Have u watched the cooking extra with the live actors ? 🥺 cue katsuki cuteness time...
I love (and cringe at) the played-up-even-more-with-real-people-beyond-what-the-cartoon-ever-did-overtly-without-other-prompting nature of Katsuki’s fixation on Izuku and I LOVE how he is SO upset at Ochako’s observations and input.
Way of the Househusband Kacchan-Tacchan AU…
And most of all I love the “I’m gonna try to be a punk about even this!” big-eyed “you can eat it” he gives Ochako as he slinks off to lick his wounds and think about how he made a fool of himself about this. This actor is really doing his best cartoon shitty punk for Katsuki and it’s incredible! It’s the kind of cringe that warms my heart. He’s truly giving it his all, and of course Ochako is a delight, too!

Falling Part Five | Jeon Jungkook
Tumblr media
Summary: Jae tells Lana about the party but you get nervous, not knowing what his intentions with her might be... Pairing: Guardian Angel f!reader x Fallen Angel Jungkook Word Count: 1.5k (sorry I know it's short and horribly edited) a/n: Hey guys so I know I haven't updated this story in months and a few of you have been asking for it so I'm sorry about that. I know this is short but I wanted to put something out for you guys. I'm still stuck on figuring out what's going to happen at the party so that's why this is still a little short but hopefully I'll figure it out and post it soon! Thanks for waiting 💜 Start from the beginning
"Jimin I don't know what to do" I whine, dragging out the last word, "I've been able to avoid the headache of her going to any high school parties but of course when this tall, mysterious, intelligent guy and his friends come around she suddenly decides to go" I complain to him.
"I mean to be honest I don't blame her. They seem like they're fun and Jae is charming and to be honest out of the lot he's definitely a lot more her speed. I feel like that's why they work so well together" he responds, trying to get me to calm down a bit which helps but I still don't know how I'm going to help her.
"Maybe you're right. He does seem like a really nice guy and he hasn't done anything wrong. I think just the fact that this is the first guy she's actually shown interest in is making me a bit more nervous" I admit, plopping down on Lana's bed while she continues to study.
They've known each other for a few weeks and he hasn't shown any signs of really wanting to lead her astray so that's promising. At this point though I don't really know what he does when he's around Jungkook which stresses me out at the very least knowing that Jae has messed up enough to trade his guardian angel for a fallen one.
"Just keep a close watch and maybe then he'll show his true colors. Lana sounds like a smart girl and you'll be materializing in a few weeks right?" Jimin reminds me. "That's only if she doesn't start to stray and I'm afraid that if she goes to this party that it'll be the beginning of the end for us" I voice, letting all of my worries and doubts out.
"Just keep praying that she'll stay strong and that she'll focus on staying on the straight and narrow" he say, making it sound easy. "I wish it was that simple" I mumble, turning my head to look at her while she picks up her phone to no doubt, text Jae back from the looks of it.
"You've been with her since she was conceived and you know her better than anyone. Just put your faith in her and I'm sure you'll make it to materialization. You've done a great job watching over her so, don't doubt yourself" he encourages.
"I'm sorry but I have to get going now. Let me know how everything turns out alright?" he say before ending the call. "Yes don't worry I will" I reassure him and say our goodbye right as Lana's phone starts to ring.
"Hey!" she greets excitedly, instantly letting me know who it is without even trying, accompanied by the feeling of butterflies in her stomach.
"I miss you" he says and I instantly gag while she has the polar opposite reaction watching as her cheeks start to warm up. "I miss you too" she says softly. "I wanted to tell you the details of the party tomorrow and also I just wanted to hear your voice" he admits.
'Could he be any cheesier?' of course Lana is eating it up though. Chances are he's gonna be her first love so I guess I'll just have to get used to this lovey dovey behavior from them. I drown their conversation out, still listening in but only enough to sense if something bad will happen but it's pretty innocent at this point thank God.
Thinking about all this love stuff is taking me back to when I was young and falling in love with Jungkook...
Eons ago...
"Go talk to her" Jimin says, elbowing Jungkook in the side and he groans at the contact still with his eyes fully trained on me.
"She's probably already with someone else" he says, making excuses and tries to walk away but his friend grabs him by his shoulders and turns him around, making him face me again
"She doesn't have a bracelet yet" he points out, looking at my wrists, neither of them adorned with and sort of jewelry. "Just go talk to her" Jimin repeats, pushing on his shoulder and making him stumble, grabbing my attention.
Jungkook and I make eye contact for a second and he smiles bashfully and I return it before going back to my conversation with a few other female angels.
"Look he's coming over here!" one of them says once I've turned back towards the group giving the handsome angle my back making me straighten out my wings from their slouched position into a more graceful one.
"He's probably looking at one of you guys" I say in a hushed tone, all of them having clocked the way he was looking at me, leaving me feeling insecure and pushing away the thoughts that someone as handsome as him would be interested in a lowly angel like myself.
I hear a man clear his throat behind me and my body goes rigid praying it's not who I think it is having truly thought my friends had been teasing me.
They all make eyes at me, wordlessly telling me to turn around but when I don't he chances speaking to me to get my attention.
"Hello" is all he says and the smooth baritone of his voice is more heavenly than any other melody I'd ever heard. "Hi, um we've actually gotta go" one of older angels says and pushes the other girls to the side, herding them over somewhere else and my protests die in my throat once he tries his luck again.
"I haven't seen you around here before" he says and at that I turn around to face him. My breath is taken away from seeing him up close, his features working in perfect harmony.
"Um yeah I'm one of the new borns, I guess" I say, still unsure of how everything works around here, referring to my recently aged up status. "Oh, well it's very nice to meet you..." he trails off waiting for me to fill in the blank. "Y/n!" I say quickly, embarrassed to have left a longer gap between his question and my answer.
"That's a beautiful name" he says, testing how my name sounds on his lips. I swear I never want anyone to address me by my name ever again unless it's by him or God. "Oh and you are?" I question, forgetting to return his interest.
"Jungkook" he says, a name that I had never heard before but pray would be one I would utter again and again. "It's nice to meet you Jungkook" and I can see how his eyes light up and his wings slightly raise behind him, obviously happy to have heard his name from my lips as well.
And from that moment onwards we started falling. Madly, deeply and hopelessly in love. That is, until he fell...
"JK said the party starts around 8 so I can pick you up around that time if you'd like" I hear Jae's voice say through the speaker. "Oh okay, yeah that works!" Lana says but she sounds a bit wary.
"What's wrong?" Jae asks, clocking her change in demeanor. "It's just that my curfew is 10 so I wont be able to stay for very long and because you're the one JK's throwing the party for I wouldn't want you to have to deal with leaving early to take me home or anything" she says and he nods his head, thinking for a second.
"What about this. Why don't we just go and hang out there for like an hour and then we'll leave and spend the rest of that time together on our own before your curfew" he suggests and she lights up at the idea. "I'd like that" she smiles shyly, a fluttery feeling in her stomach again, no doubt from the thought of spending true alone time with him for the first time.
"You sure you want to miss out on the party?" Lana questions, starting to feel guilty about it all. "The party is gonna go on all night so if I feel up to it I can always go back later on. You're the only one I really want to spend time with" he admits and again I can't help but roll my eyes.
At least he's honest though but I really hope this night ends with a simple goodnight kiss. 'Please Jae for the love of God don't pressure Lana into losing her innocence' I offer as a silent plea.
Lana is someone I've been entrusted to and I will do everything in my power to make sure that she stays safe. One boy is not gonna ruin this for her, she's stronger than this and I know that. I just need to keep reminding myself and stop doubting her.
I've gotta put my faith in her just like Jimin said, and pray to God Jae's intentions are pure. Please Jungkook, don't encourage him to do this, I know it's your sole purpose to lead him astray, but please, not Lana...

