Life Update
Tumblr media
I’m alive!!
I am so sorry for my little hiatus, but I can’t say it won’t happen again. Saying that would be unrealistic :’)
I’m not going to go into *full* details for the sake of my privacy, but I can share a tiny bit of what’s going on.
The first thing is that I forgot that I was actually posting on Tumblr again. AHAHA
I genuinely forgot that this existed
The second thing is way more complicated.
I messed up my school schedule because I switched into remote two weeks into the new semester :’)
What that means is basically: I was stupidly behind in my classes.
I’ve pretty much been playing catch up for a few days.
Don’t worry! I can happily say I’m doing better :D
Anyway, I’m going to actually attempt to write some stuff now.
HAHA BYE
EDIT OMFG WHY DID I END SO MANY SENTENCES WITH NOW OMG I FIXED IT BAHAHA THIS AINT SOME POETRY STUFF

What their Bowling Balls look like
Assuming that Iida, Momo, and Shoto team up and get their friends beautiful bowling balls for the UA Bowling Alley <3
The actual brands do not matter here- Going by aesthetics only
Not many read my bowling series but IDC! I will ride this wagon till the wheels fall off!
Starting off with my self proclaimed DREAM TEAM!
Katsuki Bakugo
- it is a great strike ball for him (I can’t describe so here)
- carved into the ball : “King Explosion Striker”
-
Tumblr media
- He loves this ball
- it is drilled for his hand and it works well for him
-
Tenya Iida
- He loves his ball
- it is ideal for his straight shots
- his name is on it
Tumblr media
Sero Hanta
- This ball should be self explanatory.
- His ball has his hero name on it :)
- His ball has a fantastic hook
Tumblr media
Shoto Todoroki
- No, it is not a split ball
- ^ I don’t know if that would work
- he just has a normal ball
Tumblr media
- something like this. That- or he got a plain white bowling ball to piss off his father
- his ball doesn’t need to do anything fancy, he will make it work regardless
Hitoshi Shinso
- Need I explain more?
- it just gives him vibes
- his hero name is definitely on his ball
- Like Shoto, his ball doesn’t have to be anything fancy

Headcanons about Shoto that I am going to be convinced are true for life.
Tumblr media
These are going to be a mix of fluff, angst, and anything like that.
I would try to organize them, but they are honestly just going to be a brain dump. I may go into more detail on these in the future but honestly who knows.
1: Category: Not happy at all.
Endeavor likely put Shoto in a bunch of sports to build agility, balance, and other skills.  However, because he sucks, (this is an endeavor hate page btw) he only let Shoto be in sports that he could do by himself. No team sports.
one of these sports was figure skating. Shoto went really far in this sport. He really enjoyed doing it, because when he was out on the ice: he wasn’t Shoto Todoroki, a person who only existed to surpass All Might, he was just a figure skater.
Things were great until he asked Endeavor to try a competition. Their talk did not go well. He lectured Shoto, asking him why he was losing focus on becoming a hero. Was it because Endeavor didn’t do enough for him? Was it because he was being ungrateful for everything Endeavor did do?
Needless to say, Shoto did not ask to compete in another competition. He didn’t even have permission to skate anymore. His father cancelled his lessons and upped his training. Clearly, if Shoto thought he wasn’t doing enough for him in the hero aspect, Endeavor needed to be doing more.
One time while running laps in a nearby abandoned park, Shoto found a pond.
Even after he went to UA, when he has a harsh training day, or something was bringing him down, he goes to this pond with his skates. Once there, he freezes the water, puts his skates on, and preforms his old routine he was planning to compete with, desperately trying to recreate the one place he truly felt safe.
-
2. Category; Happy.
If frozen exists there, some of his classmates begged for him to recreate the beginning of the movie where Anna is playing with the snow Elsa makes her. When they do, he has to awkwardly explain that he can only make ice, and offers to make them an ice skating rink. (Wonder how he knows how to do that?) They agree and he watches them slide around with a small smile on his face, continuing to watch them even when Izuku joins him with Hot Chocolate for the both of them.
-
3. Category: Love?
I fully believe that Shoto is demisexual but Bi Romantic. He would definitely prefer to date a male, but if he fell in love with a girl, he would not be opposed at all.
I feel like to subconsciously get back at his father, he would specifically *only* date either quirkless people, or people with a quirk that wouldn’t make his better in the next gen. for example, he wouldn’t want to date an earth bender cause it could breed a person who could control all the elements in the future. You know?
Choosing things like that makes him feel like he has more power against his father.
-
4. Category: Love?
Izuku was his bi awakening. Even if they do not end up together, Izuku was definitely the first male he ever had feelings for. Their friendship is NOT just friends, at least on Shoto’s end. He even told his mom about him. The woman he puts above EVERYONE
-
5. Category: Holiday.
When Shoto gives you a gift, sure it will be expensive, but it will also have great meaning behind it.
In his family, they usually were given something shiny as compensation for a lack of emotional attention. (This is post mom go cray cray)
So, when he is giving you a gift, it will either be something nice and well thought of, OR he will give you a gift via experience.
