One of my favorite things in the Harry Potter fandom is how we all *know* Lucius Malfoy is so fucking tired of hearing about Harry Potter.
It (of course) starts when Harry Potter defeated Voldemort, the gossip and hero worship (or hatred) he could not escape, he’s a well known public figure he needs to be able to socialize with the general population. It’s fine, he told himself, it will die down in a few years. Then I will be free of Potter.
Then comes his son’s first year. September 1st 1991 he gets a letter from his son. The first words are “Harry Potter refused to be my friend” nothing about the sorting besides a footnote. No he gets five paragraphs detailing his son’s interaction with Potter. It’s fine, he told himself, my son will eventually get over this (he never does). Then I will be free of Potter.
Then Voldemort is resurrected. And all he talks about is Harry Potter. Capturing him, torturing him, killing him. Doesn’t matter what the conversation starts as. It will always turn back to Harry Potter. It’s fine, he tells himself, my lord will eventually kill the boy. Then I will be free of Harry Potter.
The battle of Hogwarts. Harry Potter is dead. Lucius feels a deep sense of relief for the first time in roughly 8 years. His son can’t keep complaining about the boy, the dark lord has succeeded and the general public will surely be banned from speaking of the boy. He’s finally free.
And then. After being hit by a killing curse in front of his eyes. Harry Potter takes off his invisibility cloak and shows everyone he’s alive. And then he wins the war.
And Lucius dies a bit on the inside. Not because his lord is dead. Not because he will probably be locked away in Azkaban.
No. It’s because now more than ever, everyone will be talking about Harry Fucking Potter.
I’d like to believe it drove him to a mental breakdown.
(And then, post war he’s just chilling as a hermit or something, maybe in Azkaban, relieved that he can’t really talk to people so they can’t bring up Harry Potter. And his son walks in and says he wants to introduce his new boyfriend.
And it’s Harry. Fucking. Potter.
He tries to jump out a window.)

You wanna know what I just found? A Snape/giant squid fanfic.
The best part? It’s not smut. And it’s from the squid’s perspective. I’m not surprised but I am concerned that I find this normal somehow
The fic in question: The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife by eldritcher on Ao3 (you need an account to read it)
(And the thing is I’ve seen giant squid/character before, I *know* it exists. But it’s always been tentacle sex and idk why but the lack of smut feels weird. And the fact that I’m feeling off about a *lack* of inappropriate use of tentacles says something about how deep I’ve delved into fanfic. )

I love the trope where someone who cares about the Main Character or is just now getting to know them learns about all the dumb/impossible stuff they do and just kinda breaks. Like they’re not able to comprehend how this dumbass is alive. And then the MC is just trying to brush it off because they don’t understand what’s wrong
MC: “I may have done *insert impossible/extemy dangerous thing* but it’s fine everything worked out and it wasn’t that hard really”
Character B: “YOU WHAT?!? HOW?!?” *distressed and confused noises*

i feel like we don’t talk about this scene from the titan’s curse enough, because i think about this a lot. like… a lot. the way he was just like ‘oh i can move faster than bullets, that’s cool’, and then immediately moved on and never thought about it again?? i mean, i knew he could SWIM at mach 5, which is…. hypersonic speed, and equivalent to 3836 miles per hour. and i know all demigods are naturally a bit faster than humans. but like… he can move faster than bullets?
i guess i just wasn’t expecting perseus to go all spider-man on me, that’s all

I saw someone say that the reason he seems boring to people is because he didn’t get his memory back fully after the whole Hera kidnapping thing. That he was just a blank slate trying his best to interact with everyone and stay alive through out the war with minimal recollection of his past. Personally I never saw him as boring but the explanation makes sense to me as well yk?
jason grace is underated
he is not boring and I'm tired of the fandom not giving him justice. Bro was replaced at his own f-ing camp, by a Greek, then mocked for no longer being roman, his mom abandend him to the wolves, literally. we need to acknolage that Jason is not boring whatsoever