Cold Comfort: Part One
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~2.3k
Summary: You meet another psychic on a case that doesn’t want to work with you, and everyone’s faith is tested on exactly what you can do.
Warnings: canon violence, canon language, canon talk of death, methods of kill
Author’s Note: I do not own anything from Criminal Minds. All credit goes to their respective owners. If there are any warnings that exceed the normal death/kills from the show, I will list them. If you’ve seen the show, then it’s the same level of angst unless otherwise stated

"And so, all the night-tide, I lay down by the side. Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride. In the sepulchre there by the sea. In her tomb by the sounding sea." - Edgar Allan Poe
This morning is one of the milder ones since there isn't a need for a case right now. You and Spencer just got in and joined Penelope, Emily, Kevin, and Derek in the small break room by your desks. Penelope has a newspaper in her hands with a page about horoscopes and zodiac signs.
Spencer is a Scorpio and you're an Aries since your birthday is in April. It's coming up but you're not sure what you want to do yet. Spencer will no doubt plan the perfect evening, so you're not too worried right now. Plus, you've read that Scorpios and Aries are compatible.
"Current influences should turn this day into one with plenty of potential, but avoid the trap of trying too hard. Know your strengths. Rely on them. Confidence, real or pretend, is your magic ingredient," Penelope reads Kevin's current horoscope.
"Confidence. Yes, I like that."
"Ooh, do mine," you grin and bounce over to them.
"When's your birthday?"
"Early April. I'm an Aries."
"Ah, here it is. You prefer to think that if someone hasn't noticed your superior charm, and isn't already thinking about proposing to you, then they aren't worth the effort. Now suddenly, it's you who wants to do the chasing and will really enjoy the feeling of being in pursuit."
"You hear that, Spencer? Better get your running shoes on because I'm going to chase you."
"One of the most compatible signs for Aries is Scorpio."
"It's like you're my soulmate," you joke with Spencer.
"Come on, guys, you don't really think there's actually anything to that stuff, do you?" Derek asks.
"You'd be surprised.
"It's gibberish," Emily has Derek's back.
"Thank you."
"Oh, you are just jealous because you don't have the magic ingredient.
"I have the magic ingredient. It's called Splenda," Emily grins and sips her coffee.
"Alright, skeptic, what's your sign?"
"No."
"No? Is that in May? Reid, we need a DOB on Prentiss."
"7:12 a.m., October 12th, 19--"
"Hey!" Emily cuts him off before he can say her birth year.
"Libra, I should have known," Penelope giggles. "A romantic opportunity may experience a slight hitch thanks to the pesky lunar influence, which could have you dipping into a rather chilly mood. If being demonstrative and warm is difficult, then neutralize this temporary cold front with a simple but affectionate gesture."
"I have a simple gesture."
Emily flips everyone off, and you laugh at her antics.
"Are you guys ready to gather?"
You turn to see JJ standing there with her hair cut short and looking amazing as ever. Jordan went back to counter-terrorism, allowing JJ to take her spot back.
"Well, look at you, miss thing. First day back and you're all business," Derek chuckles.
"Well, it's either diving right in or confronting my separation anxiety."
"It's tough being away from him, huh?"
"Yeah." You look down and notice a ring on her finger that's gold and sparkly. She notices you staring and holds it up for everyone to see. "It's Citrine, Henry's birthstone. Will and I both got one."
"That's so sweet," Pen gasps.
Penelope heads to her office while the rest of you head to the briefing room to get the meeting started. Right before JJ can enter, you pull her off to the side for a quick chat.
"Listen, Spencer and I were talking and if you and Will ever need a break to catch up with life or just to relax, we're more than happy to take care of Henry."
"I might take you up on that offer," she smiles. You two walk in; you take a seat next to Spencer and she takes her spot at the front. She puts pictures of a woman who is clearly dead onto the screen. "There's been a string of abductions in Olympia, Washington going back nine months. The four women are blond, blue-eyed, and in their early twenties. This morning they found one."
"When were they taken?"
"Nine months ago."
"Was she the first?"
"Yeah."
"She looks almost mummified."
"Not quite. She's embalmed. The time of death is a bit of a question mark right now."
"Where did they find her?" Rossi asks JJ.
"In a state park just east of Olympia. The body was jarred loose during a mudslide. That, plus the abnormal decomposition makes it difficult to know how long she was there."
"It says the victims were abducted about three months apart. He's rotating his victims out. There are gonna be more bodies out there. Wheels up in thirty."
Everyone is given thirty minutes to get their things and head to the private plane, but everyone makes it there in twenty.
"So, if I wanted to embalm a body, what's the process?" Emily asks once you're in the air.
"The blood is drained through the jugular vein and replaced with embalming fluid through one of the two major arteries. It usually takes a few hours," you explain. "You'd need special equipment and training for something like this. Knowledge of the human vascular system would also be a plus."
"Maybe it's a doctor," JJ suggests, "nurse, or a technician who has a background in mortuary sciences."
"Now, there's a major they didn't offer at my school."
"Personally, the whole thing just seems weird to me. Embalming, I mean," Emily says.
"Some people like to look good for their funeral."
"It's not them, though. It's a shell that's been polished and painted. I just want to be cremated."
"The question is why somebody would embalm the body of someone they just murdered. He wants to hold on to them. It's a possession issue. This way they can never leave. Maybe fear of abandonment speaks to his history."
"Eventually, even an embalmed body will decay. Eventually, he'll find himself in need of new victims."
"That explains the abduction cycle--a new victim every three months, which means at least two of the remaining women are already dead."
"What about the third?"
"Her name is Brooke Lombardini. It's been four days since she disappeared following her shift at a local restaurant. We know the odds."
"Ninety percent of all abduction victims are killed within the first thirty-six hours," you sigh.
When the plane landed, you headed to the dump site where they found the first victim along with Derek and Spencer. The rest of them went to the police station to get set up. Detective Ron Fullwood is already on the scene when you arrive. Tracking someone outside is harder than inside because the elements can mess up energies to the point you might not even see them. If the three other victims are out there somewhere, you have to try your hardest to track them down.
"A hiker found a foot protruding from the soil right up here. The whole side of the hill slid down from up there," Ron says.
"You're focusing the search in this area?"
"Yeah, but if he dumped other bodies here, he's got over eight hundred acres to work with."
"Keep your men near the fire road, Detective," Spencer suggests. "One man dragging a body through the woods with a hundred and ten pounds of dead weight isn't gonna get far from the path. That's why a lot of killers dismember their victims. They're easier to dispose of that way."
"You think it says something about the profile? That he didn't chop her up?"
"Possibly, yeah."
You look around the area and focus your concentration on bringing the energy of the dead alive. You walk away from the spot where the first victim was found and stop about twenty feet from it. There is something on the ground reflecting off the light from the sun. With your pen, you pick the item up so you don't touch it and contaminate the evidence.
It's a gold cross necklace. Whoever owns this is nearby, you can feel her.
Through the treelines where the sun shines through, is a mess of energy that can be missed if you weren't already looking for it. You walk over to the area and the energy wisps away as if it's leading you somewhere. The more you follow it, the more it moves until you get to the spot it's taking you to.
"Where are you going?" Spencer asks.
This isn't the energy of the first victim found, it's a new one entirely.
"Someone is buried here! You need to dig over here!" you call out. Everyone gathers around the spot you directed them to and begins to dig. It doesn't take long before a hand protrudes from the ground. Everyone stares at you as if you had something to do with the murder. "I swear I didn't have any knowledge about this victim."
The energy wisps away from the burial site over to three trees and takes the form of the victim. She smiles sadly at you before misting away knowing that she is found and can find her own peace.
"The answer to your question, Detective, is yes, this killer can't dismember these women. He cares for them."
You let local police and crime scene investigators do their job while you, Derek, and Spencer head back to the police station. The mom of the recent victim, Brooke, is begging for the police's help with the hope that she is still alive somewhere. She already has someone on her side helping her, someone named Stanley Usher.
He's a psychic like you. You've met your fair share of psychics, but never anyone as strong as you are. Some only can infer emotions, some of them connect with people's personalities and make lucky guesses, but you've never met anyone who can do exactly what you can do.
When you find out about Stanley, everyone's eyes are on you.
"What? I'm not the only psychic on the planet. I've met my fair share of psychics--not good ones, but psychics nonetheless. Most of them were frauds who only wanted people's money."
"Exactly," Rossi backs you up. "Hope is one thing. False hope is something else."
"I know you thought that about me when we first met, but I'd like to hope you have faith in me now."
"You get lucky," he shrugs playfully.
"I guess you've worked with psychics before?" Derek asks. "You know, prior to Y/N."
"Not by choice."
"There are cases where people believe they've helped. Y/N has helped so much for this team," JJ backs you up.
"She's the real deal. She's proven to me she can actually help. Others don't. When people are vulnerable, they'll believe a lot of things."
If you're going to work this case, you have to know exactly who you're dealing with. You have to meet Stanley to know if he's going to help or if he's like the frauds you've come across. Rossi wants you to be there with JJ, so you three head over there as soon as possible to meet with Sandra, Brooke's mom, and Stanley.
Stanley is standing in the kitchen off to the side. He doesn't seem to notice you or feel your presence, but you definitely feel his. Despite him being a psychic, you can read him like an open book. His reputation has suffered a lot during his life. He has some abilities he can rely on, but not as strong as you can. He was once called a fraud but you don't know how true that is.
"We think the man who took her may have come by her work. A customer or someone she may have talked about," JJ says to Sandra.
"We think this man is a loner. He would dine by himself and make frequent visits, but he's shy and avoids eye contact."
"She got asked out sometimes."
"No, this man wouldn't have asked her out. He wouldn't have had the courage. He would have stared at her and made her uncomfortable."
"I've told the police everything I know. You shouldn't be here. You should be looking into the clues," Sandra urges and pushes a necklace toward JJ that belonged to Brooke.
"Right, like clues from Brooke's necklace?" you ask.
"Yes, ma'am. It's called token object reading or psychometry."
"I know what it's called."
"See, a person's energy makes an impression on everything they touch. It allows me to connect with them. The hard part is interpreting what I'm given. I know she felt weakened, tired, and heavy."
"Can I talk to you for a second?" Rossi asks Stanley. Both you and Rossi go off to the side with Stanely to speak to him privately. "I've been around a little, and I've seen guys like you come into the lives of grieving families."
"Sir, I assure you, that's not what--"
"Listen to me, the last thing this woman needs is some con man giving her unrealistic ideas."
"With all due respect, sir, you may not know what she needs. Your job is to know the perpetrators."
"We're not talking about my job."
"Maybe we should be because there are a lot of people out there who don't believe in what you do, either."
"The only person I trust to do this is her," Rossi gestures to you.
"What do you mean?"
"I'm an empathic psychic."
Just like that, Stanley's demeanor changes at your words. It's like he hates you or something because all you feel from him is disgust and hatred.
"I'm sorry, but I can't work with her. You can either work with me or her, but not both," he says to Rossi.
"No offense to you, but I choose her."
They have some talking to do, so you leave their side and join JJ and Sandra in the kitchen. JJ gets up to answer her ringing phone, and you take her seat so you're sitting across from Sandra.
"Hi, Sandra. My name is Y/N. I'm an empathic psychic and a very good one at that. Stanley refuses to work with me, but it's your decision on who you want on this case. I have credibility and I'd love to help you if that's what you want. I've caught a lot of killers and saved a lot of people. I just want you to think about who you want here."
JJ gets off the phone and looks at you and Rossi.
"I just got a call. They found a third body."

