im uh. gonna explain a few things. mostly the stuff i dont want. people hounding me about. so. - hair grew out in the distortion. ended up. tying it back. using a fragment of the red chain. yeah i know. metal as fuck. im awesome. (Light hearted). - horns and gold. clasps? i guess. dont really know what they are. they're just welded solidly onto. my face and arms. but uh. they're left overs. from the time i got possessed by Giratina. for a bit. long story. remind me to tell it some time. - mottling was a result. of being in the distortion world. for over a year. i started to become. pretty much bio-luminescent. side effect of. surviving off plant life. that was never meant to be eaten. occasionally. i'd find food. that had slipped through cracks. but most of what i ate. was home grown distortion world goodness. it was fucking awful. - old team galactic outfit. was beyond fucked up when i left. so i kinda just. wore whatever i was lent. which included dork ass sweater-vests. and old hoodies. just kinda. started customising them after a while.

I want your opinion on something. Do you think it's better to try and the the cards of the character you like or skipping some to brench out? Like, say you're a fan of Leona. Should you try to get all of his bday card and stuff or stick to one and get other characters ssr?

personally, as much as I would like every single card...I gotta ration my keys, so I focus on my favorites!

which isn't to say that I only pull for certain characters no matter what! more that I take a good long look at every card that comes out and go "do I really want this one? like...really really want it?" (the answer is usually yes, but -- look, the art in this game is very pretty, okay)

honestly, from a gameplay standpoint, I think it doesn't matter too much whether you focus on pulling for specific characters or not. there are very, very few points where actually having a good mix of characters is important (Those Two Stages in episode 6, where I think you can use retry tickets for the easy mode? and also guest room battles if you care about those) and you'll probably end up with at least one halfway decent card per character just from doing 10-pulls and events. so even if you're only pulling for Leona cards, you'll still end up getting a bajillion other characters as well. follow your heart! chase that grumpy lion bliss! ✨🦁✨

I was going to draw the crown too but decided I don't hate myself that much(maybe some other day), and gave him a golden laurel crown, bcs I'm obsessed with that as a motif, and also its very remincient of the boy king statue that started this whole thing!

There's some symbolism of this, both intentionally but also just historically. I love that the orb represents that the monarch is holding the world in their hand, basically every old monarchy has one of those, and I think it's very cool for symbolism. But also bcs of that, I was forced to basically draw catholic fanart so, you win some you lose some. The star halo above him head is both to reference those religious statues with star crowns(I saw them a lot in Europe and they imprinted onto my brain), as well as: his four championships of course!

just think even if one isn't a big fan of dt's doctor, i can't imagine not being happy for him for his journey with the show. he's just a very nice man/good actor who loves this story so much and puts his all into it every time he's on it. he runs around the tardis and presses buttons and reminisces about watching the show as a kid and getting the role on the show as an adult and being on the show and returning to the show again. it's really lovely seeing someone who's a big nerd getting to do that professionally really well with something that they're so passionate about, youknow. he's living the dream, and it happened to someone who's clearly very sweet and intelligent and kind. I also think dt being such a defining feature of nu!who was very lucky, as no matter how out of control it occasionally spiralled there was a core ideal to it that came from especially his portrayal and open excitement about its existence. not to say that the other doctor actors didn't/don't care or weren't able to expand into new areas (big fan especially of eccleston talking about feminism in the show and capaldi pointing to death as theme and ncuti discussing the doctor as refugee and black), but dt was there from almost the beginning and has cheered on everyone since. it's not a perfect show, but it is a very passionate show, and nobody is quite as passionate about it in quite the same way as dt, and that carries through. heck, that's what brought me back for the specials and led me to rewatch the whole thing these last few months. every time i think about dt i just think "aw, it's so nice that a fellow nerd got to have so much fun" and I'm enjoying watching someone have that fun

After reading the tags on your latest post I was wondering if it would be possible for you to make a brief overview of the iffy tropes/details your sensitivity reader helped you pick up on? Of course it wouldn't replace doing research ourselves, but I'd love to hear about it regardless!

Have not run it by them yet because it is in no fit state for human consumption at this point; the tropes are just from reading their blog + others on Tumblr + general Internet research including the excellent "blind people walk you through normal activities from their perspective" videos on YouTube. But off the top of my head:

Face touching. Where the blind person gropes someone's face to see? Sighted people made that up. I rewrote a chapter in Towards the Sun when I realized that one. Which makes sense, because why would a blind person be any more inclined to run their hands all up in your facial juices. Eww.

Negating blindness with magic and pretty much ignoring the blindness henceforth. Which is why Zuko isn't going to learn to see with firebending. There are very interesting discussions on how Toph herself fits and doesn't fit into this trope; finding them is left as an exercise for the reader.

Token blind character, AKA only having one blind person in the narrative who represents All Blind People. Going to have a few blind NPCs running around, with various levels of sight and accommodations, to thoroughly negate this one.

Being Depressed and/or Overly Inspirational about the blindness. AKA character devotes a large chunk of the story to bemoaning their blindness, with bonus inspirational "overcoming" at the end. Think about how it would feel if the majority of characters like you spent vast word counts hating the thing that makes them like you. And then solving it, in a way you can't, so they don't have to have the tragic fate of Being Like You. ...So Zuko is not getting cured, and he's also not wasting much time wallowing in an angst puddle.

Etc.

Basically, I want this to be a story that low vision folks can read and go "that was fun and less offensive than 70% of actual media representations", and sighted people can go "that was fun and hopefully I internalized some positive things that will make me less likely to grab a blind person's arm and forcibly Help Them Cross The Road, Try To Pet Their Dog (and Get Huffy When Asked to Please Not), or Call People Out On Not Being Blind Because They Don't Fit The Stereotypes".

#I am never going to claim to be an expert on this topic #but I'm pretty sure I can do it better than 70% of writers actually getting paid to write a blind character #which says less about my research skills and more about how media favors sighted-friendly interpretations of blindness #worst story I've come across is the blind actor who didn't get a role playing a blind person #because they came off as too competent at navigating the set #surely no sighted person would believe that this actor was actually blind! #...yep #avatar the last airbender #atla #blind Zuko #no specification necessary Toph #actual low vision folks please feel free to correct anything in this post #or my stories in general #it was reader feedback that got me to fix that Towards the Sun chapter #and it is a far better chapter for it
