➠ Crown of Suns | Profile
Biological Information
Name: 宝船 華楓
Rōmanji: Housen Kaede
Meaning: Her last name stands for "treasure ship", while her first name means "maple".
Gender: Female
Age: 4 (in 1995 - first appearance)
14 (in 2005 - past timeline)
27 (in 2017 - future timeline)
Birthday: December 22nd, 1990
Height: 163 cm (5' 4")
Blood Type: +AB
Hair Color: Sandy Brown
Eye Color: Muddy Pink
Relatives: Hinode Katasuke (father) †
Housen Sumire (mother)
Housen Sayuri (younger sister)
Sakonji Misako (maternal aunt)
Sakonji Hayate (uncle)
Kaede Housen is a young girl who Takemichi accidentally ends up saving from being pushed against the train which was picking up speed. Later, he comes to know that she is one of Toman's honorary members, being the founders' childhood friend.
Appearance
Kaede is on the shorter side with sturdy muscles from taking Karate lessons. She is a late bloomer in terms of physique, often teasingly picked on by her female classmates for that. She had big pink-ish eyes and brown wavy hair that reaches the middle of her back.
Most times, she is seen wearing a standard school uniform that consists of a pale daffodils yellow blouse, blue and brown checkered skirt that matches her tie and black sneakers. When not in her uniform, that is on weekends, she resorts to stylish clothes but none that compromise her comfort. She is a big fan of jewelry but her heart-shaped earrings are rarely taken off.
Personality
Kaede is like a roller-coaster of neverending unpredictability. She is playful and loves pulling pranks, which are mostly harmless but at the same time, she can hold grudges like no other. One time, she mixed hair dye in Mikey's shampoo when sleeping over with Emma and he had to run around with neon green hair for a week until it wore off.
She is kind to those who prove they are worth no trouble. In that sense, she has a very prominent idea of what is good and bad. People are not able to tell at first glance but her perception is immaculate. She says it's just instincts but hardly anything happens in her presence without her knowing about it.
Kaede is extremely loyal, almost to a fault. Those she calls her friends will always be her top priority and in exchange they are stuck with her for life. It can also result in her picking longtime friends over new additions, like how she is slow in accepting Takemichi into their circle.
Kaede is impatient and often comes off as impulsive but when it comes to things that matter to her — such as scoring good in her tests to make her mother happy, making time for Toman rallies at night, hanging out with friends — she makes no compromises.
Abilities / Fighting Prowess
Kaede is a decently strong fighter and can easily take on fifty or so men. She focuses more on agility and speedy moves, knocking out the opponent before they can retaliate. She is a 4th Dan Black Belt in Karate.
Trivia
• Her image colour is Night Blue (#252850)
• She dislikes pushovers and people who only act nice with ulterior motives like her aunt and Kisaki.
• She likes strawberry cake, rainy days and bike rides through the Tokyo nightscape.
• She dislikes bitter food and strong scents. Isn't particularly fond of when Sayuri throws tantrums.
• A person she looks up to or respects is her mother.
• Her special skill is adapting to any art style at two or three glances and replicating it seamlessly.
• Kaede's dream is to become a manga artist and animator.
• Her heroic story (or failure story): She is yet unbeaten at chess, even going as far to get selected for Nationals.
• Her favorite spot is the amusement park.
• A daily activity of a certain day: Once Kaede's classmates had invited her over to go to the summer festival together but she declined. She instead went with her Toman friends, all of whom were decked in Tokkou-fuku due to having a fight later. Little did she know, all her classmates had seen her walking around with a menacing hoard of boys. The next day, everybody spoke to her with respect, fully believing she was either a daughter of a yakuza boss or in some reverse-harem situation. Needless to say, an explanation was much required.
• Kaede's relationship chart (past):
Mitsuya - Childhood best friend
Mikey and Baji - Learned Karate together.
Emma - Best friend
• Her bike is a Kawasaki ZX-7 that previously belonged to her uncle who helped her fix it.
Backstory
Kaede was actually friends with Mitsuya since kindergarten and their mothers remained in touch when their sisters were born in the same year, knowing they would also end up going to the same school when older. She and Mitsuya became quick friends, attached to the hip even. While he was the quiet type, she was the outgoing girl who was popular in all grades.
She met Baji and Mikey when her mother finally relented on signing her up for lessons at the Dojo, finding Mikey's chaotic nature and the two's endless bickering amusing. They caught her laughing at them once which led to an elaborate roughhousing — clothes being ripped, hair being pulled — before Grandpa Sano had to pry them apart and give the boys a lesson on discipline. Once they clamed down enough to talk like civilized humans, they found out they liked a lot of similar video games and T.V shows, chattering at hours on end even after practice ended.
Kaede became really attached to Emma when the girl arrived at the Sano household. The blonde girl was a timid little thing and upon first glance, Kaede decided she would be her friend. The two share a strong bond that never wavered through all of elementary school. Sleepovers became religious that Mikey's newly minted friends, in which she was elated to find Mitsuya, crashed.
Her middle school days were probably her peak years because after that, everything seemed to fall apart. Her friends were getting into more and more fights, this time involving guns and knives. When she received news of Draken's death, her head hurt so bad, she fainted in the middle of a busy road. After that, it was one after another with Baji and Emma. So many funerals became a common thing and by the time she reached high school, she was all alone after detaching herself from Toman which had merged with Tenjiku and truly ruled Tokyo, but at what cost? Daily committing the most unspeakable crimes?
All in all, she would lead a generic life in the first timeline, working in a makeup company and part time as an artist.

so ya'll know cbse released their class X results recently? mine was great (me thinks) even if maths dragged my overall percentage down by a long haul.
my dad disagrees, says i should send my paper for revaluation upon getting "advice" from his friends. he says it's up to me but i feel like i'll let him down if i don't agree. on the other hand, i'll be crushed if my marks get decreased instead.

No worries just wanted to make sure before requesting :]
Hm well if it suits you may you write something (of any type you pick) of Kazutora and/or Baji platonicly with reader that has ADHD and get mistreated for it ?
