Love what youre doing in this blog <3
Do you have any tips of staying organised, specifically keeping a tidy wardrobe and desk? Usually it takes me a long time to clean but normally whenever I finally tidy the things they never stay that way for long..
Thank you o2studies ♥️
I’m always really happy to hear that people are enjoying my stuff and it’s helpful to them!
I also really relate to struggling to keep your space organized as I used to struggle with that a lot when I first moved out. So I collected some tips that helped me and I hope they will do so for you too.
General tips:
Find a place for everything: The most important step in staying organised is to create an organization system that works for you. I think the things you need to keep in mind are 1. where do you need your things? 2. where is it easy to grab your things from? If you found a place that accomplishes both these points, try to keep your things in
Containers!: Putting things in containers prevents them from just laying around and thus reduces visual clutter. You can also just have a bucket where you put things that you need to put away later -> makes the tidying-up-process less overwhelming. This works both with containers for pencils and papers on your desk and for organizers in your closet
Put things away after using them: This is ofcourse one of the most basic tips, but it can be very helpfull to keep your place tidy. If you put things away after using them they don’t pile up.
Take time every day to de-clutter: If the last tip doesn’t work for you try this instead. For me this time used to be after coming home from school and now its in the morning before I start studying. Instead of taking a lot of time to clean everything, take a little time each day to for example put away the papers you worked on or the clothes you wore yesterday
Desk organization tips:
Keep only what you need on you desk: A cluttered workspace can be distracting and make it difficult to focus on the task at hand. It’s also helpful too keep open desk space, so you have space to work.
-> Keep things you need often nearby: Keeping the things you need most near your dominant hand makes it easier to grab them. This also makes it easier to put them back where they belong and you don’t have to shuffle things around because they’re hard to reach
Utilize your wall space, the space under your desk and stack vertically: A floating shelve/a pegboard or drawer organizers can be helpful to have more storage space and stacking things vertically is a more efficient use of space
Organize your desk according to your work process: Again if things already are where you need them to be, you don’t need to put them back and it’s also just more efficient. For example; a lot of people work from left to right, so they put documents they need to work on on the left of their desk and the documents they finished working on on the right
Wardrobe organization tips:
Clean out your closet: It can be hard to keep your wardrobe organized, when it’s overflowing so start off with downsizing and decluttering. Selling some off your stuff on websites like Poshmark or eBay or donate it to give it a second live
-> Make future clean outs easier: Place a distinct (i.e., brightly colored) hanger at the front of each section of your closet. Every time you wear something and wash it, hang it up in front of that hanger. After a few months, it’ll be pretty easy to see what got worn and what didn’t
-> Pack away seasonal clothing: Try to store the clothes you don’t need at the time somewhere else (like in another storage space/boxes or vacuum packs) to make place in your wardrobe
Create Zones: You could divide items by type, by color or based on how frequently you use them. Put high-use items in the front so they’re easy to grab and you don’t have to go through all your things. Zones also help to get an overview of everything you have so you again don’t have to go through everything
=> Hope that helped, thanks for the question!

could you maybe also give some tips for cute, school appropriate outfits? My schools dress code is really strict so it’s hard to come up with ideas
Hey there Anon!
So in this post about romanticizing school I mentioned that it can be helpful to wear a cute outfit that you feel confident in.
And while I personally never went to a school with a dress code I can definitely see how that can be hard to navigate.
So I came up with some outfit formulas and examples, that will hopefully give you some inspiration (I hope these fit your dress code, but if not I’m sure you can adjust accordingly with your own clothes)
Thanks for the question Anon!

I never have time in the morning to prepare my school lunch so I always buy it but that’s expensive. What can I do instead?
Hey there Anon!
Try to prepare your lunches the evening/ day before
If that doesn’t work for you try optimizing your morning routine, so that you have more time
Go for lunches that you can prepare in bulk like pancakes, chia pudding etc. so you could also prepare them during your weekend
You could also go for ingredient prepping instead: pre cut vegetables and put them in water so they don’t go bad, buy/make a bunch of small snacks like crackers or protein bars that you can just throw in a lunch container in the morning
=> I know how stressful school mornings can be, so I totally get that this can be hard to do every morning, but I hope these were helpful
Thanks for the question!

I studied for a week straight before my last exam and I still got a C! What did I do wrong?
Hey there Anon!
So first of all I don’t want you to beat yourself up over a grade. You studied, you did your best and that’s great. Focus on that.
But if you still want to improve that’s also great. And for that you need to consider;
How effective was your studying? There is something to the phrase “work smart not hard”. Of course you still have to do the work, but you also need to figure out in that work actually helps you remember things. Try out different study methods (especially active recall) and see what works for you
Did you plan in enough time for studying? Everyone studies with a different pace, some people need longer to understand something than others and that’s not a bad thing. You just need to figure out what time frame you need for something and then plan around that
Was the problem that you didn’t know anything or that you had problems with the tasks? Because you can always study more, but you also need to understand what your teacher wants you to do. Study with your past exams and really look at what your teacher wrote, if you’re teacher gives you an expectation sheet (I hope you actually call it that in English) even better
=> I hope this helps and good luck for your next exam 🌻
Thanks for the question!