Hi! I’m very new to witchcraft (as in i’ve only been seriously looking into it in the last week or so new) and my family are strong christians. they are very against magick and related stuff bc they believe that its part of the devils realm and that people can get possessed and other things if they get involved in witchcraft. I’m not religious myself but growing up around that mindset has made me a bit paranoid about starting witchcraft. I’m not planning on working too much with spirits or the dead at all so I’m not at risk of being ’possessed’ or anything bad am i?
thank you! :D
Good news! Practicing witchcraft does not guarantee, invite, or increase your risk of possession of any kind. Also, if you don't wish to do spirit work, there's no rule that says you have to. And witchcraft, contrary to what some might tell you, is not in opposition to Christian belief, as evidenced by the numerous folk magic traditions that blend Christian prayer and Bible verses with spells and charms.
Furthermore, spells are not horrendously dangerous and explosive things likely to singe off your eyebrows and ruin your life if not performed EXACTLY right, with all the precise trappings of timing and components and procedure pertaining thereto. In reality, spells don't often work in an immediately noticeable fashion, and spells that fail tend to fizzle into nothing rather than blowing up in your face. Yes, even the baneful ones.
One lesson that I like to teach to newer witches is that the spirit world, and indeed the universe at large, is not waiting to pounce on our mistakes and enact horrific consequences. There is no army of malicious imps waiting for you to say or do just the wrong thing so that they can rush in to steal the baby and put a glam rock Goblin King in your window to do some spooky-ooky contact juggling.
Learning magical protection methods is a first step that many witches recommend, but it's not because witchcraft is inherently dangerous. It's more because the techniques used in protection magic (i.e. visualization, grounding & centering, learning to harness your own energy, attaching spells to objects, etc) make excellent building blocks for a basic understanding of magical mechanics. Not to mention that the first thing you should learn with any new hobby or activity is how to do it safely.
This idea of looming danger is a product of leftover guilt and "sin" complexes from the faith systems that many of us were raised with, as well as plenty of scare tactics employed by conservative media over the years that have filtered into popular culture. This last should come as little surprise, considering the number of tv shows and movies where anything related to witchcraft immediately defaults to the demonic and results in problems that only Christian belief and ritual can cure.
The world of witchcraft is peopled with...well, people. Most of us spend our time dealing with everyday life, trying to find time for research and hobbies (and sleep), and swearing luridly when we discover we've missed the full moon AGAIN and just when we had a lovely jar of water to put out for charging. Witches are a colorful and widely varied lot and there are as many ways to be a witch as there are witches in the world.
And to the best of my knowledge, the only practice that is likely to get you haunted or possessed is quite literally calling spirits and demons to haunt or possess you. And even then, it's not a guarantee.
So forge on bravely and fear not! And may I suggest checking out Episodes 4 and 12 of my podcast Hex Positive. These deal with advice for beginner witches and tips for practicing in stealth mode.
Hope this helps!