Or in another words the damn iconic problems that ADHD people has to go throught because of society, like ashamed parents and school that tries to "fix" them if you get what i mean
hii anon! thanks for the request. i tried to do the characterization justice since adhd varies for different people. hopefully nothing seems too stereotypical.
you need to be damaged to be fixed
genre. mild hurt/comfort, rants, y/n with adhd, in an "everyone lives" au maybe?
pairing. kazutora hanemiya × platonic! gn reader
Ever since the beginning of your friendship back in fifth elementary, Kazutora had always insisted on picking you up from school. If he could, he would drop you off too but upon your humble request against it to not have your parents out for his and your head when they'd find out a middle schooler is driving around in motorbikes, he conceded.
Case in point, he never missed a single day of hanging around the gates of your school, shrugging off awed or downright frightened glances as he waited for you, so you could go hang out at the arcade or the amusement park. The employees there were practically your friends considering how often you were spotted there.
But that day, all he seemed to do was wait and wait. School had been out for almost an hour and while he was aware of your plethora of club activities that generally hogged you, it wasn't to this extent. Switching off his phone after not getting a reply from you, Kazutora started towards the entrance of the mostly vacant building.
He checked your classroom first, peeking his head in the doorway only to find it deserted. Your locker was piled with brightly coloured papers and refused to be shut but there was no you in sight.
Kazutora was going to continue on when the subtle chime was heard as narrowly missed stepping on a small , all too familiar charm yet kicked it instead, making it fly against the wall.
With a little frown he plucked it off the floor, inspecting it for any damage and shoving it into his pocket before stepping out. He stopped a few students in the hallway, asking them about which room you might be in, thanking them for their helpful, albeit shaky response.
Home ec, Literature club... Ah, there it was, the student council room.
With a happy bounce in his step at the chance of seeing you again after so long, that being last night, he pushed the door open with an expectantly. "Y/n! You were taking too long so I..." He cut himself off mid-sentence.
The trail of your name made you look up from your seat at the table, simultaneously making his smile slip away. Your eyes were rimmed red, puffed up and glassy with a hand wiping angrily at the tears. You stared at each other in mild shock before the waterworks started again.
His appearance had only made it worse.
"What happened?" Kazutora stiffened at the sight, rushing in to sit beside you while you buried your head into your hands, shoulders shaking.
His first thought was that he had done something wrong but was quick to discard it since you always told him clearly when he did something that struck a chord. In that way, he was grateful for your straightforward self for avoiding the brutal cycle of miscommunication.
So it had to have been something at school.
"Y/n?" His hands poked at your arms, gently coaxing them away from your face. You refused to lift you head off the table, making him assume the same position facing you. "What's wrong? Why the ugly tears?"
"Oh my god", his teasing question made you groan, swinging your feet to strike his shin while he muffled a yelp. "Just shut up, please!"
"My bad", he started in a quieter voice, sobering at the raw frustration in your tone. "But I wasn't kidding. Tell me, which asshole do I need to beat up?"
You shot him an unimpressed look, though the bubbling anger in your head was slowly receding. "And risk you getting suspended again? I think not, Hanemiya."
"We're bringing out last names now, L/n?" He perked up a little, edges of his wide sandy eyes crinkling with mirth. "So, someone did say something to you."
It was moments like these you wished you didn't blurt everything out without a moment's thought. But growing up trying to prove yourself just as capable as others, you tried to one up everyone you met, sometimes subconsciously so. And that applied to matching the heat your best friend's retorts.
Letting out a sigh, you shuffled in your seat, standing up so suddenly and giving Kazutora a good scare. He narrowed his eyes in accusation, always acting like an overgrown kitten.
Well, tigers were in the cat family, weren't they?
"Earth to Y/n?"
Face to face with that exaggerated smile of his, and the way his jaw clenched tersely, you knew dodging would only sentence you to endless grilling. So, you gave in.
"You know how I told you about the council elections last week?" Kazutora nodded a little, ensuring you his undivided attention. "They announced the results today."
Your dejected tone was indication enough of what was to come. "And you didn't get selected?" He tsked at your nod, watching your back as you unloaded piles of paper from the cabinet into cardboard boxes. "What's there to cry about it? You are good at what you do, you give every project your all. If the teachers didn't see it, then they're fucking blind."
You shook your head with dry laughter, grateful that he didn't see you tearing up again.
"Stupid, I wouldn't even have minded if that was it", you countered, wiping your face with the sleeve of your blazer. "I went up to the teacher in-charge, you know, to see where my presentation lacked. And you know what he did? He laughed at my face."
Oh, now Kazutora was interested. Stepping forward, he took the heavy box from you, heaving it over the locker at your instructions, focused on your rant.
"He fucking laughed and said it was bold of me to assume I'd get selected in the first place", you squeezed an old test into a ball as if it was the teacher's head, aiming it at the dustbin. "Said I was subpar at best. Apparently, the other candidates were not 'airheads with no sense of responsibility or punctuality'. Then he went on about how I should fix my problems and not disrespect others' efforts. At that point I stopped listening but, man, what a bully! And mind you, I was only late to his class twice this month."
Kazutora would have made a sarcastic remark at that but he was too busy burning a hole into the back of your head with his vacant expression. He wad confused, to be honest. Confused how anyone could have the audacity to fault people about something they couldn't control.
He still remembered the day you appeared at that park behind the apartment building you both lived in, nine years old and tears rolling down your cheeks as you said you had some disorder.
Kazutora, bless his heart, had panicked, dragging you to your mother who had then patiently explained to him what ADHD was.
No, you weren't dying and no, you wouldn't get tonnes of injections and stay bedridden forever. And yes, he would still be able to see you. You were just sometimes distracted or hyperaware of things that not many otherwise cared for.
Kazutora considered himself quite adept at reading people. Whether that was an ability he developed trying to tiptoe the line of punishment and praise at his own house, he wasn't aware. But it sure did come in handy when he noticed the little quirks of your behavior.
How you would get super focused into this one chart or drawing, to the point of refusing to eat, sleep or interact till it was finish. How your mind could run a mile per minute, always shifting topics at lighting pace. Boy did those lead to you going off on a tangent.
You did space out once in a while listening to him but nothing a little tug at your hair or a harmless pinch couldn't solve.
And although sometimes you got a little crabby and had arguably the worst comedic timing amongst most people he knew, he adored that about you all the same. It was just another attribute to what made you, well... you.
