was reading about narcos for reasons i can't recall now, but that colombians were not happy for a variety of reasons like so much media focusing on such a horrible, violent time in their country; not respecting or acknowledging the victims of the violence - but also because the cast is lacking colombians and the actor they cast for pablo escobar is brazilian and you can hear his fairly strong accent when he's speaking spanish (his native language is portuguese).
After all, Narcos is, or should be, a Colombian story. But in many ways, Colombians are absent from it—starting with the actor playing Escobar himself. The director Jose Padilha’s choice of fellow Brazilian Wagner Moura as Escobar, and the presence of several other non-Colombian actors, rendered immersion in the Narcos world difficult for me personally, and my wife, who is also Venezuelan, just left the room halfway through the first episode, with an exasperated “no puedo mas.” Despite Moura’s formidable presence and glower, his broken Spanish (which, to his credit, he learned specifically for the role) often distracted from any danger or intrigue otherwise emanating from his character. The real Escobar’s telltale Medellin “Paisa” accent was always a characteristic aspect of a larger-than-life public persona that Latin Americans, tragically, got to know all too well. I recall noting its singsong quality while watching local news coverage as a child in Caracas, the concerned grownups around me deliberating gloomily on just how broken our western neighbor had become.
The Key Thing Missing From Narcos
Colombians.
By Daniel Lansberg-Rodríguez for The Atlantic, 2015
blows my mind that instead of hiring a colombian, they had a brazilian learn spanish (????) for the role. wikipedia makes it sound like he just tried to pick up the paisa accent for the role, but elsewhere says he actually had to crash course spanish.
what a disservice to the actor and the story by the powers that be

"Fuck," you yelled, once you realized that you were now Mrs. Markstrom. This couldn't be happening. Your brain couldn't be remembering things right.
"Vad? Vada r fel?" Jacob mumbled in a haze of sleep, lifting his head to check on you. You had no idea that he was asking you what was wrong, as he automatically defaulted to Swedish in his drowsy state. "Are you ok?"
"No, no I'm not." Your voice was panicked and you were starting to break out in a cold sweat. "We're married!"
 His head flopped back down on the pillow. "Oh, that."
 Wait he knew and wasn't saying anything. "That," you said with a note of distress in your voice. "What do you mean 'oh, that?'"
 He turned his head so that he faced you, as you straightened your body so you could rest against the headboard; fighting the urge to get up and pace the room. "It was a joke. We just took a couple pictures with some Elvis."
 A joke? Ok, that kind of seemed like drunk you, after all everyone said you were a fun drunk. You sagged back against the mattress, breathing a sigh of relief. "So that's all it was, a joke?"
 "Mmmhmm." Well, that made you feel a bit better. "From what I remember it was. Things are a bit hazy." Jacob saying that, did not. He got up then, rolling onto his side and propping his head up. "I vaguely recall saying we were just going to snap some pictures and show your friend how silly it was to rush into things. I'm sure that's all we did." He had to be right, that part of the night still eluded you, though you do remember wandering into the chapel. "Though we can still pretend we're on our honeymoon if you want."
 His free hand, the one his head wasn't propped up on, slid under the duvet and across your midsection. His fingers wandering down to your core. His eyebrows wiggled suggestively, a silent plea for you to let him keep going. Now that you were a bit more relieved at knowing your marriage to him was some elaborate rouse, you were a bit more inclined for that second round with him, so you smiled giving him the green light to continue.
 Jacob didn't need to be told twice, as you felt his fingers widening your legs to give him access to your pussy. His fingertips lightly brushed against you and you sucked in a breath. "Fan du ar vat." You had to admit that Swedish wasn't the most seductive language, but when it rolled off his tongue it turned you into jelly. He recognized that you didn't know what he was saying and translated for you. "Fuck, you're wet." You were, there was no denying that, as this man just did things to you by simply giving you a look.
 He wasted no time sliding a finger inside you while his thumb brushed against your clit. You couldn't help the moan that escaped your lips as he made your body tingle with delight. "So sensitive, prinsessa. I love that." His mouth kissed the outside of your thigh as he still laid on his side, his fingers torturing you. "I may not remember all of last night," Jacob admitted. "But I remember hearing you moan." As if on cue, you groaned out when his finger hit your most delicate spot. "So pretty." He removed his fingers and you whined at the loss of contact. "Ride me, prinsessa." He rolled onto his back, giving your thigh a squeeze.
 There was no denying your needs right then. You wanted him inside you, so you straddled him. Knees on either side of his hips, you positioned his cock right at your entrance. You savored the feel of him sliding inside you as you sunk down on him slowly, fully engulfing his dick inside you. Jacob's hands slid up and down your sides caressing your body. After your tumble with him last night, you knew your hair had to be a disaster, so you ran your fingers through your locks, hoping to at least make yourself a bit more presentable as you rode him.
 Unbeknownst to you, the picture you painted Jacob was nothing short of pornography; arms raised above your head, tits bouncing, as you slowly moved your hips against him. While his memory of last night was a bit hazy, being buried inside you wasn’t. He clearly recalled needing to get ahold of himself before he spent in you too soon. Now was no different, as he gripped your hips hard then wildly bucked up into you.
 His movements thrilled you and had you bracing yourself against the headboard as he fucked you. He had told you to ride him but wasn’t willing to give over the reigns completely, but that was ok with you. He slowed his thrusts, giving you back just a bit of control, yet his hands lingered at your waist ready to take it back at any minute. You ran your hands up your side, then cupped your breasts, gently pulling on the nipples. “My god, you’re beautiful,” Jacob panted out as you looked down at him through hooded lashes.
 The sound of your bodies slapping together filled the room. Jacob’s fingertips dug into your ass cheeks as you picked up your pace, riding him earnestly now. His hips met you every time you ground down on him. At one point Jacob couldn’t take it anymore and he moved his one hand so he could toy with your clit. “Oh fuck,” you breathed out when he rubbed the little nub. “Jacob…I’m gonna…” The rest was a garbled mess as you came hard grinding down on his rock-hard cock inside you.
 “Yes, prinsessa.” Jacob watched you fall apart loving every emotion that played across your face. It pushed him over the edge and with a few more thrusts he spilled his cum deep inside your cunt.
 Your body was spent as you sagged forward on top of Jacob. You were both breathing hard, chest heaving in an effort to draw in more air. After a few seconds, you felt his lips on you; kissing your forehead, your nose, and then finally your lips. The kiss was sweet and loving, perfect after the sweaty and exhausting sex that had just happened. “Min vackra prinsessa,” he whispered, tucking your hair behind your ear as it had cascaded around the two of you obscuring his view of your face. “Too bad our marriage is a joke, for I could get used to that.”
 “We don’t have to be married for you to enjoy that again.” You pecked his lips then lifted off of him and rolled onto your side of the bed. “Come see me in LA anytime.”
 “You realize I’ll be there at least four times with my schedule, and San Jose isn’t too far from you.” His body was turned towards you so that you could see the seriousness in his face.
 “Well, I expect to be seeing my fake husband when he’s in town.” You gave him a little wink before adding, “And I think the trip to San Jose would be totally worth it.” He got up then and walked to the bathroom. You heard the water running and it wasn’t more than a minute or two before he was back at the bed.
 “Here.” He brought you a glass of water and a couple aspirin. It was exactly what you needed.
 “Thank you.”
 “Sleep, it’s still early, then we’ll shower later.” He dropped a kiss to your lips while tucking the covers up around then crawling into bed with you. He tucked you into his side and you swiftly drifted back to sleep.
 It was a couple hours later that Jacob woke up before you. His mind troubled with thoughts. It wasn’t a bad dream so much as a nagging feeling eating away at him. He carefully removed himself from the bed careful not to disturb you as you continued to sleep on peacefully. Covering himself with a pair of boxer briefs, he grabbed a bottle of water then sat down on the sofa in the suite. On the table lay the pictures from your fake wedding. He picked them up, laughing to himself at the photo on top. It was a dramatic shot of him asking you to marry him, and you acting shocked. He vaguely remembered doing that but the rest was all a blur. He leafed through the other shots. One of a fake Elvis, which seemed to be typical Vegas style, another of you kissing him after the proposal, still more of you being married by Elvis. They would all make for a cute memory of his time with you. Hell, part of him wished that he was married to you. He wouldn’t mind being buried balls deep in you every night.
 Jacob finally got to the last photo, or what he thought was the last picture; only it was some sort of document. He flipped it so that he could read it better. “Fuck,” he whispered softly as he read the words so nicely scripted across the paper. It seemed to be a marriage license, signed not only by both of you but the Elvis impersonator as well, whose name wasn’t Elvis and seemed to be a legitimately licensed marriage officiant.
 He needed to find out if this was real, so grabbing the hotel phone off the end table, he called the chapel. “Hello Mr. Markstrom, how can I help you?” An overly cheerful woman answered the phone.
 “Um, yeah, so I was wondering…I was there last night with…” He had to look down at the license to remember your last night. “Ms. (Y/LN) and I have our license in my hand. I was just wondering how valid this is?”
 “Oh, I can assure you Mr. Markstrom that it is one hundred percent authentic and has been filed electronically with the courthouse. You and Ms. (Y/LN) are indeed married. We make sure to dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s before we let you leave.”
 Jacob covered the phone then muttered, “Fuck.”
 “Is there anything else you need?”
 “No, um…I’m good. Thank you.”
 “No problem and congratulations again to you and the new Mrs. Markstrom.”
 Jacob hung up the phone and swore furiously in Swedish. You stirred, hearing something but not really registering what was going on, as you blinked your eyes several times clearing the sleep from them. The bed was empty next to you, and you found yourself sitting up looking for Jacob. He wasn’t in the bathroom, so you got up and padded out to where the seating area was. Sure enough there he was sitting with his head in his hand. “Head hurt that bad?” He groaned in reply. “Come back to bed and I’ll make it feel better.”
 He lifted his head up and turned to you then, a serious look in his eyes. “You’re not going to like this, prinsessa.” Well, if he was calling you princess again, it couldn’t be all bad. You raised an eyebrow in query. “Apparently, we’re married.”
 “Right, you told me it was a joke.” You sat down on the couch beside him, noticing the scattered photos on the table. “See, like I would ever get married by some Elvis doppelganger.”
 “It wasn’t a joke.” He handed over what looked like a marriage license, a very authentic one at that. Leave it to Vegas to be thorough even in practical joking. “There’s a seal on it and everything.” He was right there, but that would mean that this was real.
 “Oh, no….no, no, no….no. This isn’t real. You said…”
 “I know what I thought, but I wasn’t one hundred percent sure. So I called.” There was a look of dread on his face. "The paperwork has already been filed at the courthouse. Yay for technology."
 You knew he was trying to find a bit of humor in this mess, but frankly, you didn't find it funny at all. "Now what?"
 "I was just trying to come up with that when you came in."
 It hit you then, the solution to your problem. Maybe if you hadn't drunk enough alcohol to float a small ship last night it would've come to you sooner. "We'll just get an annulment."
 "Is that possible, after last night and well this morning?"
 "Hmm, I hadn't thought about that. Well, divorce it is." It wasn't ideal and you can't imagine having to explain it down the line, years from now, when you finally found someone you wanted to be tied down to, but it was the answer to your problem.
 Jacob seemed to mull it over a bit, and it struck you that he might be religious and that this might not be an option after all. "I'll make a phone call," he finally told you and you breathed out a sigh of relief. It took the two of you several minutes to locate your phones but eventually, you found them. While Jacob called his lawyer, you checked your messages. There were several texts from the girls saying they were heading to breakfast, so you shot one off yourself. There was no way you were meeting them yet, so you cried off stating that you were still hungover from the day before. You were really going to need to patch things up with Kennedy after all this trip was about her. Hopefully, you could share a laugh with her about this whole mess.
 A curse word muttered, or at least you thought it was, one in Swedish, brought you back to the situation at hand, and you looked at Jacob expectantly. "Apparently, it's not as easy as we think." He blew out a very frustrated sigh. "It's still doable, but it's going to take a lot longer than I expected."
 "How long?"
 "A couple months after the papers are signed and filed, possibly more."
 "What!?! You've got to be kidding me." That didn't make any sense at all. Shouldn't you be able to get a quickie divorce in a week when both parties were in agreement?
 "Well, my citizenship is one factor, but apparently it just takes that kind of time."
 "We got married in like, what...seconds. I don't understand." You started scrolling through your contacts looking for Aaron's number, then hit it and started to walk away.
 "Who are you calling?"
 "A friend, who's also an attorney." Aaron worked for the same firm as you, only in the legal department. Surely he'd dealt with a celebrity or two that had this same problem.
 You gave Aaron the condensed version of what happened, hoping that he'd come through and be your savior. "I hate to say it (Y/N), this Jacob's attorney is right. It's going to take you that long, if not longer." A growl of frustration was all you gave as an answer. "Cheer up babe, it could be worse."
 "Really? How so?"
 "Well, you could've picked some homeless guy off the street. At least this one sounds decent, and it's not like you have to move to Canada or Sweden while you wait this out. Just go on about your business."
 "I know, you're right. Thanks for your help, Aaron. I'll see you in a day or two." With that, you hung up the phone and headed back to Jacob.
 "Looks like you didn't fare any better."
 You sat heavily down on the couch. "No, not at all. Looks like we better start filing so we can get this done sooner than later." The look in Jacob's eye had you questioning things. You had thought you both were on the same page. Sure last night and this morning were fun, but what did you really know about each other. He couldn't really be thinking about staying married. When you couldn't take it any longer, you blurted out, "what?"
 He shook his head. "Nothing." When you gave him that look that said you didn't believe him he finally fessed up. "You're wearing my shirt."
 "Oh, sorry. I realized when I was on the phone I didn't have anything on. Hope you don't mind."
 Jacob actually didn't mind at all, in fact, he kind of liked you in it, which was a new feeling. "No, not at all. Though I'll admit I like you without anything on as well."
 It was hard to stop your eyes from rolling at his words especially at a time like this, but somehow you managed to. "While I appreciate the compliment, we should probably figure out what we're going to do." It was then that you looked at him, in only his boxers. His washboard abs calling out to your fingertips to just run over them, not to mention the strain of his cock against those briefs. You bit your lip just thinking about the things that you wanted to do to him and have him do to you. "And once that's done, then we can celebrate our divorce."
 "I like the way you think." He scooted you closer on the couch so that your legs were draped over his. "I was thinking that while you were on the phone, that I can just have my lawyer handle things. He said he could have everything drawn up in a couple days since we don't have to split up a house or any belongs."
 "That's fine. You can email me them and I'll just sign and send them back."
 "He did mention one thing, though I'm loathed to bring it up." His hand was traveling up and down your shins making it hard to think, but you were intent upon getting this divorce started.
 "Just tell me, after all, we are married, and married people shouldn't have secrets right?" I mean it was a bad joke, you'll admit that, but then if you couldn't laugh about this shamble of a mess you may start to cry.
 "He wanted to make sure that you weren't after, well...you know."
 Your eyebrows drew together as you tried to figure out his meaning, and then it hit you. "Oh my god! No, I'm not after any money. I would never and it's not like I don't have my own. I mean it's probably not anything close to what you make, but I do bring in quite a bit. Oh my god, I'm rambling. But no, no, I don't want a cent from you."
 "I told him I thought that was the case, but he wanted me to be sure."
 "Ok as long as you didn't think that."
 Jacob was quick to tell you he didn't. "No, not at all. If I'm being honest, I think getting married was my idea, if I remember right."
 "I wish I could remember more, though these pictures do bring back a few memories. I can't remember how we got these rings though. What is this cubic zirconia?"
 "Umm, nope." His cheeks started to turn a delightful shade of red. "My credit card tells me it's a diamond."
 "Oh Jacob," you exclaimed, taking off the ring. "This has to be a fortune. It's at least three carats." Quickly, you put the ring in his hand as if it was going to burn you. This fake marriage had caused enough damage that he didn't need to be on the hook for a ring that you'd never wear again.
 "You know I can afford it right?"
 "Of course, I know that. You just shouldn't have to pay for my mistake."
 "It wasn't just your mistake." It was sweet of him to try and shoulder the blame, but if you wouldn't have had that tiff with Kennedy, then you wouldn't have gotten drunk ass stupid and married him. "We both did this, but there's no point in arguing about it. In a few short months, this marriage will be over."
 "True."
 "Let me give him a quick call and get things started." You went to move but Jacob stilled you with his arm. The conversation was brief, his hand was inching further up your thighs during the entire call, sending delightful tingles all over your body. As soon as he hung up, that same hand reached your core. "So now that that's settled. What about that celebration? You know while we're still married and all."
 You'd already said you weren't making it to brunch with everyone, so there was really no reason, not to indulge in what you wanted. Scooting up a little further onto his lap, you grabbed the back of his neck and drew his lips down to yours. One kiss melted into another and another until neither of you could take it any longer and Jacob took you there on the sofa. After that, it was round 4 in the shower.
 You and Jacob exchanged numbers so that you could keep in touch while the divorce papers were being worked on by his lawyer. Since both of you were still in Vegas another night, you agreed to meet up a little later. Jacob claiming that it was safer to be with his 'wife' than out looking for another one.
 It was an hour after leaving Jacob before you were knocking on Kennedy’s door, there to apologize for everything you said to her the day before. She opened the door, and without so much as a hello, grabbed your arm and hauled you inside. “You have to tell me everything that happened?” How the hell did she know what had happened with Jacob. She was your best friend and all, but the last time you checked she was not a psychic. “I called Ryan and he told me those guys were from the Canucks, which happen to be his favorite hockey team in the world.” Somehow you really weren’t shocked to find that out. Considering Ryan was from Seattle and an avid sports fan. “When Jade told me, you were hooking up with one of them, I died. I need to know everything.”
 Oh, you weren’t sure if she was ready to hear everything. “Can I first apologize for being an absolute asshole to you yesterday?”
 “You can, but there’s no need. I know your feelings about marriage and how you think we’re rushing into it. I get that you were just looking out for me and only want me to be happy, and you know I’ll be happy with Ryan. I wasn’t really mad at you, per se. It was more about smoothing things over with Gretchen. You know how she can be.” You did know how Gretchen was, which was why you felt even worse for saying what you did, when you did. “(Y/N), you’re the closest thing I’ll ever have to a sister, and nothing you say is ever going to change that.”
 You enveloped her in a massive hug. There were times that you felt as if you and Kennedy were twins separated at birth and it was nice to know she felt that way too. “I really am sorry.”
 “It’s already forgiven. Now, tell me everything that happened, or more importantly; can you get any of their autographs so I can take them back to Ryan?”
 “Oh, I’m pretty sure I can get us seats to any game if he wants to go?”
