i wish i knew enough people in the real world who i could talk to about the thematic masterpiece that is the raven cycle because like

it's about the ways the characters process their trauma/coping mechanisms as they grow up, right? and the way people actually do this processing in real life is through dreams. you know what else is basically a real life dream???

should graphic descriptions of violence/gore be avoided in the prologue of a book? like is it something you save for later on when the reader is more invested, or is it ok to introduce that in the very beginning?

okay we all know and accept that neil is demisexual right? but like, what about andrew? i feel like it's safe to say he's not demisexual, but he kinda seems like he could be on the demiromantic spectrum? he obviously was sexually attracted to roland and neil, but he only ever had romantic feelings for neil (we don't really know if he had actual romantic crushes before)

just reread the raven king and currently thinking about the fact that when renee says "andrew doesn't believe in regret" she doesn't mean "andrew doesn't experience regret" only that he refuses to acknowledge it or influence his future decisions.

like after the drake scene in book 2, andrew kind of snaps at neil and reminds him that it was to some degree his fault. from my perspective, it seemed like he was somewhat angry with himself and neil for allowing this to happen (thus, experiencing regret).

the point im trying to make is that i dont think andrew can't experience regret he just chooses to move on and ironically me thinking about this mindset has done more for my mental health than therapy has.

In sophomore year of high school, I wrote a personal essay (that I sort of trauma dumped in) where I wrote that "I was raised as a doormat and scolded for wanting anything in return."

Kind of a shit analogy on my part, but this reminded me of that.