Sue Kazutora for thinking it was so cool yet hilarious when you sassed the teachers who got sour over your mid-lesson interjections.
"And you let him walk away in one piece?"
"I—", now it was your turn to be confuddled, turning to face him. "What?"
"You need to be damaged to be fixed, Y/n. That guy is clearly an asshole, a stupid one at that", his tone was stern, eyebrows quirked and fists clenched at his sides. "Why the hell would he pick on kids half his age? If he's got nothing better to do then maybe he should educate himself on matters before voicing the opinion that nobody wants to hear."
He eyed you directly as he spoke, even though you failed to hold that contact. "And if you had to be on a team picked by him, you're better off not being on the council at all."
You blinked in shock at his elaborate ramble. Kazutora crossed his arms with an 'I dare you to argue against that' face, while you wondered if your habits had rubbed off on him. A pout graced your face then, "But I wanted that position for so long. Even if it means putting up with that lunatic."
A beat of silence passed over the two of you.
"Only you, Y/n. Only you", he deadpanned at your whine, digging into his pocket to get something which he flung towards you. "Also, might wanna keep a tracker on your stuff if you keep losing 'em so often."
"Ack! The hell, Kazutora? What is—" You glared at him halfheartedly, rubbing the spot when the trinket hit your forehead. But your eyes widened as you spotted the little tiger charm sitting on your palm. "Hey, I've been searching for it everywhere! How'd you find it?"
Letting out a dramatic sigh, he resumed his wide smile. "Who else will if not your personal babysitter, your highness?"
The nerve around your right eye twitched in irritation as you raised your fist, showing your sharp nails. "Now you're just getting on my nerves, Kazutora."
"Oh, am I?" The boy feigned concern, stepping away from you in small, tentative steps. "That's too bad."
That was all it took to trigger a cat-mouse chase, both of you bounding down the empty hallway as the trees rustled, casting elaborate shadows under the setting sun. The wind carried laughter, the chimes of a bell and jibes that amounted to no actual harm.
"You piece of shit... Get back here!"
And just like that, the day carried away the ill-masked ignorance of some and familiar comfort took its place. Sometimes, getting distracted too quickly was fantastic.

a lil update in my fandom list. I don't consider myself an active part of the MHA fandom and it would be unfair to take requests without being up to date with the source material.
I think I've just been straying from the it for a while now and even though I've created a hell lot of ocs in this fandom, it just doesn't hold that former appeal to me anymore ( ´⊇`)

On the characters in your Fandoms list, does making some of the names bigger than the others mean you only write for those ones ? I mean like "this" by bigger
ah you mean the bold ones? it just means i prefer writing those characters amongst the list or whose personality i can project with ease tbh.
i still write for the other characters mentioned, though. sorry if that caused a confusion ( ;´・ω・`)

Currently obsessing over Kazutora with a crush who is the school's sweetheart and loves to help people around.
Them meeting while his crush offers him help with something so very simple, maybe sharing their lunch or providing their notes, with Kazutora's heart fluttering at every interaction.
They seem to bump into each other everywhere, only exchanging small nods of acknowledgement while each losing their mind over how good the other looks, without even trying.
A stray cat that his crush tends to every day near the back alley of their house leading Kazutora to them. They don't mention each other's red faces, just laughing at the coincidence and talking about favourite foods, places and hobbies for hours on end.
Just simple meetups barely suffice and Kazutora finds himself sharing his number on the second week. The first call comes late at night, while his back is resting against a wall, legs thrown over the edge of the roof of an abandoned mall.
It's the most fun Kazutora has had in a long while, especially with his trouble of interacting with others while not fighting. He finds himself thinking about them randomly throughout his day, anticipating their next chat, staring at that one item on the shop's display that reminds him of his crush.
It's more than a bit stupid, he knows. But he's also aware it's not just a infatuation. Not like the one that made his mother take his father's every blow, verbal or physical, because she thought "That's just his way of showing he cares." Until it came to the point where she snapped.
Never like that, he thought.
Honestly, Kazutora is scared. Without having had any example of what a good relationship is supposed to be like, he's basically going into this blind. But the thought of it being them, their ever-present smile and understanding eyes, somehow it makes his raging thought a lot more bearable.
Kazutora didn’t mean for them to find out about his gang life, not finding it in himself to be shunned again because that's a part of him he'd long accepted.
His crush finding out while walking in on him beating the guys from Moebius who recently joined Valhalla for that one incident with Pah's friend's girlfriend.
Not speaking for an entire week because his crush is appalled, rightfully so since they'd never have imagined a kind soul like Kazutora — who helps every person when asked, feeds strays religiously and gladly offers up the last lemon shortcake for the kid who waited in line behind him — to pick fights for fun and be associated with delinquents.
Kazutora thinks everything has gone down the drain. The steady stream of development shattered in a moment. He knows he should apologise, for keeping them in the dark, for forcing on them his selfish desire to keep them close. He doesn't know how to.
But his crush isn't one to back down without an explanation. They march in to his classroom where he bothers to show up for half a day, once a week, pulling him out with an excuse of 'emergency' to the teacher.
They remain silent on the rooftop where neither should be — they'd be in deep shit if anyone found out — but both are too distracted to care. Kazutora has his breath caught in his throat, heart about to leap out of his chest.
It takes one word, "why?" and the warmth of their much smaller hand engulfing his for the floodgates to give out. His body is shaking as Kazutora tells them everything, starting with the fact he had been in juvie — notedly leaving out the murder part of his sentence — and about his violent streak.
He thinks he is too messed up for a perfect person like them to give him a chance. Kazutora is waiting for them to inch away, give him a look crossed between disappointment and terror and leave. Because that's what everyone did.
But then he feels two arms wrap around him. They are barely able to circle his curled up frame but the tenacity of that embrace makes his heart ache, gut wrenching with anxiety.
The words spilling out don't make much sense but Kazutora finds himself repeating "I'm sorry" over and over again. What is he apologising for? A whole lot. For lying, for being a selfish douche. For putting them in harm way without bothering to keep them in the loop.
His attention zeroes in on deft fingers tracing the ink on the branching tendrils of his tattoo. Also something he'd hidden. They had undone the collar of his gakuran, giving him leeway to just take a moment to breathe.
