You Are the Apple of My Eye
Tumblr media
Movies watched in 2024
You Are the Apple of My Eye (2018, Japan)
Director: Yasuo Hasegawa
Writers: Kenzaburo Iida & Shiori Yamazuki (based on the movie by Giddens Ko)
Mini-review:
I've seen many movies like this one, but it was still pretty fun. I enjoyed a lot of the recurring gags, and most of the characters were likable too, even if they weren't as fleshed out as they could have been. I didn't really get the reasoning behind all the drama that happens in the second half, and the movie lost steam when it started focusing on that. Still, Yuki Yamada's charming and committed performance carries the movie through all its ups and downs. I can't compare this version of You Are the Apple of My Eye with the original one, as I haven't seen it, but I do think Yamada makes this one worth watching.

ok i'm giving in and asking because i just have to know: WHAT has been going on between asuna and miyu in the last few chapters? ive only been reading the free chapters and i know in the most recent one miyu asked to talk to asuna (and then it went back to monas pov) and in the most recent chapter previews (on twt) from what i understand, miyu wanted to ask haseo if she and asuna could switch so asuna could be the leader and she wouldnt have to do You Know anymore...was there more going on?
oh boy👀👀 wouldn’t you like to know?👀👀
(spoilers under the cut)
your understanding of it is pretty much the gist of what happened!
miyu was all like “i think you’re more suited to be the centre” to asuna, all while praising her for her singing and dancing abilities, and for giving the members of frusu advice on how to improve and such.
asuna was understandably pissed off by this sudden offer, since they’d been in frusu for 3 years so “why is she suddenly making this offer? does she think i’m stupid or what?”.
and then that’s when miyu slips up and refers to haseo over-familiarly (“yasuo-kun”) and is all like “i mean, hasegawa-san”, which is pretty sus, all things considered—
Tumblr media
asuna refuses the offer to switch centres, saying “you have more fans than me anyway”, and then miyu drops the fact that everyone in frusu knows that asuna’s been sleeping around to get jobs. “i discussed this with the other members (of frusu) and we think it’s best if you stopped doing the casting couch thing. but you want to stand out from the rest of us, right? then you should just be the centre. you’ll get more fans this way, and you won’t have to sleep around anymore, right?”, is pretty much the gist of what she said.
asuna just stands there in shocked silence (at the fact that miyu actually knew about the casting couch) while miyu just happily goes “i’ll discuss it with yasuo-kun… ah, i mean, hasegawa-san… so you can just rest easy, asuna.”.
Tumblr media
that’s where the flashback to the conversation ends, which leaves us with quite a few questions like “just what is going on between miyu and haseo?”, “what is miyu planning to talk about with him?”, “is miyu going to out asuna’s casting couch thing to him?”, and “just why did miyu suddenly choose to offer to switch centres right there and then, of all times?”.
but all of that’s for next time, i guess, as the chapter concludes on a rather upsetting note for asuna, complete with the potential for more frusu conflict!!!
Tumblr media
so stay tuned~?👀👀👀👀👀👀

RETRO VGM REVIVAL HOUR:                                            GAMES OF 2021
Last year may not have been a complete improvement over the previous one, if anything, It looks like certain areas of the world are right back at square one with just more precautionary measures to ensure people’s safety in an already hectic world.
In a year where so many things continue to go wrong, video games were pretty much one of the very few Highlights that stood out in 2021.
Providing much needed distractions from everything else that is currently happening in the world around us, Video games enabled us to visit far away places filled with colorful, unique and intriguing characters that made those stressful moments just subside…even if for a mere moment of time.
SO This is why THIS stage of the Retro VGM Revival Hour has chosen the 3 most amazing tracks from the various games released in 2021 to get you excited for what’s to come.

Timeline of the Persona Franchise (1/5)
Here for Part 2
Here for Part 3
Here for Part 4
Here for Part 5
The following is a timeline that I use to figure out what's happening in which year in the Persona universe.
Some dates are estimations, but I never include them unless I find something conclusive.
The timeline is only to guide you to find a specific event quicker. Feel free to modify a copy of the timeline to suit your needs, whether its for fangames, fanfics or just plain curiosity. Spoiler alert for everything.
NOTE: The reason I used the 80s as the date Nakajima made his program is mostly due to it being the date that Digital Devil Story was published (taking into account the technology it would be shown). It ended up working perfectly for the timeline, so I let it be.
The reason the events of 1996 and 1999 look so cramped, its because Persona 1 and 2 don't provide dates beyond years, one thing happening after the other.
Should a timeline to clear a dungeon or palace appear in the game, I will put the last possible day to clear it as the day it was done.