AKA, he would rather take you on vacation than anything, because it takes a lot of time and effort to plan a trip, so you know he was thinking about you a lot.
plus it would be funny if it was like,
“happy birthday... I heard you always wanted to go to Paris, so we are leaving tomorrow.”

Bowling with the Dekusquad
Tumblr media
They are the type of group that would be casual about bowling, but I am going to make a separate post about if they were to enter tournaments like the Bakusquad.
to clarify, the Dekusquad 5 in this situation is Izuku, Iida, Uraraka, Tsuyu, and Shoto. There might be others who join them in bowling occasionally, but this is the main group.
Here is the first post in the series! https://iceyhotbnha.tumblr.com/post/636700525772013569/bowling-with-the-bakusquad
-They are much more chill about bowling.
-There wouldn’t be much yelling, (mostly because of Iida) but they still would get excited for you when you do good
- Instead of aggressive motivation, (*cough* Bakugo) they use gentler tactics.
- Uraraka would just gently tap your shoulder (not activating quirk) and be like “It’s okay, just do better on the next one!”
-I fully believe Iida is the best bowler out of the five. I seriously don’t know why and can’t explain my answer, but it just feels right.
- Todoroki would be really good too. Not like how he is at ice skating, but still really good.
- He is the type that would throw a perfect strike and just not react. Mans could really seem like he doesn’t care, but he is mentally screaming.
- I am definitely going to do a different post about their bowling balls because I could go on and on about them!
- My boy Deku overthinks bowling. I feel like he is the type that would know all the terms and method, but be screwed as far as doing it himself.
-Tsuyu would help him out. I feel like she is pretty good, not pro level, but enough to hold her own against Denki or Kirishima in a 1 v 1 for sure.
- I feel Tsuyu wouldn’t necessarily like bowling, but she simps for Uraraka and does it because she wanted her to.
- Todoroki is also teaching Izuku and he is slowly getting better, so it is all okay.
Tumblr media
- Can I just say.. Shoto would be the most GRACEFUL person out there. He makes his throw look so cohesive and smooth.. it’s figure skater in him for sure.
- Iida.. I do not know why... Throws his ball unnecessarily hard. Like it would go 20 miles an hour. He probably knocks them all down by brute force (jk that’s shoji)
- Seriously, I like to think they prefer to bowl at the Iida family private bowling alley. (jk, but what if that existed?)
- Uraraka.. she LOVES the team and playing with others aspect of bowling.
- She is the type of person where the people she is playing around or with makes or breaks her game.
- if they are loud and startle her, she will crash and burn.. but if they are quiet or cheering for her she will do fantastic.
- I didn’t put it in their post but Denki is this type of bowler too.
- brb obsessing over Todoroki being graceful at throwing the ball again
- no seriously people stop and watch him when he bowls
- they do that with Iida too because he startles people with how loud the pins go down.
- Izuku is an underdog in literally everything, so bowling is not an exception, if you get the vibe lol
- Like I said before, bowling is not something they do professionally or past the average level. If they do it, it would be an occasional thing.
Tumblr media
EXCEPT for Todoroki and Iida.
Todoroki and Iida would team up with Bakugo, Sero, and Shinso (Who I also feel like would be good at bowling) and become
“The Dream team”
They would go beyond local level and not even bat an eye.
More on that a different post.
Bakugo and Shoto (after they become close) would do duo tournaments occasionally.
They would do it more often, but Endeavor is a jerk and doesn’t let him pursue it more than the Dream Team. Claims he needs to focus on being a hero *eye roll*

He really would be the best boyfriend
hii can i request deku x reader dating him headcannons?
Hii, how are you? I hope you really like this, I love Deku so much 🥺🥺🥺
Izuku Midoriya dating headcanons.
Pairing: Izuku Midoriya (Deku) x Reader.
I feel like Deku would feel attraction for his s/o really fast but would be "rational" about his crush on you.
But once he realizes he really likes you he will ask you out, maybe a bit shy and flustered but he will do it.
Once you start dating BOY WILL GO FULL SIMP.
Like you can do anything and he will have heart eyes.
He will admire you and also support you and encourage you to be better version of yourself you can be.
If you are the type of person to get stressed easily I feel like he will try and take you on dates or maybe just spend time with you so you don't overwork yourself.
He will always be happy and tell you how proud he is by every little achievement you make.
If you have a rough time starting time he will try and help you the best he can.
Will be so nervous to present you to his mom.
And will also be so nervous to meet your parents (or any adult figure that takes care on you) the more important the person is for you the more nervous he will be.
But he will try to "play it cool" and sometimes fail.
If you see him train he will try his best to win so he can impress.
Even tho he doesn't need to, you know how good he is.
To summarize, he will be the best boyfriend ever.

