7 comfort movies
Thank you @yokecyansim for the tag! These were too hard to pick.
Badhaai Ho (Hindi, 2018) - I love any good south Asian film in the slice-of-life genre, and this is one such film that speaks of very lay-man problems while tackling cultural taboos in a light-hearted manner.
Ratatouille (English, 2007) - The animations alone are enough to place this movie at the top of all my lists! Plus I watched it with my sis and cousins, and those were good memories.
English Vinglish (Hindi, 2012) - Sridevi’s acting + the story hits home. Every time!
Mayabazaar (Telugu/Tamil, 1957) - This is a classic, and it’s impossible to not love Savitri Garu’s expressions in it. Plus the music always feels like home!
The Harry Potter Series (English) - Okay, these don’t count as one movie, and just like any other Potterhead, I’ll never think they match up to the books. But I grew up watching them, and they will always mean a lot to me.
Chak De! India (Hindi, 2007) - It’s a feel good movie, need I say more?
Pitch Perfect (English, 2012) - Yes it’s basic but also the reason I spent the whole of Sec 1 throwing acapella references for every situation. Cringey, but nostalgic.
