I don’t” he said, on the defensive again, before understanding her meaning. “Maybe I do. I’ve just never seen it as a problem before.”
“It can be.”
Kay let the double-entendre hang in the air. She hoped he would understand what she was trying to tell him. She didn’t have the energy to try harder.
Harry held his breath. He remembered what Merlin had told him after he’d brought Kay in: you’re mad about her, she’s mad about you, so you fight because none of you can see how much you mean to each other.
Did he mean something to her? And what did she mean to him?
She was willful, strong, reckless and beautiful. He was calculated, poised and calm. Or at least he liked to think he was. She probably didn’t perceive him as such. She’d called him cold on many occasions; told him he needed to understand where she came from and why she made her way through life as she did. She’d told him it was because she knew that each moment of freedom was precious. She was tired of being careful. Tired of tiptoeing around other people.
He was the opposite. Tiptoeing was his speciality. He was careful around others, had trouble understanding them sometimes. At least outside of his work, where understanding could mean either life or death. But he felt that calm was necessary to him and caution something not to be taken lightly. Death left too many behind, and he couldn’t help but be afraid of how reckless she could be.
During her moments of lucidity and reflection, Kay had come to grips with the differences existing between them. She knew it would take work, but what in this life didn’t? What was worth it always did.
He meant something to her. He meant a great deal. But she didn’t know what she meant to him.
“I know.”
She looked at him, surprised. He leaned in closer. Hesitantly, he took one of her hands in his, holding it gently.
“I don’t mean to sound snobbish. It’s just my way of protecting myself.”
“Why?”
“This… this job, this life … you can lose so much if you care too much. I appear distant because I prefer to keep my feelings at bay.”
“That can’t be healthy.”
Harry chuckled, squeezing her hand.
“It’s not.”
She focused on the feel of his fingers caressing her bruised knuckles. He palmed one bruise gently, as if to test if it hurt. When she didn’t wince, he resumed his caresses.
“But it’s easier for you?”
Her question surprised him. He hadn’t expected her to understand so quickly.
“Yes.”
“But is that appearance of calm and detachment what’s easier, or is it simply not feeling? Or not allowing yourself to feel?”
He knew a lot depended on his answer. If he was honest with himself, he knew he wanted more. He wanted more out of life than his work. For nearly thirty years now he’d been so consumed by it; so afraid to care. He’d lost many friends. Lately, he’d lost Lancelot. That had been a blow. But he had never allowed himself to care more deeply for another agent. He’d never allowed himself to hope for love, not once. Until he met her.
“I know I’m fooling myself, if that’s what you’re asking.”
She laughed, a delightful sound after so much silence.
“Yes, you are.”
She was right and there was nothing he could say in his defense.
“So where does that leave us, Harry?”
She brought his hands closer to her body, lacing her fingers with his own.
“I can’t promise to be less myself, just like you can’t simply let go of your fears. What do we do with that?”
He paused, contemplating.
“We can try?”
She smiled in response.
Stay tuned for part III!

Le Morte d’Arthur Thoughts P5
Book 2 Chapter 11
Where's her fifth son
Who
How is this supposed to be all Owain because I know they change his name every now and then don't they
Arthur has masonry skills
I didn't know that it was a lot that died I thought Pellinore had died and I was just like now I don't really care – I didn’t like Lot
Is Balin trying to kill Arthur because if he is then why did he run from Arthur’s Castle surely he would just stab him and then leave ?
Oh no, I liked the other one I get their names mixed up
oh that's so cool. you know what else will do that cling film
Wait so Arthur doesn't ever have excalibur's scabbard Morgan le Fay gives it to her lover that’s low key really smart and wow I applaud her
Book 2 Chapter 12
7 chapters more I don't know I haven't counted actually that's a lie
Oh no Arthur’s sick no
look I know this is the beginning of Hamlet so if he gets poison in the ear he's gonna die
I'm sorry you know just big rip
Okay if people can just walk in and on their horses – this is a really shitty Castle
I'm so confused I thought he wanted to kill Arthur but now he doesn't want to kill Arthur where's his brother gone I'm so confused
‘By my head’ he would say by my beard but he doesn't have one ha ha ha
Wait what will you do
um wait so he doesn't hate Arthur but he ran away from Arthur because reasons Arthur imprisoned him and then he got a cursed sword from ‘the falsest damsel that liveth’ so now they’re just chilling and they’re friends in this? I think I prefer it when people sleep with other people’s wives because then I know they hate each other, you know
I'm not gonna lie I don't know what I just read but is that new for me?
Confused counter: 10
Book 2 Chapter 13
don't you hate it when you get to a new castle and its customary for you to bleed before you can enter
Oh no I think I understand wait maybe
I don't think Gawain hasn’t killed Pellinore apparently he's still going to which is confusing
also isn't this a blood feud at this point is it's there's just a lot of ‘this person will kill this person because they killed this person’ and you're like ‘ohh no…who is this person’ you get me?
Alas indeed yeah like why are these like prophecies coming to people who are going to die. You just can't give this message to anyone because they don't know half of the people it's like it's like giving your McDonald's order to the wrong table and being like well can you just go give that to the right table then without telling them who the right table is how is that gonna help anyone in anyway why can't you just take it back and give it to the right table you're the one who's better suited to this than me (but I would probably be like yeah and then if they told me that I would probably but like – that's besides the point I'm just really polite but you know) it's just kinda like why why why
I love that word so much portcullis
oh shit he got trapped under it
The requirements for these curses are so specific yet so general at the same time And I love it but also like how is how like why isn't anyone going out to solve these themselves why does everyone have to stay where they are can no one like leave their houses to go solve their problems have some agency people
I like how they just bring up people that we're not gonna meet for probably half a book like ohh yeah by the way possible is going to help play okay also it spelt Percivale and I love that
Book 2 Chapter 14
That's such a great name
oh he – he kills him
what
please chapter titles getting weirder and weirder
I feel like balling deserves more recognition true he's going out like just murdering a bunch of people which is kind of weird because like what's your reason behind this but at the same time like he's got a pretty cool Storey
you just know him casual
this King is so forthcoming with knowledge like ah I know exactly what you mean yeah let me tell you the Storey of how I smoothed my brother twice haha
They say smoked him with the back of his hand what they really mean is they just slapped him add it hurt but they want to sound hardcore say it makes him sound like he slapped him with fire but you just slapped him and it hurt and there's no shame in that we don't judge here
All these confrontations happen so fast
Book 2 Chapter 15
Yeah he deserves that
This spear is overpowered I would like this fear please um it's just so cool thank you very much
I feel like it's a bit traumatising to be saved by Merlin after being trapped with a dead body for three days or is really gotta start smelling by then especially as it's under the earth so it's very hot and so decompose quicker I just yeah that doesn't sound fun you know
Book 2 Chapter 16
I really can't tell whether or not Merlin loves or hates Balin because you know I love him um but you know I understand why people might not he is a bit of a crazy man I think someone I can tell
Oh no Oh my God my God God
fun have I got a picture on next page? No.
Yes King you tell that creepy swamp monster what's what
that's a bit of an oof moment
oh this is the Fisher King everything makes sense now ohmygod can we take numbers away from the confused counter it's all just wow Oh my God this is genius
I'm so easily impressed I just need things to make sense at this point in this book and I'll just be like wow
nothing good ever happens to this man nothing
Balin curse counter: 4
He must just really hate himself if you really think about all because he just took a sword from the ‘falsest damsel that liveth’
just live in the forest then no one can hurt you and you can hurt no one

Eve
everyone is just like you're so cool he's also really cursed
I keep thinking about 90 day fiancé

anyway I keep thinking about 90 day fiancé and really I just don't like big head he's funny as a concept but as a person he's a bit of a dick and I'm so happy that rose managed to you know get out there that relationship because he was just a bit of an asshole really wasn't he?
anyway back to the book um Balin bout to kill a woman just because she wasn't on time and if that was the case then all of my friends would be dead because I am always early

Oh no that's so mean ‘the foulest knight that he ever saw’ like dude calm yourself
All of these superlatives before we even get to the good parts (when I say good parts I mean the parts people know the most so like Gawain and Galahad and Lancelot and the other ones) we've already had ‘the falsest damsel’ and ‘the foulest knight’ and the’ strongest King’ like we're just gonna have the kind of strong but not the strongest because the strongest is already dead you know
so, does that mean Lancelot isn't the best knight because Balin is
also this has a lot of like internal monologues in this I'm so sorry to everyone I really hope you've enjoyed this I've really cut down me talking because you know I don't want to bore you with my rants about superlatives
Book 2 Chapter 17
what the hell
he got so sad that his blood pressure shot so high that he started bleeding out of his mouth and nose I…find yourself a man who does that you know (jk don’t do that he’s probably not the healthiest in relationships)
everywhere he goes corpses follow
you killed her yourself it was your own choice to kill her
Now lady he swore fighting because last time he did that the that one Irish knight died and then his wife killed herself the knight his name was like Launcelot but it wasn't I Lancelone or something (some searching later) Lancelor
I don't know why but the very concept of putting a Knight and a horse in a boat together is just hilarious because I picture the boat being like a little row boat with the horse and then the knight sitting on the horses back full gear full saddle full Armour this boat is like barely floating and yeah it's just pretty funny
Book 2 Chapter 18

They meet in the hazy heat of summer, when they are both very young. Though the grass is green and birds and insects hum in merry harmony on the breeze, Galahad still can’t take his mind off the scrape that bleeds red on his knee - his mother will tell him that it’s nothing to worry about, because there are people who have gotten hurt worse. So he makes his way deeper in the woods. He knows the way back - just make his way back on the straggly dirt path till the pain fades.