Hi! Could I request headcanons for Bakugo and shinsou with an s/o who gets really anxious in public but doesn't tell them bc they dont want to be a bother? But there are signs yk like neck scratching fast breathing and excessive mumbling. It's ok if you dont want to tho! I hope you have a good day/night :)
I RELATE TO THIS SM I WOULS LOVE TO WRITE THIS!!! Thank you for the request baby:D
Tumblr media
•bakugo is a very observant person
•and since he’s in a relationship with you he naturally is always keeping an eye out
•I think he wouldn’t wanna embarrass you by making it known that you want to leave
•he would probably put the attention on him in order to make it known you’re leaving
•”tch. Hey idiots. I have better things to do, y/n and I are gonna head out now.”
•he doesn’t let them get a proper goodbye, dragging you away with him
•”hey, don’t worry. We’ll be home soon, you can calm down there. Just focus on me for now.”
•keeps a grip on your hand, allowing you to squeeze as hard as you want in order to ground yourself
•when you get home you start apologizing but he cuts you off
•”tch. Dumbass, if you needed to get out of there that’s ok. I don’t mind leaving early because you need a break. I need a break sometimes too so it’s fine.”
•uncharacteristically sweet in these situations so you might get suspicious but he just knows not to push you when you’re like that
•Katsuki when he’s not feral🥰
Tumblr media
•in public he likes to be touching you
•he likes holding your hand or having an arm around you
•he likes to keep you close
•so he feels it when you start breathing heavier or when you start scratching your neck
•he doesn’t care enough to offer an explanation
•he just kinda grabs your hand and walks away
•when people start questioning he just says he’s gonna take a nap
•and no one stops him bc dear god he needs sleep
•he doesn’t ask any questions, just gets you water and holds you until you’re calmer
•you thank him and he tells you it’s no problem and you just put on tv
•it’s a good thing he’s a homebody anyways

Bowling with the Bakusquad
Tumblr media
Coming from a Bowling Alley rat, I have been thinking about this for a long time. Oh yeah, If you didn’t know, I am in a bowling league :’) My average is 109 so I am no where near pro standards but I am getting there!
- They are literally the best hypesquad you can ask for.
- you get a strike? They will scream (like the gif), and Sero will do a backflip.
- can he do a backflip? No one knows, but he will try
- you guys would be so distracting to other bowlers, holy crap
-I feel like Bakugo is good at EVERYTHING, (naturally or not) and bowling is no exception
- Denki.. on the other hand.. Not so much. He tries, but he would fry his brain trying to charge his ball so the throw is more powerful.
- Going off Bakugo being really good.. He definitely was that kid who got thrown into sports to try to control his temper and bowling was one of them. He stuck with bowling though because it has options for both team and singular.
- If you guys split into teams to try to beat each other, (combining scores) you actually WANT Bakugo on your team.
- He will yell to distract the others but motivate your team at the same time.
- if you are distracted and overthinking it, he is going to be the one to snap you back into it.
- “Get your head out of your ass and throw the ball”
Tumblr media
-Mina would be so much fun to bowl with
- they all would really, in their own ways.
- Kiri is the best teammate to have in high stress situation though~
- oh you KNOW the Bakusquad has challenged Dekusquad to a bowling match
- I am so down to make headcanons for that!
-anyway back to the Bakusquad.
- Sero throws without using the holes. He is one of THOSE guys.
- it pays off, I like to think he is 2nd to Bakugo with skills.
- Mina and Denki are the type to throw Granny style during a just for fun time as a joke (never during a tournament or playing the Dekusquad cause dear god Baku would kill them)
- Mina definitely has a pink ball. For her birthday the others got her one that says “Alien Queen” on the side and she is IN LOVE with it.
- I feel like when they realized that their team is actually really good they would enter team tournaments for shits and giggles
- like that’s how they spend their time instead of killing people *cough* dekusquad
- ALSO! they did ask Jirou if she wanted in, but she told them that she just wanted to focus on music.
Tumblr media
- They prefer to enter tournaments that use the 5 person Baker Team format. What that is:
With five-person teams, the first bowler bowls frames 1 and 6, the second bowler bowls frames 2 and 7 and so forth, with the fifth bowler bowling frames 5 and 10.
They are the type of team to plan this strategically.
In five-person Baker competition, a strategic lineup is crucial. You want your best bowler to bowl last as the anchor, as it will be his or her job to bowl the all-important tenth frame. In order to maximize that final push, you'll need a fourth bowler who will bowl the ninth frame with a high likelihood of striking or, worst case, sparing.
If you were wondering, this is their order. (Why am I being this critical BYE)
1. Mina - Frames 1 and 6
(Denki and Mina’s orders didn’t matter much and she insisted that she wanted to be their first impression)
2. Denki- Frames 2 and 7
3. Kirishima- Frames 3 and 8
4. Sero- frames 4 and 9
5. Bakugo- Frames 5 and 10, aka the Anchor
They practice for this shit for WEEKS.
-Bakugo does make them study and practice for hero stuff in between, but they still are focused on winning the tournament. Hero stuff can wait, they have a lifetime for that but apparently there is only one tournament a year (in Denki’s words)
-Principal Nezu is totally cool with letting them off campus to go practice too, he figures it’s better than them smoking weed or something worse.
