you didn't know what happened, you were in mike's basement playing dnd with will, mike and lucas. lucas and mike seemed uninterested so you were trying your best to make the campaign more interesting then will got tired, got up to leave and you heard yelling, specifically mike being a douche and you have had enough.

you only arrived to the point of the argument when will stormed off with his bike, knowing damn well you cant bike for shit.

you turn to mike, the urge to punch him thrumming into your irritation. "why the fuck would you do that?" you ask him, trying to contain your anger from your tone. "wh- are you taking his side?" he yells at you, that was what made you click. "shut up wheeler! i know you guys have girlfriends, i know you have priorities but seriously? do you even know what he went through?" you argue practically fuming, mike clearly pissed off by this proceeds to say, "yeah! he went missing for a week in the most scariest place ever, he got possessed by the mind flayer."

you scoff, "he was robbed of a perfectly good and normal childhood because of stupid monsters! he's used to want to play with you guys because he wants to relive his childhood. not just that but our friendship, how it used to be, before el, before he went missing and before you became the most fucked up best friend i have ever fucking seen." you say to him, jabbing your pointer finger on his chest over and over again.

it was only the rain and the silence, he was frozen to the spot. "i'm going after him." you lean back with a sigh, "let me take-" you sent him a glare, he stopped talking. "you have done enough, i'm gonna do will better." you mutter to him, grabbing an umbrella from the hamper and opened it, beginning to head to the byers household first.

you have been to everywhere will would have disappeared to, the arcade, the byers and the records store. but he wasn't there so you went to a place you never have went to ever since he went missing. it was getting dark but, you couldn't just leave will.

you arrived to castle byers, sweating in your armpits and socks wet from rain. you saw the small wooden hut destroyed, will doing the destroying to be exact. he was punding a large stick on to the wooden hut, completely tearing the entrance.

you immediately ran to him and sheltered his figure with the umbrella in your hand. he seemed to have notice, turning around, red nose- face wet, you could tell he had been crying- it wasn't just evident due to the rain. a sight that broke you internally, making you furious at mike once again.

"mike is a jerk." you tell him and he only stays silent for a while then grabbed you by your neck to hug you. "thank you for trying to make the campaign more interesting for them." he whispers, you could only catch a little of it though, it was still pouring. "yeah and i hate the fact that you biked away, you know i can't bike!" you scoff taking his shoulders by your hands and forced him to look at you. "i looked all over for you." you say to him, dead in the eye. he looked to the ground, upset. "i'm sor-" you shush him, "you know the least bit you could do is maybe don't say sorry because it's those losers fault and not yours, and let's go to your place."

you were in the byers household, no one was there except the both of you. jonathan was probably with nancy, but that was al you knew. will was cleaning himself up in his room while you were busy making pb&j sandwhiches for the both of you, barefoot because your wet socks were feeling uncomfortable. he went back with semi-wet hair and sat down on the dining chair as you slid a plate of the sandwhich towards him. he started eating it and you eat up as well, he kept glancing at you- maybe expecting you to say something.

after a few minutes you set down your half eaten sandwich and looked at him, "i know the others have been ignoring you because of... their girlfriends but i want you to know that, i'm really glad that you're alive, i know you're barely perfectly happy right now and i'm just really sorry for everyone's behavior to you recently." you explain nervously, you really didn't want to touch a nerve accidentally. will finished his sandwich and looks at you with a smile, "you're probably the only one that understands me right now." will admits guiltily. "can i give you a hug?" you ask impulsively. once you realized what you asked you widened your eyes and your hands flew up as an expression "i don't know why i said that- it's just sad to see you like this and a few words of assurance won't totally make up for today." will chuckled, "well- you made me a sandwich." he told you. "but i think it would be better if that hug offer is still open." you felt your cheeks flush of how adorable and timid that sounded out of him. you approached him and your arms slips around his shoulder, the both of you not breaking eye contact, and you could feel your heart flutter and air getting knocked out from your lungs. you buried your head on his shoulder, trying to hide the fact that you're practically blushing right now. he reluctantly wrapped his arms around your shoulders as well and snorts. "this is... so awkward." he laughs as you laugh along. "hey, you asked for the hug!"

Summery: Donnie is in a bad mood. It’s up to Mikey to cheer him up.

Mikey could sense people’s emotions. Especially when it’s negative. So when Donnie came into the kitchen that morning, he could tell immediately that he was in a bad mood.

“Morning Don!” Leo cheered. Donnie grunted slightly in reply as he sat down in front of the plate of breakfast Mikey had made.

“You ok Donnie?” Mikey asked tentatively. “Yea m’fine..” he mumbled, forking eggs into his mouth a bit forcefully.

Mikey shot him a worried look but decided to give it a rest.

Later on that day, Donnie’s mood persisted. He was sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone, glaring at the screen.

“Donnie, are you ok?”

“Yes, Angelo, I’m fine.” He told his younger brother, not once looking up from the small screen.

“No you aren’t!” Mikey protested. “You’ve been grumpy all day!”

Donnie merely ignored him. He almost never did that to Mikey because he had such a soft spot for his youngest brother and never wanted to make him sad or upset. But today just wasn’t it.

“Ok. If you won’t be happy, I’ll make you be happy!!!”

Donnie looked up just in time to watch Mikey tackle the him down to the couch. Donnie attempted to fight him off, but admittedly, Mikey was the most skilled fighter of all of them.

“M-Mikey! Nows not the time for this!!!” Donnie protested. Mikey had settled on his legs, keeping him in place, and was now wrestling his arms down.

“No! Not until you’re feeling better again!”

With a surge of determination and a moment of pure strength, he had Donnie’s arms pinned above his head.