And then there is the boy who he finds on the path, in a blue dress stained with dirt and too-long black hair bound in a braid that’s coming undone. What he notices first about the boy is his eyes: A dark shade of blue, but still soft and sincere. He blinks at Galahad - you look pathetic, he tells himself, crying in front of someone else because Mother says you’re too old to cry - and says nothing about his tear-streaked face and loud sniffling in the quiet of the woods.
Then he sticks his tongue and and squints, twisting his face and scrunching his eyes shut.
The pain is still there but Galahad laughs, and the boy laughs with him. He does not ask and does not care that the boy wears a dress or that his hair is too long, because surely that does not matter in the end. He just has someone to laugh with in the summer, someone who will let the black-spotted ladybugs crawl up their arms and draw pictures in the dirt with him.
“What’s your name?” he asks the boy, who shuffles his fistful of flowers.
“Percival.”
“That’s a nice name. Percival. ‘M Galahad.”
“I like your name, too.”
The summer heat may make Galahad’s eyelids flicker behind his spectacles, and when he gets home he will have to answer the questions about why his knee is covered in crusted-over blood. But at least he has a friend to explore other worlds with during the summer.
Autumn comes and Percival sees angels - that’s what he tells Galahad at least. They’re climbing trees even though Percival knows he’ll tear up his dress on it (he talks about how sometimes his mother gets visitors and always talks about her “daughters” but when the visitors are gone she talks about him as her son, and he doesn’t know what to make of it.) They spend their days treading the paths of imaginary worlds they can save, kindling their own warmth in the coming bitterness of winter.
“It was at night, and I swore they were angels - just with hidden wings. They rode horses and were so beautiful I wanted to join them. Mother told me I had to go back inside, that they were knights and I didn’t want any business with them.”
Galahad climbs down from the tree. Rough bark scrapes at his hands. Then he reaches the ground and sits cross-legged, staring up at Percival who still struggles to maintain balance. The leaves are afire in red and yellow and brown and cling to his hands and legs from the greasy drizzle that’s got them slicked with rain.
“Knights?”
“Yes, knights. I don’t understand why that sounds so strange to you.”
“Mother says I have to become a knight like my father did when I get older. And I’ll be off to train in Camelot when winter comes. Which means I won’t get to see you…”
“Unless I become a knight to join you.”
That’s the first time Galahad sees what others might see through the keyhole: Percival whose mother shoves him into dresses and hides him away from a world that may not be as thorny as she makes it out to be - because perhaps there are petals, too. At least that’s what Galahad believes. You just have to snip the thorns away and the flowers won’t prick your fingers. Still, though-
“How? You really think you could do it?”
Percival clasps hold of his hands, blue eyes shining at green. “I can if I try. I promise I will.”
So that is what Galahad chooses to believe. It might be fleeting, but he’ll hold onto it while he can.
“And I’m glad you’ll try. Because if I had to train with anyone else, I’d want it to be you.”
Winter, Galahad decides, is the worst of the four seasons.
At least autumn has a prelude of warm colors before the bitter cold sets in. The snow may sparkle pristine white against the torchlight for a little bit, but after a day or two it all melts away to gray slush. He doesn’t say a word about it, though - at least he’s far away from his mother and the convent, yet there’s still his father Lancelot who seems to be infected by winter’s chill: Though he embraces his son when he sees him there is no warmth or anything Galahad thinks a father should give. The king, however, is different with his ruffling Galahad’s hair and saying how he’s heard about how he’s worked so hard.
And for him there’s something missing, stars melted away from a gray sky.
He never says anything about it, though, because that is what he was taught - if you really want to change, don’t speak with others of the worries that linger in your mind. The beetle and worm find their way into everything eventually, so why bother?
But then winter brings a visitor, who drags himself from the thorny woods through the heavy snow towards Camelot, a visitor who presents himself in the throne room with red dress tattered and dirtied, snow dusting his dark hair. But there is something alight in his eyes and it is what has brought him here in the first place. Galahad thinks it is who he thought it was, but keeps his mouth shut till Kay brings him to see the boy.
When he sees the face he’s kept in his memories, it’s like the snow melts.
Galahad elbows his way past Kay to greet him, and runs to tackle him to the ground in a hug. Here is the boy who has watched seasons fade into one another with him, shared his dreams. And he feels like home.
“I kept my promise,” Percival says.
“And I’m so glad you did.”
Spring brings magic that touches the dead branches of trees and makes the world breathe again. Three years since Percival brought a burst of warmth into winter, and by now the trees are coated with tiny green leaves and the first pale buds of flowers to come. The snow has thawed and the world is perfumed by a balmy, honeyed breeze that smells of fresh earth and new beginnings. Magic, Galahad learns, is something that people are blessed with - the reason he and Percival are at Camelot is because God gave them magic and they will use it to change the world for the better.
But he spends his time in the chapel praying for things to change, because sometimes trying is not enough. He prays for selfish things: A father that will thaw away with the dissolving snow, a mother who tries to fit him into the keyhole even though he won’t fit, for a world that is not razor-edged. He does not know if magic or even prayers will be enough, but at least there is Percival, too, who stays at his side.
Galahad uses his magic to make the flowers grow. He likes watching their stems curl from the ground and the soft petals unfurl. Today he grows flowers for Percival and thinks about the ones he wants to show him. Give him purple lilacs, Galahad thinks, and hydrangeas. And irises. And-
“What are you doing?”
The noise that comes out of his mouth is something like a fox’s cry and Galahad almost falls face first against the ground. Percival squats next to him, staring at the splashes of purple and periwinkle so bright and pale against the green.
“I was trying to grow flowers for you.”
“Any reason why?”
“No, just that you like flowers and you’d make flower crowns for us when we were young-”
(A crown of gold doesn’t suit you, Galahad thinks. It weighs too heavy on your brow, when flowers do not.)
“Wait a moment,” Percival mumbles, and he notices what Galahad half-hopes he would and would not notice. “Hydrangeas mean heartfelt emotions, irises mean faith and hope, and purple lilac-”
“Are purple?”
“Well, yes. But purple lilacs also mean first love. Don’t they?”
“Mm-hm.”
Though he lowers his head Percival still presses his fingers to Galahad’s cheeks and moves in closer. When Galahad looks up, he’s smiling.
“I hope that’s what you’re trying to say. But it’d be just as nice if you picked those because you know purple and blue are my favorite colors.”
He almost closes the gap between them before pulling away, as if disenchanted from the magic of the fragrant air. “...Can I?”
Galahad nods. He tastes sweet but a little bitter, of fresh honey and fuzz-coated peaches. He lets Percival’s hands frame his face, fingertips pressing gently at his flaxen blonde hair. And it feels like an ending, the last blotchy-inked illustration in a storybook that will close and be over. Though a part of him knows that there will be more books to follow, more books that feel like the end but still have him praying - he pushes all of that aside and pretends that this is the last page. He can take a walk in his imaginations for a little while.
He pulls away and rests back on the grass, and Percival cradles him close. They have magic and their hopes sprouting from seeds in the ground, growing against the odds and through the winter thaw, and for the moment that is all that they need.
“Hold still and let me heal you.”
Even though they are tucked safely away from the sun in the canvas tent, the heat is still stifling. Galahad stares down at the stretch of red-soaked split skin on his stomach and the bloodied patches that peek through his shirtsleeve. The fight against the chimera was not an easy one; Galahad’s wounds are a testament to that. He’d been the one to jump in when it looked like Mordred and Percival would have been knocked down. Because even though they’re untouchable - they were blessed with their magic by God, after all, they are living vicariously through the bedtime stories parents spin - there is still a part of Galahad that wonders what if there was no happy ending where they all stroll back to Camelot hand in hand, the sun setting behind them?
Percival is gentle when he heals Galahad, blue magic lighting up the tips of his fingers as he cleans off the blood with a damp towel and knits the wound closed. He exhales for a few moments, taking in what it feels like to breathe without the strain of torn muscle in his body.
“Please be careful,” Percival says softly.
It’s not easy, though, when his life is nothing. So long as everyone else gets a chance to live, that would be enough. If he had to stay without being healed so that Percival would continue to breathe, he would. And he would protect those that the chimera’s flames could burn away even if it meant he’d end up dead and unmoving by the end of it. His life may mean nothing, but death in exchange for another is something.
“I was scared you’d get hurt. What if you or Mordred had died?”
“We won’t die. We were blessed - and I’ll protect you if it looks like you’d get hurt in the process. You can protect me, but I will want you to live on in the end. Because neither of us are going to die out there - we have our magic and we’re training as knights.”
Through the flap in the tent, the first fireflies have started to come out; indeed, the heat seems less oppressive now that night is falling. And Galahad believes him. All of them will live on. Time will pass and they will grow old and gray, but that is far from now. For now and in the near future, they’re alive.
“Alright. Thank you for healing me.” He kisses Percival on the nose. It’s a secret code of theirs, one that looks like close greetings from the outside. But there’s a sort of magic between them that one cannot find in any of the books nor written spells that they have, a magic that they understand best of all.
“It’s not a problem at all. Now let’s get some rest. The trip home tomorrow will be a long one.”