- but no one else would know that they actually ended up pursuing tournaments, so one day they would just come back from a weekend with metals around their necks and Bakugo is carrying a trophy with a bowling ball on it and everyone else is like 0_0
In conclusion:
Team Bakusquad really is a great group to bowl with. I would bowl with any of them, but I feel like they would challenge me to be my best.

Back to School Shopping with their S/O would be like..
Inspired by the fact that a lot of people are going back to school this week. Enjoy!
Izuku Midoriya
- This man is all over the All Might stationary
- you would think he would be embarrassed since it is his teacher now but he has no shame
-Unlike him being a mess without you, with you he :
- helps you find everything you need first
- gets matching notebooks with you
- carries the bags
- insists on buying before you beat him to paying anyway
- this bean is not spending a penny on you if you have a say when it is your supplies
- you let him buy you food to make up for it
Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugo
-he is super duper competitive in life so being competitive for sales and discounts should not be surprising
-he WILL beat a child to the discounted notebooks if you want the unicorn one
-he will not allow you to see what he bought for his own supplies until the first day of school
- not because he also bought an all might notebook or anything
- he is the 2nd most chaotic shopping buddy you would ever have
- can I mention that he will tackle a mom to get you something you want if it is the last one there?
-god forbid you just go to a different store- he will get you THAT ONE.
- he means well though and please try to keep that in mind if you get kicked out
Tumblr media
Shoto Todoroki
-probably the most behaved one of the three
-will calmly take you and get both of your lists done at the same time.
- he doesn’t care how expensive things are, he will use Endeavor’s money to buy both your supplies
- So if you want that five star notebook- GET IT
-he will buy you the most expensive things without a care in the world
-like Midoriya, he will carry the bags
- takes you to some stores to do clothing shopping at the same time
- if you refuse to have him buy you more things, he will respond by buying them without telling you
- and maybe even take you to Chanel after you leave the clothing store~

My never ending quest to write about nitroglycerin continues.
Katsuki Bakugou has no scars.
Everything about him, from his punk appearance, to his explosive quirk, to his harsh personality, to his line of work, all suggest that he should have scars, but he has none. No harsh pale lines, no canyons in his flesh, no discolorations or even outlines of past wounds mar his skin.
When people think of his quirk, they think of the explosions. Bright lights, loud noises, fast movement, and heat. Most people think of it as a slightly altered pyromancy quirk. Sure looks like one.
Only it’s not. It’s not even related to pyromancy. Katsuki doesn’t summon heat, he sweats nitroglycerin which he can ignite. The differences are subtle to an outside observer, but to him it’s like night and day.
The nitroglycerin runs in his blood. Varieties of it anyways. His very cells are altered to handle the chemical. Day to day, it doesn’t change much. Not that others notice at any rate.
He has to be careful with bleeding wounds since his blood pressure runs low. Touching other people can be dangerous if he’s sweating, this stuff is toxic as shit. Gotta be careful around heat obviously. It’s little things that set his quirk apart from simple pyromancy .
One of many side effects is Katsuki heals quickly. It’s not much to anyone else, not like he can regenerate limbs or anything impressive. He just heals 20-30% more quickly than an average person. That, and he doesn’t scar. His skin heals back flawlessly and smooth as it was before. Nothing lingers more than a month.
You’d think this is good thing. Maybe it is. Scar tissue isn’t ideal, particularly for internal damage. Katsuki certainly thinks of it as a good thing most of the time. It means there’s no reminders left on his skin of the times he’s fucked up. Nothing to break the untouchable image of a flawless warrior. People look at him and they only see unbroken flesh, allowing him the illusion of someone who has suffered no harm.
For as long as he can remember, Katsuki has been called talented, a natural born warrior, good at things from birth. At some point, it stop being a compliment and started being something that was required of him. Required to not let any pain or struggles show, to pretend everything comes easily to him, because if he falters they’ll be on him like vultures.
Katsuki Bakugou is gifted, he’s got a naturally powerful quirk, he’s naturally smart, he’s naturally good at fighting. He can’t make mistakes and learn from them, because he’s talented.
Classmates comment on it in the locker room every so often. How he’s lucky to not have any scars. How impressive it is he made it this far without getting hurt.
Recovery Girl has commented on it once or twice, it’s so nice to see at least one young hero who knows to take care of themselves. So many of the students she sees are covered up and down in scars from their childhood, but Katsuki bares none. He must have been a careful child.
Katsuki stays quiet and says nothing, because that’s exactly what he wants them to see. That’s what he needs them to see. That’s what he’s required to let them see.
Sometimes he can almost convince himself it’s true, if he tries hard enough. There’s no scars left behind on his skin, so maybe the injuries never really happened.
Obviously, they couldn’t have been that bad. If his past injuries had actually been bad, it would’ve left a mark. The pain he remembers was his own weakness. For all he knows, he imagined the pain. It’s not real anymore, maybe it never was.