“M-Mikey!!” Donnie yelled out, trying to yank his arms out of Mikey’s grip.

“You’ll thank me later.” Mikey told him with a wink, and then began digging his free fingers into his side.

Donnie arched his back slightly, and sealed his lips shut, trying not to let any laughter out. As much as he despised it, for as long as he could remember, he’d been devastatingly ticklish.

“Cmonnn Donnieee you knowww you waanna laugh!!!” Mikey teased.

Donnie could feel the laughter bubbling in his chest.

“Fine.” Mikey said. “You won’t laugh? I’ll just up my.. GAME!!” At the word “game” Mikey used his free hand and went straight for either side of his armpits.

Donnie gasped and finally erupted into loud cackles. Mikey alternated his hand one side to the other rapidly.

“Awwww.. finally! There’s that adorable laugh!!!” Mikey teased. Donnie’s face flushed red, “SHUHUHUT UHUHUPPP!!!”

“But why? It’s true! Your laugh is adorable! Whether you admit it or not.”

“MIHIHIKEYHEY STOHOHOPP!!” Donnie begged again.

“Not until you admit your laugh is adorable.” Mikey told him.

“NOHOHO WAHAHAYY!!”

Man Donnie was stubborn. But that’s ok. Mikey was stubborn also.

“Fine! Then I get to do this for as long as I want, you cant stop me, unless you admit it.”

It wasn’t until Mikey put more force in digging into his underarms that Donnie finally broke.

“AHHHAHA OHOHKAHAHY OHOHKAHAY IHI HAHAHAVE AHAN AHAHDORABLE LAHAHAUGH!!!” Donnie shrieked. He couldn’t help it. The sensations became too maddening to bear.

“Now was that so hard?” Mikey asked with a smirk, releasing his arms and getting off him.

“Ihi… hahate… yohohu… sohoho muhuch…” Donnie said through excess giggles, trying to catch his breath and curling in on himself.

“That’s fair,” Mikey said, “but how do you feel now? Are you still grumpy?”

Donnie sat up and caught the last of his breaths. “No, I guess not…”

As much as he hated the fact that he was just tortured half to death, he had to admit he DID feel a bit better. He shot a small smile a Mikey “Thanks little brother.”

“Anytime!” Mikey said, grinning widely back at him.

Just as Mikey began to get up, Donnie stopped him in his tracks. “And where do you think you’re going? I still haven’t gotten my revenge.”

“W-Wait! Wait, Donnie! N-No!!! AHAHAHA!!”

Donnie had pounced on him and began his attack.

I have some media on my hands that i cannot find, but it cannot possibly be lost, ive been looking for it for hours and i cant find it anywhere. bear with me-

when i was getting ‘a little too old’ for kids cartoons, but i would still watch them, there was a new show that came out on [likely] nick jr. other possible programs for this could be sprout, disney jr., or PBS, but i dont think was on PBS. this mustve been around 2010-2014. it was a show about these scientist kids who all lived [?] in a labatory. im PRETTY sure all of them were either all monkeys, or different types of animals, maybe with different lab motifs like a rat and a bunny, since those are lab animals. the main character was this know it all monkey that i HATED as a kid because he was the one who solved EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM like the little gary stew that he was. his little thing was that every time there was a problem, he would shout, “EUREKA”! and then he would solve the problem with science or friendship or whatever. i just remember thinking how annoying it was that he had no flaws.

i remember this one episode where another monkey character got sick. he was a lighter shade than the main character and im pretty sure he was just a younger side character who wasnt exactly there all the time. i think he was a younger sibling of sorts? anyway, he got sick and he had to stay home all day. from what i can remember he was the only one who was shown to have a home, unlike the other kids, who lived by themselves in the lab. he kept on wanting to go to this party his friends were hosting, but his mother said he was too sick to go. she served him this weird mushy food that he hated and didn’t want to eat, but the bowl she served it in was the exact shape of his head, so he had the idea to make it look like him and sneak off. he went to the party and all of his friends were concerned for him and told him he should be getting rest at home. i cant remember how the episode ends. i think he was one of my favorite characters, and i also think that there was one female character who was obviously dressed in all pink so that you knew she was a girl.

i also remember a bumper for the show where the gary stew mc said his eureka catchphrase as a green potion popped up with a speech bubble, though this could have been something im making up. i remember feeling annoyed when it appeared.

the artstyle was 2D and had a thick outline look to it. it looked kind of like wow wow wubzy.

it was not wow wow wubzzy or sid the science kid. i do not think it was AstroBlast, but if someone pulls up an episode like the one i described, i might change my mind.

Thoughts on 11.21...

Caryl: i really dont know what to think anymore. I think i'll wait for the show's end (unless something really BIG happens for them before) to give an overall review on how it "ended" for them, because right now i dont know what to think anymore. But yes, Daryl is the most important person in her heart/life and it showed in her speech to Maggie, and yes, the holding hands moment was more than nice. But i sooo want to tell her "stop thinking you re not good enough for him! Stop it!" That's all i can say for now.

As for the rest of the episode:

- as i've said in my sort of review for 11.20, its been apparently confirmed by AK and/or others that Rosita and Gabe have broken up somehow sometime off screen. And it kind of showed, its true, in this episode. That said, i still feel the love between them. Of course if you dont like them u wont agree and thats fine but since they grew on me, i believe they re still very much connected, and you can feel how much he loves her. As for her, she's colder, but to me she's always been using this kind of cold attitude as a coping mechanism before (with Eugene, Sasha...) so it doesnt mean that she doesnt care. If anything, it means she does. Hard to explain. Plus it was kind of cute how they were sort of bickering "lets follow the train" "but there is no train" . I dont know. I loved them seperately and wanted nothing more than to see them happy after the mess that was Abe for her and Jadis/Anne for him, so it wasnt hard for me to love them together.