They are inseparable even as autumn sets aflame everything it touches. The court oohs and aahs at the talented young knights, of the pious Galahad and the gentle Percival. Surely, if anyone were to ever encounter the Holy Grail, it would be one of them. One day he will rise and travel to find it, and Galahad thinks that maybe the Grail can grant him what his prayers cannot: A better world, a better father that he’s related to by blood because the king is more of a father to him than Lancelot is. And he wishes that were not true. It is silly and flighty and childish and most of all selfish, so Galahad does not think about it very much.
“Winter’ll be here soon.” This is how they spend their nights when Galahad’s eyelids droop yet he still cannot fall asleep, so Percival stays with him till he closes his eyes and slips into his dreams at last. The candle has been snuffed out but the navy-shadowed room still smells like wax. It’s a familiar place and a familiar smell.
“I actually didn’t like winter very much growing up. Didn’t like it because I couldn’t play outside, and I didn’t have many people to keep me company. But I like it more now.”
“Really?” Percival says. “I always thought your favorite season was spring - that was when all your favorite flowers sprung up.”
“It is. But I don’t dislike winter as much as I used to.”
“Why’s that?”
“I like the winter,” Galahad confesses, “Because it reminds me of when you came to Camelot.”
Percival shifts, the covers rustling over him as he pulls Galahad close. Here in Percival’s arms they are once again untouchable, impervious to whatever will happen once the page turns.
“Where would you want to go when we get older? After the quest.”
They both know the quest will reach them and for a fraction of a moment the pedestal begins to crack. They pretend not to notice it, though, because they are focusing on the great after - their epilogue, their ending that they may not get if it means taking up the mantle of Atlas or breaking beneath the weight of the sky to sustain the rest of the world.
“Away.” Away from Camelot, away from my father - I can’t even call him ‘Father - even if it’s selfish. But it hurts here.
“I have a sister. Ended up inheriting the kingdom after her husband died in battle - her name’s Dindrane. She’s written letters to me once I visited her from Camelot. I think she’d be willing to let us stay there. It’s a big castle, with a lovely forest, and lots of trees so we can go apple-picking, and a beautiful lake to go swimming in.”
“We could still travel, though. I want to see more of the world and help more people that way.”
“Of course we will. We will travel around the world after the Grail quest - and maybe get married, too?”
“All of things. And more. But I’m getting too tired to-” Here he lets out a soft, high-pitched yawn - “-To say anything more on the subject.”
Percival laughs, soft like rain. “Sleep well.”
“Good night, Percival.” And then, to himself before he falls into a world of blurry dreams that aren’t so soft once he brushes against them: “Good night, my love.”
The night before the Grail Quest is winter and though he’s been stung before, it’s enough to make Galahad cry. Crying, he tells himself, will not solve anything - that is what Mother and the nuns taught you, and Father too even if he wasn’t there to do it. Crying is for children, and you’re no child: You’re eighteen going on nineteen, and you’re powerful enough of a knight and lucky enough to find the Holy Grail. Crying means you’re unworthy. It means you are weak.
When he hears a knock on the door and Percival’s voice on the other end he lets him in and clutches onto him, forgetting selfishness and restraint and letting the tears flow. His eyes are rimmed red and the deep gasping sobs make his throat sore and feel as though his chest might burst. He buries his head in Percival’s shoulder, tears staining his shirt and he lets go. He lets go because he knows. There are so many truths he knew from the beginning that Percival can’t comprehend and Bors remains oblivious to. And he wishes he were dead for it.
“Sorry - for crying - in front of you-”
“You don’t have to be sorry. It’s fine to cry.”
“I just - I just - everyone keeps comparing me and saying I’m even better of a knight than my father was and it’s horrible. I know he hates me for what I am or at least resents me for it, and I hate how the king treats me more like a son than my father does - and he treats everyone like family, so what am I to complain about special treatment? I’m just - I’m scared, and it’s selfish, and I’m not worthy, and I’m sorry. I don’t know. The Grail might not be worth it but if I think that it’s selfish. What if I make a mistake? What if I fail? What will the people of Camelot think of me then?”
Percival stays silent. He has no words of comfort to offer because they have laid the truth bare and taken it apart with a dull edged knife. They cling to each other because they are all they have left, they’re just trying to make their way through clusters of roses even though the thorns make them bleed. They know they’ll reach an ending and no matter what it is it will not be the ending they want.
“Maybe we could run away,” Percival says at last. “Forget about the Grail. You’re unhappy and I don’t want that. I heard you and Lancelot… shouting at one another. You’re not happy here. This place is not for you, not for us. So we could just leave it behind, and do good elsewhere. There’s still hope to change the world. But not here. Not like this.”
It is what they needed to hear, but it can’t be the truth. At least no one else but them would think it true. And they both know that there will be loose threads dangling if they run away now. What if they are found? What of the others at Camelot’s court that don’t hail them as the shining heroes that they really aren’t? What of Arthur himself? What of the Round Table? What then?
So Galahad lies awake wrapped in Percival’s arms. Tomorrow they will head off to find the Grail, and his father will be with them and Bors, too. And it will be his only chance to prove that he is not the selfish knight the nuns told him he must never be. If he finds the Grail then perhaps all will be right. Even though he is shattered, maybe that will be enough to plaster the broken pieces of the rest of the world back together again. But in Percival’s arms he can pretend. He can pretend that that will not happen once the sun rises.
He feels something shift next to him and moves his head a little closer against Percival’s chest.
“Please don’t go yet,” he pleads.
Percival lies back down and cradles him close, fingers combing through his hair. First Galahad closes his eyes to the darkened room dipped in dark blue, then to the morning that will come, but still lets linger the beating of Percival’s heart.
“I won’t go. I can promise that much.”
Winter sucks everything of life, and it drains whatever might be left of the person Lancelot du Lac used to be. Because a father should not be like this. Or perhaps it is the Grail, an ever present reminder of what no one at Camelot will ever have.
“Do you know what it’s like to feel like you’re slowly being forgotten? Or how it feels to look down at scars and be told that she - your mother - was young and didn’t know any better than to leave scratches and make me feel like I’d never perform miracles again? What does it feel like to walk around as a reminder of what I used to be and what I’ll never achieve now?” “And you act as though I’m happy because of it! You act like I enjoy being told those things. Except I worry about every little mistake I might make - what will people think of me then? What will happen for every selfish thought I have? And you’re so far away from me because you can’t understand that. No, you don’t want to understand-”
“Then you’re no son of mine, because everything up to now is your fault!”
Time heals all wounds. Except the scars are still there and if you scratch at the scars enough they sting, and even if you leave them alone they will always serve as a reminder that maybe you wouldn’t end up this way. For Lancelot, his scars still make him ache. So Galahad leaves him behind, because maybe the pain of his scars will fade if what brings him pain leaves.
“Galahad, I-”
“No. You spoke the truth.” He wants to weep but that is a luxury he does not have, and he must steel himself for the quest. That’s what he vowed. “I will go and fetch the Grail myself, even if it means trading my life for it in the process. I will do it for my kingdom, and for our king.”
The seasons will bleed into one another. This will be his last quest. But it’s the only way to prove to himself and to everyone else that he is all they make him out to be. And if he goes alone, there will be no one else who has to deal with the pain.
“I’m going off on my own to seek the Grail,” he tells Percival. “I know I might die. But you shouldn’t. You deserve to go on. Once I find the Grail it will be alright.” In his heart of hearts he knows that this is not what should be. He wants to travel and live on, but to want for that is far too selfish, is it not? Though he smiles at Percival through the snow, he feels like he might break.
“I love you,” Percival tells him, and pulls him close to kiss him. He does not tell Galahad that no, he should stay and continue to travel with the lot of them because both of them know that nothing will root Galahad to this place. He is not meant to grow here, to decay without the flames licking away at him till not even something burnt and broken remains. And the kiss is the first one that feels cold and full of nothing. Because that is all he is. Nothing.
“I love you, too.” This is not nothing. Galahad says that because he means it, and he knows that if he turns his back too soon he’ll never say those words again. They never really brought up those words because they both knew that it was not necessary to say with words, but now they say it because it is all they will have left.
When he turns his back he lets winter steal him away.
The seasons have passed and will continue to. The sun shines. And Galahad knows he does not have much time left - but for the others, the sun will rise and set, winter will morph into spring and summer into fall. Things will go on. He has finished his quest.
And then Percival finds him and he realizes that it didn’t mean a thing - he spent his life believing that if someone ripped away the blessings and his parenthood that he would be nothing, but the truth is that he had a chance to be something were it not for the Grail. He had a chance to be a little more of himself with Percival around, and he could have gone on not living in a shell.
So as he begins to fade, he asks Percival of one last thing: “Will you sing for me?”
He pretends that this is just another passing lullaby Percival hums to him as they both fall asleep in each other’s arms, that eventually he will wake up again and there will be a tomorrow he can move on into. That he will go on to be someone, and that they will be together without the Grail or anything above them tying them together. But that is not to be, so he wishes that Percival will realize that there is more to the world than a God that doesn’t answer their prayers and that damningly far away Grail, and that he can make the world safe little by little if he walks and clears the path.
The clock stops ticking. He can’t hear Percival sing. He closes his eyes one last time. And he smiles because he knows what he wants to know, and that this is the most important thing he has learned in the end.