 Kennedy's face was filled with a mixture of shock and joy. “Really?”
 “Yeah, I’m pretty sure they have a family suite or something for wives to sit in.”
 This time you watched as that same shocked look turned into confusion. “I’m not following you?”
 “Well…I kind of sort of…” Kennedy might be your best friend, who knew you better than yourself, but you still didn’t know how to tell her this. It was always easiest to just rip the bandaid off, you supposed. “That is…I got married last night.”
 “YOU WHAT?”
 “Little louder, Kenny I don’t think they heard you at the Bellagio.”
 “I’m sorry but you cannot just drop that bomb on me and expect me not to shout at you like you lost your damn mind.” Ok, she had a point. You had in fact lost your mind and your memory. Damn alcohol. “You need to tell me everything right now.”
 It took you a half hour to tell Kennedy all the details of what had happened with Jacob. She was stunned, to say the least. In the end, the only thing she wanted to know was if you were now her matron of honor instead of maid. Leave it to Kennedy to make you laugh at a time like this. She agreed to keep your marriage a secret from the other girls and you hoped that she didn’t blurt it out like she did your little sexcapade with Superman, though she insisted that all of you meet up with Jacob and some of his teammates that night.
  Like you, Jacob had only told one other person about what happened that night, his friend and teammate Chris; to everyone else, it just seemed as though you two were very interested in one another. At the end of the night, you were fumbling back into his suite, divesting him of every garment he had on, while he did the same to you. The next morning, you said your goodbyes but decided to keep in touch. Jacob promised you there would be tickets with your name on them anytime you wanted them in Vancouver and that he’d definitely see you when he was in LA. It was something you were definitely looking forward to. Despite the whole marriage debacle, or maybe because of it, you had to say that your trip to Las Vegas was one you were definitely going to remember for a lifetime.
 Twenty-four hours later, when you were back in your own place, still trying to rehydrate from the past seventy-two hours, is when you received a phone call from Jacob. He called to make sure that you got back to Los Angeles and that everything was fine. It was actually kind of sweet. It was about sixteen hours after that, that you found yourself calling him after his first practice. One conversation rolled into the next and so on until you were talking at least twice a day. He talked about hockey and his life in Sweden as well as Vancouver, while you told him about LA and your job there. Family and friends were a topic that came up often, almost to a point that you felt as if his teammates were your friends as well. Sure, there were the occasional nights where phone sex ended up taking place, though you had to admit it was much better than some of the dates you’d gone on in the past. If one was on the outside looking in, they probably wouldn’t understand why you were actually going through with the divorce. That thought didn’t stop you from signing the documents and sending them back to Jacob though.
 As the season started, Jacob still made time to talk to you every day. He even started to wonder if the circumstances had been different and the two of you had met in Vancouver or LA, would you be an actual couple at this point. He had to admit that your conversations were the highlight of his day. You were smart and funny with a wit about you that he enjoyed, and well to say that you were attractive was a complete understatement in his book. If Jacob was being honest with himself, you were his ideal woman.
 Which is why when the divorce papers came in, almost a month after he met you, he simply threw them on his desk and vowed to take them to his attorney soon. Unfortunately, he forgot he had an extended road trip coming up, which made him forget about them completely. They only crossed his mind once while he was gone when you’d asked him if he got them. He tried to make a mental note to remember them when he got home, but not only did they slip his mind, but they also got buried in a mountain of mail on his desk.
 The following week when he got home was a bit crazy. He missed a night in calling you when a game went into overtime. When he tried to the next day you didn’t answer. Jacob tried not to give it too much thought or take it personally, though his mind told him differently. He knew that you had a big ad campaign coming up and that work had started to consume your life. He just hoped it wasn’t with some hot male stripper or movie star.
 When you didn’t answer the phone the following three days, Jacob started to believe that what the two of you had or were starting to have, never really existed. He had resigned himself that he’d probably never see or hear from you again. Oh, how he was wrong.

A/N: Shoutout to @multiyfandomgirl40 and @firebenderwolf for making me do a taglist. I'm still in awe that people enjoy the fics I write. Be sure to check out their fics (or re-read them), you won't regret it! Grammatical errors are to be expected. Spanish Translations below, let me know if there are any errors.
Characters/Pairing(s): Sad Eyes x Reader ☆ OCs (readers best friends)
Summary: Wine just brings out a different side of (Y/N). Not that her boyfriend is complaining.
Warnings: fluff, language, references to smut, tipsy reader
Word Count: 1638

The Mean Girls credits rolled onto the screen, so (Y/N) tossed the remote to Kyra as she got up and walked into the kitchen. Opening up the fridge, she looked through the selection Maelyse had brought with her. Unsure of what to get, Joy popped up beside her and grabbed the Merlot. (Y/N) shrugged her shoulders and decided to grab the rest of the snacks instead.
Tomorrow, the tight knit group of friends would officially have a wife among them. They were all excited for the big day, especially the bride to be Maelyse. The past few months had all of them busy. However, through it all, they all remained level-headed and it solidified Mae's choice in choosing them to be her bridesmaids. Instead of going to celebrate her last night of being a fiancé out in the city, Mae decided on having a quiet night in.
Each of them had their own rooms within the suite, but chose to all camp out in the living room for the night.
"How are you feeling?" (Y/N) asked Mae as she placed the snacks on the coffee table that had been pushed to the side.
She smiled, "great."
Joy shook her head, "and to think you getting married is because Scott sent a text to the wrong number.
"I wouldn't say it was wrong," Mae flashed her engagement ring, "after all he ended up with the right woman."
(Y/N) and Joy both awed, while Kyra scoffed.
"Okay, enough of the cheesiness, y'all know I'm lactose intolerant," everyone laughed at her, "let's give a toast for wrong numbers."
"To wrong numbers!"
They all raised their wine glasses, clinked them together and took a drink. When (Y/N) placed her glass down, she noticed a notification pop up on her screen. With the quick flash she smiled down at her screensaver. A photo of her and Jose sitting on a mat with a picnic basket and a bouquet of daffodils beside them. (Y/N) leaning back into his embrace and Jose wrapping his arms around her.
He had set his phone up to "capture the moment", he had told her. (Y/N) didn't really suspect anything of it considering she loved a good photo op. She remembered that day so clearly, as it was when Jose officially asked her to be his girlfriend. Bringing the bouquet of daffodils to symbolise the new beginning for both of them.
Kyra noticed (Y/N) staring at her phone and nudged her shoulder playfully, "is somebody missing their novio?"
"Shut up," she replied.
Mae laughed, "he's coming tomorrow, right?"
(Y/N) nodded, "yeah, he'll be there."
She was happy that Jose would join her. It would be the first event they'd be attending as a couple – Santos parties and dinners with her family didn't really count. Plus she was extremely excited to see him dressed up.
Joy smiled and grabbed some Doritos to munch on, "Nana Julie is gonna be disappointed when she finds out you're in a relationship. She's been trying to set you up with Carlos for years."
"Accepting the ring pop in front of her was the beginning of her attempts of getting the two of you together," Mae piped up.
(Y/N) rolled her eyes, "we were seven."
Kyra smirked, "my favourite part was when you found out he gave Vivian a ring pop the day before and told him you weren't a homewrecker," she laughed.
"That just showed how committed I was, even back then," she replied, "I kinda felt bad after I stuck the ring pop in his hair. He had to shave it all off 'cause Nana Julie ended up giving him a bald spot when she ripped it out."
They continued to drink, eat and talk. Laughing at the memories they created with each other and cringing when they talked about their awkward teenage years. All of which they agreed they were happy they were no longer living through it.
On the other side of town, Jose was chilling in his apartment. He wasn't really doing anything, other than making sure his outfit for Mae's wedding was put away nicely. He had just come back from his mother's house 'cause he needed help ironing it. While she was ironing, she kept talking about how proud she was of him for finding (Y/N). He laughed when she began to hint at grandchildren. His response was if it happened, it happened. Although, he already knew that (Y/N) was the only woman he ever pictured having kids with.
Closing his closet door, he moved from his bedroom into the hallway. His mind on (Y/N) and hoping she was having a blast with her girls. When he began dating her, her friends were a bit apprehensive due to his association with the Santos. However, when they realised he actually cared for (Y/N) they eased up. Now, whenever he saw them there wasn't any awkwardness.
Before he reached the kitchen, he felt a vibration against his thigh. Confused, he pulled out his phone and saw (Y/N)'s contact name pop up. With a smile, he quickly answered, "Hola, querida."
"Ooooh did you hear that girls? Did. You. Fucking. Hear. My. Man? I don't think you did. He spoke Spanish! Fuck he sounds so sexy –" was all Jose heard before a bunch of giggles muffled his girlfriend's voice. He couldn't help but chuckle, quickly figuring out that he was on speaker and (Y/N) was tipsy (if her slightly slurred rambling was anything to go by). A loud shushing noise was followed by more rambling, "– like… he's just so ‐‐ urg! He's a snack… no h-he's more than that he's breakfast… and lunch… and dinner. Yeah! Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Wait, no… uh, what's that place – buffet! He's. A. Fucking. Buffet! Yes, he is. And I'll gladly eat all day long."
Jose smirked, "you're everything and more bebe."
"Oh shit, I forgot I was on the phone," she giggled, "hey, baby! I love you!" She let out a heavy sigh, "I miss you! Can I see you? I wanna see you."
Never being able to deny her of anything, he quickly ended their call and switched to FaceTime. He only waited for a few seconds before (Y/N)'s face popped up, practically covering the screen. Jose laughed as she grinned widely, before shuffling back allowing him to see her surrounded by her best friends. All of whom were wearing matching pink pajama sets, except for Maelyse whose set was white. They all waved, Jose nodding back at them.
"Isn't he handsome?" (Y/N) glanced over her shoulder, "and he's mine." She sighed happily focusing back on the screen. "I love you!"
He smiled, "I love you too, bebe." His eyes spotted some wine glasses in the background with snacks. "You seem to be having a great time."
"The bestest time ever!" She cheered, the girls cheering alongside her. "We're getting wine drunk and eating all the snacks. But, I wanna see you," she pouted.
"Don't make that face," he sighed, "you're seeing me now, bebe."
"It's not the same… I want you here!" She huffed.
He raised an eyebrow, "(Y/N)."
"Ooooh, you called me (Y/N)." Her eyes widened, "you must mean business," she giggled. "I like it when you say my name… especially when you're –"
"Baby," this time his eyes widened.
The girls in the background fell over each other laughing, while (Y/N) looked at them confused. This made Joy laugh harder. Maelyse leaned over and whispered in her ear. (Y/N) bit her lip, causing Kyra to wrap her arms around her shoulders and scream about 'the baby not being as innocent as everyone thought'. Shaking her head, she turned back to the screen and shrugged her shoulders.
"I meant when you're sleepy 'cause your voice gets even sexier," she explained, "but… yeah, when we're doing stuff too. I really like that part."
The way she said it so nonchalantly made Jose snort and shake his head. His girl was something else. The camera shifted to show off a pile of blankets and pillows, before revealing her nude painted toenails. He patiently waited until (Y/N)'s face came back on the screen and once it did, she was laying on a bed.
"I can't wait to see you all dressed up," she commented, "like – fuck, you're already the sexiest man. But… imagining you in a suit and tie is doing things to me."
He smirked, "is that right?"
Biting her lip, she nodded, "yeah… a whole lot of things," she glanced over her phone before back at the screen, "after the wedding is when the real fun starts."
"I look forward to it."
"You should 'cause I brought your favourite set with me, so I can wear it underneath my dress."
"Baby, don't do that to me," he groaned.
"Sorry not sorry," she giggled.
They chatted a bit more until Mae called out for (Y/N) that it was time to say goodbye and get back to celebrating. At the same time Oso gestured towards Jose that he was needed. With a reluctant sigh from both of them, they smiled at each other.
"Looks like we've both gotta go, querida," he told her, "but I'll see you tomorrow, okay? Do you need me to bring anything to the hotel?"
"Can I have some (fast food) for breakfast?"
He laughed, "of course baby, anything else?"
She shook her head, "no that's it," she blew him a kiss, "I really gotta go now 'cause I can hear Mae calling my full name," she huffed, "I love you!"
"I love you too, baby."
Once they hung up, they both had the same thought; morning couldn't come soon enough.

Further Notes: And the long awaited chapter is here! Four chapters after this are left, are you ready?
You watched Sylvain from across the room. You had told Mercedes, who came to check up on you, that you weren’t feeling too well that day and was going to skip classes earlier today and she simply agreed and wished you a happy rest. None of the other Lions were particularly concerned about Sylvain’s absence, it wouldn’t have been the first time this semester when it occurred after all. But now that your hands were free from their snares, your mind wandered back to the night before only more often, and it drove you insane.
What did he mean by that?
Well, of course you knew. It wasn’t the first time you’ve heard him say it, but for some reason it felt different. You weren’t dense. You knew that boy caught feelings for you, and he caught them hard. But you truly didn’t feel the same—
Wait, actually?
You relaxed in your seat in the classroom and watched him yammer on to Felix. Would being in a relationship with Sylvain be that bad? Then you watched as another female student blew him a kiss, to which he winked back at her as if it was just a reflex and you scoffed to yourself.
“What was I even thinking?” You rolled your eyes and opened your book. But some strange thought compelled you for a moment and you shut your book and looked back to who you thought was your older brother figure and your best friend and huffed slightly. “Well…”
You knew Sylvain, you knew him well. If you looked past the obvious flirt, he’s actually a very deep person with very deep insecurities. He’s a lot smarter than people chalk him up to be, and truthfully you don’t think he’s be a bad boyfriend, but he would have to be as hooked to you as you are to him, otherwise you’re just set up for heartbreak.
Now you know Sylvain’s got it bad for you, you didn’t miss the way he blushed, you just elected to ignore it, but at the same time that’s just Sylvain. He gets hooked on one girl, then it dies out like a flame in the rain. You’re very close with him, that much is fact, and you’re really not sure if risking your near sixteen years of friendship is worth a relationship. But there lies the possibility that he is that infatuated with you, but now it’s the argument of is it love or is it infatuation, because both are two very different things, to your understanding. If you were to ask him, truth be told, he’d probably say they’re the same thing.
Now for a brief lesson on the whims of love, as presented by Professor Byleth to his colleagues. The origin of ‘Love’ and the origin of ‘Infatuation’ do stem from the same roots, they start in the heart, but it is where that feeling travels to that differentiates the two. As many might protest against, infatuation travels to the head, while love travels to the rest of the body. Infatuation is to be defined as the being obsessed with the simple idea of being in a relationship, and in this case that is a majority of Sylvain’s feelings in general. Where as love is something that encases one whole, it is the simple deciding factor that allows you to put the other before yourself when necessary, but at the same time to prioritize yourself when you must.
To bring this back to your situation, you know Sylvain enough to know that the boy is constantly hooked on the idea, but never on the truth. You trust Sylvain, you really do, after all, it is him you go to before the others most of the time, he has the best insights once he drops his dumb-jock facade and decides to become an actually decent guy.
“Um… (Name)?” Dimitri tapped your shoulder and you are pulled out of your in-depth analysis.
Dimitri.
Whenever you think you’ve gotten over him, he just has to show his dumb face in front of you in his dumb school uniform with that dumb blue cape and his dumb blue eyes and you feel yourself falling for him all over again. You feel bad for Sylvain, he had to sit through you talking about Dimitri over and over again for years, you thought about apologizing, but whenever you gave a hint to, Sylvain would reassure you that it was fine.
Dimitri is such an enigma, let that be known. You had known him for years, thanks to your mother, and you have seen his rises and falls and everything in between. But the question now arises, is what you feel for Dimitri love or infatuation?
“Oh, hey, Dima, what’s up?” You force a smile on your face and he eyes you suspiciously.
“I was wondering if you could help me out with bow training?” He asked.
Oh, you almost forgot about that. Dimitri’s strong proclamation of switching to bow skills, one you wouldn’t have seen coming from a mile away, but one that wasn’t a horrible surprise. You nodded.
“Sure, I’ll try to get you a silver bow so it doesn’t break again,” you laugh. And there’s another thing that was on your long list of ‘WHY I LOVE DIMITRI.’ It’s the honesty, the way you could read his feelings on his face. The first thing you noticed was how the tips of his ears would turn red first before the rest of his face did, then he would do that nervous side glance that would send your heart racing. Sometimes you were afraid that people would be able to tell how whipped you were for the young prince because, truth be told, the odds of you and Dimitri being end game were short, very short. He’s a prince and you’re a commoner who just happened to be lucky enough to be a part of the lives of nobles, it was just not meant to be.
You would describe your story as a complicated romantic plot. But the boy behind you would describe it as a sob story. As frivolous as he seems, Sylvain is in no way an idiot. He knows your feelings for the Prince, and he knows Dimitri’s feelings for you, there’s no way he could ever stand a chance against the crown prince of Fhirdiad, and in your heart, your relationship has plateaued at ‘Sibling-Like,’ a placement he wasn’t happy with, but one he was willing to maintain.
“Honestly, Sylvain, look at you, you’re pathetic,” Felix scoffs. “You’d might as well just tell her how you feel so you could stop looking like such an oaf when she does as much as breathe.”
“It’s just that we’ve been friends for so long, I don’t think I should say anything,” Sylvain kept his carefree smile on his face, but his words were somber. “Plus, her and Dimitri have a bond we could never have.”
“I don’t think so, but alright,” Felix shrugs. “I’ve had enough of your moping, take action or I will for you.” Sylvain blew a piece of his hair out of the way and slumped his shoulders.
“Yeah, I hear you, Felix,” he groans. The door to the classroom opens and Byleth walks in, tomes and papers stacked in his hands. He tosses them on the table and turns to the class.
“I hope you’re all ready for your first mission as students. Bandit removal, make sure your weapons are ready and repaired, we move out in a few hours,” he instructs. The class affirms his questions collectively and next thing they knew it, they were at the drop-off location, getting in formation.
This wouldn’t be your first time going against enemies, which is sad enough to say. But the life of a commoner isn’t one of luxury. When you weren’t with your mother in the castle, you were with your father at home, home being a small cottage in the middle of the woods since your father was a paranoid maniac.
It sounds cruel, but there’s no other way to put it. From a young age you had to do things for him, and that included making sure people who were hellbent on killing your father, claiming that he was “cursed” or whatever new word they cooked up for him, weren’t a problem. When did it start again? You had to have been ten at least, right?
Oh, goddess above, you just realized how bad that sounded.
Let’s set something straight, you’ve never killed anyone! Gods no. You just scared them away, is all, enough for them not to come back to hurt your father.