"I don't know why you thought it was best to hide that in the first place, Kazutora, but, I'm sure you had your reasons. I don’t know a whole lot about your world and truth be told, I don't see the point of unnecessary violence. Just promise me that you won't hurt anyone who isn't involved in your business. And dummy, if I wanted to leave, I wouldn't have asked for an explanation, would I? Let's just... never lie to each other like that, okay?"
note: should i make this into like a story with an oc? 😳

Hellooo~ I love your writing, especially the angsty works. they''re just 👍👍 Maybe you could make something like that for Chifuyu? I'll leave the plot to you. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi there 💙💛
Thank you for your nice words :) I hope this is something you had in mind.
Thank you for the request :)
Tumblr media
Title: Let me carry your burden
Pairing: Chifuyu x Reader
Summary: You start to visit Baji’s grave in Chifuyu’s place while he’s struggling with the loss of his friend. | Genre: Angst with a happy ending = Hurt/Comfort | Warning: Mentions of Baji’s death | Words: 5.2K
‘Can you see us, Baji-san?’ you found yourself asking the cold grave at one point during your visit before you found yourself frowning at your own foolishness.
As if a grave could answer. Whether there was an afterlife and how did it look like you didn’t know, but you were pretty certain that you would not get an answer from the dead boy whose grave you had been visiting for the past few weeks.
It doesn’t really work like that, does it?
You gathered your things and stood up calmly paying your respect one more time before you decided to leave.
To anyone who would have seen you and didn’t know you, it would look as if you came to visit the grave of someone dear to you. A friend, a family member, or someone else who was close. However, if you were seen by anyone who did know you or Baji Keisuke, they would have been confused why it was you who was there since you barely knew him after all.
The weather was indecisive today. It seemed it would rain almost every other minute with how grey the sky looked, but so far not a single drop appeared on the ground.
Even with an umbrella and properly clothed for the occasion, you would still prefer to be home before the worst of it.
It was almost as if it was a premonition of what was to come because while you were walking down the stairs that lead down from the cemetery, you saw a person standing in your way causing you to flinch as if the ghost of Baji Keisuke appeared in front of you himself.
Oh no! No! No! NO!
Without meaning to you stopped and watched in shock and horror as probably the last person, you wanted to see stood there a couple of steps in front of you.
Your traitorous heart speeded up as it often did when you saw Matsuno Chifuyu, but your stomach twisted in an unkind way as you would much rather have it that he didn’t see you here of all places. You were baffled that even if lost in your thoughts you missed Chifuyu approaching you from below the stairs like that.
There was literally no other way to enter or exit the graveyard, which meant even if you really wished it didn’t, you had to carry on walking toward him to be able to get off the grounds.
Swallowing saliva and as much cowardness as you could, you forced yourself to start walking again hoping, it was just a coincidence that he was here. Perhaps, he would finally start to visit the grave himself freeing you from the self-duty you put upon your shoulders the moment you overheard the conversation between the some Toman members.
‘But Chifuyu hasn’t come to Baji’s grave since he was buried. It doesn’t look like he will come any time soon,’ you overheard on your on the street one day flinching for a second before you carried on walking your mind racing.
That’s…not right.
It felt so wrong to you. The idea that Chifuyu out of all the people wouldn’t visit Baji’s grave caused something uncomfortable to twist inside your stomach. The idea to take his place, so to speak, happened on a whim. After overhearing that conversation, you simply thought too often about Chifuyu and Baji and decided that if you thought about them so much, you should probably visit the grave yourself. But once you started you couldn’t seem to stop finding it almost poetical that someone like you who had been crushing on Matsuno Chifuyu since you were a child would take over his duties to visit Baji. A part of you felt as if even if he didn’t know you were comforting or helping him no matter how delusional that sounded.
I just want to be useful somehow.
You knew it would seem strange to people. You didn’t really know Baji, and Chifuyu didn’t even know who you were so who could he understand you were doing this for him? If you explained it out loud surely people would assume you were someone weird, so you rather attempted to keep it a secret. Such was the reason, why now seeing the boy, you were doing this all in the first place left you so shaken and nervous.
How could I ever explain this without sounding weird?
The closer you got, your anxiety skyrocketed and somewhere in your panic state you thought it would be a good idea to bow and quietly greet Chifuyu, ‘Good afternoon.’
He didn’t say anything, but his green eyes were sharp like a cat on you now. You felt as if you crossed him somehow and would now end up in a great deal of trouble.
Why even now he must look so damn…handsome?!
‘Excuse me,’ you said again feeling your last bits of calmness slipping away between your fingers as you tried to walk past him, but he didn’t move to cause you to have to step aside onto the grass. Was he angry with you? Why didn’t he just step aside?
What if he knows and hates me now?
‘Hey,’ he said, and you mentally cursed wishing he hadn’t said anything at all because what he said next caused your back to start sweating, ‘I remember you from Baji’s tsuya.’
Your lips pressed into a tight line, and it shattered something inside you, that the first time Chifuyu ever spoke to you was to say this of all things.
You didn’t look at him keeping your back to him even if you felt him looking at you now feeling the more, he spoke the more you sweated hating that this was the first time he ever even acknowledged you and that you were such a mess about it, ‘You paid your respect to Baji’s mom, then me and the Toman Captains. At least those who were allowed to come.’
You swallowed a bit unsure of how you could get out of this situation before you gave up and nodded wincing at how stuttered and weak your answer was, ‘Y-yes.’
‘I didn’t really…,’ he started and paused a bit before he continued sounding a bit less intimidating now or like he was pissed at you maybe recognizing his attitude too and wishing to make amends, ‘I didn’t really think about you…I’m sorry, I didn’t properly thank you or anything then.’
Your eyes widened upon hearing those words.
Thank you? You never have to thank me for anything! Least of all this!
You turned to fully look at him trying to find some space to stand on the stairs this close to him until deciding to take a step below him as you felt the distance was a better option.
Once faced with his unfairly handsome face and knowing for the first time ever his attention was solely on you, it was hard to remember to stand your ground, but ultimately you forced yourself once again to do just that.
‘No, Matsuno-san,’ you shook your head your voice firm but quiet as you meant every word, ‘You were-you are going through a lot. Please don’t worry yourself with that-,’
-me.