- Again, Gabriel is amazing, the way he acted towards the soldier... i remember when he finally tried to make things right back in S6, how Rick was rightfully still not trusting him, and i was thinking please persevere Gabriel dont give up and im so glad that he came around and now everyone trust him fully. That hug with teary Carol? Could u have imagine this back in S5? Im so proud of him

- Maggie and Carol moment was all i wanted since 6.13. I remember when i used to think: ok she is close mainly to Daryl, Rick, Morgan, Zeke, and its great, but what abt Maggie and Michonne? What abt female friendships?After 6.13, we were starved of scenes between Maggie and Carol, and we litteraly had to wait til 9B to see her really starting to interact with Michonne (correct me pls if im wrong). So im glad in s11 we have all those little meaningful moments between her and Maggie

- seing Kelly so lost and scared and sad broke my heart. Can someone hug her please? Im glad Zeke stopped her from doing something stupid, though u cant blame her for trying. He literally saved her life here. Its nice to see them having scenes together. And then Connie saying we need to find her coz i know she's scared...💔

- Negan/Ezekiel: u have no idea how emotional it made me to have Ezekiel, without giving names, mentioning what Negan has done to Dwight, Sherry (and many other women/people). Especially if you follow ftwd, u might understand why it made me emotional. Also, having Negan say "yeah i havent forgotten either and i know i dont deserve shit" ... i was like fiiinallyyy... i feel we 're slowly, thanks to Annie and the baby, going back to the Negan from Here's Negan. Which means a man with flows, but not a monster. And it was abt time somebody mentioned in the show that the pb with Negan wasnt only what he did to Glenn and Abraham (whom i love dearly), but also everything else. And no, i dont even hate him anymore. But what Zeke said was much needed for me.

Kind of a boring one but saying PB is evil/insane/bad/etc. )

( For context, He originally is this guy in the comics. And he's a troublemaker kid from Hykosis that gives Khensu a hard time but like Brian seems to have been picked up by P.Y.R.A.M.I.D for his own safety and they believed in him doing something more than becoming a pirate or space criminal.

The show then took Antonius and gave him Zaid's name for some reason with 'Antonius' being his middle name.

This guy. Cant really stand this guy anymore. He was boring and underused in the show and the fandom makes it worse just characterizing him as a generic handsome boy and ignoring his other character traits of being in a literal war and from a similar place Brian is. On top of that they only want to ship him with Brian or Cleo. Mostly Brian for the yaoi uwus, and drawn in some ways teens really shouldn't be drawn imo. Stop doing that to a literal teenager.

As for PB, it is a common misunderstanding and alot of people love her but every so often I get those generic yt shorts of some ranter saying how shes evil and should be stopped without accounting for the fact all she did was to save her people or friends. Even if it was selfish. It all reminds me of that tumblr post "We need more complex female characters!! You could barely handle Mabel Pines/Rose Quartz/etc." I know its useless to be annoyed but the lack of people's critical thinking still surprises me sometimes. How do you watch AT or any show and then completely forget the context and nuance of characters?? )

Ok but seriously, their dynamic is so interesting. We don't really see Dio's interactions with other people whom he doesn't just see as a subordinate or tool

Well, there's Pucci, but (going off of what my brother has told me because I- haven't read the manga yet hsgshsgsh) he isn't really an equal to Dio. The circumstances considered, there's definitely far too much manipulation and power imbalance for the two to truly be considered on equal standing. (And this isn't to say that diopucci isn't a great ship, it is! I just prefer DJD for those reasons).

Aside from Jotaro, Jonathan is the only one who Dio could ever consider a genuine threat. A rival. Someone actually worthy of his respect and attention. I think he really does value (even if he realises it too late) having someone who can hold that position. That can test him, and push him to his limits. That stops everything from going his way, and forces him to really give it his all. Jonathan is the polar opposite of Dio in so many ways, a true gentleman, kind and with the kind of compassion that could only be rivalled by a saint. If Dio was to be loved by anyone unconditionally, it's him (it could only be him!). On the flip side Jonathan sees through Dio. The wool is never really pulled over his eyes, and he's probably the only person who can really read him, see Dio for what he is. He sheds tears when he believes Dio to be dead, yes, partly because Jonathan is also that kind, but I believe partly because he genuinely saw the good in him and something that could have been worth saving. Much in the way Dio is challenged by Jonathan, Jojo is also challenged by Dio, and with him he is confronted with ideas and behaviours he never usually would have in his (admittedly) privileged life.

Even if their 7 year relationship was mostly a facade in order to keep the peace, I firmly believe not all of it was a lie. I think it's impossible- you just don't spend that long close to a person (especially growing up with them) without developing some kind of sentiment towards them (even if they might not deserve it in your eyes-). It only makes me wonder about the kind of quiet, intimate moments they must have shared. When one of them fell asleep at their desk, did the other take a moment to appreciate their sleeping form? In the early morning, when they ate breakfast and sipped tea whilst reading the newspaper, did the peace last? When one was sick, did the other begrudgingly look after them, only to complain when they too fell ill the next day?

You know, I don't really think that love and hate are all that different. Two sides of the same coin, you know? I never really thought the opposite of love was hate, but rather- indifference. Because whether you love someone or hate them, you still feel strongly towards them, no? Jonathan and Dio may have hated each other. I think they loved each other too. Whatever was between them, though, I think we can all agree, it sure as hell wasn't indifference.