I was just rereading Insomniacs Anonymous (which, good stuff 👍👍) and I was just wondering if you've seen Miraculous season 5 yet? And if so, thoughts?
Why thank you~ ✨
And yes! I have seen Miraculous Season 5. You might notice in one of the A/Ns in Insomniacs Anonymous I say that the story won't be following Season 5. Mainly because the story starts somewhere in Season 4 and diverges from canon from there, you know how that goes.
As for Season 5... I think this season made me realize that this genre is not meant for me. Yes, it's superhero media (and I love superhero media; I still need to catch up on Invincible before they release the rest of Season 2), but the genre itself is very different. Like how Captain America: Winter Soldier is action (you could even make an argument that it has aspects of the thriller genre), while She-Hulk is comedy. They're both superhero mediums, but the content and storytelling are completely different.
In general, I have a very complicated relationship with Miraculous Ladybug. I don't read fanfiction for it anymore, and I dropped a lot of the MLB blogs I used to follow.
A lot of my problems aren't even from Season 5 but comes from the show altogether. The characterizations are very inconsistent, and the writers often ignore their own worldbuilding. They'll create hard rules and then backtrack.
I'm not a huge fan of how Thomas Astruc handles the show and some of the characters. Keep in mind, this is the same man that once said Jesus Christ used a Miraculous, before he rescinded the statement when he realizes oh fuck this is a bad idea.
I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that there is so much potential, but at the end of the day, this isn't the genre for it. Their focus is on something else, so I can't judge it based on what genre I want it to be.
It's also a little disappointing because there are so many other cartoons that are limited by their ratings as well but they can do so much more with it. Like, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is rated PG. That movie had depth and character growth and never once lost its charm and humor.
But I know there are those that really enjoy it, and honestly? It makes me really happy. Buggachat has some amazing art; her Bakery "Enemies" AU is an incredible display of love for the show. She also has some great analysis posts about the series, and Season 5, that I would recommend. There was a post she made about the Season 5 finale that made me appreciate it more. There's also frostedpuffs who makes beautiful pieces of art and fanfiction.
I'm never going to criticize anyone that enjoys it. I know what it's like to be interested in a piece of media that gets a lot of contention and discourse. With the rise in popularity with DPxDC, I've seen a lot of posts that gave bad faith interpretations of Danny Phantom because they didn't try to look into the show beyond the tropes they saw and disliked. Hell, just yesterday I saw the most rancid take on a beloved character that had absolutely no depth or nuance.
There are so many times when I'll see these posts and just know they've got it all wrong. Because they don't love the show. Sometimes they know the show, but they don't love it. You know what they say about authors and directors and creators who get their hands on a character they hate- they ruin them. Because they don't love them.
I don't love Miraculous Ladybug. There are parts about the show that I wasn't fond of, and then I'll see analysis posts about how the episode fits into the series as a whole, and you know what: they make sense. I couldn't have thought about it that way, because I simply don't love the show like they do. And I don't have to.
I don't think I'll watch Season 6 when it comes out. I was morbidly curious about Season 5 after the Season 4 finale, but knowing that the studio is hoping to produce 8 season total, I don't think I can commit to that. The show just isn't for me, and it's time I accept that and move on.
I'll still play in my little corner of the playground, but I think otherwise I'll just stand aside and let everyone else play with their toys how they want to.

Hi! If you're still doing the ask pairing thingy, here's my submission! This is kind of a lot of stuff, so a quick apology for the Sheer Volume of Said Stuff, and let's get into it!
Do you love gargantuan Youtube video essays, and if so, which is your favorite and why?
Channeling the Idiotic Nerd Energy here, but hear me out:
Mathy video essays are my lifeblood. What can I say, rat brain craves sustenance. These are two of my favorites.
This is an hour-long essay on the continuity of splines, and Holy Shit. It tickles the few braincells I have left in the most wonderful ways... (Cool stuff!!)
https://youtu.be/jvPPXbo87ds
This one's a little shorter, but it explores the basis and applications of a different number system than the reals, known as "p-adic numbers." (Also cool stuff!!) Scratches the brain cell SO GOOD.
https://youtu.be/3gyHKCDq1YA
What song are you fixated on at the moment? What lyric or verse, and why?
И ты пытаешься снова дать очень дельный совет мне/Но я бы твоему рту предложил лучше скотч.
(Trans. You're trying again to give me such wise advice, but I'd offer that your mouth is better suited for scotch.)
The above lyrics are from 19 by ssshhhiiittt! (Fantastic song, though a little depressing). My russian is limited, but I Love this Song. This lyric, along with the rest of the verse, stands out to me because it captures the feeling of needing to change in some way, but nobody is giving that advice that you need; the advice that is pertinent.
Re: the Bois
As for the Bois™, I was never able to vibe with Asher or David (at least, not in a romantic sense.) Nothing against them, just not that into them. Platonically, I would forcibly befriend Lasko for nothing but "nefarious" reasons (DnD and hyperfixation talk).
Re: Eepy Talky Subjects
I get eepy and talk about either fountain pens or pretty dice. They bring so much joy to the rat brain. I could talk about fountain pen inks and bodies and makes and models until the universe dies, probably don't quote me on that though.
Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to.
I could probably recite most of Fantasy High or The Unsleeping City (both season 1) off memory. They're both part of Dimension 20, a live-play DnD show hosted on Dropout, and just, *chef's kiss*. Brennan Lee Mulligan (the GM) is a goddamned national treasure.
Other stuffs
Other than this, I'm just. A Guy. I'm studying to be a math teacher and I'm a type 5 on the Enneagram. I can tend to be a nervous wreck, and I also have Extreme Cool Guy Syndrome (my doctor says it's called ADHD.) So, ye! Have fun deciphering this trainwreck of an ask!!
Tumblr media
Oh, we abso-fucking-lutely stan a couple in STEM. The nervous math teacher and the soft-spoken technician- you and Anton would be a great pair.
Type Five’s are characterized as inquisitive, innovative, and intellectual; it can be so fun to pair Fives with together because you’ll learn so much from each other and it’ll be flirting! Maybe even do the flirting in Russian, because that definitely was a factor in my complex, matchmaking algorithm.
Anton seems like the type who would love to listen and absorb, to pass the minutes hearing about the hyperfixation of the moment. Your students, math, dice sets- I don’t believe this man’s ever played a single session of a TTRPG in his life, but he’d try just because of the way your face lights up when you talk about it.
Song:
So, please, you must have faith in me/ There's no place, I'd rather be than home with you/ Where all is safe and warm/ But now I need to fight this storm
I’ve obviously got to plug my favorite Russian-singing boy. What can I say? Rybak is a dreamboat, and 5 to 7 can work really well for Anton missing you while he’s sequestered away at ETS. (Ignore the sad bit. Don’t listen to the third verse, or do! Maybe you’re an angst with a happy ending kind of babe.)
Runner-Ups:
Gavin, I like for you because I think he would be immensely charmed by the ADHD, nerd energy. Like with Lasko, there’d be so many teaching double entendres. Guy, I also like because he strikes me as a TTRPG kind of guy. He’d love actual play podcasts and series, and his chaotic energy would be great for improv if he actually played.
Note: oh my love you don’t need to tell me who Brennan Lee Mulligan is I worship and serve at the altar of Adventuring Academy 💌
Want a match-up of your own? Read this post, and tell me about yourself! 💌