You took a deep breath, and despite your insecurities, you offered him a smile, you wanted to look hopeful and encouraging, ‘Have a nice evening.’
This could have been it. Your first real encounter with him. It wasn’t the best, but you knew it wouldn’t be given the circumstances. It was the reason, why you didn’t plan to talk to him at least for another month or two at least until he would heal a bit more. You owed him that much.
Chifuyu didn’t say anything, and the way he kept on looking at you left you feeling like he didn’t really like you all that much which hurt if you were being completely honest with yourself.
It would have been better if you never even acknowledged me than to look at me like this, Chifuyu, you thought and couldn’t help but feel that he was cruel to you for some reason even if that couldn’t be it since he didn’t really know you.
You rose your hand to wave at him and turn around to leave hoping that the next time, you would gain the courage to speak to him it would go better, but before you could he spoke again stopping you on track.
‘You come here often.’
You didn’t just stop, you froze once again, and you hoped that even if he could only see part of your face as you were in the process of turning away from him, he wouldn’t be able to tell his words got to you.
No! you couldn’t help but think desperate as this was already bad, and you feared if he knew about your visits and reasoning for them, it would only turn out worse.
‘Baji’s mom,’ he said, and your intern bubble of struggles snapped back into reality at how broken his voice sounded.
You hated hearing him sound like that. He was always so joyful with Baji whenever you saw them making you smile just a tiny bit to see him in such a way, and secretly hope that one day, it would be you who could get him to be that happy. It was in such contrast to how he was now that it broke your heart some more and forced you to turn back to face him even if you wanted nothing more than for him than not to see you again.
‘She mentioned someone often came and brought flowers and lightened the candle. She caught someone matching your description leaving a couple of times. It was you, right?’
Your eyes watched his face as now despite his sharp green eyes, it seemed softer yet sadder, no doubt because he was speaking of something regarding his Baji.
You swallowed again feeling like you were heading toward a trap, but at the same time found it hard not to answer when Chifuyu looked like this. The urge to reach out and comfort him somehow was so strong you almost took another step toward him.
‘Uh, yes, sometimes,’ you attempted to say as casually as possible, but you felt too nervous and were certain it could be detected in your voice too.
Chifuyu shook his head, ‘No, not sometimes,’ he called you out on your weaknesses lie, and pressed on not taking a step closer, but sort of leaning toward you making it seem like he had which only got your heart to pound faster and sweat to gather across your skin, ‘Every other day.’
His eyes seemed sharper now, and you really hated that it seemed his anger was directed at you of all people when he revealed, ‘I followed you this week, and you came here two times already. So don’t pretend like you didn’t!’
Your face was on fire now from the embarrassment, and you started to shake your head unsure if you wanted to deny it or confirm it, ‘I just… pay my respects,’ you said trying to sum up all that you had been doing for the last couple of weeks.
‘Why?’ Chifuyu asked, and you were certain except for the first time, you ever saw him, back when he was younger, and you first opened up a place for him inside your heart, you never saw him this angry, ‘Who are you?! You go to our school, right? Who was Baji-san to you?’
Your tongue almost supplied no one, but that sounds awfully harsh to say to Chifuyu for who Baji Keisuke was everything, so instead, you tried to be merciful but kept your reasons to yourself and shrug your shoulders, ‘I’m just paying my respects. We didn’t know each other that well.’
‘That’s a lie,’ Chifuyu accused you again before he took a step closer to you which caused you to take a step back almost missing a step. You didn’t want to discuss this with him. You knew what you were doing was odd, weird even. You knew it wasn’t something anyone would understand, and you didn’t want your Chifuyu, the boy, you had been crushing on since you were younger of all people to think you were crazy. It just couldn’t be explained properly for it not to come off as strange, and given how often you knew people thought this of you, you refused to have someone you cared about and admired so much like Chifuyu think the same.
You shook your head again and quietly let out, ‘It’s not.’
‘Baji-san knew you,’ said the blond with his sharp eyes still on you as he tried to make another step toward you, ‘He pointed you out to me a few times and said that person’s pretty cute, don’t you think? He never cared for such things. Not once was he interested in a person like that, so why was he interested in you and why are you lying about not knowing him and coming here so often?’
He looked properly upset with you now, and it broke your heart in the worse way.
The umbrella between your palms was being crushed by how tightly you were gripping it.
You felt tears at the corner of your eyes knowing it wouldn’t be too long before you would start crying as you were never good with confrontations least of all this one that would reveal and cost you too much.
Shaking your head fearing the worst, you decided the only thing you could do was to run.
Looking back it wasn’t a good strategy as the stairs were pretty small, and you could have stumbled down, but you couldn’t help yourself but want to get away before Chifuyu would hate you even more than he must have at that moment.
Surprisingly, you didn’t stumble on your way down, but in your panic state, you failed to notice the incoming truck until it was coming right at you.
Your eyes widened as the car horn blasted inside your ears, but your feet wouldn’t move as you entered a trance of some sort.
Right before you were certain the car would hit you, you felt a strong grip on your wrist even through the fabric of your clothes, and then a harsh shove toward the direction you just tried to escape from.
You felt the impact as the car speeded past you, but it was nothing compared to the one you would have felt if it had hit you.
A second hand gripped your arm and yanked you a bit away only to be met with wide green eyes and a mixture of terror and anger radiating from inside them, ‘WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! YOU COULD HAVE DIED!’
Your mouth felt dry and even if you opened and closed it no words came out as you remained shocked over what just happened as well as the adrenaline of running had filled the space in every cell inside your poor body.
‘DO YOU WANT TO DIE?!’ Chifuyu yelled at you, and he sounded far angrier than he did before when he accused you of lying to him. Before he was angry, but cold almost like the color blue, but now he was very passionate shaking and yelling out loud at you like he was all red.
‘Stupid!’ his voice broke a bit even if he yelled it, and you realized even if his face looked very angry and upset his eyes just looked frightened and caring.