He is gone, not even dust or ash in the breeze. But he still lingers - he cannot take a form that people will see, nor will his words on the wind be heard. Galahad must play the role of bystander, because he is not ready for the great after just yet. If he could talk to Percival and tell him that yes, he is there and not all gone, he would. But he can’t.
So he stays as a lingering presence at his side - a feeling of something simple like home again. He presses secret kisses to his brow, sends him quiet reminders not of his presence but that there is more beyond what he set out for, and that things will heal again.
It’s not an ending. Because if it was, they’d have reached that ending together.
But he knows he did what he could even if it wasn’t what he needed. And that maybe one day he and Percival will meet again, and end their story the way it was meant to end.
Together.

Fate/Grand Order Gareth Line Masterpost
Here’s what I’ve been working on alongside my other work! I’ve been taking more time on my translations to be a bit more liberal with phrasing/making it not so literal, so I hope it’s paid off? Gareth is one of those types who’s kind of a huge Round Table fan, so while she speaks politely, her excitement shines through a lot. I hope I was able to capture that kind of youthful energy.
EDIT: All her lines are now available!
I.... should be using my patreon, probably, but I feel like voice lines are things that won’t really benefit me by being on there. I will hopefully have my first patreon only post up by next week (it’ll be a Material Book Profile from Book IV!)
💜 If you like these translations, please consider supporting me on my patreon - for just $1 you’ll get early access to translations I do that aren’t commissions, and for $5 you can have a say in what I decide to translate! If patreon isn’t your cup of tea, I also have a ko-fi you can donate to! As always, thank you for supporting me!
Summoning: I am Gareth. A knight who sat 7th at the Round Table, and as such served King Arthur!
Level Up: I could get used to this magical power! Ooooh~
Ascension 1: Yeah, this is what I’m most used to wearing after all. If I’m armed, I’ll be able to fight with you, you know? By the way, this armor is from back in the day, when I was traveling around as a page. Ascension 2: Hm? Did anything change? I don’t really think so, but thank you anyway! Ascension 3: Ooooh! Incredible!! This is my Round Table armor, Master! So cool, so cool!! Ascension 4: My lance was once praised by my former king, His Highness, King Arthur. If it is by your decree, it shall pierce through anything. In accordance with your will, it shall pierce through anyone. But, please, I pray you use me for the sake of building a peaceful world. —Whaaat. I tried to be just a little cool. Ehehe.
My Room Generic 1: If you just stand around, roots will start growing out of you! You’re young, Master! I’m young too! So let’s get up and get out there! My Room Generic 2: Masters and Servants are like kings and knights…… Hm? ...It’s….. A little different than that? Mm…… Ehehe, it’s kinda complicated, huh. My Room Generic 3: Okay, so, with knights and kings, King Arthur would be my superior…… That makes the relationship between a “senpai” and “kouhai” easy to understand, but…… Your kouhai is Miss Mash, so…… Hm…… Hmmmmm…… I don’t really get it…...
With Arturia: Our King of Knights…… Ah! Your Highness, King Arthur! ……To be able to meet again…… *sob*... *sob*....... I’m so sorry…… I’m so very sorry…… I wasn’t able to fight alongside you in that final battle…... With Bedivere: Sir Bedivere! Aha, it really is you! Oh, what’s with that arm? Strictly speaking you’re a different person? What do you mean by that? With Gawain: Brother, it looks like you’re in a good mood. …….Lord Gawain. Um……. Ehehe…… If you don’t stop ruffling my hair, I’ll get mad! …...But, Brother, I really am happy to see you again. I love you! With Mordred: It looks like Mordred is here too, but…… Mm…… I want to talk more, but I feel like there’s no chance of it happening. With Tristan: Infidelity is bad, you know! Sir Tristan? …...Sir Tristan! Don’t just look away, Sir Tristan. With Merlin: A- Actually, Lord Merlin is kind of difficult to deal with. I like him, but he’s a little…… how should I put this - a little scary. I can’t really put it into words. Master, please keep this a secret from Lord Merlin, okay? After Chapter Camelot (?): Ah, Sir Galahad? Sir Galahad…… that’s you, right? Why did you turn into a girl? …...Oh, my mistake, you’re Miss Mash! My apologies! Aha…… That was close. With Lancelot (Saber): Kya! N- No way…… no way, no way, no way!!! …...Could that really be……? No, it can’t be…… The great Lancelot from back then…… It is him- No way, you’ve gotta be kidding me! Awawa.... Awawa… Awawa…. What am I supposed to do with myself…... With Lancelot (Berserker): This sinister aura…… It’s just like from the day I was killed…… Sir Lancelot…… Even now, my voice still can’t reach you. With Astolfo: Oh boy! A Frankish Knight! Let’s joust! I won’t take no for an answer! With ???: Joust!!! With me!!! With Arturia (Lancer/Lancer Alter): Eh…… Is that His Majesty, King Arthur? But, there’s so much that’s different…… Like, um, it’s really hard to say this directly, but…… How did his majesty get a horse indoors……? With Arthur Pendragon: Your Majesty…… that’s you, isn’t it? Isn’t… it? Hmmmmm.
Likes: What I like? A spear and shield! Or even just a spear is good with me! Is there anyone who’s up for a joust? Then again, we can’t really have horses running around indoors…... Dislikes: What I hate most is oil slicks. It’s really easy to slip on them, you know? Holy Grail: A mass of magical energy? I have no interest in the Holy Grail. Perhaps if my former king wanted it, then maybe…… No, even if that happened, I wouldn’t be able to get it. Of all the Knights of the Round Table, only Sir Galahad was able to obtain it. If there was anyone else who might be able to…… Oh, that’s right. Sir Percival probably could.
Bond 1: I’m the child of King Lot and Morgan, Gareth. I once served King Arthur, and received the seventh seat at the Round Table. Oh, of course, it wasn’t the original seventh seat. The Knights of the Round were constantly shifting members around. Bond 2: You want to know…… how I became the final knight of the Round Table? Even though I was inexperienced, the other knights - and more than anyone else, His Majesty and Sir Lancelot - supported my joining. Oh, that’s right, I don’t think I mentioned that. I served as Sir Lancelot’s squire. Bond 3: “One day, you’ll rank among the greatest of knights. In time, you’ll become a true knight, comparable to your elder brothers.” Those are the kinds of things everyone used to say, and they were more than I deserved. …...Eh? Was there a lot of pressure? O- Of course there was back then, but certainly not now! Bond 4: When Big Brother Agravain decided to accuse Sir Lancelot, I was sad. I was just... so, so sad. I objected, of course. Because he was Sir Lancelot, the one who bestowed upon me the ranking of “knight.” To me, he was the ideal knight - someone I wanted to be. Bond 5: Yes, long ago…… I was killed by Sir Lancelot. I didn’t really understand what happened…… I was helping Lady Guinevere, and then I saw Sir Lancelot running toward me, and I- He-...... No, it’s all simply a shame. No matter what I say, I cannot stop that day. My words can’t yield anything, and so the past- the moment he took my head in his hand and crushed it- it can’t be changed. In his eyes, I didn’t exist - not one bit. This, I am perfectly aware of. I don’t regret it anymore. But, I was summoned in peak form, spear in hand! And so I’ll fight with all my strength, just like I did back then! I’ll do my best!
Event: It looks like there’s some kind of fun festival going on! An event… Aha, so that’s what it is! Then, let’s head out right away, Master! Birthday: Happy Birthday! It’s an auspicious day, so even though it’s been a while, I’ll try to occupy myself in the kitchen. Just leave everything to me. I’ll even pretend to be your assistant for the day.
Battle Start 1: You face the seventh of the Round Table, Gareth! Battle Start 2: I will absolutely attain victory! Battle Start 3: I’ll go all out. That’s okay with you, right?
Card Select 1: Yep! Card Select 2: I got it! Card Select 3: Hm…...
Extra Attack 1: Ei! Ya! Haugh…… Fire! Extra Attack 2: Ei! Ya! Take my Arondight Overload!
(she actually has 4 Extra Attack lines - but the other two are just variations on these 2 with different yelling)
Skill 1: I have confidence in my endurance! Skill 2: My hands are often praised! Ehehe! Skill 3: O, ring! Lend me your power!
NP Select 1: Is it really okay? NP Select 2: Absolutely!
NP 1: Face me! Augh! Haugh! Time for the finishing blow! Ira Lupus (Rampaging Wolf Maiden)! NP 2: I’ll take you down! I am a wolf! My spear is my fang of certain death! Here I go! Ira Lupus (Rampaging Wolf Maiden)!!
Damage 1: What was that? Damage 2: It’s not over!
Defeated 1: How…… regrettable…... Defeated 2: I- I…… can still…...
Victory 1: Victory! I won, Master! Victory 2: Fufufu, think I’m small and you’ll be sorry. Victory 3: I’m still a Knight of the Round! I won’t lose!

3, 4, 12, and 27 for any Celtic or Arthurian ship (go wild with 'em!)
It is a fact universally acknowledged that I am A Soft Bitch. Also it has been SO LONG since I’ve dipped my toes into Arthuriana.
(Sorry it took me so long; I had a Fourth of July dinner to go to and then afterwards I was so exhausted by people asking me about the drinking opportunities available in Ireland because obviously that’s why I’ve spent five years of my life dedicated to the field, amiright? + getting stung by fire ants because fuck Florida that I had to take a long freaking nap.)