Now the person who taught you how to use your sword in the first place was your father, before the “Goddess please take my life away as well as my wife and child” blubber he spouted out, in fact, he was also involved in the Monastery’s defenses, until he was untimely “retired” as Seteth put it.
Another unknown fact to most, actually you didn’t recall ever telling your friends either, you had connections in the Monastery even before you were admitted to the Officers Academy, mainly for fear of being disparaged since you were technically only let in because of “connections,” and goodness how you hated using that word but it was all that was there to use. As far as your classmates know, you got in because of good grades.
Which you believe would have been right, if only you actually went to school.
# Commoner Things.
Regardless, Dimitri and Ingrid’s books always kept you as educated as you had to be.
But let’s get back to the story.
“(Name), I want you and Felix to work together for this battle,” Byleth instructs. “You two should play off of each other well, focus on bow skills.”
“Right,” you nod. You link your arms with Felix. “Guess you’re stuck with me, Lix.”
“Great, now I have to babysit while I’m in battle,” Felix rolls his eyes and you smile.
“I feel like I never partner up with you anymore! What’s the worst that could happen?” You shrug.
“With your luck? Murphy’s Law is your best friend, (Name).”
“Don’t be like that, don’t worry, I have your back!”
That exchange was ten minutes ago.
You and Felix have been pushed back and essentially cornered by the enemy bandits, and the rest of the class was on the whole other side of the battle field.
But it wasn’t your fault! Felix was the one who was cocky enough to think he could handle the west side by himself, and you had to follow him because otherwise Byleth would have failed you. So now the both of you were hiding behind a rock, out of Vulnaries, and on the brink of exhaustion. And since the Professor wanted you to focus on your bow skills he may or may not have confiscated your sword, and Felix was being a dick and not letting you use his.
“How many arrows do you have left?”
“Uh… six.”
“How many enemies are left?”
“Uh… also six.” You hold your bow close to you and Felix holds both of your shoulders.
“Look, (Name), I always make fun of you and say you will never amount to anything because you are a commoner—“
“Geez, Lix, I get it, I’m worthless, chill out.”
“But right now this is me telling you that you can and you will one shot all those enemies because otherwise we will both die out here.”
“Well maybe if you gave me your sword—“
“It’s broken, (Name), you really think I’d give this to you and toss you out there? If Sylvain doesn’t kill me, Dimitri will tear my innards out.”
“Right. Okay,” you nod in tiny. “I dunno, Lix, my hit rate is one to six.”
“You can do it, I know that better than the others,” he shakes you slightly.
“Okay, okay, but if I die I am so convincing the Goddess to let me come back down so I can strangle you.”
“Deal. Now go kill those bandits.”
“Right, okay, right,” you nodded your head again.
Quick reminder, you’ve never killed anyone.
Also quick reminder, you don’t specialize in bow.
Also another reminder, last time you killed a fly you cried.
Okay, good luck, (Name).
You stood up and drew your bow back, focusing on the closest bandit, taking a deep breath in, you adjusted your stance, remembering Claude’s words, and as you exhale, you release the arrow, following it’s trail and hitting the enemy, leaving him out of commission.
“Oh gods, I did it. I actually did that… I am so sorry, I am so so sorry,” your expressions shifted dramatically. Felix poked his head out from behind the rock.
“See what did I tell you, (Name)? Go fuck some shit up!”
“Watch your language, Frauldarius,” you draw your next arrow, a new found confidence setting in you, and aim for your next target. Maybe you’re imagining it, but there was something different about how you were using your bow today, something more intense, to put it simply. Did arrows really fly that fast? And was a wooden bow really that strong enough to eliminate the enemies in one hit?
All questions for later.
Finally there was one last bandit and, using the same technique as the previous bandits, you took your shot.
And missed.
“You missed?!” Felix ran both hands through his hair.
“I told you I was a beginner!”
“So you miss your target the one time you shouldn’t miss?!”
“Oh shut up, Felix, you’re lucky I got the first five!”
“You two are really arguing, at a time like this?” The bandit halted in his tracks.
“Yeah we are, fuck off,” Felix grumbles. You glare at the bandit, grab Felix’s broken-ass sword, and drive it into the bandit’s chest.
“Don’t fucking interrupt me!” You growled. “Anyways, I don’t understand why you’re so unreasonable, Felix, you don’t see me complaining about your attitude 24/7.”
“That’s because you’re weak.”
“Say that again to my face!”
“I did!”
And the argument continued for the Goddess only knows how long and it finally ended when the Professor found the two of you and explained that the battle had been long over, then after a thorough scolding for worrying the entirety of the class, the two of you just decided not to talk to one another. Although you did find some joy in seeing Ingrid nag Felix about his broken sword, going off about how he should have checked before their very important first mission. But then your joy ended when she turned her anger towards you and lectured you on how you should have some respect for the people who were older than you, and also how you shouldn’t argue in battle since it’s “distracting” to the other classmates, but how could it be “distracting” if it was only you and Felix?
Either way, you had a bitter attitude for the rest of the week, and none of the Blue Lions were brave enough to go up to you and even make small talk.
And it wasn’t until Friday night when Felix decided to man up and go up to you.

For the writing prompts: harbinger!
star wars, rogue one/the mandalorian crossover, feat. Cassian, Jyn, and Din Djarin (includes cameos from the Child and a certain scavanger and timeline? What timeline?)
when they first broke down on the backwater planet, Jyn grimly resigns herself to cobbling their engine back together with whatever spare parts they can buy, barter or borrow (i.e. steal). Never mind the fact that she and Cassian are on a fact-gathering mission for Leia Organa. It’s going to put them at least two sun cycles off schedule, and that’s just going to make Cassian twitch.
Both of them are respectable, competent mechanics, so they put Kay in charge of guarding the ship and head out to the nearest outpost. “Jakku has a reputation for scavangers,” Cassian says to Jyn. “The last thing we need is someone decided they need Kay’s chassis or circuit board.”
“Isn’t he considered an antique?” Jyn asks.
She can see Cassian suppress a grin before saying in a tone of mild rebuke, “He’s a decorated veteran. Show some respect.”
“Sure,” Jyn says. “As soon as he shows me some.” The joke being, of course, he won’t. Unless it’s in his own special way.
The outpost is dingy and dusty, but there’s no shortage of parts from who-knows how many ships scattered around. “Jakku has had star destroyers crash on it since the last days of the Republic,” Cassian tells Jyn in an undertone. “The inhabitants make their living off of selling the parts.”
Jyn adjusts the fall of her scarf, feels for her truncheon and blaster on her hip and thigh. Some of the inhabitants look like children.
A commotion draws both their attention from the far side of the market. A babble of various dialects, and a man’s voice, raised in furious Basic. Jyn catches Cassian’s eye in a silent question: do we check this out?
The man’s voice, oddly mechanized and tinny, yells in astonishingly fluent Mando’a, “Maggots to burrow in your intestines! Your enemies to burn down your home and soil your bedsheets!”
Now that is interesting, Mando’a being a dialect rarely heard in any parts of the galaxy these days. As casually as though this was his intention all along, Cassian turns and heads in the direction of the growing fracas. Jyn stays right by his side.
There’s a gaggle of beings, both humanoid and not, surrounding the tall, distinctive helmeted figure of...a Mandalorian, a genuine one, if Jyn is any judge of such things. He has a clan crest on his pauldron, though she can’t tell which clan it is. The Mandalorian has a pulse rifle strapped to his back, and by the looks of things, is about a few seconds away from using it.
Cassian, with his inherent knack of sliding smoothly into a conversation, steps through the crowd. “Excuse me,” he says, the very picture of a helpful stranger, “but can we help?”
Jyn narrows her eyes at him, but Cassian does nothing without a reason. So she keeps her hand near her blaster and her eyes on the crowd around them.
The Mandalorian turns to face them. His body language is that of a man at the end of his tether. “Who are you? What do you want?”
“I’m Jose Ceniza,” Cassian says, and gently gestures for Jyn to step into his side. “And this is my wife, Leilani. You appear to be in need of some assistance?”
“What makes you say that?” the Mandalorian says sharply.  There’s no mistaking that suspicious cock of a head.
Cassian raises his hands, universal sign of helpfulness and mild protest. “Just a guess. But if you don’t need anything--”
A sudden babble of voices erupts around them, the tones indignant. “They say you’ve stolen something from them,” Jyn says, now openly letting her hand fall to her blaster. “Or maybe it’s the other way around? There’s a lot of contradiction.”
“I didn’t steal anything from them; they stole from me!” the Mandalorian sounds absolutely furious. “They have taken my child!”
More furious outcry, as Jyn finally unhooks her truncheon and raps the outstretched protuberances of one being trying to snag the Mandalorian’s belt. “Back off,” she snaps, and then says it again in a few other dialects. The crowd immediately begins to thin out.
A Mandalorian whose child has been stolen? It’s a miracle he hasn’t turned the whole place to ashes yet.
“We can help you,” she says, still holding out her truncheon. “We’re good at finding things.”
Clearly not impressed with this sterling reference, the Mandalorian lets his own hand rest on his blaster. “And why should I trust either of you?”
“Who else have you got?” Jyn retorts. Cassian probably could’ve done that a lot more smoothly, but sometimes, blunt worked best.
The Mandalorian seemed to hesitate for a moment, before allowing reluctantly, “I’ve been trying to find him--my...my son all day. But these dunghill scum won’t tell me anything unless I pay them. Or they insist that they haven’t seen him. I can’t pay you much--”
“We can discuss payment at a later date,” Cassian says, taking hold of the conversation again. “First, where did you last see your child?”
“At my ship,” the Mandalorian says. “I was making some repairs and I took my eyes off him for two seconds--”
“What name does he answer to?” Jyn asks.
“He--he doesn’t have one,” the Mando says, stiffly and somewhat defensively. “He’s a foundling, I was going to let him name himself--”
Jyn’s not exactly read up on Mandalorian naming traditions, but she knows that they consider the rearing and care of foundlings to be one of their most important and sacred traditions. “Do you have any other members of your clan who can help?”
“No,” Mando says. “It’s--it’s just the two of us. We’re a clan.”
This whole thing is getting more mysterious by the moment, and frankly, almost worth the certain delay of getting that information to Leia Organa. “Alright,” Jyn says, “can you take us back to your ship? We can start there, at least.”
The Mandalorian gestures for them to follow him, his tattered cape fluttering out behind him as he walks. Jyn’s not so sure how good his hearing is with that helmet, or his peripheral vision, so she signs to Cassian, what are we doing?
Good deed, Cassian signs back, and shrugs slightly at Jyn’s disbelieving look. Trust me?
Silly question. All the way, she signs.
They’re halfway out of the outpost when a new jumper comes roaring in. The figure riding it looks so small and slender as to be an child, when they dismount and Jyn realizes--it is a child. To be accurate, it’s a young human female, by the looks of it no older than twelve. She’s carrying a wrapped bundle in her arms, and she’s headed straight towards them with an unmistakable air of purpose.
Jyn has never claimed to be Force sensitive. Even with her mother’s final words to her living in the back of her mind. But she can feel the approach of this young girl, like the boom of distant thunder, hidden in her footsteps. The kyber crystal around her throat feels like it’s humming.
The young girl approaches them, her sunburnt and dusty face peering out at them through her head wrappings. “Are you Din Djarin?” she addresses the Mandalorian and Jyn can sense Cassian’s sudden coiling of his stance.
“Who wants to know?” the Mandalorian demands.
“Well,” the girl says, unruffled by his hostility, “that sure sounds like you.” She comes closer, pulling back the fabric of the bundle in her arms. “Did I find him?”
Quite possibly the strangest creature Jyn’s ever seen in her life peers out at them, huge translucent brown eyes and even bigger green ears, larger than the child’s whole head. It radiates an uncanny sense of calm and peace, and it immediately holds it’s arms to the Mandalorian, a sudden smile on its face. The Mandalorian instantly steps forward, sweeping the little figure into his arms.
As pleased as Jyn is for this happy ending, she keeps her eyes on the girl. She’s watching the reunion with a strange, bittersweet smile, leaning on a staff. The kyber crystal is practically vibrating against her skin. “Out of sheer curiosity,” Jyn says to her softly, “how did you know his name?”
The girl looks back, guileless. “Oh,” she says, “his son told me so.”
The galaxy seems to vibrate around this girl, curl around her shoulders like a cloak. Harbinger, Jyn thinks. Lost and then found. “My name is Jyn Erso-Andor,” she says, not bothering to use her and Cassian’s aliases. “And I think maybe we can help you.”
The girl smiles, sudden and sweet. “He told me that too,” she agrees. “I’m Rey.”

ANGST 18. “Leave! Me! Alone!” Malex
It’s been 84 years. Nonnie, I don’t even know if you’re still around or if you remember sending this but here you go! This will need to be edited later but I really wanted to get this up tonight.
p.s. this is what happens when you wake up at 4:00am in Arizona, land at 4:30pm in Detroit, try to go to bed at 10:00pm, and end up never actually going to bed until noon the following day. You be the judge of whether that worked out in my favor I guess.
When they were younger, there was a t-shirt he and Max would always fight over. Michael can’t remember what it even looked like, only the good-natured teasing and playful fighting that would strengthen their bond as brothers every time it was even mentioned. Although, much like the t-shirt, over time that bond would become nothing more than threads, faded and useless.
Back then Max was always giving Michael clothes he’d outgrown or simply didn’t wear because he had so many options at his disposal. He would easily lie to his mom and say they had disappeared somewhere between his closet and the washing machine, and every time Ann would see another vanished item on Michael, she would give him a kind smile and say nothing. Isobel would eventually try to buy him brand new things, but he always refused, secretly craving the physical proof that he and Max were family.
Michael slips into the other man’s clothes now and feels nothing but loss and a disconnect from reality that follows him these days like a fog, always making everything just a bit hazy and unfamiliar. He slips into Max’s shoes like a perverse metaphor and feels inadequate in the way that his feet slide around, not quite filling all of the empty space.
Isobel cries when he walks out of Max’s bedroom. He rushes to comfort her but it’s Max’s scent clinging to the fabric he wears like an ill-fitting disguise and he tries not to dwell on the fact that she holds him tighter than she ever has before.
“Liz is going back to work today. I’m going to head over to the lab and try to heal some dying rats if you want to come.” Her hands shake as she adjusts his collar.
“As fun as that sounds, I think it’s better if I stick around here.” Isobel nods like she already knew that was what he was going to say but she doesn’t look happy about it. “Tell Liz I’m gonna try to recreate some of my notes, get her something she can work with.”
Isobel purses her lips and levels him with the same steely look she’s been wearing for months. She stares shrewdly, deciding whether or not she’s going to say whatever words are running through her head.
“Fine,” she relents, “but you’re coming down tonight and we’re having dinner. It’s not healthy for you to be alone up here for this long.”
Michael scoffs, walking into the kitchen to grab a beer from the fridge. It’s the only thing in this prison that belongs to him; the only thing that makes him feel like himself. “I’m not exactly popular right now in case you haven’t noticed. We’ll get turned away from any place we try to step foot in.”
“We don’t have to go out. Be at my house at six. Liz and I will grab something on the way from the lab and we can eat it there.” She picks up the bag containing the smoke drenched clothes he’s been wearing since last week and is out the door before he can argue, the door sliding shut hands free behind her.
It’s for the best. He would have fought her on it because he’s a stubborn asshole, but they both know that she would have gotten her way in the end. Isobel has spent the months since everything went to hell desperately needing to take control of every situation and for the last week Michael has needed someone to give him his marching orders, tell him where to be, when to eat, how to breathe.
He watches her car as it heads back towards town, the dirt her tires kick up into the air the only reminder that he isn’t alone once she’s out of sight. But after a few minutes that settles too and he’s surrounded by stillness, the house existing in the quiet void Max’s absence has created that he is now clumsily disturbing just by existing in it.
He’s stepping into a dead man’s life and trying to make it his own, but Max’s house, like his shoes, is too big, too empty; nothing like the known comfort of the airstream. His clothes are too neat, his truck is too new, and everything that Michael sees reminds him that he never fit into the life Max had built for himself.
“So when did you learn an alien language?” Alex is standing close behind him, closer than he has in weeks.
Michael looks at him with one brow raised, unimpressed. “It’s physics.”
“Same difference.” Alex grins, white teeth on display and his eyes bright with pride at his own stupid joke. He’s beautiful and Michael has to force himself to look back down at his notebook.
Alex lets him get back to his equations and wanders off to pick up and play with various objects in the underground lab simply because he knows it annoys him. He sets a beaker down a little too rough and Michael glances up sharply.
“What are you doing here Alex?” He turns in his stool until he’s facing him directly. He’s sure that if he just lets him say whatever he came to say that he’ll leave and let him focus on his work. A traitorous voice in the back of his mind asks him if that’s really what he wants.
“You’ve been cooped up down here for two days Guerin. Time to come out and see the sun.” He plants himself in front of Michael, crossing his arms as if trying to intimidate him. It’s cute.
“No can do. Kinda got more important things to be doing right now. The sun will still be there when I’m done.” He starts to turn away again but Alex grabs him by the shoulder, stilling him instantly.
“Look,” something flashes behind Alex’s eyes for a moment before they turn stony. “Just because things didn’t work out between you and Maria, it doesn’t give you an excuse to close yourself off.” He speaks bluntly, devoid of emotion like a good little soldier. Michael knows it’s to protect himself but it still makes him bristle.
“Other way around, private.” He sighs in annoyance as Alex’s face pinches with confusion. “Things didn’t work out between us because I was closing myself off.”
Alex only hesitates for a second. “Why?”
Michael launches off of his stool, needing to move around and release some of his nervous energy if they are actually going to have this conversation. Alex’s hand falls to his side.
“Look man, just because Maria knows now thanks to Rosa’s big mouth - which, for the record, is what put us on borrowed time in the first place - doesn’t mean that she needs to be involved in all of this. None of you do.” He runs a hand through his curls, wondering if he should quit while he’s ahead. “If your family wasn’t already at the center of it all then I’d shut you out too. You and Valenti, and god, Liz too. This is Is and my mess to deal with.”
Alex’s face morphs into a look Michael is very familiar with. It’s the how-can-you-possibly-be-this-stupid face.
“That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard, Guerin.” He holds a hand up to prevent Michael from interrupting. “We’re all in this because we want to be, because we want to help. I get that you guys are used to doing things on your own, but the world is bigger now and you’re just going to have to deal with that.
“I’m not getting in the middle of whatever is going on with you and Maria, but you need to listen to me on this.” He takes a step forward, cornering Michael into pressing his back against the table. His eyes blaze with a fierceness that melts Michael’s resolve. “You are not alone, Guerin. You have people you can rely on.” He pauses, tongue poking out to wet his lips, and it takes everything within Michael not to close the distance between them. “You have people who love you.”