After all, what proof does he have of being young and smashing his arm on rocks; when nobody came and he was forced to drag himself back home? What proof does he have of the older kid who slashed his shoulder with a knife; a knife which struck at his throat only to miss by a breathe? What proof does he have, of the burns Dabi’s fingertips left on his neck as he was pulled through the portal; burns that healed after a day or two but he felt for weeks afterwards? Sure, he can feel the memories replayed again and again as he tries to sleep, but there’s no marks left behind on his skin. No real proof.
Who knows if any of that really happened, or maybe he made the whole thing up. Maybe the images that haunt his nightmares are his imagination. His traitorous mind is playing tricks on him. Trying to justify his weakness, trying to get other’s pity. Right?
At some point, Class 1-A is gathered in the common room, swapping the stories behind their scars. Izuku scars easily, so beyond his hands, he’s got a bunch of scars from silly childhood stories. Shouto only shares one or two stories, little pink scars from mishaps with his siblings. The obvious one is left alone. It’s easy for them, to point to a mark and talk about the mistake behind it. Marks telling the tale of the battles they’ve survived. Everyone shares their stories of pain, of how they’ve fought, how they’ve suffered, and they find a comfort in knowing they aren’t alone. Nobody says they’re making the story up for attention. Everyone has the scars right there to prove it. Everyone but Katsuki.
When one of the girls, Uraraka, calls on Katsuki to share a scar, he responds he doesn’t have any. She tries to call bullshit, there’s no way he doesn’t have any scars. Not with how many battle she’s seen him fight. To her surprise, several of the guys back him up.
“Katsuki’s telling the truth, he doesn’t have any scars. Not even a scratch or a little one, nothing! It’s really impressive, even I’ve got one.” Kirishima responds, his tone bright and awed.
“Wait, that can’t be right. I’ve seen him take hits that should’ve left something.”
“I don’t get scars, fucker. My skin’s tougher than that.”
Before an argument can break out, Izuku pipes up and explains he’s pretty sure it’s a side effect of Katsuki’s quirk. It makes sense, so everyone moves on to another set of stories, but not before someone makes a comment that sticks in the back of their minds.
“Man, you could mess up a bunch, and nobody’d ever know. Lucky!”
That night, Katsuki couldn’t sleep. He’d pace his room instead, trying not to let it bother him. It’s hard though, as much as he tries to believe he likes his lack of scars, he likes that others don’t know what he’s been through, he likes looking untouchable, it’s hard.
Every time he sees Izuku’s scarred hands, reminding everyone of how hard Izuku has worked to get where he is, there’s an odd twinge of jealousy in his gut. People like to call Izuku a hard worker, his dedication is on display for the whole world to see. Katsuki’s hands are blemish free, as they’ve always been.
Nobody sees the years of burns, of blisters, of heavily injured fingers and so much fucking pain that he’s suffered through. They see clear, pretty skin, and they call Katsuki gifted. They call him talented. Then they turn around and call Izuku determined and hard-working and it stings deep down. Makes him wonder if all that pain was real, or if he just made it up.
That night he gives in and does something he hasn’t in a long time. He gets out a set of skin tone markers he got ages ago, and he starts fixing his skin.
Katsuki’s careful about his work. It doesn’t need to be photorealistic, but he wants the illusion. To have it look right at a glance. Enough that he can pretend they’re real for a little bit.
He draws on every scar he doesn’t have, or at least, all the ones he can remember. Every injury he’s gotten which should’ve left a mark on his skin, should’ve left him with a story to tell, but was stolen from him.
Every struggle nobody else could see, every injury he’s suffered through alone, and every battle he’s survived people will never know he fought.
There’s a lot of them, a lot of scars he’s been cheated out of over the years.
Katsuki draws each back onto his skin, remembering the story behind it, reminding himself that it was real. It actually happened. He didn’t imagine it. He has been through some shit in his life, and he wasn’t making it up.
Some are harder. The ovals on the back of his neck are particularly shaky, but his chest feels lighter once the ink dries. His hands are stained with the markers, from drawing on all the other scars, and from how many scars he has to add to them. At some point his hands are so messy that you can’t tell where one scar ends and where another starts. That feels right, so he leaves it once the individual marks can’t be made out.
Line by line, Katsuki reclaims his scars. Reclaims his stories, his battles, his pain. It takes him quite awhile, there’s so much that’s been taken from him.
Eventually though, he finishes, and dares looking in his mirror.
It’s not a pretty sight, but it brings a rare smile to his lips. His skin looks flawed, marred, battle worn, and human. It looks like it’s his.
Finally, he can sleep, now all his stories are made physical. Now his pain is real again, and he can remind himself his nightmares are not without cause. They haunt him no matter what he does, but it’s easier to relive those memories with lines on his skin to prove to he faced each nightmare down and he survived.
First thing in the morning, before anyone else woke up, he’ll wash the marker off, scrubbing himself clean of his imperfections. Returning to his flawless skin, to the untouchable ideal people made him out to be. Returning to being gifted and talented.
Katsuki wonders sometimes, what would happen if he didn’t wash the marker off. If he let others see all the scars he should have. If he let them see his mistakes, his hard-work, his battles.
