I always thought that Yammy and grimmjow shared a lot of similarities. Like even their title seemed a little redundant (Rage and Destruction...ok lol) They both rely a lot on their physical strength and use it as their only way to resolve conflict (as most hollow does i admit). The only big difference is prehaps that Yammy seems more dependent on people (ie the way he was with ulquiorra) even tho he has even less of an idea how to treat them ? Idk there is something with yammy demeanor that make seems younger (or simply way less mature) than the rest of the espada to me... prehaps he wasn't in hueco mundo for as long as the others ?
Also one of my favorites hollow moment is the interaction between Loly and Yammy...
True! They definitely have some things in common. oAo Grimmjow is considerably, uh, smarter than Yammy, but they're both pretty simple, especially in the sense that they have very straightforward goals and even more direct means of reaching them.
And yeah, Yammy is dependent, in a way. It's like... he hasn't fully realized that he needs to keep others at a distance (and that most other Hollows won't appreciate his presence), but at the same time, he's as clueless about how a non-violent relationship works as your average member of his species, if not a little worse. Yammy comes across as kind of "clumsy" to me. Like, even if his intentions weren't violent and awful, he'd still end up acting like it just because he's never done anything else, and wouldn't know where to start.
He does indeed seem "less mature", as you put it. Less like he's internalized the cruel and meaningless existence of Hollows, and more like he's still accepting living in a state of violence— just crushing one opponent after another because that's the only way he's ever lived, and he's simple enough not to question it or complain.
I enjoyed that moment too! Loly being so brave (despite how obviously terrified she was) was excellent... I just wish that she could have gotten at least a sort of proper fight out of it, instead of being beaten in about a second and thrown aside. -3-