His hands grip on your wrist and arm tightened like he was making sure you understood or like he was making sure he got you, and you were still here, ‘Y-you’re so stupid,’ he said with a dropping volume, ‘You could have died,’ he kept on looking at your face and holding you almost like he didn’t even realize it, ‘I don’t want to have to hold anyone else while they die ever again,’ his confession was like a punch into your gut but not only because it meant he cared, but because you hoped the fact that he was holding Baji as the boy passed away was just a rumor because you couldn’t accept that the whole ordeal of the boy’s death was even more tragic and traumatizing to Chifuyu.
‘Just…shit…look where you’re going,’ he struggled to talk, but you gathered enough of what he was saying and nodded several times while you swore it ready to promise him anything just so he wouldn’t look as broken as he did now, ‘I promise, Matsuno-san.’
Your hands started to ache and on their own, they grabbed a hold of the fabric of his clothing across his chest and started to pull him closer toward you again.
He let himself be pulled and before you knew it his head rested against your shoulder and the one that wasn’t holding onto his clothes dived into his hair.
You were shocked, you managed to do such a thing, but you knew in your heart, it couldn’t be helped, as you felt you would have done anything just to offer him some comfort, just as you did up until now by visiting Baji’s grave in his place.
‘I’m okay. You got to me in time. You saved me,’ you said holding him close for what felt like ages. You would have freaked out and perhaps later when the adrenaline and stress left your body, you would, but for now, you pushed all those thoughts aside in favor to be present for this sad boy, who really didn’t deserve all that happened to him.
He breathed hard enough that the air slid between the fabric of your own clothes and touched your skin as he started to speak, ‘D-don’t…don’t do that again. I don’t want to…’
‘Okay, I promise,’ you assured him even if it was stupid to promise someone you wouldn’t die. You really would have promised him anything just to give him more comfort and make him feel better even if it was a lie.
You weren’t certain, how long you kept on holding onto Chifuyu, but once both of your bodies became free from the tremble and adrenaline, you mutually agreed upon letting each other go and stepping aside.
Both of you were blushing now knowing how inappropriate it was to touch one another when you were just strangers.
‘I’m sorry, I yelled,’ he spoke first, and when your eyes lifted to his face you saw how red it was and were horrified probably realizing how all that he had put you through, ‘That was so uncool. You should hit me.’
‘No,’ you shook your head feeling your own face was warm, and you couldn’t help but smile a bit happy at least now you got to see Chifuyu look so cute and better.
Just then it finally started to rain, and you searched for your umbrella only to realize it was run over by the car, ‘Oh, well, that’s not good.’
When you turned back you found Chifuyu pulling down his hoodie and raising it above his head, ‘Come here.’
You hesitated only for a moment before you returned to him and the two of you silently made your way to a near bus stop to take cover.
Once there it felt so bizarre that all of that happened and that now you were stuck in the rain with Chifuyu as if the moment was right out of some shojo manga.
The rain carried on, and you could feel the chill entering your body even through your clothes as you set at the bus stop next to Chifuyu now almost feeling his body heat but not quite.
After a few silent moments, you felt him start to take glances at you maybe still feeling bad about yelling earlier and unsure what to do now.
‘I’m really sorry I scared you,’ he said once again, and you nodded offering him a small smile as you looked at him, ‘It’s alright. I know I must have really annoyed you.’
He watched you for a moment before he looked down at his hands laying in his lap, ‘I just wanted…Baji-san was my friend. Someone I admired and cared for dearly. I feel…I know I will never learn new things about him. I will never hear anything new from him. I just…you were a part of his life that I don’t know about…I would like to know about that part…please,’ he said, and he looked so vulnerable, you couldn’t do anything else, but nod taking in his now exhausted features.
Taking a deep breath you turned ahead and focused on the rain, ‘The truth is I only ever spoke to Baji-san once. Some guys were trying to take my money, and he stepped in a kick their asses. He was so brutal I was almost afraid for those jerks,’ you confessed and looked at Chifuyu only to see a small grin appear across his face, ‘That sounds like Baji-san alright.’
You nodded with a small smile as well, ‘Even if he was rather harsh and scolded me for walking alone like that in that area. He walked me to the train stop and in a very brutish way was actually very kind,’ you said and recalled the interaction.
‘Ah, you’re Chifuyu’s stalker.’
Your cheeks flared upon hearing that before you bowed down and thanked Baji Keisuke again feeling slightly humiliated that he would call you like that. You weren’t a stalker, in your mind, you simply watched Chifuyu a lot from the distance.
‘Enough of that. Where are you going? I will walk you there, so you don’t get in trouble again. You’re so weak,’ he said laughing a bit, and even if it was a bit insulting it didn’t feel that way since he was in such a good mood and genuinely helped you out.
He walked you to the train station, and you shared some sweets with him and talked about cats, you fed on the way. He wasn’t nice in a way a person would use the word to describe him, but he was very kind and good in heart, and you felt the need to bow and apologize to him before you parted your ways, ‘I’m sorry, I had a heavy heart at you because I knew I would never be as important to Matsuno-san as you are. Uh, he really looks up at you, you know? But now I can see why. You’re a very good person, Baji-san.’
He looked surprised before he laughed loudly and waved your apology off, ‘Don’t be so hard on yourself. Maybe you’re weak, but I’m sure if you head-on told Chifuyu it would make him happy.’
You didn’t really believe that. How could someone be happy about a confession when they didn’t even know that person?
He grinned, ‘Trust me. You’re cute, and you like cats. He would definitely be happy. Any person would. Now don’t miss your train.’
You bowed and thanked him one last time quickly rushing away. Your final wave was the last time you ever engage with Baji while he was alive.
‘So, you come to visit Baji-san’s grave because he saved you?’ asked Chifuyu, and you turned to look at him. He was smiling, but it didn’t really reach his sharp green eyes leaving the gesture hollow-looking and your own heart sad, ‘He must have left quite the impression on you to come so often.’
You watched the boy for a moment before you clenched your fists and looked in front of yourself, ‘Matsuno-san,’ you said and waited until you felt the boy look at you again even if you couldn’t really meet his eyes as you knew you wouldn’t be able to speak if you did, ‘Baji-san, was a really amazing person, and I’m sure I would think so even more if I got the privilege to interact with him more, but as strange or selfish as it is, he isn’t the sole reason or maybe the reason at all while I visit his grave so often.’
You closed your eyes as you confessed quietly, ‘You are.’
