"HTTYD 3" is books 9-12. Younger took Big Tooth with him in exile on Elder's request, to keep each other safe. They'd meet the Light Fury while on the run (who is Furious's right hand and is trying to kill them, mind you), and Grimmel would be one of the bounty hunters tracking down Minicup through Big Toothless. Unfortunate side effects of traveling with a night fury!

i like to imagine that tighnari had long, almost waist length hair in the academia. he would have taken extra care of it aswell (much like he does with his tail now), having different types of braids decorate it almost daily

but as pretty as his hair was, it also became a sort of hinderance for him after a while.

there was the occasional snide comment about how he must spend most of his time on his hair, rather than his studies or how some people would treat him more delicately even with his own blunt replies

as a scholar who just wanted to focus on his studies he just decided to cut his hair shorter.

afterwards cyno questioned him about it which lead to nari explaining all the small annoyances his hair brought his way

and with that everything calmed down, nari could actually finally focus on his studies, he would also find that shorter hair was also way more convenient while he was working with plants in Pardis Dhyai

fast forward some time and tighnari would start to notice something

cyno was no longer cutting his hair shorter and was just allowing it to grow out freely

nari would find out that cyno had deliberately chosen to stop cutting his hair cuz of the annoying people tighnari had to deal with as a way of saying 'fuck you' to them lmao