Reading Recap 2023
Did one of these last year for 2022 and decided to do one again this year for 2023.
These are the published (including self-published) books that 1) I added to my library within the last year, that 2) were new to me, and 3) actually got read cover to cover at some point in 2023. It works out to 60 books, three times as many books as last year (granted some of these are short stories, not even novellas or novels - but then a few are anthologies so it sort of balances out).
(Yes, I do read a ridiculous amount, considering this is only the tip of the iceberg of what I've actually read over the last year.)
Ended up finding a lot of older stuff on good sales, and also fell into reading some fantasy romances and a few YA things as well. Sadly there are some reputedly quite excellent books that I bought this year that I either never got around to reading, or started in on and then got distracted by something I wanted to read more, and never got back around to, so there's a pile of stuff that'll never manage to show up on one of these posts.
Books and/or series I particularly enjoyed, in no particular order:
Bookshops & Bonedust, Travis Baldree - great to have a prequel for Legends & Lattes, really good story.
A Charm of Magpies series of series, K.J. Charles - interesting historical queer magic-as-technology romances.
Defiance, the start of the latest (and probably last) trilogy in the Foreigner series of series by C.J. Cherryh (Book #22!!! And yes I re-read the other 21 before diving into this latest addition). So glad she kicked cancer's ass and is still writing; I am on tenterhooks for the next two books, waiting to see if my main guess about what this last story arc will focus around will be right.
Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman - how have I gone this many years without actually reading this one!? Awesome idea, told with his usual (very high) skill.
Elven Alliance series, Tara Grayce, saw it mentioned here on Tumblr on a post wishing for stories where the Princess leans into the arranged marriage rather than revolting against it. Got curious, bought the first book and then just kept buying until I ran out of books.
Princess Floralinda and the Forty Flight Tower, Tamsyn Muir - think this was another one that was mentioned in the notes on the same thread as previous, or possibly in a similar one about female characters who win through traditional female skills rather than by being badasses who insisted on learning male ones. It's mostly a self-rescuing Princess trope in this one.
Thornhedge and A Paladin's Faith, T. Kingfisher. Of course I love both of them. I hope she also kick's cancer's ass and continues writing for some time to come.
The Master of Samar, Melissa Scott - have loved her books for decades, but there's a big gap in my collection from the years when I could only rarely afford new books. This is one of the books I missed reading, and one of her very rare forays into fantasy rather than science fiction (and it's an entertaining read).
The Sea King trilogy, Nancy Springer - another old favourite with books I missed getting when they were new. Interesting story. Made me think a little of the Epic of Gilgamesh, at least in terms of having a king and someone seen as more barbarous in nature as his best friend.
Warhorse and The Dragonback series, Timothy Zahn - author I never got around to trying back in the day, noticed a bunch of his stuff on sale, bought one to try, liked it, have bought more.
The King's Eight, Argon Masters - one of a number of books I read this year that is a published work by a fanfiction author whose works I enjoy. Was reading some of their not-my-fandom works (which yes I sometimes do when I enjoy an author enough - see also "how to trip and fall into new fandoms you have zero knowledge of"). Saw a casual mention of the book in an author's note, wandered off to grab and read it. Have already read it twice, it's excellent. Hope they publish more.
Also oh DAMN I just realized I didn't include the covers for Katherine Addision's Doctrine of Labyrinths series in the image above, I read and enjoyed those as well. Make that 64 books that met my criteria.
Edited to add: And doh, one of the covers for the Desert World trilogy by Lyn Gala has also gone missing. Make that 65 books.

See, while others got traumatized by the movie, I actually grew up watching the tv series - it was my childhood. I didn’t even know there was a movie or book about it until I used the internet. The TV series will always hold a special place in my heart because I grew up with it, but the Netflix series is so far the best Watership Down adaptation out there and it didn’t deserve all the hate it got.
I know a lot of the complaints were that the rabbits all look alike, but like, yes? They’re wild rabbits? It’s kinda the point? And yes, that makes it hard to tell them apart first but…not really??? Because they all have different builds, fur, markings, etc. And even then, you can still tell them apart by voice. The voice actors do such an amazing job!
The Netflix one sticks a bit closer to the book, added stuff from the tv series while also adding its own touch to it and that’s what got me easily charmed by this series.
Before I start with that - I want to clarify I don’t hate the movie. Regardless if TV series, Netflix or movie, I think they are all wonderful in their own way and equally flawed.
But in the movie, there isn’t actually…not much going on. It feels rather flat to me, I don’t like the pacing. Like, I always preferred the tv series over it because there is just more to it. The movie doesn’t offer much for me and a lot of things appear to be written only for shock value. It doesn’t really have any memorable moments for me.
But the Netflix Series? The plot, the animation, the tv series references, the writing, the characters, the voice acting, Efrafa - everything is absolutely amazing here.
See, the thing is, I can actually take Efrafa seriously here. Because they actually carried over the oppression these rabbits face in Efrafa incredibly well. They did not hold back on it.
This warren is bad. It’s disgusting. It’s terrible. What’s the first thing we hear when we get introduced to this warren? Does screaming. Whimpering. Begging.
Our second introduction to this warren, thanks to Orchis?
Rabbits guarding the place. Already acting hostile. You can hear screams in the distance. All these guards keep a sharp eye on you. A doe gets pinned into the ground because she was talking. Another rabbit is looming over a doe. Vervain smacks a doe who escaped. Vervain pins Sainfoin to the ground because he wasn’t focused enough. Sainfoin thanks him for it. Does crying.
And many other things that go on there.
Nothing is over the top like it was in the movie. We actually have more time to get to know Efrafa. They kept the whole “you can have any doe you want” and “you can only take a shit when we tell you to” amd that is what made Efrafa so disturbing to me.
Even in the TV series it is not as seriously played. Which is understandable since it is a kids show.
But you can tell the power everyone has in that warren. You can tell how feared Woundwort actually is because everyone goes immediately quiet and stiff when he appears. You can tell, they would not dare to speak against him or act like Vervain or Campion in the tv series - because they would be dead already.
You can tell how much his Owsla holds the power over that warren. All without playing it off as over the top, savage killer rabbits like they did in the movie.
Everything just feels so much more believable.
As Holly would put it, you can see how they still have somewhat of their animality. Because at the end of the day, they are just rabbits following their orders from a tyrant. But they are still “people”. Vervain and Orchis who share a close bond. Orchis who got blinded by rage after his brother died. Sainfoin and Campion who ended up questioning their orders. The Owsla actually telling the old stories.
They just really managed to portray Efrafa so well.
My only complaints?
Bluebell. He was Owsla. What Holly heard, he experienced. The only reason why Holly survived this long was because he had his faithful jester by his side and it's a shame that every adaption leaves that out. His character was a mix of Pipkin and Dandelion. I don't mind him telling stories, he did it in the book to but turning him into this unexperienced, frightened rabbit when he used to be Owsla? I am not fond of that.
and Holly's and Hazel's death. Holly's was just there for shock value and with Hazel...I just think he should have died of old age, like in the book and movie.

Request: You said you love soft stuff too, so I have this soft idea with Shade + flower language: Shade gives a flower bouquet to reader but reader has almost no knowledge of flower language and Shade quickly realizes that, so he explains the meanings and reader is hit with a heartwarming realization that the bouquet is in a way a love letter. But if this request is a bit too much, anything with Shade + flower language would be wonderful 🥺💖

What had started out as a fling of sorts between you and Richard eventually turned into something else entirely. Hook ups in hidden corners became whole nights and mornings spent together, as well as actual dates. You weren't quite sure how it all happened, but you didn't want to question it. This thing that the two of you shared made you happier than you ever thought it could.
And if you weren't delighted enough when Richard arrived at your apartment that afternoon, the bouquet that he offered to you made you beam even brighter. "Oh wow, these are beautiful!" Taking the flowers from his hand, you paused a moment to enjoy their scent. "Thank you."
"You're very welcome, my darling." A smile played at his lips, and he couldn't help the thought that true beauty laid not in the flowers, but in the one that held them. An overly sweet observation, yes, but that made it no less true.
"Let me find a vase for these." You turned and Richard followed you to your kitchen, watching as you knelt down and looked in one of your cabinets.
As you prepared the water and carefully placed the bouquet inside of the vase you chose, Richard was reminded of the several other arrangements he'd presented to you. Though you seemed to hold the same affection for him that he did for you, you never responded in the way that he expected. In that moment, it dawned on him.
It had been so very long since he last courted someone that he never considered the fact that you might not have seen the message he meant to convey. How could you respond if you weren't even aware there was anything to respond to?
"Are you familiar with the language of flowers?" He asked, coming to stand next to you as you adjusted the blooms that had been disturbed.
"I've heard of it, but that's about it."
"Well, when I was a young man, it was considered improper to speak certain thoughts and feelings aloud. The popular alternative was using flowers and their specific meanings to make those feelings known. I suppose it's unnecessary now, but there's still a certain charm to it."
Suddenly, you found yourself very curious when you recalled the flowers he'd given to you in the past, in addition to the ones that sat in front of you at the moment. "So, what do these ones mean?"
"Ah, let's see..." Richard reached out to show you each flower as he explained. "The daisies are for affection and admiration...Violets, faithfulness...Camellia, desire...Lilies, devotion. And," he said, pointing out one of the bright red roses, "I'm sure you know what these mean."
Your heart skipped, and you whispered a soft "Love..." You had to smile at all of the meanings and the fact that he'd been saying these things for a while. If only you had seen it sooner.
Richard took your hand and smiled in return. "Love, yes."
Looking down at your hands then back at him, you knew exactly what you felt. "I don't know how people responded back then--Probably with more flowers--but nowadays, we just say: I love you, too."
As soon as the words left your lips, you laid your hand on his cheek and gave him a sweet kiss that only reinforced the sincerity in your confession, and you could feel his too. Without a doubt, your attraction had become something so much sweeter.