AH sorry for rambling so much akdjskdjskdjsjs, I just- mmmm this ship is so good. It really is the highlight of PB for me. I mean, when the relationship between these two characters pretty much forms the base for the series as a whole, how can i not be invested???

that poc ask reminded me, i was doing research on all of the characters backgrounds and was so shocked at how the writers were able to make characters who were chinese, creole, cafre/moroccan, arab/north african, malian, vietnamese, japanese, jewish, native american, black, and so many more im probably missing so BORING. im black, and dont get me wrong i hate in your face representation, but you can tell thomas just throws all these nationalities and ethnicities in as if theyre extra points he can earn. you cant know that any of the characters are so diverse unless you go onto the wiki or you rummage through his tweets. i take great pride in my culture so its just annoying he takes pride in having such a diverse cast but that means nothing if you dont do anything with it.

I don’t want to act like I’m the authority on this, but my personal theory is that Astruc wants the show to be easily digestible for viewers despite also claiming his cast is so diverse to gain attention. Remember when he actually said something along the lines of “I’m not racist, some of my main characters are people of color!” when someone (albeit very rudely) accused him of being racist?

This theory of mine is kind of backed up with the idea that despite basing some of the heroes and Akumas on folklore, Astruc’s team really seem doesn’t do a lot of research on culture from other countries.

Oni-Chan is a good example. Aside from an admittedly decent character design, her powers don’t really match up with the Oni seen in Japanese mythology other than Oni-Gokko (tag, only the person who is “it” is called an Oni), but that’s really stretching it. She doesn’t use a club for a weapon, she doesn’t use any sorcery or elemental powers. She basically has the same powers as Lady Wifi. Thematically, Oni-Chan is closer to the Namahage, people who dress up in Oni costumes and threaten to kidnap children if they don't behave, similarly to what she was doing by hunting down Lila.

You really could have done a lot more with this concept, like if the Lucky Charm of the episode was something related to beans (a common practice in Japan during the Setsubun festival to bring in good fortune at the start of Spring), or peaches (a reference to the Momotaro fairy tale, where the titular Oni-fighting hero was born from a giant peach).

There’s also Weredad, an Akuma who just has a fairy tale motif despite it not really lining up with Tom’s character. I get that they were already going to have a baker-themed Akuma later on (even though that Akuma is also a waste of potential with his powers), but I just don’t get why they throw in so many fairy tale cliches in with this Akuma like the single rose or the damsel in distress role Marinette plays. What if instead, he was based off the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk? It’s just a mess of an Akuma concept

If you want to see an example of a show having fun with the concept of fairy tales, I’d check out Episodes 34 and 35 of Kamen Rider Ghost. You’ll get a little lost as it’s right as the series’ final arc is starting (and that’s not getting into a really creepy scene in Episode 34), but once you get to Episode 35, it becomes an absolute blast.

And then there’s Anansi, one of the worst Akumas of the series from a conceptual standpoint. Anansi in African folklore is a trickster by definition. The reason we have stories today according to African folklore is because Anansi managed to capture four extremely dangerous creatures for the Sky God Nyame (he tied Onini the Python to a palm tree branch, trapped the Mmoboro Hornets in a gourd, lured Osebo the Leopard into a pit, and got Mmoatia the Fairy stuck to a doll covered in gum tree sap), who traded his stories to Anansi in response. Even then, his wife Aso gave him a lot of advice on how to trap these creatures, and is sadly forgotten in modern interpretations of Anansi. As a result, since Nyame gave all of his stories to Anansi, every story told today is by definition, a “Spider Story”.

Anansi in the show... is the complete opposite. She’s a dumb brute who has to be told where the Miraculous are, and the closest thing she does to any trickery is trapping Alya and Cat Noir in one of her webs. It makes you wonder why Nora even adopted the title of Anansi in her boxing career in the first place. 

Why base an Akuma off someone known for deception and trickery and make them a complete idiot? For the love of God, you had a template to base this Akuma on because Static Shock had an episode all about a superhero themed after Anansi! Sure, a later episode with the character took a few liberties when discussing the folktale, but it’s still more accurate than what Miraculous Ladybug did.

To me, it just reinforces my belief that the only reason Astruc has characters of several ethnicities in his show is for social brownie points. If he actually cared about diversity or introducing folklore to children, he and his team would actually do their research on properly representing various cultures.

I’m just saying, when a PBS Kids cartoon with a talking moon as the main character does a better job at teaching children about various cultures in every episode than your show that only talks about other cultures in a handful of episodes, your writers might need to rethink the way they do their research.

okay, it’s over :) 

first thoughts out of the way: not a big fan of this special. it’s like watching a completely different show. it’s not got the PZSHAHH of the normal wizard city stuff and there weren’t a lot of funny jokes or even hearty moments in the thing. 

it suffers from a lack of invested character interactions, much like BMO did. there was not a single main cast member in the whole thing! and like i said before, much of peppermint butler’s character in the show is based on his very sweet relationship to his mother, princess bubblegum, so when they showed a single (hilarious) photo of them together it made me sad we didn’t get any scenes with them together. it would have STOLEN this episode. and they teased the hunson golf photo, and death!!! and jake appeared in a photo T_T last jake appearance. 

it also suffers because Peppermint Butler is clearly not himself, imo he was way more entertaining in the Together Again special, where we seem him back to his “normal” self. 

i dont think peps being a dark wizard was something to “kill off” exactly. i wonder what was going on there? was that actually peps, or was that a spirit he cursed himself with based on himself? we at least know in the future he does become a dark wizard again, and even princess :) this special didn’t answer those questions but lol. 

THE GOOD STUFF, because yes, there was a lot of good stuff! 