How can I establish a morning routine? I’m just always stressed and half asleep in the morning
Hey there Anon!
So I know that it seems like online you need to stand up in the middle of the night, down a liter of saltwater, go on a run and write an entire book, but ultimately you really just need to focus on what makes you feel good.
Your morning routine shouldn’t be a list of things you copied from someone else that you’re now working through. Of course you can try to work in some healthy habits into your routine, but actually think about wether or not they actually help you personally to start of your day. That’s why the first thing you’re gonna wanna do is
Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to do a certain amount of things in the morning. Just get up, get ready, eat something, get to work/ school or think about what you want to do that day
If you’re always tired in the morning try to get in more and better sleep
Try to prepare as much as possible the evening/day before; prepare breakfast, lay out what you want to wear etc.
Presumably you already have a morning routine (because falling out of bed, brushing your teeth and running out the door with a protein-bar also is a routine) so try to ad onto that one habit at a time
Reevaluate when you want to wake up; if you don’t have enough time, try getting up earlier. If you always need a half hour to get up, because you keep falling asleep again, try to set your alarm for a little later so you get a bit more sleep
Again don’t just blindly copy people, but you can find inspiration in other morning routines; that can help you find things that could also work for you
=> Hope that helps and you can have more relaxing mornings in the future 🌅
Thanks for the question Anon!

How to get past depression and start getting my grades up and be proud of my work when I'm productive
Hey there rein-raus!
So as already established I’m not a mental health professional. There also is a huge difference between a depressive episode (which I as a lot of people have gone through) and chronic depression, because you can’t really “get past” chronic depression.
-> In that case I can however share a overview of recourses, information about financing therapy & resources for queer and black people specifically and international recourses
And I can also give you tips for getting through a depressive episode, getting your grades up and being proud of your work:
Getting through a depressive episode
What is a depressive episode?
try to keep doing activities you used to enjoy
stay connected to friends and family
exercise regularly, even if it’s just a short walk
do something relaxing like Yoga or Meditation
stick to regular eating and sleeping habits as much as possible
avoid or cut down on alcohol and don’t use illicit drugs, which can make depression worse
talk to someone you trust about your feelings
seek help from a healthcare provider
Getting your grades up
The most important thing is to participate in the lesson. It isn’t enough to just be present, you need to actually show your teacher that you’re paying attention. I know it can be hard to say something in class when you’re shy, but it is really important for you’re grade. Keep a list where you write down every time you raise your hand, so that you remember to do it a certain amount of times per lesson. If you really struggle; start of with trying to say something once per lesson to overcome that hesitation
Plan your revision. When exams are coming up, plan out your study time; plan in time to study every day. Make a list of specific task that you can tick off so that you always know what you have to do. But stay realistic e.g. if you come home from school at 4 p.m. you probably don’t have the energy to start working right away
Set Short-Term goals. I already talked about writing down specific tasks and you’re gonna want to break these tasks down into smaller tasks. Not only does this make it much easier to actually do these tasks, it is also helpful to really focus on individual topics
Review your past lessons. This can be helpful to make sure you really understood the lesson and to remember the topics. But some teachers also tend to ask at the beginning of a lesson what happened in the last lesson, so by being able to answer that you already raised your hand once that lesson
Find your study space. Different people can work more or left effectively in different spaces. Some people like to work in their room, others can’t concentrate there - some like to study in the library, because there are other people working, others prefer the buzz of a cafe. Find a space where you can be comfortable and productive
Look after yourself. You need to make sure that you’re okay, before you worry about school. Take time for yourself and don’t push yourself to the point of burnout - because that’s actually less productive.
Being proud of your work
Write down your tasks so that when you finish them you can tick them off and have a visual reminder that you did well
Reward yourself; eat a pice of candy you like, take a nice bath, watch an episode of your favorite show etc.
Say positive affirmations to yourself
Think about why you have trouble being proud of your work in the first place; try to fix the root cause
If you have trouble being proud, because you feel you didn’t do enough, try to change your perspective on things; You maybe only studied for 10pm, but you did study - you maybe only started studying late into the evening, but you did end up studying - maybe you didn’t study at all that day, but you rested and can now do it tomorrow
=> I really hope that was helpful and you’re doing better. I know that you’re trying and that’s the most important thing. You can do this, I believe in you♥️