3. Who is the most romantic?
Bres/Sreng
I think that they actually both are, it’s just...how they express it.
Sreng tends to be slightly blunter as far as he feels, he tends to show his affection for Bres via being a rock for him when he needs it most. He helps Bres with the children, he distracts him when the pressures of being with the Fomorians and the diplomatic hot potato get to be too much for him, he’s the one who Bres vents to when his father is being difficult on something, he tries to find ways to visit Bres whenever he can. He was the one in the tent with Bres when the news about Ruadan’s death came, he was the one who held Bres throughout the night as he SOBBED into Sreng’s last good cloak.
Bres on the other hand is slightly less big on ACTIONS; it would be really, really easy for an outside observer to think that he’s less invested in the relationship. The truth is that he’s just as invested as Sreng is, if not more. He just tends to show it via, for example, curling up with Sreng’s cloak when he’s not there or being the one to take his hand when they’re in bed together, running his fingers along Sreng’s knuckles.
Bres’ private space is very important to him, it’s part of why the Tuatha dé and he never really CLICKED, because the king of the Tuatha dé needed to be...well...an extrovert, someone who can host lavish feasts, someone who can humor everyone in the hall while maintaining the social order, and the longer that Bres stood in the kingship, the more he grew to despise everyone there. But Sreng is allowed IN there, he can go to Bres’ quarters with no problem, he can dine with Bres privately and Bres is perfectly at ease with him, he can share Bres’ living space to the extent that Bres tends to use him as a pillow. Also: Bres totally dotes on him and occasionally slips him a new gold neck-ring when he’s not looking. Because Sreng would be too proud for it normally but Bres can’t stand to see his decline. Which is big for Bres, given how we KNOW how stingy he was with the Tuatha dé.
You know that if he’d won he would have totally spoiled Sreng. If that Fir Bolg wanted ANYTHING, he would have had it. It’s hard to use the term “consort” because the Medieval Irish were so BIG on marriage = children as a concept, but...Sreng would have been Bres’ nearest, dearest companion that he lavished attention on. Which would have rubbed salt on the Tuatha dé’s wounds even more.
Mordred/Galahad
Galahad. He has VERY high ideals of love and how it should be expressed, and so he’s constantly trying to court Mordred in the most courtly way he possibly can. Which is massively confusing to Mordred because he has no idea what to DO but...well...it’s nice. At least, once he realizes that Galahad id 100% serious. At first, he laughs about it with his brothers, but then as time goes on, he realizes that he LIKES it. (Namely when Galahad’s away on a quest at one point and suddenly Mordred doesn’t have that attention anymore.) Mordred is more the “I happened to find this by the side of the road, but don’t think that I LIKE you” type.
4. Who can’t keep their hands to themselves?
Bres/Sreng
...Bres. Bres is just...Bres. He can’t keep his hands to himself and he will make bad jokes the entire time in his attempt to be smooth. He deeply enjoys trying to find excuses to touch Sreng whenever they are at a feast together. This drives Sreng absolutely batty since there’s really nothing that he can do to reciprocate when they’re in front of some of THE MOST POWERFUL FOMORIAN NOBILITY TO EXIST and Bres is behaving very casually, making pleasant conversation and Oh, Queen Cethlenn, is that a new silk dress? I hadn’t noticed it before while he raises his goblet at Sreng. Sreng always takes his revenge in the end, waiting until they have at least a sliver of privacy before pinning Bres against the nearest hard surface and kissing him absolutely senseless. Which was totally Bres’s intended purpose.
Mordred/Galahad
In general, Mordred, despite often seeming aloof. Mordred is very, very handsy with his boyfriend because, even though he won’t ADMIT it, the boy’s touch starved, and Galahad is endlessly compassionate when it comes to that. Though Galahad DID get tipsy once and was, as it turns out, a very affectionate drunk, which gave Mordred fuel to tease him for WEEKS. (And the rest of Camelot tbh. Given that we know that they are not above roasting someone given Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.) Galahad can’t enter the Great Hall without blushing for ages. Mordred tells him that his father’s done far, far worse in his time.
12. What first changes when it starts getting serious?
It’s odd with them because their bond’s been intense since the first time they met. They just had one of those instant connections, so in some ways them finally going from friends to lovers...wasn’t THAT big of a step, because they always were serious. Their meeting is actually really, really unusual in terms of how two champions from opposite sides GENERALLY interact in-text, given that they both are on such good terms with one another and they STAY on good terms with one another even after everything happens. No, this did not feature in my undergrad Capstone in any way, what would give you that idea?
I think that Bres is really, really surprised that Sreng stays by his side after their reunion. He puts on this very confident front, but privately, he puts a lot of his self identity on his looks. And when they went with Cairpre’s satire, that was a HUGE blow mentally and physically, even before it touches how it affects his kingship. He knew on some level that Sreng was interested in him, but they’d left things at a confusing place. So, he didn’t think that Sreng would keep an interest in him when his looks were marred, Sreng didn’t think that he had ANY interest in him...it’s a mess. And both of them still kind of think that the other’s going to change their mind at any given time even after they begin the process of clearing things up, not the least because neither one of them have really ever been in a place of stability in their lives.
But then, it’s a month onwards, then it’s a year, then it’s two years, and both of them are still there, and it’s just like “Oh. This is a Thing” and there’s just this general feeling of security that starts to creep in. And, gradually, their lives just kind of naturally intersect. Both of them interact with one another regularly, both of them know each other’s families (regrettably, in Sreng’s case, given that he is the founding member of the Elatha Hate Club, even though he does love Bres’ children dearly), both of them have stuff over at the other one’s place. In the modern day, it would be painfully obvious that they were a couple, but since it IS this time, everyone else thinks They’re Just Good Friends, because that’s how good friends ARE at this point in time. Except for Lugh, who post-Cath Maige Tuired firmly believes that Bres is The Actual Devil and that Sreng and he have some sort of devious plan to take Ireland back.
Mordred/Galahad
For once, they stop thinking about their respective destinies as much.
Like, don’t get me wrong, in Galahad’s case in PARTICULAR, his eventual destiny is something that’s ALWAYS at the back of his mind, because he’s spent literally his ENTIRE CHILDHOOD being told that. We do not discuss the truly endless depth of my hatred for his mother and grandfather for THAT ONE + their treatment of Lancelot.
And for Mordred, I think that on some level, there’s just this resignation that he’s going to be the villain, he’s going to kill Arthur one day, he’s going to be Evil™. He’s known that since he got the prophecy, and I tend to see him as having this “Then let me BE evil” moment after he murders the old priest and then Lancelot, the knight who he’d IDOLIZED and probably had a little bit of a crush on, tries to kill him. And that’s why he tends to see all the bad in Camelot, because it makes it that much easier to bring it all down.
But, for a little while, there’s this period of time where they have the luxury of thinking about something outside of their fates, they can have a LIFE that’s theirs, without worrying about the future. It’s one of those things that they don’t even really NOTICE until it’s like “Wait, I haven’t thought about my tragic but inevitable death for a month now, where’s the time gone?”
27. Why do their friends get annoyed with them?
Bres has FRIENDS?
Alright, alright, that’s probably a little cruel, but...Well, he doesn’t really HAVE anyone. I tend to HC that Sreng’s brothers don’t really understand the relationship AT ALL and tend to view Bres as The Tuath Dé Who Shamelessly Seduced Their Brother (If you ask Bres, HE’LL say that it was the other way around, if you ask Sreng, he’ll just shrug because honestly to this day he has no idea how he scored Bres.)
Tailtiu thinks that Sreng is essentially tying himself to a sinking ship. (Which...is she WRONG?) And Bres’ presence is basically a gigantic wedge between Sreng and Lugh being Bros™, which would obviously be Tailtiu’s endgame of choice. That, and Bres did. Kind of. Try to kill her former husband. Even though he had a Very, Very Good Reason for it at the time. Still. That has to sting a little.
Elatha REALLY doesn’t like Sreng or the relationship, because he views it as a Distraction™ (that, and he doesn’t understand the appeal. If his son’s going to throw everything out on the line for someone, couldn’t it have been someone better, more attractive, more witty, less blunt? Someone that he could bend to his own ends), but he also knows that he has to tacitly allow it to continue, because he does NOT want to deal with the fallout. (Not even from Bres. Oh no, there’s a bigger threat to be considered. Eriu. Who is Very Happy That Her Boy’s Found Someone To Make Him Happy and won’t hear a bad word against Sreng, who she considers to be A Very Nice Boy. If she were a modern mom, she totally would be knitting Sreng a Christmas sweater while they speak and asking them when the wedding was even before either one of them had really THOUGHT of proposing.)
Bríg does NOT like Sreng at all, not necessarily because of personal jealousy (she never really loved Bres, he never really loved her, even though there was a definite possibility that they could have loved one another in the early days), but because of the Nuada Incident. She doesn’t really understand why Bres would spend so much time with him when he’s The Enemy, and he’s a Fir Bolg so he’s inherently lesser than the Tuatha dé anyway.
Bres’ brothers don’t really understand it either. Over 3000 years in and the Dagda STILL thinks that Bres’ problem is that he doesn’t get laid enough and that if Bres would just get away from That Fir Bolg... (If only he knew, if only he knew.)