top five angel episodes 🔫🤭
oh you think you're being funny? you think you're being funny miles? well jokes on you angel is a good show sometimes and I can prove it! (sidenote I'm only a couple episodes into season 5 in my rewatch so that's why there's no season 5 episodes here)
Birthday - hehe it's that one episode that you watched and really liked, and you were RIGHT. obviously cordy is my favourite part of the show (pour one out season 5 is so sad for me) so I'm biased towards episodes that focus on her, but I also think this one is just genuinely really excellent. an amazing conclusion to the cordy's killer visions plotline that just does it in such a fun and engaging way with the whole "cordy gets to live out her dream life" plot point. also while it's not the most important part of the episode the baby connor era is (mostly) one of the favourite parts of the show and I enjoy that this episode has plenty of that
Are you now or have you ever been - haunted houses (hotels)... flashbacks bleeding into the present.... a mccarthy-era cold war setting... themes of paranoia and the potential for human cruelty.... gunn becoming a part of the angel investigations team... "this is a place of evil" "not anymore"... they actually made this one for me specifically they sat down in the year 2000 and said we need to write this episode specifically so a weird little guy called isabel who won't be born for a couple months will lose their fucking mind over it
The Pylea arc - cheating by combining like 3 episodes into one but I think the Pylea episodes specifically are connected enough for it to be understandable. not the most thematically deep or character focused of the show's episodes but it's just such good campy fun, man!!! getting to see the angel investigations team take part in this delightfully ridiculous high fantasy pastiche is so... it's just so fun!! and charming!!! and cordy gets declared princess of a hell dimension!! and lorne spends like a third of the arc as a literal talking head!! and we meet fred!!!! I love fred wish she didn't end up just getting reduced to love triangle fodder!!! it's just a really great time overall and honestly a much needed breather after how dark and angsty the rest of season 2 got
To Shanshu in LA - the episode that caused me to become Very Autistic about this show. angel investigations are a FAMILY and I LOVE THEM!!!! cordy buys angel art supplies bc she wants him to get a hobby bc she CARES ABOUT HIM. AND SHE TELLS HIM NOT TO FEEL EMBARRASSED ABOUT DRINKING BLOOD IN FRONT OF HIS FAMILY!!! it's fine i'm normal about it. also (surprising I'm sure from the guy behind the 9k pinocchio themed cordy and angel tax benefits marriage fic) I find the whole concept of the shanshu prophecy and angel's desire to become human again incredibly compelling, so this one really got the cogs in my brain turning
Orpheus - the fact that angel and faith friendship means enough to me that I'm willing to include a season 4 episode here really says it all. yes you do have to ignore everything with cordy and connor in this episode in order to enjoy it and I'm aware that that's a bit of a tall order, BUT faith and angel's little trip through the mindscape together is so good that for once I'm willing to let it slide! (though actually it does pain me to say this but the joke where fred asks the others if they think cordy and connor's relationship is a bit messed up and then it cuts to cordy (or fake cordy, rather) telling connor he needs to kill his dad did get a laugh out of me. i didn't want it to, but shoutout to mere smith for writing the one moment in this entire storyline that I kind of liked) BACK TO THE GOOD STUFF obviously faith's interactions with angel/angelus are excellent (like it's crazy how well the angelus stuff in season 4 suddenly starts working as soon as he's played off against faith SORRY I'M VEERING CLOSE TO JUST COMPLAINING ABOUT SEASON 4 AGAIN I PROMISE I REALLY DO LIKE ORPHEUS), faith making the choice to keep living and keep fighting to be better instead of accepting her death, the "I'm dying" "It's a lot easier than redemption, huh?" "I did my time" "Our time is never up, Faith" dialogue (GIRLS WHEN SHOW THESIS STATEMENTS) AUGHGGH. THEY MEAN SO MUCH TO ME. also willow's cameo is very fun and I enjoy watching her flirt with fred :)