God, I’m with Aracle and Maya on this - I LOVE Cadebra and her relationship to Pep. I wish she was even in more of this - I would love to watch the adventures of Cadebra and Pepbut in their first year of school, like in the end credits.

That, imo, is where the heart of the special lay - Peppermint Butler’s attempts to impress himself, versus Cadebra’s self acceptance and desire to follow her dreams of being a goofy goober, no matter what other people thought of her. 

It turned out that Cadebra is a responsible student and family member. I really liked that. Her scenes with Abracadaniel were, somehow, my favourite in the entire special! 

I like that theres a lot of cool magic towards the end of this special, and a lot of HORRIFYING DEATH. It wouldn’t be adventure time if you didn’t randomly kill off child characters. Poor Spader, I hated you but damn, what a grim fate. 

I like that Bufo and Caledonius had this crush/hatred thing going on, but they were part of the same cult in the end. 

I didn’t like the giant peps scene at the end, the monster was extremely milquetoast compared to the madness we usually get in AT. Obsidian, for example, had the awesome Larvo design. Nemesis had some INSANE dark magic!!!!  I wish they drew more from that episode. 

Considering how much Steve Little appears in this special, I do feel bad for Mace (little Peps). He said he would have really benefitted from coaching, but recieved none. He had to re-record his lines 3 times! Judging from his description of events, Wizard City was a hard time for him. 

The wizard school did remind me, heavily, of both The Owl House and OK KO. Personally I was hoping AT would offer me something more insane, but I do love both of those shows, and I know Wizard City was on a really tight schedule. 

I think they should have spent less time on the school bullying plot, and skipped straight to MURDER. 

We did have a cold opening, not on par with Together Again’s at all, but damn!

I am wondering where I would put this in the watch list? I do think it should sit after Obsidian as the third special. The intro scene makes it clear this takes place at the same time as Obsidian!!!

Well, that was it, the last ep of AT for the next few years at least T_T

i think together again was the better finale, definitely. but wizard city feels pretty detached from AT for me, despite the familiar characters it tonally isn’t like the show other than the awesome brutal death scenes. I thought the last 11 minutes was easily the best in the special! Which, honestly, is how it should be, though I do wish it gripped me more. Maybe I’m just not the target audience for Wizard City? It feels like something I would find very compelling if I was a bit younger!

Virgil was perched on the back of the couch, his favorite spot in the living room that wasn’t the staircase, his headphones set over his head. Normally, he’d be playing stuff from his playlist, a little bit of Paramore, some Evanescence, a lot of MCR, some Panic! At the Disco. The usual. Except today, he decided to just… pretend. No music was coming through the headphones and every once in a while he would nod his head as if there was music.

He wanted to know what the others said about him when they thought he couldn’t hear. Every so often, he’d be listening to music while the others were doing their thing, their lips moving in conversation. And, sometimes, their eyes would flick over to Virgil, then back.

His anxiety rose every time it happened. What were they saying? Did they secretly hate him? Did they want him to go back to the others? Were they making fun of him?

On this particular day, Logan was seated at the kitchen table with Roman, and they were plotting out their ideas for the next few videos. Patton was in the kitchen, humming as he made the group some lunch. For the most part, the only things that Roman and Logan were talking about were their creative endeavors.

Virgil wondered if he was overreacting. Maybe they didn’t talk about him at all? 

He wasn’t sure which was worse: them talking about him when they think he’s not there, or them not talking about him at all.

“Ro, how’s the surprise for Virge going?” Patton’s voice was there as he joined the others at the table. Virgil’s eyes widened, but he made no movement, instead listening carefully, watching out of the corner of his eye. He could see the Prince glance over at him, as if to make sure that Virgil’s headphones were on, then look back at Patton.

“It’s almost ready,” Roman responded, and Logan looked up from his work. “I’m thinking this weekend, I’ll ask him to go on an imagination adventure with me, and you two will already be there, setting up a picnic or something in the flower field I made.”

Patton reached his hand out, settling it on top of Roman’s. “Do you think… he’ll want to?” From his limited view, Virgil could tell that Patton was nervous about whatever it was they were planning. He decided to tune out the rest of the conversation, pressing play on his headphones, letting his music flow through once again, as his mind raced over every possible scenario.

Was it a trap of some kind? Were they going to leave him out in a field in the imagination, so that they never had to deal with anxiety ever again? Was Remus out there, ready to attack? Or perhaps Janus, though he’d been even more reclusive lately.

He didn’t want to be tricked, but if it was something fun for the others, maybe he’d play along with it a little bit. Maybe he’d trick them back, if they were so keen on ruining his life.

A few days later, Virgil was perched on the top of the fridge, keeping himself hidden as Patton packed a picnic lunch then sunk out, Logan sinking out immediately afterwards. Virgil had noticed that Patton had packed his favorite foods, ranging from PB&B&J (peanut butter and banana and jelly) sandwiches to freshly washed grapes and chocolate peanut butter cups. There was even a large thermos full of iced tea. Virgil was confused. Was this a last meal of sorts? Giving him joy and yummy food before sending him to his doom?

Eventually he heard Roman wandering the halls, calling out his name, so he hopped down from the fridge and pulled his sleeves up. If he was going to go out, he’d go out with a fight. Roman finally spotted him and marched over, a big smile on his face.

“Good afternoon, my chemically imbalanced romance! Would you care to join me for a stroll in the imagination?” When Virgil stepped up to him, he noticed a fine layer of makeup over Roman’s skin, complete with shiny lipstick. 

“Nah, I’m good, Princey,” he finally said, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible. He attempted to walk past Roman and out of the kitchen, but a strong arm held him back. “What gives?”