Meanwhile, the Fomorian lords, sans Elatha, are more or less completely oblivious. Tethra might have a better idea than the others, but does he care? Nope. He’s not overly invested in this whole thing anyway. He’s got his own issues at home to take care of, thank you VERY much. He participates in the raids because he has to dole out the loot to his men the same as anyone else, but he’s not INVESTED in it. It’s a necessary part of maintaining his kingship, nothing more. Sreng isn’t overly fond of them because he considers them to be essentially a snakepit of intrigue and corruption that will stab the two of them in the back at their earliest opportunity and he’s not wrong for the most part, though the one thing I WILL emphasize is that it’s not because they’re Fomorians, it’s that they’re...well, medieval kings, but they have a decent enough working relationship because they both hate the Tuatha dé’s guts.
Mordred/Galahad
Agrap-Agravaine tends to be annoyed that his brother’s spending all his time with someone who’s such a goody two shoes. Mordred and he have always been the closest in terms of age and personality, and suddenly he’s no longer Mordred’s Favorite.
I actually think that Morgause would like Galahad? She’s definitely very, very pro-her sons being happy in Le Morte d’Arthur and Good Mom Morgause is a hill that I’m willing to die on. Because fuck T.H White. I do think it would be a little strange, to say the least, given that obviously Galahad is staunchly religious whereas I don’t REALLY see Morgause having that same bent. Morgause just...lives her own life, regardless of what society says, and I think she would have some trouble understanding why her son would go for someone like that when he’s HIM. But I do think that for the most part, she would just be thrilled that Mordred has someone who he’s devoted to given that he’s REALLY not been OK since That One Quest With Lancelot.
ANY of Galahad’s friends tend to be annoyed at Mordred simply for the fact that Mordred is...Mordred. He doesn’t have the best reputation for a REASON, and it’s very, very dissonance inducing to see the two of them constantly in one another’s presence, even though they try to frame it in terms of Mordred being a charity case of Galahad's.
And Lancelot obviously hates Mordred because he knows of The Prophecy™. He is NOT pleased by this turn of events, and it goes way beyond “annoyance.”

Fic Summary: Feet dangling off the edge of the bed, hands still resting on the earpieces of his glasses, Eggsy opened his eyes.
And promptly shut them again, screwing them shut like a child who had the distinct misfortune of biting into a raw lemon. Breathing harshly in his nose and out his mouth, trying to stave off whatever delusional panic had befallen him, Eggsy reopened his eyes.
‘Harry?’
Or: The Hologram Story Nobody Asked For
NaNoWriMo brings good tidings and UPDATES!
For all that he’d intended to immediately get his answers, Harry was at heart a vain man. He’d stopped briefly in his bedroom, where things were definitely cleaner than he’d left them. But they were all there, and he eagerly showered and changed out of the appalling tracksuit (hopefully the neighbours hadn’t seen. Neighbours- why did he care more about their seeing him in a tracksuit than his unexpected resurrection? Had they even known one way or another? How many of them had been lost in the tragedy?) and into his own clothing. It all smelled laundered- though some time before, not freshly. The kind of smell that comes from new clothing out of the packaging. Stagnant, but not unpleasant.
How off-kilter he must be, Harry thought to himself, to allow his mind to go in so many different directions when he had an actual goal in mind. He did, however, pull open the loose floorboard to access the secret storage he’d put into his headboard. He was a spy, and spies didn’t reach the age he had without being paranoid and having at least a handful of backup plans. Even in one’s own home. Maybe especially there.
Getting into Kingsman’s archives was incredibly easy- both because he never truly disconnected his computer from the servers, and because Merlin had already managed to change everything in his accounts to the Arthur accesses. No hacking necessary, so he’d have to give Merlin a headache through other means. The next step was to figure out what, precisely, he was looking for.
HQ was obviously under constant surveillance, cameras ran and filed their footage automatically every hour. Which meant there was an ungodly amount of files to sift through- even once sorted by date and such, which had been a headache all its own because of time zones but, eventually, he managed to narrow it down. He found the footage of the dog test first- something he hadn’t had access to before. He’d simply gotten notice that Eggsy was not Lancelot from Arthur, who had taken the moment to gloat despite his own candidate washing out much earlier.
How different would things have been if he’d been able to actually see what had happened? Harry wanted to scream; he’d been awful to Eggsy under the assumption that he’d been given the same test he had- which was not the case. Eggsy hadn't even been given the same test that Roxanne had been administered- and it made all the difference in the world. Roxanne was given bald facts- the weapon is live, shoot the dog- by the man who had been leading them. Eggsy was sat more intimately with a man he had seen maybe twice in the duration of his candidacy, made to think of the dog emotionally, and only then was he told to shoot it.
That was not how it was done with Lee and James. Or when he took the test himself. This was new, and obviously done to make Arthur feel righteously correct in his assumptions about those of the lower class. To show Harry evidence that he’d been right all along, and likely convince him to stop trying to break the mould of their organisation.
Harry had never wanted to strike a dead man so badly. How dare he be so petty. But he couldn’t help but feel guilty himself- he’d allowed his emotions to get the better of him with Eggsy that day. Had been cruel and callous not due to Eggsy’s actions or inactions- he’d never intended to drop out of his life if he hadn’t gotten the Knighthood- but because of Arthur. He’d allowed himself to be emotionally manipulated, as easily as Eggsy had before his test. What kind of a Knight was he?
As Eggsy lifted the gun to Arthur, shaking far less than he had while pointing it at JB, Harry wanted to cheer. He could see Arthur’s surprise in the twitch at his jaw, the way his finger twitched, and Eggsy had only ever intended to scare him- his finger was not even near the trigger. The sound of a gun going off echoed into the room- Roxanne had done it- and Eggsy went off in a huff. And rightfully so, Harry could admit to himself; he even felt mildly annoyed at himself for preventing Eggsy from beating up his stepfather. Eggsy had been set up to fail, though he had no idea since he didn’t have access to these files, but only viewed it as him having failed where the person who belonged had done it- and Harry hadn’t helped with that.
He had to remind himself that it was in the past, things had worked out in the end- the specifics of which was why he was in these files in the first place.
Harry bypassed the hours dedicated to Kentucky- he both had no want or need to relive the experience- but wished briefly that he had footage from his own home, then. He had to make choices when installing the holograms, and had prioritised them over having idle recordings of his home taking up memory space.
Eggsy walked into the Dining room, looking defeated. Arthur claimed to have just given a toast- which he had not, the glasses were still dry- and brushed off Eggsy’s concerns. Passed on to the proper authorities what kind of authorities could information such as that be passed to that quickly? But Eggsy followed Arthur’s instructions, sitting in Harry’s seat, and looked to Arthur as he explained the brandy. And froze briefly, eyes narrowed for an instant.
Harry couldn’t see what had caused Eggsy to pause, but did see that he was watching Arthur pour the glasses, a calculating look in his eyes. Arthur spoke about bending the rules and Harry’s eyebrows met his hairline- something was definitely amiss. Eggsy leant forward, asked about the portraits, and Harry watched as he nimbly switched the glasses while Arthur was turned away.
Eggsy picked up the glass that was passed to him, eyes dark and mouth pursed, but swallowed the brandy in one gulp.
‘Harry said you don’t like to break rules, Arthur. Why now?’
‘You’re very good, Eggsy. Perhaps I will make you my proposal for Galahad’s position- provided, of course, that we can see eye to eye on certain… political matters?’ Arthur paused before reaching for the pen Harry hadn’t noticed on the drink tray. ‘Do you know what this is?’ He flipped the switch, and Harry saw red. The snake had poisoned the glasses.
‘ I don't have to; Harry showed me. You click it, I die. I thought that brandy tasted a bit shit.’ Eggsy had figured it out, somehow; that’s why he’d paused. That’s why he switched the glasses. Oh, Eggsy, you clever man.
‘Bravo.’ Harry listened in horror as Arthur explained Valentine’s grand scheme, as he veritably admitted to having sent Harry on a suicide mission as he was the agent on the Valentine case. The selfish bastard had secured his survival, he likely had one of those head-exploding chips, and then had the gall to use Harry as some kind of bargaining chip with Eggsy.
‘I’d rather be with Harry. Thanks.’ Oh, Eggsy. Harry’s chest felt tight, watching the determined-yet-aloof way Eggsy witnessed his first kill as a Kingsman (for that was what he’d done, there. He’d taken on the Galahad mantle with not so much as a by-your-leave) and got to work. Harry watched as Eggsy used the pen to pull free the chip from his neck, as Eggsy brought Arthur’s corpse through the empty shop to use his still-warm hand on the mirror.
As Roxanne pulled her gun on him, unwavering, waiting for Merlin to give the okay. She was an excellent Agent, not giving in to sentiment in a tough moment with a face she knew, but it still made Harry angry that she’d been given an unfair advantage simply because she was well-connected and wealthy. Without things working out as they had, without Eggsy in his home and having seen Kentucky, Valentine’s scheme very likely would have succeeded. What a strange set of circumstances led to humanity’s continued survival.
He had a lot to think about.
-
Eggsy waited until he heard water running (who doesn’t like a shower after a long time away from home?) to give in. He slumped over the kitchen table, one hand holding up his head as the other curled around his glass. So much had changed in such a short time. He’d gone from someone in denial to being right; from living with digital ghosts to the real thing. Harry Hart back at home, a little worse for wear (the slight delay in decision making, the obvious way his vision was impaired) but home. Where Eggsy was currently squatting, he guessed. It was not as if he’d changed much- the things missing here and there were more Merlin’s fault than his own- he confined his chaos to his room, and kind of maintained the rest.