Would he finally get a chance to tell them his stories?
It’s a dumb idea, he knows it is. His scars aren’t real like theirs. His wash away with water, and only his own mind knows where they should be. Nobody would listen to stories told in marker, they’d call him a liar. Attention seeking. Pathetic.
He’s not some weakling that wants their pity. So he’s dealt with some pain in his life, boo-fucking-hoo. It’s ridiculous for him to want to talk about his mistakes. What kind of awful hero would admit to fucking up? What kind of stupid hero would willing tell others they aren’t perfect?
What kind of weak hero would want scars?
Katsuki scrubs his skin red and raw, until the water finally runs clear. Red eyes watching the colors swirl away down the drain. Ignoring the clench of his chest, his strange feeling of loss.
When he steps out of the shower, he’s clean again. His towel traces over smooth, flawless skin, and he has to remind himself it’s really his.
It’s not that cold out, but Katsuki dresses warmly anyways. It’s called being prepared for the weather, and it has nothing to do with not wanting to see his own flesh. His skin is fucking perfect, why wouldn’t he want to see it?
The markers are tucked away, back to a box hidden in the corner of his closet. This won’t happen again, Katsuki promises himself. He said the same thing last time.
Eventually he’ll break this promise too, when it all becomes too much. He’ll reclaim his scars once more, because he needs them.
Needs to draw his stories back onto his skin, to remind himself they happened.
Needs to pretend, for a little bit at least, his pain is as real as everyone else’s.
Needs to be human, even if other people refuse to see him as such.

Bravo to your Katsuki is not allowed to be weak (if he is he dies) post. That’s actually why I sometimes have to take a break from reading fanfics we’re adults berate him for his mindset and for not coming forward and handling the fall outs of these incidents himself. Bc canon shows us Katsuki was never offered the chance, was never viewed that way. It isn’t just his pride hindering him, it is the world that continues to fail him. And he doesn’t fault the world for it -he fights to protect it.
You know what bothered me about the Licensing Exam / Provisional Training Arc?
Katsuki fails his exam because of the rescue aspect. He fails because he doesn’t go help people and focuses on trying to fight the villain instead. He assumes those people will get themselves to safety, and he’s punished for that.
But isn’t that exactly what’s been done to him, time and time again? No wonder he thinks that’s how a hero is supposed to behave, that’s how heroes have always behaved towards him. 6 pro heroes, “good” pro heroes showed up to the Sludge Villain fight. Nobody did shit to save him, and they forced/expected him to it handle on his own for ages until Izuku got involved and All-Might saved them both.
The kidnapping was even worse. There were, what, ten pros involved? Not low ranking pros either, these were all supposed to be the best of the best.
And once again, none of them do shit to save him.
The heroes break into the bar, they get the villains restrained, and then... they just pause. All-Might was literally right there. Gran Torino was right there. Either of them, fuck, anyone could’ve grabbed Katsuki and gotten him the hell out of the bar. That’s absolutely what they should’ve done. Their priority should’ve been getting the child whose been kidnapped for 2 days now, off the battlefield and to a safe location. But it wasn’t, and they didn’t.
I’m not saying Katsuki should’ve passed his exam, he shouldn’t have, but god, I’m a bit miffed that it’s never really acknowledged/dealt with that Katsuki was only mimicking the way he’s been treated by a dozen or so pros.
The double standard is something I want to explore at some point. Not just about the rescue aspect, but also stuff like the sports festival. I’ve got a few vague ideas for it, and it’s gonna show up in the forced family au in a few forms, but I’m still not sure exactly how I wanna tackle it.

Text
I’ve been thinking about the Sludge Villain attack again. It stays on my mind a lot, and I think that’s because it exemplifies on of the important yet often overlooked facet of Katsuki’s character.
Katsuki Bakugou, is not allowed to make mistakes. He is not allowed to be weak.
It’s not just that he doesn’t allow himself to make mistakes, it’s not just that he’s a perfectionist by nature, or even that he has a parent holding him to impossible standards. Those things all might be true too, but it’s deeper than that. It’s a universal truth, save for when Izuku gets involved. And that Sludge Villain shows that to the reader in Chapter 1.
See, Katsuki and Izuku were both attacked by the Sludge Villain. Yet their experiences that day are as different as day and night.
Izuku, when he was attacked by the Sludge Villain, was weak. Obviously. He’s a 14 year old, and nobody should expect him to be able to fight off any adult trying to murder him, let alone one with super powers. And nobody did. Izuku was saved within seconds. He recalls the experience as painful, but it was extremely brief, and All-Might was right there to help him. He waited for Izuku to get back up and asked him if he was okay afterwards.
Katsuki, when he was attacked by the Sludge Villain, was not allowed to be weak. All-Might was not there to save him seconds after he was attack. Nobody was there to save him. If Katsuki hadn’t fought back, if he hadn’t been strong enough at age 14 to fight a fully fledged adult with super powers, if he’d paused, if he’d made a mistake, he would be dead. Plain and simple.