“Please, Virge? I want to show you something I’ve been working on,” Roman’s voice was a bit softer then, and had taken on a bit of a pleading tone. “I promise it’ll be worth your while.” Virgil wasn’t sure if he wanted to fight or fly, but he answered his own question when he stepped even closer to Roman, a scowl on his face. “Let’s get one thing clear, Princey,” Virgil dropped his tone, not quite to the tempest voice range but teetering on the edge, in case he needed it, “There are very few things that are worth my while, and I’m almost certain that this is not one of those things.”

Roman’s face fell, and Virgil felt a twinge of guilt in his gut, but pushed it down, still staring right into the royal’s face. “I just… I think you’d really like this, Virge. Please?” He held out his hand, and Virgil wanted to take it. He really did. But… what if it was all a trick? What if Roman was pretending to be upset? 

Virgil hesitated, his hand nearing Roman’s, and he finally took it. And then they were sinking out of the kitchen, and they were in the imagination. 

Virgil had only been in the imagination a few times before. He’d seen different rooms and scenes, but nothing like what had appeared in front of him. It was, truly, a field full of purple flowers; lavender, wisteria, alliums, salvias, and geraniums. And in the middle of it all was a circle of grass; within that circle was a white picnic blanket, Patton laying on his back, gazing up at the miraculously formed clouds, head in the lap of Logan, who was reading a book.

“What is all of this?” Virgil asked, finally letting go of Roman’s hand. He let himself follow Roman through the flowers, the plants seemingly casting themselves aside to let the pair wander through without trampling any of their stems. Patton glanced up at the two, a bright smile on his face.

“It’s… well, Virge, it’s for you,” he said quietly, and Logan closed his book gently, setting it off to the side as Roman found his way to sit on the picnic blanket, pulling Patton’s legs into his lap. “I don’t know if you’ve… noticed. But… the three of us, we’re kind of… together.”

“What?” Virgil was sure that he sounded and looked incredulous. “Together, as in…”

“A queerplatonic relationship,” Logan said, glaring down at Patton a bit. “Well, sometimes. Sometimes Patton and I get a bit romantic, and, well, if you ever wanted to be romantic with one of us, that’s fine.”

“With one… of you?” Virgil was sure this was a joke. “I don’t understand.”

“We want you to be a part of this,” Roman’s voice was calm, and the way he was looking at Virgil definitely hinted at some kind of romance, but it was too much and Virgil’s brain couldn’t handle the thoughts and the implications– how was this affecting Thomas? How was it affecting the others?

The others. Did the others know? Did Remus know what his twin was up to? Janus had to be aware of this, he knew when any of them lied to each other. And… if he knew… they could all be in danger.

He felt hands gently take his, and looked up to find that he had fallen to his knees, and Patton was there in front of him, a face full of compassion right there, and Virgil wanted to bury himself in that cat hoodie and sob because it was too much and how would this work and what if down the line they decided they didn’t want him anymore—

And Virgil realized that he wanted it. He wanted in, and he wanted them.

“Okay,” he finally said, and there were three pairs of arms around him instantly, and lips on cheeks and tears were falling from someone’s eyes (probably his own or Patton’s). The thought spiral stopped itself for a moment to allow Virgil to be flooded with joy and a sense of belonging, and he could worry about all of those other things another time but for now, he was in the arms of three people who cared enough about him to make a picnic lunch and grow a garden of purple flowers.

Open Heart : Third Year Chapter 3

I feel like this chapter was definitely more of a filler chapter for the storylines but I did really enjoy it and again I loved the patient in this chapter. Especially the superhero scene. So heartwarming!

So it began with the team discussing the new patient. Mc walked in and saw Harper and Ethan reminiscing about a time together from when they were in a relationship. As soon as I saw this I was about to scream because I thought PB were still trying to force this whole jealously storyline on us, but then we got a diamond scene with Harper and I loved it. It finally cleared everything up and now they better be best friends because Harper is my fave. “A smile lingering on his lips”. Ethan is such a simp and I love it. The way Mc genuinely makes him so happy, like they are the most adorable couple ever. I can not.

I like that Mc and Harper finally got to work on a case together as a duo. I feel as though this chapter was based mainly on trying to develop their relationship more, which I like because since she has joined the diagnostics team we haven’t really spent any time together. Suzette was an angel. I loved her character so much but her story was so sad. First she had to suffer from cancer and now this.

Then we went to give Suzette a scan and we were met with this robot thing. I really do not know how I feel about Bloom’s new inventions all over the place. It seems like he’s looking at this hospital as more of an investment for his financial gain and not a way to help patients and medicine advance. I hate him so much. To be honest I thought the robot Binx was kinda cute. It is defo a way for Bloom to be listening in on our conversations though. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has placed mics into plant plots around the hospital. The next diamond scene was one of my faves from the book so far (yes I know we are only on chapter 3 but still). The main reason was because we finally got more of an insight into Ethan and Harpers relationship. I picked the option to find out more about Ethan and Harper and not because I am jealous. I did it because I’m truly just curious on how their relationship was and why they broke up. Let me tell you I am so happy that Harper is more of a main character in this book, because I adore her character so much. It is really nice to see this nicer and more sweet side to her now she isn’t in charge. I completely understand they are exes and feelings don’t just go away, also it takes Ethan sooooo long to open up ( as we know ) and obviously he opened to Harper so I think its sweet they are still close. Honestly, Harper giving us the confidence boost and talking about how good Mc has been for the team was so heartwarming. PB better make them besties right now. And when she said she is glad we made it through his hearing. We don’t deserve her kindness.