He didn’t say anything to that, but you could feel his gaze burning a hole into your face, and you were sure he must have been shocked by your words which caused this need to explain yourself more to arrive, ‘Uh, I heard that you…weren’t visiting much, and I know how much Baji-san means to you, so…I decided to take your place, until…until you would feel better and ready to visit yourself,’ you unclenched your palms and ran them over your clothed thighs.
‘Why?’ he asked, but it was so quiet, you weren’t sure he wanted to in the first place. Still, you answered, ‘It didn’t sit right with me that someone who meant to you as much as Baji-san wouldn’t have you visit him, but if you really couldn’t then I figured it’s only fair I would.’
He stayed silent for a moment before he asked again this time a bit louder with more confidence, ‘But why? Why you?’
You opened your eyes fearing he would ask you so directly and hoping he would figure it out on his own and just leave it.
When you sensed he wouldn’t as he kept on looking at you, you took a deep breath and said, ‘Please, don’t take this as a confession, but I really like you for a very long time now.’
‘What?!’ he asked causing you to flinch at how loud he was and turn to look at him started only to find him looking properly shocked which threw your theory that he was pushing you on purpose out of the window.
Your face grew warm again, and you looked away because it felt properly embarrassing to face him now.
You could tell he carried on looking at you even if you refused to meet his face again.
A few moments passed as you felt burning up over your personal embarrassment before he finally turned to look ahead into the rain, ‘You…but…’
You cleared your throat and quickly said, ‘Please, don’t feel the need to say anything to me. This wasn’t a confession.’
Chifuyu turned back to you, and with all the courage you could gather, you dared yourself to look back at him if only from under your eyelashes, ‘Uh, I think you’re still going through a lot and grieving, and I don’t want to burden you with my feelings when you don’t even know me. I would like to wait and maybe try it when you feel better. In any case,’ you looked away again shocked you managed to say all those things out loud, but at the same time feeling a lot better, ‘if it’s alright with you don’t say anything, and let’s just leave it for now, Matsuno-san.’
The silence that followed your speech was deafening, but you refused to say anything else since with every passing minute you feared Chifuyu would just stand up and leave or still decide to reject you. You really didn’t intend to confess to him any time soon given his grieving, but you would like to be able to have a shot in the future.
It seemed a few more moments passed before Chifuyu finally spoke sounding really calm and more like himself than he had in a while, and it shook you that it took you to hear him sound like that again to realize this, ‘You’re a really considered person, huh?’
You glanced at him again and shrugged your shoulders, ‘I just really want to see you smile again as you use to.’
Chifuyu kept on looking at you for a little longer before he chuckled quietly, ‘I think I get why Baji-san would point you out to me,’ your eyes dared to look at him again and found him grinning at you a bit less tragically, ‘Thank you.’
You wouldn’t deny it almost made up for your internal anxiety and humiliation to have him look at you so gratefully and speak so nicely.
You shook your head and turned to look at the rain again, ‘Don’t thank me. Just let me do things for you.’
The two of you watched the rain until it slowed down, and you went home with Chifuyu walking you to the train station. You didn’t speak much, but the walk wasn’t the worse, and you were glad you got to spend some time with him without shouting or sadness.
‘When is the next time you will come visit the grave?’ he asked a few moments before you would get on your train, ‘I’ll come with you this time.’
You were genuinely surprised although perhaps you shouldn’t be before you agreed to go visit the grave in two days together.
Since then, you went to visit together quite often watching Chifuyu slowly but firmly return to a close doppelganger of his former self. He would probably never be as bright as he used to be before all this, but it came pretty close and you were grateful for that all the same.
It was almost dizzying at times, how you went from someone the dyed blond-haired boy didn’t know at all to someone, who he often sought out to eat lunch with in school and visit Baji’s grave learning far more about him than you ever dreamed of and realizing he was learning more about you as well.
‘I would like to make a stop today before we head to the cemetery,’ he told you one day during lunch while avoiding your eyes and looking genuinely nervous, ‘If that’s fine with you.’
‘Sure,’ you said trying to guess what it was all about, ‘Are you alright?’ you asked him trying to guess what was on his mind.
He blinked and looked at you, and even if he was clearly struggling with something, he still offered you a bright smile with his eyes shining with excitement before he said, ‘Yeah, I would just like to unburden you from one of your duties though.’
You were confused, but he refused to give you any leads simply telling you to wait and see so you did just that.
When you met him later after school and saw he was carrying something of great meaning to you, something you weren’t even certain he understood from when you spoke about it, you knew which burden he was talking about.
The burden of confessing.
That day, you came to Baji’s grave holding hands feeling a certain warmth not only from having Chifuyu liking you back but from something else as well all the while holding onto the gift he got you.
You stayed a bit paying your respects and allowing Chifuyu a moment to talk to Baji on his own while you stood on the stairs and took in the nice weather of that day wondering if it could be a sign from the afterlife that maybe Baji very much so approved of you.
Thank you, Baji-san, you thought with a small grateful smile across your face while looking at Chifuyu chuckling over something and brushing the back of his head healing.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It wasn't uncommon for her to dwindle in front of the apartment complex. Or, it wasn't while daylight still graced the streets of Shibuya. At night though, everything became eerily quiet and — be it her so-called masochistic delight of devouring horror movies knowing she could kiss sleep goodbye — every squeak or flickering shadow concocted wild imaginations in her brain.
The swing went back and forth, the rustic joints creaking and clanging. Her feet kicked up dirt, formerly white converses now painted yellow. She checked her wristwatch once again, sighing as another minute ticked by. Still no him.
An old tin box sloppily painted white sat on the seat next to hers, a red cross marked on it to designate its purpose. She couldn't possibly not get ticked off. He was supposed to be there a whole hour ago.
Even then, the worry outweighed ire. Every faint click of the watch's hands added another knot to her wrenching gut. How she wished he would just stop getting into these stupid skirmishes. Stop picking fights at the slightest inconvenience. Stop getting bloodied up all the damn time even if he did emerge victorious.
But normal was just not his style.
No, Baji was loud, wild and somewhere crossed between self assured and entirely too overconfident. Because she'd tell anyone like she told him a million times, one day he would get into a battle he couldn't win. And he would reassure her with a pointy grin, that notion was apparently impossible.