It is not a short period either, Katsuki is fighting right after All-Might drops the villain. After that point, Izuku and All-Might have their talk, Izuku walks down the stairs of the building they’re on, and he walks for quite a ways before he happens upon the scene. In that same time, 6 or 7 heroes have shown up on the scene, a crowd forms to watch, police have arrived, and a TON of damage has been done from the resulting fight. It’s never stated how long it is, but given all that happens in the middle, I honestly think it must’ve been 20-30 minutes of Katsuki fighting. 20-30 minutes of a 14 year old fighting for his life, where if he is weak, he will die.
Heroes show up, but none of them are there to save Katsuki. They see him, with his quirk, with his struggle, see that he is a child, and they bank on him holding out rather than doing anything themselves. Even the crowd knows he’s a middle schooler. The heroes knew. They knew the sludge villain was trying to kill Katsuki. They knew, and they stood there, and they assumed he’d be strong enough on his own.
All-Might got there before Izuku. He saw. He knew too. He stood there, and he watched for however long (a minute? five? ten?) as a child was strangled in front of him. He stood there and watched as Katsuki fought for his life, and he did nothing.
Everyone else did nothing. They watched, and they assumed Katsuki would be strong. They forced Katsuki to be strong. The universe forced Katsuki to be strong.
Everyone else, except for Izuku. Who saw Katsuki as human, as weak, as desperately needing help and who tried to help him.
It was a bad idea for Izuku to get involved. He wasn’t able to do anything against the sludge villain, besides maybe buy Katsuki a minute at most. It was a mistake, one that almost killed him.
But the difference between Izuku and Katsuki is that Izuku is allowed to make mistakes. So All-Might, who had stood by and watched before, jumps in and saves them. Katsuki wasn’t enough on his own to warrant saving. He was not allowed to be weak. He was forced to be strong, and be strong, and be strong, until finally Izuku arrived and only then was he finally allowed to be weak.
Afterwards, Katsuki is offered no comfort. His strength is praised, and that’s it. He is not asked if he is okay. He is not given any medical treatment that we see. He’s allowed to walk home alone afterwards. He is left to walk home alone afterwards. To handle the aftermath alone.
Izuku Midoriya was attacked by the sludge villain and he was saved within seconds. He was weak, he was a child, and he was fine. There was someone there to save him right away.
Katsuki Bakugou was attacked by the sludge villain, and he was forced to fight for his life. He was not allowed to be weak, to be a child. If he had been, he would’ve been dead. Only one person came to save him, and only after he’d fought for his own life through immense pain and danger. The only person whose ever come to save him.
We see this reoccurring theme constantly throughout the series. Even Katsuki’s quirk, which he’s had since he was four, is a quirk that does not allow for mistakes. If Izuku lost control of himself when he was 5 or 6 or 7, he might’ve left someone with a nasty bruise. If Katsuki lost control of himself when he was 5 or 6 or 7, he could’ve killed someone. Easily. It would’ve only taken moments. Even if he wasn’t angry, even if he was happy, and his mind just slipped and a spark set something off, that’s all it would’ve taken. That’s it.
Katsuki is kidnapped, and it happens again. Heroes show up, but they don’t save him. They restrain the villains, sure, but nobody evacuates the hostage, the civilian, the child, to safety. They had heroes to spare, and nobody even tells Katsuki to exit the building, to get himself to a safer location. The heroes are there to fight the villains, not to save him. As a result, Katsuki is teleported out of the bar and forced to fight for his life again. Against 7 fully fledged villains this time. Even when the others show up, even when Izuku comes yet again (with help this time), and once more moves to save Katsuki, Izuku’s plan relies on Katsuki going to them. It relies not on them saving Katsuki, but on Katsuki saving himself. If Katsuki hadn’t been strong enough to fight 7 villains alone, if he hadn’t flown high enough to grab Kirishima’s hand, if he’d made any mistakes, that would’ve been it.
Afterwards, he’s offered no comfort we see. He’s called weak for having been kidnapped at all, he’s blamed for All-Might’s fall, and he’s left alone to handle the fallout. He’s forced to be strong once more. Again and again.
Katsuki isn’t just someone who hates being weak, or won’t let himself be weak. He’s someone that isn’t allowed to be weak. If he was, he’d be dead, plain and simple. It’s not just expectations he’s put upon himself, it’s what’s required of him to stay alive. Everyone but Izuku expects it of him, they require it from him, and it’s not until Izuku steps in that anything changes, and so often that intervention only comes after Katsuki has withstood so much more than should ever be asked of a child.
Katsuki Bakugou is strong, incredibly, incredibly so, but is he strong because he wanted to be? Or is he strong because his only other option was death? Because he was never allowed to be anything else?

How does abolishing the police work? I mean yeah I don't want people thrown into the legal system or worse for petty crimes but I kinda want murders investigated and such. Restorative justice is fine and good when our society as a whole is transformed but it's an endgame not a starting point. It's not going work with the way society as whole functions now.