Raf and Bryce stans now rise. WOW! The shirtless scene with the boys playing basketball. Im romancing Ethan but I cant say I didn’t enjoy it XD. I didn’t pick the diamond scene with Bryce because I don’t want anything romantic with him but let me tell you I am so happy that everyone is being treated equally. This is what we like to see. I actually can’t believe they were thinking of removing Raf. Imagine.

Actually don’t because he is too precious.

Telling Suzette that there was nothing we could do for her was so sad. She didn’t deserve that. So obviously to help her I picked the diamond scene. It wasn’t the best scene but it was the cutest and worth the diamonds in my eyes. The costumes and us acting out a scene for the children in the hospital was so so so sweet. I didn’t really get any pictures of the interactions with the children because I was enjoying the scene too much. But it was really nice to see Mc doing what she does best. Making people happy. Mc is honestly the best doctor ever. No one can tell me anything different.

I love angry Ethan. Almost as much as I love jealous Ethan. I just love him but anywaysss... I mean don’t get me wrong I like that we are researching her condition and hopefully finding a way to help her but still. And I love her character but something is telling me he is doing this for all the wrong reasons.

Not to actually find a cure for her illness. I HATED his comment about it being his hospital and we have to follow his rules if we want to continue working here. For some reason I feel like that’s foreshadowing that some people are going to end up quitting because of him. And I swear if its any of our friends I will riot.

Like I said I think that this chapter was more of a filler for the storyline but honestly I really enjoyed it especially since we finally got to clear up this whole Harper issue. Well I wouldn’t even call it an issue, we were being forced to dislike her which I have said previously will not happen. I am thoroughly enjoying Book 3 so far and I’m super excited for the rest of the book!!!

Here's my personal ranking for Every Gorillaz Music video, based both on song and the video itself:

PHASE ONE:

Tomorrow Comes Today: 7/10. I love this song and the video fits its vibe, but its still pretty simplistic and not a whole lot of actual animation and no story, so it gets points off for that.

Clint Eastwood: 10/10. I love this one honestly. Its still so charming after all this time and showcases the band well for their early days. Love the more moody tone of it, and I always love seeing the band actually play instruments in their videos too. Bonus points for Murdoc's laugh opening this one because I love that.

Rock The House: 9/10. Pure fun. I don't have a lot of commentary for it, I just think its fun and I love the song itself too. One point off for Murdoc thrusting his hips too many times for my eyes tho.

19-2000: 10/10. This one was the first Gorillaz video that I saw and it really is just a nice non plot connected video. The 3D animation still manages to hold up because of its mix with 2D animation in my opinion and I enjoy it.

Rockit: 5/10. I like the song but the video is kinda meh.

PHASE ONE MV'S OVERALL: Overall I like phase one and I miss Del. Bring him back.

PHASE TWO:

Dirty Harry: 8/10. 2D is just vibing so hard in this video and I'm living for it. That’s all that matters. (Side note but I love the version of this video they did for the BRIT's as well.)

DARE: 10/10. Noodles time to shine, a perfect song, what more could you ask for?? (Also love the bit with Murdoc at the end of course.)

Feel Good Inc: 10/10. This one is obvious if you know me at all. Murdoc playing his bass is what sells this one for me cause I enjoy the animation. The songs amazing and one I find comforting to listen to, and the mood of the video fits it perfectly. Theres some really fun shots with lighting while 2D is standing at the window too in the tower in here that I've always liked.

El Mañana: 6/10. I love this song but it makes me sad and so does the video.

PHASE TWO MV'S OVERALL: Phase One is iconic for its art style and for being The Beginning, but Phase Two is my favorite of the two for its art. I love how these videos are animated, and even if Demon Dayz is my least favorite album, the songs in these videos are all very good. Pretty solid as a whole all things considered.

PHASE THREE:

Stylo: 10/10 LISTEN, I KNOW SOME PEOPLE HATE THE CGI, BUT I LOVE IT. It’s so expressive, this song is one of my absolute faves, I’m sorry to be such a Murdoc liker but hes so much fun in this video and so expressive and it starts the story off for Plastic Beach. I love it so much.

On Melancholy Hill: 7/10. It’s not a bad video, and I love the song a lot, but...not a lot actually happens in the video aside from the bits with Noodle. Bonus points however go to just how seamlessly it puts 2D and 3D animation together, and for how cute 2D looks this whole video.

Rhinestone Eyes: 9/10. WOULD BE A 10/10 IF WE’D GOTTEN OFFICIAL ANIMATION FOR IT ;-; (The fan animated video for it tho is Very very good and i applaud that whole team.) Amazing song, this video has the most story packed into it so far from all the other videos and it’s memorable from its storyboards for that alone.

Doncamatic: 10/10 Listen...Listen I know its a one off and it doesn't really have anything in it but I’m obsessed because its one of my favorite Gorillaz songs tbh and I love Daley’s outfit in it so it gets a full pass from it.

PHASE THREE MV’S OVERALL: I love every video this phase tbh, none of them are bad. All of them are fun,and even if Melancholy Hill is a little slow, it’s still enjoyable. I love this phase because they all connect and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way either.

PHASE FOUR:

Hallelujah Money: 7/10. It’s not at all bad, but I’m as not fond of this song, and the video itself is much too trippy for me. Still has its own merits tho that I won’t knock it for even if it’s not my personal taste.

Saturn Barz: 10/10. Everything about this video is amazing. Character designs and as a comeback for the bands animated counterparts, it was perfect. I loved hearing them actually speak again too it made the whole thing so fun. The song is fuckin awesome and it fits the vibe of the whole video. Bonus points for the more lineless animation style they gave everyone in this video, it was a really neat change from past phases. My one complaint is again stop making me see so much naked Murdoc, I may like him but not like that.

Sleeping Powder: 6/10. I am so split when it comes to the mo cap models. This songs good but the video is again too trippy for me.

