Whose your favorite OC?

Oh holy shit, I didn't know I had this function on.

ANYWHO! I think I cycle between favorites. Some are more mood based, others have stories that come to me in bursts. Right now I'm a huge fan of my new DnD kiddo Olarune. He's an Aasimar Light Cleric and honestly he's the closest I'll ever get to playing a literal Phoenix in DnD.

Someone asked me to post a WIP and explain how I draw my characters, so here we go! I'm going to give a vague description since idk what each person's program/brush tools of choice are.

First I draw a rough outline of a body, very stick figure-ish just to get a rough pose down.

Next add general lines for muscles, features, and limbs.

Refine these lines!

Rough sketch some clothes onto the body, generally I use a ref for seeing how clothes should fold and for picking outfits!

Refine!

Line everything in black. Typically I use 5-10 layers to over lap lines where I need to and erase the ends without compromising other lines. (does that make senses???)

Fill in each section with the base colors

Shade everything. Note: be sure to use more that one gradient of color! Ex: don't pick one tone of red and slide the darkness/brightness down to get three tones. Use some oranges or blues to highlight and shadow! Rarely are things one color IRL.

Do a last check to see if everything is filled in properly and you're golden!

Another good good piece of some good good boys. My friend told me this gave him Yuri On Ice vibes and honestly??? That was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. ( @lasergeist is going to yell at me eventually for tagging them, BUT THAT HASN'T HAPPENED YET, SO) The dapper lad with the painted nails and sparkle shoes belongs to lasergeist!

The best part about being an artist are the moments where you don't know what the hell you're drawing until you're halfway through the sketch. I didn't think I was going to draw a Friend, but here we are and I love him very much. My mom decided to name him Lewis. ❤️