He’d had Harry’s things laundered a few times by a service, unable to bring himself to going through all of his clothes himself. He settled on stealing the dressing gown (hidden for the moment in a kitchen cupboard, he’d switched it out once for an apron and had decided that was an excellent place for it in the long run) and tried to put the thought of everything else from his mind. Which worked, before, but now…
Eggsy let his head thump against the wood. He heard shuffling about a moment later, and made himself get back to pulling together dinner. Spagbol was easy enough, and filling enough, to be pulled together without fuss or a lot of thought. He didn’t think either of them would be up for much conversation tonight, but the important thing was to make sure they both ate- stress and change did things to appetites, and there was an excess of both between them. He began pulling things from the cabinet- all he’d managed before Harry went upstairs was setting a pot to boil, which was the most time consuming portion, but there was loads left to do.
Which was how Harry had found him, puttering about the kitchen in the apron he’d worn to teach Eggsy about etiquette. It was something he could see himself growing used to, having someone else consistently in his space and sharing his life in the mundane ways Kingsman Agents could never really think about. To have significance in another’s life was as much a weakness as it could be a strength, and Harry was ready to share that with someone.
‘Well you’re certainly comfortable in the kitchen.’ Eggsy whirled about at the unexpected sound from behind him, brandishing a wooden spoon covered in tomato sauce as one would a sword. ‘Though apparently easily spooked,’ Harry wiped idly at the spots of sauce that had ended up on the wall near him, and stuck a finger of the stuff in his mouth.
‘Careful what you say, I made that with my own fair hands.’
‘Well I’ll keep quiet, then- wouldn’t want to offend your fragile sensibilities.’ They shared a chuckle, and Harry thought to himself that this was exactly the way he wanted his life to continue on. With laughter, and light, and a fair bit of danger.

hi! merlahad prompt: during the lancelot trials Eggsy and Roxy bet on whether Harry is in a relationship. Eggsy says he's single but Roxy is convinced he has a wife. so they try to find out which one of them is right, but since harry is a private person and merlin for some reason doesn't indulge their need for gossip they don't get an answer. until one day Eggsy comes to harry's for a spontaneous visit and finds harry&merlin being horribly domestic and welp now they both lost their bet.
Hi! Thanks for the prompt! This is mostly Eggsy failing to out-spy the spies, but hopefully there’s enough Merlahad feels at the end to compensate (:
Continue beneath the cut, or read on AO3.
“You what? Harry ain’t married!”
Roxy remained unfazed by Eggsy’s retort, spluttered as it was through a snort of laughter. “I’m sure he is,” sheinsisted. “There’s absolutely no way a man like him could possibly be single.”
“But he’s a spy! I’m pretty sure they haveregulations about that kinda thing.”
“They do, but there are always exceptions. And if ever there was a Kingsman unafraid to bend the rules, don’t you think it’sGalahad?”
Eggsy couldn’t argue with that, but neithercould he quite picture Harry with a wife. Maybe it was because he didn’t thinkHarry would be so unkind as to bugger off on missions with no idea if he’d everreturn home, the poor woman never knowing if she would see him again. Or maybeit was something more tangible.
“But he don’t wear a ring!” He grinned intriumph, certain he had hit upon incontrovertible proof.
Roxy rolled her eyes heavenward, unconvinced.“Of course not, he’s a spy.”
His own argument turned back on him, Eggsyscowled in the face of her logic. She was right; Harry would hardly riskproviding enemies with details of his private life, gifting them potentialtargets.
“And why else would he have been so eagerto hurry home tonight?” Roxy continued, stacking up her evidence with glee. “He’srarely on time for anything, so it must be important. Maybe today’s theiranniversary, or her birthday…”
“Or maybe he just wanted to catch the XFactor results,” Eggsy countered. Roxy’s withering look told him exactlywhat she thought of that suggestion. “Yeah, okay, but you still ain’t gonnaconvince me he’s married.”
“How much?”
“How much what?”
“How much do you want to bet you’reright?”
Eggsy wasn’t exactly flush, but hecouldn’t pass up on a wager with a mate, which Roxy was fast becoming. “Twentyquid says he’s single.”
“You’re on.”
Roxy offered her hand and they shook, sealing the deal.
Proving he was right turned out to be moredifficult than Eggsy had assumed it would be. Thankfully, that meant neitherwas he being proven wrong, which was something at least, and his moneyremained safe. For now.
A naturally private man with years of trainingand successful service as a secret agent, Harry was an infuriatingly hard nutto crack.
“So, how do you spend your downtime then?”Eggsy enquired of him during one of the rare times the candidates were granteda breather.
“How do you mean?”
“I dunno. I mean, you must get the odd daywhen you ain’t off saving the world. Do you watch the footy? Play Xbox? Chillwith your mates?”
“Even if I knew what those things were, I’mquite certain the answer would still be no.”
Eggsy was sure Harry was beingdeliberately obtuse, but every attempt to switch tactics was met with furtherevasion.
After receiving a text from his mum—therewas news of a free sim deal and she’d let him know if she got a new number andhow was he getting on?—Eggsy took one final punt.
“Must be hard not being able to sharestuff with your loved ones.”
“Is that something you think you’ll have aproblem with?”
“Nah, bruv. You know I can keep me mouthshut. But it must suck not being able to talk about it when you’ve had a shitday.”
“We all find ways to deal with the shit,as well as celebrate our triumphs.”
“Yeah? What do you do then?”
Harry smiled a small, private smile. “Itusually involves a nice martini.”
The subtle approach was getting Eggsyprecisely nowhere. Harry was accustomed to withstanding more refinedinterrogation than Eggsy’s clumsy attempts at prying into his private life.Short of coming right out and just asking him, Eggsy was soon out of ideas.
Except one.
“You’ve known Harry a long time, right?”
“I have.”
“What’s he like when he’s not being AgentGalahad? Is he always that posh?” Merlin was just staring at him, faceunreadable, so Eggsy forged on, aiming for casual. “I’ll bet he’s properromantic. Does he have a girlfriend?”
“Why the sudden interest?” Merlin quirkedan eyebrow. “You don’t have designs on Galahad, do you, Eggsy?”
“What?! Fuck no! I mean, he’s pretty fitfor his age and that, I suppose, but I ain’t…” Eggsy trailed off when he sawminute smile twitching at the corner of Merlin’s mouth. “Bastard. I was justwondering.”
“Perhaps you should apply your mind to themore pertinent matter of taking down those targets.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Eggsy turned his attentionback to the range and fired his remaining shots. Thanks to his Marine training, this was something he was actually decent at, so it didn’t much matter that hismind continued to wander.
Merlin had been a crap choice of subjectfor information gathering. Their stoic quartermaster was clearly not so easilydrawn into gossip.
But before Eggsy could come up with PlanC, everything went tits up.
When Harry was lying unconscious in theinfirmary bed, he received notably few visitors. The other agents popped in,and Arthur, of course, but the only person who spent more time at his bedsidethan Eggsy was Merlin.
Roxy argued that they probably didn’tallow non-Kingsman personnel on site, but Eggsy was convinced they would makean exception for a spouse whose husband was in a critical condition.
When he woke up, at least Harry had Merlinthere to look after him.
“Guess where I’ve been?”
Roxy glanced up at Eggsy and waited to beenlightened.
“Harry’s house.”
“Oh!” Now she looked properlyinterested. “And?”
“No sign of a wife, I’m afraid.” Eggsytried not to look too smug.
Roxy frowned, thinking over this newinformation. “That makes sense, if you think about it. We were only grantedtwenty-four hours, so she must have offered to go out and give you and Harrysome time alone.”
“Ah, but you didn’t see his house. It’s atotal bachelor pad, no sign of a woman’s touch anywhere.” Harry’s decor hadperhaps been a little eccentric, but there had been a notable lack of the kindof things Eggsy guessed women usually liked to have around the home. He wasonly basing this conclusion on his own mum, really, and he wasn’t so shallow asto think all women were the same, but he thought his general theory held.
“So you checked the bedroom? The bathroomcabinets?”
Eggsy deflated. Roxy had a point. MaybeHarry’s hypothetical wife shared his taste in the mildly bizarre, but she wouldcertainly have her own set of toiletries and stuff. A grin split Roxy’s face, proclaiming her small victory.
“We was a bit busy,” Eggsy said, defensive. Learning how to make the perfect martini had taken precedence oversnooping through Harry’s underwear drawer, although he was now cursing themissed opportunity.
He soon set about rectifying hisoversight.
Harry had said he was welcome to visit, but turning up unannounced on his doorstep might be a bit rude. Thankfully,Harry didn’t seem pissed to see him, and Eggsy was invited in.
“We’ve already had dinner, I’m afraid, butyou’re welcome to join us for a drink.”
Eggsy perked up at the we, hisheart sinking a little at the confirmation that Roxy had been correct allalong. Nonetheless, his curiosity had been piqued, and he followed Harrythrough to the living room only to pause in the doorway, baffled.
“Merlin!”
Kingsman’s tech wizard looked up from thetablet perched on his knee, glanced at Harry over Eggsy’s shoulder, thenreturned his attention to Eggsy.
“Good evening, Eggsy.”
It was obvious he was confused by Eggsy’sunexpected appearance, but Harry took control, ushering Eggsy to an armchairand fetching another glass to prepare him a drink. He also took the opportunityto refresh his own and Merlin’s before taking a seat beside Merlin on the sofa.