Strobalite: 9/10. Would have been 10/10 if Russel got to dance with 2D and Noodle, but other than that its pretty damn good. The mo cap looks way less awkward in here, particularly Murdoc and Russel. Also hilarious that Murdoc made a deal with the devil, and the guy who played him is actually his voice actor irl. This songs too much fun to vibe to as well.

PHASE FOUR MV’S OVERALL: Not much for story, but makes up for it in updated art and great music again. Solid overall yet again. I like it.

PHASE FIVE:

Humility: 20/10. Literally every single person I know who’s seen this video loved it. The animation is Beautiful, the song is so fuckin catchy, Jack Black is in it! What more do you want!! (The only thing I could have asked for was to see more of Ace but that’s its only flaw.)

Tranz: 9/10. I love this song so much but this video is Again just a little too trippy for me. However, we get to see Ace just jamming out in this video and I’ll take the trippiness just for that.

PHASE FIVE MV’S OVERALL: I was surprised there wasn't at least one more video for this phase honestly? I feel like Kansas or Souk Eye would have made for great videos for this phase. That aside tho, both the videos it does have are a lot of fun. My literal only complaint is that I wanted to see more of Ace. Bring him back in the future.

PHASE SIX:

Momentary Bliss: 8/10. This songs fine, but what sells it for me is the video is more slice of life/a day in the life of the studio. I’m always a fan of those moments. Bonus points goes to Murdoc trying to fuckin poison Jamie and it backfiring on him.

Désolé: 10/10: ooooh this song is so beautiful...I love it so much. 2D Noodle and Russel got to have such a fun time in this video and they deserve it. And poor Murdoc, having his little sad times by his asshole self. I love him but I think he deserved it. The others needed a good break from the bullshit and I’m glad they got it.

Aries: 6/10. Video itself is kinda boring, but the song is nice. Murdoc deserved to be left behind in Désolé after what he tried to pull here.

Friday the 13th: 3/10. I don’t care for this video and I really don’t care for the song. Not much else to say.

PAC-MAN: 6/10. Video’s fine, I like some of the little details in it, but it’s nothing special. The song itself is nice tho, super calming, I like it.

Strange Timez: 20/20 MY GOD I LOVE THIS ONE SO MUCH...VISUALS ARE SO FUN, I LOVE ROBERT SMITH SO I LOVE HIM IN HERE, ITS JUST A GOOD TIME ALL AROUND!

The Pink Phantom: 5/10 I just don’t really care for this song?? I like Elton John but I couldn’t get myself to like this one no matter how many times I’ve listened. 2D got to be happy in this video tho so I’ll give it a pass.

The Valley of the Pagans: 6/10. This song fuckin slaps but the video feels like a boring redo of 19-2000 except for it’s ending. It gets points for giving everyone Plastic Beach feelings at the end and hyping up the video after it.

The Lost Chord: 20/20. Y’all knew this was coming. This was something I’d BEEN hoping for story wise and I finally got it. Was it maybe a little rushed? Yes. But GOD it was such a nice thing to see them say “hey we’ve wrapped up this part of the story for good and want everyone to move on from it, so we’ve given it a properly acknowledged final send off.” And tangibly seeing everyone's emotions laid out about the island and their times there was very nice. And  I know Jamie and Damon have stated Murdoc is irredeemable, blah blah yes I know hes an asshole still, but I WILL think about Murdoc in this video and how he seemed actually regretful and what that means to me and the fact that it was no one else but 2D himself being the one to reach out to Murdoc in the end to save him until my dying breath, thank you very much. And this song?? Fuckin beautiful, it had those Plastic Beach vibes again and felt good for it’s send off song, I love it.

PHASE SIX MV’S OVERALL: I may be a little split on some of them and on Song Machine as a whole, but tbh I love the phase six art style so much and most times the videos were pretty good. Bringing back PB in the end was something I always wanted too so it really does get bonus points from me for that. I’m 50/50 on them overall. The great ones are great, and the meh ones are just kinda boring, so it evens out in the end.

STAND ALONE VIDEOS MENTION:

Do Ya Thing: 10/10. I’ve said before I love the 3D animation and the slice of life stuff, so this one’s obviously a favorite, and you really cant go wrong with an Andre 3000 feature either. 

Superfast Jellyfish: 3/10. This song is kinda fun but I don’t give a single shit about the music video.

Garage Palace: 8/10. Very fun pixel visuals for a change along with a killer song, super enjoyable.

So what’s my final verdict on Gorillaz and their long music video history?

Honestly for a group thats been going as long as they have, I dont think they have too many misses in their catalog. The ones that aren’t as fun are just kinda there, but the videos that really stand out stand out far above the ones that don’t hit the mark as well and in the end it all feels like a good balance. No band has a perfect video every time, but the ones that Gorillaz did well they did amazing on and I enjoy it immensely when that happens.

Sidenotes after watching all of those:

For the love of god please put Russel in the videos more, please, he deserves it and I would love to see him more.

On that note, BRING DEL BACK WITH HIM TOO!!

And speaking of characters to bring back, I want Ace to come back and join Murdoc sometimes, even if its only once or twice more, I need to see them interact PLEASE.

Last note but Jamie, please, I’m begging, show less of mostly naked or fully naked of Murdoc in future videos, we’ve had our fill by now.

for tna i cant stand the plot. i hate sam. the characters, every single one of them besides m&m are insufferable. and yeah i just hate the book. if it was written in a slightly different way i’d probably read it but unfortunately it’s not 

rising tides is just boring. it reads like the typical save the environment but put forth useless ideas about doing so type of bullshit. and charlie’s annoying as all hell