It is funny to me how Harry Potter is literally the main character, yet people tend to go like he didn't suffer that much or he wasn't "abused"; Like, how can one misunderstand the literal main character of the damn franchise?
He wasn't abused; yes okay. He absolutely did not grow up inside a cupboard; the tiny place that is mostly reserved for brooms or cleaning supply. He absolutely was not treated inferior to the other child who lived in the same house. He was totally was not treated like a "freak" or a "stain" that his family was ashamed off. He grew up inside a cupboard while there was a literal unused bed in the same house. And you want to know what that screamed to a child, a baby — who slept inside a cupboard while there being a perfectly usable room right there? You are worth nothing and we don't love you and we are ashamed of what you are.
He wasn't starved, or at least he was fed; Yeah, no. We see it from the first book. How Vernon was no food for you and in the cupboard you go — and by the looks of it, that was like his most common punishment. And then, in the second book — you practically see it happen. He was locked, inside a room with only a can of soup that he shared with Hedwig. Now, tell me what it would do to a child — to be given food through a cat flap, and fun fact? Harry got to eat less than people on war rations; in short? He was starved, yes.
He wasn't abused physically so it's not abuse; As for people's thinks abuse isn't abuse until it's physical (which is inherently wrong because abuse isn't only physically, fyi); Harry has learned to dodge Vernon and he states that, very proudly when his uncle tries to grab him. He dodges a flying pan and states that fact, again very proudly as if it is the norm; do you know how heavy pans are? And do you know what would happen when one hits you? If you want an even clearer proof; Vernon Dursley strangles Harry in Ootp. There you go. Also, in the first book, we clearly see Vernon encouraging Dudley to hit Harry. Read between the lines and actually try to understand what that signifies.
And favourite part; When he wasn't treated like a prisoner, or a freak— he was their servant. And that is very much canonical. Tending Petunia's garden during summers and drinking from the water hose in the garden because of how hot it was? Having to wake up early so he can tend the kitchen and when he wasn't doing all that he is locked away. And it is all canon.
In conclusion, Harry— not only grew up to think that he was inhumane, undeserving of love, a freak that didn't even get to have his own bed because someone like him didn't deserve it, physically harmed enough times that he dodges them out of reflex and also the Dursleys' glorified servant; that is not even taking into account what Harry went through in Hogwarts. And after all that if someone tells me; this child, right here — didn't go through much then well, maybe read the books again?

Can confirm, it’s an amazing story definitely worth the read. The author actually has another Harry Potter x Marvel fanfic that I also think is amazing, though it’s a very different concept from the fic in the original post. “On Punching Gods and Absentee Dads” Love the both of them.
Holly Potter and the Midlife Crisis by Enigmaris
female harry potter , avengers crossover , after battle of hogwarts
Harry leaves britain to get some distance from the magical world and all of the pain there. She's having a mid life crisis questioning what she wants from her life, what she wants to do, and where she belongs. This is an awesome story of personal growth, healing, and discovering what's important to yourself. Also with some really cool fight scenes and magic and interacting with the Avengers fam.
If you like Harry Potter, the Avengers, and wholesome self discovery, then you couldn't find a better fic.
It's finished now but I have not personally finished it yet - which will be changing soon

No one can deny that Tomarry has some of the most beautiful fics in the Harry Potter fandom. Say what you want about how “it will never work” ITS FANFIC THATS THE WHOLE POINT.
But some of these fics make you believe that no matter who they are to each other they’re meant to be. These fics have me feeling *all* the feelings.
(I’m listing a few not all cuz I don’t have time for that rn sry)
(Just realized all of them are incomplete but THEYRE WORTH READING EITHER WAY)
- draw me after you (let us run) by ToAStanger on Ao3 (it’s locked so you can only read it if you have an Ao3 account)
- Too old to be this young by Nadia_Castillo on Ao3
- Full Circle by tetsurashian on Ao3
- Holly & Yew by LovelyLotus on Ao3
- Eat Your Heart Out by evaleon70 on Ao3
(I can rec complete fics if anyone wants them)

Character A:
- Extremely powerful/strong (physically/magically/politically) in terms of their world/universe
- has the capability to take down whatever government/higher power is in place, does not because they don’t actually know what’s going on at any point in time.
- Harbinger of Chaos, they attract trouble.
- Relies on Character B for any type of information/dealing with authority figures
-Unintentional badass, is unaware of their badassness
Character B:
- Hyper competent
- Sometimes have no powers or have average levels of power (compared to Character A) in terms of that world
- Knows what’s going on
- Makes sure Character A doesn’t cause more damage than usual
-Pulls them out of trouble when they inevitably do something dumb.
- Badass and they know it