Michael watches as he turns and walks toward the ladder and begins to climb. He purposely leaves the hatch open to let the sunlight shine in.
Michael wakes with his cheek stuck to a piece of paper and an incessant pounding in his head. One beer had quickly become two, and once the fridge was empty he had gone rummaging in search of something stronger, finally finding a half empty bottle of tequila. He’d silently cursed Isobel for confiscating all of the acetone.
There’s a reason he doesn’t drink tequila and it is currently trying to burst through his skull.
He glances at the clock on Max’s wall and eventually comes up with a ten minutes to five. He needs to sober up if he’s going to show up at Isobel’s on time, and oh what he wouldn’t give for some fries and a bucket of coffee from the Crashdown right about now. He knows he can’t go, can’t show his face anywhere in Roswell without a trail of whispers following him.
For years he’s heard rumors based on his behavior and the things he wanted people to see, and he’d reveled in it. The reputation he’s cultivated since high school serves as punishment for the guilt he’s felt since that night. And now, like everything else in his life, it’s coming back to bite him in the ass.
“Damnit Alex.” He presses his fingers hard against his eyes and for a moment it redirects the pain from his head. Strangely, the pounding stays consistent.
Michael looks up, black spots blocking his vision until eventually he can see Maria knocking repeatedly on the door. It’s glass and he’s sitting directly in view, he doesn’t know why she doesn’t just let herself in. It’s not like it’s his house anyway.
He slides the door open with his mind and for a second Maria retreats in surprise before entering the house, closing the door behind her on her own.
“Took you long enough.” She takes in the sight of him slumped over the desk, the now empty bottle of tequila within arms reach. “I thought we learned that you and Jose don’t get along back in 2012.”
Michael stands, wobbling only slightly, and walks towards the kitchen. “What do you want Deluca? I’m busy.” They’d cleared out most of the food in the house just after Max went into the pod but there are still some k-cups that will have to do the job. With the Keurig running, he takes a moment to undo the top two buttons on his shirt, the memory of Max nearly suffocating.
“I ran into Isobel earlier.” Maria follows him, hopping up onto the counter and staring at him like she’s trying to do a reading. “She said you were up here going all Kaczynski so I thought I’d come keep you company.”
Michael flinches, nearly dropping the mug he’s just pulled from one of the cabinets. Without looking at her he spits out with unconcealed contempt, “Kaczynski made bombs.”
Silence is the only response he gets, and when he glances over his shoulder Maria sits with her mouth wide open and tears in her eyes. He sighs but refuses to feel bad or apologize.
“I know I’m not that familiar with relationships, but aren’t you supposed to like hate the sight of me right now?” He turns his focus back to preparing his coffee, his brain telling him that he should probably stop talking until he’s less drunk, but as usual he ignores it.
Maria places a hand lightly on his back and he immediately steps to the side and out of her reach. “Michael, just because we’re not together doesn’t mean I don’t care about you. I’m worried about you. Alex wouldn’t want–”
“Don’t,” he whispers harshly, spinning to face her. The mug of freshly poured coffee shatters behind him. “Don’t you dare use him against me.”
Never one to be intimidated or back down from a fight, Maria just glares at him. “You’re not the only one that lost him, Guerin. He’s my best friend. And you know just as well as I do that he wouldn’t want you blaming yourself.”
“Hell, why not? Everyone else is!” Maria looks like she’s been slapped but Michael needs to get this out in the open. “You’re a bartender, I’m sure you’re hearing all the great things people are saying about me, huh? What is it now? Local war hero dies in town drunk’s meth lab on wheels? Man, I’m surprised Valenti hasn’t sent her new deputies out to arrest me.” Michael’s chest moves rapidly as it tries to cage his pain.
Tears run down Maria’s face, one after another after another and not for the first time, Michael envies her ability to remain calm even while falling apart. “What does it matter what they think Michael? You know the truth and you can’t blame yourself for–”
“I don’t know shit, Maria. No one knows what really happened and knowing the truth isn’t going to bring him back.” Ugly, heart wrenching sobs break through, each painful burst chipping away at the dam he’s painstakingly built around himself over the last few days. One after another after another. He turns and hangs his head low between his shoulders, fists clenching around the edge of the counter, desperately trying to regain control. “Just leave me alone, ok,” he pleads, tears threatening to fall. If he starts again he doesn’t think he’ll ever stop.
Maria’s hand hovers near his arm and he wrenches it away before she can touch him. “No! Leave!” In the other room a loud thud echos throughout the empty tomb that is his brother’s house. Maria jumps and a sick part of him feels satisfied. He stalks toward her, each step causing her to take one back towards the door. “Me!” Various objects float and drift closer, encroaching on them. Maria looks around with obvious concern. Her eyes meet his and he realizes that she’s more worried about him and not her own safety. “Alone!” The door snaps open with enough force that the glass shakes in its frame but doesn’t even crack. Stupid Max and his fancy ass windows.
Maria takes her cue to step outside, tears continuing to fall from wide, sorrowful eyes. Michel clenches his jaw and stands his ground. He has nothing more to say, simply waits in a quiet storm of emotion until she retreats back to her truck.
A dark cloud of smoke hangs over Sanders’ Auto as Michael pulls up in his truck, using his powers to put it in park as he’s already halfway out the door before it even fully stops. The flames are smaller than he would expect, but the smoke clings to everything like a thick blanket not meant to comfort but to smother them all.
“Mr. Guerin, you can’t go in there!” Sheriff Valenti blocks him and he lets her, watching in horror as his home continues to burn, the metal structure still in tact but the contents probably little more than ash. Photos of him, Max, and Isobel, his hat, books and years of work that he’d taken out of the lab when Isobel or Alex would stop by and force him to sleep.
His eyes fall to the earth below the trailer where the hatch lays open underneath the trailer, more signs of destruction billowing out ominously. His breathing picks up as terror runs down his spine at what they’ll find during their investigation.
“Mr. Guerin, I’m going to need to ask you some questions.” The sheriff continues speaking but he only hears snippets as his pulse beats louder and faster in his ears. “…to be an explosive…” A fireman steps from the trailer gripping something in his hands. “…any enemies?” He walks toward them, a grim look on his soot covered face. “…may be in shock….” Behind him, two others exit the trailer, something carried between them. “…sit down and…”
The world stops as the long black bag is revealed. Michael no longer hears his heart beating, no longer feels his lungs burn with labored breath. Nothing moves except the smoke as it continues to press close and suffocate. His vision is blurring at the edges but he sees the first fireman closing in. A gloved hand slowly unfolds, something metal resting in its palm. Sheriff Valenti uses a pen to hook around a chain, slowly raising it until the dog tags catch the light, and then everything around Michael goes dark.
“Michael!” Isobel’s voice carries through the closed bedroom door sounding frantic. “Michael, where are you?”
He knew she’d be pissed when he blew off dinner but he’d thought the most he would get was an angry phone call. The door flies open and bounces off the wall as the room is flooded with light. Michael raises an arm to shield himself from it and blinks until he can clearly make out Liz and Isobel both standing there with wide smiles.
Liz rushes forward to sit at the edge of the bed and grabs Michael’s hand. Her smile is pure relief but a lingering worry lurks in her eyes. “It’s not Alex.”
“What?” He tries to pull his hand back but red nails dig into his skin and in an odd way it grounds him, the pain confirming that this moment is real.
Isobel steps forward but stops at the foot of the bed. “After the dental records came back a match, Kyle apparently snuck down to the morgue to do some snooping. Taking this private detective thing a little far if you ask me.”
“He found enough tissue to get it tested and he just got the results back. It’s not Alex.”
She looks so excited, tears smudging her makeup and making her eyes shine. Michael doesn’t share her joy, staring back at her with newfound dread.
“Then where is he?”

That Gautier Family Meta That No One Asked For
I’ve been thinking about the Gautier Family on and off for the last few weeks. Dribs and drabs of little details that slowly but surely have been coming together into something cohesive. Today I wanted to spend some time collecting all of those headcanons together to give myself a nice little piece to refer back to, and maybe some fun reading for others. As always, I welcome any and all questions!
Margave Gullan Adán Gautier
Naming Inspirations
“Gullan”
as a boys' name is of Old Norse derivation, and the meaning of the name Gullan is "battler, warrior". Gullan is an alternate form of Gunnar (Old Norse): from Old Norse gunnr "strife". Going with Rai’s Headcanon that the Fraldarius territory is loosely based upon Norway (albeit only geographically,) I looked to Scandinavian names for Sylvain’s father, as well as keeping similar “ahn” sounds at the end of the name. (It’s worth noting that “Sylvain’s” name in localisation fits better due to the inspirations for his name. However, in other languages his name is actually pronounced more like Sil-vahn. Just a fun tidbit)
 Another reason for my name choice comes from; “The surname Gullan was first found in East Lothian, where they held a family seat on the English/Scottish border. After the Norman Conquest of England many of Duke William's rebellious Barons moved north. The border became a convenient but turbulent no-man's land where the persecuted Many were given land by King Malcolm Canmore and later by King David of Scotland. Some were native Scots. In the 16th century they became known as the 'unruly clans'. The name was first recorded in Scotland in Gullen in the parish of Dirleton in East Lothian.”
“Adán”
Quite simply, the Spanish form of Adam. As I mentioned briefly in another post of Sylvain’s middle name being that of a biblical figure and translated into its Spanish form, Gullan’s follows that trend.
 Personality
On the surface, Gullan is a seemingly cold man who never says more than is necessary. Each and every one of his words has purpose and motive, and he is not the type to lay praise on thick unless it’s either warranted, or strategic.
His purpose is to defend the border, a task he takes so seriously that his devotion to it can often come across as boastful. There are likely those who believe he ‘showcases’ the worth of his house, ever eager to ‘prove House Gautier’s usefulness.’ And indeed, Gullan is happy to allow that attitude to continue rather than spend time attempting to change minds that can instead be spent ensuring his troops are ever ready for another assault from Sreng.
Much like his youngest son, Gullan has a tendency to put up a front, to be as unshakable as the border defences. While this serves his purpose well at official business, war councils and formal functions, it does hurt his ability to be a father. This trait runs so deeply that he always put his duty before his family, which extends to ensuring his son can take up the mantle after him, and thus his reliance on his family Crest. (See “Crest of Gautier, Lance of Ruin and other details” further below.)
 Margravine Eloise Ambre Gautier
Naming Inspirations
I didn’t think too deeply about choosing this name. I just like it. Sue me.
Personality/details of note
Eloise is a person of striking contrast to her husband. She is softly spoken, warm and kind-hearted. That said, in regard to her family and the expectations placed upon them, she often finds her hands tied in what she can actually do for her children. She would have loved nothing more than to coddle them but knew that would only harm them in the long run.
Eloise’s health has never been the greatest, little energy and of low appetite. Pregnancy and childbirth were great ordeals for her, which is why they stopped having children after Sylvain. A family that places such importance on passing on their Crest wouldn’t reasonably – I believe – stop at only one.
 Miklan Anschutz Gautier
Naming Inspirations
“Miklan”
Sadly, after much googling, I can’t find anything. This appears to just be a case of “let’s make a name similar to yet distinct from his brother” style of name choice.
“Anschutz”
Not to copy paste some previous things I talked about but “North German (Anschütz): occupational name for someone whose job was to keep a dam or pool filled with water (German anschützen ‘to fill up’), especially a dam above a water channel serving a mill or mine.” TL;DR: He’s a placeholder.
Personality/details of note
Long story short, Miklan was a monster before he got his hands upon the Lance of Ruin.
Short story lengthened; Miklan is a jealous, entitled person without much in the way of a moral compass. There is only one reason he hates his brother, the fact that Sylvain has a Crest and he does not. Children of noble families are tested upon birth to see if they bare one, at least, that’s what Sylvain tells us. It’s possible that only his family does this, and he believes all families are like that, or that some or many families do that, but not all. Still, it’s reasonable to believe that at least House Gautier tests their children for Crest Inheritance at birth.
What kind of person hates a baby? Enough to want them dead and even attempt to kill them himself? Someone who lacks a moral compass.
On that same train of thought, Miklan was disinherited (not disowned) only three years prior to the events of the game. This means that, while he would never be the head of House, he was still in line to inherit something. Perhaps not lands and prestige, but he would have been able to live comfortably. He would have this regardless of being Crestless, and yet, the fact that he wouldn’t have everything is enough to drive him to multiple attempts to murder his brother. It’s difficult to think that this man has any redeeming qualities, considering that fact.
 Sylvain Jose Gautier
Information regarding the origins of Sylvain’s name and its meanings are all over both the wiki and this blog, as is the case with aspects of his personality, so I’m not going to get too into detail about those. Instead, I’m just going to list some fun tibits about his early life.
As a very young child, Sylvain was actually very shy, he was often found hiding behind his mother’s skirts. He didn’t like the way people would look at him, though at the time he didn’t understand it was because of his Crest. It was largely Glenn’s encouragement that got him out of his shell.
 For a long time, he didn’t really know how food worked. That is, he thought all you had to do was place the ingredients in a bowl, put it in the oven, and five minutes later, out comes food. The kitchen staff once caught him trying to place a glass bowl full of flour, too much sugar, an entire stick of butter and three whole eggs (yes, whole, 100% intact) into the oven. He wanted to make a cake for his mother’s birthday.
As seen in Etude and Learning the Melody, Sylvain took piano lessons as a child and had no small amount of talent for it. He gave it up though, believing his family’s encouragement came only from a place of wanting him to have whatever he wants on account of his Crest and not from a place of love.
 Crest of Gautier and the Lance of Ruin
The Crest
Crests are often seen as a status symbol in Fódlan, and it would be reasonable to think that House Gautier is of the same opinion. This is an attitude that Gullan perpetrates in order to secure a successful marriage for his son to pass on his Crest. In truth, however, the importance of the Crest of Gautier is solely to ensure that the Lance of Ruin can continue to be wielded.
Lance of Ruin
Heroes Relics are weapons of incredible power, and the Lance has been used to defend the border with Sreng. The reliance on the weapon to do the task stems from how the Lance has likely become a symbol of ruin to the Srengi people. In fact, the question has been asked; “Why is it that all the Relics have actual names like Areadbhar and Failnaught, and yet only two are Sword of the Creator and Lance of Ruin?” While I cannot speak for the Sword, I believe that the Lance once had a name that was slowly lost to time, gaining its new moniker some years after the formation of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus when it was brought to bear against Sreng.

Note
Hi! Can I get a FE3H matchup, please? I am 20, a woman and very bi. I am currently an international affairs student interested in diplomacy and human rights protections, who also happens to be trilingual. I love reading fiction, historical accounts and mythology. My hobbies include writing, crocheting, cooking and playing videogames. I am an introvert but I am also extremely friendly, if a bit oblivious at times. I like helping others and make people smile. I am also very physically affectionate
Tumblr media
Hello! Happy Holidays, hope you enjoyed them well! Thank you for patiently waiting for your matchup and sorry for taking so long! I’ve been playing Pokemon Shield and it literally took over my life lmao. I had a lot of trouble pairing you with someone tbh, as I had two characters in mind, but after much thought, your match is…
Tumblr media
Sylvain Jose Gautier!!!
You two are very similar but very different all the same. As we know, Sylvain greatly dislikes crests and how they’ve come to negatively affect people, as people born without them are greatly disadvantaged in comparison to those who do have one. Most people only seek to reap the benefits from it, as demonstrated by those looking to marry into families with crests. For this reason, Sylvain would certainly appreciate a partner who has an interest in human rights, someone who recognizes these types of injustices and looks to do something about them. He is also, much like your INTJ personality, quite analytical and inquisitive. Intellectually, I’d say you two are quite compatible, as you are both quite contemplative and critical, shown by his problems with crests as well as his thoughts on the tragedy of Duscur. Sylvain is very gregarious and outgoing, and acts as a sort of big brother figure to his friends, therefore he’d be of great help at times when it comes to your introversion. At first, he might be a bit suspicious of your overly friendly nature, as most women who are like that with him have a hidden agenda (much like his own friendliness and flirtiness with women can be a result of his ulterior motives), but he quickly realizes it’s just how you are. This along with the fact that you like helping others and making others smile leads him to greatly value you for your genuine kindness that many others don’t have. Speaking of which, I think your unadulterated drive to help others and make them happy would ultimately coerce Sylvain to really open up to you and be honest. For how outgoing Sylvain might seem to be, he is a very closeted and distrustful person who only shows his true feelings around those he trusts. So despite you being oblivious at times (which I actually think would only highlight the sincerity in your other actions), Sylvain would come to trust as he knows you have no ill intentions and only want to see others happy. In your own ways, you are both very private people, who although enjoy being social, are really only themselves with certain people. In reference to your obliviousness, Sylvain could definitely help you with that as he is very socially aware. Another thing worth mentioning is that Sylvain is very lax and easy-going, which I think would greatly balance your ambitiousness. He like you is also good at pretending things that he is not, so I’m sure he’d be able to perceive when you are actually stressed or not. While Sylvain could teach you how to relax once in a while and not be too harsh on yourself, you could help Sylvain commit himself to his work, training, and possibly relationships as well.
Headcannons:
When you two first met, people thought you two would never get along. You seemed so driven and focused while Sylvain…well wasn’t. Boy did you surprise just about everyone though, probably yourselves as well.
You bet that when he learned you were trilingual he totally used that to his advantage, saying stuff like “How do you say ‘you’re gorgeous’ in x language?”. If you happen to answer he’s just going to repeat it to you
You spend a lot of your time together reading with each other, trading books and discussing them.
When he’s with you he often engages in conversations related to history, politics, literature, etc. His friends swear they’ve never heard him seem so intelligent before.
He totally wants to read what you write, of course, offering to be sort of an “editor” for you. He always seems to read what you write with a small smile on his face.
He’s always asking for you to join you in your hobbies like crocheting and cooking. Sometimes you can tell he really wants to learn but sometimes he just uses it as an excuse to get closer to you. “You think you could help me roll out the dough” he says as he gets behind you and grabs your hands, “Hey how am I gonna learn without some hands-on experience?” (literally).
He frequently tries to convince you to go out sometimes with him and a group of people, but you know that when he really really wants to spend time with you he wants it to be just the two of you (I just realized that sounds kinda dirty but I don’t mean it that way lol….maybe?).
He acts cheerful all the time, but it’s one time that he’s talking with you that you realize what his real smile actually looks like. Afterwards you make it your mission to only see that smile from now on.
You two are quite into PDA, Sylvain is always with his arm across you in public or grabbing you by the waist.