This is a great question! “Abolish the police” and “Defund the police” are slogans which actually capture a couple of different policy models, and there’s an emerging conversation right now about what they would look like and which is best. I don’t mean to say that they’re necessarily slogans without a policy, but they are slogans serving as a rallying point for a variety of people trying to imagine and formulate what a modern post-police society would look like.
I’m a fan of “defund the police” more, for reasons I’ll go into in a second. But there’s a lot of other ideas as well. “Abolish the police” is most frequently used by anarchists who would like to go even further. But outside the context of Ideal Anarchist Communism, the majority of anarchists I’ve talked to about this will eventually concede the need for some group to guarantee the enforcement of community rules, they just refuse to call that group “police” or those rules “laws.” Ultimately, I would agree that “abolish the police” is something of an endgame slogan, a phrase capturing what an ideal scenario might entail. But that sort of thing serves to confuse the vast majority of people, who are entirely unacquainted with any of this discourse.
Like I said, I like “defund the police.” By this, I mean dramatically cutting police departments and reducing the roles of police officers, transferring resources to social services to actually address root causes and reduce crime before cops are ever even involved- something which can absolutely be done in most cases! What remains of the police should also be heavily restructured towards non-violence, but in my mind’s model a small police force would remain to investigate and handle public violence and certain other crimes.
To get a handle on what this looks like, it’s valuable to imagine what roles the police and the justice system currently handle that could be better handled by someone else. This a good corrective to most people’s acceptance of the fact that we give cops tons of different jobs related to managing the failures of society, and that most can be eliminated by the very existence of a better society!
Cops deal with especially high rates of crime from young people (29% of 2016 arrests were of people age 16-24). What if we funded a national program to remove lead from paint and other housing materials, since we know for a fact that environmental lead poisoning during childhood has strong negative impacts on mental development, in a way that has been tied to significantly higher crime rates. Not to mention the reductions in youth crime that could be achieved by better public schools, free mental healthcare and counseling, free afterschool programs, public community centers, and on and on. In addition, we have known for over 20 years that targeted early childhood interventions have been dramatically more effective at stopping crime than tough sentencing laws.
Cops do welfare checks, checking on people that others are concerned about to make sure they’re OK. Couldn’t these and many other similar roles better be handled by community-based mental health initiatives?
Cops do traffic stops. What about an entirely separate, unarmed civil organization for traffic patrol? Or if you feel leaving them too unarmed would be dangerous, what about locking a firearm in cruiser trunks that the patrol is only authorized to use when a driver is confirmed to be armed and aggressive? There are degrees of disarmament worth considering for different functions! (Also worth noting that better public transit systems would reduce traffic violations by definition, as less people would be driving).
Cops clear out homeless camps and arrest or disperse homeless people in public spaces. What if we fully funded housing first programs that give every homeless person a home and a transitional social worker, something that was successfully employed from 2005-2015 in Utah. When you account for the reduced crime rates and hospitalizations of the homeless, these policies partially pay for themselves!
Cops deal with most drug busts. What if we legalized and regulated certain light drugs, taking a whole section of the black market into the public. Then, we could decriminalize heavier drugs so that efforts are focused on public health treatment for addicts. There’s tons of research illustrating that demand-side approaches like that are more effective at limiting drug abuse than supply-side approaches like giving drug dealers long prison sentences. The most sophisticated and dangerous drug trafficking operations can be dealt with through tactics used on organized crime, which is often more legal-work than police-work!
A number of crimes exist for the specific purpose of giving the police the discretionary ability to disperse or arrest people they determine to be a public nuisance: loitering, juvenile curfews, open container laws, etc. To be frank, we could literally eliminate some of these “crimes” simply by making them legal, with few negative consequences if done as part of a larger transformative program.
Police patrol cities looking for crime, even though this is generally inefficient at stopping crime compared to focusing on hotspots. What about creating city programs for neighborhood-oriented and community-controlled groups of unarmed people trained in intervention, mediation, and deescalation? When done right, this sort of model has proven successful even in high-crime areas.
Also, about those hotspots I mentioned: what if we actually made an effort to empower those communities? How many high-crime areas do you think would remain high-crime for long if we made a real effort to eliminate poverty, and if we provided everyone with free comprehensive public transit, education, and the other public services mentioned above?
Add it all up, and what roles are the police actually left with? If we lower youth crime rates by treating young people better and improving education, create community options for mental illness and interpersonal conflict, take care of traffic laws with an entirely separate organization, eliminate homelessness and poverty, reform our drug laws and humanely combat addiction, decriminalize the most harmless minor offenses, and provide opportunities and resources to reduce violence in the most violent neighborhoods, how much of their current jobs are police left with?
That’s why I like “defund the police” best as a rallying point. While “abolish the police” is an end-goal that leaves most people outside the left wondering what exactly it means, “defund the police” draws attention to the fact that our status-quo policing system is a policy choice we make every single year when it’s time to draw up public budgets, and that we can dramatically reduce the need for police by reprioritizing funding towards things that actually serve to improve human welfare.