Merlin tapped a few final times on thetablet, then set it aside on the small table beside him, giving his shrewdattention to their guest. With dawning realisation, Eggsy guessed he must haveinterrupted some kind of casual work meeting.
If that was the case, Harry didn’t seem tomind, smiling at Eggsy as he sipped his martini. “To what do we owe thepleasure?”
“I just wanted to say thanks.” Eggsy waswinging it, but went with his heart. “For believing in me, giving me thisopportunity. Not many people have ever done that for me, y’know.”
“I am very pleased my gut instinct provedcorrect, and I have every faith you’ll be equally successful in your next test.Don’t you think, Merlin?”
“He has performed admirably so far, aye,but I’m afraid I must remain impartial.”
“Of course.” But Harry gave Eggsy a lookthat said not to take any notice.
They continued to chat, Eggsy relaxing inthe company and happy not to have seen any sign of the elusive wife. About halfan hour later the conversation waned and Harry yawned with a hand to his mouthand a word of apology.
He was probably still recovering from thecoma, and Eggsy felt a bit of a dick for imposing on his rest. He was about tomake his excuses and leave when Harry leaned across Merlin to place his emptyglass on the end table. Rather than straightening up, he remained pressedagainst Merlin’s side, settling comfortably as if he fully intended to staythere. After a moment, his head dropped to Merlin’s shoulder, his eyes droopingshut.
Merlin froze, awkward, his gaze flickingfrom Eggsy to the man lounging against him. He gave Harry a gentle nudge.
“Perhaps it’s time you took yourself offto bed,” he suggested, tone carefully neutral.
Harry gave a sleepy smile and raised ahand, trailing his fingers lazily down Merlin’s chest, suggestive heat in hisvoice when he spoke. “Only if you’ll join me, darling.”
Merlin grasped Harry’s hand, halting itscaress. “Harry.” The mild warning in his tone was enough to rouse Harry, whoimmediately sat up, aware and contrite.
“Shit, I’m sorry. That was terriblyinappropriate of me.”
The silence that followed was filled for amoment with embarrassed uncertainty, until Eggsy grinned at the pair of them, everything finally slotting into place. It was incredible that neither he norRoxy had figured it out sooner, it just seemed so…obvious. So right.
His reaction must have been enough toreassure Merlin, for he hooked an arm around Harry’s shoulders and hauled himback in, the tension in his rigid posture visibly ebbing. “Come here, you daftbastard.” There was such fond affection in his voice, in the way he looked atthe man curled up against his side, that Eggsy wondered how he had ever thoughtMerlin so terrifying. No doubt he’d be reminded soon enough, but at that momenthe was granted the honour of sharing in their happiness.
It did, however, quickly become a bit toosappy, and Eggsy decided he had overstayed his welcome.
“I think it’s time I was getting back. I’llsee meself out.”
There was a mumble from the sofa as Harryand Merlin bade him good night, quite happy to remain where they were.
As he left, Eggsy took care of one finalpiece of business, snapping a quick photo with his phone and sending it to Roxywith an accompanying message.
Call it a draw?

First Date.
Requested by Anon: Could you write Male!Reader x Eggsy first date fic where the reader is a young but established Kingsman agent who watches him through training and got so impressed with him, he asked Eggsy out? The date is cracky bc reader is so easily flustered and kinda awkward (also I’d like some overprotective Harry for humour but it’s up to you.) Pairing: Male!Reader x Eggsy Unwin. Fandom: Kingsman. Warnings: Drinking. Word Count: 1267.
Tumblr media
As a Kingsman agent, you had pretty much accepted that you were never going to fall in love. You spent most of your time either in the tailor shop or Kingsman HQ, which meant you never had any time to actually try and find somebody. You expected that relationships would be hard.
You knew that anyone you dated would have to live with the fact that you couldn’t tell them the truth about your job. You loved being an agent more than anything, though you knew that you’d never be able to lie to someone you loved like that.
So, when Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin showed up at Kingsman HQ to start his training for the now open position of Agent Lancelot, you never really expected anything to grow from that. You admitted to yourself that yes, he was very attractive, and seemed to be a decent guy, but that was it.
Plus, you had your own candidate to help train, and you had no plans to start getting all close with someone else candidate when you had to be loyal to your own.
It was only when you saw the footage of him breaking the glass in the underwater task that you were really impressed with him. You, during your own training, had barely made it to the toilets in time to get a snorkel working, yet he’d picked up on the mirror right away.
And then, again, when he landed right in the target after the skydiving task with Roxy. They’d opened way too late, but somehow they’d made it. You were slowly finding yourself much more attracted to him than you intended, but you really couldn’t help it. You’d been an agent for a few years now and you knew that something about Eggsy was different. He was better, smarter.
When your proposal for the position was sent home, you didn’t feel as guilty for liking him.
You hadn’t really spoken to Eggsy all that much. You’d told him to call you by your real name, but he liked to annoy you by referring to you as Gaheris, your codename. You found it quite amusing, however. You spoke during lunch breaks and sometimes as you passed in the hallways of HQ, but you’d never really had a proper conversation.
Which was why, you supposed, Eggsy was so surprised when you somehow got the guts to go up to him during a training day at Kingsman HQ and ask him out on a date. You set a time and a place and that was that. Everything was happening.
Harry Hart, better known around Kingsman as Galahad, cornered you on the afternoon of your date as you were finishing up on a mission report in your office. You looked up, eyebrows raised. “Galahad?”
He looked down at you. “I’ve heard that you’ve got plans tonight,” he began.
You nodded at him, sitting the pen you’d been using on the table. “I do, sir,” you confirmed.
Harry hummed and nodded. “A date with my proposal for Lancelot’s position, am I right?”
“You’re right, sir,” you nodded. “Is this a problem?”
Harry was your superior, you knew that, and you also knew that he was the one who proposed Eggsy for the new position. You hadn’t really thought he’d mind, though now you were wishing that you’d asked for his permission beforehand.
He nodded slowly before smiling softly and shaking his head. “No, Gaheris. You’re fine,” he assured you. “Just make sure that you don’t tire him out too much. He’s got a busy day ahead of him tomorrow. He is my proposal for Lancelot’s position, so I would very much like him back here tomorrow to continue his training in one piece. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Galahad. I can promise you he’ll be back tomorrow, unharmed,” you confirmed. Your heart was beating out of your chest with your nerves - you hadn’t realised just how important Eggsy was to him, though, when your proposal for Lancelot’s position was still here, you’d felt the same.
You picked up Eggsy from the outside of his apartment in London at precisely 7:00pm later that night. You’d organised a somewhat fancy dinner, and you, luckily, didn’t look too odd in your suit - considering Eggsy saw you mostly in this suit, it was normal for him.
As soon as Eggsy walked out of his apartment, you felt your heart swell in your chest. Your palms were sweaty with nerves and you were terrified that this would all go wrong. Eggsy thought you looked rather handsome, even though he’d always thought that.
The two of you made your way to the restaurant in silence. Eggsy managed to make some small talk, but it was clear that you were nervous. You didn’t want to mess this up in any way, because you knew that if you did, and if Eggsy became Lancelot, work would be painful.
You took your seats at the table you’d booked and instantly picked up the menus, ordering whatever sounded good and trying to make a bit of small talk before you ate.
“So,” Eggsy began, taking a sip of his beer. “How long have you been an agent?”
“Uh, eight years,” you muttered, taking a gulp of your own beer - a gulp that was much too big. He almost asked Eggsy how long he’d been an agent, but then you realised he wasn’t and, instead, chuckled awkwardly.
Eggsy nodded. “That’s a bloody long time. I’d like t’ think I’ll get to that point one day.”
“I’m sure you will,” you assured him, knotting your hands together on the table in front of you. “You’re doing really well in your training. I, uh, I’ve been watching. I’m very impressed.”
Eggsy grinned at you. “Really? That’s nice, Y/N,” he mused.
Conversation died off for a few minutes and you could feel the awkwardness slipping into the moment. You hadn’t expected to be so lacking of things to say - you’d expected this date with Eggsy to go well, easy, even. But it was proving to be anything but.
When your food arrived, both of you gratefully started eating.
Eggsy, to his credit, started talking half way through the meal. “Could I ask, Gaheris,” he began. “Why did you ask me out tonight? We haven’t really talked before.”
You paused, food half way to your mouth, and with an awkward chuckle, returned your fork to your plate. “Well, I, uh, I like you...” you muttered, your heart beating crazily in your chests and your palms sweating again. “You impressed me in the challenges. I just... I had to give it a go.”
Eggsy nodded and ate another fork full of his dinner. “Y’know,” he said, chewing his dinner and talking with his mouth full - something you knew that Harry would chastise. “I’ve actually had a pretty good time t’night.”
“You have?” You furrowed your eyebrows and looked at him.
He hummed. “Yeah, I have. Maybe next time we should go somewhere less formal, though. Y’know, like a pub or somethin’. It’s not like I don’t enjoy bein’ all fancy, cause I do. But I feel like it’d be easier to talk without the pressure of this place. You get me?”
“Next time...?” You muttered. You had thought that, after the awfulness of this date tonight, Eggsy would just leave and that would be that. You hadn’t even considered a second date.
“Yeah, next time,” Eggsy nodded, taking a sip of his beer. “We’re definitely going out again, Gaheris. There’s no way you can ask me out once and expect that to be it.”