I watched every* Northanger Abbey adaptation so you don't have to
*Does not include written, audio, or theatrical adaptations. Excludes works that are merely "inspired by" Northanger Abbey, but not actual adaptations. Also I didn't watch the Spanish TV movie, because I wouldn't be able to understand it anyway.
Northanger Abbey (1987) starring Katharine Schlesinger and Peter Firth
Reasonably faithful adaptation (if you don't count the soundtrack, which sometimes veers into very '80s territory with saxophone and...was that an electric guitar?)
While all the actors are decent enough, none of them have a smidge of chemistry with each other.
Props for showing bits of 19th-century life we don't normally see in such adaptations, e.g. sedan chairs and the actual public bath of Bath (which seems to be more-or-less historically accurate?)
Everything feels rushed and smushed together, which is ironic because it's actually a couple minutes longer than the 2007 movie, which doesn't suffer from the same problem.
Absolutely terrible casting. Peter Firth was nowhere near charming and witty enough to be Henry Tilney, even if he is the only one out of all these versions to actually get to say his best line (the "intolerably stupid" one) in full. He comes across as such a serious, judgmental man that it's hard to understand what Catherine sees in him. And Robert Hardy is an excellent actor, but completely the wrong choice for General Tilney. He looks far too jolly, and works much better as Sir John in Sense and Sensibility, or even Cornelius Fudge in Harry Potter.
Kudos to them for finding a Katharine to play Catherine.
Wishbone s02 ep09 "Pup Fiction" (1997)
Obviously very truncated because they had to fit it into a half-hour children's show with a real-world framing story
They basically cut out all the marriage drama stuff and focus more on not letting your imagination run away with you.
Whether you enjoy it or not will mostly depend on whether you like Wishbone in general. (Personally, I'm ambivalent.)
Northanger Abbey (2007) starring Felicity Jones and J.J. Feild
The most watchable version (best acting, production value, faithfulness of adaptation, etc.)
Felicity Jones is perhaps "too pretty" to be Catherine, who is supposed to be rather plain, but she's very easy on the eyes and does an excellent job at portraying Catherine's wide-eyed wonder and naivety.
J.J. Feild is the perfect Henry Tilney. Suave, charming, with a cheerful twinkle in his eye as often as not, it's so clear to see why Catherine falls for him, as well as why he becomes so attracted to her way of assuming the best of everyone. Alas, he doesn't get to say the wonderful line about those who don't read novels being "intolerably stupid," but he shines in all the scenes where he teases Catherine. I also think he did the best job at portraying the gentleness mixed in with the anger when he rebukes her for assuming the worst of his father.
Excellent casting for most, if not all, of the supporting characters. Liam Cunningham makes for a very intimidating General Tilney, William Beck is exactly what John Thorpe should be, and Carey Mulligan, though I will always see her first as Ada Clare from Bleak House, was the perfect choice for Isabella.
The biggest downside to this adaptation is that some of Catherine's dreams and imaginings are rather sexual in tone. If memory serves, she even has a dream where we see her from behind, standing completely naked in front of a man. It's unnecessary and adds a strange sort of voyeuristic note to the movie that I didn't appreciate.
We get to see more of Catherine's siblings, which is very fun.
Does the best job at capturing the satirical tone of the novel, mostly through music and the narrator
Northbound webseries (2015-2016) by Oh For Cute! Productions
Of the two (yes, two) modern-day adaptations on YouTube, I think this one did the best job at capturing the essence of the novel. It's set forth as the vlog of Catherine Morland, a girl heading out from Fullerton, Virginia, to New York City. Instead of Northanger Abbey, she goes to North College in NYC, where she meets Henry and Eleanor, then finds out that their father is a history professor, and decides to take a class from him.
All the videos are fairly short, so it's kind of impressive how easily a coherent story can be told through them. Due to the format of the series and it being an indie production, the audio/video quality is fairly low and the actors aren't exactly Hollywood-tier (some better than others). But it kind of lends a sense of authenticity to the series, like it really is just a vlog by some random girl relating her adventures in New York.
Catherine is cute and pretty, but in a normalish sort of way that I think is very fitting for her character. She's very relatable. I wasn't sure about Henry at first, but he has a certain "dashing heartthrob" quality about him, and a great sense of humor, that are very fitting for the character. A lot of the characters are very relatable or feel like people I've met in real life, especially because of the modern setting.
Worth noting: In this adaptation, James Morland is Jamie Morland, Catherine's sister. She still has a romance with Isabella, and has much more of a presence in the story than James does in the original.
Oh my gosh the modern-day version of John Thorpe is so creepy and ick. It put the character in perspective so well for a modern audience, more so than scenes of him tearing through the streets in his fancy carriage or whatever. Like...I knew a guy in college exactly like him, though thankfully his attentions weren't turned on me *shudder*
The chemistry was really good between all the actors, so even when some of the lines felt a little too scripted, it was super believable that these people would be friends (or what have you).
I absolutely 100% want to be in Catherine's friend group (after the end, when the Thorpes are no longer around). They're all such lovely people, and seem fun to hang around.
The Cate Morland Chronicles webseries (2016) by Apple Juice Productions
Unlike Northbound, this one has Catherine in her twenties, trying to figure out how to be an adult while also being a huge nerd. Cate is running a vlog, but it's a bit more "official," because she runs a fan blog for, among other things, the cult classic TV show The Mysteries of Udolpho. She gets a job as a journalist, and continues the vlog for work. Shortly after she gets her new job, she has the opportunity to interview Henry Tilney, the actor for one of the lead roles in Udolpho. They're immediately and obviously attracted to each other, and the story evolves from there.
The setup for this series was much less relatable than Northbound, even though the characters talk about various fandoms (real as well as the fictional Udolpho show). I mean, many of us have gone through struggles like the Northbound Catherine, trying to find our way as adults and as college students. But how many of us have been journalists who have the chance to interview our teenage movie crush? And then fall in love with them for real? And end up in a relationship with them? And have it all captured on video and put up on YouTube for the world to see? It broke my suspension of disbelief more than once in that respect.
While the camera and mic quality was better than Northbound, the Cate Morland Chronicles generally seemed to have a lower quality of actors. Cate was probably the best, and Henry was pretty good too. But a lot of the supporting actors just didn't feel natural - especially James and Eleanor, I thought. It was like the difference between a high school play and a college play.
Probably as a result of the acting itself not being the best, a lot of times the chemistry between characters suffered. This was especially a problem between Cate and Henry. There were a lot of videos where I found it hard to buy that they were falling in love. The best ones by far were the road trip videos.
Oh yeah, and they had Henry and Eleanor not be siblings for some reason? She's his publicist instead. And yet they're super close, so that Eleanor can go along to Henry's house with him and Cate, and so they can preserve that fake-out moment when Cate first meets her and thinks Eleanor is Henry's girlfriend or something. So they had to have this whole thing where Eleanor explains that they have a brother-sister relationship, when everything would have been so much easier to explain if they'd just...actually been siblings, like they are in the original.
This is more subjective, but I found Cate to be kind of annoying at times. I just found her to be less likeable than the Northbound Catherine, kind of exhausting actually. I think she had a bit too strong of a personality to be Catherine Morland. To put it in Northanger Abbey terms, she actually seems to be perfectly set up to be the heroine.
Hopefully this information will help you decide which, if any, adaptations you want to pursue yourself.

What's your favourite soulsborne and what lessons do you think similar games should take from it?
Either the original Dark Souls or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I'll start with the latter.
What made Sekiro feel so good is that it took the combat system and honed it to perfection, stripping away the chaff. (Almost) everything fed into the way deflection worked, rewarding high skill players with a very high skill ceiling. Kusabimaru's name tells you its value, it is the lynchpin of how you interact with enemies, be it offensively or defensively, not that there's a true difference. Even as an enemy like Owl or Isshin bears down on you, if you're good, if you're perfect, you cut into them, inverting their strength into an opening. You only need to attack offensively a handful of times in such fights, for they will have broken themselves upon you. Movement was a means to an end, to either deal with what couldn't be deflected or to get into range. Shinobi tools were limited in how many times they could be used in a fight, best serving as a way to augment Kusabimaru's shortcomings. The first time the fight against Genichiro Ashina clicked for me, it was a high that I've experienced in very few games. It only took me four attempts to beat Isshin the first time, because by that point in the game I understood and felt Kusabimaru as an extension of Wolf.
In short, I think what games should learn from Sekiro is to do one thing and do it well. As for Dark Souls? Hmm. That's a tougher question to articulate.
In a lot of ways, what makes DaS1 charming for me is its lack of polish, or maybe its faith in the player, though those are hard to distinguish. It's coarser than later entries, largely lacking signposts. The lack of fast travel until the midpoint, the amount of interconnectedness, and the density of it all gives the world a grounded, weighty feeling. Very little space goes to waste in DaS1, and when you're confronted with an open area there's stuff there, items and enemies. If you're not careful, you can aggro a whole mob of enemies while trying to grasp the flickering lights of distant items, making even an open area feel unbearably claustrophobic. It's not just the physical world, either, there's the way that the story of the world isn't really explained, only mentioned in passing or hinted at, lending so much more gravitas to what you do get. Some of this is intentional, some is the result of the game's troubled development. Then there's the esoteric mechanics it has. The game was so experimental. Some of it worked and worked as intended. Some of it didn't work, despite working as intended. Some of it didn't work because it didn't work as intended. Some of it worked, but not as intended.
Now, the problem with all that is that it's vibes-based and hard to recreate.
DaS3 got close, but that's a direct consequence of it fellating DaS1, and even then it's hampered by FromSoft being more experienced at their jobs and being more knowable on account of being DaS1 again. DaS2 got close in world feel, despite its world being weaker, but fumbled it in how it felt to play, but that's another post entirely. Unfortunately, I have never played Bloodborne so I can't compare it. Elden Ring was too big, showed too much. It was too complete. Sure, it left questions, but for the most part these questions aren't the result of questions. Usually, when you ask a question of Elden Ring, you find an answer if you look. Elden Ring solemnly nods and launches into a prepared spiel, because new Tarnished unfamiliar with the Lands Between turn up all the time so half the characters have an FAQ ready to go. DaS1 cocks its head at you like you're weird for not knowing already before tutting about the effects of hollowing on memory.
Do I think other games should be taken out of the oven before they're done? No. Would I have been less enchanted with DaS1 if it had been cooked all the way through? Yes. But I think I can articulate what I like about DaS1 better than that, having typed up a whole bunch of shit and deleted it.
The world in DaS1 makes you feel small. It doesn't exist for you, you're a tourist without a guidebook asked to kill a couple gods and take their place, please and thank you. The same pitch had been given to an unknowable amount of undead before you. It's the same for Sekiro, you're just trying to do your job while everything falls apart around you. You don't feel small in DaS2 once you realize it hates you. The whole wide world itself hates the Bearer of the Curse. DaS3 is coy about it. You're just dregs, but the world itself acknowledges that sometimes even Ash is special, because, well, the fucking Chosen Undead did it way back when, and who ever thought that would happen? In Elden Ring, the gods themselves are small, pawns for gods greater than themselves, but reality will still bend around them, a Lord is a Demigod, and you inevitably become a Lord.
I guess, in essence, sometimes it's fine to be small.