When he is really feeling affectionate though, he gives you very soft and lingering touches that although not as strong as his other ones, definitely convey much more.
He is always looking out for you, making sure you are taking care of yourself and not focusing too much on work, checking you’re not stressed, and if so asking how he can help you (”Maybe a massage”), jk, but he really does try to be as helpful as he can.
He’s very blunt with you too, if he notices you are pushing yourself too hard or in general just has something to tell you he’ll just straight up tell you without sugar-coating it, which you appreciate as you can be oblivious at times.
Though it may seem harsh of him, it’s those times you realize he really cares, as he normally hides behind jokes and false smiles.
Other matches: Dedue Molinaro, Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd
Hope you enjoyed the matchup! If you feel like you weren’t portrayed correctly/I misinterpreted your information let me know and I’ll make the corrections!

Partners in Times Ch.6
Meanwhile, high above Hollijolli Village…
The Koopa Cruiser are…well, cruising the skies. Inside, at the lower level, Young Panchito and Young Jose were playing a game of tag while they ran around in circles, while Young Boy Princess Donald and Young Princess Della are watching the boys play.
However, unknown to them, three UFOs snuck behind the cruiser, and one of them shot a blast, hitting the back of the cruiser. This startled the youngsters from the inside.
This also caused the cruiser to activate its alarm, making the children cry in fright.
"WAAAAAAAAAAHH!" they wailed out loud.
Then, a megaphone came down and it says:
"EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY!"
"BOY PRIIIIIIIIINCESS!" Young Scrooge crawled his way from the exit towards Young Royalties. "Oh! Oh, Princess Della! Trying to calm the boy princess down?"
"Yeah, but I think he won't stop crying because of the alarm!" Young Princess Della warned.
"Boy Princess!" Young Scrooge got in front of Young Boy Princess to call his attention. "Never fear, my dear. Scrooge is here!"
Young Boy Princess Donald stopped wailing, but he was still sobbing a bit. Young Toadsworth began to say as he spoke: "Come! Let's get you two to safety!"
"How about the bridge?" Young Princess Della suggested.
"Sounds fine to me. Let's go."
Young Princess Della followed Young Scrooge out of the area. Young Panchito and Young Jose were still trying their best to calm down themselves. Soon, the same megaphone came down, this time; Young Zeus's voice came through:
"This is the great Prince Zeus! Kneel, minions! OK, now get up! All personnel to the bridge!"
After that, Young Panchito finally managed to calm himself down and he stopped crying. However, the same can't be said for Young Jose.
"Shh… Shh… It was just a startle, Jose. Please don't cry." Young Panchito spoke quietly while caressing Young Jose's head.
"I think it's best if we go to the next room where this annoying alarm doesn't reach us." Young Panchito stated.
"Sounds like a clever idea." Young Jose replied and Young Panchito and Young Jose exited the area.
Once outside, since the alarm wasn't reaching them, Young Panchito rubs Young Jose's back gently while speaking quietly:
"There, there, Jose. The alarm is gone now. You don't have to cry anymore." He wipes off Young Jose's tears.
Young Jose does a few hiccups before finally calming down and stops crying, but still sobbing a little.
"Waaah… *sniff* alarm too loud!" he sniffled.
"It's okay; we're finally out." Young Panchito smiled, making Young Jose smile a little bit.
With that, the two young heroes made their way together out of the lower level of the cruiser and arrived at the bridge, where they found Young Princess Della with Young Scrooge holding Young Boy Princess hand. Up ahead, there was Young Zeus and his minions piloting the cruiser, which was still being attacked by UFOs from behind.
"Time to show these alien jerks what the Koopa Cruiser can do!" Young Zeus grinned before giving his order: "Fire the Koopa Cannon!"
"FIRE!" all of the Koopas shouted.
Eventually, the cannon placed at the deck of the cruiser loaded before firing a spiked ball at the UFOs, knocking all of them down.
"Bwah ha ha ha HAAA!" Young Zeus laughed evilly. "I am just so dang EVIL! I hope they felt honored to be shot down by me!"
Then, two of the minions began to appraise Young Zeus:
"You're the best, Prince Zeus!"
"You're a Koopa's Koopa!"
"Bwah ha ha ha!" Young Zeus laughed in amusement.
Suddenly, the cruiser made a sudden downwards dive, startling Young Zeus:
"YOW!"
With this event, the cruiser was now flying a few inches above Hollijolli Village.
"Hey! You call that piloting?! Pay attention, sky-nerd!" Young Zeus stomps the ground angered.
Then, one of the minions saw something below them and reported:
"Prince Zeus! There! 4 o'clock!" he pointed to the area where the trio of alien, who were still celebrating, KO'd the adult heroes. "Those villagers are under Shroob attack!"
"Your… Your orders? Should we help them?" another minion asked.
"Aw, man… It's half past snack time already!" Young Zeus complained, ignoring the orders. "We… We saw nothing! Everybody clear on that?"
However, this news did not make Young Boy Princess too happy and he knows what to do to convince him to help the adult heroes: he starts to cry loudly, startling everyone.
"Great hoogly-boogly! The Young Boy princess does NOT approve of this!" Young Toadsworth warned. "Young Master Zeus! Abandoning those folk is reprehensible!"
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" Young Boy Princess wailed so loud, it caused everyone to cover their ears.
"MY EARS! He'll ruin us all!" Young Zeus yelled. "Fine! I'll help them if it'll just SHUT HIM UP! Koopa Cannon! FIRE!"
"FIRE!" all of the minions shouted.
The cannon then shoots another spiked ball, sending the three Aliens Shroobs away. Soon after that, Young Boy Princess calmed down. Noticing that, Young Boy Zeus went to him and spoke sternly:
"There! Happy?"
"Why yes, thank you!" Young Boy Princess giggle while clapping his hands.
"Hm." Young Zeus then turned to the toddler Super Caballeros. "You two take care of things from here. Go get 'em, Red and Green!"
"Leave it to us!" Young Jose nodded.
“Wow Donald, why you cry really loud!” Young Princess Della ask.
“Oh I wasn’t actually crying sis,” Donald reply with a cheesy smile. “I was faking it so Prince Zeus can help these poor people and do as I say. I learn that from Duckworth.”
The Koopa Cruiser landed on the far west side of Hollijolli Village, and the young heroes exited from the bridge.
"Well, now that we took care of those aliens, we better go check on those unfortunate villagers." Young Panchito said.
"You're right. Then maybe it will make Boy Princess Donald most pleased, and perhaps avoid future tantrums." Young Panchito added.
"I hope nothing grave happened to those poor villagers…" Young Jose spoke in a worried voice.
"Let's hope we can find them before more of those aliens attack them again." Young Panchito stated.
The young heroes wandered around the village, gazing at the destruction caused by the Alien Shroobs.
It didn't take quite long, since the cruiser landed on the spot that was closer to their respective destination. They went to the downed 'villagers' and tried to wake them up, not noticing that they looked oddly similar to our young heroes.
But then, two of the Shroobs that were sent away came back and one of them spoke in their native alien language:
"%(&…"
The young heroes heard that and turned around to find themselves face to face with the Shroobs.
"%$!"
"They're still here?!" Young Panchito flinched. "Well then, I guess we have no choice but to take them down. After all, we'll also avenge them for those villagers!"
Young Panchito and Young Jose charged their stomps towards each Alien Shroob.
However, Young Panchito and Young Jose didn't expect the Shroobs shoot at them with their laser guns, and they were hit by their blasts.
"ACK!" they groaned from the impact.
"I think direct attacks are too weak against the Aliens Shroobs, so we have to attack them from a distance!" Young Panchito warned.
"How?" Young Jose asked.
"Good thing Scrooge packed in a few items for us!" Young Panchito pulled out a Green Shell from his pocket.
"Isn't that a Green Koopa Shell?"
"Yep! Remember how we used to play soccer together? Let's use that same way to attack these Shroobs! Like this!"
Young Panchito placed the shell next to his feet and kicks it towards one of the Aliens Shroobs. Once the shell hit the Alien Shroob, it bounced back and was heading towards Young Jose.
"Now, Jose! It's your turn to kick!" Young Panchito called out.
"Oh! I get it!" Young Jose grinned and kicks the shell next.
The toddler caballeros continued their kicking until both Alien Shroobs were defeated.
"That was fun! It's been awhile since we don't play soccer." Young Jose said.
"We did it!" Young Panchito exclaimed. "All right, now that those Shroobs are out of the way, let's check on the villagers."
Young Panchito made his way towards them first. But once he took a look at them, he noticed something odd.
"Jose, look at this!" he called out. "Now that I see these villagers close up, they bear a striking resemblance to us! I mean, look, this red guy looks almost like me!" he directs to the adult red rooster.
"You're right, Panchito! This green guy looks like an adult version of me or something!" Young Jose confirmed as he glances at the adult green bird. "Not to mention that those guys are dressed just like us…"
"This is odd…" Young Jose pondered.
"Well, whoever they are, I believe it's best to take them to Zeus's ship. Who knows when more of those awful aliens return?" Young Panchito told them while shrugging.
"You have a point there. Let's head back." Young Jose said.

Amuto Fic (Working Title)
A/N: This is the first chapter in what I hope is going to be a multi-chapter fic. Also, if anyone has any ideas for a title, please send them over. Dedicated to my precious babies: Amu and Ikuto! Also, trigger warning for an abusive relationship (her ex was a massive dick).
Also, shoutout to @oodlittlething and @noviceotakus-blog for proofreading and offering tech support!!
~~~~~
The ringing phone shocked 16-year-old Amu Hinamori back into the present moment as her close friend Berkeley Walker laughed at her startled expression.
“Spacing out again, were we?” the latter asked with a kind chuckle. Berkeley was one of Amu’s best friends, by her side ever since she started at her new high school in Cupertino, California, two years ago, after moving there with her parents and younger sister from Japan. Berkeley, herself a transfer from Albuquerque, New Mexico, (which, she assured Amu, was as different from San Jose as the latter from Japan, despite being in the same country) was a loud and confident girl, tough when the need arose, but surprisingly calm and level-headed. She was on the volleyball and martial arts teams at their school, and had met Amu in their homeroom class freshman year; the two transfers had learned to navigate their new school together. Amu was so happy to have found someone as strong as Berkeley to count on during her first year in America!
Today they were on the bus to meet their friend Suzie Chen. They had befriended Suzie last year, before she switched to the private girls’ school she currently attended following her father’s company’s relocation across town. Though she was doing well at her new school, she said she missed her friends terribly and couldn’t wait to see them today. The studio where she studied violin after school was giving free promotional lessons today, and despite Berkeley’s claim that she “100 percent lacked that kind of coordination,” Suzie had successfully convinced the girls to attend. Amu was also uncertain whether she possessed any sort of musical talent, but was dying to see Suzie, and figured the violin would be fun to try out, at least once. Suzie’s violin had such a lovely sound, peaceful and warm like a springtime afternoon spent frolicking in meadow blossoms. But just now, Amu had been thinking of another violin, slower, more melancholy notes, and a kind man with a terribly sad smile….
“I hope it was a nice daydream, Amu-chan,” chimed their acquaintance Yuki Yotoba sweetly as she walked to the front of the parked bus, waving good-bye to the two girls. Yuki-chan is so kind-hearted, even after I spaced out the entire time she was on the bus with us…I’ll have to make it up to her later! Thought Amu to herself. Yuki, aiming to attend nursing school, volunteered almost every day after school at the hospital, so they didn’t see each other much, but happened to be taking her bus today. A quiet, sweet-mannered girl like her would be a perfect nurse! She would definitely need to properly apologize next time! Maybe if she kept taking violin lessons, she could see Yuki-chan more, and become better friends with her!
Amu grinned sheepishly, looking down more than necessary to fish the still-ringing phone from her bag in an attempt to hide her flushed cheeks. How silly! How long had it been since she had seen, or even thought of, that person anyway? She retrieved the phone, answered the video call, and was greeted with Utau Hoshina’s beaming face. Amu was ecstatic; Utau was one of Amu’s closest friends from Japan, though they could rarely talk with Utau’s busy schedule. She worked so hard, having become a Japanese pop sensation while still in middle school, and was now, at age 19, singing internationally and also acting, having landed a major role in a hit TV series being filmed in Los Angeles, all while pursuing her degree in communications! “Moshi-moooooooooooooosh,” Utau sang into the phone in a playful voice. “Oh, hi Berkeley! This is perfect!” she exclaimed, switching to English for their American friend. “Did you two get your tickets for this Saturday?”
“Yes we did, thank you so much!” The girls were practically jumping out of their seats now. This Saturday, Utau was performing in nearby San Francisco, and they would see each other in person for the first time since her concert there last year.
“Good, I’d better see my two biggest fans there!” she said with a wink. “After all, I’ve been working super hard for you!” After a brief pause, she added, “Oh, I think you’ll like the opening band too, it’s a local one performing especially for the San Francisco concert.” Berkeley squealed with excitement.
“A band from here? What kind of band?”
“Indie rock. I met them last time I was in SF. A bunch of sweaty, grungy-haired guys,” she said with a grimace, “but their sound is nice. Soft guitar rifts with a piano. Just got a violinist too, pretty classy stuff. Now if only they would wash their hair more often! They better not embarrass me!” Amu’s stomach tightened slightly at the mention of the violin, remembering a certain Indie band Utau had briefly been involved with while they were still in Japan. An Easter project. Angsty pop music with a sad violin….
“-so not fair! Just because he’s a jock doesn’t mean he doesn’t wash his hair! Besides, you’ve never actually met him!” They were talking about Utau’s boyfriend and Amu’s former classmate, Kukai Soma. He was in his final year of high school in Japan, diligently studying every moment he wasn’t participating in extra basketball practice. A star player and stellar student, his dream was to secure a basketball scholarship to UCLA so he could get a US visa and move close to Utau. She acted like it didn’t matter if he came to America or not, but she always asked him how his UCLA application was going, adding a “not that I care particularly.” Kukai was shining with confidence, so sure that he would secure that scholarship no matter what! It must be harder on them than they let on, thought Amu, to live so far apart, as they have for most of their relationship, since Utua had started touring internationally shortly after they started dating over three years ago. But they were so strong and supportive of each other’s dreams. Oh please, please let Kukai-kun get that scholarship!
“Amu, please tell Berkeley that Kukai isn’t grungy!”
Amu chuckled. Utau may pout, but Amu knew she enjoyed the teasing, especially when it gave her an excuse to talk about her boyfriend; Utau had confided that it helped make him seem less far away, not that it bothered her, of course. Amu rolled her eyes and smiled. The girls stopped laughing just in time to hear their stop announced and began to gather their bags. “You two have a violin lesson today, right?”
“Yeah, Suzie’s studio is giving free lessons today, so we decided to try it!” Utau’s softened, then narrowed mischievously as she broke into a teasing smile.
“Amu, will you become a great violinist like Ikuto?” Again, Amu caught herself blushing. This time, Berkeley caught her as well.
“Ooh Amu, you’re blushing! Who is Ikuto, a cute boy?”
“As if! Ikuto is Utau’s man-child pervert of a brother! And he’s lucky he was able to record music, because he certainly can’t keep a real job!” she said a little too loudly, all the while cursing her cheeks for blushing so brightly and begging them not to turn redder. Berkeley laughed as the bus pulled up to their stop, while Utau just narrowed her eyes, smiling even wider with a “hmmmmmmmmmm.” Amu wanted to melt away. But why? Ikuto Tsukiyomi really was just her friend’s man-child pervert of a brother. Why did everyone think he should be anything else. Even Tadase….
Suddenly Utau’s face was a great bright smile again. “Well, ladies, my break is over! I’ll see you both Saturday!” The girls said good-bye as they exited the bus, Suzie waiting for them in her school’s uniform and carrying her violin case. Berkeley called out to her in her loud, emphatic voice (a credit to her Midwestern roots, she had explained):
“Oi, Suzie, look at our prim, proper paragon of wifey material! You ready to school us in ‘etiquette befitting a lady,’ or whatever it’s called?” But before they were fully in earshot of their friend, Berkeley clapped Amu on the back and whispered, “You’ll tell me all about Ikuto later, right?” She ran ahead with a carefree smile and wink.
It was true that Amu had never told Berkeley about Ikuto, even though she was her closest friend in America, knew about all her friends from Japan, and had met most of them, at least electronically. Kukai-kun she had met last year through a video chat with Utau while she was home for a visit. She had joined Amu in Skype calls with Nagihiko Fujisaki and his boyfriend Richie Preston, who both studied dance in England. She followed Nagi-kun’s dance videos on Instagram, and had even seen videos from his days as Nadeshiko. Berkeley frequently chatted with Rima Mashiro, Amu’s closest female friend in Japan. Rima-chan and Nagi-kun had dated for a while, but broke up after he moved to England for high school. Not everyone could handle a long distance relationship as well as Utau-chan and Kukai-kun, after all! Rima-chan and Berkeley turned out to share a love of comedy, so despite the latter’s “uncouth American manner,” Rima “approved” of her. Geez, that girl could be such a tsundere at times! Why can’t she just admit that she loves talking to Berkeley?
As did Yaya Yuiki, who, practicing for her dream of becoming a preschool teacher, took it upon herself to give Berkeley regular Japanese lessons via Skype. Amu had tried to tell her teaching preschoolers and teaching a high school student Japanese weren’t exactly the same thing, to which she responded “But if she knows that little, it’s almost the same thing right?” Honestly, Yaya-chan could be the uncouth one at times! It wasn’t Berkeley’s fault she didn’t know much Japanese! Apparently most American schools don’t teach any foreign language until high school, and even then only the Spanish of neighboring Mexico! Really! How did any of their students go to school abroad? Amu couldn’t imagine starting high school in America without having taken English since elementary school!
Berkeley had never met Kairi Sanjo, but knew him as the polite boy from Amu’s emails. He was too old-fashioned for the social media that kept Amu in constant communication with the rest of her friends, probably because it’s too “worldly” for his devout samurai lifestyle. In his final year of middle school and top in his class, he was applying to schools in Europe and America. He has even applied to a school in San Francisco, so maybe Amu would see him again soon!
She had shown Berkeley pictures of him at his sister Yukari’s wedding to Yuu Nikaido. Berkeley had met Yukari Sanjo-san, Utau’s manager, at last year’s concert, and knew Nikaido-sensei had been Amu’s teacher in elementary school. Amu had let it slip that those two used to be bad, but she let Berkeley think she was only talking about Sanjo-san’s addiction to take-out and Nikaido-sensei’s dangerous level of clumsiness. After all, Easter, the Embryo, and the Guardians were probably things she could never talk about with anyone, no matter how close the person or how fond the memories. Besides, that was all so long ago; they were good people now, a sweet couple with an adorable child, a 3-year-old girl named Su Nikaido. The name always made Amu swell with pride.