Perhaps it was that rambunctious outlook that both knew was dangerously naive, mixed with limitless loyalty that drove her mad.
And if he was relentlessly capable of anything, it was keeping his word. To his mother who was his greatest hero, to his friends that he adored more than anything and even to outsiders living in his neighborhood who he'd help around without uttering a word — in their eyes he could do no wrong. So, if being the orbit on which all the people in his life functioned kept him from fulfilling just one promise, one made to her, could she really be mad?
The generous rumble of an exhaust stirred her from her thoughts. She had been staring at the one stray cat who frequented the torn down park ad much as they did. The bike stopped at the sidewalk, a little ways away under the streetlight as the engine died down.
"Hey, little guy", Baji greeted the before he acknowledged her. Of course he did. Rolling her eyes, she kicked the ground once again, refusing to acknowledge him or the bruising wound on his somewhat pleasant face.
But her momentary resolve shattered when the cat purred, rubbing its face into the brunette's hand as if she didn't spend the entirety of her pocket money buying treats for him. Glaring at the feline, she cleared her throat in a manner demanding attention.
"Hey", Baji flashed her a lopsided smile, bit exaggerated but genuine. Then there was something else, too — forced down exhaustion evident in his dilated pupils.
She deadpanned at his lacking response. "Hey? It's what...", she made a display of eyeing her wrist, "Almost ten at night. You said you'd be here at an hour tops and all you can say is 'hey'?"
Without waiting for a retort, one that was bound to come, she plucked the first aid kit from the swing, retrieving a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a packet of cotton swabs. She was almost running out from the times she'd cleaned his wounds that month alone.
"In my defense, I was going to make it on time but then Draken decided he wasn't havin it and got himself landed in the E.R. Fuck, you should've seen the paramedics, they were running around like headless chickens trying to stop the bleeding from a stab", he gruffed out.
When he did speak though, she almost tripped over her own feet.
At that moment, whether her blown wide eyes were comical or not, she hadn't the time to ponder. "I— What...", words failed her, coming out in incompressible jumbles. "He got stabbed?! Is he okay?"
"Out of danger", Baji revealed with a huff and her heart finally allowed blood to return to her entire body.
He didn’t explain any further, neither did she probe. It wasn't that she was unfamiliar with the people he called friends. She knew them quite well, the upper echelon of Toman. If anything, the daunting yet kind and sensible boy that was Draken seemed the least likely to end up at the hospital besides perhaps Mitsuya.
She had known Baji for a long time, since they were in kindergarten. And even if memories were a bit blurry from back then, she knew the ceaseless ball of energy that he was, needed some form of outlet. It was at age five he settled on karate which later became his greatest strength behind creating a gang. That also meant she knew about the still juvenile group since it's founding days. And led by these ambitious boys, they were not the bunch who picked fights that ended in bloodbath or fatalities.
Not without a reason far too complicated than just plain fistfight.
With her heart racing still, she worked on his scrapes silently, the furball they'd mutually adopted as their child rubbing up on her left leg.
Her mind was running a mile per minute, still trying to process the little of information revealed to her. He insisted on not telling any more than necessary so as to keep her away from his business and consequently the multitude of people having some vendetta against him.
Thinking back now, she cringed at her earlier display of complete insensitivity. Even without asking first she had jumped to conclusions. Her biggest flaw, though one of many.
"There you go. Don't put soap on them for at least a day. You'll end up agitating the gashes."
With a lump of white hot guilt and — she supposed that's what it was — fear of several what-ifs rattling inside her head, she finally stepped away from standing between his parted legs where he sat on the swing, hands dropping from having tilted his face upwards.
God, what a moron, she thought to herself. Here she was lamenting her rotten fate of getting stood up while he was there in a fight that had equal chances of turning south in anyone's case, sitting through one of his close friend's surgery while said friend grazed death's door.
Caught up in her mental berating, she missed him calling out her name, the syllables hanging in the quiet summer night. It wasn't until he had grasped both her wrists, tugging her closer until she resumed her spot — pressed against him and almost unbearably close. All it took was his lips pressing again her opened palms with all the gentleness he could muster, the smell of chemical making his nose scrunch up, for her to run blank.
"What'cha thinking?" His question was paired with a low hum.
Any other day and she would've lost it, scrambling to mask her reddening face. But not that day. And while her doubts often became her most formidable enemy, she couldn't help acknowledge the reality to them.
She had been bitching about the missed opportunity of wearing a pretty yukata to the festival, having stayed back in school to finish her tutoring. And he was out god knew where, constantly putting himself in situations that now even had the possibility of death, it seemed.
That was where their lives diverged. Because at the end of the day, his unrestrained freedom did not apply to her mundane life. He belonged in loud ruckus, thriving off of chaos and she? She was more than fine with the serenity of daily life as it was, home to school and back. In a sense, she had always known that. But now as they grew older, the fault between them also stretched on.
Sooner or later, they'd stray too far. And while he had the firm belief that they would get back together like usual, she had her doubts.
Uncertainty had never been a friend, but always an unwilling companion. In a world where they were still too young, too inexperienced about real life, what would they even become? Years from now, where would they be? For someone who hadn't known life without Baji Keisuke, what would she do if he ever stopped being that one constant she could always rely on?
"I'm... sorry", she settled on that, a pathetic attempt to get the raging storm of emotions flitting past her across.
His brows furrowed slightly and that was the last thing she noticed before the glassy filter of tears veiled her gaze. She felt his arms wrapping around her waist. This time she melted into the embrace, gripping his shoulders tight as if it were the last link tethering her to the universe as she knew it.
It was exactly that, though, wasn't it?
"Let's just stay like this for a while", came his muffled voice, face pressed against her uniform blazer.
He didn't mention his increasingly dampening shoulder. She didn’t bring up the angry red surrounding his eyes.
For now, this was okay. Not perfect but as long as they were there in the present, it didn't have be ideal. Maybe they could delude themselves into believing this false consistency for a little while longer.

Bro I think about Baji Keisuke to much, literally even until now i’m in denial of his death. We’re going to pretend he’s alive or that he’s a ghost that everyone can see, because this guy, I can’t even describe. Love him to much. AU!Tokyo Revengers, where he survived, done and done.