I know that I need more sleep but I just can’t fall asleep until way too late at night
Hey there Anon!
So this is actually a problem that I have struggled with for a long time too. Especially students commonly don’t get enough sleep. Luckily there are some things that you can try to help you fall asleep easier!
During your day:
Get regular exposure to sunlight. Try for at least 30min a day, preferably in the morning 🌅
Avoid nicotine and caffeine ☕️
If you nap, try to avoid taking one within 6h of your bedtime 💤
Try to get your workouts in at least 2 or 3h before bed 🏋️‍♀️
Stay away from large meals and a lot of liquids within a few hours of bedtime 🍗
Don’t lie in bed all day or your brain won’t associate your bed with sleep 🛌
Winding down for bed:
Alcohol can decrease the quality of your sleep 🥂
Dim the lights in the evening 💡
Relax before getting in bed (e.g. read a book, listen to music, keep a journal) 📖
A hot bath/shower can help you wind down 🛁
Bedtime:
Make sure your bedroom is cool and dark 🌒
Your bed should be cozy and a place where you like to be and that makes you feel calm 🕰️
Try to keep electronics and other distractions out of the bedroom/away from your bed 📱
Don’t lie in bed awake. If you’re awake for more than 20min, get up and do something relaxing until you feel like you’re ready to sleep 🧘‍♀️
=> Now these are all the scientifically recommended tips, but obviously they don’t have to work perfectly for you.
For example I personally take at least 30min to fall asleep so I only get up again when I couldn’t fall asleep for around an hour. I also came to realize that reading a book doesn’t really help me get tired. (If you want to know about my evening routine as an example you can send me an ask)
So these can be helpful, but ultimately you need to figure out what works for you specifically ♥️
Thanks for the question, Anon!

Hi love , How do you stay motivated?
Hey, np Anon ♥️
Especially in stressful times it can be very hard to still find the motivation to do the things you need to do. I however do believe that there are ways and tricks to help with that!
Keep your goals in mind; write them down and visualize them
Romanticize your life 🎀 (I already talked about romanticizing school specifically)
If you’re still a student; remember how privileged you are to have the opportunity to learn so much - and if you’re not; think about how hard you worked to already make it this far
Looking at lifestyle/study blogs helped me a lot to become more productive myself
Collect Affirmations and quotes that motivate you
Try the two minute rule: make yourself work on a task for 2min and chances are you will end up working much longer once you actually get started
Find someone/something to hold you accountable, so that you have a more tangible reason for wanting to do your work
Find a way to make your tasks more fun and enjoyable
Reward yourself and give yourself breaks!
-> Find ways to re-energize yourself, you can’t be motivated if you don’t have energy
=> Ultimately I however believe that motivation needs to work hand in hand with discipline, because discipline will bring you further. Of course you can use these tips and motivation is great, but you can’t depend on it.

How do I romanticize school?
Hey there Anon 🎀
If you’re like me then you also feel the need to romanticize/ make everything aesthetic to find some motivation lol. I think this can be a great way to
Wear a cute outfit (something that makes you feel confident and comfy)
Or if you have to wear a uniform wear lots of jewelry/accessories
Look at study blogs or study boards
Make playlists for different vibes/situations and listen to them (like for studying, walking to school, bus rides etc) (don’t listen to music in class tho!)
Bring a book with you and read it in your breaks
Start a journal/ bullet journal
Make pretty notes & study pages
Find cute places to study (like coffee shops, parks, library)
And/or create a workplace in your house/room where you can work comfortably (no distractions, candles/cute lights, drinks)
If you have a locker decorate it (mirror, posters, pictures etc)
Stay organized so you don’t get too stressed
If you want some more tips/ examples for playlists or how to create a workplace or something else I mentioned you can just send me an ask.
Thanks for the question Anon ♥️

How can I still dress cute when it’s hot or cold outside
Hey there Anon! So for both hot and cold weather the thing you’re gonna wanna do is layering and accessorizing!
For hot weather:
While adding layers seems counterintuitive it can help make your outfit more interesting
Lighter layers also help keeping your body temperature in check and allow breezes to cool you down
Accessory’s make every outfit look more put together and in hot weather hats or other headwear can also protect you from the sun
Here are some basic outfit formulas (I kept them pretty neutral because they’re just supposed to give you ideas and you can expend upon them with your own wardrobe)
Tumblr media
For cold weather:
Layering again, but this time thick layers that still allow air circulation
For jewelry I would focus on necklaces and rings as your wrists will be covered most of the time
You can easily transform summer clothes for colder weather by layering with tights/turtleneck/sweater/cardigan
Try to create a straight silhouette so that the outfit looks layered and not bulky
Utilise typical cold weather accessories like gloves/scarfs/earmuffs/hat
Some more outfit formulas (again neutral)
Tumblr media
Notes for extremely cold weather:
Thermal/long underwear
Head controls the temperature of the rest of your body so always wear a hat
Warm layers that can easily be taken off once you’re inside/ can easily be put on again
=> Accessories and layers make every outfit more interesting and if you do it the right way they also can wether or not it’s hot or cold outside. At the end of the day it however only matters that you feel comfortable and wear the things you love!
Thanks for the question Anon ♥️