Berkeley knew of Amu’s mentees, Rikka Hiiragi and Hikaru Ichinomiya, now in middle school, and both knew of her, though she hadn’t talked directly to either. Rikka was too embarrassed by her poor English, but studied and looked forward to properly introducing herself in English someday, and Hikaru was busy with his intense studies and taking on more and more control of Easter, aiming to be able to run the company on his own by the time he came of age. Though he still found time for surprise visits to cheer Rikka-chan on at her track meets, always saying he “just happened to be free, no big deal,” when she jumped for joy to see him. Poor boy, thought Amu, Rikka doesn’t read the mood very well, and will take him at his word until he tells her how he feels honestly! When she told Berkeley about it, she responded that from what Amu said about him, he seemed like the type who wasn’t entirely aware of how he felt to begin with, which made a lot of sense to Amu.
Berkeley had a true gift for understanding people in that way. She pretended not to notice the inner conflicts people either didn’t understand or tried to hide, but she could tell, and when she did, she would give an elongated, kind of knowing glance, as if to say: “when you’re ready to talk, I am here.” And that look made people want to talk to her about it, not least of all Amu herself. Berkeley should really study to be a therapist, because she would make a great one!
In Amu’s case, a much-welcomed therapist. In the last year, Amu’s guardian characters had all been reabsorbed into her, first Ran, then Miki, then Su, and finally Dia. She knew it would happen eventually. As children grow up and become their would-be selves, they no longer need these selves to exist outside of them. When it happened depended on the person and how well they matured into their would-be selves, but losing a guardian character was a natural fact of growing up. The girls assured Amu that they would always be there inside her, but she still missed having them to talk to. How wonderful, though, that she had grown up into a girl who could talk honestly with her friends just the way she had with her guardian characters, like a normal person! And how especially wonderful to have such a good friend to talk to, all the way here in America, who she could talk openly to with no fear of judgement! Come to think of it, she thought, except for those secrets she couldn’t tell anyone, she had told Berkeley almost everything about her past.
So why, after knowing the rest of Amu’s history, did Berkeley never even get a mention of Ikuto? Well, first off, Amu wasn’t sure where to start with Ikuto; he was such a confusing man. She had met him in elementary school, and, like Nikaido-sensei, Sanjo-san, and even Utau-chan, he was once an Easter employee who corrupted and shattered children’s hearts’ eggs. But he didn’t have a choice; that was never something he wanted. Although what did he want, anyway? He sometimes seemed happiest when left alone to play violin in the park and then curl up to sleep on a bench. Though if he was truly happy, then why did the music he played in those moments seem so incredibly sad?
Other times, he seemed to enjoy teasing children, particularly Amu and her friends. He especially loved picking on Amu, telling her he loved her, kissing her cheeks, and all kinds of creepy things, then laughing at her confusion before disappearing, reassuring her that he would never do anything like “that.” (Whatever “that” was!) And then he would turn up months later, napping on her balcony, or even in her bed! Geez, he was just like a stray cat! Maybe I should have left tuna out for him, thought Amu with a smirk.
But even Ikuto seemed to know when to stop playing sometimes. Fighting Easter, there were so many times Amu could have gotten hurt, or worse. She had been kidnapped, shot at, and pushed off of buildings, and hadn’t Ikuto defied his boss’s orders countless times to save her when that happened? Why would he do that, though? If she wasn’t able to fight Easter, wouldn’t that make his job so much easier? Didn’t he get in trouble over that sort of thing? Hadn’t he actually been hurt after letting her escape that one time? He had been so helpless and alone, that Yoru had begged her, the enemy, to help him. Of course she had, because those injuries were her fault.
Maybe he actually does love you, thought a small voice in her head, which she quickly drowned out. Yeah, right! He probably just didn’t want Easter to stop him from being able to torment me, like a cat guarding its favorite toy!
Besides, it wasn’t like he treated the people he claimed to care for very well anyway. He left to look for his father, all the while cursing him for abandoning his family; he disowned his mother, still in the asylum after Aruto-san’s disappearance, and he had left his little sister Utau to raise herself any way she knew how, even if that meant becoming a puppet of Easter. Even now, he was the only one she would openly show affection for (she could be cold even to Kukai-kun), and he still would only see her if he was paid enough to perform with her. He had been especially cruel in constantly bullying Tadase Hatori, who had looked up to him and called him Nii-san.
Tadase. Amu’s first love. Their relationship had ended badly, and Amu still partially blamed Ikuto for it. Amu had admired Tadase since fourth grade, and their Guardian adventures had brought them together in fifth grade, leading to a relationship spanning sixth and part of seventh grade. He had been such a kind boy at first, giving everything he worked at and everyone he cared for his all. It was probably this absolute dedication that had drawn Amu to him in the first place. Once they started dating, he doted on her, always checking in with her, surprising her, looking for new ways to show her his love. But after they went to different middle schools, Tadase changed. He became a bit…too dedicated. It probably started with the constant texts. They had been so sweet in the beginning:
“I hope you’re having a great day.”
“I know you will do fantastic on your test today.”
“Thank you for being in my life.”
“I love you.”
But then they became weird. Obsessive. And constant. She had sometimes felt drowned in texts that made her feel…off. Like, kind of drained and even kind of nervous for some reason she couldn’t place her finger on.
“Do you truly love me?”
“There’s no one else for you, right?”
“Why won’t you text back?” He would text her in class! He may have been smart enough to get into a special middle school for gifted students, but she actually had to pay attention in class to keep up, thanks very much! Then he started obsessively asking her friends about her. Yaya-chan and Rima-chan had complained about the constant “why won’t Amu text me? Is she okay?” texts while they were in class. He would even show up unexpectedly after school, expecting long walks while he prattled on he, blissfully ignorant of her concern over her missed student club meetings or the test she needed to study for, prattled on about how he would graduate from his elite school and get a fantastic job so he could meet her every need and she wouldn’t need to lift a finger. She never felt like she could tell him she didn’t want to be taken care of like a child.
Ikuto had texted her during those years too, sending pictures of his adventures in Europe and asking about his “little Prince” Tadase. He teased them both so much, and Amu had yelled at Ikuto for constantly berating Tadase to “hurry and grow up man enough for Amu,” and threatening to steal her away. Honestly, didn’t that man have anything better to do than pick on kids? Looking back, Amu couldn’t help but wonder if Ikuto’s bullying had pushed Tadase to become so freakishly possessive of her.
Ikuto had been there New Year’s Day of seventh grade, that painful day, and Amu still wondered if things could have been different had Ikuto not been there. Of course, things had not been going well with Tadase to begin with, but they had talked about a fresh start in the new year; she loved him so, so much, and she still had hope that things could work! It started off well; Amu and Tadase met with Yaya-chan, Rima-chan, and Nagi-kun (who had only recently confessed that he and Nadeshiko were one and the same, and while Amu liked Nagi-kun a lot, she was still trying to get used to it) at the town’s New Year Festival. The girls had gotten matching hair ornaments, and Tadase had bought hers for her. Nagi-kun had offered to buy Rima-chan’s, which she had proudly refused, although not without a blush. Everyone was not-so-patiently waiting for them to finally realize they liked each other! Amu had added a new year’s prayer for them, in addition to her prayers her strained relationship with Tadase. Oh, how she had prayed with all her might when it was her turn at the shrine that year! She had felt so fresh and new afterward, and after seeing Tadase’s old, kind smile and taking his soft, strong hand, she really did believe that everything would be okay….
And then Ikuto arrived, lazily strolling behind a red-faced, pouting Kukai-kun, something about “hurry and grow up man enough for my little sister,” and “oh that’s rich coming from someone who only came to her concert because he was paid to open for her!” As soon as they arrived, Tadase had tensed, and Amu with him. As the day went on, things had gotten worse, and all because Ikuto wouldn’t mind his own damn business!
He had tried to buy her a hair ornament, saying the one she had looked too childish for her. Despite her insistence that she didn’t need fashion advice from a nosy man-child, Tadase had gripped her hand more tightly, as he had started to do lately when he was becoming jealous.
When they visited a maze to be completed in groups of two or three, Ikuto just had to crash Amu and Tadase, saying he “couldn’t possibly trust his mischievous little brother with Princess Amu.” Tadase had been silent the whole time, his face a dark shadow, and his hand had gripped hers ever more tightly. Her hand had even hurt! Despite the tension and pain, Amu had tried her best to laugh, smile, and bring joy back to their day, which had only seemed to anger Tadase even more, resulting in an even tighter grip. And that damn Ikuto had not helped, but simply strolled along whistling to himself, his obliviousness to the awkwardness he caused even more painful than Tadase’s grip.
The final straw had been in the early evening, right before show, when they stopped to get hot drinks. Tadase had gotten Amu and himself hot chocolates-huge with mounds of whipped cream and toppings, an extravagant peace offering typical of Tadase. Amu had sipped hers slowly to prevent a massive rush of sugar to her underprepared stomach, allowing the heat to sooth her cramping hand. Ikuto was taking forever getting his drink, Kukai-kun had gone backstage with Utau, and Nagi-kun and the girls were singing and dancing in anticipation of the concert, leaving Amu and Tadase to finally get some time to themselves. They sat silently, feeling each others’ warmth, watching as the night’s first stars fought to shine in the fading twilight. His hand had caressed hers so softly; how could it possibly have been the same hand to crush hers so just an hour past? It was moments like these when Amu remembered the warm, kind boy who wanted to walk forever by her side, protecting her heart, and oh, how she wanted him to so, so much! If only time could have frozen in that last perfect moment….
And then Ikuto had shown up with two apple ciders, holding one out to Amu. “Yo, Amu,” he had said with that devilish smirk of his, “I got an extra cider, you can have it if you like,” and then with a sneer at her hot chocolate, “after all, you only drink milk after a bath, no?”
Amu had screamed at Ikuto to stop saying such perverted things, demanding to know if he had anything better to do that harass children, but the damage had been done. Tadase had flown to his feet, cocoa spilled, face red, fists clenched. He had opened his mouth, but uttered no words, and finally just pushed past Ikuto, storming off. Amu had wanted to call to him, to say anything to heal his wounded heart, but her voice had been caught in her throat, no words able to reach him, no thoughts able to comprehend this situation she found herself in. Instead, with Tadase out of her reach, she had unleashed all her feelings on Ikuto in a fierce rage.
“Why do you always ruin everything? Why do you like seeing me hurt? Why can’t you just leave me alone?” Looking back on it, Amu had hurled some pretty hurtful words at Ikuto, and for the first time, he had looked fazed, eyes open wide, face blank with shock as Amu continued to rant.
It was Rima-chan, in her fierce protection mode, who had stood between them with a curt “I think you should go, and Nagi-kun, in his rational, peace-keeping way, who offered, “I think there are some things to talk about that might be better discussed when everyone has had a bit of time to cool down.” Ikuto had just continued to stare in shock for what had seemed like an eternity before finally turning and walking away, slumped and defeated.
Amu’s friends had tried their best to help her enjoy what was left of the festival, as she had tried to take joy in their kind efforts. Rima-chan had shown her a comedy routine she had been working on, breaking her rule of only showing complete work (a rule she now broke frequently with her comedic partner Berkeley), Nagi-kun had offered to put his hair up and talk to her as Nadeshiko, an gesture met with a vigorous offer of hair ribbons from Yaya-chan and a jealous pout from Rima-chan. Both Nagi-kun and Kukai-kun (who must have been surprised to rejoin them and ask about Tadase only to be met with tears and sad glances) offered to talk to Tadase, “help him resolve things, man to man,” as Kukai-kun had put it. They had watched skits and acrobats, jugglers and dancers, Amu and her friends, and she laughed and smiled with gratitude for them, almost forgetting her heartbreak, but when a concert agent rushed past them, screaming into his headset to get Utau ready faster because “that damn violinist cancelled his opening act,” Amu’s heart tightened, and she took a bathroom break that became a long walk by herself.
She hadn’t meant to travel so far, all the way to the abandoned fence at the edge of the festival grounds, but she had found what her heart was searching for: Tadase, head down, covered in shadow and gloom. Oh, how she had run to him, so determined to set things straight and heal both their aching hearts once and for all! But when she had met his eyes, she had met with a crazed glare, piercing her from under disheveled hair.
“Oh, you finally showed up,” he had almost growled, as if he was so angry he didn’t even see her worth talking to as a person anymore. Amu’s stomach had been filled with so much dread, but still she must push on!
“Tadase-“
“Do you really only drink milk after a bath? Should I have waited to get you chocolate till you bathed? Would you have drank it then?”
“Tadase, I-“
“Why the hell do you let him talk to you like that? Do you like that?”
“No one can stop his teasing! You know that! It’s not like it means anything! He’s a adult, for heaven’s sake! An immature one, but an adult! He’s not…not like us!”
“It’s not just him! Everyone loves you, and you just let it happen like you like all the attention! What about Kairi? He confessed to you, didn’t he? Did you ever actually tell him no?”
“He…he didn’t really give me a chance to before he left, did he?” She stammered, not understanding just what he thought was going on. “Besides, I think choosing you is a clear enough rej-“
“And Kukai liked you too! Did you pretend not to notice?”
“What are you-? Kukai-kun is with Utau-chan!”
“And have you seen the way Nagihiko looks at you? Although it’s not surprising; you even spent the night at his house!”
“We thought he was a girl and you know it! Don’t you dare…Nagihi-no, Nadeshiko was my best friend!” This was when she had started to cry. Amu cared for Nagi-kun, and was happy he could be his true self. But at that time, Amu was still feeling the lost of her first female best friend.
Her tears had only made Tadase snarl. “And now you cry for him?! You cry for Nagi, for Ikuto, who won’t you cry for?” and after a pause, “you were supposed to be mine only, but who doesn’t your heart belong to?” And then he had grabbed her wrist, holding it over her head, backing her up against the fence.
“Tadase, you’re hurting me!” she had screamed into vacant space, all festival-goers still at the concert. She had struggled against his grip, only to have her other wrist captured and pinned to the fence, escape impossible.
“But you let Ikuto do this all the time, don’t you? Am I not good enough? Should I try harder?” His grip even tighter, Amu was crying. She had wanted to scream that he wasn’t making any sense, that this wasn’t the Tadase she knew. She wanted to beg for her old Tadase back, but she couldn’t speak; her words were drowned out by fear and pain. Through her tears, the world had appeared to be spinning in front of her, swallowing her. Even Kiseki had begged Tadase to stop, insisting that rule by fear was not the way to get real control of the world or even one person in it, but, in that moment, Tadase rejected his guardian character as “weak,” declaring that he would be a king by his own strength. Amu had watched as Kiseki was forced back into his egg only to disintegrate forever, destroyed by Tadase’s will that was still strangling Amu, nearly breaking her wrists. Meanwhile, Ran, Miki, Su, and Dia were screaming for Amu to transform, but she couldn’t reach her Humpty Lock in her captivity. And even if she had been able to, could Amu really turn her guardian characters on the boy who taught her to accept them in the first place; did she truly have it in her him, even then?
She had never been forced to decide. Tadase had been suddenly thrown backward through the air, crumpling in a heap on the ground. Without Kiseki, he no longer had the heightened resistance to physical damage granted to guardian bearers. Even so, he had raised his bleeding head only to meet the iron claws of Ikuto’s character transformation preventing any further attack. Amu had approached cautiously, the arm Ikuto spread out to block her from Tadase’s reach unnecessary; her throbbing wrists reminded her not to get any closer. There had been a moment of silence that felt absolutely endless, where Amu was swimming in so many nightmares all swirling together right in front of her while she searched in vain for some piece of…something…something that made sense for her to cling to in this upheaved world. She couldn’t even look up as she said the only words that felt so heartbreakingly right: “Tadase, I…can’t do this anymore. Please don’t ever come near me again.”
And then she had run, unable to face Tadase, Ikuto, her friends, anyone. She ran all the way home, all the way upstairs and to her room, unable to face her alarmed parents or whimpering sister. And how could she have, how could she explain the dreadful things that had just happened when she couldn’t even make sense of them herself? Even her four would-be selves had been unable to offer useful words, and so just waited with her, silent, sad, scared as she was.
How long had she been there, braced against her door as if she could keep the hurt out? An eternity? Two? More? before her mother knocked gently on the door, promising they could talk when she was ready, but a bath and some sleep would help her most. She had also assured her that when her worried friends had called, she had let them know Amu was safe and just needed some rest. In that moment, Amu had been so grateful for her mother’s gentle understanding nature that she followed her suggestion and took a bath, massaging her bruised wrists as the hot water wore away at some of the despair. When she had emerged, a glass of milk was waiting on her desk, and Amu even had even managed a smile at her mother’s thoughtfulness. She had taken the milk to her balcony and the refreshing night breeze, only to see Ikuto sitting on the railing, feet hanging over the street below. As she stood in the doorway in shock, he had turned to face her, tears streaking his face.
“I’m sorry.”
His voice came out as nothing but a hoarse whisper. She knew he wasn’t just apologizing for what had happened to her, but she also felt it was for something other than the teasing that had caused it. She didn’t entirely understand what he was apologizing for that could move him to tears like this, nor did she want to know at that moment. On top of everything that had happened already, this was just too much.
“Amu, what do I do?”
“I don’t know Ikuto. I’m just a kid. I don’t know.” She couldn’t stand his long, sad gaze, wanting something from her she could neither understand nor provide. “Please go,” she had whispered, unsure of her words at first, and then, louder and with more conviction, “please.”
Her final glimpse of Ikuto was still burned into her mind. A smile so wide, not his usual teasing grin, but a genuinely kind, well-wishing smile, one concealing so much pain. His eyes closed, shutting in the rest of his tears as his face still glistened. “Hurry and grow up, Amu.” An uncharacteristically gentle voice, cracking at the end. And then he had jumped to the ground and leapt away into the night, his silhouette revealing the cat’s ears and tail of his would-be self.
The coming days and weeks would involve doctor visits, calls to Tadase’s parents, and many precautions in place for Amu’s safety: her parents working more from home, her friends accompanying her to and from school, and the watchful eyes of Nikaido-sensei and Tsukasa-san over her as she continued to study.
Tadase would never speak to her again, either because he was decent enough to at least do that for her, or because he knew how well protected she was and was afraid to approach her. Amu had been so shocked, scared, and heartbroken during that time, but she had so many people supporting her along the way, that she eventually learned to feel normal and once again began to shine with hope for the future. By the time she left for her new world a year and a half later, she had become able to talk about Tadase, both the good and bad, just like every other piece of her past. When her new friend Berkeley had asked if she had ever dated before, she was able to her the honest story of Tadase, a kind boy with so much love to give that it had consumed him and made him sick.