My Man.
When i first met you, i admit that your vibe kinda weired for me, do you know why? Its because no matter how i'm approachable i am to you and to your batch mate you never approach me the way you approach Kuya James, Ate Mariane, Ate Jesila and Kyle. I will admit that even that i dont have feelings for you i found you very charming and cute. I remember during midyear when i said good luck to you and your classmate pero as i have said apaka nonchalant mo😆. At that time napaisip ako kung kilala mo ba ako or feeling close lang ako that time.😆 Nasabihan pa ako ng kaibigan kong si Cherry na " para kang mayor, good luck ka ng good luck di ka naman kilala" and at that time tumama yung hiya ko sayo😆. Fast forward during orientation, napapasin na kita but i was kinda busy since i am the facilitator of orientation in our department. Nakakahiya nga kasi utos ako ng utos sayo huhuhuhuhuhu sorry naaaaa pero at that time, mas nakikita ko yung ugali mo like matulungin, mabait, funny and jolly and higit sa lahat ng nagustuhan ko is yung pagiging gentleman mo. At that time sabi ko sa sarili ko " ang swerte ng magiging girlfriend nito. Ang full package" Helping me in my things, comforting me during my lows and showing some stuff that you only does to me makes me curious about you. Time pass by, we got closer and closer to each other to the point na may anime marathon na tayo (yes marathon na siya sakin kahit 2 anime movies lang yon😆) and natutukso na tayo sa TES unbothered pa ako non kasi ang tingin ko pa sayo non baby boy or little brother kaya ang tawag ko sayo non Bebe and you use yo call me Ate. I was shocked when the time na nag inuman kayo ng friends mo and nag confess ka sakin that time. Yung paniniwala ko pa non sa sinabi mo 50/50 pa kasi ng lasing ka non so di ko alam kung totoo or hindi and that is the reason why i didnt bring up that topic nung kinaumagahan. As time pass by we are still close pero mas lumalalim yunh closeness natin. I remember nong sinabi ko na may practice kami ng badminton at sumama ka gulat ako kasi jokingly ko lang naman siya sinabi but at that time nakita ko na sa mata mo na you really have feelings for me but at that time also hindi ko alam kung may feelings na ako sayo non basta ang alam ko lang is i am really comfortable sayo i feel safe and calm. Then this time dumating na yung time na hindi mo ako pinansin kasi nag selos ka ng husto sa taga crim. I knew at that moment na gusto na kita. When Kaye Cee ask the name ng taga crim mas inuna ko yung mararamdaman mo kesa sa nararamdaman ko and i am really pissed when you didnt chat me at buti nalang may medical kaming sched non kaya nakausap kita. Things went smoothly between us up until ng tinanong mo ako kung pwede manligaw. Ang gara pa naman ng pagkakasabi ko sayo ng oo that time kasiii parang walang emotion pero i am happy that time kasi kahit papano may umuusad. I ask my dad about courting and you know what is the answer christmas came and ang saya ko non promise that was the best christmas and new year ever. But just like any other story, things get rough for us right know. We got too overboard and we didnt knew our limits. May this thing was a test to us if we manage to survive this. Now that my family are against us i cant do anything but to follow them. Being away to you is really hard as the moment. I couldn't sleep, think and i am longing to you. But let us take this moment my love to be better and to be wiser in our future. Lets learn from this and be better version of us. I promise to comeback to you with no fear and ready to show my love to you. I will also keep in mind your promise and use it as drive to finish this course and be with you for the rest of our lives. I love you, always love💗 be strong and have faith just like your name destiny will lead us to comeback for each other.

CATCHING UP WITH TAYLOR SWIFT
By Lauren Tingle
July 24, 2007 at 6:07 PM
Teenagers may be notoriously concerned about popularity, but Taylor Swift has nothing to worry about. Already, she has toured with Rascal Flatts, George Strait, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Brad Paisley. Her debut album has sold more than 1 million copies, and she nabbed a CMT Music Award as favorite new artist. (She takes the trophy with her on tour so her fans can hold it, too.) During a recent visit to the CMT Radio studio, the upbeat singer-songwriter talked about her fondness for dresses, her new computer and why she's OK with being single.
CMT: What's it like touring with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill?
Taylor Swift: They're so nice. I seriously love them. They're so approachable. It's unbelievable because they're so down-to-earth about everything. I mean, headliners are usually really, really nice to the opening acts. I've been lucky to be on such amazing tours and to tour with George Strait and Rascal Flatts. They've all been so sweet, but Tim and Faith are so great because they make sure that every single person on the tour has met them. They make sure that everybody feels comfortable, and I love them. It's one huge, happy awesome family.
After my first show, when I came back to my dressing room, there was this box and it was wrapped up, and there was a note. It was two boxes, actually. One has a candle in it and it smells awesome, but that's on my bus. I can't wear that around. (laughs) And in the other box was this charm bracelet, and the front of the note said, "Be Remarkable," and in the inside it said, "Taylor you've already accomplished this. Love, Tim and Faith." I'm like, "Oh, my gosh!" I love them. I seriously love them. I'm such a super fan.
They loved your song, "Tim McGraw," of course.
I think that's part of the reason why I'm out there -- because of the song. (laughs) But don't tell anybody. Keep that on the down low.
What kind of advice did they give you?
Faith has told me that she really likes the way that I dress. She's like, "You never expose too much." I think that's one of the coolest things someone can say -- that they like the way you dress -- because that says so much. I've never had a stylist do things for me and pick out what I was gonna wear and what my look was gonna be. It was really nice of her to say that. That's one of the coolest things I think she's said to me.
Do you get a lot of time to shop?
Actually, I don't get a lot of time to shop, but when I do come back to Nashville, I consider those bona fide shopping days. ... Dresses are my weakness, seriously. Lately, I'll get jeans or skinny jeans or whatever if I'm just hanging out, but most of the time I'm really comfortable in dresses. If I see a really cute dress, I have to buy it.
You've got a new toy, right?
I did! Yeah, I'm having a blast. I got this new laptop. It's the only [big] thing that I bought. I was talking to my mom and I was like, "I really want a new computer." The computer I have is five years old and weighs 50 pounds. I thought maybe I should get a new computer, and she was like, "Taylor, you can get a new computer." I was so excited. I've been obsessed with it for the past two weeks, and I've been taking pictures and putting them up on MySpace and doing all kinds of stuff like video editing.
You wrote "Teardrops on My Guitar" about a guy named Drew. Has he actually called you?
Yes, and he's left me five different voicemails. Like, "Hey, it's Drew. How are you Taylor? I haven't talked to you in like a year and a-half. How are you?" I think he knows exactly how I am because I think he's heard my song on the radio. I don't want to call him back and be like, "Hey it's Taylor, that girl who wrote the song about how I'm in love with you and how I wanted you to break up with your girlfriend." That would be the most awkward conversation ever! I've been too pathetic to call him back. ... I figure I'm saving guys the trouble of dating me because I would be the most inconvenient girlfriend ever. I figured me being single right now is not only good for me, but it's good for the guys. I'm saving them the trouble of dating a girl who would never be able to see them.
You've been dreaming about this life. Is it everything you thought it would be?
It is so much better. I never really thought it was gonna happen. I am one of those people who wants to do the work for something and want it so bad and work for it, but not expect anything. I was never that little kid who was walking around saying, "Hey, you guys, I'm going to be famous some day. Just wait." Because I didn't know that, and I've always tried to be very practical and very logical about things like that. Never once did I say, "I'm gonna make it, I'm gonna be famous, I'm gonna be a country singer."
Instead, I did the work and tried to make it happen myself without promising anybody anything that I didn't know was gonna happen. When I go out in public now and a trip to Wal-Mart turns into an autograph signing, it's more than I ever could have asked for. People come up and say they like my music. That's all I ever wanted. I don't see how that could ever get old. I seriously love it so much, and these people are the reason why I'm here, so I ought to say hi to them and sign their piece of paper in Wal-Mart.