She left Ikuto out of the story, though she had thought about him for a long time, perhaps even longer than she had about Tadase. Not that it meant anything, of course. It was simply that her situation with Tadase was clear. She could mull over what had caused it or what could have been different, and she had, but the fact was that he had hurt her and she could not safely be around him anymore. There was no point in further speculation.
But Amu had struggled more to put Ikuto out of her mind. She could tell that night that there was so much more he had wanted to say, but she herself had silenced his words, that secret heart she couldn’t carry back then. But she couldn’t help wondering just what was in that heart, and how did it concern her? Would he ever tell her now? Why hadn’t she listened when she had the chance, before he had stopped talking to her?
She would hear he was back in Europe, still searching for his father and becoming quite a popular performer, but she would receive no more pictures of his travels, no more blurry phone recordings of his cabaret concerts, no more questions about school and if she was grown up yet, no more teasing. Nothing. She had half expected him to arrive uninvited when her friends threw her a going away party the weekend before she left for America. But he did not, and after leaving for a corner of the Earth so far away he couldn’t possibly reach, he eventually faded from her thoughts. Maybe that was for the best. She had so much to be getting on with; she couldn’t spend what little was left of her childhood haunted by that enigma of a man, teasing yet protective, that sad smile, that melancholy melody pulling on her heart….
Amu hadn’t realized that she was now a considerable number of paces behind her friends, or that there were tears in her eyes. Berkeley and Suzie looked back at her, concern on their faces. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry; I think some of that concrete powder or whatever got in my eyes!” She pointed to the taped off area about twenty feet behind them, where two construction workers drilled into the ground with a jackhammer, and started to laugh. Suzie, bless her heart, pulled out a handkerchief, with which Amu pretended to wipe specks from her eyes. Berkeley gave her that knowing gaze, and Amu laughed sheepishly, knowing she had some explaining to do later. When she had recovered herself, they walked the remaining block to the studio and checked in at the table outside.
“Ah, Miss Chen, Mrs. Mansfield had to take her maternity leave early, but the substitute for your class agreed to start covering early, so you will be in good hands.”
“Thank you very much, Mr. Nishida,” said Suzie in her sweet, refined voice to the studio manager. “Is everything all right with Mrs. Mansfield?”
“Baby came a bit early, but all is well. A healthy boy. Mrs. Mansfield will be back with us in about two months, after she’s had time to settle in. It’s her first, after all!”
“Of course, thank you so much for taking such good care of us all. Please send my regards to Mrs. Mansfield.”
“Surely, Miss Chen. Now, are these two sweet friends of yours here for today’s promotional lessons?”
“Yes, Mr. Nishida. Amu Hinamori and Berkeley Walker. Would it trouble Mrs. Mansfield’s substitute to take them in my class for the day?
“I’m sure it would be fine. He may be a bit rough-looking, but he seems like the type who can handle himself well. Now, Miss Hinamori and Miss Walker, loaner violins are available by the table at the start of the main hall. Once you’ve got those, just follow Suzie and let her teacher know you’re promotional students today. Have a great time and welcome!”
After they got their violins, they filed into Suzie’s class, gushing about what a sweet gentleman Mr. Nishida was, calling them “Miss!” Suzie explained that while Mr. Nishida was a very sweet man indeed, it was common, even expected, to call music students “Mr.” and “Miss,” rather than by the more common first name. Berkeley exclaimed “wow, so proper!” in wide-eyed amazement, while Amu was reminded fondly of the honorifics of her native Japan. The substitute appeared to be a few minutes late, so the girls watched as Suzie set up her instrument and attempted to copy her movements. How does she make poise look so easy, wondered Amu in admiration and slight embarrassment at her own awkwardness. Suzie assured her and the equally struggling Berkeley that it was quite normal; she had struggled at first too. The girls all giggled, having fun in this sweet moment together.
And then he appeared at the front of the classroom. His entrance had been silent, so few students noticed amidst the hubbub, and Amu might not have either if the corner of her eye had not been positioned just so at just the right moment. Tall, lanky frame clad in baggy gray and black plaid slacks, draped over an incredibly scuffed pair of black boots. A wrinkled and faded black button-up shirt, untucked, sleeves rolled up, top button undone to expose a bulky silver cross. Long indigo hair, only partially captured by the loose ponytail at the back, the rest falling into his deep blue eyes, framed by severe-looking black-rimmed reading glasses that actually dressed up the rest of his rumpled outfit. Those piercing midnight blue eyes, open wide in a shock that mirrored Amu’s own, boring into her soul to call back unanswered questions she had abandoned long ago.
Amu almost dropped her violin as he made his way to her, ignoring other students’ gossiping and giggling, the fiddling with instruments, and other reminders of the present world, suddenly far too mundane to contain this moment. He stopped a foot in front of her, leaning over her wide-eyed, upturned face, searching it as if he had left some sort of truth there long ago. Berkeley looked from one to the other with a slightly raised eyebrow, the only giveaway that her curiosity was anything more than mild.
Suzie was the one to break the silence with a soft greeting: “Um, excuse me, sir, are you the substitute instructor for this class?” He finally removed his intense gaze from flushed, trembling Amu to glance at her. When he said nothing, she continued “…I’m Suzie Chen of Mrs. Mansfield’s class, and these are my friends Amu Hinamori and Berkeley Walker, here to receive promotional lessons today. Thank you for taking over the class on such a hectic day, and if you need any help during class, please feel free to call on me.” He stared at her for a few seconds, his true attention still obviously on Amu.
“Yo, Amu,” he said, recovering some of his old confidence, but not the hint of teasing his voice had always carried. No, this was more reserved and polite, even despite the familiar language. Then, turning to Suzue, “thank you, Miss Suzie. I gladly accept your care.
He then strode back to the front to call class to order. “Attention, everyone. Class will now begin. I will start with roll call, first the studio members and then the promotional visitors. Listen up for your name.” Seeing the looks off confusion, he added, “oh yeah, Mrs. Mansfield took an early maternity leave, so for the next two months, starting today, you will be in my care. I have performed on stages in Japan, Europe, Australia, and the United States, both as a soloist and as a member of an orchestra. I have a recorded solo album and appear in six orchestral albums. I am currently working on my second solo album and collaborating with the Indie rock band Stray-t and Narrow, Stray-t spelled S-t-r-a-y-hyphen-t. We will be opening for the world-famous Utau Hoshina this weekend at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco. Is there anyone who does not believe I possess the qualifications needed to lead this class?” At the end his voice took on an icy edge, as if daring anyone to speak out against him. When no one did, he continued: “My name is Ikuto Tsukiyomi, you can call me by first or last name. I’m here to teach you music, not some stuffy outdated etiquette. You want that, go to finishing school.” Then, locking his fierce gaze on Amu, concluded, “Let’s get started.”
Amu, trembling, struggled even more than before to position her instrument. Her mind was all at once racing at light speed and standing dead still. Her heart was pounding against her chest, and her blood coursed in her ears, dizzying her. How can he be all the way here, after all this time? What do I say? What do I do? How do I act? Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Suzie chuckled nervously, probably uncomfortable with the coarse character of her new instructor, and confused about the way he was treating her frazzled friend. Berkeley’s stare rested on the strange man as she nonchalantly whispered under her breath, “So that’s Ikuto, huh? Well, this ought to be interesting….”
Hello to whoever still reads these!
For those of you who know me, (and even those of you who don’t) you probably know that I am a little bit of a [budget] adrenaline junkie. It’s not a cheap habit to fund, and I’m sure my mom would rather me be a knitting junkie or a getting good grades junkie, but I turned out how I turned out. I blame my dad for encouraging this– we made a pact when I was 7 or 8 that I’d go skydiving with him when he turned fifty, and my first trip to Universal Studios as a kid was spent trying to sneak onto the big scary rides that I was too little for (admittedly a bad move and, yes, we are all shocked that I am alive at 22).
Anyway, this weekend I went whitewater rafting in the Pacuare River, which I had never heard of before I was literally in bus on my way there. I was minimally involved in the planning of this trip and basically just showed up where I was told at the ridiculous hour that I was told to show up.
The rafting company picked us up outside our school in San Jose, and took us over the mountains to the east and to Squirres, Limón where we ate breakfast and headed down to the river. The guide scared the absolute sh*t out of us on the ride over about all the ways we were going to die in the river, I decided if it was my time it was my time, we saw a King Vulture which is apparently very rare where we were, and then we were suddenly rafting.
Rapids are classified on a scale of I to VI, but commercially you can only do up to class V. Class VI is reserved for people who want to raft and kayak off of waterfalls, but must do so at their own risk and without a commercial rafting guide. The Pacuare has rapids class I to class IV, and we cycled through all of these over a span of about 19 miles. For anyone who was wondering why I didn’t write this post until four days later, it’s because I just regained the use of my arms. The rapids were thrilling, but what really made the trip incredible for me was the landscape (riverscape?). I’ll include photos below, but there’s no way that a single one of them is going to do this place justice. The Rio Pacuare is allegedly one of the top five places to go whitewater rafting in the world, so I may have seriously spoiled myself by doing it for the first time there, and I don’t have any other points of reference to compare this to, but I believe that whole top five business.
 It felt like I was in a dream. At one point, we were able to leave the boats and just float ourselves down the river, and I was so lost in the moment, I was just laughing to myself the whole way down, in complete disbelief that I was even living real life. I’m sure people feel like this all the time, or maybe you think you have but haven’t (definitely would have thought I understood this feeling prior to actually feeling it), and I’ve definitely been overwhelmed with my appreciation for the beauty of certain places in my life, but never like this. I don’t know how to explain it without sounding like a crazy person or using cliches like “enchanting” and “picturesque,” so I’ll move on, but if you do nothing else in your life, go raft down the Pacuare. The adrenaline, plus the pure appreciation for life and the world, was an insane and druglike combination.
There were 8 people and a guide in our boat, all of us laughing and joking and screaming and trying to wrap our heads around the experience all four hours we were on the water.
PS-- in keeping with the themes of my last post... This entire trip (pickup, 3 hour ride, breakfast, rafting, lunch, another 3 hour ride) was all $85.
It’s worth mentioning that I suffer one of the worst cases ever recorded of a condition called RBF (Resting Bitch Face), and an accompanying condition called Crippling Negativity, but I bought the rafting photos (because I’m a sucker) and I have never seen myself look so happy. Both of those Real Medical Conditions were temporarily 100% cured. Even my mom said she hadn’t seen me that happy. I can genuinely not remember ever having been so happy in my entire life, either, which sounds depressing but I swear I was just that stoked to be alive on that day. I was feeling so in love with life, and that’s one of those feelings you just want to bottle up and keep under your bed just in case.
Birds and butterflies passed overhead, waterfalls poured down next to us on either side, and people from an indigenous group called the Cabécar fished along the banks. The Cabécar live along the ridges of the Talamanca Mountain Range and make the trek (sometimes four or five hours) down to town for work or to buy clothes and toiletries. They don’t walk around in loincloths carrying spears, just jeans and t-shirts like the rest of us, but live without electricity in their homes, and practice small-scale agriculture and hunting for food. Also, take notes, the Cabécar are a matrilineal society, which means that the mothers are the heads of the household. They speak their own language, and are almost entirely self-sustained. We passed under a few of their transportation systems– a “zipline” type rig in which a person gets into a large basket and pulls themselves over the river to cross it, like a big hand-powered cable car. They’re also a pretty private people who close their doors and windows should a stranger happen across their homes, which is pretty much the same thing I do, so I liked learning about them and seeing them on the river. As we passed by one of the men fishing in the river, he pulled a fish out with his bare hands and held it up with a big giant smile to show us.
So, yeah, life felt pretty unreal on Saturday and I’m still not sure that entire day really happened, but here are some photos that barely do the trip justice. I didn’t take any of these, which is pretty clear because I am in most of them.
A/N: A requested piece! My first requested piece, which I hope lives up to your expectations. Mrs Turner's name will be Lynn. Unsure if it's been mentioned in the show. Also the text exchange has been included in the word count - the lesser amount is if it were not included. Hopefully, that makes sense. Apologises for grammatical errors. Feel free to let me know about any corrections I need to make with the Spanish translations, thanks!.
(Y/N) bopped her head along to 3LW's Playas Gon' Play echoing through her portable speaker as she carried it and her phone into the kitchen. Carefully placing the two on the counter she searched through the fridge, trying to find the food she had hidden in a container at the back. As soon as (Y/N) heard the theme song for The Goonies cut through the second verse, she didn't need to see the name on the screen to know who was calling.
She disconnected her bluetooth, pressed the green button and put it on loud speaker, and answered, "hey."
"A sum of thirty five dollars is owing on your account, please transfer funds effective immediately. Thank you."
At the sound of a beep, (Y/N) stared at her phone for a few seconds before laughing. Her brother was something else. She logged into her (bank) app and made the transfer. Thankfully they were with the same bank. Once it was finalised, she sent a confirmation message.
(Y/N)
Owing balance has been cleared.
She then proceeded to reconnect her phone to the speaker and clicked shuffle on her most recent playlist. She grinned upon hearing Love Like This by Faith Evans playing. Swaying her hips, she grabbed the container and popped it into the microwave for a couple of minutes.
Feeling a familiar pair of arms wrap across her body, she laughed, "was I away too long?"
Jose kissed the top of her head, "yes."
"So needy," she giggled and turned to face him, reaching out and pinching his cheeks, "such a needy baby," she puckered her lips, "beso."
He snickered, but gave into her demand. His hands wandered down her back, deepening the simple kiss. They eventually found their way to her ass, giving it a squeeze. (Y/N) allowed him to take control as her own hands wandered up and down his solid body. The kiss lasted a lot shorter than she anticipated, causing a whine to fall from her lips.
"What's the matter, mi amor?"
She pouted, "nothing."
Laughing, he squeezed her hips, "aw, looks like somebody's a needy baby," he moved his hand to tilt her chin up, "who's a needy baby?"
She huffed, "I'm the needy baby," she was given a peck to the forehead, "but you love me."
"Always, baby."
They held each other close, enjoying the calm atmosphere surrounding them. They had the house to themselves and were going to take full advantage of it. (Y/N) only removed herself from the embrace when the microwave beeped and TLC's No Scrubs hit a blimp.
She glanced over at her phone and pressed her messages.
Jamal
Enjoy the rest of your day.
"Who's on watch?" She asked, popping open the microwave.
Since the 19th Street attack on her dad and his business, Spooky had Santos members watching the house. The image of her father on that night is something (Y/N) would never forget. She was relieved to know that he, as well as the business, would recover but she was upset at the way 19th Street tried to assert their dominance, now that the Prophet$ were out of the picture.
The only thing stopping her from beating up a couple of punk ass bitches, was her conscious reminding her that igniting a gang war wouldn't be the answer. The upside to the incident was getting time off from the hospital to take care of her father (she temporarily moved back in) as well as spend time with Jose. When she came clean to her family about him being her boyfriend, Jamal had leapt off the couch in the living room; did his victory dance and practically shoved his hand into their parents faces.
(Y/N) couldn't believe that they had a betting pool about her and Jose, but they simply shrugged her off and claimed it was bound to happen - she had fallen into the 'best friends who become more' category. But, it was a place she was more than happy to be.
"Joker," he said, bumping his hip with hers, grabbing a tea towel and placing it on her hands, "quit doin' that shit."
She had a habit of grabbing things out of the oven or microwave without anything protecting her hands. With an eye roll, she accepted the tea towel, "okay, okay." he watched as she covered her hands and pulled out the container. Before he could grab some plates, she put a fork in his hand.
"Maldito perezoso."
"Shut up," she replied and shoved a forkful of the stir fry into her mouth, "if you wanna wash more dishes, go ahead."
He gently tapped her cheek, "don't talk with your mouth full," he clicked his tongue, when she opened her mouth wider to show off the chewed up pieces of food, "(Y/N)!" She laughed, but her laughter turned into a coughing fit. Luckily, Jose knew that was bound to happen and held out a glass of water for her. (Y/N) gulped it down, wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and grinned happily, "you're the best."
Shaking his head, he helped himself to some of the stir fry, "and you're something else."
They continued to eat and chat about different topics; their families, Santos business (they had a non-disclosure agreement), and a few of (Y/N)'s  gossiping coworkers. When they were done, they quickly rinsed their hands off in the sink and wiped them on the tea towel. (Y/N) then dumped the empty container and their forks into the sink. Dip It Low by Christina Milian started to play, which gave her an idea. Her hands trailed up and down his chest, Jose groaned as they wandered lower. She giggled at his reaction and turned around, moving to grind on him. Feeling him getting hard, she continued.
"Si sigues con esto, ya sabes qué pasará," he groaned, gripping her hips.
(Y/N) turned back around and stared up at him, her eyes innocently peering into his, "is it too soon for round three?"
Without a second thought, he lifted her onto the counter. (Y/N) caressed his head with one hand, while the other switched off the music. He moved to suck on her collarbone, earning a moan of approval. She tugged on his shirt and admired his toned body when the shirt was thrown off. Jose smirked, as he connected his lips with hers, helping her to get rid of the tank top she was wearing.
He watched as her boobs bounced, before cupping them both. Taking a nipple in his mouth and fondling with the other, sent (Y/N) into a state of bliss. When Jose turned his attention to the other nipple, she clutched the back of his head.
"Baby," she moaned.
The sound of something dropping followed by a shout of, "OH HELL NO!" is what alerted the couple that they weren't alone anymore. (Y/N) pushed Jose off her, throwing on her tank top and hopped off the counter. She hid herself behind him, peering around his arm to see the bewildered expressions on both her parents faces. Although, her dad looked like he wanted to murder Jose.
Like the smartass she was, she blurted, "mum said no cussing in the house." As soon as she said that, she hid herself fully behind Jose.
"(Y/N) (M/N) Turner, front and centre." Dwayne called out to his daughter, when she followed through he continued, "you're sanitising everything in this kitchen," his eyes trailed over to Jose, "you're helping her, and the next time you're both feeling… frisky - just… you're gonna, you know… you understand me?"
Lynn stepped in, "we understand the sexual desires -"
"No, mum, please, don't."
"I know it's an awkward subject to discuss -"
(Y/N) cut her off, "especially in front of my boyfriend."
"And father," Dwayne chimed in.
"- but, it's completely natural." She continued.
"Okay, mum thanks for that," (Y/N) wanted to crawl underneath a rock, "anyway, we've got some stuff to do," noticing her father's watchful eye, she laughed, "non-sexual stuff, dad."
Dwayne wasn't convinced.
Lynn pulled her husband towards the hallway, "come on, let's leave them to it." As they walked off, they could hear Dwayne telling his wife that he was right to be suspicious of the skinny kid who offered his daughter a toy car to play with back in the first grade. Once they were out of view, (Y/N) wrapped her arms around Jose's waist.
"Round three in the shower?"
What may come, part 4
  Part 3
 The morning that followed, you were up early.  A burst of ideas had woken you around 5 am and you had to write them down before they faded into the fog of early morning.  You were on your second cup of tea at the kitchen counter writing when Mila came down all dresses and ready to go.
“What are you doing up so early?”  The auto timer on the Keurig had filled her cup of coffee, now she stood, taking that first sip of delight for the morning.
“I woke up with ideas! I had to get them down.”  Mila laughed as she popped bread into the toaster.
“I’m glad to hear it. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.  I know you are going to knock everyone’s socks off.”  Excitement had been building in your belly.  While you were trying to stay cautious and not get your hopes too high, you could not help the thrill of it all.  Having the chance to shoot the teasers for a movie was an amazing opportunity and you did not want to waste it.
“I am supposed to call Mr. Tafuri at nine to go over the rest of my ideas then we will set up a time to do the shoot.”  Mila nodded as she buttered her toast and stood against the counter to eat.
“It will work out.  I think you already have a good grasp of the project’s concept.  There is another copy of the script on my desk if you want to read it and get an idea for the rest of it all in one piece.”  Your eyes lit up at the offer.
“That would be great, Mi! Thank you so much.”  All but running to the office, you could hear Mila call out behind you.
“Don’t mess up anything in there!  It should be right on top.”  The script was sitting on top and looked to have many Post-its set in pages throughout. Mila called out her goodbye as you stood there reading the first few pages.  By the time nine rolled around you had gotten through most of it and had come up with a few more ideas.  In total, you had ten plans for the four main characters.  A few of them were just off the top of your head the others had been more elaborate and had developed more after reading most of the script.
You called right at nine. His secretary put you on hold for a few minutes until Mr. Tafuri answered.  “[Y/N], I like punctuality.  Thanks for calling.  What do you have for me?”
Taking a deep breath you explained the ten proposals.  He shot down two of the basic ones right off the bat, which did not surprise you.  However, he asked question after question on several of the others.  He wanted to know what you were thinking and how you wanted to work it with the script. The call lasted just over thirty minutes.  All the while, your heart had been pounding in your chest but you were able to answer his questions without stumbling.  To you it sounded like a great call.
“How much of the script have you read?”  Mr. Tafuri asked after a brief pause.
“I am about two thirds of the way through, sir.”  You could only hope that would not be a problem.
“Think you can finish it by this afternoon?  I want you to meet with a couple of people from the art and design team.  I need some project boards made and presentable by tomorrow.  I have a meeting with the promotions department and I want you to be there to show them these ideas.  They are the others you have to convince.  The budget for the shoot is their territory.  You good with that?”  The conversation went from 0 to 60 in a very short span of time.  He was asking if you were ready to present your ideas to other bigwigs of the movie.
“Umm yeah… I mean yes. I am ready.  Whatever you need me to do, Mr. Tafuri.”
“Great.  Meet me here at two.  And good reading, [Y/N].”  The called ended with you trying not to hyperventilate.  Closing your eyes you took slow deep breaths counting as you did it. Once you had calmed enough you sent off a text to Mila about what was going to happen.  The response thirty minutes later showed her excitement.  It was all congratulations and encouragement, which is typical of your sister.  She was and had always been your biggest cheerleader no matter what it was.
 With the script finished a shower, lunch and rechecking that you had all you needed you left for the studio. By the time you made it to the gate, you were given a badge that you had not had the previous days.  Mr. Tafuri left this one for you for you to have access to the back building on site.  It was where you were going to meet with the teams.  He met you in the lobby as you arrived right on time.
“I like my team on time, awesome.  Let’s go meet the designers, [Y/N].”  He led you down a long hallway with lots of doors and people then up an elevator to the third floor.  Once there he brought you into a rather large room with art supplies and boards on one side and desks on the other.  There were four people waiting and as you entered the room another came up from behind you.  She scooted around the both of you, with a hand on a round tummy.  “Sorry, baby was on my bladder.”
“[Y/N], this is the art and design team.  The team lead with the watermelon under there is Kirsten, her assistant Jax., The designers are Elly, Richard, and Jose.”  The five of them all smiled and a couple of them waved in your direction.  “Team this is [Y/N].  As long as Promotions likes what you all do today, she will be doing the teaser shoot.  Now go on and make me look good.”  Mr. Tafuri winked as he left the room, leaving you with the team.
“Umm hi.  I’m really glad to be here.”  You held your folder tight against your chest.  Kirsten was the first to step forward and offer her hand.
“Nice to meet you, [Y/N]. I promise we don’t bite during work hours.”  This elicited a laugh from everyone and helped calm you slightly.  “Show me what you have and let us work our magic.”
Nodding you released some of the force you had holding the folder to your chest.  Everyone gathered around one of the tables as you pulled out the papers with your ideas.  You had adjusted some of the details but had left the majority of the originals intact. Within a few minutes, five sets of eyes were listening attentively to the ideas that poured from you.  Your arms were waving around as you tried to describe some of the more intricate plans you had.  Several questions were asked, as well as suggestions about how to adjust a detail or two.  When you had finished, you watched as they spoke among themselves firing ideas back and forth and sometimes even finishing each other’s sentences.
Before long they all went to work.  The designers had pulled out sketchpads and had all chosen different ideas to work on. Kirsten and Jax were doing something on the computer that you could not see but were talking about colors and print types as they worked.  Within a few hours all of the preliminary designs had be completed and were in your hand. While they still had to but redone onto presentation boards and prepped for the meeting tomorrow, they were incredible.
“I can’t believe how wonderful these look.  You are all so talented.  These are exactly how I envisioned.”  The team grinned over at you before high fiving each other.
“I am going to send this to print now; they should be back in a few hours.  Can I call you tonight and email them so we make sure this is what you want?”  Kirsten had pushed up her glasses on her face as she looked over to you.
“Oh of course.  What time do you think it will be?”
“Probably at least after eight.”  She stood from the desk and stretching her back.
“Whenever is fine.  I will make sure I have my phone and laptop with me at all times.  Thank you all so much.”  With the exchange of phone numbers, you were out the door.  As you made your way down to the lobby, a sigh of relief escaped. This was turning out so well you could hardly stand it.  All you wanted to do was tell Mila now.
It was easy to find the set from where you were.  You were given immediate access due to your badge and previous visit the few days prior. Everyone looked to be packing up for the day when you glanced down at your watch.  It was nearly six; the afternoon had flown by with the flurry of activity.  Mila was easy to find as she was shoving papers into her bag.  “Glad I caught you before you left.”
“Hey sweetie, how did it go? By the looks of that grin it must have went well.”  You felt like you were about to burst with everything you wanted to tell her.
“It went great.  I can tell you over dinner.  I want a glass of wine and something delicious.”  She grinned though shook her head.
“I wish I could do dinner with you tonight but I have to meet with the producers tonight.  I am supposed to go over how the project is going and all the really boring shit that I hate.  Rain check for later tonight?”  Though you were a little disappointed, you would still be able to tell her every detail later on.  Most likely after your call with Kirsten.
“Definitely.  I am going to grab a pizza and a bottle of wine on the way home then.  I have a call with the design lead after eight so whenever you get home later.” Mila hugged you tight before pulling her bag onto her shoulder.
“Great.  I will see you later.”  You watched a moment as she walked off with three men towards the opposite end of the set.  Turning quickly towards the exit you did not watch where you were going and ran directly into a broad chest.  The folder that had been in your hand went flying sending papers everywhere.
“Oh shit.  I am so sorry.”  When you looked up to further apologize, that bright beautiful smile of Tom’s shone down at you.
“No, [Y/N] I am sorry. I was going to say ‘hello’.  I did not expect you to turn so quickly.  I should not have been so close.  Here let me get your papers.”  He crouched down trying to retrieve the ones directly at his feet. You followed suit.
“I should have been paying better attention.  My head was in the clouds.”  Laughing quietly he handed you some of the papers as you pulled a few more into the folder.
“You do look quite happy today.  I hope that means you are having a lovely day.”  Just listening to his voice was weakening your knees.
“Yes it was a great day actually.  I got a lot accomplished and I am going to meet with the Promotions team tomorrow. I am pitching my ideas with them and Mr. Tafuri.  If they like them then… well I will be given the green light for the shoot.”  As the last of the papers were set safely inside the folder, you both stood looking at the other.
“That is wonderful.  I am elated for you.  We should celebrate.”
“Oh no, I don’t want to celebrate.  I haven’t gotten the job yet.”  Tom shook his head like he wanted to argue, but he refrained.
“Fine we won’t celebrate the job.  How about we get dinner and a drink to celebrate having a great day?”  His excitement made him even more cute and difficult for you to refuse.
“Alright let’s go get something to eat.  I can’t drink too much.  I still have a business call tonight.”
“Wonderful!  Let me grab my things from my trailer and we can go. Follow me.”  The walk to the trailer was short and he was quick in packing up.  The drive to the restaurant was short.  It was just down the street from the studio.  A lovely little pizza place that smelled of wood burning ovens.  You could not help but let all the details of your day just pour out as you sipped on your wine.  It felt so good to tell someone and Tom seemed very eager to listen. The smile on his face and his questions had kept the conversation going for some time, well after the pizza was finished and the wine bottle empty.  Before either of you knew it you had been sitting there talking for hours. You found he was very easy to talk to and he found a way to bring you out of the shell you tried to hide in before people got to know you.
“It must not have been that bad.  You are sitting here aren’t you?”  Tom laughed as he leaned back in the chair crossing his arms over his chest.
“It was awful!  I screamed the entire time and I refuse to go on any ride at an amusement park that drops you that far.  But yes… I guess I survived.”  Laughing came easy, you found with him.  Tom was not how you expected in your mind.  Mila was right when she said how down to earth he was. Your phone started to vibrate in your pocket, it was Kirsten.  Somehow, you had forgotten about the call and your laptop was in the car.  Holding a finger up to Tom, you answered.
“Hey Kirsten!  I am so glad they are ready.  Give me just a moment to go get my laptop.  I had lost track of time.”  Flashing a smile to Tom, you motioned that you were going out to the car.  He nodded before summoning the waiter over for the check.
You chatted with Kirsten as you tried to get your laptop to boot up with the wireless hotspot you had. As you waited, you watched Tom walk out of the restaurant and towards your car.  He stood there quietly waiting with you.  Once the machine had finally loaded you were able to open your email.
“Oh my God, Kirsten…”
“Pretty good?”
“Pretty good doesn’t even cut it.  They look fantastic.  I can’t wait to show these off tomorrow.”  Turning the screen towards him, you wanted Tom to be able to see what the design team had come up with.  His response was an enthusiastic nod and grin.
“I’m so glad.  You can pick them up in the morning before the meeting.  See you then.”
“See you!”  Ending the call, you screamed with excitement. “This is so freaking amazing.  I can’t believe this is really happening.”
“You deserve it.  The world should see your talent.”  He leaned over to hug you tightly.  You almost forgot your excitement for a moment being so close to him.  When he pulled back, he gave you an odd look.  “Are you alright?  You went a bit flush.”
“Umm yeah.  Fine.  Just all the excitement.”
“Good.  [Y/N], look I was trying to build up the nerve all night. This wasn’t exactly how I wanted it to go.  I mean I am so glad we had dinner tonight.  Together I mean.  Bloody hell I sound like a fool.”  Narrowing your eyes, you canted your head in confusion looking up at him as he was raking his hand through his hair.
“What do you mean? You aren’t a fool.”
“I sound like one.  I mean, [Y/N] would you like to have dinner with me?  A real dinner date where I pick you up and we have a lovely time together?”
Personal Narrative
         My personal experience in my immersion. The first day of my immersion was full of excitement. December 4, 2017. The alarm clock of my phone was ringing (cring cring) I wake up and start to pack up my lunch. I eat my breakfast, I take a bath and etcetera. After that, I go to PNP located at the San Jose, Rodriguez Hiway (to be exact). I entered, and met my co-immersion and wait for a while and Sir. San Jose oriented for us on that time we are all 22 students after we are oriented with Sir San Jose they assigned us to our position. I’m assigned to the PCR, that time I enjoyed the atmosphere of my position but on the second day it changed. December 5, 2017 8 am in the morning my PO3 Ma’am Silva is my adviser. And they have assistant named Sir Psalm taught me how to use a barrel. They assembled his barrel and then after that I followed him to how assemble it properly and then I enjoyed it.
         December 6, 2017 is the third day of my immersion. It was so boring. I started to sleep on the chair and it ended on that situation but after that before I went to my home I learned that I need to be a patient not all of the day is like the other days which are happy. Sometimes, you’ll feel fine . On the 4th day of immersion, I thought this seem like my last day of immersion but I’m wrong I chose to do what I didn’t do when three days passed. I need to move first before I was commanded by my adviser so in early morning I chose to get the dustpan and broom to clean our area and also other area for the cleanliness of our room because in the one room had a wide cubicle so all of that I chose to clean before our advisory come to the restricted area after that I opened the air-con because one of my advisory said to me that before she entered she felt the air conditioner and then I got the format and mop the floor to clean the corner while I wait for my for my advisor.
         The fifth day when we are in the school because of our Christmas party and also for the compilation that we have to pass cause this is the time our works so after that we have to cooperate at the party because some of my classmates said that this is the last time we will spend our time. Our happiness, unity, the last party in grade school so we must continue this party. So we are now meeting about that, they assigned that this group must bring this food tomorrow so our group is assigned to bring some sweet foods for the dessert. After assigned to some meeting they went to immersion but some of us chose to go to each other’s homes some chose to stay so many in school for compilation while I chose to go to my immersion but while we are on the stairs we didn’t know if we are to go in our restricted room in a few minutes we decide to go in our room. We started to do some tasks that we need to do. That day we spent five hours because we came on 12 in the afternoon so my adviser called me to go home with her so me I chose to go in the rooftop to eat dinner.
         January 3, 2018. Some of us are grade 12 – Language so my teacher said to me that in that year we would have a change of schedules. Broadcasting is on Monday, Literature is on Tuesday while Language is on Wednesday. Tomorrow is Wednesday, we don’t have an immersion because of the exams so my immersion would be moved to next Wednesday. January 17, 2018 Testimonio
Close reading/analysis
1 Why is the poem entitled " spring and fall" is the poem about spring and fall? Or is it about something else?
•because the author compared margarets feeling to what happens on those seasons.
2 The poet addresses his poem " to a young child" who is that child? (There may be more that one possibility here.)
•Margaret
3 What is Margaret crying about in the opening lines? What does she see that saddens her?
 •Over someone leaving
4 What does the word "unleaving" mean? How do you know it means that? The poet makes up other non-existent words also. List them.
•Coming back, wanwood, leatmeal.
 5 Why are margaret's thiughts " fresh"? What connotations does that word have instead of "innocent" or " immature" or "young"?
 •She just first time hall those thoughts
 6 What is strange about the phrase coming to "sights colder"? Does the word "colder" modify "sights"? Does it modify the word " heart"? Or does it modify the verb "come"?
 •It didn't explain how something such thing could come
7 How does the speaker say margaret will react in the future to the sight of dead plants? (Trick question!)
•There will be no expession
8 Why does the poet say that the "name" doesn't matter in line ten? Whose or whats name is he talking about?
•Beacuse everything will stay the same anyhow
9 For what purpose are people born, according to them poem?
 •It is the nature by heart
10 What does the speaker suggest margaret is really crying about, even though she doesn't know it?     •About someone who is about to leave.
Tumblr media
A Born and Raised Florida Girl with a Passion, a Laptop and a dream, I am honored to work in an industry where I can help people to experience joy, nostalgia, and escape through music. Through digital DJ services, customized performances, thoughtful song selection, and community education, I help people like you experience the joy of music when attending a DJ Shannon C event.
A Question that I’m Frequently Asked is
“How Did You Get Started as a Dj?”
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been completely in love with music. My grandmother started me on the piano at 5, and by 7 I could sit down and play songs I would hear on the radio. My musical ear was always very strong. I always gravitated to musical instruments, so it was no surprise that by age 12, I was the lead flutist in my middle school orchestra, and by 16, a lead trombonist in our high school symphony and jazz ensembles. I’ve always gravitated to drums and percussive instruments, experimenting with side rock and ska projects in high school. I also wrote musical arrangements for our 100 piece high school marching band.
I was also passionate about a multitude of seemingly unconnected things: teaching, psychology, entrepreneurship, creativity, dance, spirituality, fitness and philanthropy, just to name a few. I came to Tampa in 2002 to attend University of South Florida for Performing Arts and Dance. (I took a long break from music in my early 20’s as I was cultivating other interests and pursuing a corporate career.)
In July 2013, a friend booked me to play for her sister’s wedding, and shortly after, a neighbor who often heard me practicing, booked me to play weekly at his venue at International Plaza. I also began networking and working under different mentor djs as I progressed into my DJ career. In late 2014 I produced and hosted my first Art and Music showcase to benefit The Tampa Crisis Center, and , I aligned with Scratch Events, an agency in New York City, who began booking me for corporate and fashion brands.
In 2015 I began working in nightlife, serving the LGBT community in both Ybor City, and St Petersburg, FL. I also did my first guest set with Jose Da Magician at Art After Dark in South Tampa, and I aligned myself with Trinity Cafe to play music for the homeless on the Holidays.
In 2016, I took on my first Out of State gig at the Georgia World Congress Center for the SalesForce connections tour. I began doing guest spots with other local djs including DJ Qeys and DJ Knox at Crowbar for Takeover Tuesdays, and DJ D2 at Top Golf. I did fashion work for Millenia Fashion with With Mall at Millenia and Rapid 3D Print for their 3D Print Fashion Show. I also began teaching DJ lessons to local teens.
In 2017, I was invited into my first DJ crew, affectionately gaining the title of the First Woman of the Sinister Syndicate. I also began working for 99 Jamz FM, the Berg with a Weekly Segment called Ladies Take Over Thursdays on the Big Show.
In 2018, I’m excited to launch my second company, Digital DJ Youth Academy, which offers one to many classes for youth at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. The classes allow students exposure to DJ culture and music while integrating core skills for each age group including leadership, team building, creativity, individual expression, tolerance and celebration of differences, as well as reinforcing familiarity with numbers and language. My goal is to get kids turned on to music early and show them a path for creating a hobby or even a profitable career in music. I want to use music to help my youth reach their fullest potential both in Djing and in life.
